The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off and unattended in a parking lot. After about ten minutes, the contact was unlocking the vehicle and noticed fire inside the vehicle near the front of the vehicle near the radio and heater. The contact used a water bottle from the back seat to attempt to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished by a bystander using a fire extinguisher. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. There were no reported injuries. There was no police report filed, airbag deployment, or crash involved. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.

The contact stated that the grinding sound persisted after turning off the vehicle on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where unknown actuators located behind the dashboard were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. VEHICLE WILL NOT START. ALL ELECTRICAL THINGS WORK, THE LIGHTS, DASHBOARD, ETC.. BUT THERE IS NO POWER TO STARTER. THIS VEHICLE HAS 150000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD 6 NEW BATTERIES INSTALLED. THE NO START ISSUE WAS BELIEVED TO BE OCCURRING AFTER CAR WAS BROUGHT THROUGH CAR WASH DURING VERY COLD TEMPS OUTSIDE, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE NOW. NOW IT STARTS SOMETIMES AND WILL NOT START AT OTHER TIMES.

THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER QUIT WORKING. MY SHOP FOUND THAT THE DEFOGGER HAD LOST ITS GROUND FUNCTION IN THE FUSE BLOCK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FUSE BLOCK HAD TO BE REPLACED IN ITS ENTIRETY COSTING OVER 200 DOLLARS. I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE DEFOGGER FAILED.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the air bag seat sensor and side-impact sensor to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The manufacturer informed that contact that her VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V507000 (Air Bags, Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 137,700.

Air Bag Service message comes up on the information panel with the air bag light on. Did a diagnostic check showed passenger air bag. I reached under the seat and shook the wires the light and message went off, however the diagnostic check still showed the passenger air bag system. Found recall Number 16V507000. The dealer says my VIN is not in the recall however it seems I have the same problem the recall describs.

2ND AIR INJECTION CHECK & SHUT OFF VALVE HAS FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME ON THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED A FRIEND OF MINE AT GM AND A GLOBAL TECHNICAL SPECIALIST IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS/HEAT SHIELDS/SAI DIVISION OF THE GENERAL MOTORS GLOBAL PROPULSION SYSTEMS STATED THAT THERE WAS A CORROSION DURABILITY CONCERN WITH THIS PART THAT RESULTED IN ELEVATED WARRANTY. THERE IS NOW A IMPROVED SERVICE PN AVAILABLE THAT REPLACES THE PN THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN MY VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD RECALL THESE BAD PARTS AND REFUND US FOR THEM. EACH TIME THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE COST IS OVER $400 TO ME. MY FIRST REPLACEMENT PART WENT ON 1-30-13 AT 46737 MILES. THE 2ND REPLACEMENT PART WENT ON 7-8-14 AT 71368 MILES. NOW THE 3RD REPLACEMENT PART NEEDS TO GO ON AT 115429 MILES. THE 1ST REPLACEMENT PART COST ME $567 TO REPLACE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE 2ND REPLACEMENT PART COST ME $478 TO REPLACE AT AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. IT WILL COST ME THE SAME OR A LITTLE MORE TO GET THIS REPLACED FOR THE 3RD TIME. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP ME?

IT'S CAUSING MY CAR TO SLIP WHEN I TURN CORNERS OR TRY TO ACCELERATE. IT'S CAUSING PULLING AND LOSS OF SPEED IN THE ENGINE . THIS PROBLEM IS COSTING ME ALOT OF MONEY AS WELL AS FRUSTRATION. THIS PROBLEM TENDS TO ONLY HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION TRYING TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AND SIMPLY JUST TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. IT IS VERY HARD TO DESCRIBE WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS BUT IT'S LIKE THE CAR HAS A HUGE HICCUP AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE UNDERNEATH. I HAVE TO LIGHTLY TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL TO TRY AND AVOID THIS HAPPENING. I GET THE WARNING LIGHT-SERVICE STABILITRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL. I GET SCARED AT TIMES TRYING TO MAKE TURNS BECAUSE WHEN THE HICCUPPING HAPPENS, IT DELAYS THE CAR FOR SECONDS AND I TRY TO PRESS ON THE GAS BUT IT WON'T GET UP TO SPEED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IF IT'S POSSIBLE, I TRY AND WAIT FOR A GOOD DISTANCE BETWEEN ME CROSSING AND THE CARS COMING.

I HAVE HAD MY 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS FOR ABOUT ONE YEAR NOW. IT CURRENTLY HAS 164,000 MILES. THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER (BUT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN IN COLD WEATHER) TWO LIGHTS POP UP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHT. I ALSO GET THREE DISPLAY MESSAGES, SERVICE STABILTRACK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. HALF OF THE TIMES THAT THIS OCCURS MY CAR LITERALLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND A DIFFERENT MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED STATING ENGINE POWER SHUTTING DOWN. I LOSE ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE, POWER STEERING, GAS ETC. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN GOING AT HIGH SPEEDS ,WHICH IS EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. I TURN THE CAR OFF, IF I IMMEDIATELY TRY TO TURN IT BACK ON IT DOES NOTHING, IF I WAIT A MINUTE OR SO IT WILL TURN OVER. THIS APPEARS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH GM RECALL #36110. CONTACTED GM FOR FURTHER ACTION AND WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED WITH RECALL DESPITE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED FOR RECALL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAPPENS WITH ADULT FRONT PASSENGER, NOT WHILE SEAT IS EMPTY, AND WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

#1 EVERY TIME I MOVE THE DRIVERS SEAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON SAYING THAT THE AIRBAG IS DISABLED. #2 THE CAR'S TRACTION WILL ACT LIKE I'M ON ICE (EVEN ON A HOT 90 DEGREE JULY DAY). THE TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE WILL GEAR DOWN, TO THE DEGREE OF LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING LONG DISTANCES ON THE HIGHWAYS I FOUND RECALLS PENDING FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND MY VIN # IS NOT ON THE LIST. WHILE ON A MEDIUM DOWNGRADE ON HWY 101 IN MARIN COUNTY, CA AT APPROX 65 MPH I SLOWLY APPLIED BRAKES TO REDUCE SPEED. THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO "CHATTER" AND I THOUGHT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATING. I CONTINUED TO JUST "TAP" ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP MY SPEED REDUCING TO THE LEGAL LIMIT (55 MPH) AND THE CHATTERING STOPPED WHEN SPEED WAS REDUCED AND I WAS BACK ON LEVEL GRADE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND WAS CAUSED "BY THE WAY I DRIVE". I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 60 YRS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF BRAKE PROBLEM. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2009 AND IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 10K MILES PER YEAR - IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 11/2012. GM REFUSES TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PREMATURE ROTOR WARPING OR THAT THEIR BRAKE DESIGN MAYBE FAULTY, I.E. INADEQUATE COOLING FOR BRAKES, ETC. SUSPECTED FAILURE OF WIRING HARNESS ALTOGETHER WITH POSSIBLE BCM/CAM FAILURE AS WELL. DURING BATTERY TEST THERE WAS A REGULAR DROP IN VOLTAGE WHILE CONNECTED TO THE SCANNER REFLECTING A DRAIN IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT COULD FURTHER BE CAUSING AN ISSUE. CODES ARE P0513 , P0523 , P0700 , P2122 , P0411, P0449 ,P0455. WHEN DRIVING STABILITRACK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND STABILITRACK TRACTION CONTROL. SOMETIMES THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK , I'D W OK OLD HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY OR STREET AND POP THE HOOD JUST TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN.

I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH 90K+ MILES ON IT. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2011 USED WITH 40K+ MILES ON IT, SO THE CAR IS NO LONGER COVERED THROUGH WARRANTY. ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE STABILITRAC, ETC. I'M A FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT, AND A FULL TIME UBER DRIVER. LAST NIGHT I WAS WITH A PASSENGER ON [XXX] TOWARDS O'HARE AIRPORT. MY CAR REDUCED SPEED AND SUDDENLY DROPPED SPEED FROM 70MPH DOWN TO 50MPH. AS I TURNED ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHT AND START STEERING TO THE RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER I WAS IN THE THIRD LANE TO THE RIGHT (THE EXPRESSWAY IS 4 LANES) AS I WAS TURNING TO THE RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER AND TO GET TO SAFETY MY STEERING LOCKS, AND THERE WAS A RECKLESS DRIVER GOING 100MPH TRYING TO CUT OFF TRAFFIC. THE LANES TO THE LEFT WERE BLOCKED SO HE HAD TO CUT ME OFF BY OVERTAKING ME BY GOING ONTO THE SHOULDER. HE DAMAGED HIS RIGHT REARVIEW MIRROR AND PROBABLY SCRAPPED THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS CAR PULLING OFF THAT RECKLESS STUNT. About a week ago I got in my car and started driving. as I started going down the road the passengers side alarm for the seatbelt kept going off and I noticed the passenger side airbag had turned on as well. I was in my car alone and had nothing sitting in the passengers seat nor a passenger in my car. That was the first time it lasted my whole drive to work (about 13 miles) but made me think of past times my vehicle had done that as well A few weeks before that the same thing happened and I had to connect the seatbelt to make it stop. I didn’t think much of it at first and thought it was a one-off kinda thing till it became a pattern of sorts. This morning I started my car and the dash kept telling me to “service airbags” I just bought my vehicle from national auto sales in Spokane Washington the previous February of this year (2022) and only drive to work (13 miles) and back for the most part. Seeing the “service airbag” light on in my car was concerning because I don’t know what that means. As I looked further into things I found a recall for my vehicle for the passenger side airbags malfunctioning, recall #36110 to replace wiring in the seat. So I called GM and they couldn’t find a recall for my vehicle. I then called Knudtsen Chevrolet in post falls Idaho expecting it to get taken care of. The guy from the service department looked up my VIN and told me my vehicle had already been serviced in the past for this passenger side airbag recall issue at another dealership and the work had already been completed and closed so there was nothing they would be willing to do except make an appointment and pay 145.00$ for them to diagnose the situation. I explained that the recall was for the very same thing that’s happening in my vehicle right now and that was unsafe if my airbags were malfunctioning. That if they fixed it in the past why am I dealing with that exact recall issue with my airbags now? I don’t have money to pay for something that was supposed to be fixed

Passenger side low beam headlight socket continues to burn out. This is a persistent problem with several general motor vehicles! I am amazed how many people mention when I google it. GM has a service bulletin on it. This IS a SAFETY issue! Obviously this is one of the two main lights used 90% of driving at night. Apparently there is a voltage drop according to owners who have checked this out. But what ever it is there is a LOT of people who have this problem on several models and years of GM vehicles. Please check into this safety issue. Thank you!

WITH THIS THEY GAVE ME THE FOLLOWING CODES; P0068, P0340, P0651, AND P2135. DUE TO ME JUST RECENTLY GETTING THIS PART REPLACED THIS PAST FEBRUARY I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED IT. WHEN I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK IT WOULD NO LONGER EVEN START. THE MECHANIC THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR VALVE WOULD NOT CAUSE THIS ISSUE AND THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. WHEN THAT WAS DONE I WAS TOLD A SECOND TIME THAT IT WAS THE AIR VALVE. I HAVE NOW COME OUT OF POCKET TWICE FOR TOWS THAT I CAN'T AFFORD. ALONG WITH PAYING FOR AN EXPENSIVE PART POSSIBLY TWICE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50K MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER GIVEN ME ANY ISSUES UNTIL THIS YEAR.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE ROUTE, ALERTS APPEARED FOR "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND THEN "SERVICE STABILITRAK" FOLLOWED BY "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAITING A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING. THE MESSAGES STOPPED, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I DROVE A FEW MORE MILES AND APPROACHED THE ON-RAMP TO THE INTERSTATE. AS I ACCELERATED TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE, THE SAME ALERTS CAME BACK ON IN ADDITION TO "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". SHORTLY THEREAFTER, MY CAR BECAME COMPLETELY DISABLED AND SHUT DOWN AS I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE- THE ENGINE CUT OFF, NO POWER STEERING, NO ACCELERATION!! THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AND THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AND SEEMS TO RUN FINE AT THE REPAIR SHOP. WORRIED WHEN AND WHERE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HWY GOING ABOUT 70-75 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME. THE ROAD CONDITION WAS NICE WITH NO SIGNS OF WATER ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THE HOURS OF 2 PM, GREAT SUNNY DAY. THE CAR JERKED ON ME LIKE THE THROTTLE WAS GOING DOWN. AFTERWARDS THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND THE TRACTION LIGHT NOTIFICATION STARTED TO BEEP AND THE CAR IDLED DOWN AND I COULDN'T INCREASE MY SPEED. I CONTINUED ON THE HWY ASSUMING IT WOULD RECTIFY ITSELF BUT MY GIRL (WHO MAINLY DRIVES THE CAR), INFORMED ME IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER THE PAST YEAR OFF AND ON PROBABLY ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH. I HAVE CONTACTED GM (CASE # SR # 71-13111-46047) AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ASSIST STATING THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE IMPALA AND WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME SINCE I USED A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND NOT A GM DEALERSHIP. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY THAT GM HAS INSTALLED IN CHEVY IMPALA?S AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE OWNERSHIP. Front passenger seat sensor is shorting out against the seat frame which is turning vital passenger airbags off. COULDN'T GET IT INTO THE SHOP UNTIL MONDAY 12/31/12. WHEN I STARTED IT UP TO TAKE IT IN, CODES WERE ALL CLEARED AND CAR RAN JUST FINE. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS THE PEDAL SENSOR AND WOULD COST ME $275 TO REPAIR. HOW CAN WE GET GM TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ON GOING ISSUE? THIS IS A 2010 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH 45000 ON IT. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I WAS TOLD IT IS NOT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS WITH THIS SAME SENSOR FAILING AT ABOUT 45000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-75 IN SOUTHERN KY, THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED A LITTLE AND "TRACTION CONTROL" AND "STABILIZATION" ERRORS DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY "REDUCING POWER." AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE I DISCOVER THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTORS HOLDING THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER(AND ALL OTHER WIRES) IS BURNT., THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE HARNESSES FOR WIRING LEADING FORM THE ENGINE AREA, TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FOR ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE REAR DEFROSTER. VISIBLY YOU CAN SEE THE AREA THAT IS BURNT FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER IS NOT FUSED, AND IN MY OPINION IS A FIRE HAZARD. I OWN A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. I HAVE HAD MY HOUSING GEAR REPLACED AND OTHER SUSPENSION ITEMS IN THE LAST YEAR. SINCE MY LAST MAJOR JOB (HOUSING GEAR), THE CAR HAS BEEN MAKING A CLICK WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL AND WHEN GOING UP HILL. WHEN THE CAR IS GOING UPHILL AND SHIFTING GEARS IT MAKE A CLICK/POP SOUND. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY CONSTANTLY ACT AS THOUGH THEY CAN NOT HEAR THE SOUND, WHICH MAKES IT SO EASY FOR THEM TO NOT REPAIR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR THIS OVER 5 TIMES AND LEAVE WITH THE PROBLEM STILL BEING. ON TWO OF THOSE OCCASIONS THEY FOUND OTHER ISSUES WHICH RESULTED IN THE WARRANTY PAYING FOR THE PROBLEMS. I bought a used car as is for $6700.00 and was told that the car was nothing wrong with it but within the first month 07/02/25 the car has been to 3 different shops and in the shop 5 different times all due to brake problems since I bought the car I have had to replace both front calipers and rotors brake pads wheel bearings and on the back both brake pads plus new tires and it's still not fixed the ABS traction and stability lights are on i could of caused a wreck I only drive it to the store with the money I had paid for the car putting it in a shop I shouldn't of had to do they sold me a dangerous car

I started my vehicle in the morning to let it warm up. I come back out to get myself and my son in the vehicle to go to work and take him to school. My dash upon entry had a check engine light on, and the message it displayed was "engine power reduced." I put my car into reverse, having no choice but to drive it and the traction control went out. My father in law pulled the code and it said something about the accelerator sensor. This is a known issue and recall in other models and I wanted to report it is also happening in my model.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front-end of the vehicle would lower and the front end was unstable. In addition, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. The vehicle was also consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine fan had failed and the transmission was faulty. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

there is a known issue with the shift lock release. the cable will fail in many 2006-2013 impala's. the vehicle will not get out of park. another well known issue is the blend door actuator. it is a noise that comes from the dash/heating/cooling due to chevy using cheap plastic parts.

The car can have moments of power loss where the speedometer suddenly, erratically spikes while the tachometer slightly lags. It almost stalled my vehicle while transmission was in drive while stopped. It feels like dragging when the power loss occurs. This has occurred randomly for the past month, mostly during interstate driving with cruise control operating. It has happened the last six times I have driven, but the previous several times it did not occur. It also occurred in a similar random fashion for the prior two weeks. When it does occur it feels like power drain and deceleration that can last a second and this will occur several times during a twenty minute drive at 70mph. Mechanics at two shops seem confused and don't know where to begin except for a transmission fluid flush. That was completed and the problem has persisted. There are no related error codes. To lose power suddenly and unexpectedly could cause an accident especially if a system failure shuts off the vehicle while driving. This vehicle has had an oil consumption/burning problem since I bought it with around 60,000miles. It needed 2 quarts of oil added between the last oil changes. I have spent $1400 in July of this year on gasket replacements and that did not stop the leak. More gasket heads and an oil pan are going to be need to replaced and the estimate is another $1400. This is too much to be spending on possibly related issues in a short time span that may not resolve the problem.

THE ELECTRICAL WIRES ATTACHED TO THE CONNECTOR THAT OPERATES THE SOLENOID THAT UNLOCKS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER BUTTON IN THE PARK POSITION AND THAT ALSO CONNECTS TO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND OPERATES VARIOUS FUNCTIONS SUCH AS RELEASING THE IGNITION KEY AND ALLOWS THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO BE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF ,BREAKS OFF DUE TO ELECTRICAL WIRES BEING TOO SHORT AND THE BACK AND FORTH MOVEMENT OF THE SHIFTER . CHECKING THE ONLINE BLOGS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON SEVERAL GM VEHICLES FOR SOME TIME WITHOUT ANY RECALLS DESPITE CONSTANT CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS DUE TO THE VERY POOR DESIGN. SOME DEALERS HAVE SUGGESTED LEAVING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND UNLOCKING AND LOCKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB. THIS INVITES VEHICLE THEFT AND BY NOT HAVING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY TURNED OFF, THE BATTERY RUNS DOWN AS THE ACCESSORIES AND IGNITION IS STILL TURNED ON AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINS LIGHTED. SOME CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD REPEAT REOCCURRENCES AFTER HAVING THE ISSUE REPAIRED AT A COST OF BETWEEN $500 AND $600. AFTER INSPECTING THE OPERATION OF THE SHIFTER AND THE AFFECT IT HAS ON THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE WIRING WILL FAIL AND IN THE BLOGS AS EARLY AS WHILST UNDER WARRANTEE. I WENT AND HAD IT CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST BETWEEN 500 AND 600 DOLLARS TO FIX. IN ANY EVENT I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO OWN IMPALAS AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY SISTER WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. SHE HAD TO TAKE HER CAR BACK TWICE BEFORE IT WAS REPAIRED CORRECTLY. APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER CHIP IN THESE CARS ARE DEFECTIVE. 1) AIRBAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY HAS GONE ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS. I ASKED DEALER ABOUT IT, THEY SAID IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO DIAGNOSE BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO TRACE THE WIRING HARNESS, REMOVING SEAT AND DASHBOARD. LABOR WOULD BE EXPENSIVE. I COMPLAINED TO GM ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS AND WAS GIVEN A CASE#. I WAS TOLD CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEREFORE, IT WOULD BE MY EXPENSE TO HAVE THIS DIAGNOSED AND FIXED. DEALER SAID AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. THIS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT. FALL 2013. 2) THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING LAST FALL 2013. I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 15 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SCREECHED TO AN IMMEDIATE HALT AND STALLED THE ENGINE. THE SUDDEN STOP WAS VIOLENT AND THREW ME AGAINST MY SEATBELT. I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTH AND WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL NOISE. I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT MADE LOUD GRINDING AND CLUNKING SOUNDS. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT STILL IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND AGAIN MADE LOUD NOISES. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND A FRIEND CAME OVER TO HELP ME PUSH THE CAR TO A MORE SAFE AREA, BUT STILL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. APPARENTLY THE DRIVETRAIN WAS LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE, NO MATTER WHAT GEAR POSITION THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN. THE CAR WAS LATER DRAGGED ON TO A FLATBED TRUCK AND TAKEN TO MY LOCAL AUTO SERVICE CENTER, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO BE FIXED UNDER THE GM 100,000MI/5 YEAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I AM VERY SHAKEN UP BY THIS INCIDENT AND FEAR WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF THE VEHICLES FRONT WHEELS WOULD HAVE VIOLENTLY LOCKED UP LIKE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FEAR THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. I HOPE GM AND THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS INCIDENT AND FIND THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH THE GOAL OF PREVENTING THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR

THE 2010 IMPALA WAS AT HWY SPEEDS AT APPROX 65MPH. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE MESSAGE DISPLAY WAS FLASHING TRACTION CONTROL FAILURE. THE LIGHTS STAYED ON. IT ALSO SAID ENGINE AT REDUCED SPEEDS . THE TRACTION CONTROL FAILED AT HWY SPEEDS WHICH LEFT ME COASTING TO REDUCED SPEEDS AND THEN THE CAR SHUT OFF AT 20 MPH WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKING. I HAD A BLOW OUT ON A FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. WENT TO RAISE CAR ON FLAT LEVEL SURFACE. I USED THE CAR JACK FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BUYING THE CAR TWO YEARS AGO. THE JACK FAILED TO STAY UNDER THE FRAME RAIL RIDGE. ITS WAS HALF WAY UP AND THE CAR BENT THE FRAME OF THE JACK AND THE THREADED ROD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS NEAR THE CAR IT JUST ROLL FORWARD AND CRUSHED THE JACK. I WAS UNABLE TO STRAIGHTEN AND FIX THE JACK. BAD METAL OR FRAME WAS NOT QA CORRECTLY. I HAD A POLICE OFFICER USE THE SAME JACK ON HIS SQUAD CAR DIFFERENT YEAR IMPALA AND IT WORKED FINE. I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO REPORT THE JACK FAILURE AND GET A REPLACEMENT JACK FROM THE CHEVORLET COMPANY. DO NOT WANT TO GO TO A DEALER OR SERVICE CENTER. I HAD PURCHASED A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA IN JULY, 2010. THE FIRST ATTEMPT AT REPAIR OF THE FRONT END VIBRATION WAS ON 10/22/2010. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE TIRES WERE ROTATED ON 01/26/11 IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 03/18/11 FOR FRONT END NOISE (THUMP) WHILE TURNING THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 07/07/11 FOR THE THUMPING NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHILE TURNING THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 07/28/11 FOR A FRONT END THUMPING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 08/16/11 FOR A FRONT END THUMPING NOISE AND THE DEALERSHIP NOTICES THE TIRES WERE WEARING SLIGHTLY CUPPED ON THE INSIDE EDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 09/08/11 FOR A WHINING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE BAY AND POWER STEERING FLUID WAS FLUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 04/09/12 FOR FRONT END THUMPING NOISE, WHEEL BEARING, TRANSMISSION SURGE, AND WHINE NOISE FROM RADIO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 06/27/12 FOR ROUGH IDLE, TIRE REPLACEMENT, TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 07/27/12 FOR ROUGH IDLE, TRANSMISSION SURGE, THUMP NOISE IN FRONT END AND WHINE NOISE IN RADIO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN ON 10/05/12 FOR TRANSMISSION SURGE, ROUGH IDLE, THUMP NOISE IN FRONT END, AND WHINE NOISE IN RADIO. THE OUTCOME AT THIS POINT IS THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO REPROGRAM THE VEHICLE, GM APPROVED REPLACEMENT OF ALL FOUR TIRES, A REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP, WHEEL BEARING ON DRIVER FRONT SIDE. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE DONE TWO THROTTLE BODY CLEANINGS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS STATED THEY WILL REPLACE THE ROTORS BUT GM WOULD NOT APPROVE REPLACEMENT ONLY TURNING ON THE ROTORS. THIS CASE HAS BEEN OPENED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WHOM ADVISED ME TO CONTACT NHTSA. GM REFUSES TO REPLACE PARTS BECAUSE THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM CANNOT TELL THEM WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. GM HAS RECALLED THE POLICE VEHICLES FOR FRONT END SUSPENSION AND HAS A LAWSUIT PENDING IN MICHIGAN FOR PERSONAL VEHICLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE BELIEVED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL WERE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND SHE DEPRESSED THEM BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
