My car had only 110,000 and the transmission went out. Maintenance has always been done on my car transmissions should not be going out at 110,000 miles. Gave me no warning at all just stopped in the middle of the road and wouldn’t go.

I was traveling through New York pulling my 21 foot RV and and the transmission on my Chevy truck (83,000 miles) heated up, the engine light came on, the transmission message occurred, and stopped working. We were stuck on the side of the road. The mechanic said these 6 speed transmissions often fail and it cost me $11,000 to rebuild it. He said the torque converter broke into pieces and traveled through my transmission lines. Online I learned this wasa very common problems with these kind of trucks and suvs.

My transmission is slipping and causing safety concerns while driving on the highway. It’s a 2017 Chevy Tahoe that has less than 100,000 miles and we have been reading on the internet about many others having the same problem. We just took it to a shop and they informed us that it’s a common issue with this model chevy and it will cost $5,000 to replace the transmission.

SERVICE BRAKES
26 complaints
There was a recall in 2019 (NHTSA Recall No. 19V645000) on certain GM vehicles for vacuum pump failure, which could affect braking and engine performance. The fix usually involved reprogramming the ECM to improve how the brake assist system operates - not necessarily replacing the vacuum pump unless it had already failed. My local dealership did the reprogramming but in 2025 the vacuum pump totally failed and left my vehicle stranded on the interstate. I had to have towed to a mechanic shop and the inside of the pump had broken into 3 pieces. So I had to have the vacuum pump replaced. During this time my car did not have brakes and put me and surrounding vehicles in a very dangerous situation. The mechanic gave me the broken part to show the dealership. The dealership said there isn’t anything they can do for assistance as I am out of warranty. There was a message that came up that said to service the braking system right before they stopped working.

2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Booster Vacuum Pump failed and had to be replaced. Booster sensor as well at cost of $1,493.22. Our vehicle almost hit another car in line for pre-school with children around and almost hit our garage doors due to this issue. Full recall in Canada but not USA? Why? "The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash"

The brakes become very hard to engage while at a low speed, consistently in traffic and the car rider line at school. It has caused me to almost hit cars in front of me and people walking between cars. To me, it feels like the brakes are sticking and not releasing fully when I release the pedal to recoil and as if a line is going to be filled with pressurized air to work again and it is not able to do so. If i wait and let the cars go far ahead of me and the blast without using brakes, there isn’t a need to keep using the brake m, but this is not how to drive in traffic and it isn’t safe. It also is scary to not rely on the function of my brakes and it is putting people at risk every day I drop my kids off or kick them up from school. I have had the brakes evaluated for repair, but I am told there is no issue with the brake pads or roters. No warning lights. It resolved after having my brakes evaluated and tires replaced, but it has returned.

While driving in a parking lot to go thru a drive thru to pick food I was moving at a slow speed 10 to 15 mph and slowing to a stop my brake pedal became very hard to push and my Tahoe did not stop right away. I almost hit the car in front of me. I put the vehicle in park, turned it off, waited 30 to 45 seconds, turned the vehicle back on and put it in drive and slowly started moving in the drive thru line. When I stepped on the brakes to stop again the pedal got hard to push again and it did not stop right away. Brake Assist warning came on in the dashboard when I moved and tried to stop again. I drove home with extreme caution and as I was rolling into my driveway the same thing happened again that happened in the drive thru. I have parked my Tahoe and will have it towed to dealership.

HARD BRAKE PEDAL RESULTING IN LITTLE OR NO STOPPING POWER WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEED. TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP, YOU MUST STOMP ON THE PEDAL AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THE SITUATION TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN PARKING. THE BRAKE APPLICATION OR TWO ARE FINE, BUT AFTER THAT THE BRAKES FAIL. AND ALSO MAKE A VIBERATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE SOUNDING ROUGH! WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO PRESSURE AT THE PEDAL.

Just over 115,xxx miles and the transmission is shuddering, difficulty with taking off, RPMs are not steady, delayed acceleration due to sputtering. When at signal light it acts as if it is not going to take off, which could cause other vehicles to rear end my vehicle. While on highway going speed limit these same symptoms occur which could cause multiple vehicle crashes. No service engine lights have come on, when attached to portable code reader, no codes were coming up. Vehicle has been serviced numerous time without concern, fluids were changed at recommended mileage. Problem has been confirmed by independent service center that the torque converter clutch is malfunctioning. Transmission is automatic, 6 spd, HMD, 6L-80

At 92,000 miles the lifters went out in vehicle. Repairs were done and replaced the gaskets, lifters and head bolts. After driving the vehicle another 12,000 miles lifters went out again. GM is aware of the issue and does not to take responsibility or make a recall on the issue. It’s a very known issue with the 5.3L engine in cylinder 1 to have a lifter failure.
Nov 13, 2025
I purchased this Tahoe in 2021I believe. I have replaced the transmission in 2024 for this Z71 Tahoe and now the lifters are gone as well. In the process of going in the shop. I’m very upset. Tahoe’s cost too much for transmission, lifters to be going out and needing a new one installed. This is a major problem with Tahoe’s and I need some answers as to what can be done to help with this major issue. Who do I need to call or speak with to get this issue resolved. It’s a problem and no one wants to be accountable for making trash and selling it at high price for the consumer to pay for Chevrolet mistakes. Something must be done!!!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
8 complaints
The system that I believe to be failing has to do with electrical components of the 2017 Chevy Tahoe. It has completely lost all power two times while driving this vehicle. In both instances, mine & my children's lives were at risk including those who could have hit us. If anyone had been behind me as I was turning and the car shut off mid turn, it's possible we could have been hit by a vehicle(s) going 50+ mph. It's available to you to be inspected if needed. The vehicle has been evaluated by a mechanic who says he cannot find any specific 'problem' but did have to turn off multiple error codes. The chevy dealership thinks it may have to do with the remote start antenna. This has not been reproduced by a dealer or service center but it has been reproduced by myself when I attempted to drive the car again after the error codes were turned off. I also have confirmation of this happening to another person who owns a 2017 suburban and after servicing the car they continue to have issues. They were entering onto a highway on the on ramp and their car completely lost power and stopped- I would hate to see what could have happened if this was on the highway itself as it could have had the potential of lives being lost. The only warning messages I have seen had to do with servicing the remote start, which has never worked for us despite having it worked on prior to purchasing the vehicle. There were messages about stabilitrack the first day this incident occurred but not the second time that it occurred. Both times the car will turn back on after about 5 minutes but it's as if the cars system was completely reset (clock at 12, radio setting default, etc). The fact that I know of one person with a 2017 Chevy that this has also happened to, I believe an immediate recall should be initiated as I will not be driving this vehicle until there is an answer to save our lives and others on the road.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle remotely, the vehicle would not start. The contact was able to start the vehicle with the key. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, several safety features became inoperable with an audible alert. The contact stated that the instrument cluster also went blank. The dealer was contacted and stated that it might be a wiring harness failure, and that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was not available.

Front passenger air bag warning light lit up during road trip to NM. (1400 miles) warning bell sounded. We were very concerned airbag would explode at any minute. This was second time airbag light went off. First time was a loose sensor over drivers head. This time we repaired airbag in passenger seat at cost of $1800!. Now light is on again! This must be defective and needs a recall.

I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe Z71, and the paint on the hood , now moving to the top of the Tahoe is showing visible defects. The hood paint started to look cloudy. Even after buffing and polishing it would not improve. Talk to a professional detailer who stated that the problem was with the clear coat. The cost to repair and repaint the vehicle would be way more than an average citizen can afford; especially this day in time. People have mentioned it may require sanding the exterior down to bare metal, which would affect the car’s resale value etc ..After doing some research , I do see this is a problem with many GM vehicles. What is GM doing to make this correction. Pics can be sent upon request. Looking to seek a lawyer.

VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON I-55 SOUTH BETWEEN THE GLUCKSTADT AND MADISON EXITS AROUND 5:45PM ON 12/21/18 WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED SENDING CHARDS OF GLASS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES CLOSE BY AN NO OVERPASSES WITHIN 2 MILES OF WHERE THE GLASS FAILURE OCCURRED. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT CHEVROLET NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF. THE SUNROOF GLASS WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AND NOTHING HIT THE GLASS TO CAUSE THE EXPLOSION. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE CLEARLY SHOWING THAT THE GLASS BLEW OUT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, FURTHER SUPPORTING THE FACT THAT THIS WAS A FACTORY DEFECT.

THE DESIGN OF THE BACK PASSENGER DOORS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE SHAPE OF THE DOOR IS IN A POINT AND NOT ROUNDED, IT IS NOT COVERED IN PLASTIC OR RUBBER. STEERING

I had no issues that would hint there was an issue with my power steering. I stopped at a drive thru, and when leaving and crossing 4 lanes to get into a lane, my power steering went out in the middle, driving less than 20 mph. I am very lucky that no cars were coming and I was able to pull into a parking lot that was across the street. My 3 kids were in the car when this occurred, and it seems this is a common occurance. This is a safety issue that needs addressed before someone gets killed.

The power steering motor went out while I was driving. The message center on my dashboard alerted me just seconds before I couldn't steer. Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. The mechanic ordered the part and replaced it. The process took 3 weeks total to get the part, replace it and Chevy dealer reprogramming it.

3 complaints
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic, the mechanic discovered that all four rims were pitted and peeled which had caused all four tires to not hold air. The contact was informed that due to the rim defect, all four rims needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but contested that the failure was not related to a manufacturing defect of the rims but was instead related to the roads in the State where the contact resides. The vehicle was not replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

2017 Tahoe Premier 4WD with 53,000 miles. Originally had a tire going low so I took it to a Discount Tire to find leak. Upon inspection, they found significant corrosion on the inside of the wheel. After finding this out, I found that NHTSA along with GM issued a Service Bulletin for this problem. (Bulletin No: 08-03-10-006G). I called GM corporate and put together a case number then took it to a GM dealer for verification. Upon inspection, it was found that all four wheels were severely corroded and needed replacing. I was informed that GM is only giving a 20% assistance on the replacements with $3,800 out of my pocket. I do not agree. This should not just apply to a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. This is a known defective product from GM and should be replaced with no out of pocket expense to me. This should not be considered normal wear and tear. Furthermore, with the possibility of tire pressure loss, this could cause an accident that could harm my family and potentially others.

WE HAVE 2017 CHEVROLET TAHOE AND IN THE LAST6 MONTHS ON MY MONTH REPORT THE TIRE PRESSURE IF VARYING AS MUCH A 4-6 LBS. AND IT CAN BE IN A SINGLE DAY. I HAVE TRIED TO ADDRESS IT WIITH THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND THE MAUNFUACTURE AND THEY ARE JUST PASSING THE BUCK. THERE IS NOT LEAK. I THINK IT IS SIMILAR TO THE FORD FIRESTONE ISSUE. SEVERAL YEARS AGO. APPARENTLY THE TIRES ARE APPARENTLY THINNER WHICH MIGHT EFFECT THE PRESSURE SENSOR AFTER 1 YEAR. I WOULD FOR THIS ISSUE TO CASE HARM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC BECAUSE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE. While driving down the highway at 65 MPH in a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, towing a boat, the stabilitrak service light/warning message illuminated, the check engine light illuminated, the vehicle began to shake, lose power, unable to accelerate, and slowed down to 55 MPH automatically. While trying to pull off the side of the highway, the vehicle continued to slow down to less than 40 MPH with no ability to accelerate. The transmission fluid temperature went all the way up to 282 degrees. We pulled off the side of the highway, let the car cool down for about 15 minutes, restarted the vehicle and attempted to accelerate slightly but the vehicle made a high pitched whining noise and would not move. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealer and was diagnosed with a failed transmission. This occurred at approximately 78,000 miles.

ON MY WAY TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT 10 MILES OUT I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,IT WASN'T SHIFTING RIGHT AND AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD STAY ON ONE GEAR TOO LONG AND THE RPM WOULD STAY AT 4500RPM BEFORE IT SHIFTS AND THIS IS WHILE CRUISING AT 65MPH. AND WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE I WOULD HEAR A HUMMING/WHISTLING SOUND FROM WITHIN AND I COULDN'T GO PAST 70MPH. THEN THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I GOT TO A STOP SIGN AFTER GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY MY TAHOE WOULD HESITATE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. WHEN I GOT TO THE PARKING LOT I TRIED TO BACK-IN TO PARKING SPACE AND MY TAHOE WOULD NOT GO ON REVERSE. AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING LOT TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO GET CHECKED OUT,WHEN I PUT IT ON DRIVE NOTHING HAPPENS AND AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO GEAR AND JERKED IT FORWARD WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE GAS SO MUCH SO,THAT THE REAR TIRES EVEN SCREECHED A BIT! IT SCARED THE SH*# OUT OF ME. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT WAS DONE TO RECTIFY IT.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the RPM was elevated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would brake independently while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine and Electronic Stability Control warning lights would occasionally illuminate. The contact stated that restarting the vehicle was a temporary repair; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the windshield wipers activated independently, and all four doors locked independently. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with a fuel injector #6 failure; however, the part was replaced approximately one month prior to the failure reoccurring. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel, and the vehicle briefly shut off, then restarted while still in motion. Later, while driving at 45 MPH and attempting to complete a turn, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was unable to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, but the vehicle was able to restart. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The stability control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the alternator and transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The transmission dropped 2 thousand miles over my warranty at 102k miles. I was taking my son to see his surgeon and the car started jerking and making noises in the middle of a busy intersection. We almost got hit several times trying to get it to the side of the road for safety. I had to pay almost $1800 to get it towed home (we were in Peoria about 150 miles from home to see his doctor). There were no indications the transmission was going out and never should have at that mileage. I always do regular maintenance and keep all my receipts. I then paid 6k out of pocket to have it replaced with a better transmission since I learned GM put a bad transmission in the Tahoe I have (I was told I missed the time limit to have it fixed on their dime). Then 6 weeks later a fuel injector and the lifters failed due to the active fuel management. No one was hurt thankfully because I was just leaving home to go to work when I noticed the tapping sound and had my mechanic come look at it. Him and 2 other mechanics confirmed it was the lifters. I had already borrowed money to replace the transmission and can’t afford the $12k quote to fix it. Now it has been sitting in my driveway for almost a year unable to be driven. It is however causing me severe depression. I’m borrowing my son’s car while paying almost $700 monthly on a Tahoe I can’t even drive. I was even more sad when I found out there’s thousands of people with the same issue. GM should be ashamed of themselves!

I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe with 77,000 miles on it. I will have it 4 years Labor Day Weekend. I get all the regular service and oil changes on it in a timely fashion. Last week I was driving my daughter to a friends house and there was a tapping sound. The car did not sound right. Suddenly the engine light illuminated and was blinking. The car smelled of gas. Thankfully I wasn't too far from home. I had to drive on a highway to get back to my house. I could only go about 30 mph. It was very dangerous. I had my hazards on but people were still beeping at me since I was causing a safety hazard for myself and others. I managed to get home safely and called the dealership. I dropped my car off the next morning since it is not drive-able. The service rep said it was going in as an emergency. After 5 days they finally looked at it. They did not give me a loaner. If I wanted a loaner I was required to pay $46/day. The rep said the repairs to my 3 year old car wont be covered and it will cost over $5,000 to fix the engine. It is a known engine issue to Chevy corporate bulletin 15-06-01-002H Engine Misfire/tick noise, malfunction Indicator Lamp Illuminated. It is common in 20-15-2019 Tahoe and Suburban. I had to borrow a 12 year old car to drive around my 4 children because my 3 year old car has a bad engine. Ethically how can Chevy require their customers to cover a cost of an engine that they know is faulty. There was nothing that I did to cause this issue. I will never purchase another chevy. Purchased 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe on 1/15/2025 with 50,647 miles on it. At exactly the 40 day mark, we noticed a problem when the vehicle began downshifting. When slowing down to stop at a red light, we could feel the transmission begin jerking as it shifted down and the check engine light came on. It has been taken back to the dealership (where we bought it), 5 times as of yesterday and they cannot fix the problem. The engine idles rough, downshifting is extremely hard, check engine comes on and off sporadically. The transmission temperature goes up and the dashboard lighting dims intermittently. This vehicle appeared to be in extremely good physical condition with very few miles, that's why it was purchased.

*TAKATA RECALL* I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A LOT OF DIFFERENT ISSUES WITH MY 2017 TAHOE PREMIER. THE ENGINE BLOCK IS A DEEP RUST COLOR. ENGINE IS EXTREMELY HOT EVEN HOURS LATER AFTER PARKING. THERE IS A THICK BLACK SLUDGE THAT IS ON NEARLY EVERY PART UNDER THE TRUCK. I STARTED HEARING A TICKING NOISE THAT SPED UP AS MY DRIVING SPEED INCREASES. THIS ISSUE OCCURS OFTEN BUT NOT DAILY. AS WELL AS WHEN TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY IT MAKES A HIGH PITCHED POPPING NOISE ( THE SOUND IS SIMILAR TO A SMALL ROCK BEING FLUNG ONTO THE ALUMINUM WHEEL) I ALSO HEAR GRINDING NOISES WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN. METAL AGAINST METAL IS AS BEST AS I CAN DESCRIBE IT. I DECIDED TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND IT APPEARS FINE. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHECK OTHER LEVELS ASIDE FROM THE WINDSHIELD FLUID SO I WILL BE FORCED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE I WAS UNDER MY TRUCK I NOTICED HOW THERE WAS A LOT OF RUSTED PARTS. THE (IF I AM CORRECT) EXHAUST HOUSING LOOKED NEARLY BURNED AND THE PRODUCT STICKER THAT IS ON THERE IS 100% BITES. AS IF SOMEONE PUT A LIGHTER TO IT. NOT SURE WHAT ALL THE GUNK IS THAT IS CAKED ON EVERYTHING BELOW THE TRUCK BUT IT CAN'T BE A GOOD THING FOR SURE. ALSO, I FOUND A BOLT WEDGED BETWEEN AN AREA. WHY IS THERE A BOLT AND WHERE DID IT COME FROM? DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE MISSING PARTS ON MY ENGINE OR ANYWHERE ELSE? MY TRUCK RUNS SO HOT BUT NO LIGHTS HAVE COME ON. THIS EVENING AFTER SEEING WHAT I DID MADE ME FEAR THE THOUGHT OF DRIVING MY TRUCK THAT I PAY A HEFTY PAYMENT ON. IT HAS 12,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE HAD IT ONE YEAR AND AWAYS GET MY SERVICES DONE ON TIME WITH OIL CHANGES AND SO FORTH. I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS ISSUE OR BETTER YET ISSUES. WHO'S GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AND HO LONG BEFORE SOMEONE RECALLS MY TRUCK FOR THIS ISSUE !?

My car has a problem This will be the 3rd visit to the Chevy dealership and the 6th time in a garage. At this time, the original alternator that came with the Tahoe, was running high through December and replaced with a new alternator from Parts Geek. It was ok for a couple weeks and is running high again. You cannot test it from a cold start to get this reading. It must be ran for at least 20 min. After a certain amount of time the battery gauge will move to the highest point, the warning lights of ABs, traction control, stabilitrak, trailer brake light, battery light (first time on 1/27/2026 for battery light), loss of drivers assist on 1/26/2026, tire pressure light, car dies coming to a stop sign. I can’t turn it back on for at least a min. I’m stuck inside with zero power, can’t unlock the doors to get out to direct traffic, open windows or put on 4 ways so I don’t get smacked in the middle of the road. After that minute I heard a click (no key in ignition, not trying to start) and then the dash lights started coming back on again and I started it. The battery did not restart the time on the radio screen so I’m assuming I didn’t die fully. The radio screen always goes black first, then the heat goes in and out, the warning lights come on and it dies. Takes a minute or so to be able to start it again and the lights aren’t on anymore but will continue to do the same shit after awhile of driving and now daily. I’m afraid to drive it anywhere since almost getting stuck inside and plowed at an interaction. I have reached out to Chevy about this problem and was referred to take it back to the dealership again, and to reach back out as soon as it’s there to open a case on the issue.Ive had it, this has been ongoing for a year, and I have to keep paying for things that doesn’t fix the issue and it’s getting worse.

Urgent Attention Needed for Chevy 2017 Tahoe Safety Concern The Chevy 2017 Tahoe is presenting a critical safety issue with the recurring error message "Trailer Brake System" on the dashboard. This leads to a complete shutdown of the vehicle and loss of control at random intervals, posing a severe danger, especially on high-speed roads and highways. Despite attempting repairs, including replacing the controller module, plug adapter, and trailer brake switch, the issue persists. This widespread problem, affecting many users, indicates a potential manufactured defect demanding immediate attention and a recall. It is crucial to address this matter promptly due to its hazardous nature, even for those who do not use a trailer. The safety of vehicle occupants is at stake, and urgent action is required to rectify this concerning issue.

Additionally, the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazards lights and continued driving 20 MPH. The contact stated that upon arriving to his residence, he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle and read diagnostic code P2138, which indicated an accelerator pedal sensor failure. The contact stated that he replaced the part himself; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that there was water leaking inside the vehicle from the roof antenna mounting point, which caused the driver's side fuse box to rust, causing electrical failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

When pulling out of my driveway my gas pedal foot became stuck on the gas pedal. I could not remove my foot from the gas pedal. I immediately stepped on the brake pedal and then my Tahoe accelerated rapidly. I removed my foot from the brake pedal because any pressure on the brake just caused the car to accelerate faster. I then managed to wiggle my gas pedal foot from off of the gas pedal, it took a lot of effort. I was wearing normal men's shoes with no protrusions of any kind. I have recently seen in the news several similar occurrences including one that resulted in a fatality and others being injured as the car accelerated into an Apple store. In two of these cases that I've seen in the news the drivers have reported that their foot became stuck on the gas pedal and when they applied the brakes the car accelerated out of control. This is exactly what happened to me except i managed to get the car under control before I hit anything. My inspection of the Tahoe's pedals revealed that the two pedals are very close to each other and when applying the brakes the brake pedal comes down on the foot that is somehow stuck on the gas pedal. I believe the stuck accelerator foot was somehow trapped under the brake pedal. The pedals are too close together.

WHY IS NHTSA ALLOWING SALE OF MILLIONS OF DANGEROUS UNFIXABLE AIRBAG RECALLED SUVS TO BE DRIVEN WHEN THE CONSEQUENCE IS DEATH BY AN ALLOWED LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM IN A MAJORITY OF CARS ON THE ROAD. WHY IS THERE NO PROTECTION OF INNOCENT PEOPLE HERE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS OR ISN'T ALLOWED.
