The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at 30 MPH, she started to choke and was unable to breathe, which resulted in the driver fully colliding into a cement wall. The driver sustained injuries, and medical attention was provided, and the contact child was taken to the local trauma facility. The contact stated that all of the air bags located in the vehicle were deployed during the incident. A police officer was driving behind during the incident and assisted immediately after the crash. The contact was concerned that the air bags deployed violently, causing a fracture to the driver's neck, which resulted in an emergency trigonometry on the scene, who cut the trachea. The driver suffered injuries and underwent multiple operations due to the incident. The driver sustained lung and trachea injuries from the incident. A police report was filed, but the report number was not provided to the contact. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. After the incident occurred, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Took my SUV for an airbag recall and when it was completed my truck AirBag light was left on. My truck did not have that light on when I arrived at the location. Dealer mentioned not knowing what to do about it. I made a complaint and nothing was done by the dealer.

Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V052000(AIRBAGS); however, upon contacting the dealer, she was informed that the remedy may cause her dashboard to crack and she would be responsible for the repair. The manufacturer was then notified of the matter and confirmed that the dealer would not be held responsible for any cracks or damages to the dashboard. The contact stated that the manufacturer should cover the cost of the dashboard due to the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired for the recall. The contact had not experienced a failure.

2008 Chevy Suburban 1500 LT - the dashboard has cracked for no reason. This vehiclas has NOT been in any accident that could have caused this to happen. The cracks have speard now throughout the top of dashboard.

I CAN JUST IMAGINE IF I HAD TO GET A CHILD OR A HANDICAPPED ADULT FROM THE BACK SEAT IN A HURRY AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FOR ME TO DO SO. THE DASH ON MY 2008 SUBURBAN CRACKED AT AROUND 70,000 MILES, IN 2012. I REPORTED IT THEN TO BOTH MY DEALER AND GM. THEY CALLED THIS A COSMETIC ISSUE AND THAT THEY WERE CLEARLY NOT RESPONSIBLE, HOWEVER, MANY MANY OTHER SUBURBANS, TAHOES, SLIVERADOS, AND TRUCKS HAVE THE VERY SAME ISSUE AND AT EXACTLY THE SAME SPOTS AROUND THE AIRBAG. THE CRACKS ARE AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, SUCH THAT, IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY, SHARP PLASTIC SHRAPNEL WOULD FLY INTO THE PASSENGER'S FACE. THIS IS A DEADLY SAFETY CONCERN THAT I TAKE EXTREMELY SERIOUS, SUCH THAT THE SITUATION BECOMES GM IS LITERALLY AND DIRECTLY THREATENING THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. PICTURES ARE ATTACHED WHICH SHOW THE SAFETY DEFECT ADJACENT TO THE AIRBAG. PLEASE HELP PUSH GM WITH ADDRESSING THIS SERIOUS DEFICIENCY.

COMPLAINT TO DOCUMENT A SAFETY ISSUE ON A 2008 CHEVY SUBURBAN. SHARP EDGES ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE HANDS OF PASSENGERS. THE CHROME FINISH IS DELAMINATING FROM THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES CAUSING SHARP KNIFE LIKE EDGES AS NOTED ON SEVERAL 2007 GM MODELS IN DEFECT INVESTIGATION REPORT EA10004. MY 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INJURED BY THE SHARP EDGES ON THE DOOR HANDLES IN MY 2008 SUBURBAN WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THE SHARP EDGES HAVE CAUSED DEEP CUTS TO THE HANDS OF MY WIFE, AND HER MOTHER, AS WELL AS MINOR CUTS TO OTHERS. THERE IS A VERY SERIOUS POTENTIAL FOR INFECTION AND TRANSMISSION OF DISEASE BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF BLEEDING FROM THESE INJURIES. DOORS HANDLES INHERENTLY CARRY GERMS, AND BECAUSE THE INJURIES ARE CAUSED BY THESE DOOR HANDLES, THE RISK IS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER. BASED ON THE RESEARCH I HAVE PERFORMED ON THE SUBJECT, THIS IS A MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAN PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED, AND IS NOT ISOLATED TO 2007 MODELS ALONE. I OWN A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. OVER A 6 MONTH PERIOD, THREE (3) OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND WERE REPLACED. NOW THE FOURTH ONE HAS STOPPED WORKING. GENERAL MOTORS HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AFTER MAKING THEM AWARE OF IT. THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS IS CONSTANT. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING TO THE FAILURE OTHER THAN AN INFERIOR PART. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS IS TO CRAWL OVER THE FRONT SEATS INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED A 2008 SUBURBAN LTZ IN JULY 2011. SHORTLY AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 3 OF THE DOORS LOCKS HAVE STOPPED FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY, THE 4TH DOOR WORKS SPORADICALLY (DRIVER SIDE, PASSENGER). THE LOCKS DO NOT WORK AT ALL WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOR THE MAIN LOCK BUTTON FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LOCK ACTUATORS MALFUNCTIONING AND THAT IT IS ALSO A WELL KNOWN ISSUE FROM VARIOUS DEALERS AND PER MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET. IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, I MUST MANUALLY USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THEN UNLOCK ALL THE OTHER DOORS BY HAND ONE BY ONE. THEN WE MUST LOCK ALL DOORS MANUALLY AFTER ENTERING BECAUSE THE LOCKS ALSO DO NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU TAKE THE CAR OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. ALTHOUGH THE POWER LOCKS ARE A LUXURY, THIS ALSO BECOMES A SAFETY ISSUE. A VEHICLE WITH AN ORIGINAL ASKING PRICE OF OVER $55,000 SHOULD NEVER HAVE THIS ISSUE AND I'M NOT SURE WHY CHEVROLET FAILS TO TAKE ACTION FOR A CLEAR SAFETY DANGER. AS A MOTHER OF 3 CHILDREN I FIND THIS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. A CHILD COULD EASILY OPEN THE DOOR AND FALL OUT OF THE MOVING VEHICLE OR IF WE WERE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ANY ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS (ADULT OR CHILD) COULD POTENTIALLY BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING EITHER SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE!! I REALIZE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS CAN BE ACTIVATED TO KEEP A CHILD FROM OPENING THE DOOR ACCIDENTALLY, BUT THAT WILL NOT PREVENT A CARJACKER OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER FROM JUMPING IN AND STEALING THE CAR OR KIDNAPPING A CHILD. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE HAD ALL FOUR MOUNTS ON EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BREAK MAKING IT NECESSARY TO OPEN THE DOORS VERY CAREFULLY SO THAT THE HANDLES DO NOT BREAK OFF COMPLETELY SO I CAN OPEN THE DOORS. I have a 2008 Suburban. Beginning in August, there was an accident on the highway and traffic was backed up. I was idling, waiting for the traffic to move, like every other car on the hightway and the suburban just shut off and said "Stablitrak off." It happened numerous times after this, just when idling. I took to the dealership I bought it at. They charged a ton to fix something but it didn't' take care of the problem. It's gotten so much worse. I took back a few months ago and they fixed it again, but didn't charge us this time. Now it's so much worse. Anytime I'm iding, just picking my daughter up at school or just stopped at a red light, a warning comes across, "service stabilitrak" or "stablitrak off." and the car immediately shuts off. It usually restarts in 5 minutes or so and I can usually make it to my destination as long as I don't idle again. Monday I was picking up my daughter and it stalled in the parking lot at her high school with tons of cars behind me- I waited, restarted it as I have done in the past. But then, going down this steep high school hill, the car shut off, lost steering and brakes wouldn't even work. I had teen drivers ahead of me that I nearly crashed into, teens in my car. This is not ok. We took it back to the dealership and now they say it's an electrical problem. I've read a ton online forums that this is something that happens with a lot of other people. I'm afraid to drive my car. I'm also not sure what to get fixed because these other people have spent tons of money, just like me with no results.

EARLIER TODAY, THE DASHBOARD ON MY SUBURBAN SPONTANEOUSLY THREE CRACKSWITH NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER. ONE OF THE CRACKS RUNS ALL THE WAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD TO THE TOP OF THE DASH ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THE SECOND CRACK SPLITS OFF THE FIRST ONE AND IS HEADING TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT, LOCKED UP AND WITH NOBODY IN THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE, LIKE MANY OF THE 07-08 MODELS. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY REQUEST THAT WE REPLACE THE CAM AND LIFTERS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY 2 DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS THAT THIS IS A BAD DESIGN BY CHEVY, AND THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME WITH THIS YEAR. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN SELL OUR VEHICLE ON THEIR LOT IF WE TRADED IT IN. READ MANUAL SAID TO TURN OFF AND RESTART. DID THIS AND ALL WAS GOOD FOR ANOTHER MILE THEN HAPPENED AGAIN ON AND OFF FOR LAST 12 MILES BEFORE I COULD GET HOME. UPON TAKING IT TO DEALERSHIP TODAY THEY CAME BACK SAYING NOTHING ABOUT THESE CODES BUT THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE CODE AND OIL LOW?? SO NOW I HAVE GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING. UPON ASKING ABOUT THE INITIAL PROBLEM I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH APPARENTLY THE WHOLE TRUCK PLATFORM AT GM. THE WHEEL BEARINGS ON THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BECAME UNSEALED. WE WERE DRIVING ON A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY. THE ANTILOCK BREAKING AND STABILITRACK WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. WE DID NOT KNOW WHY. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME ON THE INTERSTATE WITH ABOUT 100 MILES TO GO. THE CAR STEERING BECAME INTERMITTENTLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. EVENTUALLY WE STOPPED WHEN THE CAR WAS PULLING DRASTICALLY TO THE RIGHT AND THE WHEEL WELL WAS SMOKING. AT THIS POINT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS POINTED TOWARD A RIGHT TURN WHILE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WAS POINTED DIRECTLY FORWARD. WE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. AFTER NEW BEARINGS WERE INSTALLED, CALIPERS REPLACED, ETC., THE MAINTENANCE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN TO THE OTHER FRONT WHEEL. NEVERTHELESS, THE SAME THING DID HAPPEN TO THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL SIX MONTHS LATER 800 MILES FROM HOME EXCEPT THE SEALED BEARINGS MADE A "CLUNK" SOUND WHEN IT HAPPENED AS WE BACKED OUT OF A PARKING LOT. WE INVESTIGATED THE LOCATION OF CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS AND DROVE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MAY 2013 WITH 76,000 MILES AS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE FROM A GM DEALERSHIP IN NJ. I NOTICED ON TEST DRIVE BRAKE VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT. BEFORE I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE THEY REPLACED NEW ROTORS AND CERAMIC BRAKE PADS. NOW AT 17,000 MILES LATER THERE IS VIBRATION AGAIN, ONCE AGAIN THE ROTORS ARE WARPED BUT THE PADS ARE PERFECTLY FINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME AND I QUOTE "IT MUST HAVE BEEN A HOT DAY AND YOU TOOK THE CAR THROUGH A CAR WASH WARPING THE ROTORS." IF GM IS MAKING THEIR ROTORS WITH NON-VIRGIN STEEL THIS CAN HAPPEN. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2005 SUBURBAN WITH 100,000 MILES, THE ROTORS NEVER WARPED AND I ONLY NEEDED THEM CHANGED ONCE AT 55,000 MILES, I HAVE A LIGHT FOOT. IN 2010 I CHANGED MY 2005 SUBURBAN FOR A 2009 BUICK ENCLAVE THIS CAR WAS THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IN THE 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP THAT I NEEDED ROTORS TWICE, IN 3 YEARS I HAD ONLY PUT 30,000 MILES ON THE CAR, SO THAT LEAD TO THE PURCHASE OF THE 2008 SUBURBAN. I CAN'T HELP BUT BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE MAKING OF THEIR ROTORS, THEY CHANGED MANUFACTURER MAYBE?? WITH THIS 2008 SUBURBAN I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THEM WITH NO ANSWER OR REPLY TO THE FACT WHEN MY 12 YEAR OLD SON WHO WEIGHS 108LBS SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON ONE MINUTE AND THEN OFF THE NEXT MINUTE. SOMETIME I CAN PUT MY PURSE AND A GALLON OF MILK ON THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON WILL DISPLAY. YET MY 108 LB CHILD OR MY 86 LB CHILD THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL GO FROM ON TO OFF. 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO NUMEROUS VEHICLE REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN ROUGH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN SOME OF THE CYLINDERS SHUT DOWN, THE LIFTERS WERE NOT PROPERLY LUBRICATED, CAUSING THEM TO FAIL. THE ENGINE CONSUMED LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL. THERE WERE NOISES COMING FROM THE OIL PAN AND TRANSMISSION AREA, 3 OF THE 4 DOOR LOCKS ACTUATORS WERE REPLACED, THE REAR LIFTGATE BROKE FOR THE 4TH TIME, THE RIGHT RETRACTABLE MIRROR WAS INOPERABLE, THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED ABOUT 505 OF THE TIME, WHICH WAS PROBABLY TIED THE THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR GOING BAD AS WELL. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAD SIGNIFICANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, WHERE CERTAIN LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD, THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE CLICKING NOISE, THAT SOUNDED LIKE A RELAY FIRING VERY QUICKLY. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500 WITH BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L ALENZA TIRES, SIZE 275/55R20, DOT NUMBER: X2AEH56407. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SLOWLY DEFLATED, CAUSING THE THREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED OFF THE ROAD AND FLIPPED OVER TWICE, CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE POLICE WAS CALLED WHO ADVISED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE POLICE TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ASKED THE CONTACT TO RETURN THE TIRES BUT THE CONTACT REFUSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE TIRE AND THE VEHICLE WAS 48,000.

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT EACH COMPONENT HAD ITS OWN MODULAR BUT REPLACING THE MODULAR FOR EACH COMPONENT HAD NOT CORRECTED THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS HAVE ROTTED, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE NOT TO BRAKE PROPERLY. WHENEVER HE ATTEMPTS TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES BEGIN TO PULSATE AND THE VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP COMPLETELY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS. DURING THE FIRST VISIT, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THAT HE NEEDED TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER. THE FAILURE WORSENED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY NEEDED THE MANUFACTURER'S APPROVAL TO MAKE REPAIRS. DURING THE THIRD AND FOURTH VISITS, A MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT IT WAS BRAKING PROPERLY. THE CONTACT IS SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE IMPROPER BRAKING CONDITIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

PROBLEM: UNSTABLE & INADEQUATE JACK FOR VEHICLE. I HAD A FLAT ON MY VEHICLE AND USED THE FACTORY JACK. WHILE PULLING THE TIRE OFF THE LUGS THE VEHICLE SHIFTED AND THE JACK FELL OVER. LUCKILY THE TIRE WAS STILL WITHIN THE WHEEL-WELL AND TIRE/RIM BROKE THE FALL. EVEN THOUGH I WAS ON A FLAT LEVEL CONCRETE PARKING LOT, THE STABILITY OF THE JACK IS POOR (VERY SMALL FOOTPRINT AND TOP OF THE RAM IS ALSO SMALL). NOT VERY MUCH FRONT-BACK MOVEMENT CAUSES INSTABILITY FOR THE JACK. IN ADDITION, THE MAXIMUM JACK HEIGHT PROVIDED BARELY ENOUGH CLEARANCE TO PUT A NEW TIRE ON (20? FACTORY TIRES). THIS WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN POSSIBLE ON ANY OTHER SURFACE LIKE THE SHOULDER OF A HIGHWAY. I DO ADMIT THAT I HAD NOT PROPERLY ?CHOCKED? THE TIRES THAT ALLOWED FOR MORE MOVEMENT THAN NORMAL, BUT THE MOVEMENT THAT CAUSED THE FALL WAS NOT EXCESSIVE. I PERSONALLY ROTATE MY TIRES ON ALL FOUR OF MY VEHICLES FREQUENTLY USING A FLOOR JACK AND NEVER HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE FACTORY JACK IS UNSAFE AND UNDERSIZED FOR THIS LARGE VEHICLE (SUBURBAN).
