TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO TURN A CORNER. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND CAUSED MINOR INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER (CHEVROLET OF GOLDSBORO, 3300 HIGHWAY 70 BYPASS, EAST GOLDSBORO, NC 27534, (919)-429-9909) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,507.

WINTER OF 2016 I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE I WAS DRIVING 60MPH. MY WHEEL WAS ALMOST LIKE IT WAS FROZE AND TOOK ALL I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID I WAS TOLD BY A MOTORIST WHO STOPED TO HELP. HE SAID DRIVE IT TO NEAREST MECHANIC. I DID AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HOSE HAD BURST. HE FIXED IT. THEN 4 MO LATER CAR WAS WHINNING AND LOST STEERING AGAIN. THIS TIME PUMP WAS BAD AND OTHER HOSE WAS LEAKING. FIXED IT. NOW DRIVING ON A COLD DAY AND LOST STEERING AGAIN!!! FLUID ALL OVER GROUND AND HORRIBLE WHINE AGAIN. I AM A DISABLED 55 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND ITS SO NHARD TO STEER CAR. IM VERY LUCKY I DIDNT CRASH. AS WELL AS BEING ON A VERY STRICT INCOME OF SSI DISABILITY AND UNABLE TO AFFORD GETTING SAME THING FIXED. ITSVERY UPSETTING. I CHECKED FOR MRECAL AND THERE ISNT ANY FOR THIS. HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR 4 YEARS HAPPENING OCCASIONALLY, NOW DAILY, AND KEEPS GETTING WORSE. POWER STEERING FAILS AT LOW IDLE AND SOMETIMES GETS STUCK UNTIL I GIVE IT A LITTLE ACCELERATION TO GET IT TURNING. HAPPENS WHILE TRYING TO PARK OR TURN AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, BUT NOW HAPPENING AT A FASTER SPEED, WHILE TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET.

I got a P2138 code for Accelerator Pedal Sensor error. From what I have seen this is caused by the two sensors not matching. I have repaired this issue previously about 3 years ago, but it has happened again. This seems to be a common issue with GM cars of this era.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE TICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CHECK BATTERY SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ON FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS ,WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNT TO THE GROUND, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND STATE.POLICE SAID THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. IWAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND BARELY GOT OUT OF THE CAR BEFORE THE WHOLE CAR WAS UP IN FLAMES.

While I was driving I had to stop on a hill and when I pushed the gas to accelerate it wouldn’t move the engine just revved up and hasn’t moved since just when you push on the gas and the rpm’s go up to 5-6 and it will move maybe a foot or so. There was no warning or messages that appeared before this happened and even now after it’s happens and it’s not showing any code to what’s wrong with it. It affected my safety and others because it wouldn’t move while in the middle of the road and I could have got in to a serious car accident because of it.

IN MY 006 IMPALA SS THE TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO SLIP. THE CAR IS AROUND 83,000 MILES WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THIS ISSUE, AND THE VEHICLE WASN'T DOING ANY HARD ACCELERATION (AROUND 20-25 MILES AN HOUR SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR). I AM WORRIED THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT REPLACED.

I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. TWO TRANSMISSIONS REPLACED, TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED, FOUR BATTERIES, WATER PUMP REPLACED, POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED, ENGINE MOUNTING BOLT REPLACED, WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP DOESN'T WORK, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL/ABS WARNING LIGHTS ARE MOSTLY ON. SUNROOF EXPLODED. SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I WAS DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY, AROUND 70 DEGREES. IT WAS A 2-LANE HIGHWAY, AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES NEARBY IN EITHER DIRECTION, NO TREES NEAR THE HIGHWAY, AND THE ROADWAY WAS CLEAR. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55-60 MPH. THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOUD CRACKING SOUND, AND SEVERAL SECONDS LATER A LOUDER BANG. I STOPPED AND FOUND THE SUNROOF WAS IN TINY PIECES. FORTUNATELY, THE INSIDE COVER WAS CLOSED, SO THE AMOUNT OF GLASS COMING INTO THE CAR WAS FAIRLY SMALL. I NO LONGER OWN THIS CAR. I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ANY KIND OF HELP ON THIS. I JUST RECENTLY BECAME AWARE THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE, AND SIMPLY WANTED TO REPORT IT. THE DATE BELOW IS A GUESS, MIGHT EVEN BE A YEAR OR TWO OFF.

THE DOOR JUST WILL NOT OPEN. THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME CONSIDERING IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT AND THE BACK PASSENGER NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO. I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIRES AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT (M-S P225/55R17 95T, DOT M643 BHDR 3905). I WAS ADVISED THAT ALL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE TREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE IN THE SAME SPOT. THE TIRES STILL HAD FROM 7/32 TO 9/32 TREAD REMAINING. HAVING TAKEN OFF ONE TIRE TO INSPECT IT PROPERLY, THE DEFECT WAS FOUND TO BE SO BAD THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT REMOUNT THE TIRE ON TO THE VEHICLE UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW. AT THE DIRECTION OF GOODYEAR, THE DEFECTIVE TIRES WERE THEN TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED BY A GOODYEAR DEALER AND THE DEFECT WAS AGAIN CONFIRMED. IF AIR POCKET DEVELOPS, CHEVY HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN DETAILING A COMPLICATED PROCEDURE WHEREBY THE SYSTEM HAS TO BE DRAINED AND ANTIFREEZE THEN PUT BACK IN SYSTEM. MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA WILL NOT TURN ON. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STARTER WITH THE SAME RESULTS. STARTER RELAY IS ALSO GOOD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB AND TO MY HORROR, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, WITH VERY HIGH DOLLAR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS THAT MAY NOT WORK. EVERY TIME I BRING IN THIS VEHICLE I AM CHARGED 100 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO SAY WHAT IS WRONG AND WHEN THEY (SUPPOSEDLY) FIX IT ( OR SAY IT DID NOT DO IT WITH THEM AND ITS ALL IN MY HEAD AND YOUR DOING SOMETHING WRONG TO IT), IT DOES IT AGAIN. THE CHARGING SYSTEM IS OK BUT THERE IS NO POWER AT ALL THRUOUT THE CAR BUT IF YOU WAIT A COUPLE OF HOURS IT WILL SHOW LIGHTS BUT IT WILL NOT EVEN CRANK AND THEN GO COMPLETELY DEAD. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM, THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU COME FROM A START OR AFTER YOU BACK UP AND DRIVE FORWARD. THIS IS NOT NORMAL BUT CHEVY WILL SAY IT US. IT HAD TO BE TOWED HOME AND THEN TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN FRANKFORT, IL. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DEPICT THE PROBLEM AND HELD MY CAR FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT MAY BE SOMETHING INTERMITTENT BUT FAILED TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP RELEASED MY CAR TO ME AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED RETURNED THE NEXT DAY. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK RECEIVED ENGINE REDUCE POWER AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH WHEN THIS MESSAGE CAME ON AND LOST POWER TO MY CAR. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY CARS BEHIND ME. APPARENTLY MY THROTTLE BODY WAS AT FAULT. ABOUT A YEAR LATER HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN WHILE COMING HOME FROM WORK. THROTTLE WENT BAD AND WAS NEARLY STRUCK BY TRAFFIC AGAIN. GOOGLE CHEVY IMPALA THROTTLE BODY AND YOU WILL SEE ALL THE PROBLEMS. NOT SURE HOW THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO AT LEAST 3-4 OF THESE A WEEK. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED TO BE PUT ON CARS WHEN AT ANY RANDOM POINT THIS COULD QUIT. MY COMPLAINT PROBABLY DOES NOT WARRANT A RECALL, BUT SHOULD BE HANDLED BY CONSUMER NOTIFICATION. MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA HAS DEVELOPED A FUEL RELATED PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ACTIVATE. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE USE OF E-85 FUEL. THE COMPUTER DETECTS HIGH ALCOHOL CONTENT IN THE FUEL. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND BY FLUSHING OUT THE E-85 FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM AND RESETTING THE COMPUTER. THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WAS LACK OF PROPER INSTRUCTION, FROM THE DEALER, IN THE USE OF E-85. I HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED THAT AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH E-85, THE VEHICLE MUST BE DRIVEN A MINIMUM OF 11 MILES, BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THIS GIVES THE SENSOR IN THE FUEL SYSTEM SUFFICIENT TIME TO ADJUST TO THE FUEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS SWITCHED FROM CONVENTIONAL E-10 GAS, TO E-85. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROCEDURE, UNTIL AFTER THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED. GM SHOULD NOTIFY ALL CONSUMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED 2006 AND 2007 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FLEX-FUEL ENGINES OF THIS REQUIREMENT. AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURS, THE DEALER NEEDS TO PERFORM THE RESET PROCEDURE FOR THE FUEL COMPUTER. THIS PROCEDURE REQUIRES APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS. IT IS NOT A SERIOUS DEFECT, BUT IT IS UNNECESSARY. HAD PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM DEALER IN ASHLAND VA BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2014. HAD NO CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE UNTIL FIRST TRIP NOT DRIVING VEHICLE FOR A WEEK AND UPON RETURN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. HAD JUMPED STARTED VEHICLE AND GOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH WAS ON FOR THREE DAYS THEN CUT OFF. IN FEBRUARY 2015 HAD NOT DRIVEN VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEK PERIOD AND UPON RETURN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. CHECKED BATTERY AND HAD REPLACED ALONG WITH CLEANING POSITIVE BATTERY POST FOR CORROSION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR TWO TO THREE DAYS THEN CUT OFF - CHECK CODE AT FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP SHOWED CODE P2135 - DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE POSSIBLE POWER DRAINAGE COULD BE COMING FROM AND RECOMMENDED TO TAKE VEHICLE TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM TEST FOR POWER DRAINAGE. AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED/USED WITHOUT PROLONGED PERIOD OF INACTIVITY, VEHICLE OPERATION FOR THIS MODEL YEAR IS ACCEPTABLE.

I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 IMPALA OFF AND ON FOR THE LAST YEAR, MAYBE MORE. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY GIVE ME AN ERROR OF "ENGINE POWER REDUCED." THE CAR SLOWS TO A CRAWL, HAS NO ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE SHAKES AND IT SPUTTERS UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS THE TPS SENSOR. HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. SINCE I WAS GETTING THE SAME CODES, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY MY BATTERY, BUT THERE'S NO WAY TO TELL FOR SURE WITHOUT TROUBLESHOOTING. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, ALL WHO SAY THE CODES POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THEY ALSO AGREE THAT I SHOULDN'T BE GETTING THESE CODES SO QUICKLY AFTER REPLACING THE UNIT - WHICH COST OVER $300. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS AND GOES TO GRADUATE SCHOOL FULL TIME. I DON'T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO CARELESSLY DUMP MONEY INTO A CAR. I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW AND EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT, IT HAS CAUSED NOTHING BUT AN ISSUE. I ALWAYS GET AN "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" OR SOMETIMES EVEN "STARTING DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE." THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE FROM 1-100 TIMES A DAY WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, TURNING, YOU NAME IT AND IT HAS HAPPENED. IT IS BECOMING A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE AS IT WILL DO IT IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND I FEAR THAT I WILL GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE RAN THE CODES AND REPLACED EVERY PART IN THE CAR THAT DEALERSHIPS HAVE TOLD ME TO REPLACE BUT IT STILL KEEPS HAPPENING. I PURCHASED A 2006 IMPALA SS, JUST RECENTLY AFTER REACHING 60,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING IN 4TH GEAR AND OVERDRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A SHORT 300 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD IT EITHER NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. I HAD IT REBUILT FOR $2442 ALL OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED. NOW A MERE 3 MONTHS LATER AND NOW CURRENTLY AT 69,200 MILES THE NEW TRANSMISSION IS SHOWING THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS IT HAD WHEN IT FAILED THE FIRST TIME. AGAIN WITH NO WARRANTY AND REPAIR COSTS OVER 2000 DOLLARS I WILL SOON BE FORCED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. NOT TO MENTION RENTAL CAR COSTS AND THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING THIS HAPPEN TWICE WITHIN A YEAR AND 10,000 MILES APART. MY CAR HAD BEEN SHOWING THE SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS. WHEN I CALLED SOUTHEAST KIA OF SOMERSET, THEY TRIED TO SAY IT WAS THE ACTUALLY BATTERY, KEEP IN MIND, I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR SIX WEEKS. I KNEW THAT IT WASN'T BECAUSE I HAD BEEN HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR WHATSOEVER BEFORE THIS, AND I WAS RAISED AROUND MECHANICS AND TRUCK DRIVERS, I DO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CARS. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I HAD THE BATTERY JUMPED THREE TIMES AND IT DIED SITTING THERE, WE FINALLY GOT IT CHARGED SO THAT I COULD DRIVE TO MY MOTHERS, BUT HAD PROBLEMS ON THE WAY THERE. First battery needed replaced every year then few weeks ago with no warning light or messages that battery was dieing the battery died again it was replaced then it started reving up and down on its own while driving so it goes faster then slower on its own when it feels like it.. TPS wont show tire pressure cant relearn tire positions now dash lights works usually then don't bright lights don't work now if automatic light control is on car shakes bad while breaking idles hard uses ALOT of gas now massive amount of heat coming off engine now with no dash light or guage saying temp is going up engine smells kind of bad after driving the car replaced transmission once couple years ago transmission maybe going out again the gear shift locks don't work it slips out of gear and into another gear effortlessly while driving and while parked without pressing the button to move the gear shift clicking or tapping noise started coming from front end only when turning left now does it while.turning and sometimes while.going straight and it's all still happening... theres more but not going into all of it now. DTC code listed 2days ago was listed as: B1000-00 Electronic Control Unit. Searched Google for code and got posts saying ECU needs replaced..updated or reprogrammed and some say BCU needs replaced..upgraded or reprogrammed. Each time I search the code I get a different reason for the code and different meaning. I have a 2006 Chevy Impala SS 5.3L V8 with police package. Car is available for inspection anytime.

I was driving and powersteering fluid drained and I lost control of the steering, and guide the car against the side walk. Had a mechanic change the powers steering fluid line. But now it's shooting up instead leaking down, it clogged all my spark plugs ,plus cause my cam shaft and crank shaffsensor to malfunction.,plus my belt got shredded. And now it's been over a year, and I still can't drive my car cause. It starts all over. And my front wheels are on not good arms, when crash it bent or Crack the arms.

According to my obd scanner the components that are failed is the throttle body position sensor circuit A & the throttle body position sensor circuit B. Before this happened the check engine light was on for about a week, when I scanned the vehicle with the obd-II the code for a large leak in the fuel EVAP system came up. One day while driving the vehicle I was stopped at a red light and once the light turned green I pressed the gas and the car started to sputter and move very slow also in the driver information center it intermittently showed the warnings service traction control and speed reduced. I had to pull over when safe to do so. Once I got the vehicle home I ran the scan again and it came up with the throttle body position sensor codes. The part is available for inspection. The safety of me and my passenger were in jeopardy we could've definitely been in an accident because it was so sudden when it happened. I have not taken the car to a dealer but an independent mechanic has looked at it. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than me and an independent mechanic. This was a very scary experience and I have seen many forums with the same issues from GM cars. Your attention is needed and appreciated.

LAST JUNE I WENT TO THE STORE AND TRIED TO OPEN MY BACK DOORS AND THEY WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. I WAS ABLE TO OPEN ONE OF THE BACK DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE ONLY. THE DOOR LOCKS INDICATED THE DOORS WERE NOT LOCKED. IF I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEEDED TO GET PEOPLE OUT OF THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT ON THEIR OWN. THE LOCKING MECHANISMS FAILED ON BOTH DOORS. BOTH DOORS HAS THIS LOCK ISSUE FOR ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AND THEN ONE OF THE LOCKS STARTED WORKING AGAIN FROM THE INSIDE. EVENTUALLY THE OTHER DOOR STARTED WORKING AGAIN ONCE IT WAS GETTING CLOSE TO WINTER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS LOOKED INTO AND A RECALL DONE BY GM. MY 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, AS WELL AS THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. BOTH SYSTEMS USE THE SAME ANTENNA IN THE VEHICLE, AND THE MODULE CONTROLLING EACH SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. MANY TIMES A DAY WHILE DRIVING, AN ALERT WILL APPEAR SAYING "SERVICE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM" AND I WILL LOSE READINGS OF MY TIRE PRESSURES. MANDATED IN 2005, TPMS SYSTEMS ARE AS IMPORTANT AS AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS IN VEHICLES, SO THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I RECENTLY HAD A FLAT TIRE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A BLOWOUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY HAD I NOT VISUALLY CHECKED THE TIRE BECAUSE THE TPMS SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. I HAVE FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH A DOCUMENT ID OF 1990156. I HAVE CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE WARRANTY AND A SERVICE BULLETIN IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE EQUIPMENT WITHOUT CHARGING MYSELF, THE CONSUMER. THIS SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE THESE SYSTEMS ARE IN PLACE TO INCREASE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY ARE NOT SERVING THAT PURPOSE DUE TO POOR DESIGN RIGHT OUT OF THE FACTORY. IN ADDITION TO THE FAILURE OF THE TPMS SYSTEM, THE DEFECT ALSO MAKES THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM USELESS DUE TO EXTREMELY POOR RANGE (~2 FEET). THERE IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2006-2013 IMPALA REAR DEFROSTERS NOT WORKING. LOOK ON YOUTUBE AND YOU WILL SEE THE PROBLEM IS VERY EVIDENT. GM/CHEVY USED A SMALL BULKHEAD CONNECTOR FOR THE HIGH CURRENT DEFROSTER WIRES LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE KICK PLATE OF THE 2006-2013 IMPALA'S THAT BURNS OUT. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO A FIRE HAZARD. THE "HOW TO" FIX ON YOU TUBE LOOKS LIKE IT WILL WORK, BUT THIS REALLY SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED BY GM. 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. IN JANUARY 2007 I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA AND APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. FIRST PROBLEM: "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM" (7/07) I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED FOR FREE IN TWO OF THE TIRES. I HAVE SINCE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I DID NOT HAVE THIS FIXED AT ALL IN 2008 BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSORS. I JUST LET THE MONITOR CONTINUE TO BLINK ON AND OFF. I HAD IT REPLACED IN 4/09 DUE TO OTHER STANDARD REPLACEMENTS. SECOND PROBLEM: HEATING (FOUND PROBLEM 10/07) TO GET HEAT IN THE CAR YOUR FOOT MUST BE ON THE PEDDLE AND THE CAR MUST BE MOVING. THE MOMENT YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE PEDDLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE, THE HEATER GOES OUT AND THE AIR TURNS COLD. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN 4/09, WHEN THE OTHER REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE FIXED. THIRD PROBLEM: ON AND OFF JERKING (9/07) IF YOU ARE AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT TURNS GREEN. YOU PRESS ON THE GAS TANK BUT THE CAR DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE FOR A MOMENT. THEN IT JERKS AND TAKES OFF. THE RACK AND PINION WERE REPLACED IN THE STEERING COLUMN. RECENTLY, THE WATER PUMP BEGAN OVERHEATING AND HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,174.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS LEAKING AND THEY REPAIRED THE FAILURE. CURRENTLY, THE POWER STEERING COLUMN HAS FAILED AGAIN AFTER THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING PROPERLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 36,000. UPDATED 03/26/08. *LJ THE TRANSMISSION REVERSE GEAR WAS DEFECTIVE, THE TRANSMISSION ALSO HAD A DELAYED ENGAGEMENT. THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED, THE LEFT FRONT DOOR WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD 10 TO 15 FEET BY ITSELF. THE FAILURE OCCURS WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE PERFORMS THE SAME WAY WHEN IN REVERSE. FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE. THE 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA HAD A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON A POWER STEERING HOSE I WAS NEVER NOTIFED OFF. THE HOSE EXPLODED, AND THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE 1ST DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED, BUT IT WOULD NOT STEER OUT OF THE BAY. THEY FLUSHED THE POWER STEERING UNIT, AND WITH DAYS IT WOULD NOT STEER PROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHICH AFTER TWO VISITS, DETERMINED IT NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. THEN THE ACCELERATOR STUCK TO THE FLOOR WHILE TURNING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A NEW ACCELRATOR WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AGAIN AND ATHE STEERING WENT OUT, THIS TIME, I NEARLY HIT A TELEPHONE POLE WHILE TURNING. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE CAR IN AND REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION. THE CAR AGAIN DID NOT STEER PROPERLY, AND I NEARLY HIT A PHONE POLE ON THE WAY HOME. AT ONE POINT THE SECOND DEALERSHIP PUT OVER 200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. GM SAID THE CARWAS. IN OPERATING ORDER . T HAD LESS THAN 17,000 MILES ON IT, AND DEMANDED I PICK UP THE VEHI OR BE CHARGED STORAGE FEES. I HAVE NEARLY WRECKED THE CAR DUE TO MECHANICAL DEFECTS ON THREE SEPERATE OCCASIONS. *AK

LEASED 2006 IMPALA LT 3/06. 2/07-FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS POWER STEERING LINE BLEW WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. HAD TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FIXED. THEY LEFT ALL THE FLUID ALL OVER ENGINE AND BRAKES. SHORTLY AFTER, EXPERIENCED CLANKING NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER FIRST TIME, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, COULD BE LEFT OVER POWER STEERING FLUID FROM THE BLOWOUT, CAUSING NOISE ON MOVING PARTS. ALSO NOTICED TIRES WERE WEARING. GOT OIL CHANGE AND 3RD TIRE ROTATION FOR VEHICLE. TIRES STILL WEARING IN FRONT AND NOISE BECOMING MORE PROMINENT IN FRONT. TOOK BACK TO DEALER, SAID IT WAS A TRANS AXLE PROBLEM, AND WAS ALSO CAUSING AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THEY CORRECTED THE TRANS AXLE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SAID THE ALIGNMENT AND EXCESSIVE WEAR ON TIRES WAS MY PROBLEM. THIS DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT, A PROBLEM ON THE VEHICLE CAUSED ANOTHER PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THEY SAID THEY ALIGNMENT WAS OK NOW. I ASKED IF THEY CHECKED AND THEY SAID NO, IT WOULD BE OKAY SINCE THE TRANS AXLE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. THEY SAID I COULD COMPLAIN, THEY JUST FOLLOW THE RULES FROM UP ABOVE. *AK

2006 CHEVY IMPALA SS HAS HAD SEVERAL MECHANICAL ISSUES MOST RECENTLY FLAT TIRES. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS A FRONT RIGHT TIRE LOOSING AIR SLOWLY. TODAY THE FRONT LEFT TIRE WENT FLAT SUDDENLY AND ON THE INTERSTATE. THE DAMAGED SECTION OF TIRE WAS ON THE INSIDE AND APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN PUNCTURED BY ANOTHER PIECE OF THE SUSPENSION. THE 2006 IMPALA SINCE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT HAS A HIGH PITCH EAR PIERCING LOUD NOISE THAT COMES MAINLY FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE SPEAKER AND LAST ABOUT 23 MINUTES. TURNING THE DIRECTIONAL ON EITHER WAY WILL MAKE THE NOISE CUT OFF. OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES NOW AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REMEDY OR KNOW WHAT IT IS??? WE HAVE ASKED SINCE DAY ONE FOR GM TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON OUR NEW VEHICLE AND WE FEEL WE HAVE A "LEMON". GM REFUSES TO ANSWER US AND DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT KIT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND UPDATED SOFTWARE TO THE RADIO AS WELL. THERE IS RUST UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AS WELL. ALL THESE ISSUES WERE SEEN BY US AND THE SERVICE DEPT 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WE NEED HELP!!!!! WE FEEL THE SOUND WE ARE HEARING IS SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL WARNING OR DEFECT. THE TURN SIGNAL BEING CONNECTED TO THE PROBLEM INDICATES SUCH. WE HAVE THE NOISE ON TAPE AND GOT A GM SERVICE SUPERVISOR TO WITNESS THE TECHNICAL ISSUE HAPPENING (6-10-06), THE VEHICLE THEN WENT IN FOR THE 5 TIME AND THEY REPLACED THE AMPLIFIER. THE NOISE CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY 6-18-06, THAT WE DROVE IT. IT HAS BEEN IN 5 TIMES NOW SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT 4-15-06 AND WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. *NM
