Airbag warning won't go says my airbag is disabled

The contact owned a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, he lost control of the vehicle after driving over a pothole and crashed into a telephone pole. The pole fell on the vehicle and the fire department had to remove the contact from the vehicle. The front passenger's side of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags in the vehicle failed to deploy during the impact. The contact sustained three fractured ribs and one lacerated lung which required medical attention via hospital. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously serviced for an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number for the Air Bags prior to the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LTZ 5.3L that has a dashboard panel that is completely falling apart and cracking everywhere. This includes MULTIPLE cracks and broken pieces surrounding the airbag. I am worried these pieces could get propelled by the airbag if the airbag were to deploy. These cracks and broken parts of the dash have also caused multiple other things to become loose. The controls on the front of the dash are falling out because they can no longer be bolted to the dashboard panel due to it's pieces being broken. I was hoping chevy had a recall as this is an issue with many of their trucks but could not find any information about it. I was hoping there might be some information or help with supplying a replacement dashboard panel part #15915974 from GM/Chevrolet. Thank you.

The 2007 Chevy Avalanche dash board shakes vigorously and cracking apart especially near the airbag and steering column. Chevy should issue a recall to fix the the dash board and stabilize the dashboard supports.

The sunroof glass broke broke away while I was in the interstate going 70 miles a hour. It was so scary. Thank God there wasn't anyone behind me at the time. This could have went thru a cars windshield behind me and killed them. They need to build these better or be illegal in the US. I am putting a claim in with my insurance co. I don't know if it's covered. The garage that will be repairing mine said he gets many calls of this happening. Even though it's may not be a vehicle defect like breaks but it surly is a hazard issue. Even the insurance girl I was talking to said one almost hit her. She was lucky she was going up on the side of the vehicle that lost it and not behind it. This has not been a recall and something should be done about sunroofs. Extra brackets to hold them in maybe should be applied on any vehicle with a sunroof. I'm telling you it scared me to death when it broke. My heart was pounding and it could of caused me to panic and get in an accident. I had to drive with one hand holding my inside sliding cover. And if it had been pouring rain I would of had water pouring in and that would be an electrical issue. Please don't let this issue continue. Please have every vehicle with a sunroof recalled and have extra brackets added. Can you imagine if you was driving on the highway and a sunroof came flying at you. It would be worse than the ice on vehicles that is illegal. Never did I ever expect this to happen. I would pray this would come under highway safety. They are so dangerous. I will never purchase another vehicle with one again. I am waiting on the insurance co.

DASH IS CRACKING IN MULTIPLE PLACES. THIS WOULD BE A HAZARD IF A ACCIDENT WAS TO HAPPEN AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY PLASTIC SHARDS WOULD BE SHOT TOWARDS ANY OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO DUE TO THE POOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PRODUCT PIECES OF THE DASH ARE NOT LOCKED INTO PLACE LIKE DESIGNED BECAUSE OF THE DASH CRACKING IN SPOTS THAT ARE DESIGNED FOR TRIM PIECES TO CLIP IN.

CONCERNED DASH IS SO BRITTLE ANY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WILL CAUSE THE DASHBOARD TO SEPARATE INTO PIECES AND BECOME SHRAPNEL. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST CRACK STARTED APPROXIMATELY IN NOV 2011.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds or upon starting the vehicle, the ABS, traction control, and check engine warning lights remained illuminated. The contact stated that the heater and air condition failed to operate. The contact also stated that the dashboard was cracked. The rubber padding for the wires under the hood and under the front driver’s side was dry rotted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was notified of a major electrical malfunction and engine misfire. The mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 280,000.

- My dashboard has had a large crack in it for some time now and I am needing it to be repaired as I am not the only one with this issue. - The dashboard is considered the cover for the instrument/control panel of my vehicle. It is not in good shape due to this crack which would cause a greater hazard should the air bag deploy and cause the dash to send pieces of plastic flying everywhere. - This problem has already been brought to GM's attention in a lawsuit. - It has been inspected by myself and other passengers in the vehicle and a cause for great concern since I have no idea why the crack even appeared after having taken care of my truck very well since the first day I've owned it. - No warning lamps that I am aware of but then again, not sure if issues I've faced since owning it are due to this crack.

AFTER A WEEKEND OF CAMPING (RV) MY AVALANCHE WOULD NOT START, BATTERY LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD. THE RPM $ MPH WERE MOVING UP & DOWN, CLICKING SOUNDS WERE COMING FROM THE FRONT SEAT ARM RESTS, NO POWER TO THE WINDOWS & LOCKS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED & BOTH THE AVALANCHE & RV HAD TO BE TOWED. DIAGNOSE-U0140 LOSS OF COMMUNICATION OF BCM, DEFECTIVE BODY CONTROL MODULE, REPLACED CONTROL MODULE.

I USED MY FACTORY REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE TRUCK THE IGNITION SPARKED TWICE AND THEN WENT ON FIRE, FOR NO REASON IT JUST STARTED BURNING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN AND ALL OF WHAT IS AROUND IT BURNED UP WE USED A PITCHER OF WATER TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, I CONTACTED GM AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS. Dash is cracked in so many spots and missing peices to where it is unsafe. In an accident those loose and broken peices can hurt a passenger/driver. Can't even get the airbag recall taken care of because the dash is too damaged.

THE VEHICLE, FROM THE TIME IT WAS NEW, HAD USUALLY CONSUMED ABOUT 0.5 QUARTS OF OIL EACH OIL CHANGE, WHICH I WOULD CONSIDER NORMAL. THIS CONDITION BEGAN TO WORSEN AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES TO ABOUT 1.0 QUARTS PER OIL CHANGE. THIS CONDITION CONTINUED TO WORSEN, AND AT APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES BEGAN TO CONSUME 1 QUART OF OIL EACH 1,500 MILES IN CITY DRIVING, AND CLOSER TO 1,000 MILES WITH SIGNIFICANT HIGHWAY DRIVING. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND THEY REPLIED THAT THIS AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION WOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. BETWEEN 85,000 AND 135,000 MILES I HAVE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS TWICE. IN EACH INSTANCE THE PLUGS WERE FOULED AND WET WITH OIL. THE IGNITION COILS WERE REPLACED ON MULTIPLE CYLINDERS AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST SPARK PLUG CHANGE. AS COMPARED TO THE OWNERS MANUAL, THE SPARK PLUGS SHOULD ONLY REQUIRE SERVICE EVERY 100,000 MILES. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND THEY CONTINUE TO REPLY THAT THE AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION I EXPERIENCE IS NORMAL. I HAVE OWNED MORE THAN 10 VEHICLES OVER THE COURSE OF +30 YEARS AND NEVER HAD AN ENGINE CONSUME OIL AT THIS RATE. THIS AMOUNT OF USE IS NEITHER NORMAL NOR GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW AND AT ABOUT 30000 MILES IT STARTS TO BURN OIL.ABOUT A QUART BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED LIFTERS.THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE.THEN DID OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHERE IT GOT TO THE POINT OF BURNING 1QUART OF OIL EVERY 800 MILES.TOOK BACK IN THEN WAS TOLD EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER AND IT IS NORMAL WEAR.TRUCK AT THAT TIME ONLY HAD 73000 MILES ON IT(AUG.2015).THEY TOLD ME IT COULD BE$3600 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.I THAN TOLD THEM NOT TO TOUCH IT AND STILL DEALING WITH ISSUE AT 78000 MILES.

VEHICLE USED WAY TOO MUCH OIL. OIL CONSUMPTION WAS EXTREME. BEGAN TO HEAR A TICKING SOUND, WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY THE LITE UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. AND SMOKE BEGAN TO BILLOW OUT THE EXHAUST. TOOK IT TO DEALER SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. READING POSTS ON LINE EVERYONE IS COMPLAINING OF SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY MANUFACTURER. NOW CAR IS SITTING WAITING TO GET AN ENGINE

IT STARTED WITH A TICKING NOISE AND WHEN I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE THEY SAID THAT IT WAS MY LIFTERS AND TO REPLACE THEM IT WOULD COST 5-6 THOUSAND, AND THAT I MIGHT AS WELL REPLACE THE ENGINE. I LATER FIND OUT THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH ALL THE 07 BUT THE MANUFACTORY WANT RECALL OR ASSIST WITH REPLACEMENT COST.

First recall, Only dealer on Island (Hawaii) went out of business and couldn't be done by a GM dealer. Windshield washer fluid heater was removed by a mechanic shop at my own expense. Second recall, The passenger airbag inflator hasn't been done due to the fact that 2007 - 2014 Chevy Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban & GMC Yukon are known for cracked dashboards which includes my Avalanche. My dashboard was cracked before the airbag recall and I covered the dashboard with fiberglass mat and resin to repair it as a new dashboard was not covered by warranty and exceeded over $2,000.00 to replace. The area to access the airbag is sealed and would require a new dashboard. There is now a new Chevy dealer here that can do the recall but I would have to pay the cost to replace the dashboard so it hasn't been done as I'm not able or willing to pay for the additional expense.

DASH CRACKED WITH 3 LARGE CRACKS AT 30,000 MILES AND CHROME TRIM ON DOOR HANDLES ALSO PEELED WITH SHARP EDGES. BOTH WERE REPLACED BY DEALER AND CRACKED AGAIN WITH < 10,000 ADDITIONAL MILES GM REFUSED TO REPLACE UNLESS I PAID 1/2 THE COST OF $1200 SO NEVER GOT FIXED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS OF OTHERS AND GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFECTS. I WORKED FOR GM AND SOMEONE TOLD ME THEY WERE USING TOO MUCH TORQUE WHEN THE DASHES WERE INSTALLED BUT GM WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE NUMBER 7 COIL PACK WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE NUMBER 7 COIL PACK AND THE NUMBER 7 SPARK PLUG TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WOULD CAUSE LACERATIONS TO THE CONTACT'S HAND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED AND THERE WERE CONCERNS OF THE AIR BAGS BEING COMPROMISED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. I HAD BEEN NOTICING THAT THERE WAS A SLIGHT NOISE ON THE RIGHT FRONT END OF MY 2007 AVALANCHE. I CHECKED THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON; ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT, STABILIZER TRACT LIGHT COMES ON PLUS OIL LIGHT AND OTHER LIGHTS. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY AVALANCHE KEEPS BREAKING DOWN. AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE HAD PROBEMS WITH THE WIRING. IN DECEMBER 2011 MY AVALANCHE SHUT ITSELF OFF DURING A SNOW STORM. EVENTUALLY, IT STARTED BUT BECAUSE OF REDUCED POWER IT WOULD ONLY GO BETWEEN 35-45 MILES PER HOUR. I MADE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP, THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, BUT REPLACED SENSORS AND/OR RELAYS. IN JUNE 2012 THE LIGHTS CAME ON, I COULD ONLY GO APPROX 35-40 MILES PER HOUR. CALLED AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. ON THE WAY TO THE APPOINTMENT THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. I TOOK IT TO A NON DEALER SERVICE REPAIR SHOP, BECAUSE THEY WERE THE CLOSEST. WHEN THEY LOOKED THE CAR OVER THE WIRES WERE EATEN. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE NEWER CARS HAVE A SOY BASE IN THEIR WIRING AND THAT THE RODENTS LOVE TO EAT THIS PRODUCT. WHY ARE THEY USING THIS SOY BASED WIRING? THIS IS NOT SAFE. I CAN NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE BREAK DOWN LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT IS GETTING VERY COSTLY WHEN PARTS ARE BEING REPLACED WHEN IT IS THE WIRING THAT IS FAULTY. TRAVELING ON FREEWAY AT APPROX 55 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. ACCELERATED TO PASS TRUCK, WHEN LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR MY TRUCK WENT INTO PASSING GEAR AND ACCELERATED RAPIDLY TO 80+MPH. APPLIED BRAKE AND ATTEMPTED TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL. NEITHER WORKED. PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RPMS WENT TO APPROX 6500 RPM, THEN MOTOR SHUT OFF. COASTED TO SIDE SHOULD. POLICE WAS BEHIND ME AND WROTE ME A TICKET FOR 80 MPH. OFFICER WAS NOT INTERESTED IN LISTENING TO PROBLEMS I HAD ENCOUNTERED. WROTE ME A TICKET FOR $728.93. APPROX 1.5 HOURS LATER I WAS RETURNING HOME AND TRIED CRUISE CONTROL. IT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED INTO PASSING GEAR AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I PUT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND RPMS WENT TO OVER 6000RPM AND SHUT OFF MOTOR. DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDDLE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL.STOPPED ON SIDE RESTARTED TRUCK AND DISENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL. I WAS SUCCESSFUL ON THE DISENGAGE. We are repair facility. on or about 5/2/2023 the vehicle was towed into our shop with the right front wheel bearing sheared off - the customer stated he did not have any impact/accident with the vehicle. We noted that the wheel bearing still rotated - no explanation on why the hub would shear off. At the time, we inspected the entire front suspension (with extra emphasis on the left front bearing/hub assembly) and found no deficiencies. On, or about 5/19/23 the vehicle was towed into the shop - the left front hub/wheel bearing assembly had sheared off. In 30+ years in business, we've never seen a hub shaft sheer - let alone 2 on the same vehicle

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated and a message indicating that the vehicle was in Reduced Power Engine mode was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that he disconnected and reconnected the battery and was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made abnormal clicking sounds. The contact stated that the check engine, traction control, ABS, stabili-trak and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle would jerk while driving. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the spark plugs, brake light switch, and transmission oil filter were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

I DROVE TO WORK & PARKED MY 2007 AVALANCHE IN MY EMPLOYERS TRUCK GARAGE AS I DO EVERY DAY. I WENT INTO THE OFFICE ATTENDED A JOB BRIEFING & WE PUT ON OUR COVERALLS FOR WORK THEN WE GOT READY TO LEAVE TO GO TO THE 1ST JOBSITE BUT AS SOON AS THE 1ST TWO COWORKERS WALKED OUT OF THE SHOP THEY TURNED AROUND YELLING THAT MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. I DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM AT 1ST BECAUSE I HAD JUST PARKED LIKE 15 MINUTES PRIOR. PARKED & NOT RUNNING. WELL I LOOKED AND MY WHOLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS FULL OF FLAMES. WE USED 4 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS TO PUT THE FIRE OUT & THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO FINISH. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED & I ONLY HAD LIABILITY INSURANCE.

THE MECHANIC TOLD ME WHEN WE BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN TO FIND OUT WHY THE ENGINE HAD A HESITATION IN IT, THAT WE SHOULD HOPE IT WAS THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SEALS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED THAT CAUSED THE HESITATION BECAUSE THE ONLY OTHER TIMES HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE 2007 GMC ENGINES THAT HE HAD SEEN THESE PROBLEMS WITH ALOT OF THE 2007 CHEVY AND GMC TRUCKS INCLUDING HIS OWN. WE ALSO ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE TRUCK NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK WAS GOING THROUGH OIL VERY QUICKLY BUT THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE SEALS WEREN'T LEAKING SO DIDN'T KNOW WHY WE WERE BURNING OIL SO FAST. THE DASH HAS CRACKED AT THE CORNER OF THE AIR BAG AND IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT IT COULD SEND SHARDS FLYING. THE DRIVERS DOOR STICKS AND THE STABILITY CONTROL GO'S IN AND OUT OF WORKING ORDER. THE ELECTRIC MIRRORS STOPPED FOLDING IN AND TILTING DOWN AND TRIED TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT CHEVROLET SAID THEY WOULDN'T GIVE THE MECHANIC THE CODE TO GET INTO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO FIX IT AND THE BACK UP SENSOR THAT HAD STOPPED WORKING ALSO. WE NOW HAVE TO GO TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT FELT LIKE IT HAD SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. DRIVE IS COMPLETELY DEAD, WHEN I PUT ITINTO DRIVE, I GET NOTHING. SO I PUT IT IN 1ST, AND IT WORKED, IT WENT INTO GEAR. THEN WHEN I STARTED TO ACCELERATE IT MADE THIS HORRIBLE SCRATCHING/GRINDING/WHINING SOUND. SO I CAN ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND SWITCH TO 2ND, SLOWLY, AND ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND SWITCH TO 3RD. 3RD FEELS GOOD WHEN I ACCELERATE BUT THEN IF I STEP ON IT, IT SLIPS OUT OF 3RD BACK TO THAT NEUTRAL FEELING. IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY IN 1ST AND 2ND I GET THAT HORRIBLE SOUND AND GRINDING FEEL.IT IS SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM OVER AND OVER. SOME SAY THE DEALER CHARGE THEM OVER $2800 PLUS TO REPAIR OTHERS SAY SOME DEALERS FIXED THE PART IN THE TRANS CALLED THE FORWARD SPRAG GEAR AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. ITS CRAZY THAT SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. 95 PERCENT OF THE TRUCKS DESPITE THE MILEAGE ( 30, 000 TO 93, 000) ON HER TRUCK DID THIS RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. MY TRUCK 07 WITH ONLY 62, XXX ON IT TRANS HAS NOW DONE THE SAME THING AS EVERYONE ELSE TRUCK. SOMEONE SHOULD FORCE GM TO RECALL THESE TRANSMISSION AND FIX THEM. I AM A SOLDIER WITH 17YRS OF ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE AND I WAS HOME OVER THE WEEKEND FOR THE MLK WEEKEND WITH MY FAMILY. TRAVELING AT A NORMAL RATE AND SPEED ON A 5-LANE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE LOSS POWER, ENGINE LIGHTS ACTIVATED. AFTER MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE OFF THE HIGHWAY, I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. NO SIGNS OF SMOKE OR ANY LEAKS FROM ENGINE (TOPSIDE OR UNDERNEATH). I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND UPON DOING SO THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AND RAN AT A ROUGH IDLE, CLEARLY NOT ON ALL 8 CYLINDERS. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AGAIN. FROM THAT POINT ON IT WAS TOWED. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP (AFTER 8 DAYS AND 449 MILES LATER) THEN TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. WHEN THEY RECEIVED THE VEHICLE THE ORIGINAL CODES HAD BEEN TAKEN BY A PRECISION TUNE MECHANIC (NEAREST FACILITY FROM LOCATION OF BREAK DOWN) THE DEALERSHIP THEN INFORMED ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WAS APOLOGETIC FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE. I RECEIVED A BILL FOR $103.95 AND MY VEHICLE WHICH HAD ONLY A 1/8 OF A TANK OF FUEL. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND GM RECALL NO:08048 CONSEQUENCE: MAY CAUSE ELECTRICAL FEATURES TO MALFUNCTION. IN APR 2009 I TOOK MY 2007 CHEVY AVALANCHE IN FOR SERVICING. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WAS ON AND I HAD RECALL #0848 PERFORMED. THIS RECALL WAS TO INSTALL A WIRE HARNESS (HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE SHORTCIRCUIT). THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND AN 02 SENSOR WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY AUG/SEPT I HAD AN ODOR IN THE VEHICLE (SMELLED LIKE DIRTY FEET OR THE INTERIOR CARPET WAS WET FOR SOME TIME, WITHOUT PROPER VENTILATION TO DRY. HOWEVER, I THOUGHT THAT WAS ODD AS I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY LEAKS INSIDE THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE.) ON OR ABOUT OCT 2ND, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE WHICH I DID. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE HAD LOST OIL PRESSURE AND A SENSOR WAS REPLACED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WORK WAS PERFORMED THE SMELL WENT AWAY BUT THAT SAME EVENING I WAS DRIVING AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED GOING, FLUID SPRAYING, WHILE IN THE OFF POSITION. I HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF TO GET IT TO STOP. I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE DEALER, SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 OR 3 TIMES. THE END OF DEC I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE INTERMITTENT WIPER/FLUID PROBLEM AND I THOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THEIR DIAGNOSIS FOR THE WIPER UNIT WAS THAT THE MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY REFERRED TO BULLETIN #4298, DATED 02/26/07, AND PART #1910885. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT ALL THE FAILED SENSORS/PARTS ARE RELATED TO THE RECALL AND I AM HOPING THE INVESTIGATION TO THE RECALL IS STILL OPEN/ON-GOING. FYI: WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE MY BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER BEING INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP. REPAIRS TO THE FUEL PUMP, DISTORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD, THE BODY DEFECTS,REAR-VIEW MIRROR, LOUD SQUEALING BRAKES,THE HANDLES OF THE DOORS THAT HAS PEELED AND THE STEERING WHEELS INNER FACES HAS ALSO PEELED.
