I DROVE TO AUTOZONE ON WEST COLONIAL DR AND HAD MY VEHICLE COMPUTER DIAGNOSED WHICH PRODUCED A CODE THAT STATED (STOP LAMP & REAR HAZARDOUS LAMP FAILURE) THERE IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN 2002 CHEVY BLAZERS VEHICLES, HOWEVER MY 2002 CHEVY BLAZER VIN # [XXX] DOESN'T HAVE THIS RECALL. CHEVY SHOULD IMPLEMENT A RECALL FOR ALL 2002 CHEVY BLAZERS. NOW THE DEALER WANTS OVER $500 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED MY 2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS IN DECEMBER, 2004. GREAT LOOKING VEHICLE WITH NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. THE MOST RECENT AND SEVERE HAS COME OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS. WHILE ACCELERATING ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP, THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY; VERY ROUGH AND THE RPM'S GO TO 4000 OR ABOVE BEFORE SHIFTING OR IF I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. WHILE DRIVING, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SPIKED AND THE CHECK GAUGES LIGHT CAME ON. ONE OF THE BOLTS THAT HOLDS THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING TO THE MANIFOLD HAD SHEARED OFF DUE TO BOLT BRITTLENESS. THIS CAUSED A SERVE LOSS OF COOLANT AND THE REMAINDER OF THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING BOLTS TO BECOME BROKEN OFF IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. RESULTING IN A REPAIR OF AT LEAST $1,000 DUE TO HAVING TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD. THE SHOP WAS ONLY ABLE TO EXTRACT ONE BROKEN BOLT FROM THE MANIFOLD. THIS VEHICLE IS A LEMON. WE HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING ON IT, SOME THINGS MORE THAN ONCE INCLUDING THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND MULTIPLE RADIATORS ALL UNDER 75,000 MILES. WE HAVE REPLACED THE GAS CAP TO THE RADIATOR CAP AND EVEN THE WINDSHIELD TOO. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND INTAKE MANIFOLD AS THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED 5 YEARS AGO DUE TO FAILURE OF THE HEAD GASKET DUE TO A FAULTY GM DESIGN ON ENGINES MADE BETWEEN 2000 AND 2004 AND DEXICOOL COOLANT ISSUES. *TR

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED IN THE IGNITION THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER BUT ONLY MADE A WHINING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, UPON INSPECTION THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED. The Blazer is showing many codes in the ECM, even though it seems to be running properly. The codes include: p0171, p0174, p0101, p0128, p0155, p0300, p1870, p0128, p0155. The dash recently showed warning lights for parking brake, ABS, and Service Engine soon. It was checked a few days ago by a local repair shop. Two previous recalls showed multifunction switch failures which affected many vehicles.

THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 02'CHEVY IMPALA WHEN I TURN IT ON ALL ELECTRIC COMES ON AND THE ENGINE RUNS FOR A SPLIT SECOND AND DIES THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT AND SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM COMES ON I GOT THE FUEL PUMP AND SENSOR REPLACED STILL THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT. IT WAS REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW PUMP, THEN 4 MONTHS LATER THERE IS AN OBVIOUS FUEL LINE ISSUE. MY SONS 2002 BLAZER DIED WHILE GOING DOWN THE STREET AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A LEAK IN THE FUEL LINES. AFTER SPENDING $331 FOR THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW THE CHEVY DEALER WANTS OVER $200 FOR THE FUEL LINES FOR A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE WITH THE TRUCK ITSELF. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL LINES IN THIS YEAR AND MAKE TRUCK WITH NO RECALLS I KNOW OF TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR

HELLO, MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER, THAT I LEASED THEN BOUGHT. I AM THE ONLY OWNER. ON 10-13-06, I SMELLED GAS WHEN I WALKED UP TO THE VEHICLE TO GET IN. I TOOK THE BLAZER INTO MIKE SHAW (GM DEALER) AT 1080 S. COLORADO BLVD. DENVER, COLORADO 80246 TO BE CHECKED. MIKE SHAW FOUND THAT ONE OF THE FUEL LINES COMING OUT OF THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING GAS. MIKE SHAW'S SERVICE ADVISER (CALVIN SCOTT) TOLD ME THAT THEY THOUGHT A ROCK HIT THE FUEL LINE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN (MICHAEL J. TYMITZ) DOING THE WORK ON THE BLAZER SHOWED ME THE LEAK BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE COMPLETE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST WAS $890.51. I ASKED MIKE SHAW IF GM WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME NO. THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE FACTORY WARRANT TIME WISE, BUT ONLY HAS 31,900 MILES ON IT. I CALLED GM MYSELF AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND GM PAID FOR THE LABOR $437.88 PART OF THE REPAIR. AT GM I TALKED TO AMANDA MARKHAM, (SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER IS 1-4384 25465). IT SEEMS TO ME IF THE FUEL LINES CAN BE HIT BY ROCKS THAT A SHIELD SHOULD BE PUT AROUND THE FUEL LINES BY THE FUEL PUMP. I MY SELF, DO NOT KNOW IF A ROCK HIT THE LINE OR NOT. HE THEN ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. HE STATED THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS. 2002 BLAZER LS 4DR 4WD. AROUND 19,000 SUV WAS NOT STOPPING FULLY AT SLOW SPEEDS PLUS SCRAPING NOISE FROM FRONT RIGHT WHEEL THAT WOULD COME AND GO. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONDITION NOR SOUND ON A TEST DRIVE SO THEY SAID TO COME BACK WHEN IT HAPPEN AGAIN. NEXT DAY SAME THING BUT IT STOPPED THE SOUND BEFORE I COULD GO BACK TO THE DEALER. AROUND 20,000 MILES IT WAS CONTINUES SOUND OF SCRAPING FROM FRONT WHEELS. THEN ABOUT 23,000 MILES THE SUV WOULD NOT STOP COMPLETELY AGAIN AT SLOW SPEEDS AND THE SCRAPING SOUND FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN THEY SAID IT WAS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THEY REPAIRED THEM. AROUND 26,000 TOOK SUV TO DEALER FOR OIL LEAK THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE LEAK UNDER MY BUMPER TO BUMPER ZERO DEDUCTIBLE WARRANTY. ALSO THEY SAID MY FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE DOWN TO 1% LEFT WITH DEEP PITTING AND RUST THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY GM $530 COST.. DUE TO I DON'T DRIVE MY SUV 12,000 A YEAR. I HAD THIS BRAKE ROTOR PROBLEM FROM 19,000 MILES .I ONLY HAVE 26,000 MILES ON MY 2002 BLAZER. WITH A 5YR -54,000 MILE WARRANTY THAT STARTED AFTER MY LEASE END. I JUST SAW THE RECALL OF GM TRUCKS AND SUV'S FOR "UNWANTED APPLICATION OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM". I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO SEE THAT THE BLAZER IS NOT INCLUDED ON THIS LIST BECAUSE I OWN A 2002 BLAZER, AND I HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM ON TWO OCCASIONS. TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR ON DRY PAVEMENT THE ANTILOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED AS SOON AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO AVOID TURNING TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE BODY QUIT WORKING. THE BRAKE LIGHT OVER THE HATCH STILL WORKED. THE TURN SIGNALS ALSO WERE NOT AFFECTED. SINCE PURCHASE, 2 REPLACEMENT BATTERIES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. SERVICE DEPT AT DEALERSHIP SAID ALTERNATOR WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. CAR IS STILL DOING THIS BUT DEALER IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND SAYING LOUD ROAR IS MOST LIKELY NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE OEM WHEEL BEARINGS FOR THIS VEHICLE HAVE A 60% FAILURE RATE. THE SOLUTION IS TO UPGRADE TO A HIGHER QUALITY BEARING BEYOND THE OEM ONE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT AND STARTED TO FISH TALE AND SPIN OUT, SHE SAID THAT SHE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT LOCKUP THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DO A 270 SPIN THEN GO BACKWARDS HITTING THE CURB, FLIPPING THE VEHICLE ONTO THE DRIVER SIDE, CAUSING IT TO ROLL. BECAUSE THE SHOULDER WAS AN EMBANKMENT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED ONTO THE TOP THEN ROLLED BACK DOWN ONTO IT'S WHEELS. THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST FACING THE WRONG WAY ON THE HIGHWAY. THE COST OF FIXING THE DAMAGE EXCEED VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCUR EARLIER JUST AS A SPIN OUT (OCT. 2010 ?), STEERING LOCKUP AFTER TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION HAD SOME OIL ON THE ROAD FROM A PREVIOUS ACCIDENT (NOT RELATED TO US); HOWEVER, SHE RECOVER FROM THE SPIN AND JUST TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART THE VEHICLE UNLOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS ASSUME THAT THE SPIN AND LOCKUP WAS FROM THE OIL ON THE ROAD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, AND CRASHED INTO AN UNOCCUPIED PARKED VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY WITH THE LEVEL OF IMPACT IN THE CRASH. WHILE THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SHOULDER SEAT BELT WAS BEING WORN, IT FAILED TO FUNCTION AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO MOVE IN A FORWARD POSITION AS A RESULT HER FACE STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN NOSE, BRUISES ON BOTH ARMS AND SHOULDER AREA. THE AMBULANCE, FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. 2002 S-10 BLAZER 4WD CONCERN FIRST LET ME SAY I HAVE NOT CHANGED THE DRIVERS DOOR PINS AND BUSHINGS EVEN THROUGH I KNEW THEY WERE BAD. THE DOOR CLOSES AND LOCKS ON THE DOOR STRIKER THAN MOUNTS TO THE VEHICLE SIDE POST. HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED, WHICH AT A SERVICE CENTER GETTING THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AND REPLACING THE 4 WD DRIVE SHAFT, I RETURNED TO PICK MY CAR UP. THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AND LATCH, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE ENTIRE DOOR STRIKER ASSEMBLY FRACTURED THE SIDE POST METAL AND PUSHED INTO THE SIDEPOST ASSEMBLY. THIS PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM LATCHING. I WENT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN GRESHAM, OREGON, WE LOOKED AT THE DESIGN, THE DOOR STRIKER IS ONLY MOUNTED TO THE SHEETMETAL WITH A METAL BACKING SUPPORT BEHIND IT. MY QUESTION IS, HOW DID THIS VEHICLE PASS ANY KIND OF SIDE IMPACT TEST WITH THIS DESIGN? THE ONLY THING KEEPING THE DOOR FROM FLYING OPEN IS WHAT I DESCRIBED ABOVE. I AM SHOCKED THAT THE DOOR STRIKER IS NOT SECURED TO A STEEL POST OF SOME KIND. DROVE FROM OHIO TO FLORIDA, 1040 MILES. 250 MILES INTO THE TRIP, MY CONSOLE BECAME EXTREMELY HOT. THE SIDE OF THE CONSOLE TOUCHES THE DRIVERS SEAT AND IT WAS MAKING MY SEAT VERY HOT. THE ITEMS INSIDE MY CONSOLE MELTED, THE HAND WASH BURNT MY HAND WHEN I TOOK IT OUT TO USE IT. NOW THE CONSOLE IS GETTING HOT ONLY AFTER 50 MILES AND SOMETIMES LESS THAN THAT. ALSO, THE CD PLAYER GETS HOT. THE CD'S OCCASIONALLY BECOME SO HOT THAT I DROP THEM WHEN THEY GET SPIT OUT BY THE PLAYER BY ITSELF. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND I AM WORRIED MY BLAZER MAY CATCH FIRE OR BLOW UP. CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. THE CONSUMER APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, AND IT TOOK LITTLE WHILE FOR THE VEHICLE TO START MOVING. NOT LONG AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2002 BLAZER, I STARTED NOTICING THAT AT RANDOM TIMES THE MOTOR WOULD START RACING WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE. IT RAN VERY LOUD FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN WOULD FINALLY SLOW DOWN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THIS WOULD ALSO HAPPEN. THE RPMS RAPIDLY INCREASE WHEN ACCELERATING, AND IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD ROARING NOISE, BUT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T GO ANY FASTER. I TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL, THAT IT WAS THE CLUTCH FAN. IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR A NEW VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE BLAZER SINCE APRIL OF 2002 AND IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS AND HAS SOMETIMES PUT ME IN VERY UNSAFE POSITIONS. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO ME TO BE MORE OF A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAN A FAN. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. IT WILL SHOW EMPTY WHEN IT HAS PLENTY OF GAS. IT HAS SHOWED LOW ON FUEL, AND THEN WHEN I STOP TO GET FUEL, IT WILL NOT TAKE ANY GAS. BUT THEN I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS RIGHT AFTER TRYING TO PUT SOME IN THE TANK. THE THIRD PROBLEM IS THE LEFT FRONT DOOR HINGE. THE PIN CONTINUOUSLY WORKS OUT OF POSITION AND IT FEELS LIKE THE DOOR IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF AND IT DOESN'T CLOSE PROPERLY AND I HAVE TO HAVE THE PIN KNOCKED BACK INTO POSITION. ALSO, AT THE TIME I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, IT HAD A CASSETTE PLAYER AND THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO INSTALL A CD PLAYER AS PART OF THE PURCHASE AGREEMENT. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD OPTIONAL CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE CD PLAYER, THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER WORKED. WHEN I ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS, THEY JUST SAID THAT THIS CD PLAYER COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL CONTOLS AND LEFT IT AT THAT. I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE INSTALLED ONE THAT COULD HAVE FUNCTIONED THE SAME AS THE FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT.

I WAS IN A WRECK LAST MONDAY NIGHT WHILE DRIVING A COMPANY VAN. THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN YOU SET IT AT A SPEED THEN GO DOWN A HILL IT WOULD GET 15-20 MILES FASTER. ANY HOW THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT DOWN AND I HIT A GUARD RAIL WITH THE FRONT OF THE VAN A FIRE STARTED IMMEDIATELY BY MY LEFT FOOT AND NONE OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UNTIL THE FIRE GOT TO THEM. THE VAN ROLLED OVER ONCE AND LANDED ON ITS WHEELS THE DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN I ROLLED DOWN THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND GOT OUT THAT WAY AND THE ABS BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP WHEN YOU HAVE TO GET ON THEM REAL HARD. STREERING OF MY TRAILER BLAZER IS VAGUE AND NOT RESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL AT HIGHER RATE OF SPEED, ESPECIALLY AROUND 65MPH. THE REAR SUSPENSION FEEL SOFT AND SLIDES WHEN MAKING QUICK MOVEMENTS LEFT OR RIGHT IN THE STREERING. THE STREERING AT LOWER SPEEDS FEELS SOFT WITH PLAY IN THE CONTROL. OTHER VEHICLES TEST DRIVEN DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. YOU CAN NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE IMMEDIATELY. ON WINDY DAYS THE CAR MOVES CONSTANTLY AND THE STREERING IS DELAYED IN CORRECTING THE PUSH. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH IT. SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT IT IN JULY IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR APPROX. 10 TIMES. THE FIRST DAY I BROUGHT IT HOME IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT ALREADY HAS A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT LOCKING UP AND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO WEAR. I HAVE BROUGT THIS PROBLEM UP TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE EVEN REPLACED ALL OF THE SEAT BELTS, BUT IT STILL PERSISTS. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS BECAUSE OF INFANT SEATS, HOWEVER HOW CAN THIS VEHICLE BE SUITED FOR FIVE PASSENGERS WHEN IN REALITY IT CAN ONLY HOLD FOUR. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THE HEATER BLOWER FAILED TO WORK. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY REPLACED IT. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE 4WD SYSTEM SWITCHING BETWEEN 2HI. THE DEALER HAS INSTALLED A NEW SWITCH AS WELL, SO THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED. ONE OF MY NEWEST CONCERNS IS RANDOMLY WHEN I START THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING THE ENGINE REVS UP REALLY LOUD. THE LOUD NOISE GETS EVEN LOUDER WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. WHEN BRINGING IN THIS PROBLEM TO THE SHOP THEY SAID THAT IT IS THE FAN CLUTCH AND THAT IT IS NORMAL. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. PEOPLE THAT HEAR THE NOISE ARE IN DISBELIEF THAT A NEW VEHICLE CAN MAKE SUCH A NOISE. I ALSO AM HAVING A CONCERN WITH SQUEAKY BREAKS IN THE FRONT END. THE SHOP STATES THAT SEMIMETALLIC BRAKES WILL MAKE SOME NOISE AT TIMES. IN ALL OF THE CARS I HAVE OWNED I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT THAT A 2002 WOULD HAVE SQUEAKY BRAKES AND THAT IT WOULD BE NORMAL AND UNABLE TO FIX. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND I QUESTION HOW RELIABLE AND SAFE WE ARE DRIVING IT. GM WILL NOT HELP ME IN REPLACING THIS VEHICLE SO I GUESS MY NEXT STEP IS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. *AK

THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THAT OUR CAR WAS NOT FULLY PAINTED, YOU CAN SEE THAT PRIMER IN LARGE AREAS ALL OVER THAT BODY OF THE CAR. SECOND PROBLEM IS THE BACK CARGO DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. THIRD PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRONIC SETS ON DRIVER AND ON PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT MOVE AND ARE STUCK IN THE SAME POSITION, ALSO SEAT WARMERS DO NOT WORK. THE FIFTH PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING FLUID.
