The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering warning light, the ESC service, the ESC off, and the traction control warning lights illuminated, followed by the loss of power steering functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the power steering assist motor and the power steering assist module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in a recall or TSB. The failure mileage was 185,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AT SOUTH HAVEN CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (10159 M-140 SOUTH HAVEN MI 49090, (269)906-9558), AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS A ONE TIME FREE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED LOSING POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS INTERMITTENTLY. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, A RECALL ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FOR THIS 2009 HHR WAS FOUND. IN ADDITION, I FOUND THAT GM ISSUED A BULLETIN (14119) UNDER RECALL N140115, STATING THAT FOR MODEL YEAR 2006-2008 AND EARLY PRODUCTION 2009 HHRS, TO PROVIDE EPS MOTOR REPLACEMENT FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE I HAVE NOT HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2009, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK UP THE RECALL HISTORY AND FOUND THE EPS MOTOR WAS REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. HOWEVER, THIS LATE 2008 PRODUCTION/MID-2009 DELIVERY HHR IS LOSING POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS AGAIN. WHILE MYSELF AND TEENAGE DAUGHTER HAVE DRIVEN IT ON THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP COULD GET NO DIAGNOSTIC CODE OF THIS AND HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THE MOTOR REPLACEMENT. I AM VERY DISTURBED THAT THIS PROBLEM 1. GENERATES NO CODE, 2. IS BEING UNACKNOWLEDGED BY GM, AND 3. SEEMS TO BE AN ON-GOING THREAT TO SAFETY FOR MANY HHR DRIVERS. GM HAS MADE A MISTAKE IN NOT INCLUDING MY MAKE/MODEL (OR SO IT SEEMS) IN THE BULLETIN PERTAINING TO REPLACING THE EPS MOTOR FOR LIFE AND IS FAILING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES ON THE ROAD NEEDING TO BE SERVICED, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DRIVER STATES THERE IS A PROBLEM POSING A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS TO RIGHT BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING SLOW. I HAVE TO HOLD THE STEERING WHILE REAL TIGHT AND FIRM TO STOP IT FROM TURNING RIGHT. ON AUG 26 2017 AT 5PM, I WAS READY TO MAKE A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL TOOK CONTROL OVER ME, THE CAR TURNED RIGHT BY ITSELF BEFORE I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING IN SLOW TRAFFIC, THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TOWARDS RIGHT, I HAD PUT STRENGTH AND HOLD FIRM AND STRONG WITH MY HANDS ON STEERING WHEEL TO STOP IT FROM TURNING RIGHT BY ITSELF. WHILE DRIVING FAST, I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE TOWARDS RIGHT AND HEARD VIBRATING SOUND...IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF THE STEER WHEEL IS OUT OF CONTROL.

I was driving about 30 miles an hour in town when the check engine light started to Flash then immediately following all the dashlight started to Flash and then not a second later the car shut off the steering will locked the brakes locked up And all the doors were locked So at 30 miles an hour the brakes locked up the steering wheel locked so I couldn't turn the wheel and the car shut off There were no injuries thank God

My air bag service light continues to turn on and off at various intervals. I think it has to do with a faulty passenger underneath sensor but I'm not sure. I know there's been several recalls involving the airbag wiring and electronics so I think it may be related to that work. It hasn't been fixed yet or replaced. I believe it maybe related to the other airbag recalls or a faulty sensor from the start. This is a common issue I've come to findout.

last week we noticed gasoline showing up on the ground in front of the rear driver side tire. I looked underneath and found a pipe that seems to be corroded. I looked online and found that many people have the same problem, so I haven't had it checked at a dealership. The pipe continues to leak after you walk away and I'm afraid someone will discard a cigarette near the vehicle, or worse. We are generally home, and can be reached for inspection.

I was backing my car out of the garage and I noticed a line of liquid on the ground, indicating a leak. I immediately stopped the car, got out and took a look. I traced the leak back to the drivers side at the rear, just before the tire. I could see fuel dripping down from under the car. The exhaust pipe right near the dripping was also wet. I could smell gas and I confirmed that was what was dripping by smelling a drop after I let it fall on my finger. Definitely gasoline. After the dripping stopped, I pushed the car back into the garage. I used a QuickJack to raise the car to get a better look at the area where the leak was coming from. There was massive corrosion/rust of the metal lines in the area. The leak was easily found by just looking for where the lines were wet. Even though fuel was no longer dripping (the engine was off so there was no fuel pressure anymore), there was still wetness from the gas leaking through the rusted area. I will not drive the car again until the leak has been repaired. Considering the fact that the exhaust pipe had also gotten wet from the leak, the chance of a fire was VERY LIKELY. I consider myself very lucky to have found the leak when I did, rather than have a fire occur while driving. Even if I were to pull over and shut the engine off immediately, a significant amount of fuel would leak out and feed the fire as the fuel escapes under pressure. This certainly could cause the rest of the car to catch fire. This is clearly unsafe and dangerous. If the leak occurred after the car was put in the garage with the exhaust still hot, a fire could not only consume the vehicle but the garage and the house as well. That could cause injury or even death in a worst case scenario. This is clearly an unsafe design and a clear risk to both people and property. This absolutely should be the basis for a recall where the corroded lines are replaced free with new lines made of a more durable material such as stainless steel.

MY STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE, ONSET ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO DRIVING, SPEEDING UP OR BRAKING HAS NO EFFECT ON THE FREQUENCY OR LEVEL OF SHAKE. MY STEERING WHEEL WILL BE NORMAL, ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE, GOING THE SAME SPEED WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE. I CAN STOP AND PARK THE CAR, RESTART IT, WILL NOT SHAKE UNTIL I AM DRIVING AGAIN ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE. WHILE SHAKING, IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN TO GET INTO THE NEXT LANE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE CITY DRIVING, I AM TOO AFRAID TO TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY OR GO OVER 40 MPH AS I FEEL LIKE I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES.

MY CAR'S POWER STEERING HAS DANGEROUSLY DISAPPEARED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE POWER STEERING CAME ON ON THE DASHBOARD AND I HAD TO STIR THE CAR WITH SO MUCH FORCE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD MY 10-YEAR-OLD SON WITH ME ON HIS WAY TO SCHOOL. I was driving and I went to roll the sunroof down and it ejected itself and came off the whole glass and frame and broke in many pieces on the bridge if there would of been a car or person walking it would of hit them and caused a major accident its going to cosy over$2000.00 to get it replaced whicj I cant afford to do I feel like the manufacturer should replace the part it wasnt my fault

PULLED IN TO DRIVEWAY AND WENT TO EXIT VEHICLE. THE PLASTIC DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF IN MY HAND. THIS BASICALLY LEFT ME STUCK IN THE VEHICLE UNLESS I CRAWLED OVER THE CENTER CONSOLE OR UNLESS I WAS ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE ELECTRIC WINDOW, PIVOT IN THE SEAT, AND REACH THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. OBVIOUSLY IN AN ACCIDENT, OR VEHICLE FIRE, THE EXTRA TIME NEEDED TO EXIT, IF THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF, IS UNACCEPTABLE. IN APRIL 2013 OUR SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STARTED COMING ON AND OFF AT VARIED TIMES. THERE WAS NO RHYME OR REASON FOR WHEN IT WENT ON OR OFF. OUR DEALER STATED THAT IF THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS OFF AT THE TIME OF AN ACCIDENT, THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY (SCARED US INTO THE REPAIR).THE CAR WAS JUST OUT OF OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD OF 4 YR 48000 MILES. SO WE WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE REPAIR WAS A CONNECTOR MODULE AND TOTAL COST WAS 264.59 FOR THE REPAIR. AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED I STARTED FINDING ALL KINDS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH CHEVY CARS AND TRUCKS, INCLUDING VARIOUS YEARS OF THE HHR. I CONTACTED GM BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER THIS REPAIR STATING THEY KNEW OF NO ISSUES REGARDING A SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF. THIS WAS OBVIOUS A LIE SINCE IT'S ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND CHEVY HAS RECALLED SOME CARS AND TRUCKS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT WE CAN'T BE SURE IF THE AIR BAG WOULD WORK DURING A CRASH IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT NO COST. On February 10, 2022 I was riding in the front passenger seat of this vehicle with the front passenger window partially down. I had my fingers of my right hand partially out of the window holding the top of the door frame. The driver hit the remote switch for auto close of the power window. As I felt intense pain in my right hand I quickly withdrew my hand and noted spurting blood, mutilated pinky finger and intense pain. The driver's view of my hand may have been obstructed by my body. My fingertip was still stuck between the top of the window and door frame. I went directly to the nearest Emergency Room and was diagnosed with a traumatic amputation of the right hand (dominant) fifth finger with complete loss of the nail. Three hand x-rays show open, partially displaced fracture of the distal phalange. Due to severe mutilation of the fingertip it could not be reattached to the remaining portion of my finger. This vehicle must not have been in compliance with the FMVSS No. 118 that required anti-pinch windows in vehicles from 2008 forward. Owner's manual has no statement that it has this safety feature.

My key gets stuck in my ignition and will not pull out happens when I'm in park and it's been a persistent ongoing problem I how to do the key release the button every time to have my keys released the back hatch of my HR is locked and it will not open it from the outside Norwood open from the inside this is also been ongoing issue I had my brake line and abs and line and inspect them in your place and my abs traction and tire pressure light remain on even after being serviced I took it to a dealership dealership and the dealership refuse to do the recall on it and want to charge me to have the whole modules replaced but it's my knowledge has a recall going on with the traction and abs I bought the car used about 4 months ago. Before my back Hats about of my HHR locked up for good where I used to lock the door the back latched did not lock you and you will still be able to open the bat match even if the doors are locked so either I'm facing it being locked completely and I can't get into it or on a good day is unlocked for me but will not remain lock when I lock the doors

AFTER PURCHASE OF A NEW 2009 SS HHR. DURING THE MORNING I BACKED INTO MY GARAGE AND NOTICED A VERY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THIS BECAME A ROUTINE SITUATION UPON "COLD STARTUPS" AND WHEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER,(CLASSIC CHEVY CHEVROLET, GRAPEVINE, TX) AFTER SEVERAL POOR STOPS, MY SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISED "YEAH WE KNOW ABOUT IT". WHEN GENTLY BRAKING TO A STOP THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL HAS A CLICKING OR CLUNKING SOUND, NOT HEARD WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES HARD. MINOR PULSING CAN BE FELT IN THE BRAKE PEDAL. FIRST TRIP TO DEALER THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT TURNED THE DRUM AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR A TIME. TWO MONTHS LATER PROBLEM IS BACK. THIS TIME DEALER REPORTED THEY TIGHTENED UP THE MUFFLER. AT 18,000 MILE MY 2009 CHEVROLET HHR STARTED SHAKING AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHILE GOING DOWN A 5% MOUNTAIN GRADE. WITHIN A SHORT DISTANCE AFTER LEVELING OFF THE BRAKING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND AT 24,000 MILE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE ROTORS HAD OVER HEATED AND WARPED. AT 44,000 MILE THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AGAIN AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHILE GOING DOWN A 5% MOUNTAIN GRADE. BRAKE PADS DO WEAR OUT. ROTORS DO NEED TO BE TURNED. VIOLENT SHAKING FROM ROTORS WARPING BECAUSE OF OVERHEATING IS NOT NORMAL. IT IS AN INDICATION THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM MAY BE UNDERSIZED FOR THIS VEHICLE OR THAT INFERIOR PARTS ARE BEING USED. THIS IS THE THIRD BRAKE FAILURE IN THIS NEW CHEVY HHR. BRAKES STARTED FEELING SOFT. I WAS DOING 65 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY (DENVER C470) AND NEEDED TO BRAKE HARD. BRAKES WERE SOFT AND THE CAR PULLED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT - NEARLY TAKING ME INTO THE CAR BESIDE ME. THERE WERE NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS. HAD IT TOWED TO MEDVED CHEVY IN CASTLE ROCK, CO. THEY REPORT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS FULL. APPEARS TO HAVE AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE. THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOTH FRONT CALIPERS. SERVICE MANAGER REPORTED THEY REALLY HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT WAS WRONG, BUT THEY REPLACED THE MODULATOR VALVE SINCE IT WAS THE ONLY REMAINING COMPONENT THEY HAD NOT REPLACED. IN NONE OF THE 3 FAILURES COULD THEY FIND EVIDENCE OF ANY FLUID LEAKS. HE SAID THEY HAD WORKED WITH GM ENGINEERING WHO COULD NOT OFFER ANY OTHER SOLUTIONS. I WENT ONLINE AND CHECKED FOR PROBLEMS WITH CHEVY HHR WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FOUND THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. ON ONE WEBSITE, CHEVY HHR.NET, THERE EVEN IS A DISCUSSION BOARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM. IT'S THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION AND FROM EVERYTHING I'VE READ THIS HAPPENS BETWEEN 60,00 AND 85,000 MILES ON THE HHR AND CHEVY COBALT. ON MAY 26TH OF 2011, I BOUGHT A 2009 CHEVY HHR. ACTUAL MILES WAS 43K. IT NOW HAS 45K. I HAVE NOT EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT ON THE CAR WHEN I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM. ON JULY 7 AFTER I ARRIVED AT WORK, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF SO I COULD FINISH MY WORK DAY. GOT THE CAR HOME AND HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AGAIN. WHEN I CONTACTED A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE PERSONNEL ABOUT MY CAR NOT SHUTTING OFF, HE SAID, 'LET ME GUESS, THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION'? I SAID YES AND HE QUOTED THE PRICE WOULD BE 3 OR 4 HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX IT. ON JULY 8TH, WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. HAD TO LEAVE VEHICLE RUNNING WHILE I PHONED TO FIND A CHEVROLET DEALER THAT PROVIDED SAT. SERVICE - LUCKILY ONE IN THE JACX FL AREA. TOLD THEM OF PROBLEM AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING VEHICLE RIGHT AWAY SO THEY COULD REPAIR, WHICH THEY DID. WOULD ASSUME THAT THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AS THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK TO REPLACE RIGHT AWAY. I WAS DRIVING MY CHEVY HHR WHEN IT STARTED OVERHEATING AND SMOKING AND DIDN'T SEEM SAFE TO DRIVE, SO I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AT ABOUT 147,000 MILES DUE TO OVERHEATING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WHICH WOULD BE 4,000. WANTING A SECOND OPINION, WE HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO BASICALLY SAID THE EXACT SAME THING. THEN WECALLED GM BECAUSE THE MECHANIC TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A TECH BULLETIN OUT ON IT AND THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE HHR'S SO WE WERE HOPING THAT GM WOULD HELP US SINCE THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. AFTER PARKING IN THE DRIVE WAY AROUND 11:30 PM THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TRIED TO USE THE RELEASE PLUNGER BUT ENDED UP REMOVING THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER AND FORCING IT OVER THE KEY. THEN I PULLED THE WIRE HARNESS OFF WHICH SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. The contact stated that the TPMS, ESC, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact researched online and determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: PE20011 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). The contact called the local dealer and was informed there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 136,440.

When driving my 2009 HHR the steering wheel shakes & vibrate at different intervals. Usually while slowing down to a stop & sometimes after during high speeds. Recently the noise it made was frightening. I had to use my emergency flashers & drive 50 mi per hr. on the freeway to arrive home safely. I took my car to Mark Chevrolet & reported it on 08/02/2021. The car's mileage was 133344. The car is not an everyday vehicle that is driven often. I received the car on 08/17/2021 after the steering column & shaft were replaced along with resurfacing front brake rotors & rear brake job. On August 18, 2021 while driving on the freeway I went to blow my horn at a hazardous situation & discovered none of the steering wheels controls were working, horn & etc. I immediately returned my car to Mark Chevrolet & reported their negligence & how they had risk my life to release the car without these functions working. They supposedly corrected the problem. On 07/05/2022 I had to return my car to Mark Chevrolet because I was experiencing the identical problem with my steering wheel vibrating & make noise. My cars mileage was only 137641 less than a year later with just 4,297 miles driven. They claimed to have tightened something up in the column & returned my car on 07/12/2022. As I was driving on 07/16/2022 again the steering wheel started vibrating & making strange loud noises. I felt so unsafe & tried to make it home safely driving at a reduced speed. I plan to return the car this week back to Mark Chevrolet and am asking for support to rectify this situation. I understand there was a recall on Chevrolet HHR 2009 Steering Electric Power Assist System. I don't know if this issue is related to that. I never received communication from General Motors stating that my vehicle was affected but apparently there is a problem. Please Help!

My 2009 Chevy HHR began leaking fuel. In April 2020 I had the fuel line repaired. I was told that this is a very common problem with the HHRs because of where the fuel line is located. I just paid $1049 to have the fuel line replaced. I understand that the NHTSA is investigating this issue. I would like to add my complaint to your list of frustrated HHR customers.

MEETING THE SAME MILEAGE ON THE 2009 AND ALREADY MAKING THE SAME EXACT NOISE . ALMOST AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY FOR FEARING OF LOOSING THE STEERING AND KILLING ANYONE. I HAVE READ UP ON THIS CONCERN AND HAVE SEEN ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH SAME NOISE AND HAVE SPENT 1,000S OF DOLLARS AND NOISE STILL THERE. MY 2009 HHR HAS WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS THE MAY 15, 2014 GM TAIL LIGHT MALFUNCTION. THE MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED FROM FAULTY WIRING AND CAUSES THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THEY REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS MALFUNCTION ALSO DISABLES SAFETY FEATURES LIKE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ' WHICH TRIES TO CORRECT FOR SKIDS ' AND PANIC BRAKING ASSIST, WHICH IS DESIGNED TO MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE'S FULL BRAKING POWER IS BEING USED IN AN EMERGENCY. IT ALSO DISABLES THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE TRACTION CONTROL. IN 2014 G.M. SAID IT KNEW OF HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND 13 ACCIDENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS AND SEVERAL ISSUES OF ROAD RAGE FROM OTHER DRIVERS SINCE MY HHR BEGAN THE MALFUNCTIONING IN FEBRUARY 2014 WHICH IS WHEN I FIRST CONTACTED GM TO GET IT FIXED. SINCE THEN I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA, THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, THE STATE OF WISCONSIN CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY AND GM BUT HAVE NOT YET HAD ANYONE STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE MALFUNCTION CAUSES THE BCM TO LOSE MEMORY WITH THE BRAKE POSITIONING SENSOR I DID TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEM RE-LEARN THE MEMORY BETWEEN THE TWO. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY AND LASTED ABOUT TWO MONTHS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS DONE EVERY TWO MONTH AS A SOLUTION. GM NEEDS TO BE ORDERED TO FIX THE ISSUES CORRECTLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS FATALLY INJURED.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE WARNING CHIME. I HAVE HAD 3 PROBLEMS SO FAR WHERE MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAVE CONTACTED TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERS AND THEY SAID THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. 2009 HHR. WE HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH IS CAR, I DON'T HAVE THE SPACE TO TELL YOU ALL THE COMPLAINTS. THIS IS THE LATEST HAPPENING; WIFE CALLS ME FROM TOWN, CANT GET OUT OF THE CAR, DOOR WONT OPEN. FINALLY HAD TO CRAWL OVER THE CONSOLE AND EXIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. QUIET A FEAT FOR A 260 LB 72 YEAR OLD LADY. NOW I READ ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM FOR HHR GOING ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2007. ONE PERSON SAID THE DEALER CHARGED $450.00, BECAUSE THE WHOLE DOOR PANEL HAD TO BE REPLACED. GM IS CERTAINLY AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCKS AND LATCHES ON THE HHR. WHEN SOME GETS BURNED ALIVE BECAUSE THEY CANT GET OUT OF THE CAR GM CANNOT SAY THE WERE NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURES OF THE DOOR LATCHES BECAUSE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DOORS FAILING TO OPEN. ASKED HIM TO CHECK THE CAR, HOURS ON SIGN STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD AVAILABLE UNTIL 5:30. IT WAS CURRENTLY 4:50 PM. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE CABLE FRACTURED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING RACK WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE ROUGHLY AFTERWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE, DOOR HANDLE AND THE EXHAUST AND THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE BRAKE PROBLEM OR THE FOUL ODOR THAT WAS COMING THROUGH THE EXHAUST. IN ADDITION, THE CABLE IN THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND REMOVE THE KEY TO GO INTO A STORE. I COULD NOT TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF OR REMOVE THE KEY. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND PARKED. I COULD STILL NOT TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF OR REMOVE THE KEY. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS OF PUTTING CAR INTO REVERSE, OR DRIVE AND INTO PARK DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE KEY WAS TRAPPED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH! CALLED ONSTAR AND WAS FORWARDED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE; TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED. TOW TRUCK DELIVERED CAR TO DEALERSHIP WITH ENGINE STILL RUNNING. AT SPEED ON STEEP DOWNHILL WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND ROTORS WERE TURNED AND NEW BRAKE PADS INSTALLED ALSO A REPAIR WAS MADE TO A STEERING COMPONENT. LESS THAN 5,000 MILES LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAS RETURNED. *TR

VISITING MY DAUGHTER. STARTED TO GO HOME. THE HEAD LAMPS WOULD NOT COME ON. AFTER 10 OR 15 MINUTES OF TURNING SWITCHES, TURNING MOTOR OFF AND ON, NOTHING WORKED. SO HERE AM I STUCK MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WONT COME ON. IN FURSTRATION I SLAPPED THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT,IT CAME ON. SO I WALKED TO THE OTHER SIDE AND GAVE IT A SLAP,AND IT CAME ON. WE DROVE THE THIRTY MILES HOME WORRYING IF THEY WOULD GO OUT AGAIN. GOT HOME OK. NOW WE HAVE TO HIT BOTH HEADLIGHTS TO GET THEM ON.THE WARRANTY IS OUT AND DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE WHOLE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY TO EVEN GET TO THE HEAD LIGHTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET HHR LT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A CLUNKING NOISE AND SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BEARINGS, HUBS, RIMS, THE BRAKE SYSTEM, AND THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE YET THE FAILURE RECURRED LESS THAN 100 MILES LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.

WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 09 CHEVY HHR AND WITHIN THE FIRST 150 MILES WE GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL WAS RUNNING LEAN. HE RESET THE COMPUTER AND TOLD ME TO PUT FUEL ADDITIVE IN THE TANK. I DID SO AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL COMING ON AND THE ENGINE IS BEGINNING TO STALL AND LOSE POWER....WHAT ARE WE TO DO, CAR STILL HAS A FACTORY WARRANTY, BUT CAN'T GET HELP... *TR

UPDATED TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET HHR. HE STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON AND THAT THERE WAS NO MANUAL SWITCH TO OPERATE THE LIGHTS CAUSING THEM TO STAY ON AT ALL TIMES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT IT WOULD BE TOO COSTLY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 22,000. THIS A 2009 CHEVROLET HHR 2.2 LITER ENGINE 4CYL. DURING RUSH HOUR IN THE MORNING,IN CITY TRAFFIC I WAS GETTING IN TO THE FREEWAY FLOW I HAD TO STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL ON AN OFF, WHEN I NOTICE THE CAR GOT SLUGGISH AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE AMOUNT OF REQUEST ON MY FOOT, I WAS LUCKY AND GOT OF THE FREEWAY THEN I NOTICED THE INFO ON THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL WAS WARNING! "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", TURNED ENGINE OFF AND THE CAR STARED WORKING NORMALLY, THIS SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN A WEEK LATER AND THEN SOONER UNTIL THE CAR HAD NO POWER AND FINALLY DID NOT START ANY MORE I HAD E DIAGNOSTICS READ OUT AND DESCRIBED "WRONG READINGS ON THE THROTTLE BODY" AND "WRONG GAS PEDAL POSITION," I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY A $400.00 PART DID NOT FIX IT THEN THE GAS PEDAL $90 DLLS PART, AND THAT FIXED IT! I' AM AN ELECTRICIAN FOR THE CITY,I WORKED IN THE ELECTRONICS MFG 25 YEARS, SO I ALWAYS WANT TO KNOW THE SOURCE OF PROBLEMS SO I DISASSEMBLED THE GAS PEDAL, AND FOUND THAT THE CARBON ON THE POTENTIOMETER WAS WARN OUT, SO I NOTICED THAT THE STEEL SWEEPERS WHERE ASSEMBLED BACKWARDS AND THEY WERE SCRAPING THE CARBON AWAY OF THE LITTLE PC BOARD PART NO.807819 THIS IS INSIDE THE GAS PEDAL ASSY. FAILURE: "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON. 1ST INCIDENT: "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON WITH PASSENGER SITTING IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, DEALERSHIP REPAIRED FAULTY COMPONENT. 2ND INCIDENT: "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON WITH PASSENGER SITTING IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, DEALERSHIP REPAIRED DIFFERENT FAULTY COMPONENT. 3RD INCIDENT: USE OF 12V ACCESSORY, NO PASSENGER PRESENT, AS WELL AS PASSENGER PRESENT, "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ON/OFF. CORRECTIVE ACTION: DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NOT TO USE 12V ACCESSORIES AS THEY MAY CAUSE SOME RF INTERFERENCE. 4TH INCIDENT: "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON WITH PASSENGER SITTING IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, DEALERSHIP REPLACED COMPONENTS, FOUND FAULTY WIRING 5TH INCIDENT: "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT A PASSENGER IN PASSENGER SEAT ON THE WAY UPTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. CONTACTED GM ABOUT POSSIBILITY FOR LEMON LAW REMEDY, WAS REFUSED BUY-BACK OPTION WITH STATEMENT THAT THE VEHICLE IS FIXED AND IN PROPER WORKING ORDER. REPRESENTATIVE PUSHED TOWARDS KEEPING VEHICLE. I PERSONALLY DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE, AT THIS POINT, IN THE SAFETY DEVICES OF THIS 2009 CHEVY HHR, NOR DO MY PASSENGERS. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE TECHNICIANS HAVE REPAIRED SEVERAL COMPONENTS, AND YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THIS LAST TIME IN FOR SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE, THEREFORE NO SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED OTHER THAN TESTING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET HHR. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE DEALER INSTALLED HEATED SEATS. AFTERWARDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS STOPPED WORKING. THE HEATED SEATS ARE DRAINING THE BATTERY IN THE VEHICLE. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, IT FAILS TO START DUE TO THE DRAINED BATTERY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO BE RESTARTED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT A SWITCH UNDERNEATH THE SEATS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER FOR THEM TO REDO THE INSTALLATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 620. OIL LEAK ONTO THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. THE DEALER FOUND THE BRAKE FLUID CAP WAS NOT SEALED PROPERLY. THE HEATED SEATS THAT WERE I INSTALLED WERE CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY WHICH WAS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DIE. UPDATED 03/19/09. *JB
