Crack in passenger side dashboard at the top left of the airbag panel. It started and has quickly cracked deeper and I am concerned this will affect the safety of my passenger if the vehicle was in an accident.

I purchased a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ around July 10th, 2021 from an individual in Georgia. The vehicle has been immaculately maintained with no damages on it at all. I had researched any recalls on the vehicle before I even looked at it. I found that there was one for an airbag problem. Long story short, I purchased the vehicle and the previous owner took it for the recall issue to be repaired before I picked it up. About 2 weeks after I got it, I noticed that the dashboard was vibrating and that was not anything that was happening when I purchased it. I thought it might just be loose. I’m only 5 feet tall so I could not see over the domed instrument panel when driving. It was only when my daughter drove it that she was the one who noticed the very large crack. It’s cracked on both sides with the largest being on the driver’s side. The crack covers the entire dashboard from the windshield to the dome over the instrument panel. I feel that this is a serious safety issue. I have recently discovered that there was a lawsuit against GM asking for these vehicles to be recalled for this problem. Apparently it happens quite a bit!! I called the dealership that repaired the airbag issue but of course they couldn’t or wouldn’t help me. I know these dashboards are expensive to replace..upwards of $2000. I wanted to file a complaint because as I said earlier, this is a safety concern for me. Can you help?

I tried to get the fan recall done. I went to Countryside Chevrolet I'm Franklin NC. They refused to do the recall. I just moved out of my house and have no address. I'm here, in Franklin NC. Trying to get the recall completed, and I need to drive to Wyoming, and I do not feel safe doing so until recall is complete. My life is in danger with the possibility of fire. And I am stuck in Franklin NC until it is completed.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE SERVICE ROAD, PREPARING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY. SUDDENLY, THE DOOR-LOCKS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN REPEATEDLY, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY. THEN THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WHICH MADE IT COME TO A SUDDEN HARD STOP. THE ENGINE RESTARTED ON ITS OWN. THANKFULLY, MY DEALERSHIP WAS AT THE NEAREST INTERSECTION, SO I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE 2014 TAHOE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE LOCKS CONTINUED TO GO UP AND DOWN AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH ON AND OFF AS I PULLED INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO GO INSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP TO LET THE MANAGER KNOW WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. MY HUSBAND CAME TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE MANAGER TOLD US TO PULL THE CAR AROUND TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I DID A SEARCH AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2014 CHEVROLET TAHOES FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT COULD CAUSE IT TO STALL. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THE DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CLOSE FOR A WHILE BECAUSE OF COVID-19, BUT WHEN THEY REOPENED THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE, GM WILL NOT PAY FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT IN THAT CONDITION SO I'VE TRADED IT IN FOR A NEW, NON-CHEVROLET/GM VEHICLE. I AM REPORTING THIS TO PREVENT ANYONE ELSE FROM PURCHASING AND DRIVING THIS VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. IT'S DANGEROUS! *TR

SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. WHEN RUNNING THE DOOR LOCKS OPEN AND CLOSE RAPIDLY, THE SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE WARNING COMES ON, THE LOW BATTERY WARNING COMES ON THEN GOES OFF, THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SERGES, AND STALLS COMPLETELY FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. THE BATTERY IS NEW, AND THE DEALER SAYS THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECK OUT OK. THE LAST OIL CHANGE ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.

Cracked dashboard in 3 separate pieces. This is safety concern with the jagged sharp point that could cause severe injury during a crash or everyday driving. Lowers value of very high end vehicle and jeopardizes the safety of the passengers in the vehicle.

MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN TWO DIFFERENT AREAS. I SEE THAT MANY DASHBOARD BETWEEN 2013 AND 2017 CHEVY TAHOES HAVE CRACK. ONE OF THE CRACKS LEADS INTO THE COMPARTMENT THAT HOLDS THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. THESE CRACKS ARE NOT FROM NEGLECT AND THESE CRABS ARE NOT FROM HEAT BECAUSE I USE SUN VISORS DAILY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I'M BLACK ON BLACK AND IT KEEPS THE CAR MUCH COOLER. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURES AND I FEEL THAT GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS. THIS IS A $70,000 VEHICLE WHEN NEW. I CANNOT SAY EXACTLY WHEN I NOTICED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE IT IS FLAT ON THE DASHBOARD. THERE ARE SEVERAL CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC FRONT DASH. ONE CRACK IN FRONT OF PASSENGER FRONT SEAT NEAR AIRBAG. ONE IN FRONT DASH IN FRONT OF DRIVER SEAT. THE INSIDE DOOR PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ALSO IS BROKEN. THE PART THAT YOU GRAB TO CLOSE THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE.

WAS GETTING 20 TO 22 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY THEN IT SUDDENLY DROPPED TO WHERE I WOULD ONLY BE GETTING 15 TO 16 MPG. I HAVE ALSO GONE OUT AND GOTTEN GAS THE NIGHT BEFORE AND AFTER RESETING THE AVERAGE MPG I WOULD BE BACK UP TO GETTING 19 TO 20 ON CITY STREETS AND GO OUT THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND ON THE FIRST START UP AND IT WOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO 12 TO 13 ON WHILE STATIONARY AND STAY THAT WAY FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK EVEN AFTER GOING BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AT TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE EFI CLEANED AT LEAST 3 TO 4 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE. SO I'M STARTING TO WONDER IF A PART OF THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT COULD POSSIBLY NOT BE WORKING PROPERLY.

My dash is cracked in 3 places. One is around the passenger airbag. If the air bag is deployed it could send jagged edges into the face of a passenger. Very unsafe and GM just ignores the problem. I had a cracked dash with a Lexus and they replaced the dash no problem. Why won’t GM fix this problem?

MY 2014 CHEVROLET TAHOE HAS A 2 INCH CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TTHAT STARTS AT THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE RECTANGULAR "CUT OUT" TO THE EDGE OF THAT PIECE OF THE DASHBOARD. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE AIR BAG IF THE CAR IS IMPACTED AND DO NOT TRUST GM'S ANALYSIS OF THIS QUESTION. FROM WHAT I AM READING ON THE INTERNET, THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING ALL TOO OFTEN AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY GM. THIS PROBLEM COULD ABSOLUTELY BE A SERIOUS, LIFE THREATENING ISSUE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, MY DASHBOARD CRACKED ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT STRUCK IN ANYWAY OR THE CAR DID NOT HIT A BUMP. I'M AFRAID OF THE CRACK BEING THERE BECAUSE IT IS SO CLOSE TO THE AIRBAG HOUSING.

MY TAHOE HAS ONLY 40,000 MI. WHEN BRAKING THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND SHIVERS ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I REPLACED MY TIRES EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ONLY HALF WORN TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT IT DIDN'T CHARGE ANYTHING. #2 COMPLAINT IS MY REAR DOORS FILL WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINS. AFTER LOOKING UP THIS PROBLEM ON LINE,IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE MADE TO DO THAT AND I DO THINK THAT SHOULD BE THAT WAY!

P265/65R18 Michelin Tires: I bought the vehicle last Fall and it had these tires. I am not sure when they were purchased, but they seem to be in good condition with plenty of tread left. However, these tires are dangerous in winter conditions. They do not grip on snow and they are absolutely dangerous if there is any ice on the roads. I have driven in Minnesota and North Dakota since I got my driver's license and these tires are probably the most dangerous tires I've ever had. This morning (10/31/2023) we had just a little bit of frozen sleet on the roads from last night and it shouldn't have impacted my driving much, but going over 35mph caused slipping and loss of traction. My 2WD Pontiac sedan has much older, more worn tires and handles ice better than my 4WD Chevrolet Tahoe with these tires. I am emailing you so that you are aware that there is a potential issue with these tires. I have already contacted the manufacturer of these tires.

The low beam bulb on both sides of the vehicle keep going out. I have replaced each bulb at least 3 times. There is no moisture in the headlight and I don't see any electrical shorting on the harness. Malfunctioning headlights are a huge safety concern for my family and every other vehicle on the road. Also, my wife has gotten pulled over several times because of this. Almost every Chevy SUV and truck of the same year I see on the road have headlights out as well. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The headlights started failing about two years ago.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door failed to open as needed without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had the door repaired. Recently, the contact stated that while loading groceries into his vehicle, the front passenger’s side door failed to open. The failure persisted, and while making a right turn at 25 MPH, the front passenger door inadvertently opened without warning and almost hit another vehicle. The contact was able to pull over and shut the door. The contact took the vehicle back to the same mechanic where the first repair was performed and made an appointment to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

ONE OF THE CRACKS IS DIRECTLY ABOVE WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE 10000 MEMBERS ON A CRACKED DASHBOARD SITE ON FACEBOOK. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY GM DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THIS. I AM CONCERNED IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THEY CAN BE IMPAILEDED WITH HARD PIECES OF PLASTIC. I LOVE MY 2014 TAHOE LTZ AND HAS PLANNED ON TRADING IT IN ON A NEW TAHOE OR SUBURBAN. WHILE PARKED, THE DRIVER'S FEMALE SEAT BELT BUCKLE END (PART #19121538) FREQUENTLY DOES NOT LATCH. IT USUALLY TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO LATCH. I VISITED A DEALER ON 11/5/20, TO SEE WHAT THEY WOULD DO. THEY CONTACTED GM, WHO REFUSED TO MAKE ANY REMEDY, STATING IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE TO THE BUCKLE END. IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE TO LATCH. ALSO. THE PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO PROPERLY SECURE THE VEHICLE, EVEN WHEN PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. PROBABLY A POOR DESIGN, EVEN WHEN ADJUSTED PROPERLY.

MY 2014 TAHOE DASH IS CRACKED BETWEEN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THE WINDSHIELD VENT. I IS JUST HARD PLASTIC. I HAVE A SUNROOF AND KEEP IT OPEN DURING THE HOT MONTHS AND THE WINDOWS ARE CRACKED TO ALLOW THE HOT AIR TO ESCAPE. I ALSO KEEP HUGE SUN SHADES IN THE WINDSHIELD. I TRIED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. ALL SHE COULD DO WAS TRY TO MEND THE CRACK BUT DIDN'T HAVE ANY LUCK IN FILLING THE GAP. SHE SAID SHE SEES A LOT OF THESE AND BELIEVES IT IS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. I BELIEVE IT TOO. IT WOULD BE $ 1,500.00. I NEED SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT TO DO BECAUSE IT INVOLVES THE AIRBAG. THIS VEHICLE ENDURED AND ACCIDENT IN 2017. STATE FARM INSURANCE COMPANY AND OTHER INSURANCE COMPANIES HAS RATED THIS VEHICLE AS HIGH RISK. THE SELLER, LAFONTAINE AUTOMOTIVE GROUP DIDN'T DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION AND IT WAS MISSING ON THE CARFAX. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN. SWAY BARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRUCK WAS REPLACED WITHIN A WEEK OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. A NUMBER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN ARIZONA ARE CONTINUING TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH 2012-2017 CHEVROLET TAHOE PPV'S ON HIGH TEMPERATURE DAYS. THE PROBLEM MANIFESTS ITSELF AT TEMPERATURES ABOVE 100 DEGREES, EXHIBITS LACK OF ACCELERATION PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND STALLING WHEN BOTH IN MOTION AND SITTING IDLING. THE, ISSUE, FOR THE ORO VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED IN THE SUMMER OF 2015 AND INCLUDED VEHICLES IN OUR FLEET FROM 2012'S THROUGH 2015'S. THIS SUMMER, MORE VEHICLES EXHIBITED THE ISSUES TO INCLUDE 2016'S INCLUDING ANOTHER AGENCY'S 2017 THAT BECAME AN ITEM OF DISCUSSION AT A GM CONFERENCE ON FLEET VEHICLES HELD UP IN PHOENIX. GM SPENT APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AND A HALF TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM TO EVENTUALLY DETERMINE THAT THE FUEL PUMPS NEEDED TO BE REDESIGNED ALONG WITH A NEW HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE. WE HAVE HAD SOME VEHICLES RECEIVE THE NEW PUMPS, BUT NOT ALL AS THE ISSUES WENT AWAY AS THE TEMPERATURES WENT BELOW 100. AT THIS DATE WE ARE NOT SURE IF THE "FIX" IS LIMITED TO 2015'S AND 16'S AND ARE LEFT WITH POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH 2012-2014'S. AT A GM CONFERENCE ON 6/29/17, IN DISCUSSION WITH THE REGIONAL FLEET SALES REP FOR GM, WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO REDESIGNED FUEL PUMPS AND HIGH PRESSURES HOSES AVAILABLE IN THE U.S. AND NO TIME TABLE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF SAME. IT WAS LEARNED AT THE GM CONFERENCE THAT NUMEROUS AGENCIES ARE EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES. OUR DEPARTMENT HAS DOCUMENTATION THAT WOULD FAIRLY CLEARLY SHOW THAT THE ISSUES DESCRIBED ARE OCCURRING TO CIVILIAN CHEVROLET TAHOES ALSO. INDICATIONS ARE GM CONTINUES TO PUT OLD FUEL PUMPS ON VEHICLES PRODUCED AFTER THE REDESIGN. THE POOR ACCELERATION AND STALLING IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. GM HAS BEEN LESS THAN HELPFUL IN CORRECTING THE OVERALL PROBLEMS AND LESS THAN FORTHCOMING ABOUT THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM.

VEHICLE PRESENTED WITH NEAR COMPLETE STALLING AT IDLE IN PARK, AS WELL AS IDLE IN DRIVE WITH BRAKE APPLIED - WHERE ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY HAS TROUBLE STABILIZING RPMS BETWEEN 0.7 AND 0.6, AND THE GAUGE NEEDLE MOVES BACK AND FORTH, SOMETIMES ERRATICALLY. ALSO LACK OF POWER OR LAG, SEVERAL SECONDS HESITATION UPON RAPID AND NON-RAPID ACCELERATION (MAKING EVEN GAUGING AND PULLING DIRECTLY OUT INTO HIGHWAY SPEED TRAFFIC UNSAFE), UNCONTROLLED IDLE SURGE WHEN IDLE STALLING REGAINED THROTTLE (RESULTING IN FORWARD LUNGING).
