Evaporator Core failed. My safety isn't at risk although I get very hot riding in the car without AC. It was confirmed by a dealer. It has not been inspected by police or anyone else other than a dealer. No warning lamps or messages. My 2017 Chevrolet Impala has been without Air Conditioning since approximately June 2020. I took it to a local Chevrolet dealer and they diagnosed it stating the Evaporator core had failed. After doing research online, I found a Special Coverage Adjustment N182186881 on nhtsa.gov stating that on some 2016-2018 model-year cars, the evaporator core may become damaged and the customer is eligible for it to be replaced at no charge. I never received this paper in the mail saying mine was affected but mine was affected. Due to me having no copy of this, no dealer will fix it free of charge. I am not just looking for a free repair, I am looking for it to be repaired for free specifically due to the fact it has been affected. There is less than 72,000 miles on my vehicle.

The exhaust manifold cracked, took to shop to see if can weld and was told it is connected to the Cadillac converter. This was putting MAJOY exhaust fumes into car. making myself and children sick. at the shop they said this is VERY COMMON and he is not sure WHY no recall has been placed on this and why they wont fix. In the process of saving to get this fix the car rode rough, stalled, exhaust fumes and sensor's went. I replaced and I am now HAVING this issue AGAIN. Chevrolet needs to get this fixed and a recall should be done. Had this car just for a year and I SWEAR once warrenty went EVERYTHING this

Mechanic confirmed Evaporator Core leak, which is leaking Freon faster than can be put in. Leaking Freon is a safety concern, as well as the resultant lack of Air Conditioning. The car becomes very hot inside, and the Air Conditioning does not blow any cold air, creating potential for overheating, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, etc. in addition to general discomfort.

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction regarding a recurring issue with my vehicle’s catalytic converter pipe. At 37,000 miles, the left-hand (front bank) catalytic converter pipe near the cylinder head mounting flange weld failed and was replaced under warranty by GM. Now, at just 88,000 miles, the same pipe has cracked again—at the identical location—and is not being covered by GM, forcing us to pay for repairs out of pocket. This is not simply a case of wear and tear. The failure not only resulted in significant performance issues, but also caused the housing of the fan to melt due to excessive heat exposure, posing a serious safety hazard. This repeated failure clearly indicates a design or manufacturing defect, and I’m appalled that GM has not acknowledged this as a broader issue—despite evidence suggesting this is a known and frequent problem with this vehicle model. In my view, the failure of the same part in the same location twice, within a relatively low mileage span, reflects an unacceptable lack of quality control. It is deeply disappointing that GM has not issued a recall or offered to cover this repair, which is demonstrably caused by the same flaw as before. This situation feels less like responsible customer support and more like an attempt to profit from known issues, leaving loyal customers to shoulder the financial burden. I am requesting immediate reassessment of this case, full coverage for this second repair, and a formal acknowledgment of this defect. I also encourage GM to investigate this issue further and consider issuing a recall to prevent others from experiencing similar damage and expenses.

2017 Chevy Impala 3.6L engine exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold / turbo charger. Resulting in exhaust fumes leaking driver/passenger area could cause fire and or damage to engine. Checking on the customer review and complaints page on the internet I have a lot of other complaints even to the point one persons wife developed lung cancer possible related to inhaling the exhaust according to her doctor. Who knows but I had a hard time getting my car to pass NC inspection because of the lake, please advise. As I am hard of hearing and didn't know I had this problem until the local NC Inspection station pointed it out all I knew was I could smell it or something. PS the email is that of my local mechanic, as I don't have one or how to even turn a computer on.

Upon after starting the car a noise was coming from front of engine. I took a video and saw fire coming from the front left catalytic converter between the flange and the converter. The converter separated itself from the flange. The car, a 2017 has only 50000 miles on it always garaged and no accidents Luckily caught the converter problem before it completely blew itself off the flange and caused a fire.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle crashed into the passenger's side door of an oncoming truck that was hidden behind a box truck and had suddenly intruded into his lane. The front end of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained neck pain, back pain, and bruises on the forearms. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

An airbag alert sounds very often, and the passenger airbag indicator shows that it is off. The vehicle has been taken to a dealer and they were not able to find the issue when running the diagnostics. The alarm continues to intermittently sound, and indicator shows the passenger airbag is off. This is of high concern that the airbag most likely will not deploy in case of impact.

I've only had my car for about 2 1/2 months, when I started to notice my car moving to the right without me moving it. I figured it needed a front-end alignment. So, I took it to a mechanic. Once he got it up on the stand, he noticed something wrong with the front suspension. He didn't do the alignment, but he told me that my "Rack and pinion" was going out. I then made and appointment with the dealership. They looked at it and told me it was my steering and that it wasn't cover under my warranty and that the part to fix it was "Nowhere in the country to be found", and if I brought the part to them. They wouldn't put it on. So now I have a car note and insurance bill on a car that I'm afraid to drive. What are people supposed to do about these cars? It would seem that It's not just a me problem.

As with your recall of braking system to Camaro, Corvette and Cadillac the same exact thing happened to my 2017 Impala. My power steering system failed due to the modular. All said and done was charged $1000 +. My warranty had just ran out. Not the mileage I only had 29,000 miles on the car but it was approximately 4 months after the 3 year warranty. That is totally unacceptable. I could have been killed. How many other complaints have you gotten for faulty power steering systems. Due to this all my warnings on the entire car lit up and a number of check engine and other warning lights came on the dash. Nothing worked and could hardly turn the steering wheel. I would like to be reimbursed the money and aggravation I was put through. I do not have the paperwork to download to you but it can be obtained at Wallace Chevrolet in Port St Lucie, Florida

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH and ascending a grade, the vehicle lost forward momentum. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle revved but failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that she shifted the vehicle into reverse (R) and drove back down the hill. The contact stated that the transmission failure was intermittent at first but had gradually become a recurring failure. The contact stated that at the first failure there were no warning lights; however, in the later failures the transmission overheated warning light would become illuminated. The contact stated that prior to the failure the transmission had begun to jerk and hesitate. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The Transmission failed, yes it is available for inspection upon request The car was jerking extremely hard from 1st to second gear. Doing damage to my back. The car has been confirmed by a dealership. The vehicle is set to be inspected by the manufacturer on 10-16-2023 There was leaking from the transmission coolant lines. 01-31-2023

A/C Was blowing warm air. Took vehicle to service center for repair. Air compressor was replaced. After 2 days of driving a total of 40 miles, warm air continued to blow. Returned to service center only to find an Evaporator core failure. GM issued a bulletin N182186881 regarding this repair and they advised to file this complaint.

ON NOVEMBER 17TH AND 20TH OF 2018 WHILE AT MALL PARKING LOT AND AT DRUG STORE AS I PROCEED TO LEAVE MY CAR'S BATTERY HAD COMPLETELY DRAINED IT'S POWER. NO LIGHTS OR DOORS WERE LEFT ON AND I HAD TO GET AAA TO BOOST ME ON THOSE TWO OCCASIONS. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THEY SIMPLY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR LOCATE THE PROBLEM AFTER KEEPING THE CAR FOR A DAY. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW SEPTEMBER 2017 AND HAS LESS THAN 12,000 MILES AS OF TODAY. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DOJUST KEEP GOING AS IF NO PROBLEM EXIST? I have had this car for a few years and the evaporator core has failed, the car will blow air but it is very VERY hot air. The faulty evaporator core is a direct result of GM using cheaply made parts not inspected to the standard prior to installation into the vehicle. having previously owned this car in Hawaii and still owning it in a hot climate, the interior temperature exceeds well over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This presents a serious safety hazard due to the potential for heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat cramps which can effect the ability of the driver to control the vehicle appropriately. Children in the back seat, the elderly and even competent adults ARE AT RISK. NO ONE should be expected to pay to repair a safety hazard that GM has known about and ignored other than a bulletin the left many owners without a repair. This issue is clearly a serious safety concern and should be handled appropriately by GM.

Vehicle was driving and operating as normal. I Drove to shopping center, was in store for an hour and came out to a car full of smoke when door opened. There appeared to be a fire that had started and stopped originating from the drivers side door panel.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, she noticed that the A/C feature was not functioning properly. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed a leakage coming from the A/C evaporator and the compressor. The contact stated that the instrument panel needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the steering wheel while turning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was contacted and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

THE HMI MODULE HAS GONE OUT.THIS AFFECTS THE REAR VIEW CAMERA AND THE ENTIRE DISPLAY. SECONDLY, SINCE THEN THE POWER STEERING HAS ALSO GONE OUT ON THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION!! IT WENT OUT SUDDENLY. BRAND NEW BATTERY STILL NOT RESOLVED. THESE PROBLEMS ARE BOTH ELECTRICAL AND SEEM TO BE NOW COMMON PROBLEMS. GM SHOULD ISSUE RECALL AS THIS CAN CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENT AND LOSS OF LIFE. THE ABSENCE OF REAR CAMERA MAKES VEHICLE OUT OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAWS STATING THAT ALL LATER MODELS SHOULD HAVE CAMERA. THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS. IT IS SIMPLY A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DESIGN. THESE PROBLEMS COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX AND USUALLY DON'T MALFUNCTION TILL AFTER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED.

THE BOTH REAR SEAT CROSSBODY SEATBELTS CLINK THE WAY ROLLER COASTERS DO WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE AND JUST GET STUCK AND BEGING TO TIGHTEN. THE ONLY WAY TO LOOSEN THE BELT IS TO TAKE IT COMPLETELY OFF AND LET IT WIND UP ALL THE WAY BEFORE FASTENING IT AGAIN. RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO TOOK IT IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AFTER DRIVING IT FOR SEVERAL MILES AND FILLING THE GAS TANK LOUD EXHAUST SOUND WITH AN ONSTAR DIAGNOSTIC P0151 CODE APPEARED. THINKING THERE WAS WATER IN THE LINE I PURCHASED HEAT TO REMOVE THE MOISTURE WITH NO RESULTS. I PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR FOR INSPECTION AND FOUND THE OXYGEN SENSORS LYING IN THE COOLING FANS AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER DISCONNECTED FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE PLATE WAS STILL CONNECTED WITH NEW NUTS AND BOLTS BUT THE PART LOOKED RUSTED WHICH SEEM ODD FOR A CAR THIS NEW AS A RESULT OF THE HEAT ESCAPING THE ENGINE BLOCK VIA THE OPENING THE COOLING FANS MELTED. I CHECK FOR RECALLS ON THIS MODEL AND THERE WERE NONE SHOWING VIA SEVERAL SOURCES INCLUDING THE MANUFACTURER'S WEB SITE. THE ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WELL DUE TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURES FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WILL OPERATE AND DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION SHOWING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WHAT SEEMED ODD WAS THE BOLTS WERE SHINY AND THE PLATE WAS DISCOLORED AS SEEN IN ATTACHED PHOTOS. THE WELDS WERE ALSO A CONCERN AS WELL.

IN ADDITION, THE EMISSION SYSTEM AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CREST CHEVROLET (909 W 21ST ST, SAN BERNARDINO, CA 92405, 909-713-6481) WHERE THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN VALVE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE DIVIDER AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. RENTED A 2017 CHEVY IMPALA FOR A 10 DAY 3000 MILE ROAD TRIP.I DID THE DRIVING AND MY WIFE, 5' 1", SPENT THE TRIP IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. DUE TO THE EXTREME FORWARD POSITION OF THE HEADREST AND LACK OF HEADREST ADJUSTMENT SHE WAS MISERABLE THE WHOLE TRIP. I HAD BEEN PLANING ON BUYING THAT EXACT CAR, NOT NOW. I'LL BUY A USED CAR WITH HEADRESTS THAT MAKE SENSE, THE ONES ON THE NEW CARS DON'T.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while starting the vehicle he noticed that the air conditioner was blowing hot air. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the evaporator core leaked in addition and Freon was leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the evaporator core and the A/C compressor. The contact was informed that the evaporator core and the A/C compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,548.

I continuously have water leaking into the trunk of my 2017 Chevrolet Impala, specifically the spare tire compartment. I noticed through research that the issue has been recalled for select years, but not my vehicle year. If the issue is a known defect, this should be covered by the vehicle manufacturer. I am constantly having large amounts of water after rain and it is causing a moldy smell. I try to scoop water and then dry the area, however this is a repeat issue.

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 MPH, a tractor-trailer crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle causing the vehicle to cross two lanes of traffic and collide with a barrier wall. During the crash no air bags deployed. The driver sustained injuries to the back, spine, torso, arms, knees, and shoulders which required medical treatment. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. Also, while the keys were inside the vehicle the doors had locked and the contact was unable to enter the vehicle. A locksmith was called to open the doors. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 72,000.

WARRANTY, WE STILL PAID $200+ OUT OF POCKET AND FEEL IT IRRESPONSIBLE FOR GM ELECTRONICS TO FAIL JUST 1 YEAR AFTER MODEL YEAR (AS ELECTRONICS NORMALLY SHOULD NOT RELATE TO # MILES) - SHOULD BE A FACTORY RECALL. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT CHEVROLET SENIOR SUPPORT BY PHONE TO DISCUSS SITUATION WENT UNANSWERED. DURING THE TIME THE CONSOLE WAS OUT (BUT CAR STILL DRIVE-ABLE), WE HAD REDUCED REAR VISIBILITY AND WERE MORE FEARFUL ABOUT BACKING UP, ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WITH MANY CHILDREN PRESENT.

THEN ON 6/21/2018 THERE WAS AN EXTREME SAFETY EVENT WITH RODENT DAMAGE TO SOY BASED FUEL LINE ELBOW ON TOP OF FUEL TANK THAT PUMPED OUT 8 GALLONS OF GAS ON TOP OF HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH THE POTENTIAL OF FIRE IN REAR OF CAR IN 10 MILES OF TRAVEL FROM HEBRON,IN TO LOWELL,IN. THE FUEL PUMP SHUTOFF FOR RUN AWAY FUEL PUMP NEVER DEPLOYED THUS CREATING EXTREME HAZARD THAT WAS UNDECTABLE INSIDE VEHICLE.THE FUEL LINE WAS REPAIRED BY SMITH CHEVY IN LOWELL, IN ON 6/21/2018. THE REPAIR BILLS WERE $731.50, $592.10 AND $507.17 RESPECTIVELY FOR A TOTAL OF $1830.72. CHEVY CLAIMS SOY BASED PARTS NOT DESIGN FLAW AND REFUSES WARRANTY CLAIMS AND SAFETY LIABILITY.. ALL MANUFACTURES HAVE SIMILAR SOY BASED DESIGN FLAWS AND REFUSE CLAIMS. PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND SOLVED.

POOR FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS LIGHT UP THE ROAD ONLY SHOWING THE BOTTOM 40% OF THE WINDSHIELD AND POOR LIGHTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.THE TOP 60% OF THE WINDSHIELD AS YOU LOOK FORWARD IS DARK THE HEADLIGHTS ONLY SHOW 3 POSSIBLE 4 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. AT 60 MPH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE FARTHER THAN OVER 6 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD ON LOW BEAMS NOT 3 AND NOT OVER 1/2 YOUR VISIBILITY IN THE DARK VERY UNSAFE.
