PURCHASED THIS PREVIOUSLY ENJOYED VEHICLE FROM DEALER JUNE 2009, FIRST SNOW FALL FOUND THAT THE ABS SYSTEM LOCKS UP WHEN GOING OVER ANY SLIPPERY SERVICE. PEDAL IS HARD TO COMPRESS DURING INCIDENT AND RESISTS PRESSURE, AND MAKES GROWLING SOUND. OUTSIDE OBSERVER NOTES THAT FRONT WHEEL ACTUALLY LOCKS UP AND SOON NOT TURN DURING OCCURRENCE. WILL BE SERVICED BY DEALER ON FOLLOWING FRIDAY, SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS PURCHASED WHEN CAR WAS PURCHASED. WILL RETURN WITH MORE INFORMATION AFTER. WHILE TRAVELING AT 25 MPH ON A WET ROADWAY I APPROACHED A VEHICLE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. AT AROUND 6 CAR LENGTHS I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, RESULTING IN A REAR END CRASH WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE AS IF THE ABS BRAKES WERE ACTIVATING. THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED TO PROVIDE MUCH STOPPING POWER. THE ROTORS ARE WEARING OUT, AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE POWER BOOSTER FAILED WHICH WAS LOCATED BEHIND THE MASTER CYLINDER AND MOUNTED TO A FIREWALL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP IN THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE PEDAL WOULD NEED TO BE APPLIED REALLY HARD THEN WOULD STOP 15 TO 25 INCHES FURTHER. I TOOK MY 1997 BLAZER TO ALEVANDER CHEVROLOT BECAUSE THE FRONT END WAS MAKING A GRINDING AND POPPING SOUND ON 9/23/04 MILES AT TIME OF SERVICE WAS 86,921 THEY TOLD ME ALL THAT WAS WRONG WAS IT WAS DRY THEY CHARGED ME $222.94 AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ELSE. THEN ON 8/14/05 MILES AT TIME IS 91,844 WHICH IS LESS THAN 5,000 MILES LATER THE UPPER BALL JOINT BROKE AND THE WHEEL FELL OVER THANK GOD WE WERE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE ONLY DOING 10 MPH OR WE COULD OF BEEN KILLED ANYWAY ALL THE DEALER IS DOING IS REPLACING THE UPPER BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES THE LOWER THEY SAY IS OK THEY ARE NOT REPLACING THE WHEEL THAT WAS DESTROYED OR FOR A FRONT ALIGNMENT WHICH WILL BE NEEDED TO SAVE MY TIRES. *AK

I HAD AN ISSUE WHERE MY TRUCK DID NOT WANT TO START BUT THE ENGINE WOULD TURN SO I KNEW IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY BECAUSE MY HEADLIGHTS DID WORK. I THEN NOTICED MY INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE NOT ON SO I FOUND THAT VERY STRANGE. AFTER SO MANY TIMES TRYING TO START MY TRUCK I NOTICED MY TRUCK WOULD ONLY TURN ON IF THE INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ON. ONE NIGHT AFTER WORK I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 83 IN ILLINOIS AND I WAS GOING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON TO ROUTE 53 AND SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE JUST TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. LUCKILY I W,A ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART VEHICLE. IT WAS AT MIDNIGHT, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES AT THE TIME AND I WAS NOT GOING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. I HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED AND MY VEHICLE WORKS PERFECTLY FINE NOW. *TR

1997 CHEVROLET BLAZER ENGINE REVVED TO A VERY HIGH RPM.*MR AFTER THE VEHICLE HIT A POTHOLE IN THE STREET THE ENGINE REVVED VERY HIGH. IT REVVED SOMEWHERE AROUND 4500 RPM'S. THE CONSUMER POPPED TO HOOD TO SEE IF HE COULD DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE NEXT DAY THE CONSUMER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT BUTTERFLY VALVE WAS OPEN AND SHOWED WHERE THE WEDGE SHAPED PIECE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RIVETED ON. IT APPEARED THAT THE WEDGE PIECE BROKE AWAY FROM THE RIVETS AND PIVOTED DOWN INTO THE THROAT OF THE INJECTOR BODY CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO SENSE THE NEED TO FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL. *NM

MOST RECENTLY WE HAD TO REPLACE THE HINGE ON THE FRONT DOOR, DRIVER SIDE, IT FAILED AND FELL ON TO THE GROUND. TO REPLACE IT COST US $43 AT A BODY SHOP, THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $300 TO REPLACE IT. WHEN THE BLAZER WAS BRAND NEW I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS DRY AND LUBRICATED IT, THEY TOLD ME TO USE WD-40. WHEN WE HAD IT REPLACED THE BODY SHOP FOUND THE DOOR FRAME AT THE STRIKE PLATE HAD BROKEN AND DETERIORATED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. THE BODY SHOP TOLD US THAT THE SECOND PROBLEM PROBABLY CAUSE THE FIRST PROBLEM. THE FACTORY REP SAID IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I MUST OF CLOSED THE DOOR TO HARD AND THAT IT WAS OUR PROBLEM. TO REPAIR THE SECOND PROBLEM WILL COST US $300. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE PASSENGER DOOR INSIDE PANEL HAS BROKEN LOOSE. ON MARCH 25, 2002 MY 1997 CHEVY BLAZER SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGES FROM AN INTERIOR FIRE. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND AN ADJUSTER ASSESSED THE DAMAGES AND REQUESTED A FIRE INSPECTOR EVALUATE THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE FIRE INSPECTOR, RON CAMPBELL 541-276-7731, DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AS A RESULT OF AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO MY CONCERNS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND I FELT THAT I HAD NO RECOURSE BUT TO ACCEPT MY INSURANCE COMPANIES SETTLEMENT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY PAID "MARKET VALUE" ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH LEFT ME WITH A SUBSTANTIAL BALANE DUE ON MY VEHICLE. I NOT ONLY HAVE TO PAY-OFF THE REMAINDER OF THE BALANCE DUE ON THE VEHICLE, BUT I HAD TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TALK WITH THE PERSON ASSIGNED TO MY CASE AT GENERAL MOTORS (MR. ROBERT ST. PIERRE), HIS REPONSE TO ME WAS "... YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED A SETTLEMENT FROM YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY REGARDING THIS MATTER. THEREFORE, GENERAL MOTORS IS UNABLE TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES". I FIND THIS RESPONSE UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE A 1997 CHEROLETY BLAZER AND HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THE MODEL YEAR 2000-2001 RECALL COVERS. MY BOTTOM BRAKE LIGHTS ARE INOPERATIVE AS WELL AS MY HAZARD LIGHTS. THE UPPER CENTER BRAKE LIGHT WORKS FINE. IF I PUSH MY HAZARD SWITCH TO THE SIDE, MY BOTTOM BRAKE LIGHTS WORK AND THE TOP ONE DOESN'T. THE TURN SIGNAL ON OUR 1997 CHEVY BLAZER JUST STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I CALLED THE SHOP TO GET AN APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD THAT THAT WAS A PART THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED BUT ACCORDING TO MY VIN #, MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED. I HAD TO PAY 594.19, FOR A REPLACEMENT PARTS AND SERVICE. THE PART IS CALLED A MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH, AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT SHORTED OUT. NOW I HAVE DRIVEN LOTS OF CARS AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS SWITCH GOING OUT. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IF IT SHORTED OUT THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET MY PART REPLACED EVEN IF MY VIN# DIDN'T MATCH. THIS IS A 1997 CHEVROLET BAZER. THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE AND INGAGES UNDER VARYING CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE IN SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. FRONT SENSORS HAVE BE CHECKED. THIS VEHICLE WILL ENGAGE ANTI-LOCKS AT TIMES WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED. BRAKE SWITCH CHECKS OK. PEDAL WILL DROP UNDER MOST STOPS AND ANTI-LOCK WILL SCREAM AND APPLY. A JERKING BRAKE ACTION IS PRESENT. I DO KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ON 1994-1996 MODELS. BY LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS PROBLEM. HUBS ARE OK. I THINK THE TROUBLE MAY BE IN THE CONTROL UNIT, BUT NO TROUBLE CODES APPEAR AND SCAN TOOL INDICATES NO TROUBLE. I THINK GM HAS PRODUCED DEFECTIVE UNITS. THIS CAR HAS 90000 MILES BUT HAS HAD EXCELLENT CARE AND NO DAMAGE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO DISCONNECT THESE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. THEY ARE UNSAFE. AGAIN, DEALER FOUND NO PROBLEMS AND STATED THAT IT THE DESIGN DEFECT. ABOUT 2 YEARS LATER, MOVED TO SC WHERE NO COLD AIR WAS BLOWING - ONLY OUTSIDE AIR (IT WAS COOLER TO OPEN THE WINDOW). TOOK THE CAR TO PRECISION TUNE AND THEY ADDED FREON AND A DIE TO DETECT LEAKS. THE FREON SEEMED TO MAKE SOME DIFFERENCE. NO LEAK WAS FOUND AFTER A REVISIT A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER. PLACED A COMPLAINT TO THE CHEVROLET 800 NUMBER SERVICE LAST YEAR (FALL OF 02). THE OPERATOR WAS SOMEWHAT HESITANT AND QUESTIONED WHY IT TOOK SO LONG TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND FINALLY MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE COMPRESSOR HAD GONE BAD. THIS PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN DETECTED IF THE PREVIOUS DEALER HAD RUN DIAGNOSTICS. MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TALK TO CHEVROLET POINT OF CONTACT ABOUT WARRANTY COVERAGE. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE INITIAL COMPLAINT WAS AROUND 10,000 MILES AND LAST COMPLAINT WAS AROUND 46000 MILES. CHEVROLET SHOULD PAY FOR SOME OR ALL OF THE COST ($1000).

I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH RIDE QUALITY ON MY 1997 CHEVROLET BLAZER FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE DEALERSHIP ROTATED AND BALANCED THE TIRES NUMEROUS TIMES AS WELL AS CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER CHECKING MY OWNER'S MANUAL, I DETERMINED THAT THE TIRES WERE COVERED UNDER THE 3/36 MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED UNDER THIS WARRANTY. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT TWO OF THE TIRES HAD SEPARATED, BUT ALL FOUR WERE WORN OUT. I TOLD HIM THAT MAY BE TRUE, BUT THEY SHOULD STILL BE COVERED UNDER THE 3/36 WARRANTY. HE STATED THAT THEIR HANDS WERE TIED BECAUSE MICHELIN WOULD STATE THAT THESE WERE ONLY A 30K MILE TIRE AND WERE PAST THEIR USEFUL LIFE. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE ON 11/25/98 TO ATTEMPT TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME THE SAME THING. SINCE THE TIRES WERE WORN OUT, THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THEM. I TOLD HER THAT TWO OF THEM HAD SEPARATED AND ACCORDING TO MY OWNER'S MANUAL, THEY WERE COVERED UP TO 36K MILES. THE PERSON I WAS SPEAKING WITH TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS SORRY BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO AS FAR AS REPLACING THESE TIRES. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. WITH THE TIRE SEPARATION OCCURRING, THIS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE TIRE FAILURE LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER ALSO BELIEVES THAT THEY ARE PROTECTED BY THEIR 3/36 WARRANTY FOR THE FULL TIME WHEN THEY ACTUALLY ARE NOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 CHEVROLET BLAZER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS PUMP AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 97 BLAZER WITH ORIGINAL LOW MILES HAD ENGINE STOP BOTH ON AND OFF THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT WOULD START BACK UP. IN JAN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND RPMS WENT UP. WE PULLED OFF AND FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 3'RD GEAR. ALSO KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE TO REMOVE. ERRORS CAME UP P1860 P0785 AND P740 THAT REFER TO TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT TRANSMISSION BUT IGNITION SWITCH CONTACT BLOCK COMMONLY CALLED THE IGNITION SWITCH, IT IS THE CONTACT SECTION AND NOT THE KEY OR LOCK CYLINDER. THIS IGNITION SWITCH HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE. GM HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN #17006264 ON THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM ACROSS MANY YEARS AND MODELS BUT NO RECALL WAS ISSUED. AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM CAN CAUSE ENGINE TO DIE, LIGHTS TO GO OUT AND OTHER PROBLEMS BUT THE CONTACT FOR THE TRANSMISSION POWER SEEMS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE POINT. I REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE FOR ONE MONTH AND THEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED WITH ERRORS P1860 P0758 P0753 P0740 AND P0785. I TESTED THE IGNITION SWITCH POWER FROM RED/WHITE TO WHITE WIRE AND GOT NO POWER WHEN SWITCH WAS ON SO THE NEW SWITCH FAILED. I TESTED BY TEMPORARY JUMPING A FUSED LINE TO FUSE 24 OUTPUT AND THEN TRANSMISSION WORKED FINE AND THE KEY RELEASED. I AGAIN REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH CONTACT BLOCK UNDER WARRANTY AND NEW SWITCH WORKED FINE EXCEPT THE ERRORS CAME BACK ON P0740, P0785 AND P1860. TRANSMISSION WORKED OK THOUGH SO I TOOK THE BLAZER TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT. THEY RESET CODE ERRORS , CHECKED WIRING, CONNECTIONS AND SWITCH. THE TECHNICIAN SAID MY WORK WAS CORRECT AND EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT FINE AND HE WAS NOT SURE WHY CODES CAME BACK. NOW OK. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A TURN, DRIVING DOWNHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, AND ANOTHER TIME WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. WHILE DRIVING MY 1997 CHEVY BLAZER, I WAS TURNING TO THE LEFT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH. I APPLIED MY BRAKES WHICH STARTED MY DECELERATION, SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT THE FLOOR. 97 BLAZER COOLING SYSTEM FAILURE. FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR THE COOLING SYSTEM HAD TROUBLE. THE RADIATOR HAD A LEAK ( 34391 MILES), THE COOLING SYSTEM CLOGGED UP AND THE HEATER CORE LEAKED FROM DEX-COOL GELLING UP ( 65265 MILES ), AGAIN HEATER CORE LEAKING FROM BAD DEX-COOL ( 104044 MILES ), HEATER CORE LEAKING (114387 MILES). EACH TIME THE HEATER CORE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE COOLING SYSTEM HAD TO BE ACID FLUSHED BY THE DEALER BECAUSE THE DEX-COOL GELLED UP. ALL THESE REPAIRS WHERE DONE BY GM DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THE DEX-COOL WAS GELLING UP OR THE HEATER CORE KEPT LEAKING. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GMC (COMPLAINT # 1-152407734) GMC COULD NOT HELP ME. I FOUND OUT FROM A RADIATOR REPAIR SHOP THAT THEY HAVE HAD MANY GM COOLING SYSTEM FAILURES DU TO THE DEX-COOL CAUSING ELECTROLYSIS. THIS IS THE MAIN CAUSE OF MY PROBLEM AND GM AND THE DEALER WILL NOT ADDRESS IT. THE RADIATOR SHOP SAID THE ONLY REPAIR IS TO FLUSH OUT THE COOLING SYSTEM FOR 36 HOURS THE REFILL IT WITH ANTIFREEZE, NOT DEX-COOL. ALSO ADD AN ANTI-ELECTROLYSIS SOLUTION TO IT AND A RADIATOR CAP WITH AN ANODE ROD ON IT. THEY HAVE HAD VERY GOOD RESULTS WITH THIS REPAIR. WITHIN ONE YEAR I HAD TO REPLACE BALL JOINTS BUT WAS TOLD THAT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL. IN FEB OF 2003 I LOST MY HEAT AND SPENT CLOSE TO 2000 DOLLARS REPLACING FIRST THE WATER PUMP, THEN THE RADIATOR. AFTER THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED WITH A SPECIAL MACHINE THAT WOULD COST ANOTHER 400 DOLLARS. THE SYSTEM HAD TO BE FLUSHED TWICE TO GET MARGINAL HEAT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT MOVE IS TO REPLACE THE HEATER CORE. NOW THE WIPERS STOP WORKING AND ONLY RESTART BY FLIPPING THE SWITCH BACK AND FORTH. NOT REAL GOOD ON THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I RECENTLY HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS OLD AND CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT ACTUALLY HAD LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT AS THEY REPLACED IT IN FEBRUARY WHEN THE WATER PUMP WAS DONE, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THERE IS A BAD DESIGN IN THE BUNDLE OF WIRING ABOVE TRANSMISSION WITH PLASTIC RING HOLDING BUNDLE, THIS BUNDLE IS NOT ATTACHED TO ANYTHING ALLOWING MOVE RUB TILL THEY SHORT OUT IN THE CHEVROLET BLAZERS, MINE IS A 1997. MY BLAZER WIRING CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION SWITCH TO SHORT OUT AND I WAS FIRST TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION SO I TOOK IT FOR SECOND OPINION, THE SECOND SHOP CUT THE WIRE FROM THE BUNDLE, REROUTED IT FROM TRANSMISSION SWITCH AND THE TRANSMISSION SWITCH WORKED. OTHER WIRES IN THE SAME BUNDLE CAUSED SHORTS THROUGH OUT ALL WIRING CAUSING A CONSTANT DRAW OF ELECTRIC AND RUNNING BATTERY DOWN. WHEN A FUSE IS REMOVED IT BREAKS THE CIRCUIT AND BATTERY DOES NOT RUN DOWN. THE SHORTED WIRING CAUSED DAY LIGHTS TO NOT WORK, INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON UNLESS I PULLED THE FUSE AND NUMEROUS OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME THING. THEY ARE NOW DROPPING THE TRANSMISSION TO GET TO THE BUNDLE OF WIRES TO FIX SHORTS AND I AM TAKING PICTURES OF ALL OF THIS. THE SHOP HAD TWO OTHER BLAZERS IN AT THE SAME TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I WILL ALSO TAKE PICTURES OF THOSE BLAZERS, ONE OF THE BLAZERS IS THE SHOP OWNERS WIFE. THE SHOPS ARE TELLING ME IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. I PLAN TO REPORT THIS TO AS MANY AGENCIES AS POSSIBLE AND INTERVIEW AS MANY SHOPS AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, I BELIEVE IT IS A FIRE HAZARD SINCE IT SHORTS OUT. THE WIRING BUNDLE IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP AT THE GAS TANK. I HOPE CHEVROLET WILL ACT SOON AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. MY '1997 CHEVROLET BLAZER LOST ITS CONTROL AFTER FAILING ITS RIGHT FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT OF KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY. RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS OFF THE GROUND AND THE RH FRT KNUCKLE SCRUBBED THE INSIDE OF TIRE RIM. THE CHEVROLET DEALER INFORM ME TO REPLACE THE UPPER BALL JOINT AS A RECALL ITEM. AND THEY CHARGE ME FOR ALL THE OTHER DAMAGED PARTS. SECOND PROBLEM: THE GEAR SHIFTING LEVER DID NOT GO TO THE RIGHT POSITION ON THE PRINDLE DURING MY DRIVING. I ASKED THE CHEVY DEALER TO FIX IT. MY 1977 BLAZER WOULD NOT TURN OVER THIS MORNING. A CHECK OF THE BATTERY (ORIGINAL) INDICATED THAT THE BATTERY ACID WAS LEAKING FROM THE BATTERY AND HAS CORRODED THE BATTERY HOLDER, THE CAR FRAME AND THE BRAKE LINE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OF OTHER VEHICLES FOR LEAKING BATTERY PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM BATTERIES ARE ALSO IN THE 1977 CHEVROLET BLAZER. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED TO THE FRONT BRAKE LINE. I REPLACED THE BATTERY TODAY... AND HAVE KEPT THE OLD ONE IN CASE THE NHTSA WANTS TO SEE IT.*AK

THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME LOOSE TWICE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE REPAIRED AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED SEVERE STEERING DIFFICULTY. ( THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN ALL BLAZERS AND HE'LL SEE ME AGAIN IN ABOUT 15-25K MILES)TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED EARLY BECAUSE THEY WEAR FAST ON THE FRONT. REPLACED BALL JOINT RECENTLY. VEHICLE MAKES EXCESSIVE NOISES IN FRONT END( INCLUDING ENGINE COMPARTMENT) FOR AGE. VEHICLE HAS HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHACE TO INCLUDE IGNITION REPLACEMENT, FUEL PUMP AND SENSORS REPLACED, FUEL GUAGE GOING WACKY,LIGHTS ALWAYS SEEM DIM( I HAVE A HARD TIME SEEING AT NIGHT WHEN DRIVING THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE), VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON TOO MANY OCCASIONS TO LIST AND TOWED ONCE WHILE ON A TRIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BATTERY SEEMS TO DRAIN FO NO APPARENT REASON. SEATS AND BELTS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED ABOUT 4 TIMES. I ONLY DETAIL LISTED ITEMS WHICH I KNOW THE EXACT DATES. WHICH HAPPENED. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER RIGHT NOW FOR ELECTRICAL AND THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO PROBLEM. MY WIFE AND I ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO WORK WITH GM ON THESE ISSUES, BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVED MUCH HELP. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THE GM SERVICE AND THE DEALERS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVY PERSON, BUT I DON'T BELEIVE I WANT TO OWN ANOTHER PROBLEM. I HAVE HEARD MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 199X BLAZER. THE TWO DEALERS WHICH HAVE WORKED ON THIS VEHICLE THE MOST TRY TO TELL MY WIFE THESE PROBLEMS ARE NORMAL. NO VEHICLE OF THIS AGE SHOULD HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE NOT PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A LEASE AND I WAS THE FIRST. NOT ONLY HAS THE TRANSMISSION GONE OUT IN THE 53,000 RANGE BUT THE BRAKES AND THE POWER DOOR LOCKS. I HAVE EXCEEDED THE ALLOTTED MILEAGE AND SO I'M STUCK WITH ALL OF THE REPAIR BILLS. MY TRANSMISSION MECHANIC TOLD ME HE FOUND THE FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT IT WAS A FAULTY PART. CHEVROLET TOLD ME TOO BAD AND I FEEL IN A REALLY RUDE WAY. I REALLY FEEL FOR OTHER WHO HAVE TO REPALCE A TRANSMISSION SO SOON AFTER BUYING A VEHICLE.
