TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH THAT HE BELIEVES WAS CAUSED BY ABS FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. AS A RESULT, HE REAR-ENDED FOUR OTHER VEHICLES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND TWO OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED. THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THE VEHICLE AS A "MISSILE" WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO USE THE BRAKES. AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, HE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR AND PULSATING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT IS CURRENTLY BEING SUED BY TWO OCCUPANTS INVOLVED IN THE CRASH REGARDING BACK INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS OVER TEN YEARS OLD; THEREFORE, NO ASSISTANCE COULD BE PROVIDED. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 99V193000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES HYDRAULIC ANTILOCK. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.

I BOUGHT MY 94 CHEVY BLAZER IN JAN 2000. IN 2005, MY ABD LIGHT WENT ON. THE DEALER SAID MY ABS BRAKE MODULATOR VALVE FAILED AND THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE ABS UNIT. IT COSTS $100 USED AND OVER $3K NEW. I FOUND AN ARTICLE STATING THE RECALL OF THIS PAT IN 1999 THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE THESE REPAIRS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE? *NM

DT: CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 17, 2005, DUE TO BRAKES NOT WORKING. WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, USING THE BRAKES ON AND OFF, THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER TRIED PULLING THE PARKING BRAKE, IN CASE SHE HIT IT ACCIDENTALLY. WHEN CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES SHE COULD NOT STOP BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. MECHANIC STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER LOCAL SERVICE STATION, AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT SOMETIMES THE ABS MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO NOT WORK. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THE ABS SENSOR WAS OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS DISCONNECTED HER ABS, AND HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THEN.*AK

EGR VALVE MAKES CAR SURGE AND DIE ALMOST EVERY YEAR AND WE HAVE TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED TO CHANGE IT OUT EACH TIME. ($50+ JUST TO GET THE CAR CHECKED BY THEM SO THEY CAN TELL ME ITS A CODE 32-BAD EGR THEN 2-3 HUNDRED FOR PART AND LABOR). OF COURSE I STOPPED USING THE DEALERSHIPS AND WENT TO A SMALL BUSINESS MECHANIC AND CUT $100 OFF THAT. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE FUEL PUMP HAS GIVEN OUT TWICE BUT MY SON HAS FIXED IT EACH TIME FOR ME.

DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 1994 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALLS 99041 AND 99046 CONCERNING BRAKE FAILURE WERE ISSUED. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER THEY TOLD HIM THAT THIS VEHICLE'S VIN WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALLS. HOWEVER, WHEN THEY PUT IN THE VIN NO RECALLS WERE SHOWN, BUT THEY AGREED THAT THEY FELL WITHIN THE RECALL SPECIFICATION. THEY WERE NOT DOING THE RECALL WORK. SOMEONE TOLD HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS TOO OLD TO BE FIXED. ALSO NHTSA RECALL 97V096000 FOR THE SEAT BELTS WAS ISSUED. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN THE RECALL. THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES STARTED ON 8-15-05. PREVIOUSLY THE BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN RE: SEAT BELTS: THE INERTIA REELS ON THE FRONT BELTS (BOTH SIDES) OF MY VEHICLE ARE INOPERATIVE 99% OF THE TIME. YANKING THE BELTS ENGAGES THE REELS ONLY OCCASIONALLY. THE ONES IN THE SHOWROOM VEHICLES ENGAGED EVERY TIME. RESEARCH ON THE WEB REVEALS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT CHEVROLET IS CHARGING ALMOST $300 EACH TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE UNITS!. INRE: THE ABS BRAKES: I WAS TOWING A BOAT AND HAD TO SLOW, QUICKLY, FOR A YELLOW LIGHT TURNING RED. AS THE ABS ENGAGED I LOST MY BRAKES AND WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION! I PURCHASED A CAR FORM ZETZ AUTO 34 DAYS AGO. I RETURNED THE 1994 CHEVY BLAZER FOR REPAIR DUE TO THE BRAKES GOING OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE REPAIR SHOP ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COMPANY MADE THE REPAIRS. I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FRONT END FRAME MAKING A CRACKING SOUND WITH EVERY TURN AND WHILE DRIVING. THE REPAIR SHOP STATING THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. TODAY, 3/21/08 I DELIVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION. I CALLED TO CONFIRM THE REPAIR. THE OWNER STATED OVER THE PHONE IT WAS THE TIRES, THEY ARE TOO BIG FOR THE VEHICLE. I STATED THESE ARE THE SAME NEW TIRES THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PICKUP TRUCKS, CREW CABS, UTILITY TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH THE POLARITY OF THE WIRING FOR THE ZERO ADJUST BRAKE SWITCH REVERSED FROM WHAT WAS SPECIFIED ON THE SWITCH DRAWING. WITH THE REVERSED POLARITY, THE CONTACTS IN THE BRAKE SWITCH CAN WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. THE BRAKE SWITCH WILL PERFORM NORMALLY UNTIL THE BRAKE SWITCH CONTACTS WEAR OUT, RESULTING IN LOSS OF THE BRAKE LAMPS WITHOUT ANY WARNING TO THE DRIVER. WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING WITHOUT WARNING ,THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRESENT RECALL, BUT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE G.M. DEALER REPLACED THIS AT MY EXPENSE DUE TO ME ALMOST HAVING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT DOES NOT LOCK IN PLACE ALL THE TIME AND HAS ALMOST THROWN PEOPLE INTO MY WINDSHEILD. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN TO THE G.M. DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES TO BE REPAIRED, AND HAS YET TO BE REPAIRED. THIS WAS EVEN WHILE THIS VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. *AK

VEHICLE CRASH, CAUSED BY THE BRAKES GOING OUT. APPLIED THE BRAKES AT 5-10 MPH AND THE VEHICLE TURNED LEFT AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL, THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT. AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING HOT AIR DUE TO LOOSE FITTING. POPPING NOISE IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS, DEALER FOUND NO PROBLEMS. BANGING NOISE IN THE RIGHT REAR OVER BUMPS, DUE TO TAILGATE BEING OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. STEERING WHEEL NOISY WHILE DRIVING.
