THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN STOPPING ON DRY PAVEMENT. GENERALLY THE CONDITION IS LIMITED TO SPEEDS UNDER 10 MPH WHEN PARKING OR STOPPING AT STOP SIGNS. THIS CONDITION DISENGAGED THE BREAKS AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE BEYOND THE TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL AT A FOUR WAY INTERSECTION, NEARLY RESULTING IN A SERIOUS SIDE IMPACT COLLISION.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER WAS LATER CONTACTED (GORDON CHEVROLET IN PHILADELPHIA, PA) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who replaced the parking brakes and the brake fluid; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the brake pedal would hesitate to respond when depressed, causing a 100-feet in stopping distance delay. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V045000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) since the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 178,000.

DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST, I TOWED MY SON'S DISABLED VEHICLE BACK FROM CENTRAL PA.(140 MILES). WITH THE TOW DOLLY AND HIS CAR - I WAS PULLING CLOSE TO 4000 POUNDS. I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE. THE ABS ACTIVATES ALMOST AT EVERY STOP, EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON-LINE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR EARLIER MODEL YEARS BUT NOT FOR 2004. IT SEEMS APPARENT THAT THE 2004 MODEL YEAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED. I HAVE ALREADY PAID A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY TO HAVE THE BRAKES, WHEEL BEARINGS AND SPEED SENSORS REPLACED. AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL SOUNDS LIKE IT IS BOUNCING, RATTLING AND LOOSE. THIS HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS AN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT NEEDING TO BE REPACKED AND THE STEERING GEAR BOX NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, GM REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THERE WAS A LOOSE SOUNDING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. UPON MY INVESTIGATION I FOUND OUT THAT MANY GM'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT BEING LOSE I COULD NOT TELL THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD TO THE POINT THE HUB HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS COULD HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC RESULTS (FATALITY). UPON TALKING TO VARIOUS EMPLOYEES I WAS TOLD THAT GM HAS HAD A DESIGN PROBLEM AND THAT THEY NOW HAVE CHANGED TO A DIFFERENT SHAFT. MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND EVEN THE REPAIR ORDER STATES "REPLACE UPPER INT SHAFT WITH NEW STYLE REROAD TEST OK" I THINK IN PUBLIC SAFETY THAT THE NTSB SHOULD LOOK INTO HOW MANY OF THESE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM (GM) AND THE AVERAGE MILEAGE OF NOT ONLY MY MODEL VEHICLE BUT ALL GM'S THAT HAVE THIS TYPE OF STEERING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY SPEED WOULD NOT GO OVER 35MPH. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS BEFOREHAND BECAUSE THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 35MPH UP UNTIL I NEEDED TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I NOTICED THAT NO MATTER WHAT I DID, OR HOW FAST I WAS GOING, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT READ ABOVE 35MPH. NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT THIS MADE MY TRIP TO THE AIRPORT RATHER STRESSFUL AS I HAD NO IDEA HOW FAST I WAS GOING. I COULD ONLY PACE WITH OTHER CARS AND HOPED THEY WEREN'T GOING TOO FAST. I HAVE READ THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE AVALANCHE WITH NOT JUST THE SPEEDOMETER BUT ALSO THE REST OF THE GAUGES ON THE CLUSTER. IT WOULD BE REALLY NICE IF GM/CHEVROLET WOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND MAKE A RECALL FOR IT. EVER SINCE THIS INCIDENT, IT'S BEEN RANDOMLY BREAKING. IF I STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLE, SOMETIMES IT WORKS AS NORMAL. HOWEVER SOMETIMES I'M JUST NOT SURE AND THIS LACK OF TRUST WITH THE GAUGES COULD END UP BEING A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR

RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT MY VEHICLE POSSIBLY HAD A RECALLED SUNROOF MANUFACTURED BY HOLLANDIA AT WEBASTO PRODUCT NORTH AMERICA, INC. PER THE PROVIDED INSTRUCTIONS, I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT MY CAR DOES HAVE AN AFTERMARKET SUNROOF AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN OVERSEES IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO SEND IT TO A SERVICE REPAIR SHOP. PLEASE INDICATE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IN THIS CASE.

I was coming home on my lunch break and it blew out I didnt hit anything in the road or anything I have another tire the same brand and it started to separate on sidewall also but I felt a vibration so I took the tire off and put my other spare on and the vibration stopped.

THE SPARE TIRE SECONDARY LATCH WAS STUCK IN THE HOIST BODY NOT ALLOWING THE SPARE TIRE TO BE RELEASED. 2004 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE DESIGNED WITHOUT INLINE FUEL FILTER, ONLY A FILTER MADE INTO THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY INSIDE THE TANK. ACCORDING TO GM AND ALL DATA REPAIR MANUALS, THIS FILTER IS A NON-SERVICEABLE ITEM INTENDED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES, VEHICLE MIL INDICATOR CAME ON, DIAGNOSED AS MISFIRE CONDITION. VEHICLE STUTTERED UNDER BOTH IDLE AND ACCELERATION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT SEDIMENT FROM THE FUEL TANK HAD CONTAMINATED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. DRIVER AND PASSENGER EXTERIOR DOOR LATCH DID NOT LATCH WHEN DOOR WAS CLOSED. WHILE THE DRIVER WAS TURNING RIGHT ON A VILLAGE STREET, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY. WHILE IN MOTION AROUND THE TURN THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DURING THE ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE CAR HIT A TREE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE TAILGATE MUST BE SLAMMED SHUT (HARD) BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER STRIPPING. I TRIED THIS FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS BUT STILL NO DIFFERENCE. THE MODULE WAS RECALLED IN 2002 AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS GIVEN A CHANCE TO REDESIGN IT, BUT IT IS STILL A BAD PART. THE BLOGS ARE FULL OF OWNERS CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. I HAD TO TAKE GM TO THE MAT TO REPLACE THE FIRST ONE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE FIRST RECALL. THIS TIME AROUND I DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME OR PATIENCE TO DO SO AN WENT AHEAD AN REPLACED IT OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. IA M ALSO STUCK WITH THIS PART AS IT IS NOT REPLACEABLE WITH ANY OTHER BRAND. I WAS ISSUED A RECALL A FEW YEARS BACK SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE ABOUT A BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION MALFUNCTION. IT STATED THAT SETTINGS ON THE BLOWER MOTOR MAY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR OR HEAT I HAVE SETTINGS FOR 5 BLOWER MOTOR OPTIONS. ALL THE SETTINGS 1-4 WORK JUST FINE, SETTING 5 DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ANYTIME THE REAR SEAT WAS FOLDED DOWN, THE BUCKLES TO THE REAR SEAT BELTS FELL UNDER THE SEAT AND WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO RETRIEVE, THUS PREVENTING PASSENGERS FROM BUCKLING THE SAFETY BELTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO OFFERED NO ADVICE.

FAILURE HAS OCCURRED TWICE ON MY 2004 AVALANCHE SURROUNDING THE INEFFICIENCIES WITHIN MY DASH BOARD. THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING INCORRECTLY. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE ACCURATE SPEED WAS NOT REPORTING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THIS REPLACED AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES. RECENTLY, THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK AND TAKING A ROAD TRIP THE GAS GAUGE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED AN EMPTY GAS READING. THE GAS GAUGE CONTINUES TO READ INCORRECTLY AND FLUCTUATES. I HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS A SERVICE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE UP TO ABOUT 70,000 MILES. CURRENTLY MY TRUCK IS AT 86000 MILES ALL DUE TO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC TO WORK (30 MILES EACH WAY). I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD EXPENSE THIS COST SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY A FACTORY ISSUE. REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF MILES ON THE VEHICLE IF IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE ROAD. WAS DRIVING AT A RATE I THOUGHT WAS AROUND 65-70 MPH BUT GOT PULLED OVER FOR GOING 84 MPH. I EXPLAINED TO THE OFFICER I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 68 MPH. HE THEN SHOWED ME THE RADAR GUN AND IT SAID 84MPH. WHEN I WENT BACK TO MY TRUCK I NOTICED MY GAUGE WAS STUCK ON 18MPH I SHOWED THE OFFICER AND LUCKILY HE TOLD ME HA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS CHEVY TRUCK AND LET ME OFF WITH JUST A WARNING. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT MY BRAKES WERE FAILING. ON A DOWNWARD SLOPE OF ROAD, (OLD ROUTE 23S) IN CEDAR GROVE, AS I WAS APPROACHING A LIGHT WITH VEHICLES AT A STOP. MY BRAKES WERE GIVING WAY AND WERE NOT ALLOWING ME TO STOP COMPLETELY. I KEPT ON PUMPING THEM IN HOPES THAT THE HYDRAULICS WOULD KICK IN; THEY DID NOT. REAR HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES ROTTED AND LEAKED FLUID CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKING. LAST YEAR I HAD TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST AND ROT. THE MECHANIC PERFORMING CURRENT REPAIRS STATS THAT THE FRONT HYDRAULIC LINES ARE RUSTING AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED SOON. THE FRONT CALIPERS HAVE ROTTED OUT BLEEDER VALVES. THE FRONT CALIPERS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS A RESULT WHEN THE FRONT HYDRAULIC LINES ARE REPLACED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS DIAGNOSED TO AN EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK. THE LEAK WAS TRACED TO A DAMAGED PLASTIC FITTING CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE FUEL PUMP METAL WAS ROTTED CAUSING THE JOINT TO EXPAND DAMAGING THE FITTING AND CAUSING THE LEAK. I DO NOT TRAILER A BOAT AND THE TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IMMERSED IN SALT WATER. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS AMOUNT OF UNDERCARRIAGE RUST AND METAL DAMAGE ON ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED WITH MANY MORE MILES AND YEARS OF SERVICE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2004 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE RPMS INCREASED. THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY SWITCHING GEARS AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF UNLESS THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION AND THE WATER PUMP FAILED COMPLETELY. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL FLAT TIRES, WAS NEVER STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY SO NEVER REMOVED THE SPARE TIRE. TODAY AND YESTERDAY 02-13-10 / 02-14-10 HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE AND FEEL GRATEFUL THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IF NOT I WOULD BE STUCK, AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE TIRE FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. I DID REVIEW THE INSTRUCTIONS, SOAK THE TIRE RELEASE IN PENETRATING OIL AND MADE A DOZEN ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE THE TIRE. THE RESULT WAS A SORE BACK, THE FIRST PART OF THE JACK HANDLE EXTENSION STUCK IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. THE SECTION THAT IS STUCK WILL NOT ALLOW FOR PROPER USE OF THE JACK. I HAVE TO CRAWL UNDER THE TRUCK AND TURN IT SLOWLY, JUST GAVE UP AND WILL CALL THE DEALER ON MONDAY MORNING. MY COMPLAINT IS THE SPARE TIRE RELEASE IS STUCK AND THE TIRE CANNOT BE REMOVED. ALSO WHEN SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET ON HOW TO REMOVE THE TIRE WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN MY EXPERIENCE IS NOT RARE BUT AVERAGE. I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, DRIVING A 2004 CHEVY AVALANCHE. I HAD DROPPED SOMETHING BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE DOOR. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AS I WAS REACHING DOWN TO FIND WHAT I HAD DROPPED. WHEN I PULLED THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, THE AUTOMATIC SEAT WENT BACKWARDS (WHICH IS A PERSONAL SETTING OPTION). MY TOP 1/3 OF MY MIDDLE FINGER GOT CAUGHT IN A HOLE WHERE THE UNDERCARRIAGE FOR THE SEAT ATTACHES TO THE FLOOR. BUT WHEN THE SEAT WENT BACK, MY FINGER WAS NOT ONLY SMASHED, BUT ALSO STUCK. I TRIED TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION TO MOVE THE SEAT UP, WHICH DIDN'T HELP. I WAS CRYING TO MY HUSBAND TO HELP, BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG! I FINALLY REACHED OVER WITH MY RIGHT HAND TO THE SEAT CONTROLS AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE SEAT BACK ENOUGH TO RELEASE MY FINGER. I HAD FOUR LACERATIONS--TWO RADIATING FROM THE CORNERS OF MY NAIL BED. THE OTHER TWO WERE ON THE BACK SIDE OF MY FINGER. THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA (FAR FROM HOME OR WHERE WE WERE GOING), SO MY HUSBAND WENT INTO THE STORE AT THE GAS STATION, BOUGHT FIRST AID SUPPLIES, WRAPPED UP MY FINGER, AND I PUT IT IN A CUP OF ICE. THE FINGER WAS PRETTY HORRIBLE AND WAS INCREDIBLY PAINFUL. I KEPT THINKING THAT A CHILD WOULD HAVE LOST A FINGER. WHEN I SLOW DOWN AT LOW RATES OF SPEED, OCCASIONALLY THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE AS IF IN THE ABS MODE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION ON THE ABS SPEED SENSORS, LOCATED WITHIN THE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY, FORMED BY ROAD SALT. THIS PROBLEM JUST APPEARED WITHOUT WARNING OR PROVOCATION. WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND LOW SPEEDS, STOPPING DISTANCES ARE LENGTHEN BY 10 TO 30 PERCENT. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL YEARS IN OTHER STATES. FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON, IT DOES NOT PERTAIN TO WISCONSIN. EVEN AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS, THE PART TO REPAIR MY TRUCK REMAINS ON BACKORDER. THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER CAN ONLY PROVIDE THEM IF I PURCHASED THE WHOLE BEARING ASSEMBLY WHICH IS QUADRUPLE THE PRICE OF THE PART THAT I NEED. OF COURSE, I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNFAIR AND WHILE I WAIT FOR THE APPROPRIATE PART TO REPAIR MY TRUCK, I AM PUTTING MY SAFETY, AS WELL AS OTHERS, IN JEOPARDY (THIS IS SAD TO SAY BUT I AM NOT USING PRUDENT DECISION-MAKING SKILLS). OF COURSE, THE VEHICLE WAS GREAT FOR THE FIRST 37,990 MILES. MY FIRST PROBLEM CAME ON 10/31/06, ONLY 2 YEARS 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE DATE. MY TAILGATE HANDLE BROKE WHILE OPENING IT HANDLE REPLACEMENT WAS $568. TO MY SURPRISE AND APPARENTLY ALSO TO THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE EXISTING SPOILER HAD TO BE TORN OFF AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE TO ACCESS THE HANDLE. THAT WAS AN ADDITIONAL $186 PLUS LABOR. I QUESTION THE DESIGNERS OF THE TAILGATE ASSEMBLY. WHY WOULD ANYONE DESIGN PARTS THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE DESTROYED IN ORDER TO SERVICE ANOTHER PART? IN FACT, WHY WOULD ANY PART THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE USED FREQUENTLY BY A REGULAR TRUCKER BREAK SO EASILY? OF COURSE, NEITHER THE WARRANTY NOR THE GM PROTECTION PLAN COVERED THIS. THE NEXT PROBLEM OCCURRED ON 12/27/06 AT 41,901 MILES, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULDN'T SHUTOFF. INTO THE DEALERSHIP WE WENT AND $334 LATER A WIPER BOARD WAS REPLACED. NO WARRANTY AGAIN COVERED THIS PROBLEM. I NO SOONER GOT HOME AND HAD TO RETURN ON 12/28/06 AT 41,944 MILES. NOW MY DASHBOARD LIGHT SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WAS ON. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THE TRANSFER CASE ENCODER SHORTED OUT AND $779 LATER IT WAS FIXED. I MIGHT HAVE USED THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE 8-10 TIMES AT THE MOST. 1) I HAVEN'T REPLACED ANYTHING, OR DONE ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. 2) A-PROBLEM THAT IM EXPERIENCING IS THAT WHEN MY AVALANCHE IS SITTING STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS THAT I AM DOING 30 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY IT COMPLETELY STOPS WORKING AND GOES TO OVER 120 MPH. B-MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW DOESN'T WORK EITHER, THE MOTOR SLOWLY STARTED GIVING OUT ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20-35 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY VIBRATED. TOTAL CONTROL WAS LOST OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER INTO THE OTHER LANE RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE HITTING THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, POPPING NOISES WERE HEARD WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT GOING FORWARD AND IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD WAS BROKEN. THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NOT A POLICE REPORT FILED.

DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WOULD TAKE VERY LITTLE FUEL AT A TIME AND SHUT THE PUMP OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER LINE. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TAKE FUEL AT ALL , IT LEAKED FUEL ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN . DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT RACK AND PINION STEERING PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE CLANGED WHILE CHANGING GEARS. WHEN PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND DRIVING BETWEEN 60 - 70 MPH HE COULD HEAR A WHINING SOUND. WHEN HE RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE NOISE STOPPED. WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 CHEV, AVALANCHE DOWN A DIRT ROAD I EXPERIENCED A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AS I SLOWED DOWN THE SOUND GOT LOUDER AND GAVE A SNAP SOUND. I WAS ALBLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, BUT LATER LEARNED I WAS EXPERIENCING A CRACKED ALINIUM RIM. WE HAVE CALLED THE DEALER SHIP AS THE TRUCK HAS 17,500 MILES ON THE RIM. THEY NEED TO INSPECT THE OLD RIM TO MAKE SURE WE DID NOT DAMAGE IT IN ANY WAY. WHY WOULD I ? IT IS SO HARD TO CHANGE A TIRE ON THE AVALANCE, NOT TO MENTION I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IF THE TIRE PASSES INSPECTION THEN WE MIGHT HAVE A NEW RIM. *AK

KEPT FOR 11 DAYS WITHOUT INFORMATION GIVEN VERBALLY OR IN THE MAIL. CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS. TRUCK AGAIN STOPPED ON FREEWAY ON 12/27/04. RE-STARTED AFTER TURNING OFF AND WAITING A COUPLE MINUTES.
