DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS HANGING DOWN UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC MADE THE REPAIR AND INFORMED THE CONTACT IF IT FELL OFF AGAIN, TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE PUSHROD CAME OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA # 93V152000, FOR THE SERVICE BRAKES: HYDRAULIC: PEDAL AND LINKAGES DUE TO THE VIN, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL.

WE HAVE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SEATBELTS ON OUR 1994 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. AFTER CLOSING THE SEATBELTS, THEY HAVE A TENDENCY TO POP OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY AND ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. The contact owns a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with two Lionhart Tires, Tire Line: LHS, Tire Size: 305/30/ZR26, DOT Number: TB2ACY50. The contact stated that he had installed two Lionhart tires on the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was a secondary vehicle that was not driven often. The contact stated that he observed a bulge on the tire, and the tire sidewall was separating from the tread next to the bulge. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 4,500 on a new installed engine. The tire failure mileage was 2,000.

I SAT DOWN ON THE DRIVERS SEAT ON 2/5/04 AND IT FELT LIKE THE SEAT WAS LOOSE. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE SEAT AND DISCOVERED THE METAL BRACKET NEAR THE LEFT FRONT BOLT OF THE THE SEAT HAD BROKEN OFF AND THE SEAT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. THIS IS DISTURBING AS THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEED IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD ANY UNUSAL USE AND HAS LESS THAN 83,000 MILES. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING QUITS/DIES/SHUTS OFF THEREBY CAUSING THE LOSE OF STEERING AND BRAKING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALR JIM STUTZMAN CHEVROLET IN WINCHESTER VIRGINIA SINCE OCTOBER OF 1999. ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE HAD THEIR MECHANIC TEST DRIVE IT AND HE HAS EXPERIANCED THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER "IT" SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THEM THAT I NEVER SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A CHEVY DIESEL AND "WHAT DO I WANT TO DO HOW MUCH MONEY DO I WANT TO SPEND AND THEY WILL JUST START CHANGE OUT PARTS " I AM IN FEAR OF MY LIFE EVERY TIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. I SPENT $350 DOLLARS JUST LAST WEEK HAVING A PART CHANGED THAT THEY "THOUGHT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM " THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS IT HAPPENED 2 HOURS AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP ON MY WAY HOME. THIS VEHICLE WEIGHS ALMOST 4000LBS. I HAVWE BEEN VERY LUCKY SO FAR. WHAT WILL AHPPEN TO ME WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND ME AND IT DIES? OR LIKE THE FIRST TIME WHEN I WAS ON A CURVEY MOUNTAINOUS ROAD AND IT DIED AND I ENDED UP IN A FIELD AND HAD TO BY SOD FOR THE LADY WHOSE LAWN I ENDED UP IN. WHAT IF HER CHILDREN HAD BEEN PLAYING IN THE YARD OR I WAS APPROCHING A SCHOOLCROSSING? HE TURNED OFF THE HEATER AND OPENED THE WINDOWS. THEY STOPPED A T A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE ODOR, AND THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS A DESIGN DEFECT OF HVAC SYSTEM. THE AC EVAPORATOR CORE DID NOT ALLOW WATER TO DISSIPATE/EVAPORATE AND MICROBIAL GROWTH COULD OCCUR WITHIN 24 TO 48 HOURS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECT MADE HIS ENTIRE FAMILY SICK. *JB

WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK THAN STOP. I WIGGLE WIRE CONNECTOR TO MOTOR THAN THEY WILL WORK FOR A SHORT PERIOD. IF I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THEY WILL STOP WORKING AND SOMETIMES START WORKING AGAIN. I FOUND OUT THAT 1994 SUBURBAN 4X4 ARE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THE CARD THAT HAS A FAULTY SOLDER. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED MY DRIVERS SIDE CALIPER 4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2003. I ALSO REPLACED THE BRAKE HOSE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CALIPERS SEEMED TO GET STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. *JB

I HAVE HAD TWO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE: 1. WINDSHEILD WIPER INTERMITTENT FAILURE. THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED. I WAS INFORMED BY A CHEVROLET DEALER THAT THE RECALL(S) ISSUED THAT MATCH THIS BEHAVIOR EXACTLY DO NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE MY 1994 CHEV. SUBURBAN C-1500 VEHICLE, AS IT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THIS EXACT INTERMITTENT BEHAVIOR. BEYOND INQUIRING RECENTLY WITH MY LOCAL DEALER, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. 2. POOR ABS BRAKE PERFORMANCE. THIS SYMPTOM HAS EXISTED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND AT THE TIME OF COMPLAINTS AT THE DEALERSHIP. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYMPTOM, BUT I HAVE NOT YET INQUIRED WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THE ISSUE CAN BE CORRECTED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL "NEAR MISSES" WHEN HAVING TO STOP SUDDENLY AND ALMOST HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME DUE TO POOR ABS PERFORMANCE AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE.*AK

MY WIFE PLACED K2500 SUBURBAN IN PARK IN GARAGE. REMOVED 9 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER FROM CAR SEAT, OPENED FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR AND STEPPED FROM TRUCK. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD NOISE AND BEGAN BACKING OUT OF LEVEL GARAGE, DRAGGING THEM TO DRIVEWAY. THEY GOT CLEAR OF TRUCK AND IT WENT DOWN STEEP DRIVEWAY ACROSS ALLEY AND UP NIEGHBOR'S STEEP DRIVEWAY THROUGH BRICK TRASH STRUCTURE AND INTO NEIGHBORS HOUSE. AT TIME OF RECOVERY ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER IT JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR WAS NEVER FULLY IN PARK TO BEGIN WITH, HOWEVER THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT TIME BETWEEN VEHICLE BEING PLACED IN PARK AND BEGINNING OR ROLL BACKWARDS. IN ADDITION, AT TIME IT BEGAN TO ROLL, NO ONE WAS IN THE TRUCK AS MY WIFE WAS STANDING NEXT TO IT, AND WAS CAUGHT BY THE OPEN DRIVER'S DOOR. HER RIGHT LEG WAS CAUGHT BY DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE AFTER BEING KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. *AK

The contact owns a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph and applying the brake pedal to stop the pedal suddenly extended to the floor causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified. The failure mileage was 274,000.

CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AS PER RECALL 95I005, WHEN VEHICLE WAS RETURNED IT WAS WORSE. CONSUMER INSTALLED A VACUUM PUMP WHICH WAS NEEDED BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER TOOK IT BACK AND WAS TOLD A LIFT PUMP WAS NEEDED AND THEY GUARANTEED THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. IT WASN'T. NOW THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JG

THIS SWITCH FAILED WHILE PARKED, THANK GOODNESS. A BURNING ODOR BECAME OVERWHELMING WHILE PUTTING ON SEATBELTS TO DRIVE AWAY. IT WAS NIGHT, SO I COULD NOT TELL FOR SURE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. MY NEXT INSTINCT WAS TO TURN THE CAR OFF IN HOPES OF PREVENTING FURTHER DAMAGE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE DOME LIGHT SWITCH WAS MELTED TO THE POINT THAT THE SWITCH, BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WERE DESTROYED. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES ON THIS VEHICLE FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, ONE FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, AND ONE FOR THE WIPER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE ENTIRE WIRING SYSTEM IS SUSPECT IN THIS VEHICLE. WITH ONLY 48,000 MILES WE NOW HAVE THREE SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. OBVIOUSLY PER MY REPORT, THERE WERE NO INJURIES CAUSED BY THE SWITCH BURNING UP. HOWEVER, HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME THAT THE SWITCH MELTED, SHE VERY WELL MAY HAVE ENDED UP WITH A DASH BOARD FIRE ON THE ROAD WITH 5 CHILREN. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN UNDERSTANDING THE FREQUENCY OF THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT WITH OTHER SUBURBANS AS WELL AS ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES. AS AN ENGINEER IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, I KNOW DARN WELL THAT THET THERE IS NO SUCH THINK AS A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE ON ANY TYPE OF FAILURE AND THIS VEHICLE IS PROVING TO BE A LOSER WHEN IT COMES TO WIRING AND SWITCHES.
