DRIVING DOWN A HILL ON MY STREET THE BRAKES GAVE WAY. I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE SERVICE STATION INDICATED THE REAR BRAKE LINES FAILED DUE TO RUSTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE TWO REAR BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AS WELL AS A FROZEN CALIPER. UPDATED 08/27/14

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REDUCE SPEED. THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLY CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY; HOWEVER THERE WERE EXTERIOR DAMAGES TO THE BUILDING. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FOUR BRAKE LINES AND GEAR SHIFTER CABLE WERE REPLACED. ALSO, THE ABS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK). THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE ABS HAD BEEN REPLACED A TOTAL OF SEVEN TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN 2006 WHEN ISSUE FIRST SURFACED, ONE WEEK PRIOR TO RECALL, CHEVROLET DEALER QUOTED A PRICE OVER $800.00 TO REPLACE HUBS. THEN WHEN RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED, THEY SAID THE HUBS COULD BE CLEANED. IN NOVEMBER 2011 SENSORS FAILED AGAIN AND HUBS (HOUSING SENSORS) WERE REPLACED. THE RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS NOT EFFECTIVE. *TR

VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER RECALL BELOW ON 1/26/2006. ABS SENSOR WAS INSPECTED AND CLEANED, BUT NOT REPLACED. DEFECT COVERED IN RECALL IS NOW BEING DISPLAYED BY VEHICLE (BRAKING DISTANCE IS EXTENDED AT LOW SPEED - CAUSED BY ABS SENSOR MALFUNCTION). VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT DRIVEABLE. THIS CONCERN HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES THERE IS A LOUD NOISE AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP RIGHT AWAY BUT CONTINUES TO MOVE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE ABS MODULE IS GOING AND THE PRICE TO FIX IT WAS ABSORBENT. SINCE MY LAST MAJOR REPAIR WHICH WAS JULY 2010 WHEN MY RADIATOR AND TIMING BELT HAD MALFUNCTION, WHICH I PAID $653.34 FOR REPAIRS, THE SURBURBAN BEGAN TO STALL AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS 10/04/2011. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL EACH TIME THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED, THEN IT WOULD STALL COMPLETELY AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES. NOW, THE 2001 SUBURBAN 1500 VEHICLE OF MINE WOULD HAVE A FUEL LEAKAGE AND THE ENGINE STALLS WITH NO RESTART. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AFTER MY OIL CHANGE THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AS WE WERE LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, BUT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TOLD IT WAS DUE TO THE RECENT OIL CHANGE. NOW THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST WITH NO RESTART AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID TO BRING IT BACK WITH A $90 FEE TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE WHICH THEY BELIEVE ITS THE FUEL PUMP. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD'VE BEEN OBSERVED THE DAY OF THE OIL CHANGE WHEN WE INITIALLY OBSERVE THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS EACH TIME WE HAVE THE VEHICLE OIL CHANGE A PROBLEM OCCUR THE SAME DAY, INWHICH ITS COSTLY TO US. The ABS and Brake lights illuminate as per GM recall 05v379000. This occurs each time the vehicle is driven. I purchased this vehicle on 12/6/2023 from Kyle's Kars which is a used car dealership in Slatington, PA. A warranty was not offered due to the age, however I did purchase a warranty from Car Shield. This repair would not fall under the warranty guidelines.

this vehicle has a non-functioning parking brake. There was a recall in 2004 for 880,000 trucks and suv's. I have taken it to my garage twice but they cannot fix this problem because it is not fixable

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING BEHIND HIS FATHER'S VEHICLE, THEY HAD APPROACHED A STOP AND ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS HIS FOOT WAS ON THE PEDAL, THE CONTACT COULD HEAR THE ABS MAKING AN ABNORMAL NOISE AS THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HIT THE BACK OF HIS FATHER'S VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. DUE TO THE LOW IMPACT OF THE CRASH, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT WHEN THE STEEL REAR BRAKE LINE SPONTANEOUSLY SPLIT AND DUMPED ALL LINE PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, AND I ROLLED RIGHT INTO TRAFFIC BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE PEDAL ENOUGH TIMES TO STOP THE VEHICLE AGAINST A CURB. HAD I NEARED THE STOP SIGN 2 SECONDS EARLIER OR LATER, I WOULD HAVE EITHER BEEN T-BONED BY A BOX TRUCK, OR T-BONED A SMALL SEDAN. I EMPHASIZE THAT THE BRAKE LINES SHOWED NO WARNING SIGNS BEYOND THE TYPICAL SURFACE RUST THAT CAN BE FOUND ON ANY VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN A FEW WINTERS IN THE "RUST BELT". HOWEVER, THOSE VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE BRAKE LINES SPONTANEOUSLY FAIL AT THE RATE THAT THESE GM TRUCKS DO. THIS TRUCK'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TOWING A CAMPING TRAILER FOR VACATIONS WITH MY YOUNG FAMILY, SO THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY DIFFERENTLY. I URGE YOU TO TAKE GM TO TASK AND FORCE THEM TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE OF CHEAPING OUT ON BRAKE LINE MATERIALS!

I OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500 2WD 5.3L V8 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW AND FROM DAY ONE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE IN HOLDING THE VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED. A CURSORY CHECK ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD AND VERY WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM FOR OWNERS OF SIMILAR GM VEHICLES. VISITS TO TWO SEPARATE GM DEALERSHIPS IN DALLAS CONFIRM THAT THE DEALERS KNOW OF THIS AS A WIDESPREAD AND WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM AS WELL. ODDLY, THE NHTSA HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW THIS VEHICLE SAFETY DEFECT AT THE REQUEST OF THE NORTH CAROLINA CONSUMER COUNCIL BACK IN 2005, YET THE NHTSA DECIDED AT THE TIME THAT THIS DEFECT DID NOT WARRANT A SAFETY RECALL. THE SUMMARY CONCLUDES THAT FOR AUTO-TRANSMISSION-EQUIPPED VEHICLES, THE PRESENCE OF A "PARK PAWL" SERVES AS SUFFICIENT HOLDING POWER FOR THESE VEHICLES AND THEREFORE THE APPEAL FOR A SAFETY RECALL WAS DENIED. THERE IS AT LEAST ONE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS CONCLUSION -- NO STATE IS GOING TO ALLOW A VEHICLE WITHOUT A WORKING PARKING BRAKE TO PASS A STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. I PURCHASED A SET OF SIGMA STAMPEDE TIRES IN 2-2007. 3 OF THE 4 TIRES PURCHASED HAD SIDE WAL BLOW OUTS. I TOOK THE TIRES TO WHERE I BOUGHT THEM AND THE OWNER SAID IT LOOKED AS THOUGH THERE COULD BE A DEFECT. I CONTACTED TBC CORP. ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS TIRE HAD BEEN RECALLED BUT THE SET I HAD WAS THE WRONG DOT #. I THEN TOLD THEM 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES THAT HAD NO TREAD DAMAGE THAT BLOW OUT THE SIDE WALL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT I WAS TOLD TO GET MY RECEIPT AND FAX IT TO THEM AND THEY WOULD MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT ON 2 OF THE TIRES THIS WAS DONE 2 WEEKS AGO AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM . THE FIRST TIRE BLEW OUT 11-2008, AND I REPLACED IT . THE SECOND ON 4- 2009AND THE THIRD ON 7-12-2009. THEY SAID THAT I WOULD NEED ALL THE BAD TIRES FOR THEM TO LOOK AT , BUT ALL BUT 1 CANNOT BE RECOVERED THEY HAD ME TAKE THE REMAINING TIRE 34 MILES FROM MY HOME TO ONE OF THEIR DISTRIBUTORS TO LOOK AT ,WHEN I WENT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT . I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY SUBURBAN THAT COMPLETELY STALLED OUT, (SEPT 29,2011) WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO TRANSPORT MY FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. PLEASE NOTE, THAT I'M IN AN AREA THAT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. THIS MEANS THAT WHEN MY CAR IS DOWN, I'M AT THE MERCY OF FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WHICH IS QUITE AN INCONVENIENCE. I HIRED A SERVICE GUY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND HE SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRANKSHAFT. WHILE ORDERING THE PART, HE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE PART WAS ON A RECALL LIST. I CHECKED THE WEBSITE NHTSA.GOV TO VERIFY AND THE RECALL #07V521000 DID EXIST. I CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER (NASH CHEVROLET) IN SNELLVILLE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN# WAS NOT IN THE BATCH AND IF THEY SERVICED IT, THE COST WOULD BE $2500. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY PROBLEM COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO WEAR AND TEAR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY POSSIBILITY TO GET THE DEALER TO REPAIR MY CAR AND IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO HAVE THE INVESTIGATION REOPENED AND THE SCOPE ADJUSTED TO INCLUDE ALL 2001 SUBURBANS THAT ARE NONCONFORMING. I HAVE A 2001 1500 CHEVY SUBURBAN THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW. IT WAS 109,000 MILES ON IT. MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING AT 50,000 MILES. WE FOUGHT WITH DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER AND HAD THEM REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. WELL GUESS WHAT? I HAVE APPR. 59,000 ON THIS TRANSMISSION AND IT JUST WENT OUT ON US ON OUR THANKSGIVING TRIP. WE WERE 4 HRS. FROM HOME WHEN IT STARTED GOING OUT. WHEN WE WERE 3 HRS. FROM HOME WE LOST 3RD GEAR AND DROVE IN 2ND AT 40 MILES PER HR. STOPPING SEVERAL TIMES ALONG THE WAY TO LET IT COOL DOWN. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION, I LIFTED MY CUSHION AND SAW THAT THE SEAT HAD A BURNED HOLE THROUGH THE LEATHER AND INTO MY SEAT CUSHION. IT WAS WARM, BUT I DID NOT SEE A FLAME. WHEN I GOT HOME IN THE BAY AREA, I CONTACTED GM, AND THEY OPENED A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DEALER, AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE. I RECEIVED A CALL YESTERDAY FROM THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP., AND SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE COVERING THIS AS MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, IN SO MANY WORDS. I ASKED WHAT THE DEALER HAD FOUND, AND SHE COULDN'T TELL ME. I REITERATED TO HER THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. TRUCK STARTED AFTER 4 ATTEMPTS AND WORKED FINE FOR 2 MORE DAYS. IT THEN DIED 2 MORE TIMES IN ONE DAY WITHOUT WARNING. IT AGAIN STARTED FINE AFTER 4 TO 5 ATTEMPTS. THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND THERE WAS A RECALL OF OTHER 2001 MODELS WITH THE 8.1L BUT IT DID NOT INCLUDE MY SEQUENCE. THIS PART IS FAULTY AND PUT MY WIFE'S LIFE IN DANGER. I WAS TAKING MY SUBURBAN IN FOR IT'S ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS NOTIFIED BY MY MECHANIC THAT ONE OF THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LINES (EXITING THE ABS PUMP) WAS LEAKING AND THAT ALL FIVE OF THE PRIMARY BRAKE LINES ARE EXTERNALLY RUSTED AND NEAR BREAKING. ALL FIVE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED RESULTING IN VERY COSTLY REPAIRS. I HAVE SIX CHILDREN AND WE REGULARLY TRAVEL AS A FAMILY. ON TUESDAY, JULY 19TH, I HAD 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN SERVICED AT A LOCAL SHOP, WHERE I RECEIVED MY MANUFACTURER'S SUGGESTED 60K MAINTAINENCE, WHICH INCLUDED AN INSPECTION OF ALL MY PRIMARY SYSTEMS, INCLUDING BRAKE. NO PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED. ON FRIDAY, JULY 22, 2005, I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 3:45PM. AS I APPROACHED MY DRIVEWAY FROM THE STREET, I BEGAN BRAKING WITH THE INTENTION OF PARKING IN THE DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE; HOWEVER, RATHER THAN SIMPLY SLOWING DOWN, MY BRAKES INSTEAD MADE A STRANGE VIBRATION (SOUND AND MOVEMENT), AND THE BRAKES APPEARED TO MALFUNCTION. I ATTEMPTED TO PUMP MY BRAKES, BUT THE "VIBRATIONS" CONTINUED AND MY TRUCK SEEMED TO "SLIDE", EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOW PRESSING ON MY BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL MY MIGHT. MY TRUCK OVERSHOT MY DRIVEWAY PARKING SPOT, AND CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE DOOR. THE VEHICLE DESTROYED THE GARAGE DOOR, AND THERE WAS FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY BUMPER, HOOD, GRILL AND WINDSHIELD. THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS, MY NEIGHBOR AND I INSPECTED THE BRAKE FLIUD, MASTER CYLINDER AND VISIBLE SYSTEMS, WHICH APPEARED INTACT, AND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD, WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENCE. HOWEVER, I DID NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER, WHEN I DROVE ON SUNDAY, JULY 24TH, AT WHICH TIME THE BRAKE "VIBRATIONS" RE-OCCURRED AS I PULLED INTO A TURN LANE INTO A SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER THEIR BRAKE INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH WOULD BE AT NO COST BECAUSE IT WAS "UNDER WARRENTY", AND THAT THEY ALSO WANTED TO REPLACE MY REAR ROTORS, AT A COST OF OVER $800. WHEN I ASKED CAROL, THE SERVICE REP, IF THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR COULD HAVE CASUED MY BRAKE MALFUNCTION, SHE SAID POSSIBLY, BUT NO DEFINATELY. WHEN I ASKED IF THE REAR ROTORS COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED, SHE SAID NO. NO OTHER BRAKING PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED. LUCKILY WE WERE GOING DOWN A HILL AND NO OTHER CARS NEARBY, SO WE COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. CAR WOULD NOT CRANK - IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID A FUSE WAS BLOWN WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY THE FUSE WAS BLOWN. THEY GAVE US SEVERAL EXTRA FUSES IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM VACATION, SO WE TOOK THE EXTRA FUSES AND FINISHED THE TRIP HOME. A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK. WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER, WHO FOUND THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CAUSING THE FUSE TO BLOW. WE HAD TO PAY OVER $800 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. WE ARE HOPING THAT GM WILL RE-IMBURSE US, SINCE THIS SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE RECALL. THEY SAY THAT EVEN THOUGH WE'VE HAD TO PAY FOR THE PROBLEM, WE CANNOT FILE ANY PAPERWORK UNTIL NOVEMBER. SO IT'LL BE AT LEAST UNTIL THEN BEFORE WE GET ANY MONEY BACK, IF AT ALL. IN THE MEANTIME, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE NEW FUEL PUMP IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE SAME PROBLEM.

I HAD MY CHEV. SUBURBAN 1500, YR. 2001 IN FOR THE 60,000 MI. SERVICE AND A NEW FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS. I HAD PROBLEMS RIGHT AWAY WITH FUEL BEING BELOW 1/4 TANK. IT WAS STALLING OUT. NO LOW ON FUEL LIGHT CAME ON, BUT THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT DID. THAT WAS AT 1/8 OF A TANK. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO RUN OUT OF GAS. I REPORTED IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE OIL CAN HENREY'S WERE THE SERVICE WAS PREFORMED. THEY MANAGER GAVE ME A FUEL ADDITIVE. DIDN'T WORK. IF I GOT TO 1/4 TANK IT WOULD DO THE SAME THING. IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME THAT I HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AT THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE FILTER AND SIAD IT WAS A DEFECT. THE PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT, IT HAS BEEN 7 MONTHS, 2 FUEL FILTERS, 2 SENSORS, AND I STILL HAVE A PROBLEM. I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN, AND I TOOK IN THE RECALL SHEET THAT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION ON MY MAKE AND MODEL. AND ALSO THE LAST TIME I WAS NOT ABLE TO FILL MY WHOLE TANK. PLEASE TAKE NOTE - THE VEHICLE WOULD STILL RUN WITH THE FUEL TANK LEAKING SIGNIFICANTLY. NO ERROR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED IN THE VEHICLE MESSAGE DISPLAY. NO FIRE OCCURRED, BUT WITH CLOSE PROXIMITY TO EXHAUST SYSTEM, RISK FOR FIRE WOULD APPEAR TO BE EXTREME. DELIVERED VEHICLE TO DEALER TO INSPECT. UPON PRESSURE TEST, DEALER FOUND LEAK AT TOP OF TANK IN PASS-THROUGH CONNECTOR. LEAK WAS OCCURRING BECAUSE WIRE INSIDE TANK (FUEL PUMP LEAD) MELTED, AND CREATED HOLE IN PASS THROUGH CONNECTOR. ENTIRE INTERNAL TANK FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LEVEL SENDER ASSEMBLY REPLACED. DEALER TECHNICIAN REPORTED HE HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE, BUT USUALLY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RUN, OR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BE DISPLAYED. THIS VEHICLE WOULD RUN, AND DID NOT DISPLAY ANY MESSAGE IN THE VEHICLE MESSAGE DISPLAY. DEALER WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A RECALL IN THEIR SYSTEMS OR SUPPORT A SAFETY ISSUE SEARCH. WHEN VEHICLE IS IDLING WHILE NOT MOVING EXTREME AMOUNTS OF EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE CABIN AREA THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS IS DUE TO DEFECTIVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS WHICH ARE BREAKING ALLOWING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO OPEN AND ALLOW FUMES TO ENTER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHICH RESULTS IN THE EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN AREA THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS IS A HEALTH ISSUE FOR PASSENGERS INSIDE THE CABIN BREATHING THE TOXIC EXHAUST FUMES. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ON GM TO FIX THE PROBLEM DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN AND FOR USING POOR QUALITY COMPONENTS WHICH FAIL FOR NO REASON. ALSO THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR PASSENGERS INSIDE THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAVE TO BREATH THE DANGEROUS EXHAUST FUMES. GM SHOULD BE MADE TO REPAIR ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM WHICH WERE DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED WITH INFERIOR PARTS WHICH ARE CAUSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ACROSS THIS COUNTRY.

THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN HOT AND COLD WEATHER, AND OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, NEIGHBORHOOD SPEEDS, AND SLOWING TO STOP SPEEDS. I CALL THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND THEY TELL ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS, WHICH HAS BEEN DONE MULTIPLE TIMES. THE LAST DEALER PERFORMED COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. MEANWHILE, I READ MANY ARTICLES AND POSTINGS ABOUT OTHER SUBURBANS EXHIBITING THE SAME BEHAVIOR- STALLING AND NOT STARTING. AND MEANWHILE, I GET TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT PUTS MY FAMILY IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES, ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS CAUSED BY THIS BEHAVIOR, YET, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE RIDING IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD STALL AT ANY TIME, WITH LIMITED CONTROL OF BRAKING AND STEERING. AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, WE BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR SEEMED TO BE MALFUNCTIONING, AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY SERVICE. ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, A PASSENGER DOOR WAS DISCOVERED AJAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING, BUT THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATOR IN THE DASH TO ALERT THIS TO THE DRIVER. THE COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEM IN THE DASH WILL INDICATE IF THE REAR CARGO DOOR IS AJAR, BUT NOT ANY OF THE PASSENGER DOORS, FRONT, REAR OR DRIVER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME TODAY THAT THERE IS NO SUCH INDICATOR DESIGNED FOR THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED CHEVROLET DIRECTLY AND WAS INFORMED THAT I "SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED THIS 'OPTION' BEFORE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE." THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED TO ME THAT THERE IS NO "OPTION" FOR A DOOR AJAR INDICATOR; IN FACT, IT ISN'T EVEN AVAILABLE ON THIS YEAR'S 2002 MODEL, EITHER. I HONESTLY FEAR FOR THE LIVES OF MY 4 CHILDREN, WHO RIDE IN THE BACK SEATS OF THIS VEHICLE EVERY DAY. CALLED LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, INQUIRED ABOUT RECALL, WAS TOLD THAT RECALL WAS ONLY ON HALF-TON SUBURBANS AND SINCE MINE IS 3/4 TON, IT WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL. I REPLACED FUEL MODULE MYSELF AND DISCOVERED THE COVERING OF THE WIRES INSIDE THE FUEL MODULE ASSEMBLY HAD MELTED, ALLOWING THE BARE WIRES TO RUB AGAINST EACH OTHER, SHORTING OUT THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM (WHICH LIKELY CAUSED THE BLOWN FUSE TO BEGIN WITH). I AM VERY UPSET THAT MY SUBURBAN IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT IS VIRTUALLY THE SAME SYSTEM AS WHAT IS IN THE THE 1/2 TON SUBURBANS, AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS (AS EVIDENCED BY NOT ONLY MY OWN EXPERIENCE, BUT MANY OTHERS' EXPERIENCES AS WELL). AFTER TOWING OUR TRAVEL TRAILER 60 MILES, MY WIFE WAS BACKING SUBURBAN INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PULLED FORWARD TO ADJUST THE TRAILER ANGLE AND LOST ALL STEERING. WHEN I WENT TO SEE WHAT IT WAS DOING, NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE ALSO VERY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. WAS ABLE TO BACK THE TRAILER INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITH MUCH EFFORT TO ADJUST THE STEERING. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPART FROM PICKING UP OUT TRAVEL TRAILER, BOTH THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT ON OUR 2500 4 WHEEL DRIVE SUBURBAN. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THE SUBURBAN WAS THE TRAILER'S BRAKES. LUCKLY WE WERE STILL IN THE PARKING LOT AND THEREFORE GOING SLOW. UPON EXAIMINATION, I PULLED THE SURPINETINE BELT OFF AND THE POWER STEERING PULLY AND SHAFT CAME OFF. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES ARE CONNECTED. ON 6/11/2003 THE VEHICLE AGAIN SHOWED INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING. THE BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO PULSATE, AND A HIGH-PITCHED WHINE COULD BE HEARD WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCES PROBLEMS WHEN BRAKING OVER ROUGH ROAD, SUCH AS RUMBLE STRIPS. AS THIS IS A THIRD PROBLEM WITH THESE CRITICAL COMPONENTS, THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE IS IN QUESTION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DISABLED AND THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT. ALSO, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V155000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 260,000.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2001 CHEVY SUBURBAN SINCE JANUARY OF 2008. I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP 3 TIMES AND TODAY WILL BE MY 4TH. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON THE SAME PART OVER AND OVER. THE LAST TIME IT WAS REPLACED MY MECHANIC ADVISED US TO KEEP AT LEAST 1/4 TANK OF GAS IN THE TANK WHICH I HAVE TRIED TO DO. BUT EVEN DOING THIS THE FUEL PUMP SEEMS TO GO ABOUT EVERY 15 MONTHS, JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. ITS RIDICULOUS, THERE IS NO WAY I SHOULD BE REPLACING FUEL PUMPS AT THIS RATE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 SUBURBAN AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. NO WARNING OR BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE TRUCK HOME AND I SAW THE REAR AXLE WAS WET WITH BRAKEFLUID. THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE HAD ROTTED AND BROKE. THE TRUCK IS VERY WELL KEPT UP AND I ALWAYS PRESSURE WASH THE UNDERCARRIAGE AFTER THE SNOW & WINTER. *KB

CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO HAVE A STATE INSPECTION DONE AND FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT HOLDING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, AND THEY FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES WERE WORN OUT, AND BOTH BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

I TOOK MY 2001 SUBURBAN TO HAVE A STATE INSPECTION DONE AND FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT HOLDING. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES WERE WORN ALL THE WAY DOWN AND BOTH ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THEY WERE RUSTED INSIDE AND THE PARKING BAKE SHOES WOULD NOT HOLD. I ONLY HAVE 37000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS ONLY WILLING TO SPLIT THE COST OF THE ROTORS AND THE INSTALLATION OF THE ROTORS EVEN THOUGH THE PARKING BAKE WORE OUT AFTER ONLY 37000 MILES OR EVEN LESS. THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 37000 MILES. I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NEVER LEFT ON WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS A DEFECT ON THE ENGINEERING OF THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM THAT IT WEARS OUT THIS FAST WITH ONLY BEING USED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED.

WIPER MOTOR FAIL. 2001 SUBURBAN 6.0L V8. WIPER MOTOR FAIL. THE WIPER MOTOR IN MY TRUCK ALWAYS FAILS. THE LAST TIME IT FAILED WAS SEPTEMBER 27TH 2010 DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I ALMOST RAN OVER A PEDESTRIAN, AND ENDED UP ON THE SIDEWALK. (TECHNICALLY THAT IS A CRASH) THE WIPER MOTOR JUST STOPPED WHILE IT WAS RAINING. LAST YEAR DURING HEAVY SNOW THE MOTOR FAILED AGAIN. I HAD TO PULL OVER FOR AN HOUR UNTIL THE STORM WAS OVER. NOT TO MENTION NUMEROUS OTHER TIMES AS WELL. THIS MOTOR FAILS A LOT I LOST COUNT. THE EVENTS THAT LEAD UP TO THE FAILED WIPER MOTOR ARE RAIN , SNOW, SLEET, SOMETIME THE MOTOR FAILS DURING A SUNNY DAY AND NO MOISTURE IN THE AIR OR FAILED JUST TO CLEAN YOUR WINDOW. WE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR OF MY WIFE'S 2001 TAHOE APPEARED TO HAVE A MELTED PLACE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PLASTIC HOUSING. THERE WAS A GREEN/YELLOW CIRCLE IN THE CENTER OF THE MIRROR WHERE IT APPEARED TO HAVE GOTTEN TO HOT. I REMOVED THE MIRROR WHICH WAS CONNECTED BY FOUR WIRES. TWO WIRES WENT TO THE HEATING ELEMENT AND THE OTHER TWO CONTROLLED THE AUTOMATIC DIMMING FEATURE. ON THE INSIDE OF THE DIMMING FEATURE WIRES THERE APPEARED TO BE BLACK RESIDUE. YOU COULD CLEARLY SEE THAT THE MOLDED PLASTIC ON THE BACK OF THE MIRROR HAD MELTED ALONG THE OUTSIDE EDGE (DIGITAL PICTURES AVAILABLE IF NEEDED). I CALLED THE DEALER AND ORDERED A MIRROR THAT ONLY HAD THE HEATED FEATURE WITHOUT THE DIMMING EFFECT. I INSTALLED THIS ON THE LOGIC THAT I COULD LEAVE THE DEFECTIVE WIRES DISABLED. SO FAR EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING JUST FINE. THE PRICE OF THE REPLACEMENT WAS $35.00 (HEATER ONLY) AND IF I HAD ORDERED THE DIMMING FEATURE WITH IT ($267.00) "WHICH I THINK IS RIDICULOUS". EVEN THOUGH I WAS OUT THE EXPENSE AND TIME SPENT FIXING THE MIRROR MY HOPE IS THAT YOU CAN RESEARCH THIS AND POSSIBLY KEEP SOMEONE ELSE'S VEHICLE FROM THE POTENTIAL OF BURNING UP OR WORSE YET BURNING UP IN THERE GARAGE AND CATCHING THERE HOUSE ON FIRE. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN IN LATE 2005. WE ARE CURRENTLY ON OUR THIRD TRANSMISSION WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST ONE LOCKED UP AT 20 M MILES AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND FAILED AT ABOUT 98 M AND COST US ABOUT $2500 TO REPLACE AS GM ONLY OFFERED A 1 YR. WARRANTY ON REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS AT THAT TIME. I'M ALREADY CONCERNED ABOUT THE THIRD TRANSMISSION AS IT OCCASIONALLY HAS TROUBLE DROPPING INTO FIRST UPON STOPPING. I THINK GM HAS A PROBLEM HERE THAT THEY ARE FAILING TO OWN UP TO. TRANSMISSION HAS NOT BEEN SHIFTING CORRECTLY FOR A LONG TIME. BECAME VERY NOTICEABLE IN JULY OF 2001. REAR AIR SOMETIMES DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN IGNITION IS OFF. FRONT AIRS SOMETIMES CUTS SELF OFF AND BEGINS TO BLOW WARM AIR. ALTHOUGH NOT APPLICABLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CHANGED OUT FRONT AND MIDDLE SEAT COVERS FROM CRACKING PROBLEM I TALKED WITH GM AND THEY ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THESE SINCE I DO STILL HAVE A WARRANTY. FUEL PUMP MAY FALTER OR FAIL; FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS NON-FUNCTIONAL, REPLACED IT; OTHER FUSES PASSED TESTING WITH METER; VEHICLE STARTED, WOULD NOT RUN MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES. NEW FUEL FILTER. GUY AT SERVICE STATION BANGED ON GAS TANK, AND IT WOULD START THEN RUN GREAT FOR A MINUTE, THEN WILL NOT RESTART. ORDERING A REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2005 ABOUT THE TIME OF GM RECALL 05027. IN DOING ONLINE TROUBLE-SHOOTING TODAY, I DISCOVERED THE 2001 GM RECALL 05027. HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. FUEL FILTER WAS LAST CHANGED IN JULY 2009. COMPLETE FAILURE WHEN IN MOTION, BACKING OUT OF SERVICE STATION ONTO MAIN STREET (US 64 BUS), JUST INCHES FROM LANE OF TRAVEL (6.14.19).WHAT COULD BE WORSE THAN FUEL PUMP FAILURE AT A BUSY INTERSECTION DURING LUNCH HOUR? GRATEFUL IT DIDN'T CATCH FIRE, OR GET HIT. AS THE SERVICE ATTENDANT TRIED TO RESTART IT, OVER AND OVER, THE RELAY IN THE ECU MAY HAVE FAILED AT THAT TIME. IN THE INTERIM, MY HUSBAND DIED. I REPLACED RELAY/FUSES TODAY 9/14/19, AND VEHICLE STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING. ANOTHER MECHANIC BANGED ON FUEL TANK, IT RAN FOR A WHILE, SO HE ADVISED REPLACING PUMP, WHICH IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE AFTER VIEWING YOUTUBE HOW-TO VIDEOS. WITH THE PUMP FAILING SPORADICALLY, AND RESPONDING TO THE VIBRATION OF BEING BANGED, IT SEEMS LIKE FAULTY WIRING OR CONNECTION PROBLEM, OR THAT SOMETHING IS LOOSE OR NOT FULLY SEATED ANYMORE. LOTS OF FOLKS SAY THE CHEVY 1500 IS WIDELY KNOWN FOR FUEL SUPPLY PROBLEMS. GAS GAUGE HAS NOT BEEN ACCURATE EVER. WHEN FULL, IT MAY SHOW EMPTY WHEN TURNING OR HITTING A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD. (TRACK BY COMPUTING MPG AND MILEAGE, TO DETERMINE RANGE). IN SHORT DISTANCES, IT SWINGS FULL-> EMPTY->FULL. WIRING DIAGRAM SHOWS TINY FUSE LABELED PRIME, NONE THERE. ABS INDICATOR LIGHTS UP BECAUSE SENSOR CABLE AT RIGHT FRONT TIRE MAY FAIL ON LEFT TURN, OR HARD RIGHT TURN, YET BRAKES ARE FINE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COMMONWEALTH CHEVROLET (155 MARSTON ST, LAWRENCE, MA 01841, (978) 687-3000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OUR 4 YEAR OLD CHILD WAS ABLE TO PUT OUR 2001 CHEVY SUBURBAN IN GEAR WITHOUT STARTING THE CAR OR PRESSING HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR STARTING ROLLING DOWN THE HILL. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO JUMP IN THE WINDOW AND PRESS THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. I OVERHEARD THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAY THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT ON THIS. I CALLED THE 800# BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE IN OVER A WEEK. I WAS TOLD BY 2 INDEPENDENT SERVICE MECHANICS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THAT THE SUBURBAN AND TAHOE!!! DECEMBER 2002. ATTEMPTED TO STOP SUDDENLY. I HAD TO REPLACE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE AT 29,000 MILES TO DUE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE TIRES. THESE TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED AND BALANCED EVERY 4,000 MILES. I ASSUMED THE TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED POORLY.*AK WELL AFTER REPLACING THE ORIGINAL TIRES WITH GOODYEAR TIRES, I HAVE AGAIN HAD PROBLEMS WITH TIRE WEAR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. I HAD A GOODYEAR SERVICE TECHNICIAN INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND WHEN THE TIRE WAS REMOVED THE INNER TIE ROD ASSEMBLY WAS VERY LOOSE. THE INNER TIE ROD HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. THIS CAN CAUSE INSTABILITY IN VEHICLE CONTROL RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A PROBLEM. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED SPECIFICALLY DOES NOT COVER THIS ITEM. I OBTAINED A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT INDICATES THESE PARTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED QUITE FREQUENTLY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE FROM CHEVROLET AND THE ANSWERS GIVEN TO ME BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I SAW THE INNER TIE ROD CONNECTION WITH MY OWN EYES AND IMMEDIATELY COULD TELL THERE WAS AN ISSUE. VERY CURIOUS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY ISSUES WITH TIRES AND STERRING ON THESE VEHICLES AND NOW I SEE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TIE ROD. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD WARRANT SOME INVESTIGATION.

I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE "POWER ASSIST" FEATURE ON MY 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURED DURING JANUARY OF 2002, AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED AT FOX CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN LAUREL, MD. IN THE 2002 EVENT, I EXPERIENCED A HIGH PITCH WHINING AND VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING, AS WELL AS THE BRAKE PEDAL. IN EFFECTING THIS REPAIR, CHEVROLET REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. DURING THE LATTER PART OF NOVEMBER 2002, THE HIGH PITCH WHINING AND VIBRATION RETURNED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BILL SEIDLE'S CHEVROLET IN CLERMONT, FL IN NOVEMBER OF 2002, AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING OR BRAKING SYSTEM. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WERE WRONG. ON TUESDAY EVENING, 2/4/2003, WHILE DRIVING WITH MY SEVEN YEAR OLD, THE SAME HIGH PITCH WHINING, AND PULSING IN THE BRAKE PEDAL RETURNED. THIS TIME IT RESULTED IN THE TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WHILE EXITING A LOCAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM IN THE ORLANDO AREA. FORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING AS IT TOOK QUITE A BIT OF STRENGTH, TO STEER AND STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER THE LOSS OF THE POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. AT WHAT POINT DOES THE FAILURE OF SUCH A CRITICAL PART OF THIS VEHICLE GET LABELED AS A DEFECT IN THIS SYSTEM. THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM, COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY TO ME AND MY FAMILY (SON). HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK, THE RESULT MAY HAVE BEEN GRAVELY DIFFERENT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE REPUTATION FOR DURABILITY IN THE INDUSTRY, WITH THE EXPECTATION OF PURCHASING A QUALITY VEHICLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS FOUND TO HAVE CRACKED SEAT RAILS BUT DEALER HAD NO REPLACEMENT RAILS, HAVE TO ORDER THEM. GAS GAUGE DOESN'T READ RIGHT (WHEN ON THE RED LINE IT STILL HAS 6 GALLONS IN THE TANK OR 20% FUEL LEFT) THE THING IS A PIECE OF CRAP! GM DIDN'T GIVE A DARN EITHER. IF YOU CALL TO COMPLAIN YOU GET THE RUN AROUND. THIS IS THEIR TOP OF THE LINE PASSENGER TRUCK (SUBURBAN LT) AND DEFINITELY NOT SOMETHING THEY SHOULD BE PROUD OF. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER, MY PARENTS JUST BOUGHT A NEW FORD EXPEDITION SINCE THEY SAW ALL THE CRAP BREAKING ON THIS THING. OTHER FRIENDS HAVE ALSO NOT GM AFTER SEEING FIRST HAND MY BRAND NEW LEMON. ANOTHER FRIEND OF MINE IS ON HIS 3RD REPLACEMENT MOTOR FOR HIS CAMARO WINDOW. HE BOUGHT AC DELCO MOTORS EACH TIME AND THEY ALL STOPPED WORKING WITHIN ONE YEAR. ALL OF THESE PRODUCTS, INCLUDING MY SUBURBAN ARE BEING MADE IN MEXICO I JUST FOUND OUT. I THINK THAT THEY MUST HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH QUALITY CONTROL DOWN THERE OR THEIR SAMPLING SIZE IS NIL. WELL I HOPE GM HAS MADE A BUNDLE OF PROFITS OFF NAFTA BECAUSE THEY'VE DEFINITELY LOST AT LEAST 7 SALES THAT I KNOW OF DUE TO MY $40,000 PIECE OF CRAP. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO ANYONE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PINGS/KNOCKS IN THEIR 5.3 LITER GM ENGINES. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS? OH AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS WAY TOO LOOSE.

VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. AFTER COASTING TO THE SHOULDER AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE TRUCK RESTARTS. THE TRUCK ALSO SPUTTERS DURING ACCELERATION. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES AND HAS REPLACED FOUR WARPED ROTORS THAT CAUSED THE BRAKES TO BE SPONGY. TWO OF THE POWER WINDOW MOTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED DUE TO INOPERATIVE WINDOWS. THE OIL LEVEL IN THE TRUCK DROPS BETWEEN (FREQUENT) VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE LOW OIL INDICATOR LIGHT FIRST ILLUMINATED WHEN THE TRUCK HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 3900 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND A LEAK.*AK
