My Tahoe died on a busy bridge in Moore OK during rush hour traffic. Got a ticket for impending traffic. Had to get car towed. Tahoe is still in shop. I have a rental….GM trax. My car is in the shop indefinitely. I’m requesting a rental car of equal value to what my Tahoe was. Please make contact with the appropriate Hertz company as we will have bad weather in 2 days.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the message "Reduced Acceleration - Drive Safety Mode - Drive with Care" was displayed. The vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 45 MPH and failed to accelerate properly. Additionally, the brake lights failed to illuminate, and the engine fan was abnormally loud while driving. The contact was able to drive to the destination and turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to O'Reilly Auto Parts, where DTC: P1098 for the coolant control valve (CCV) assembly was retrieved. The contact stated that a burning odor was outside the vehicle after the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, but no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved since the code was cleared by O'Reilly Auto Parts. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: N252508341 (Engine); however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while having a routine oil change at a local dealer, the contact was informed that the engine was blown. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, upon further notice, the contact's husband heard an abnormal clicking sound coming from under the hood. The vehicle was diagnosed, and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

Failed coolant control valve and months-long wait for replacement part. Error code P1098. Service center informs us that the parts shortage is nation-wide. We must frequently monitor the engine temperature, which distracts from attentive driving.

2022 Tahoe RST with 5.3 10 Speed. Bought new in Sept of 2021. The 2022 we have had problems with shuttering in the drivetrain from very low miles. We have brought it into the dealership atleast 3-4 times before for this issue. This was all while it was still under its 60k drivetrain warranty. Dealership always told us that since there was no check engine light or codes that they can’t fix what is not broke or broke yet. We needed to wait for it to break or light then bring it in. We also received a letter in the mail for the trans recall (program)last year which was preformed. That day after, my wife started to notice it shuttering more than usual and more often. I call the dealership that performed the recall which they said to bring it in. After looking it over. I get a call saying that I should get the transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid changed. It might be the transfer case slipping. Advisor told me that since it was about due for this service. Fast forward to May 9th of this year. My wife was at church. She parked it which it ran fine. Came out about 30-40 mins later put it into drive and wheels where locked up. She called me panicking that something was wrong. Go to her aid which I had to have it towed to the same dealership that serviced it before. Even check it in with the same advisor that helped us before after the recall issue. I should now mention our 22 Tahoe has 68,700 miles. Dealership called us a few days later saying it was the valve body. Especially since we had have problems before with the drivetrain and documented. The vehicle is still inoperable. We are waiting for a valve body with no ETA.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
12 complaints
I'm submitting this complaint regarding an ongoing electrical defect on my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle has experienced repeated sudden battery drain & no-start events, occurring approximately once per week. These failures happen without warning, sometimes after the vehicle is parked for as little as 6 hrs. All dealer updates & software campaigns were completed. Despite this, the vehicle continued to suffer no-start events. After further troubleshooting, we removed fuse F35RA (which powers only the hands-free liftgate module). Once this fuse was removed, the issue immediately stopped — confirming that the parasitic draw originates from the liftgate module, consistent with GM Technical Service Bulletin 24-NA-039. This indicates a known electrical defect. This problem has caused multiple safety concerns: The vehicle has left my family stranded late at night. My husband works in Chicago & relies on this vehicle. A sudden no-start or complete electrical failure in that environment is dangerous. We were unable to transport our children to scheduled activities due to the vehicle being completely dead. Repeated deep discharges are damaging the battery we purchased only months ago. A family vehicle shouldn't unpredictably become inoperative. This is not normal wear — it's a safety-critical electrical defect that could strand owners in unsafe conditions, especially in winter climates. GM hasn't issued a recall for this issue despite issuing a TSB documenting the defective behavior. The frequency & severity of electrical failure suggest this should be investigated as a potential recall. I'm requesting NHTSA review this matter due to the safety implications & the repeated nature of the failures. Incidents: No-start after 6 hours parked at a friend’s home Multiple weekly no-start events before fuse removal Occurred before & after software updates were performed Location: Incidents occurred both at home & away from home. Thank you for reviewing this complaint.

The Onstar telematics control module failed and the dealership says the repair parts are not available with no expected delivery date. This disables the Onstar system and GPS.
Oct 05, 2025
I along with many owners have experienced the widespread OnStar/telematics module failures in the current generation Tahoe and GM vehicles, which cause onboard system outages like navigation, safety alerts, city emergency services, cellular connectivity, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and even instrument cluster functions sometimes going offline. The part is often back-ordered with no ETA, while GM denied warranty coverage causing the owner to pay for the replacement part and all labor.

The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the center console armrest suddenly burst into flames. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and evacuate the vehicle. Within moments, the front end of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The air bags did deploy. Local emergency services were able to extinguish the flames but did not investigate the cause of the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was filed. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for a second-degree burn to his left pinky finger. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was informed that the manufacturer intended to send a specialist to inspect the vehicle. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 73,000.

On two occasions my car shut down after hard braking while approaching stopped traffic on a freeway. The Chevy dealer has not been able to locate a cause. In both cases I was in the travel lanes when the vehicle shut down and fortunately I was not struck from the rear. It took me time to recognize that the car was dead, place it into Park, then recrank it.

The ONSTAR system only lasted 5 months from purchase of the vehicle. I was told that GM had none in stock, so the dealership placed a order to have a new one installed under warranty. I was to receive a call when it became available, but received no calls. My warranty expired in August and the dealership wants me to pay $1000 to get this replaced, when it was a warranted part that I waited for, for 2 1/2 years. My auto is not safe now as many components do not work, and I drive 45 min to work and then back in Montana. If I break down on the deserted highway there will be no way to get help! Please help!

2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71. Sunroof leaked about 6 months after purchase. Could hear water sloshing overhead and then water came out of several places inside vehicle; a/c vents for 2nd and 3rd row, front wheel wells and seatbelt housings. Carpet and seats were soaked and after 2 more times in a week vehicle smelled like mold. Dealer had it in to inspect and said the drains were kinked and clogged. They had vehicle for 3 weeks and fixed drains and replaced headliner and carpet. Now, almost 2 years later, same exact thing is happening.

The vehicles ability to accelerate was limited. Several system service warnings came on along with the check engine light.
Nov 21, 2025
During a normal acceleration from an on-Ramp onto a major interstate a Check Engine Light (CEL) came on with warnings of safety features no longer being active. The vehicle begin vibrating abnormally and the pedal was not very responsive. I took the next exit and stopped at an auto parts store to have the engine code checked. Cylinder #2 misfired due to an injector issue. The vehicle was confirmed to have this issue at a Chevrolet dealership. The car was a CPO through FORD and was covered. I owned the vehicle for 14 days. This unit has the L87 Motor, and had already undergone a motor replacement under the recall warranty. The injectors apparently were not replaced, only the O-Ring. Unlike many manufacturers GM has removed Fuel Injectors from their PowerTrain warranty. A motor with under 5,000 miles was not covered since the body and bolt-ons were original with 45,000 miles. GM has a very recent history of injector recalls and issues. These injectors should undergo the same scrutiny as previous GM injectors.

The fuel filler neck for the diesel has a plastic neck extension made of cheap plastic and it broke making it a hazard to even fill the vehicle up and diesel fuel is spilled, not secured, and fumes could cause a fire hazard because the piece is faulty. GM customer service ignores me and transfers me over and over until they hang up and never actually talk to me about this

On 6/26/2025, I was on an elevated one lane exit ramp of a major freeway. My 2022 Tahoe suddenly lost complete power with no warning at all. The car behind me slammed on his brakes and narrowly missed me as I could do nothing except get as close to the concrete barrier as possible. Thankfully the Tahoe went into Neutral so I managed to roll down the ramp. I prayed that I could get across 3 lanes of the frontage road without getting hit so I could safely make it into a parking lot. I had to call a wrecker even though I was literally two driveways down from a Chevrolet dealership. I could not make it that far with no power and using only the momentum from the exit ramp to get me to safety. I have 32,635 miles on the Tahoe. It was a faulty fuel pump power control module.

The roof leaks when it rains, we already brought it back to the dealer and they performed a repair but it leaked again in the next rainy day after about a month.
Nov 08, 2022
Purchased a new 2022 Tahoe from the dealer, Casey Chevrolet Newport News Virginia, in February 2022. Vehicle developed a roof leak in June. The leak caused water to pour out of the overhead console on to the dash, seat belt reels, the overhead light fixtures and on the drivers feet after running through the dash. Taken to dealer where it was in the shop for four weeks, windshield and headliner removed and a defective weld was thought to be the problem. After the next rain the same problem was evident. Returned the vehicle to dealer and headliner removed again but they were unable to determine the source of the water. The interior electronics and electrical components have been rain soaked for four months. When driving the vehicle after a rain and having water pour out of the ceiling between the driver and the windshield is unnerving and unsafe. Additionally most of the function of the controls are electronic and continuing dousing with water is a serious concern. The air bags in the A and B pillars are probably getting wet as well.
Oct 20, 2022
After rain, sloshing water can be heard in the head liner. Moving forward it pours out through the upper rear seat belt slots and the aft ac vents. Stopping causes water to pour out of the upper forward electronic panel where the Onstar button is located. Unsure of corrosion and damage to upper electronics. Started after vehicle was 2 months old and every hard rain or car wash since.

The contact stated that while an adolescent child was seated in the seat, the headrest poked her in the back of the head. The contact stated that the headrest was unsafe and failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The sliding center console/armrest in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe moves too easily and does not remain securely locked in place when fully extended forward. Even light pressure, such as when a passenger or driver rests an elbow, can cause it to shift suddenly. This can startle the driver and cause a momentary loss of focus, creating a safety hazard while the vehicle is in motion. When the console is fully extended forward, it should lock in position. In my vehicle, it often fails to stay locked, allowing unintended movement in each direction. This happens during normal driving conditions and can be triggered accidentally by an occupant’s elbow or arm. The sudden movement is distracting, especially at highway speeds, and could contribute to an unsafe driving situation. GM issued TSB PIE0677B in April 2022 describing this exact condition (“Power Floor Console Armrest will not lock in place and/or console lid slides back and forth freely”), indicating they are aware of the defect. However, there has been no recall. Given the potential for distraction and loss of control, this should be addressed as a safety recall.

On May 9th, 2025 we had to have our 2022 Tahoe towed to the local dealership. There was a transmission error message and the battery was completely drained. The dealer put a new battery in it for $485 and we were told it was good to go. The next day, the car would not go into Reverse. Had to have it towed back to the dealership and was told that the Transmission failure was a recalled part and would be covered. Later we were called and told even though the part that had failed is in fact the same part in the open recall, that our VIN was not on the recall list and the cost to fix the vehicle would not be covered. In addition to all the headaches and money out of pocket (rental cars, tows, new battery) we now have to wait at least 4 - 6 weeks to receive the recalled part but since our VIN is not on the 2022 Tahoe recall list (even though it is the same part as the recall that failed), we are having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Chevy needs to stand behind this recall and cover the cost.

Purchased brand new. Had for awhile and the veh shook. Took it in and the replaced with all brand new lifters. Still not correct than replaced with all new fuel injectors. Now when I take it in for the last several months it’s 1.5 to 2 quarts low on oil. Told that GM standard says 1.5 quarts low between oil changes is normal!!! I’m currently on an oil consumption test at each 1,000 miles snd I’m at 2 qrts with 1,500 til my next oil change. The volume on the radio goes up and the computer is stuck and you cannot turn the radio off or use the computer screen at all. You have to turn off the vehicle and start it again in order for the buttons to work.

With 8500 miles while driving the engine started ticking, jerks on acceleration, Trans shifting very slow and a light warning with “reduced acceleration while driving” came on. Then immediately after the Instrument panels warning lights indicated service traction control, forward collision system unavailable, and check engine light all illuminated. Then car stopped accelerating and was almost rear ended on highway. Luckily no one was hurt. What is GM/Chevy doing to fix this issue. Apparently, this is common issue with the new Tahoes.

While driving down the highway, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple issues. The headlights went out, the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, and all interior lights shut off. The vehicle then shifted into neutral and stalled. There were no warning signs or indicators before this happened. Our safety was at risk as we barely managed to pull the vehicle over to the shoulder, with no working emergency lights. The highway had no street lights, and we were constantly worried about being hit by other cars since our vehicle was nearly invisible without the emergency lights. The malfunction left us stranded more than two hours from home. We had to have the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection, which was also over two hours away. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms—everything happened suddenly without any notice.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my absolute shock, extreme frustration, and profound distress regarding the catastrophic and recurring failures of the BRAND NEW $86,626.50 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe RST we purchased from Community Chevrolet (200 W Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91502). We did not purchase a used, low-budget vehicle; we invested a life-altering sum of EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS in what we expected to be a safe, reliable family SUV. Instead, we have received a death trap that the dealership refuses to fix permanently. This vehicle is fundamentally unsafe to operate. We have brought it to your dealership four (4) times for the same critical safety issues, and each time, we receive the same insulting explanation: a "software update" or "recalibration." These are not fixes; they are negligent bandaids designed to clear error codes long enough for us to drive off the lot. We are experiencing terrifying, random SYSTEM FAILURES while driving: "Service ESC" warning "Forward Collision System Unavailable" "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE 62MPH TOP SPEED" Let me be unequivocally clear: the braking system has failed twice while my wife and three young children were inside the vehicle, nearly resulting in fatal collisions on the freeway and city streets. This is not an inconvenience; this is a life-threatening defect that you have failed to remedy. The negligence displayed by returning this vehicle to us in an unsafe condition is staggering. The financial and personal toll is immense and completely unacceptable: We have paid for tow trucks three times. We have missed work, leading to a formal warning for my wife's employment. We have incurred costs for rental vehicles and arranging essential transportation for medical appointments and school runs. For $86,000, I expect a vehicle that adheres to basic safety guidelines, not one that endangers my family and others on the road. The vehicle had approximately 56,000 miles when these critical issues became severe, yet it is

Hi, My truck was ordered May 2021. Came in January 22, 2022 as a 22 model year. Its a 4 wheel drive with the Duramax diesel option. Ran great until around 6000 miles where I started to experience a miriad of electril issues including a completely malfunction anti collision system, transmission problems, several electrical problems and worst of all "Reduced Acceleration" otherwise known as "Limp Mode" in diesels. The check engine light came on also and my MPG dropped from 18-28 mpg to 12 mpg.The dealer told me that they were backed up with diesel trucks and to hold off. On July 8, 2022, the truck went into limp mode while trying to accerae onto a major highway. I had the horn blown at me and almost got rearended trying to get on the highway. I had nowhere to go and it took me about two minutes to get up to 60mph. I got off the highway and limped to the dealership. The truck spent 122 days in the dealership and despite me trying to lemon the truck, they said it was fixed after around 110 days. I was forced to pick it up. It broke down in the parking lot before I could drive out of the dealership. I am now taking action agaisnt GM. This is not a Chevrolet issue with the dealership but GM. Their factory reps rebuilt some wiring harness in my truck. Something to do with the transmission module. Again, I dont have a problem with the dealer. The truck seems to be running fine but I have notice some strange behavior with the forward anti collision system and the auto brake. It doesn’t work all the time. I can,t tell when it will work and if it works at all. I will be bringing the truck back to the dealership. Now, this is a major problem because im not the only one complaining about the anti collision system. I know someone who says his same year diesel Chevy pickup has an issue with the camera not working in the front and he doesn’t trust the anti collision system as well and he is in the business. This is a major problem GM is hiding from the public.

3 Separate Major Problems: 03/23 - 8500 miles. Driving at 70mph on highway, received message on drivers display "Conditions Not Correct For Shift", car went into Neutral, no acceleration possible. Was able to safely get off highway. Stopped car, and restarted, error went away and car was able to be driven further without incident. Chose to not take in for service, 4/23 - 9000 miles. Noticed fluttering noise coming from engine bay when lifting off gas after acceleration. Service eventually found lifter/bearing issue. Whole engine was replaced under warranty. Was without car for 3 months. Further research online found that others experienced the same issue while driving and had engine failure at speed resulting in life threatening driving conditions. 4/25 - 31000 miles. Last weekend, driving at highway speeds and came to traffic standstill in left lane on major highway. Went to accelerate, and received "Conditions Not Correct for Shift" message, car went into Neutral and would not accelerate. Turned car off, and tried to restart and car was stuck in Park. No way to access Neutral, leading to blocking of left lane where cars were approaching and avoiding us at highway speeds. OnStar was notified immediately with the severity of danger stressed (2 adults, 2 children and dog remained buckled in the vehicle). However, CHP took over 1 hour to arrive, shut down highway and somehow was able to start the car one time and get into Neutral for CHP to push car safely to shoulder. Dealership alerted me to failed "Fuel Control Module" To have to 3 major engine related incidents that could have lead to accident or death is unacceptable. Online research shows these issues have been common for this vehicle engine and is absolutely unacceptable. For a driver to not be able to safely engage a Neutral override is absolutely unacceptable. I was informed by the tow truck driver that a special tool was needed and you had to crawl under the vehicle to engage neutral override.

I was driving down the interstate and unexpectedly the sun roof exploded. There was no debris from the cars distantly on front of me that could've damaged the sunroof like this. There were no temperatures fluctuations that coud've caused this. Luckily, I had the screen shut which kept the glass from reigning me, my husband, and my daughter. After stopping the vehicle, my husband took a photograph. It was was noticed that most of the glass came out of the vehicle as opposed to inward. With that being said, the sunroof exploded and was not hit from an outside source.

BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
2 complaints
The safety issues with this vehicle all seem to be related to the vehicle Park Assist and cross track functions. The dealer has attempted on several occasions to fix the vehicle without success. There is usually no warning when theses functions are not working properly except sometimes there is flashing spot on the screen instead of warnings. While the dealer has not been able to duplicate some of the issues, they have witnessed the flashing screen and I have provided videos of the dashboard when in failure mode. While I know one can't rely solely on the park assistance features, the inconsistency of this system poses great risk for pedestrians and property damage. The dealer stated that the manufacturer of my car is aware of this problem but does not have a solution. There have been no accidents to date so the issue is on-going. Description of problems: 1-The Park Assist system often does not detect large vehicles, walls, trees, etc. that are within inches of my vehicle. On other occasions the alert system works fine. I back the Tahoe into our garage at least once every day. This vehicle does not perform consistently under the same circumstances. Some days the Park Assist function works well and other days it seems to sense nothing behind me. 2- A flashing white dot sometimes appears in the center of the camera screen when backing up. In most cases the Park Assist is not functioning when the flashing dot appears. (A video of this condition was provided to the dealer.) 3-My car is equipped with 2 types of warning signals indicating when there is a potential collision: a.Option 1: Vibrating driver’s seat b.Option 2: Audible beeps I prefer audible beeps and always select Option 2. My truck frequently changes the mode to vibrating seat. This is very disconcerting and annoying when the truck suddenly switches to vibrations unexpectedly. I do not like the vibrating seat and expect the vehicle to retain the setting I choose.

My name is [XXX] On April 8, 2022, I purchased a 2022 High country Tahoe (VIN [XXX]). The window sticker (see attached) states Safety & Security Chevy Safety Assist; •Automatic Emergency Braking •Front Pedestrian Braking •Forward Collision Alert •Rear Cross Traffic Alert •Rear Pedestrian Alert The window sticker also states that the Front/Rear Parking Assist was deleted and it will be retrofitted. However, there is no mention that the above mention features were not working. I have inquired and could not get an answer from the dealer, and/or General Motors. So, I made an appointment and took it to the dealer for service. After waiting for four hours, the dealer technician gave me a work order (see attached) stating that; “when looking up the vehicle build RPOs found that vehicle at this time is not built with park assist, the park assist works with many other modules as image processing and front camera/object detection and without one all the other features the vehicle comes with will not be present until GM comes out with hotfix form concern.” I paid $82,780 for the High Country Tahoe because all the Safety features, to find out that no all of them are working properly. This is FALSE ADVERTISING, it should had been disclose, that the Safety features were not available at this time, therefore not working correctly. I want General Motors to issue a warning alert to all buyers, notify them that Safety Features are not working in order to prevent accidents. I want General Motors to fix my Tahoe and ensure that all the Safety Features works correctly immediately. Vehicle continues to experience flashing air bag light and service self-restraint system warning. Brought in twice in 2025 for self-restraint system but dealer refuses to cover under warranty. On December 18, 2025, experienced complete power and electrical failure while in transit on a turning lane. The vehicle was unable to start, or open any windows, and the transmission would not shift back into park or neutral while obstructing traffic near an active railroad. Vehicle battery was replaced and was able to safely put vehicle into gear. Vehicle battery replacement allowed for normal driving; however, from that date on the transmission started shifting harder and jerkier. On December 31, 2025, vehicle was being driven on the freeway to then experience difficult shifting and reduced power. Subsequently, the drive indicator began flashing red and a service transmission indication appeared. There has been at least three instances, since vehicle purchased, where sudden loss of power and control of the vehicle in motion has occured.

The check engine light came on on my Chevy Tahoe, November 2023. The system started to fail it would say for collision not able service ESC system. I would bring it into the shop. They would hook it up to the computer and they would say oh nothing wrong we just reset it. Then it started to shut down and it would say proceed with caution, low acceleration, no front and collision service ESC and I would have. Luckily I was in a city so I took it to the shop. They gave me a print off. Said there was no technician cleared it. I was able to make it home and I made an appointment. They put it on the computer. they said oh nothing‘s wrong. Everything‘s fine then it did it again and I was going through the mountains. I noticed that my car smelled of gas and that the gas gauge was just sucking fuel and I knew this was a problem.. they finally found out what was going on, but I feel the damage had already been done. The part that got replaced was over 1000. I had to pay out-of-pocket for it. Now my vehicle’s engine is shot.

The Onstar module has failed. This part is the Telematic Control Unit or TCU. This is a widespread issue with no ETA of part replacement. This is an issue that is not often covered under warranty especially for vehicles outside of the age/mileage requirement of the company. This should be investigated and issued as a recall.

Dear. My name is [XXX] . Phone # [XXX] . My email: [XXX] On [XXX] my Tahoe suddenly shut off while I was driving over 70 mph on the highway. It was towed to the South pointe chevrolet dealership in tulsa. I was told a fuse had failed and paid nearly $400. On April 17, 2025 they returned my Tahoe and said it fixed. [XXX] When i tried to start engine, then it acted like something almost can't start, then i text dealership and told them situation. On [XXX], the same failure occurred again — again at highway speed — nearly causing an accident with an 18-wheeler. The Tahoe was towed a second time. 2 times i was able to re-start engine drive until i stop then can't start it agian. Both time i smell something burned when i tried to re-start it. On April 21, I texted the service manager about GM TSB N252494000, which describes propulsion loss involving the L87 engine — the same engine in my Tahoe. Two days later, I was sent an invoice for $865.30 for a starter replacement. I was told the repair would not be covered under warranty — despite the vehicle still being under 60,000 miles at the time and the defect appearing to fall under a known GM issue. This is a recurring, life-threatening failure that GM and its dealer have not fixed. The vehicle is still under warranty, yet GM is refusing to cover the repairs. I was driving the truck on the highway and on slower roads. The trucks auto break kept coming on, it could have caused an accident or worse to my family in the truck and others around us driving. This happened twice before but only did it once. Last night it happened to us around 15 times. We had to get off the roads for everyone’s safety. We haven’t had it inspected yet because it just happened. No lights or warning messages showed up at the time. The check engine light came on at the end of all that tho. When I got out of the truck I could smell the burning of the breaks or tires.

Two issues: 1) Vehicle indicates to service safety restraint system yet Onstar diagnostic monthly report says system is fine. The service restraint system notice intermittently goes on and off while driving frequently. Unable to confirm if air bag systems are active while driving. 2) Vehicle was being driven in fast lane around 70 mph and experienced immediate loss of acceleration power while trying to pass semi-tractor. Onboard alert indicates reduced acceleration drive with care. Error code says something is wrong with the coolant control valve. Some servicers indicate they have a backlog of over 1+ month before can diagnose.

TIRES
1 complaint
The tires seemed to lose their tackiness at 44k miles. With tread life being around 48% they were deemed insufficient and needing replaced by the tire shop during an inspection. A solo accident where the vehicle lost control in wet weather warranted an inspection. The tires had even wear for the most part, but were showing cracking around the sidewall. The tires were only 2 years old and had 44k miles on them. The vehicle and tires were always parked in a garage and/or parking structure out of the sun/elements. With the same brand tires having an 80k mile limited warranty, this shouldn't have been an issue.

While driving 70mph on the interstate, my 2022 Tahoe stopped accelerating, the engine seized, and shifted in to neutral at 52,000. I was able to coast to the side of an extremely busy interstate, right before a bridge and wait for assistance. The dealer confirmed this is a problem known to this vehicle. The engine is on backorder, even under warranty. They say an SPAC has been filed and I had to make a claim to GM to reimburse them for the starter, battery block, and battery they decided to replace first. They said it could take up to 3 months to receive a new engine and there was a waitlist for a 10day loaner car. The vehicle had just been at the dealer for a 50,000 mile check up and warranty repair. There were no other symptoms prior to this catastrophic engine failure.

Vehicle reduced power and displayed many errors on the dashboard, including reduced function of forward collision avoidance, reduced acceleration, ESC SES TC. A vibration/rumble was observed (unsure if it was steering assist or propulsion surging), as well as increased engine speed without vehicle acceleration and no engine speed increase while pressing the accelerator. Turns seemed to make the symptoms worse and cycling power on the truck would temporarily clear the faults. Root cause was determined to be TSB 21-NA-149 Cause 3 and diagnosis and repairs took more than a week.

Transmission Failure/Windshield Wiper Failure- While traveling approximately 48mph, the vehicle completely locked up. Tires screeched, vehicle came to a grinding halt. Two of my children were in the vehicle (15yrs and 7yrs of age.) This was sudden and without warning! The vehicle almost rolled, and we were lucky that no vehicles were behind us or we would have been rearended. At that time, we pulled over and the vehicle was towed to the service department at the local dealership. Just days before, the windshield wipers completely failed while driving, in the middle of a downpour. I had to pull the vehicle over and wait for the rain to calm before returning home. Also, the entire display panel went blank while driving, as if the vehicle was turned off. I was unable to determine speed etc. There had been a cascade of odd malfunctions days prior to the major events, the clock stopped working, the compass stopped working. The service department informed me that there was a "Bad Valve Body." I was told by the service manager that he had "never heard" of a vehicle doing this. My children and I are terrified to get back in the vehicle, as we almost had what could have been a fatal accident. I am in contact with GM/Chevrolet on possible remedies. I should note again that there are several other defects with the vehicle, that all seem to surround microchip/electrical components. They all seemed to have failed at once, which leads me to believe there is a larger systemic problem with this vehicle, the processors, and components. Again, this was a sudden cascade of failures. I have video of the windshield wipers non-functional during the rain. I was able to take the video after I had stopped. This is exceptionally dangerous. This vehicle is available for inspection. There were NO warnings lamps or messages. NO insurance has been involved. To my knowledge the dealer has not re-created the failures, but I have video of the panel black out as well.

TRAILER HITCHES
1 complaint
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe used to haul a 2023 Wanco WLTV FD-304 Rev A Lighting Structure. The contact stated the Wanco Lighting Structure had a narrow wheelbase and that the lighting mast failed to fold down, and that all the weight remained at a high level. In addition, the diesel engine was behind the axle instead of on top or behind the axle instead of on top or in front causing the trailer to pull off the hitch. The contact stated that the hitch coupler was bent outward and disconnected from the ball. As a result, the contact stated that the failure caused the trailer to tip over while turning. The San Diego Police Department's Fleet Safety Division diagnosed that the weight hitched on the Wanco Lighting Structure did not support the specification limitation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Tahoe will not start nor will it allow to be jumped by another vechicle. Tahoe is kept in garage this is the 4th time this has happened. On June 1st, I was put in a very dangerous situation while driving on the highway. Out of nowhere, my vehicle’s engine started clicking and immediately converted to a rough in the middle of highway traffic. I was terribly afraid from my life. I was headed to Duluth, GA for a meeting but had turn around and drive 31 miles back in rush hour traffic to Steve Reyman Chevrolet Dealership, in cobb county in this condition. I was extremely stressed; afraid that i could potentially be injured in an accident or fire, because of the engine. Several never before seen warning signals appeared. These signals included Service ESC, Service Traction Control, Forward Collision System Unavailable and the check engine light. I had just had my truck serviced on 5/26, as the dealership had been monitoring the oil consumption of my 2022 Tahoe. By the time, I arrived to the dealership, the service department was closed, so the vehicle was left overnight. I met with the service advisor in the morning and was told there was a cylinder 4 misfire and that a fuel injector and spark plugs was needed. After picking up, my vehicle on June 12th, the issued was not resolved and my vehicle was inoperable. I regularly service my vehicle including recommended service, so I’m not sure how something this extreme could happen. Looking back at my service records, there have been several occurrences where the vehicle stalled out and the dealer blamed the auto/start stop feature or a failed battery. All pretty ridiculous claims for a brand new truck. I’m convinced this vehicle was produced poorly. My truck has 72,325 miles on it, however I came across several forums with new body Tahoes & Suburbans with way less mileage (i.e. 4300 miles) that experienced the exact same issue. Attached, you will find all the times, I brought my vehicle in for service for a major concerning issue.

About five days ago, my air bag sensors came on and a strange message on the 2022 Tahoe display. It said “ Service Safety Restraint System” needs to be serviced. I received numerous messages from the app and computer system saying something is wrong. I took the Truck in to GMC Brandywine service in Brandywine, MD. I was told they couldn’t fix it and GM knows it’s an issue and may do a recall. I am riding with my son and grandkids in an Unsafe vehicle. I was told something is wrong with the computer. The way it’s communicating the issue but nothing seems right with this truck. I had this truck in service for majority of my ownership for numerous defects. This airbag sensor has had issues in Jan 2022 and now it’s back. They are not fixing these issues and could cost me or my family’s life. I will upload the invoice later.
