Paint is peeling from ALL parts of the exterior vehicle, even around the window frames and door frames! It appears that NO PAINT PRIMER was used, at all! My white van has missing paint from about 75% of the vehicle, with bubbling going on, in the remainder of paint that has yet to fall off! Looking at ANY Chevy van that is on the roadways, one can easily see that the paint has also been falling off those vehicles, as well! This is a well-known defect in the painting practices of most ALL Chevrolet Vans, and should be dealt with on a class-action basis, since all Chevrolet Van owners are forced to live with an inferior paint scheme on these vehicles! But new owners are not aware of these shortcomings, until they see the paint fall off their vans, for no apparent reason! And it is clearly seen that NO PAINT PRIMER was used, when you look at the paint chip that fell off! Shame on Chevrolet and shame on the NHTSA agency for allowing any auto manufacturer to put out such inferior products to unsuspecting consumers!

VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR INSPECTION AND FAILED DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER RUSTING OUT. IT IS 7 YEARS OLD BUT HAS LOW MILEAGE. I DO NOT FEEL THAT FAILURE OF THE FRAME SHOULD HAPPEN I WAS TOLD THAT THIS FAILURE DUE TO RUST IS COMMON ON THESE VANS AND THEY MAKE A REPLACEMENT CROSS MEMBER THAT BOLTS RIGHT IN BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE ABS SENSORS DUE TO CORROSION AND NOW THIS, BOTH ARE SAFETY PARTS AND FAILED BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IN NORTHERN STATES. *JB

PASSENGER SIDE DOUBLE DOOR HINGES GOT SO TIGHT THAT THEY SNAPPED THE HINGE. NO LUBE WOULD LOOSEN PRIOR TO BREAKING. THIS WEEK THE RIGHT DOOR EXACT SAME THING. HINGE SNAPPED. THE ORIGINAL HINGES ARE DEFECTIVE AND ARE UNABLE TO BE LUBED. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM BECAUSE THE NEW ONES ARE MADE WITH GREASE FITTINGS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 1500. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 25 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THEY WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED THROUGH A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL DRIVING OVER A CURVE AND COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ONE OF THE HOSES OF THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THERE WERE TWO HOSES THAT WERE RUNNING TOGETHER ABNORMALLY AND THE FRICTION CAUSED THE HOSE TO COLLAPSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

OUR 2005 CHEVY EXPRESS 1 TON PASSENGER VAN BRAKES BY ITS SELF. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE JULY 2009. WE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED YAW SENSOR IT DID NOT STOP THE BRAKING. WE TOOK IT TO WHITE'S CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN CASPER WY AND THEY REPLACED F- MODULE IT DID NOTHING TO CHANGE THE PROBLEM. THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE WOULD BRAKE AND THE THE TRACTION SYSTEM WILL KICK IN. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT. THE PERSON WE WERE DEALING WITH, BRIAN PARKS, CALLED AT ONE POINT AND SAID WE HAD A GHOST IN THE VAN. THEY HAD THE VAN FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AND SAID THE TIRES WERE SLIGHTLY UNEVEN AND THAT MIGHT BE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE BY THEMSELVES. THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD NO LONGER WORK ON IT AND TO COME AND GET IT. WE PICKED IT UP AND NOW THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE ENGAGES BY ITSELF SO HARD AT TIMES IT PULLS THE VAN TO THE LEFT. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED. THE VAN IS NOT SAFE ON ICEY ROADS OR DRY FOR THAT MATTER. WHEN THE BRAKE STARTS ENGAGING THE TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON AND THE BRAKE WILL NO LONGER ENGAGE.

UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE HOSES. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUBBING TOGETHER, WHICH CAUSED THE HOSE TO RUPTURE. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER WAS TRAPPED IN THE SEAT BELT FOR THIRTY MINUTES. SHE HAD TO REMOVE A SCREW FROM THE SEAT IN ORDER TO LIFT THE SEAT BELT OVER HER HEAD. CURRENTLY, THE RELEASE BUTTON FOR THE BUCKLE HAS STILL NOT RELEASED. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A SPECIALIST, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIR; HOWEVER, THERE WAS A PRIOR RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE THAT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED. I DRIVE A 2005 3500 CHEVY EXPRESS VAN THAT HAS A DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR THAT MOVES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THEY ORDERED AND REPLACED THE MIRROR. AFTER PICKING UP THE VAN I NOTICED IT WAS NO DIFFERENT. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE VEHICLES COMING UP BESIDE ME. I WOULD LIKE HELP IN GETTING THE PROBLEM SOLVED. *JB

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE FIELD OF VISION PROVIDED BY THE MIRRORS ON MY VAN. I HAVE OWNED THREE FULL SIZED VANS SINCE 1995, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. MY CONCERN IS WITH THE STYLE AND SIZE OF THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS. MOST FULL SIZE VAN MANUFACTURERS HAVE HORIZONTAL MIRRORS, BUT CHEVY OPTED FOR A VERTICAL THAT HAS CUT DOWN ON THE PERIPHERAL VISION FIELD OF THE DRIVER. THIS CONCERNS ME GREATLY AS I PERCEIVE IT TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A FREEWAY, AND KEEPING ABREAST OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC FROM THE REAR OF THE VAN. THE REDUCED PERIPHERAL VISION HAS CAUSED A NUMBER OF NEAR MISS COLLISIONS. I HAVE HAD THE VAN SINCE AUGUST 2005, AND HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS MIRROR CONFIGURATIONS TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION TO NO AVAIL. THE MIRRORS AS DESIGNED DO NOT PROVIDE THE PERIPHERAL VISION THAT I HAD WITH MY 2000 DODGE VAN THAT HAD HORIZONTAL MIRRORS. I HAVE EVEN TRIED THE SUGGESTED MIRROR ADJUSTMENT TECHNIQUES ON MYGMLINK.COM TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS TO THE MANUFACTURE, BUT THEY CONTINUE TO REFER ME TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVEN WHEN I'VE ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN ENGINEERING OR DESIGN.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Express. The contact stated that while driving, the front passenger’s side tire started to wobble. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the tie rod needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving, the headlights failed to operate without engaging the lever. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the bulbs were replaced; however, the high-beam headlights failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Hole warn in front passenger side brake line from battery cable going to engine starter motor. The shielding on electrical cable rubbed and wore a hole in the brake line causing fluid to flow out and caused brakes to fail. No one was injured and no accident. I was backing out of the driveway the brakes failed, next I saw a large puddle of fluid on driveway, I just put it in park. The battery cable crosses over the break line and both are fastened to the frame near each other. I can provide break line and photo. The van has 60,000 miles on it, I purchased it new in 2005.

BOTH REAR TIRES VEERUBBER TAIGA H/T SIZE LT 245/75R16 DOT # 6MSG-CH HAD BECOME UNSERVICEABLE DUE THE INSIDE SIDE WALL BELT PLYS SEPARATING RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED ON 5 MAR 2021 WITH NEW COPPER STFR SOLARUS LT245/75R16 THROUGH MAVIS TIRE WHICH HAD INSTALLED THE TAIGA TIRES MENTIONED ABOVE ON 21 MAY 2020. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THESE TIES SINCE THEY ONLY APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY HAD A SERVICE LIFE OF 45000 MILES. THIS ISSUE CAME TO LIGHT WHEN WE WERE OPERATING OUR VAN ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR.

SERVICED VEHICLE DUE TO *CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. RAN ROUGH, SKIPPED MISFIRING. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR BILL WE RECEIVED FROM EMERSON AUTO DEALERS. IT APPEARS THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM HAD CORROSION THROUGHOUT THE FUEL SYSTEM AND A HOLE ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK! ALL OF THE FUEL LINES AND INJECTORS AND TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY HIGH RISK OF FIRE HAZARD. CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT OUR VIN # HAD NO RECALLS REGARDING ISSUES, ONLY SOME HAD MET THE CRITERIA FOR THAT YEAR?! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EXPRESS CARGO VAN. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 50 TO 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED. THE SECURITY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURES WERE CAUSED BY THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM. 2005 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 3500. PARKING BRAKE CABLE ON REAR, DRIVERS SIDE, RUBBING AGAINST SIDE OF TIRE. TIRE RUBS DOWN UNTIL IT BREAKS. TIRE WAS TOTALLY SHREDDED BUT I WAS ABLE TO SLOW AND STEER TO SIDE OF ROAD. NEW TIRE PUT ON BUT THEY DID NOT SEE THE CABLE IN THE WAY OR RUBBING! I ONLY SAW IT BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING UNDER THE CAR FOR A NEW METALLIC CLANKING NOISE (THAT IS SOMETHING ELSE). MY NEW TIRE WAS ALMOST RUBBED THROUGH AFTER ONLY 3 WEEKS. I PULLED THE CABLE WAY BACK INTO ITS RETAINER BUT THE RETAINER IS ABOUT 1.5 SQUARE INCHES AND THE CABLE IS ONLY 1/8 IN SO IS NOT FIRMLY HELD IN PLACE (ONLY BY SOME FRICTION). WORST CASE SENERIO WOULD BE THE LOSS OF STEERING CAPABILITY WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY AND/OR FATALITY. MANUFACTURE HAS DOWN PLAYED THIS SAFETY ISSUE WHEREAS MY PHOTOGRAPH AND DOCUMENTATION OF AN ENGINEERING / MANUFACTURING DEFECT WOULD SERIOUSLY CONTRADICT ANY EXPLANATION OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURE, WHICH TO INCLUDE THE MERE MANUFACTURES "GENERAL MOTORS" SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT - STEERING IDLER ARM, RE:DOCUMENT ID#1976266. WHICH I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PRESENTED FOR A NEWYORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 3500. THE VEHICLE HAS A WOOD FLOOR THAT SHRINKS AND ALLOWS CARBON MONOXIDE TO PENETRATE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT BECOMES NAUSEOUS WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE MANUFACTURER'S RESPONSIBILITY; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE ANOTHER COMPANY DESIGNED THE VEHICLE. SUBJECT VEHICLE IS A 2005 CHEVY EXPRESS/EXPLORER CONVERSION VAN. THE PASSENGER SIDE SHOCK TOWER STEEL ARM COMPLETELY SEPARATED AT THE WELDED POINT. I DROVE VEHICLE TO CLOSEST DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE TOOK A HIT AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, AND THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. WAS TOLD THAT AUTO INSURANCE MIGHT COVER THE DAMAGE. AT NO TIME WAS THAT VEHICLE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. FILED CLAIM WITH ALLSTATE. DEALER REPAIR SHOP WAS AUTHORIZED BY IN-HOUSE ADJUSTER TO DETERMINE IF DAMAGE WAS COVERED. INSURANCE ADJUSTER CALLED TO SAY THEY WOULD COVER THE CLAIM. WE DISPUTED THE CLAIM AND ASKED THE ADJUSTER TO VISUALLY INSPECT THE VEHICLE HIMSELF BECAUSE WE FELT IT WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. ADJUSTER CONCURRED AND DENIED THE CLAIM. [WE WERE DISTURBED BY THE WAY OUR CLAIM WAS HANDLED AND WONDERED IF INSURANCE FRAUD WAS BEING PLAYED OUT. WE ARE FOLLOWING THRU WITH THE STATE INSURANCE DEPT.] WHEN THE CLAIM WAS DENIED THE DEALER TOLD US TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO WHERE WE PURCHASED IT BECAUSE THEY THEN DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A CONVERSION VAN COMPANY ISSUE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE CONVERSION COMPANY INSTALLED 20 INCH RIMS/TIRES ON A VEHICLE WITH 16 INCH MAXIMUM RIM/TIRE REQUIREMENT PER ENGINEERING SPECS. THE QUESTIONS THAT ARISE NOW ARE: WHY DID THEY SELL TO US A VEHICLE WHICH DOES NOT MEET ENGINEERING SPECS? TO WHAT EXTENT WAS MY FAMILY AT RISK OR IN DANGER? HOW MANY OTHER FAMILIES ARE THERE WHO ARE POTENTIALLY AT RISK DUE TO THIS CONDITION? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN? WHAT RECOURSE DO WE HAVE? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 15 PASSENGER VAN. WHILE DRIVING 25MPH THERE WAS A POPPING SOUND IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. SLIDING DOOR WAS CLOSING AT FIRST, THEN WHEN THE CHILD SAFETY LATCH WAS ENGAGED, IT WOULDN'T CLOSE. THEN WHEN WE SWITCHED THE LATCH BACK, THE DOOR CLOSED AND WOULDN'T OPEN AGAIN. THE DOOR, ALTHOUGH CLOSED MORE THAN BEFORE, WASN'T FULLY CLOSED AS IT KEPT THE DOME LIGHTS ON AND YOU COULD HEAR THE WIND BLOWING. THE FACT THAT THE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN, WE HAD TO CLIMB IN AND OUT OF THE VAN VIA THE PASSENGER DOOR OR CLIMB OVER THE BACK SEATS AND OUT THE BACK DOORS.
