My turbocharger is failing. My car has 83,000 miles, but had to get a completely new engine at 37,000 miles. So the engine is less than 50,000 miles old. My check engine light has turned on and it’s is the turbo charger. General Motors has a Special Coverage Adjustment N232395330 that covers models with the same engine as the Chevy Cruze. However, because the model is not listed they are refusing coverage under this adjustment. The adjustment specifically covers the turbocharger, a component or the engine. But since my model is not listed it is not covered despite having the same engine. My turbocharger began failing while I was driving on the grapevine in California. Luckily I was able to make it to my destination but had it failed over the grapevine that would have put me and my passengers in an unsafe situation. It is unacceptable that an engine with less than 50,000 miles on it which has been maintained with frequent oil changes be having this issue yet not be covered under an SCA that acknowledges the issue just doesn’t list the model.

Check engine light say turbo charger problem code is P0299, i have googled this issue and its pretty common on this vehicle as well as prior years of chevy cruzes. There should be an investigation as to why this issue is so common.

My 2017 Chevrolet Cruze LT (VIN: [XXX] 1.4L turbo, ~85,000 miles) is inoperable due to cracked pistons, a known issue in 2016–2017 models causing misfires and power loss (TSB 18-NA-171). I seek GM goodwill assistance for repair costs (~$3,877–$10,500) and am exploring legal options, as no recall or class-action lawsuit currently exists. My 2017 Chevy Cruze engine failed with only 38,000 miles on it (Case [XXX]). After it happened, I read that this is a known problem (see link below). I hope that GM will consider a recall on this item in order to save others from this experience. When I contacted GM and Chevy about this in late August, I was hoping that GM would take full responsibility for what clearly appears to be a manufacturing defect in Cylinder 1. I was deeply disappointed that it took GM so long to respond to this request, and that the compensation was no more than the cost assistance that I was offered at the dealership originally. I will never buy a GM vehicle again, and will be sure to tell my friends and family about my dissatisfaction with owning a 2017 Chevy Cruze. At just over 70k miles the engine began running rough. Diagnostic showed cylinder 1 pressure issues from cracked piston requiring engine replacement. This vehicle has had all recommend service since owning it.

Apparently there is a TSB from GM regarding the end for updated/replacement of parts concerning the hydraulic piping, slave cylinder and accumulator. My clutch became spongy then stuck on the floor. This happened unexpectedly (reservoir full) while driving and almost caused an accident. Apparently GM doesn't take enough accountability to update the failure before or after failure. Reporting this hoping it will eventually force a recall!

Once my Chevrolet Cruze equipped with the 1.6liter diesel engine and 9T50 transmission reached 120,000 miles it stopped shifting into the 9th speed. I had Jones Chevrolet (local GM dealer) flush the transmission at their request. Apparently the transmission filter is basically impossible to replace unless pulling the transmission out and taking the transmission apart. This problem still exists and after doing some research it seems that GM knows of the problem and changed the torque converter and transmission pump in later years.

The slave cylinder failed in the manual transmission. When it failed, the petal went to the floor and did not return. In a panic I was trying to engage it, the vehicle was rolling without control of the drivetrain. I pulled into a driveway and rolled out into traffic when trying to put it in reverse and was not able to move the vehicle. Yes you can inspect it currently being repaired for $1500

The clutch pedal got stuck while driving. There is a factory defect with this vehicle's Clutch Slave Cylinder and it's a huge safety hazard since it can happen at any time on all the manual transmission models. This is a known issue that hasn't been addressed by GM

Clutch pedal does not return, cannot change gears. Chevy issued a TSB, however they do not warranty the repair. The problem is with a clogged orifice which is a engineering defect. This is a well know problem and is extremely dangerous. I assume enough people haven't died yet from this issue for a recall.

The catalytic converter on my Chevy Cruze has failed several times over the course of almost 2 (two) years and required replacement. The most recent replacement was 3/17/2025. The vehicle had diagnostics performed each time. It is my understanding that the life of a catalytic converter is 10 years or more. So being replaced several times seems excessive in such a short amount of time. The safety of myself and others were at risk because issues with a catalytic converter can lead to engine problems, which could indirectly lead to an accident or injury. I received warning messages each time and took the vehicle in for diagnostics and repair. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives.

The shutoff feature that shuts the engine? down while at a full stop/red light, is defective. I was stopped at a red-light and the engine shutdown as a gas-saver feature and stalled and I had to put my car in park and restart it in mid traffic. I was rear-ended by the person behind me, who was a hit n run. This is an unsafe feature that has been put in many Chevrolet vehicles. I called the Chevrolet # and she told me, I had to pay for the $250 diagnostic test at a Chevy dealership and I told her, Chevrolet should be responsible for the failure to restart my engine car as it is a an unsafe feature installed by them and that that they should turn off that feature for free as I was hit from behind when the vehicle did not restart. I want Chevrolet to pay to have this unsafe feature removed without charging my for an expensive diagnostic system test. I as a consumer, should have that choice! I want that flawed feature turned off in my vehicle. IT'S UNSAFE.

Car stops running unexpectedly and without warning. Just driving along and suddenly no power. Usually necessary to restart the car although occasionally it restarts on its own. Very dangerous when it happens at highway speed. Per my mechanic no codes show up for this problem. I looked up this issue online and see that plenty of other Chevy Cruze owners have had the same problem.

I was at a stop light. The cars feature that shuts off the engine when stopped at a light failed as it completely would not start again. This has happened to me a few times now. One of those times it was at a busy intersection and I was almost hit. I had to shut off the car and turn it back on again to get it to move. I spoke to someone at Chevrolet and I was told this feature can not be turned off in this model and there have been known issues. I do not know why with this being known that nothing has been recalled on the vehicle. I can not remember if lights turned on as it was extremely stressful to go through.

I BOUGHT THIS CHEVROLET CRUZE NEW IN JULY 2017. FROM NEW, AFTER YOU DRIVE THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON, THERE IS A CHEMICAL SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS. IT LASTS ABOUT 5 MINUTES BUT MAY COME BACK WITH A LONGER DRIVE. IT IS A VERY UNPLEASANT SMELL. I TOOK IT TWO DEALERS AND HAVE WORKED WITH GM. GM ADMITS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND HAVE RELEASED PIT5726 DESCRIBING THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM HAVING, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TO OFFER ME. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT INHALING THIS CHEMICAL SMELL.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while he was attempting to start the vehicle, and while attempting to turn the vehicle off, he observed that the "remote key not detected" message was displayed. The contact stated that he had gone through several replacement key fobs. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where he was sold a new key fob. The vehicle was not diagnosed and only the key fob was replaced. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to manufacturer Technical Service Bulletin Number: 16-NA-396 (Intermittent Operation of Key Fobs - Electrical System). The failure mileage was 117,000.

2017 CHEVROLET CRUZE WITH 28,751 MILES IS CONTINUALLY LOSING ALL GAUGE FUNCTIONS, AIR CONDITIONING, RADIO, TURN SIGNALS AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS ARE AFFECTED. PROBLEM ORIGINALLY SURFACED IN LATE 2017 WITH ABOUT 12,000 MILES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE NEXT DAY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTO NATION CHEVROLET AND DEALER ADVISED TO RETURN THE CAR WHEN THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED, ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED BUT I WAS NOT ADVISED OF WHAT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION AND PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR UNTIL 1/27/21 THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT UNUSED OVERNIGHT AND NEXT MORNING VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE MALFUNCTION. THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED ON 2/10/21 AND WHILE FILMING THE OCCURRENCE THE MALFUNCTION CLEARED AND VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN OPERATIONAL. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE LAST 2 INCIDENTS BUT THE PROBLEM ORIGINALLY OCCURRED VARIOUS TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. TO THIS DATE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL GAUGE AND OTHER VEHICLE FUNCTIONS. "NO REMOTE DETECTED" MESSAGE OR INTERMITTENT REMOTE FUNCTIONALITY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES NOW. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT WORKING BY PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AND THEN IT RECOGNIZES THE KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND I GET IN TO TRY AND START CAR.

Operating vehicle on German autobahn, 90mph, brake assist light came on, check engine light came on, vehicle loss turbo power, felt a shift in the transmission feeling, without notice as a slowly pulled into the gate guard at 30mph, I had zero brakes, loud metal noise and/vibration applying the brakes hard, I almost impacted the vehicle in front of me, vehicle was parked, vehicle would not start afterwards, had the brake assist light only come on when I backed out the driveway with a little noise riding the brake out the driveway but the light disappeared the same day. Vehicle was towed to the GM dealer in Pirmasens, was told that the brake booster failed, the cam, timing chain, and brake booster needs to be replaced and that my car was not under any recall yet research on the internet shows that others had te same problem with the Cruze.

I want to know if there is a recall on GM cars with standard transmissions that have the shared master cylinder. That is when the clutch master cylinder and the brake master cylinder are the same part. When the clutch release cylinder leaks, you also lose brake fluid, and when the leak is bad enough, you lose your clutch and brakes.

At only 30,682 miles my 2017 Chevrolet Cruze suffered extensive failure in the braking system. This was first indicated by a low brake fluid warning. Initially I added brake fluid but warning returned two weeks later along with noticeable travel in the brake pedal. On February 22 the dealership found leaks at all four wheel calipers and rusted and grooved scratches on rotors. The car had been serviced only at this dealership and thus far had only routine maintenance along with replacement of two O2 sensors under warranty. Having lost confidence in GM I had a second opinion to confirm and repair done elsewhere for $2,293.18.

I was going in to a turning lane and as I was about to press the brake, I see a service brake assist system and I go to press the brakes and the brakes make a clicking sound and the car would not stop forcing me to take the car off the road onto the grass to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I restarted the vehicle and the brakes began working fine.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the brake pedal had to forcefully be depressed with both feet to slow the vehicle down while coming to a stop. The contact stated that the brake assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake assist vacuum pump to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the failure a second time. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The repair was pending. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact observed a 1-inch crack in the third brake light. The contact stated that there was condensation leaking into the interior of the vehicle near the pillar loop of the seat belt, onto the floor near the retractor of the rear passenger’s seat belt. Additionally, the contact observed condensation in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

OPENED TRUNK TODAY AFTER CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING UNCOVERED IN A NORMAL RAIN (NOT HEAVY OR SEVERE WEATHER) AND WATER WAS IN TRUNK AROUND THE BOTTOM GASKET SEAL AND DIP WHERE THE TRUNK LATCH IS. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE WATER HAS LEAKED INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUNK WHERE THE SPARE TIRE AND BATTERY IS AND THE TRUNK LINER IS SOAKED AT THE BOTTOM WHERE IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE SEAL WHEN CLOSED. UNSURE AS TO WHERE THE LEAK IS HAPPENING AS NOTHING ELSE FEELS WET AROUND THE SEALS.

MY 2017 CHEVROLET CRUZE DISPLAYED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONE DAY AFTER DRIVING TO THE GYM FROM MY HOME (ABOUT 7 MILES) AND SITTING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND HALF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS SOLID AND I DROVE HOME WITHOUT NOTICING ANYTHING ODD WITH THE CAR. FIGURING IT WAS A NON-ISSUE I LET THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND WENT BACK OUT AND TURNED THE CAR ON TO SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I THEN GOT AN EMAIL FROM ONSTAR SAYING THAT MY CAR HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM OR BATTERY. FINDING THAT CONCERNING I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY MAJOR CODES AND RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. CALLING THE DEALERSHIP BACK I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED BY A TECHNICIAN. WHEN I SHOWED UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD I SHOULD UNPLUG ANY CELL PHONE CHARGERS AS THAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE ISSUE. THEY RESET THE CEL AND I LEFT ONLY TO HAVE THE LIGHT POP BACK ON AGAIN WITHIN 10 MINUTES. I THEN TOOK THE CAR BACK THAT DAY TO HAVE A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION. THEY ENDED UP FINDING RUST IN THE TRUNK PAN. RUST IN THE BOTTOM OF A 2017 VEHICLE. SOUNDS LIKE A PRETTY BIG DEFECT TO ME. I WAS TOLD IF I WANTED GM TO TRY AND FIX THE VEHICLE IT WOULD RESULT IN DIMINISHED VALUE FOR MY CAR. UP TO THIS POINT, THERE WAS NO OTHER INDICATION OF ANYTHING LEAKING OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THESE CARS LEAKING IN THE TRUNK AREA. TIME FOR GM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

Slave cylinder failure. At approximately 125,000 miles, the slave cylinder began to fail. Clutch pedal would only come back up about half way, and would need to be pulled the rest of the way up. Associated problem is difficulty putting car into gear. Took vehicle to dealership for other warranty work and asked to investigate. Dealership ignored request. Took back separate time for other faulty parts and was ignored again. Other part failure was turbo waste gate. Internal spring failure caused turbo waste gate to become stuck open, not allowing boost to build. Caused check engine light and severe lack of power. Replaced part with aftermarket, and problem disappeared. Investigation into cause revealed low quality spring that broke internally. Dealership visits within extended warranty period were ignored/ told could not replicate issue, despite suggestions of potential causes, including waste gate failure.

Car very suddenly started having slow acceleration, and vibration felt during acceleration. Check engine light on with StabiliTrak warning message on dashboard. Rough idle and vibration felt in cabin. Difficulty accelerating at traffic light and car seemed to almost stall at one point. Diagnosed at the dealer with cracked pistons in engine with code P0300 for random misfire. 2017 Chevy Cruz has passed the power train warranty by 1 year. Mileage odometer reading is about 58200. GM is not willing to replace without charging $4700 for replacing the faulty piston components in the engine even though this poses safety hazard for regular driving. After some research, this seems to be a widely known problem of this generation Chevy Cruz and GM has even changed the part number of the piston assembly to replace the faulty pistons in engine. This needs to be a recall!

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION AT ANY SPEED... WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS"THROTTLE ALL THE WAY DOWN" VEHICLE HAS A BRIEF INTERRUPTION OF ACCELERATION AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REPORTING CODE P0325. ENGINE KNOCKS/SHAKES AND LOSE ACCELERATION AND REDUCED POWER FOR OVER 50+ MILES AFTER EACH INCIDENT. I HAVE HAD THE ENGINE REPAIRED TWICE AND REBUILT. ECM HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED AND GM FLEW A ENGINEER TO TROUBLESHOOT I AM AGAIN HAVING PROBLEMS 10K MILES MORE AND THIS IS ONGOING AND DANGEROUS. PLEASE PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AS GM HAS NOT TAKEN OWNERSHIP OF THIS DEFECT. During rain or carwash, water leaks into rear passenger cabin along ceiling. Suspect coming from cracked rear third brake light which is a known Cruze issue that may also cause battery issues. My third brake light has two cracks (one on each side).

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. While refueling, the contact discovered that cracks had formed on both sides of the middle brake light housing. She then noticed that water from the cracks had leaked into the top rear headliner of the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where they confirmed the failure and provided her an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle has been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. Consumer paid $312.82 for the repairs.

Third rear brake light on my Chevy Cruze hatchback broke off from its mount, and is now dangling against the rear window glass, obstructing the view, obstructing the rear windshield wiper from being able to operate, and held on by nothing but the wiring. It is at risk of falling off into the road, makes the car less visible to drivers while braking, and obscures my view out of the back window, especially when it is raining, as I can no longer use the wiper. It is unable to be reattached without replacing the entire rear spoiler (approximately $1,000 repair according to multiple dealerships I have contacted, with photographs), and it is a manufacturer defect, not caused by outside force. It appears the bolts that hold the spoiler in were over-torqued at the factory, causing excess stress on the plastic holes they mount into, as the plastic surrounding both mounting holes cracked.

We believe the auto stop is malfunctioning. When stopping at a light the car will go into auto stop and then die. It won't restart without getting out of the car, alarming and locking it, then unlock and get back in. This is our second 2017 cruze hatchback, both purchased brand new. The first one was doing the same thing less than 2 months after we bought it. Dealership couldn't figure it out, we caused enough of a scene for them to put us in another brand new one. Obviously, a car randomly dying on the road is a safety issue. We did have our first one checked out by the dealership, Autonation Chevrolet Gulf Freeway in Houston, and they couldn't find anything wrong and couldn't recreate the issue, which is why they got us in a second one. This one didn't start doing this until a couple months ago, at at 8 years old. No warranty, and we haven't had it checked out by anyone yet. It's worth mentioning that we also had this issue with our 2017 Traverse, 3 years in. Same dealership, couldn't recreate the issue, we ended up trading it in. No lights or warning lamps of any kind appeared.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal banging sound. The contact then noticed through the rearview mirror, that the rear bumper had detached and was hanging on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that an unknown control module had detached along with the bumper. The contact stated that only one rear bumper screw remained attached while the others were missing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer parts department and was provided the screws to temporarily re-attach the bumper. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that a faulty High Mount Stop Lamp gasket allowed water to leak into the trunk and fill the rear compartment battery tub, resulting in water damage to the Multifunction Power Supply Converter, Fuel Pump Power Control Module, and Fuse Block. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program 16147, but the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The vehicle has been struggling off and on to accelerate from a stopped position or a need to suddenly increase in speed (merging onto an expressway). I have replaced several parts of the car, there are no codes available to the technicians but it is reported in several forums and a common issue. I have almost been t-boned making a left turn onto major roads where there are cars going 55-70 or above mph because the car suddenly stops working even when pressing the acceleration pedal all the way to the floor.

My Chevy Cruze LT Hatchback has an acceleration issue. I’ve read blogs where people complain of the same problem. There is a delay from the time you press the acceleration peddle to when the vehicle actually responds. This is dangerous because in the time it takes for the car to respond to the acceleration, oncoming traffic could collide with me causing an accident. I’ve had more than a few ‘near misses’ because of this issues. Something needs to be done about this before someone gets killed over it.

FIRST THE CAR SHAKED WHILE WE WERE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. THEN WE WENT TO DRIVE INTO A TUNNEL AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, WE HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL TO KEEP MOVING. THEN THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE CAR SAID SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, I HAD TO STEP VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. ONCE WE STOPPED AGAIN THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT HAD DIED. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BY STEPPING FULLY ON THE PEDAL AND NOTHING. THEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO TURN OFF THE CAR BUT THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE 3RD TIME OF TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF THAT THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY TURNED OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND AT FIRST NOTHING HAPPENED, BUT THEN THE CAR STARTED TO WORK AGAIN. I should have filed a complaint here after the catastrophic failure. The next time I may not be so lucky and it could cause loss of life. I was driving at approx. 65 MPH on the frwy when bang! An explosion under my hood that caused my car to jump over a lane, I slammed on the breaks, swerved but couldn't push the brake pedal down anymore. It felt hard and would barely move. i had no way to slowdown or stop! And traffic infront of me was slowing fast. I put all my weight on that pedal even tried pumping it, but it would only move alittle. Luckily the car in front sped up just enough for me to swerve onto the shoulder. As I slowed i could depress pedal alittle if I stood up on it out of my seat but stopping distance was like 15ft while maybe going 15 mph. This all happened in a matter of minutes i still dont know how I was able to avoid an accident. The engine sounded really rough. So I called the dealership they said to bring the car in. I had already spoke. With them that week due to traction control system and transmission causing instability and brake issues. I was mortified when I found out what happened I had cracked 2 pistons & the force was so strong it blew thru the membrane that seperates the break system, got oil in my break lines! This is a new car! Dealership said it was a known issue & GM determinedtitle was a design flaw. I had 2 pistons replaced and my break system flushed my car has never been the same. There's always something little and intermitten still with the transmission & Now the engine jumps while idling and stopped in drive it jumps so hard the car jumps fwd, feels like ill hit whats in front of me. I lost significant value at only 26,290 miles, i cant afford to trade it in on disability, covid turned into long haul covid, no affordable extended warranty. I have no piece of mind in a car I dont feel safe in. What happens when the pistons fail they didnt fix. How many injuries or lives must be sacrificed before they do something.

Cylinder 1 experienced cracking due to Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI, commonly referred to as “Knock”) just after exiting the highway in a 70 mph zone and produced a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) code of P0301. As evidenced in Attachment 1, this caused damage to the Antilock Braking System due to loss of vacuum on the system and possible fouling due to foreign object damage to the vehicle ABS. Later assessment by trained mechanics determined the root cause was due to insufficient structural capability of engine pistons to withstand brief periods of LSPI. As evidenced by attachment 18-NA-171 and PIP5490, the vehicle manufacturer (General Motors) is aware of the insufficient design of the pistons, has re-designed them to withstand LSPI, however has not made an effort to notify me or replace the existing part to prevent damage to the vehicle powertrain and ABS. While this particular instance of piston cracking due to LSPI has only had a financial impact on myself, loss of ABS functionality and potential engine seizure at highway speeds have the potential to produce dangerous, if not fatal, conditions to other drivers with similar hardware.

I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT A LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP (SUBURBAN CHEVROLET IN ANN ARBOR, MI), WHERE MY TIRES WERE ROTATED, OIL CHANGED, AND A RECALL FIXED. AS I LEFT THE DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT DAY I FELT MY CAR PULLING SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN TO WORK AND THE PULLING CONTINUED, WITH MY STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY WOBBLING. I LEFT WORK FOR AN APPOINTMENT A FEW HOURS LATER AND AS I WAS DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING MORE VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE EXIT, WHICH WAS LUCKILY THE ONE FOR MY FATHER'S WORK. I DROVE TO HIS PLACE OF EMPLOYEMENT WHERE HE CAME OUT TO CHECK TO SEE IF MY WHEELS/TIRES WERE OK. HE FOUND THAT ALL LUG NUTS ON ALL FOUR TIRES HADN'T BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED AND WERE ONLY "FINGER TIGHTENED." ONCE HE WAS SURE TO PROPERLY TIGHTEN ALL LUG NUTS I LEFT AND RETURNED TO THE HIGHWAY TO GET TO MY APPOINTMENT. My 2017 Chevy Cruze had the throttle body replaced by STG Auto Group in Montclair, CA. A few months after the repair, my car began shaking violently and then shut off in the middle of the street while I was driving on 11/17/2025 This created a serious safety hazard for me and other drivers. When I took the vehicle to a local auto zone once the vehicle turned on , they told me the throttle body “needs cleaning,” but a new throttle body should not get dirty within a few months. This suggests improper installation or a defective part. The problem returned even though the part was recently replaced. I immediately called the dealership who fixed it and the manager stated I’d have to wait to the following week for another inspection and that I can not be squeezed in . The vehicle is still unsafe to drive because it shakes and can stall unexpectedly. I am concerned because this issue has happened more than once and could have caused an accident. The 3rd brake light is known to leak on Chevy cars, which I found out when searching up the issues, which allows water inside trunk without your knowledge and does water damage to the battery and other electrical components that are located in the trunk that controls the dashboard, a/c, radio, power steering and probably even more. Safety risk: makes your dashboard stop working along with the power steering, while driving. There is another vehicle at the same dealer as mine right now with water in the trunk, it’s an impala. When you search up on the internet about dashboard not working along with radio and a/c there are quite a few different people pointing to the leaking 3rd brake light and water in the trunk damaging the electrical components in the trunk. The vehicle is at a Chevrolet dealer right now being fixed. No warning messages before it happened. I have only owned the car for 1 year bought it used June 2024. The bill I included is so far what they are saying needs to be fixed but I’m sure more to come as they get some components working.

The Cruze has always been slow to accelerate which made passing a problem. In May 2025 we were driving on [XXX] in Detroit and the engine light came on the dashboard. We were able to drive the car without propulsion to Lansing, a distance of 90 miles. Feldman Chevorolet said the code for the light was engine turbo-charger. That's a $3K repair. Several times during ownership (Bought used in 2021 with 13,000 miles at purchase, currently 35,000 miles on car. Entire instrument cluster including center screen and center console shifter selector goes completely dark. This includes both speedometer indicators. No apparent cause, no advance warning, screen(s) just "black out". After some time...30-40 seconds to as long as 2-3 minutes all console and instruments lights come back on. Happens during daytime and nighttime usage, with heater and/or air conditioning in use.

Car spontaneously stops accelerating. Sometimes a restart is needed. It jerks as you're trying to gain acceleration. Sometimes it stalls after non acceleration. Safety is compromised due to traffic behind me going speed limit or worse. First appeared 2 months ago. Mechanic could not detect anything on diagnostics. Then we took it to the Chevy dealer where purchased and after 5 days could not diagnose. They took it out 3x but could not duplicate symptoms. No lights flash, no warnings. I'm at a loss, I'm a senior citizen who needs her vehicle. I no longer feel safe driving it. Please advise.

The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated to 30-35 MPH. Additionally, the vehicle made abnormal rattling sounds and failed to exceed 30-35 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the knock sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred two months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the knock sensors and the engine were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Zimbrick Chevrolet Service (1877 W Main St #200, Sun Prairie, WI 53590), where the knock sensors and the knock sensors terminal were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Engine Control Module (ECM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Based off my mechanic's assessment and that of a Chevrolet dealership, one of the cylinders in my Chevy Cruze is no longer firing. The dealership believes at least one of the pistons needs to be replaced. The car is available for inspection. The car is unreliable to drive, as I drove up a freeway incline it slowed to a dangerously low speed for freeway driving. The dealership has confirmed they believe it is an issue with the piston but will not confirm without charging $2800 to dismantle the car and are not able to guarantee they will be able to fix the issue. Diagnostics were run on the car at Putnam Chevrolet in Burlingame CA. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to a major issue with the cars functionality. The issue first appeared June 15, 2023 without any warning. The engine light came on and the car was not functioning properly, plus a notification to "service Stabilitrek". I have found mention of the same problem on consumer forums. Cracked pistons are a KNOWN issue on this make and model but there are no recalls and the car is just outside of the warranty.

Douglas all seasons is usually sold in Walmart is a good brand but there's some times that are just goes out of it completely when it hits a tire or nail and can cause a major accident and doing the time whenever the potholes you can barely feel if your tire has air in it and another thing is very hard to get that tire off of your vehicle and you have to be to have a special tool or something like that in order to take that tire off and it don't always erupt with a regular air pump outside and you have to try to rush to a detour somewhere to get are so I kind of feel like it's an inconvenience having that type of tire or vehicle I usually purchase for room they run between the amount of $55 all the way up to 65 what tire rotation I think the warranty is up to like 3 months the warranty is up to 3 months or a year depending on how much you spend

I purchase this car in 2017 apprentices 2017 Cruze at the time it only have four thousand miles it has 80,000 MI it was a fuel injector pump replaced next to the engine at everybody there knew that the car was defective due to the fact that they have several men that don't know what they're doing and working on these cars are unprofessional workers and everybody here knows that they keep repairing cars and they need to send them back to the manufacturer for DFCS and numerous problems they said everybody here got nothing but junk cars and they need help to replace them immediately in this car the cruise and the Malibu the odometer kept sticking and going bad and they did replace it once and then they replaced it again and they left the park open in the vehicle you always have to get so many oil changes with this and then the one-time the Auto stop feature had got stuck on a train track and it was very hard to get that car off we had got frightened and had jumped off the car over here in Milwaukee off of 2nd street or 1st Street we're trying to report whatever we can so I can get a replacement vehicle or sometimes the rear camera was defective to it didn't always come on right away

I purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze RS Premier hatchback from Mastria Kia in Raynham, MA in January 2023 and it was missing the rear seat headrests (they were neither installed in their OEM position or in the car upon delivery). I would like to know if this is a violation of NHTSA regulations. To date, they have been unwilling to provide the proper headrests as installed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. Thank you.

I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS ON ONE IS OF ALL THE LEAVES THAT ARE ON THE STREETS IN THE MONTHS FROM SEPTEMBER ON THE WAY TO DECEMBER AND WE CONFIRM THE LEAVES GATE WHERE THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF SOLUTIONS FOR HIM AND THEY ARE LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREETS FOR PEOPLE TO SWIPE INTO A POLE SOMETIMES LOSE LOSE IT ALL OVER AND THEN CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENT ON ANYTHING THAT THERE IS ALSO A SENSIBLE DELAYS IN A BAG OR IN A BOX SO IF YOU WANNA END IT BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY LEAVES THEY GET INTO TOWN USE ANY BECOME VERY SICK AND HOME AND FOR YOU TO CONTROL OR STEEL WHEELS WHEN YOURE DRIVING ANOTHER THING IS WHEN YOURE TRYING TO GET ACROSS MAJOR INTERSECTIONS YOURSELF 15 IN OAK CREEK AND ALSO ON BLUEMOUND ROAD IN BROOKFIELD SHOWING PEDESTRIAN CAN GET INJURED BECAUSE ITS VERY HOW DO YOU TRAFFIC THAT COMES THROUGH THERE IN YOUR EXIT IN THE HIGHWAY AND I REFUSE TO BE ANY NEED TO MOVE THE EXIT UP FROM WHERE MULTIPLE PEDESTRIAN I CANT CROSS IN GOING TO THE MALL AND THE COST TO GO OVER TO THE HOTELS ALSO I NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WORST OF THE SHOVEL .ITS HARD FOR PEDESTRIANS AS WELL AS BUS DRIVERS TO GET ACROSS THE STREET BECAUSE THERES SUCH A PERFECT AND I DONT WANT TO SLOW DOWN AND I DONT WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY GET INTO THE PLACE IS SAFE WERE ASKING TO BE PUT UP SIGNAGE IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS IN THE 20150 W. BLUEMOUND INN ON 63RD AND 60 S. LOOTING PUTTING A MAJOR SONGS FOR DRIVERS TO SLOW DOWN THIS WEEK OR IF THEY CAN MOVE THE EXIT SO THEY DONT ENTER OTHER PEDESTRIANS THANK YOU ALSO SO BUS DRIVERS CAN CHANGE LANES WITHOUT WHATEVER HAPPENED TO RUSSELL RID OF HICCUPS PEDESTRIANS BECAUSE ITS VERY HARD FOR CITY PUBLIC TRANSIT TO GET THROUGH OTHER LANES WHILE DRIVING YES AND IT ALSO LEADS TO MAJOR CRASHES WITH CITIZENS BEING IN A HURRY AND THEY NEED TO MAKE A HUGE INSURANCE CROSS AT THE CROSS LIGHT AND THAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREETS AND THEY ALSO NEED WALKING SIGNS WITH NOISE SO THEY CAN HEAR AND SEE CITIZENS WHO ARE GOING TO GRAB THE STREETS BECAUSEL OF THE DOWNSTAIRS

THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE 2016+ CHEVY CRUZE MODELS WHERE THE TOP MOUNTED BRAKE LIGHT CRACKS AND WATER LEAKS INTO THE TRUNK UNDER THE SPARE TIRE AND INTO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. THE WATER ALSO COMES INTO CONTACT WITH OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THAT ARE BETWEEN THE REAR SEAT AND REAR QUARTER PANEL. THIS CAUSES A MUSTY/MILDEW SMELL IN THE VEHICLE AND CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND ISSUES DUE TO THE COMPONENTS THAT ARE IN THE AFFECTED AREA. AS STATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHER VINS THAT WERE AFFECTED INCLUDING MINE THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

VEHICLE HAS HAD A MISFIRE THAT ONLY THREW A SINGLE GENERIC MISFIRE CODE FOR CYLINDER 3. JERKS OCCASIONALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT STOP LIGHTS OR SIGNS. RECENTLY WENT TO TURN AROUND AFTER MISSING A TURN, SHIFTED IT INTO REVERSE AFTER STOPPING IN A RANDOM DRIVEWAY OFF A CITY ROAD, SLOWLY BEGAN TO BACK UP AND IT MOVED ABOUT AN INCH BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP, A/C SHUT OFF, CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD ONLY ROLL FORWARD, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH GAS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION GOING APPROX 35 MPH UPHILL ON RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN IT STARTED VIBRATING AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER INTO GAS STATION AND SHUT CAR OFF. SAT FOR 2 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT REMAINED ON WITH SOME VIBRATION. MERGED ONTO HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO REACH THE SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH. CRUZE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH. SERVICE BREAKS LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN GOT AN ALERT STATING THAT POWER STEERING HAD FAILED. CAR BASICALLY SHUT ITSELF DOWN AND I HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT TO FULLY TURN OFF. STEAM/SMOKE THEN BEGAN COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND LIQUID FROM THE CAR WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD. TOWED TO CHEVY DEALER WHERE THEY DISCOVERED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. CAR HAD 27K MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS ORDEAL.

THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACK LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THE CAR WAS SHAKING. MY WARRANTY TEAM OUT AT 63000 MILES, AND I WAS ONLY AT 93000. I HAD TO HAVE THE INJECTOR REPLACED AND THEY SAID I ALSO HAVE TO REPLACED THE VALVE SPRING COVER. THE MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHEVY CRUZE AND THAT GM KNOWS OF THE ISSUE, BUT REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. IN JUST MY AREA, ONE DEALERSHIP HAS SOLD 300 INJECTORS AND VALVE SPRING COVERS RECENTLY. I DO NOT HAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT GM IS AWARE OF. THERE IS NO REASON I AM HAVING TO FISH OR THIS MUCH MONEY AND MY CAR ISN'T EVEN OVER 100,000 MILES AND IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH GM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CHECKED. ALL THREE DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AT 45 MPH, THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ONCE HE STOPPED THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING FUNCTION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. BOUGHT MY CAR IN SEPTEMBER AND IT WAS RUNNING FINE. I LIVE IN ARIZONA AND NOW THAT IT'S JULY IT'S VERY HOT OUTSIDE. I NOTICED ABOUT A MONTH AGO MY CAR STARTED STALLING FOR A MOMENT WHEN I WOULD TRY TO ACCELERATE ON THE FREEWAY. AND NOW IT HAS RANDOMLY STARTED STALLING WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND TRY TO TURN IT BACK ON (USUALLY TAKES A COUPLE TIMES). THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT EVER COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I LIVE ABOUT 33 MILES AWAY FROM MY WORK SO I DRIVE QUITE A BIT AND IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING LOSS OF POWER STEERING UPON VEHICLE STARTUP, WHICH HAS AT TIMES PERSISTED INTO THE BEGINNING OF MY DRIVE. A STABILITRAK WARNING IS DISPLAYED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THERE IS A DEFINITE PHYSICAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING THAT RECOVERS WITHIN A MINUTE. THIS MESSAGE AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING SEEMS TO OCCUR DURING COLD AND WET/RAINY CONDITIONS WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE ESTIMATED BELOW 40 F. THE WHOLE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED UNDER WARANTY IN Q1 2018, BUT DID NOT FIX THE ROOT CAUSE. AT THAT TIME, THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO LOCATE DIAGNOSTIC CODES, BUT IN TWO SUBSEQUENT VISITS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, THE DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE. IT IS PONDEROUS THAT THE DEALER HAS INSISTED THAT A STABILITRAK MESSAGE WARNING OF LOSS OF POWER STEERING DOES NOT REGISTER IN ANY OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS. HOW CAN THIS BE TRUE?

ALMOST 6 MONTHS TO THE DAY OF PURCHASE, I WAS PLANNING A TRIP THAT REQUIRED 3.5 HOURS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE DAY BEFORE MY TRIP, I HAD AN UNFAMILIAR ALERT, SO I TOOK IT TO AUTONATION UNDER WARRANTY. THEY FOUND THE CAR HAD BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHERE THE FRONT END HAD BEEN "STRAIGHTENED" AND ADVISED ME NOT TO RISK DRIVING IT ON THE TRIP. A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHERE THE FRONT END HAD TO BE STRAIGHTENED WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME. AUTONATION TOLD ME TO GO TO OFFLEASEONLY, BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED BY REPAIRS NOT BEING DONE BY A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. AUTONATION SHOWED ME, WHILE ON THE LIFT, THE EVIDENCE. I CONTACTED OFFLEASE AND THEY DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I SENT PHOTOS AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP AND SAID I SHOULD CONTACT CHEVY CORPORATE OFFICES AND FIGHT FOR THE WARRANTY. I RETURNED TO AUTONATION AND PAID A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF $175.73 AND GOT SPECIFICS ON COSTS WHICH I SHARED WITH OFFLEASE--$2500 FOR MECHANICAL REPAIRS AND STRUCTURAL REPAIRS WOULD START AT $1500 WITH NO GUARANTEE THE FRONT END WOULD BE AS SAFE AND THAT CORRECTING THE SHODDY WORK ON THE FRAME COULD DEGRADE ITS STRUCTURE AND STABILITY. AUTONATION SAID THAT THEY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR SELLING CARS LIKE THIS. OFFLEASE REPRESENTATIVES DECLINED TO WORK WITH ME. I PROVIDED WITH THE RECOMMENDATION BY AUTONATION THAT OFFLEASE SHOULD CLAIM A LOSS THROUGH THEIR INSURANCE AND REPLACE MY CAR. OFFLEASE DECLINED AND REFERRED ME TO PEPBOYS FOR REPAIR, BUT WHEN ASKED THE ESTIMATED COST, THEY NEVER RESPONDED. I ONLY DRIVE IN TOWN. I HAVE HAD TO RENT/BORROW A CAR FOR TRAVEL TO EXTENDED DISTANCES TO AVOID THE FEAR. OFFLEASE CLAIMS TO INSPECT VEHICLES WELL & CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS; BUT THEY HAVE SHOWN NO INTEREST IN MY SAFETY.
