No power steering at low speed . Makes it dangerous to turn sharp corners. Almost impossible to park in a parking spot if there’s other vehicles.so I park way out away from vehicles . I have had two power steering pumps and lines replaced . And still have the same issue. .

I have now been told that my rack and pinion is leaking by 3-4 different mechanics. In doing a google search, I see that through various years of the chevy traverse, the rack and pinion leaking and needing to be replaced at a high cost (and also being a big safety risk to not replace) is a very common issue in the traverse.

The steering on vehicle is intermittently nearly impossible to turn. GM has a service bulletin that addresses problem and extends warranty. My vehicle is beyond the warranty time but still under the mileage. I called GM and the will not offer any assistance of warranty or cost share. This should be a recall as it’s a serious safety issue!! There’s likely been injuries and deaths because of this very problem. You never know when it may act up and when it does it’s extremely dangerous. GM customer service reference # 9-6768504646. Let me know if there’s something you can do to help and/or if not. Thanks

I GOT A BRAND NEW POWER STEERING PUMP FOR THE MECHANIC TO CHANGE HE TOLD ME HE WOULD CHANGE IT AND STOP THE LEAK BECAUSE MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. HOWEVER I WAS CALLED THE FIRST TIME AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS DISINFECTING THEN MADE ME RETURN THE PART FOR A NEW PART BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS STILL LEAKING. I WENT TO BUYWISE GOT THE NEW PART HE SAID HE'LL CALL WHEN MY CAR IS READY. HE CALLED ME TOLD ME MY CAR WAS READY NOMORE LEAKING , LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY MY CAR STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON THE HIGHWAY IN DANGER OF MY LIFE. AS I CALL THE MECHANIC AND TELL HIM I'M BRINGING MY CAR BACK BECAUSE HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING HE TELLS ME HE'LL LOOK AT IT I GET THERE HE'S TELLING ME IT'S A LEAK. SO YOU LET ME LEAVE YOUR SHOP KNOWING IT WAS A LEAK BECAUSE HE JUST SENT ME FOR A NEW PART BECAUSE OF THE LEAK SO HE TRIES TO TELL ME HE GONNA HAVE TO CHARGE ME AGAIN AFTER I ALREADY PAID HIM FOR THE JOB AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I ALMOST GOT INTO A ACCIDENT BECAUSE HE TOLD ME MY CAR WAS READY TO GO AND IT WASN'T. INSTEAD OF CHECKING THE PROBLEM HE WANTS TO CHARGE ME MORE AFTER HE ALREADY GOT OVER 500$ AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR. I REALLY WANT MY REFUND FOR MY MONEY BECAUSE I GAVE HIM OVER 500$ CASH AND HE LITERALLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO MY CAR AND LIED AND SAID MY CAR WAS READY AND ALMOST GOT ME INTO A ACCIDENT.

Vehicle started having a rattling noise when it was started, coming from the passenger side of the motor at just under 86k miles on the odometer. I have been advised by a Certified Mechanic that the timing chain has stretched, receiving a stored code of P0008 with no Check Engine Light being active. The entire timing chain assembly now has to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle would stall. The contact mentioned that the vehicle required to be revved in order to prevent it from stalling. The contact stated that when the failure occurred a previous time, there was a lot of smoke, and she noticed that the driver's side air filter had caught fire, however, extinguished itself. The contact stated that she did not have to contact the fire department, nor did she sustain any injuries. The contact stated that she contacted the dealer, and she was advised that there were no recalls on her vehicle at the time. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My check engine light started coming on and found out from mechanic there was an issue with the stretching of the timing chain (P0008) . Car started making clanging noises and now needing a $3000 repair . After researching the problem, I have found out that there was an ongoing problem with belts and had recalls for 2009 , which was covered. Gm knowing there was a faulty design tried to reprogram the oil life monitor as a corrective action for the population of vehicles meaning THEY recognized the sensitivity of system. It wasn’t effective enough because now people are having issues at higher mileage and outside their warranty. GM knew this would happen and are now pushing the cost onto their loyal customers. GM needs to show loyalty to their customers and own up to the poor design. My traverse is now drivable and with all the financial difficulties of the pandemic , I can’t afford the repair.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE LT ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN WITH NO WARNINGS AT ALL. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AT 67 MPH IN MID HEAVY TRAFFIC. I POINTED HER TO THE CENTER DIVIDER SINCE I WAS IN THE FAST LANE. WE CAME TO A HALT AND I WASN'T ALL THE WAY OUT OF TRAFFIC. I GOT IT HOME TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AT ALL TO HER, SINCE I HAD JUST HAD HER SERVICED AND WAS TOLD SHE WAS READY TO TRAVEL. MY MECHANIC WAS DUMB FOUNDED AND SHOWED ME JUST IN THE LAST YEAR THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY DRIVER'S WITH MY SAME CAR. AND MINE WAS JUST SERVICED AND A NEW STARTER PUT IS, AS WELL AS THE TIMING BELT LOOKED OVER. OIL CHANGED, TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT, NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS VALVES CLEANED, PLUGS REPLACED, AND FAST TANK AND LINES PURGED AND CLEANED.

A FEW MONTHS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD MY MECHANIC TEST IT AND IT CAME BACK FOR TIMING CHAIN. HE SAID HE KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHEN HE SAW THE CODE BECAUSE HE'S SEEN A LOT OF TRAVERSE'S WITH TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS. I HAD LESS THAN 90,000 MILES ON MY CAR! I CALLED GM BUT THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. LAST MONTH I FOUND OUT MY COUSIN JUST HAD HER TIMING CHAIN REPLACED ON HER TRAVERSE JUST BEFORE 100,000 MILES. THERE ARE ALSO A TON OF FORUM POSTS ABOUT TRAVERSE TIMING CHAIN ISSUES. IT'S ABSURD SUCH A CRUCIAL PART IS FAULT IN SO MANY OF THESE CARS. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED.

PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF REMOVED KEY AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. AFTER GETTING TO FLAT GROUND WHERE IT WOULD NOT ROLL I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT WOULD NOT START. I COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER AT ALL EITHER. HAD A MECHANIC FRIEND LOOK AT IT AND HE MANUALLY PULLED THE LINKAGE FORWARD TO CLICK IT INTO PARK SO I COULD RESTART IT AND MOVE THE VEHICLE. EVERYTIME I STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK NOW IT HAS TO BE PULLED INTO PARK MANUALLY FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HAVE NOT HEARD YET WHAT THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY IS. HEARD 2009 VEHICLES HAD SAME ISSUE AND RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR IT. THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT A GOOD SITUATION. POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS.

IN 2014, I HAD THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUES. GM COVERED ALL BUT $1,000 OF THE REPAIR. NOW AGAIN, 4 YEARS LATER, AND 40,000 MILES ON THE TIMING CHAIN THAT WAS REPLACED, I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. DEALER SAYS TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM OVER THE 5 YEAR, 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, SO THEY TELL ME IT WON'T BE COVERED AND IT WILL ALL BY AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW, AND WE THE CONSUMERS ARE EXPECTED TO FOOT THE BILL. IT'S NOT FAIR, AND NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR TIMING CHAIN WARRANTY FROM TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE EXTENDED SERVICE 11340-C. OR DO A COMPLETE RECALL!!! HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT YET IS BEYOND ME....

The contact owned a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact discovered that the driver's side door, the driver's side seat, and the ceiling had caught on fire and was burned; the windshield was also cracked. The vehicle was unoccupied during the fire. A Fire Department report was filed the following day and the Fire Department inspected the vehicle and determined that the wiring was hot to the touch and could have possibly caused the fire; the vehicle was deemed totaled. The local dealer was not contacted. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle remained at the residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES. FIRST THE DVD PLAYER WENT OUT THEN THE AIR AND HEAT QUIT BLOWING, DURING THIS THE CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY LOSE POWER COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING BUT COULD BE BUMPED BACK ON BY JAMMING ON THE GAS OR RESTARTING THE CAR. THE VEHICLE STARTED LOCKING IN MY KEY AND SETTING OFF THE ANTI THEFT ELECTRIC LOCKDOWN. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND SOME OF THE ISSUES STOPPED BRIEFLY (THE ANTI THEFT AND POWER LOSS) BUT THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINED WITHIN A MONTH AND THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER START OR ALLOW THE BATTERY TO CHARGE VIA JUMP OR CHARGE PACK.

AT 90,000 MILES, A P0008 CODE CAME UP AND THE ENTIRE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WAS $2870.00 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE MOTOR HAD TO BE DROPPED. IF THE VEHICLE WAS A 2009, THEY WOULD HAVE REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY BUT BECAUSE IT WAS A 2010, CHEVY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

THIS IS A DOCUMENTED AND ADMITTED DEFECT BY GENERAL MOTORS FOR THE 2009 MODEL YEAR TRAVERSE VEHICLES, SERVICE BULLETINS 10287C - APRIL 2012 AND 11340A - MAY 2012. OUR VEHICLE, WHICH IS LABELED AS AN EARLY 2010 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE (BUILT IN OCTOBER 2009) WAS BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY (SPRING HILL, TN) AND WITH THE SAME COMPONENTS (3.6L V6 ENGINE) AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE BULLETINS BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE EXTENDED COVERAGE. OUR VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED IN THE SPECIAL PROGRAM.

My Traverse doors will lock, unlock, engine will race high then down shift now it will also shut off after it has done this while driving down the road. The safety issue is if it happens to stop running while on the highway or any road with traffic. Right now I am not able to drive it as it won’t start back up after it dies unless you let it cool off. I had to call my insurance for roadside assistance to get it towed. A

Battery Saver Active light comes on while driving, turns alot off like radio/AC etc to save battery. Voltage goes down. When turned off, it will not start again until I charge the battery. I have replaced the battery 3x, had the alternator tested and vehicle tested 2x by chevy dealership and they cannot figure out what the issue is. There are MULTIPLE traverse owners with same issue except they have replaced their alternators and a few other things as well. This needs to be recalled, figured out as I cannot drive my car, even after a dealership attempts to fix the issue and has no idea what is wrong. Look up battery saving light traverse and you will see how many people have this issue.

AFTER REACHING THE 100,000 MILE MARK, MY TRAVERSE RAN ROUGH, HAD SLOW ACCELERATION, AND SOMETIMES LOW POWER. THE MPG WENT DOWN DRASTICALLY FROM APRX 320 PER TANK TO BTWN 230-250. IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED WITH ROUTINE OIL CHANGES, RECENTLY WITH SYNTHETIC OIL DUE TO THE HIGH MILEAGE. I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND AIR FILTER, WHICH HELPED FOR A SHORT TIME. IT BEGAN REVVING AT HIGH RPMS ON THE FREEWAY AND NOT SHIFTING. AFTER APRX FIVE MONTHS OF EXPERIENCING THE SYMPTOMS PERIODICALLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON AND ALERTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM JUST OVER 108,000 MILES. THE CODE P0008 INDICATED A TIMING ISSUE, RESULTING FROM EITHER A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN OR BAD TENSIONER. THE LIGHT WAS OFF THE NEXT MORNING, BUT RETURNED LATER THE SAME DAY. I DID NOT DRIVE THE TRAVERSE FOR APRX TWO WEEKS IN FEAR OF THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. THE DAY I WAS TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I ATTEMPTED TO START IT AND BLEW THE ENGINE. THE CHEVY MECHANIC CONFIRMED IT WAS A RESULT OF THE TIMING CHAIN. DOING RESEARCH, THERE ARE SEVERAL CASES OF THE 3.6L ENGINE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHING. I AM JUST THANKFUL I WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME IT BROKE. I WANT TO KNOW WHY IT TOOK SO LONG FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AFTER EXPERIENCING THE SIGNS FOR MONTHS. CHEVY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2009 TRAVERSE AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES. THEY NEED TO DO THE SAME THING WITH THE 2010'S AS WELL. THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL INDICATES THE TIMING CHAIN DOESN'T EVEN NEED TO BE CHECKED UNTIL 150,000.

MY 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE WAS FINE UNTIL I MADE A U-TURN AND I HEARD A LOUD NOISE. TH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST $300 TO FIX. I PAID AND HAD IT FIXED THEN NOW TWO YEARS LATER , I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND IT STARTED LOSING GAS AND SLOWING DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. I TOOK TO MECHANIC AND IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN AGAIN!!!!! I HEARD THERE MIGHT BE A RECALL???? I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX SO IT'S JUST SITING IN MY BACK YARD!!!!

I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE LT WITH 67000 MILES. LAST MONTH WHILE DRIVING MY ALL THE CONTROLS STARTED GOING CRAZY AND ERROR MESSAGE WAS SAYING "TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE STABILITRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" SERVICE STABILITRAK / REDUCED ENGINE / TRACTION CONTROL OFF/ PARKING ASSIST OFF MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DIC AND THE CAR WENT INTO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MODE AND WOULD ONLY BLEM TO HAVE BEEN FIXED. NOW TODAY I WAS DRIVING MY CAT TO THE VET WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HERE WE GO AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM AS LAST MONTH. THE STEERING RACK ON THIS VEHICLE WENT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE IN MANY OF THESE VEHICLES OF THIS YEAR. PRIOR YEARS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT AS OF YET THE 2010 HAS NOT. THEY REPLACED MY STEERING PUMP AND TOLD ME THE RACK WAS GONE AND WOULD BE 1700 TO REPLACE. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS IT IS UNSAFE. THE TIMING CHAIN IS ALSO GONE WHICH IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL THAT CHEVROLET IS NOT DEALING WITH. ALTHOUGH THIS DOES NOT RENDER THE VEHICLE UNSAFE IT IS OVERALL A VERY BADLY DESIGNED VEHICLE. MY MAJOR ISSUE IS THE SAFETY AND READ MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SERVICE CENTER, DIAGNOSED WITH 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT ISSUES, REPAIRED 2 OR 3 COMPONENTS ALL WITH THE SAME OUTCOME: THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED ISSUE COMES BACK. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT'S A "NEW ISSUE" EVERY TIME SO AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO FAITH IN THEIR "FIXES", I FEEL THAT WHEN MY WIFE, KIDS, OR ME ARE IN THE CAR I WILL EVENTUALLY BE IN A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WHERE WE ALL DIE AND HOPE THAT AT LEAST THIS MESSAGE WILL COME OUT THEN. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH. TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITRAK OFF CAME ON DASH ALONG WITH PARK ASSIST OFF. I FELT THE ENGINE LOSE POWER AND SPEED DROPPED TO 25MPH. I HAS TO SWERVE AND MISS SEVERAL CARS FROM HITTING ME DUE TO THIS REDUCE SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. PRESSED ON THE PEDDLE TO SPEED UP AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT GO PAST 1ST GEAR ( WELL AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT IT FELT LIKE) I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. TO AFRAID TO DRIVE. MY CAR COULD HAVE GOTTEN ME KILLED. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK,STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I MASHED THE GAS TO GO IT SAID STABILITY TRACK OFF ,MOTOR REDUCED. MY CAR LITERALLY WAS IN THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC COMING. THERE WAS NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF . ANOTHER DAY I HAD TO PULL OVER ON A FOUR LANE BECAUSE IT DONE THE SAME AND WOULDN'T GO. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO ANYONE WHO HAS THESE CHEVY TRAVERSE.I HAVE LOOKED AT MANY REVIEWS AND THIS IS A BIG COMPLAINT OUT OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON THE SAME ISSUE. MY 2010 TRAVERSE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THIS MORNING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE SPEED WAS IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THIS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND IN HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE REAR ENDED BY SEVERAL OTHER CARS. I TURNED ON MY HAZARD SIGNAL AND MANAGED TO REACH THE ROAD SHOULDER AFTER TRAFFIC HAD CLEARED. AFTER STOPPING FOR 10 MINUTES I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO THE CLOSEST DEALER FOR SERVICE. AFTER COVERING ABOUT 6 MILES THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE SPEED WAS REDUCED AGAIN, BUT I MANAGE TO REACH THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED & NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM. I PAID THE SIGNIFICANT COST FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF AND CONTACTED BOTH GM & CHEVROLET DIVISION TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE FAILURE AND ASK FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATES THAT A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF TRAVERSE OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND SERVICE REPS AT BOTH CHEVROLET & GM SAID THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM THEM. DRIVING TO OUR WORK CHRISTMAS PARTY ON THE HWY THEN SUDDENLY 3 CHIMES AND "TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE STEADILY TRACK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED" SHOWS ON DASH BOARD. WE PULL OVER TO THE NEAREST SAFE LOCATION. TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MIN. THEN START AGAIN, WE DRIVE 5 MILES THEN THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN. WE END UP HAVING TO PULL OVER ANOTHER 4 TIMES BEFORE WE REACH OUR DESTINATION. NEXT DAYTOOK IT IN TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP, CHARGED ME 100 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. TOLD ME IT WAS THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING , AND SPARKPLUGS AND INJECTORS NEEDS CHANGED. TOTAL WAS GOING TO BE ABOUT $1200, I DECLINED BECAUSE I WAS TOLD I HAD "BUMPER TO BUMPER" EXTENDED WARRANTY. COME TO FIND OUT NONE OF THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY THIS "BUMPER TO BUMPER" WARRANTY. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM THAT IS FOUND ON A LOT OF CHEVY VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. It happened 2 yrs ago in May. My kids and I were waiting in the vehicle and it cut off all of a sudden. My boyfriend checked it out and wasn’t sure what the problem was. The vehicle got towed. Mechanic said it was a bad ECM. Whomever sold me the vehicle had an Arcadia ECM. The mechanic from the dealership I took it to said it’s on back order. 6 months later he said there’s nothing they can do for my vehicle. So it stayed in my yard for so long. We bought a used ECM from a used auto part. Today my boyfriend had to go on YouTube just to figure out what’s wrong. He was under the hood almost the whole day and now it’s fixed. The only problem is the check engine light is on.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ERIC VON SCHLEDORN CHEVROLET BUICK (805 E GREEN BAY AVE, SAUKVILLE, WI 53080, (262) 284-8000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OUR 2010 TRAVERSE SHUT OFF. IT POWERED DOWN EVERYTHING, IT WOULD START UP AGAIN BUT WOULD SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN. MY SON WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND NOTICED WHEN HE PRESSED DOWN ON A CERTAIN SPOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR THE CAR SHUT OFF. MY CAR ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WHILE THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, I HAVE TO PUT THE KEY IN AND TRY TURNING THE IGNITION OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL ACTUALLY SHUT DOWN, AFTER EACH INCIDENT THIS DRAINS MY BATTERY AND THEN MY CAR REQUIRES TO BE JUMPED IT ALSO HAS TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN AND SOMETIMES AFTER THIS HAPPENS IT PUTS MY CAR IN "LIMP" MODE MEANING THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR WHILE DRIVING IT. THE DEALER CALLED AND STATED THAT IT WOULD COST ME $200.00 TO REPLACE MY IGNITION IN MY CAR WHICH I DID AND THAT WOULD FIX THE ENGINE RUNNING ISSUE AND WOULD FIX THE "LIMP" MODE ISSUE. THE REPAIR LASTED A WEEK AND THEN I STOPPED TO GET GAS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AGAIN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF TURNING THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION IT FINALLY SHUT DOWN, AFTER GETTING GAS IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FOR THE CAR TO TURN BACK ON ( AT THIS TIME IT DID NOT GO INTO "LIMP" MODE) I TOOK THE CAR DIRECTLY BACK TO THE DEALER WHO HAS HAD THE CAR FOR FOUR DAYS NOW. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR TWO YEARS IN MY TRAVERSE AND MY LOCAL MECHANIC DOESN'T KNOW WHY. FOR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME, WHEN FILLING THE TANK WE HAVE TO TURN ALL ELECTRONICS OFF AND THEN AFTER THE FILL WE HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS PEDAL AND COAX IT INTO STARTING. AGAIN, LOCAL MECHANIC DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO THAT WON'T COST A FORTUNE, SO ADVISED TO CONTINUE DRIVING IF WHAT WE DO WORKS. FOR THE LAST MONTH OR SO THE STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON PERIODICALLY AND THEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT IS REALLY COLD. AND AGAIN ON SEPT 1, 2015. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ON NOV 29, 2014, I ONLY HAD IT 3 MONTHS WHEN IT BEGAN TO MESS UP ON ME. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER QUICKLY AND WE HAD TO CROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. I AM PREGNANT AND MY (XXX) YEAR OLD WAS IN THE CAR. VEHICLE WAS TOWED, I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE BACON CHEVROLET IN PALESTINE CHARGED ME $150 TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS AND GIVE ME AN OIL CHANGE SINCE THAT WAS DUE UP. THEY FIXED THREE RECALLS THAT WERE DUE ON MY VEHICLE I HAD OWNED FOR 1.5 YRS, THEN NONE OF THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. AGAIN ON MAY 12TH, YESTERDAY, MY VEHICLE STABILITRAC LIGHT CAME ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE RPM'S WOULD GO TO ABOUT 3,000 ONLY DRIVING 40 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND PARKED THE CAR. MY HUSBAND CAME OUT TO CHECK ON IT AND THE STABILITRAK LIGHT HAD GONE OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP TOM LIGHT CHEVY AND WAS TOLD "THERE HAVE BEEN NO ISSUES WITH THIS", THEY MUST NOT GET THE INTERNET THERE. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE PROBLEM WITH MULTIPLE OWNERS OF BOTH THE TRAVERSE AND THE EQUINOX (MY SISTER HAS ONE THAT HAS THE SAME ISSUE) FROM THE 2009 ALL THE WAY TO 2013 MODEL FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY STEERING SYSTEM IS FAILING IN MULTIPLE PARTS. THIS WAS NO SURPRISE TO THE MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THESE VEHICLES. NOT ONLY IS THIS A COSTLY REPAIR BUT IT CAN ALSO BECOME A HAZARDOUS CONDITION DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING.

OUR TRAVERSE HAS A GROANING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AT SLOW SPEEDS. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY CAME BACK TELLING ME IT NEEDED A NEW STEERING RACK BECAUSE IT WILL GET WORSE AND POSSIBLY I WILL LOOSE MY POWER STEERING ENTIRELY WITHOUT WARNING. IN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND VISITING WITH REPAIR SHOPS IT IS EVIDENT THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY GM WITH A SAFETY RECALL. I PURCHASED MY GM VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP IN SOUTH BURLINGTON, VERMONT, IN SEPTEMBER 2010. I HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR JUST THREE AND A HALF YEARS WITH JUST 55,000 MILES ON IT, AND NOW AFTER A ROUTINE SERVICE VISIT (LUBE OIL AND FILTER, TRANSMISSION FLUID, AIR FILTER, AND WINTER TIRE CHANGE) I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT THE STEERING RACK AND FRONT STRUTS ARE LEAKING AND WILL COST $2,262 TO REPAIR. ABSURD. I WAS TOLD THAT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND MUST BE DONE BECAUSE MY CAR WILL NOW NOT PASS INSPECTION. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY ON A CAR REPAIR, MUCH LESS A CAR THAT IS RELATIVELY NEW WITH SO FEW MILES ON IT. IN ADDITION, ON A SIDE NOTE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON AFTER THE DEALERSHIP COMPLETED THE AIR BAG RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES CONTINUE TO APPEAR ON THE DRIVER CONSOLE UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS. THEY WARN "SERVICE STABILITRAK" ; "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" ; AND, "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" THESE MALFUNCTION ALERT ARE ACCOMPANIED BY A SEVERE DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND NO RESPONSE OR VERY MODEST RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED. THIS ISSUE HAS PRESENTED ITSELF FOUR (4) SEPARATE TIMES IN 2016 AND 2017 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON HIGHWAYS (3 TIMES AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH) AND ALWAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING (32 DEGREES). GM HAS NOTIFIED ME OF THIS ISSUE IMPACTING CARS OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE ON BOARD COMPUTER (OBC) CLEARS AFTER THE 3RD RESTART (ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP) AND PROOF OF THE ERROR VIA THE OBC IS WIPED OUT (ONLY LEAVING ME WITH VIDEO AND PICTURES, WHICH GMC WILL NOT HONOR IN ITS REPAIR PROTOCOL). THIS RESULTED IN A RAPID DECELERATION FROM ABOUT 75MPH TO ABOUT 25MPH. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HIT BY A SEMI-TRUCK BEHIND US, AS THE CAR RAPIDLY SLOWS WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS NOTIFYING OTHER DRIVERS. THANKFULLY, THE SEMI WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY SWERVE INTO THE LEFT LANE TO AVOID HITTING US. WE PULLED OVER AND SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, SUDDENLY SEVERAL DINGS GO OFF AND A SERVICE STABILITRACK LIGHT GO OFF, WITH LIGHTS NOTING THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS OFF AND THAT THE STABILITRACK IS OFF. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT, THEN A SLOW REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER TO WHERE I COULD NOT GO OVER 35 MPH, UNTIL I PULLED OVER AND REPEATEDLY TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR+ BUT BY THE TIME I MADE IT BACK HOME THE ISSUE WAS FINE. UNTIL THE PAST 2 WEEKS. This vehicle is dangerous. Looks great on the outside but horrible on the inside under the hood! Since my son bought one for me it’s had problems with engine revving and not shifting gears, and air conditioner continually going out even after repairs, and power steering leaks. I kept taking it to repair and oddly no technician anywhere could help! Read the reviews and watch the youtubes! This vehicle (all years) should be stripped from the market and considered under lemon law no matter the age! The culmination of my problems happened when leaving town, entering highway and accelerating and clicking cruise control! Immediately the car revved past 7 rpms and out of control! I had all I could do to stop it - then it died completely! The tow truck driver was also in an unsafe situation with many cars passing at high speed when he had to put special lifts on the back wheels! Scary! Towed to local Chevy dealer and without giving us the computer codes and no actual written estimate for repairs, they bluntly said metal shavings in engine and possibly a bearing and $11,500. And it’s typical for transmission problems and steering so up to $18,500! Really?! And if no one could ever detect and fix it before, how can they now? All this with the added comment, we can’t guarantee once we get into it that it will run properly and not need more repairs! LEMON! This is a very unsafe vehicle with notorious problems all in the face of competing with looks of other competitor cars! I praise God I was alone when this happened and no other passengers. If you love your life, family, and others, definitely join me in this recall / removal from market effort. POWER STEERING AND TIMING CHAIN FAILED IN VEHICLE AT 74K MILES. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUES FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED. WHILE IN MOTION ON NOVEMBER 4, 2017, OUR VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF. UPON TRYING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WE HEARD A GRINDING SOUND. WE IMMEDIATELY PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO A NEAR BY REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP. UPON THEIR EVALUATION IT WAS DETERMINED THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS TO INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE, THEY RESPONDED BY HAVING US TO TOW OUR VEHICLE TO DON BROWN CHEVROLET IN SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI. GENERAL MOTORS ASKED US TO AUTHORIZE DON BROWN TO "BREAK DOWN" THE VEHICLE IN WHICH WE AGREED. WE WERE THEN INFORMED BECAUSE OF A COST ANALYSIS BEING PERFORMED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND DON BROWN, A BREAK DOWN OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT NECESSARY AND NOTHING WOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING OR TIMING CHAIN. IT IS WIDELY REPORTED OLD TIMING CHAINS WERE INSTALLED IN 2009-2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHICH HAS LED TO SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURES AND INOPERABLE VEHICLES OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR GENERAL MOTORS TO HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES WITH TIMING CHAINS THAT STRETCH AND CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. I was driving and it it lost power when I started it it did a terrible noise like clicking. Mechanic looked at it and showed me the timing chain is 3 links loose. It was slipping and missing. My children were in the vehicle when this happened. Consumer stated car died it jumped back, jerked hard like it was in reverse then restarted it and got it to the house.

(CHEVY'S WAY OF MORE RECALLS WITHOUT CALLING THEM THAT) BESIDES MANY OTHER CODES, THIS WEEKS P0008 CODE IS A KNOWN TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. SINCE WE TOOK IT IN AND IT WASN'T ONE OF THE SPECIAL ADJUSTMENTS, THEY MADE US PAY FOR THE $90 DIAGNOSTIC, WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE CAR UNTIL I PAID. OFFERED FOR "US" TO PAY AND FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH US, WENT FROM $2,700 TO $863, WHAT A DEAL! IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT! A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHEN TRAFFIC SPED UP, I REALIZED I ONLY HAD ONE GEAR AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60MPH. A SERIOUS PROBLEM ON THE INTERSTATE! SEVERAL HOURS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, BUT THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY -- STRAIGHT TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DEEMED TO NEED $2400 IN TRANSMISSION REPAIR DUE TO THE FOLLOWING FAULT CODES: P182E & C0561. THEY WILL REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION MODE SHIFT SENSOR AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE MECHANIC ALSO INFORMED US THAT WE WILL EVENTUALLY NEED A $700 REPAIR FOR THE CONTROL ARMS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION -- GE HAS CORRECTED A KNOWN FAULT IN THE PARTS. ALL THIS IS ON TOP OF A $3000 REPAIR DONE IN APRIL 2015 AT 92,500 MI. FOR KNOWN STEERING DEFECTS. IN THAT CASE, AS THE TRAVERSE WARMED UP, THE POWER STEERING GOT HARD TO TURN. GM REPAIRED PART OF THE PROBLEM AT NO COST, REPLACING POWER STEERING PUMP AND GEAR HOUSING. ANOTHER MECHANIC COMPLETED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY THAT WAS ALSO PART OF THE PROBLEM. THESE ARE BOTH SUBSTANTIAL DEFECTS AND REPAIRS NEEDED IN A VEHICLE THAT WAS EXPECTED TO LAST MUCH LONGER BEFORE NEEDING MORE THAN ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.

The airbag light on the dash keeps coming off and on randomly. Stays on for a period of time or goes off after a couple seconds. Also for electrical, I was driving down Hwy and the vehicle died and turned back on within 5 seconds. Had to jiggle battery cables for it to come back on. I had two small children in the vehicle and I don’t feel it’s safe to drive any longer.

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FOR PASSENGER AIR BAG CAME ON. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER. THEY COMPLETED THE REQUIRED REPAIR FOR UNDER THE RECALL BUT THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. DEALER ADVISED OF ADDITIONAL FEES TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. WE CONTACTED GM AND RECEIVED AUTHORIZATION FOR THE DEALER TO CONDUCT A DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM. THE RESULT CONCLUDED THE "SDM" HAD FAILED. THE DEALER COULD NOT TELL US IF THE RECALLED CONNECTOR COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. WE WERE REQUIRED TOP PAY $300 TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE FEEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I was driving at approximately 30mph on a road the traction control/stability track light came on and my car lost almost all power. it went from 30 to about 5mph. thankfully i was on a slower road and close to my house so I was able to get home. If I would have been on a highway I could have been killed. i quick google search showed thousands of other complaints with the same problem, my question is why is nothing being done. are they waiting for a certain number of deaths??

I HAVE HAD ALL ELECTRICAL WORK DONE. THE LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT ON MY TRUCK. I REPLACE THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS FREQUENTLY. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN I PUMP GAS. THE TRUCK STALLS AND DOES NOT WANT TO CRANK. I HAVE HAD THAT PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE AND IT IS DOING IT AGAIN.

I KEEP HAVING TO GET THE AIR CONDITIONING FIXED. I HAD ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL WORK DONE AND REPLACED AND A FEW MONTHS LATER IT WENT BACK OUT. I REPLACED THE CONDENSOR. I HAD MORE FREON ADDED AND IT STILL BLOWS OUT WARM AIR. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THE AIR TO NOT WORK. VERY FRUSTRATING! WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, IT STILL DOES NOT WORK.

MY HATCH/LIFTGATE DOESN'T STAY OPEN IT SHUTS AS SOON AS YOU LET GO. EVEN WHEN YOU USE THE AUTO LIFTGATE BUTTON IT DOES THE SAME THING IT OPENS AND THEN JUST SHUTS NOW THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE TWO LITTLE BOYS. ALSO MY POWER STEERING PUMP IS NOT RUNNING.

2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING THE THE VEHICLE ITS NOT CHANGING GEARS AT TIMES AND IT SLIPS. AT TIMES WHEN IT DOES NOT SLIPS, IT STARTS TO MAKE A LOUD MUFFLER SOUND WHILE DRIVING AND MY FOOT IS ON THE GAS AND ITS LIKE FORCING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. IN ORDER TO STOP THE SOUND AND SLIP, I SOMETIME HAVE TO PLACE CAR ON PARK AND THEN PUT ON DRIVE TO RE ADJUST. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIME IT DOES NOT. TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATE THAT THERE WERE ALOT OF CODES FOR THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT NEW(FOR A 2010). I THEN CONTACTED A CHEVY DEALER WHO STATE THAT THERE IS NO COMPLAINT REGARDING TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PLEASE HELP AS I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN THAT IS ON THE VEHICLE WITH ME ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS ISSUE SOMETIMES HAPPEN AND SOME TIME IT DOES NOT. THE STEERING WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE ALSO MAKES A SOUND WHEN TURNING. THE AC BLOWS, BUT THE FROM VENT ONLY BLOW AIR FROM THE BOTTOM AND NOT THROUGH THE VENTS. I HAVE ANTIFREEZE IN THE ENGINE IT HAS BEEN LEAKING FLUID. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE ANTIFREEZE IS IN THE ENGINE AND I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I ALSO PUT A POWER STEERING PUMP IN BECAUSE THE CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES TURNING TWO YEARS INTO ME HAVING THE SUV. I BOUGHT THE SUV IN 2015. IT HAS BEEN INE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER.

THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS INTERMITTENTLY GOING INTO "LOW ENGINE" MODE, WARNING BLINKS FOR ONLY A SECOND THEN THE CAR WILL NOT GO MORE THAN 10 MILES AN HOUR. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS TO ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER DRIVERS- IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY? DOES THIS ISSUE NEED TO RESULT IN A DEATH BEFORE IT IS LOOKED INTO BY THE COMPANY? THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF GEARS- HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WITH NO WARNING SIGNS WHATSOEVER. THE ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN I GO ABOVE 40 MPH, THE THE RPMS GOES TO 9+OFF THE CHARTS AND I CANNOT GO INTO THE NEXT GEAR. SINCE IT HAPPENS ONLY RANDOMLY MECHANICS HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING ISSUE SINCE IT DOES NOT ALWAYS DO THIS FOR THEM. OUR LAST VISIT SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT AT A PRICE THAT IS MORE THAN THE VALUE OF THE CAR, THAT IS HARD TO STOMACH. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE AND CONSIDERING THE 2009 RECALL, MY TWO CENTS IS THE 2010 MODEL MOST OBVIOUSLY HAS SIMILAR MANUFACTURING ISSUES AND A DEEPER INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE. OTHER ISSUES, CAR LURCHES/JERKS WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE FROM PARK. WATER PUMP REPLACED IN MARCH 2013, COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HVAC ACTUATOR ALSO REPLACED AT THIS TIME. 2000 MILE TRIP MADE AFTER REPAIR AND UPON RETURN ENGINE SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE ON APRIL 2, 2013. DIAGNOSIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE 3RD CYLINDER. CAUSE UNKNOWN. OCCURRED DURING MORNING COMMUTE ON HEAVILY TRAFFICKED HIGHWAY. CHILDREN WERE IN CAR WHEN IT STALLED. HAD TO BE PUSHED FROM CENTER LANE OF TRAFFIC AND THEN TOWED TO DEALER. ONE WEEK AFTER CAR RETURNED FROM ENGINE REPLACEMENT, LEAK APPEARED IN HVAC. LEAK REPAIRED AND CAR RETRIEVED APRIL 29, 2013. A WEEK TO THE DAY OF THE CAR BEING REPAIRED, SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. POWER STEERING SEEMED NON EXISTENT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. THIS PROBLEM REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF INTERNAL MODE SWITCH, REPROGRAMMING OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. CAR RETRIEVED MAY 7, 2013. CAR RETURNED BUT STEERING WHEEL STILL DIFFICULT TO TURN AND SQUEAKS WHEN IN USE. PROBLEM SEEMS TO WORSEN WITH INCREASING TEMPERATURES. ADDITIONALLY, RADIO WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT OFF AFTER DRIVER DOOR OPENED. CAR STALLED OUT 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON EITHER. TOOK THE CAR INTO GOODYEAR FOR A CHECK AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THEIR COMPUTER, CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR 20 MIN WITHOUT INCIDENT EITHER. WAS ADVISED TO TRY AND USE A FUEL INJECTION FLUSH. GASOLINE COULD BE SMELLED INSIDE THE CAR AFTER THE STALLING INCIDENT. 9/13/15: WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN DRAMATICALLY. STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE STARTED TO SEEP INTO THE CAR. CAR FINALLY STALLED OUT AS WE APPROACHED THE SHOULDER LANE. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS VERY STRONG AT THIS POINT, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. CAR WAS TOWED TO GOODYEAR. HOOKED UP CAR TO THE COMPUTER AND THERE WERE 6 THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR. WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT INTO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2010. OWNER OF GOODYEAR STORE ALSO INFORMED US THAT PRIOR TO OUR CAR COMING IN, 3 CARS OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR CAME IN THIS PAST YEAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED ALL OF THE OTHER 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE OWNERS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. BROUGHT IN THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP. UPON STARTING UP MY CAR, THE ENTIRE SERVICE AREA STARTED TO SMELL OF GASOLINE. CAR WAS HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER AND I WAS THEN TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2200 TO FIX THE "MULTIPLE PROBLEMS". THE 5 OUT OF 6 FUEL INJECTORS WERE MISFIRING. FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS, SPARK PLUGS, AND MORE NEED TO BE REPLACED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER TURNED ON ONCE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2010, UNTIL THE INCIDENT ON 9/13/15 ON THE FREEWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN CAR. CODE STATED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE I FOUND WHERE GM RECALLED HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES TO INCLUDE CHEVY TRAVERSES DURING THE 2010 MODEL YEAR BECAUSE OF FAULTY FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULES OR (CHASSIS ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES). GM RECALL, BULLETIN # 14515B. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL GM DEALERS IN TOWN WHO GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND ABOUT HOW THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE OF FAULTY PARTS BUT AN "INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN". LONG STORY SHORT I HAD TO PAY 300 DOLLARS TO GET A NEW MODULE PROGRAMMED. THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE IF I WOULD HAVE LET THEM RUN MORE DIAGNOSTICS PRIOR TO FIXING THE ISSUE. I COMPLAINED TO GM WHO SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND REFERRED ME TO NHTSA. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THE MODULE CAN BECOME CONTAMINATED BECAUSE OF WET CONDITIONS. ON JUNE 12, 2017 CHEYENNE WY HAD A VERY LARGE HAIL STORM THAT MY VEHICLE WAS CAUGHT IN WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AND THE MODULE MAY HAVE GOTTEN WET CAUSING THE PROBLEM. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT GM RECALLED THIS SAME PART ON ALL THESE OTHER VEHICLES TO INCLUDE 2010 TRAVERSES BUT FOR WHAT EVER REASON MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS TO WHY THEY RECALLED ALL THESE OTHERS. I STILL HAVE THE FAULTY MODULE IF ANYONE WANTS TO CHECK IT OUT BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME PART AND PART NUMBER WHICH WAS RECALLED. I BOUGHT THIS TRAVERSE USED WITH ONLY 7,000 MILES. AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, THE RADIO AND SCREEN WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND OPENING THE DOOR. IT WOULD REMAIN ON EVEN AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF OR OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DOES NOT GO DOWN USING THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROLS, DESPITE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. I HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE ISSUES WHEN RECENTLY ADDITION PROBLEMS HAVE APPEARED. FOR SOME REASON IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED OR PULLING A HEAVY TRAILER. MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO PRESS HARDER ON THE GAS JUST TO MAKE THE VEHICLE GO. AS A RESULT, THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY. ALSO, SUDDENLY THE AIR CONDITIONER FOR THE DRIVER BLOWS ONLY WARM AIR WHILE ALL THE OTHER VENTS BLOW COLD. THERE IS A CONSTANT CLICKING SOUND BEHIND THE DASH AND I AM ABOUT TO REPLACE A SECOND ACTUATOR. FINALLY, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE LIKE IT IS STILL RUNNING AFTER IT IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION ON AND OFF AGAIN FOR IT TO STOP. GAS TANK DOES ACCURATELY SHOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE LEFT. THE FUEL GAUGE CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATES. I WAS DRIVING AND MY MILE RANGE SHOWED I HAD 54 MILES WORTH OF GAS LEFT. I MADE A STOP AND THE CAR WAS IDLING AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR IT SHOWED I HAD 89 MILES WORTH OF GAS LEFT. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION I GOT THE LOW FUEL WARNING MESSAGE. I HAVE WATCHED MY FUEL GAUGE AND MILE RANGE GO UP INCREMENTALLY WHILE IN PARK. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRACTION STABILIZER CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS COME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED DECELERATING, DOWN TO 45 MPH AND MORE. WHILE THE GAS PETAL WAS BEING PRESSED NO ACCELERATION WOULD HAPPEN. WENT TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ACCELERATION CAME BACK. THE REMAINDER OF MY DRIVE THE TRACTION STABLIZER CONTROL/ABS STAYED ON WITH NO OTHER ACCELERATION PROBLEMS, UNTIL I ARRIVED TO WORK. WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE, WHILE GIVING IT GAS IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD. PUT IN PARK, WAITING, THEN TRIED IT AGAIN. THE TRACTION STABILIZER CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE JUST FINE. OVER THE PAS FEW MONTHS THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED ONLY WITH THE TRACTION STABILIZER/ABS LIGHT INDICATORS NO OTHER PROBLEMS. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIND NO CODES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A USED VEHICLE IN 2010 WITH APPROXIMATELY 29,000 MILES ON IT. I FIRST BEGIN NOTICING STEERING WAS AN ISSUE JUNE OF 2013 WHEN DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED AND TURNING INTO THE DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY ALIGNMENT AND WENT AND HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND ALIGNED AND IT STILL CONTINUED TO BE HARD TO STEER. IT HAS GONE FROM GRADUAL TO DANGEROUS!!!! DECEMBER OF 2013 WENT TO NC AND HAD TO DRIVE ON SOME VERY STEEP HILLS WITH VERY SHARP CURVES AND SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO NEGOTIATE THE TURNS. WENT AND HAD THE POWER STEERING FLUID CHECKED AND IT WAS FINE. JANUARY OF 2014 HAD THE POWER STEERING FLUID CHECKED AGAIN AND WAS STILL FINE. THE STEERING STILL CONTINUED TO GET WORSE WITH FASTER AND SLOWER MPH RATES. MARCH OF 2014 (I HAD MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH ME) WHILE NEGOTIATING A CURVE AT APPROX. 30 MPH I COULD NOT GET THE WHEEL TO TURN TO THE LEFT AND ALMOST WENT THROUGH THE GUARDRAIL ON THE RIGHT AND INTO A CREEK. I HAD A SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST HIT ME AS WELL. I FINALLY GOT IT TURNED IN THE NICK OF TIME. IT REALLY SCARED MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER. GOD WAS WITH US THAT DAY. For several years now, when someone sits on the front passenger seat, the airbag light will intermittently come on. It also comes on if the person gets out of the seat. I took the vehicle to a dealership and they charged me over $100 to diagnose, and said the cable was loose and they fixed it. The next day it started doing this same thing again, but it doesn't happen when the dealer looks at the vehicle to replicate and fix the issue.

Two items: Item 1. Transmission switched to neutral by itself traveling at 65 mph. At about 5-6 seconds after the incident, transmission resumed with no further problem. This has happened 3 times. First time was mid 2022. Second and third times happened in late 2022. Appeared to be an intermittent problem. Took to dealership. It happened to a mechanic who drove the vehicle. Dealership thought they fixed the problem. A dealership mechanic, while addressing item number 2 below in 3rd week of April 2023, experienced the motor going into neutral. They had replaced the ignition switch to possibly fix item #2, and were test driving the car, when during the test drives, the motor went into neutral by itself two separate test drives. Item 2. While driving at highway speeds on a freeway in mid February 2023, the engine stopped (speedometer and RPM gauges went to zero). The whole dashboard went black. Power steering was lost. Was lucky to be able to pull over to side of road and stop. Turning ignition key off and on did not restart the car. Took ignition key out, replaced the ignition key, and the car started right up and we were able to continue our journey. This has happened 3 times total so far since February 2023. It has happened at random times. The dealership has not seen any computer feedback to indicate what is wrong for item 1 or item 2 here. So now, there is a new ignition switch, and we are hoping item 2 will not happen on a freeway, or on a crowded road, or anywhere!. I feel fortunate we had a way to pull off to the side of the road. If I was in a middle lane, I don’t know what could have happened. It could have been a pileup accident.

BUT THEN WENT OFF AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS, WHILE I WAS STATIONARY.THIS IS CLEARLY HAZARDOUS AND MAKES DRIVING TO WORK AND TO MY CHILDREN'S THINGS IMPOSSIBLE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. NOW I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH AND WHAT MOST PEOPLE BELIEVED AND MECHANICS WAS THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR BEING DIRTY, WE HAD THIS CLEANED LAST YEAR. I HAVE HAD THE POWER TRAIN REPAIRED TWICE, ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEN AT COST. I HAVE PAID MORE THAN $2K ON THE REPAIR AND YET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND A CHECK OF THE ERROR CODES REVEALS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED EMISSIONS TESTING AS A RESULT OF THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THERE'S DEFINITELY A DEFECT WITHIN THIS MODEL YEAR'S ENGINE SYSTEM INVOLVING THE POWER TRAIN. I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL. I CAN'T PUT OUT MORE MONEY TO FIX A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM THAT WILL NEVER BE FIXED. THE CAR SHAKES AS IF IT'S IDLE WHEN DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS OFF AND ON PROFUSELY. WHILE DRIVING OUR VEHICLE SOME SENSORS STARTING TO GO OFF AND WE STARTED LOSING POWER TO THE VEHICLE WHICH IN TURN CAUSED A HUGE AND VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE TRAVERSE WE WERE DRIVING SHOWED A TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK SIGNAL. IT BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN. IF WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WE WOULD HAVE WRECKED, LUCKILY WE WERE NOT. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON MANY OTHER TRAVERSE'S AS WELL AS MANY OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN THE CHEVROLET LINEUP, YET THERE IS STILL NO RECALL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE OR IF SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO HURT BEFORE A RECALL IS MADE, BUT SOMEONE NEED TO MAKE THE RIGHT CALL BEFORE ANYONE GETS HURT WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID IT IS A KNOW ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT, WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAKE THIS RECALL HAPPEN, DOES SOMEONE NEED TO SERIOUSLY GET HURT? MY DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW HAD PURCHASED GOOD YEAR TIRES 8 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE LESS THAN 8,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN ONE TIRE SIDE WALL ON THE TIRE FAILED WHEN THEY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY WERE TOLD THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A POT HOLE. TRUCK WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY, DRIVER ACCELERATED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND IT ACTED AS THOUGH IT HAD RUN OUT OF GAS. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC EVALUATED IT AND SAID THE ENGINE IS BLOWN. IT HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE, WITHOUT MISSING AN OIL CHANGE, ALL MAINTENANCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2010. ON THE DAY OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, ONLY SECONDS AFTER SIGNING THE CONTRACT, I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE OF SAFETY RECALLS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 6/19/14. MADE APPOINTMENT FOR 6/24/14 TO HAVE CHECKED AND ALSO OIL CHANGE. DEALER STATED THERE IS A $40 CHARGE FOR PUTTING ON THE TESTER FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT. USED BLUE ONSTAR AND WAS TOLD IT HAD TO DO WITH THE EMISSION AND WOULD AFFECT FUEL GETTING TO ENGINE AND RECOMMENDED REPAIRS WITHIN 7 DAYS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF ON THE WAY TO DEALER. HOWEVER DEALER CHECKED AND SAID EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK AND DID NOT CHARGE. LIGHT CAME ON NEXT DAY. RETURNED TO DEALER FOR LIGHT WHICH HAD COME ON AGAIN AND OFF AGAIN AND ONE OF TWO RECALLS WHICH I HAD NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT. THE VEHICLE IS JUST OVER 4 YEARS OLD AND TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM IS UNACCEPTABLE. IN DOING RESEARCH INTO POWER STEERING FAILURE ON THIS PARTICULAR CHEVROLET VEHICLE, THERE ARE NUMEROUS CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING COMPONENTS. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2012. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE I NOTICED A FUNNY SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED MY POWER STEERING WAS LEAKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUE. DUE TO HAVING THE VEHICLE OVER 30 DAYS THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT THEY STATED I COULD USE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE DECISION AND THEY PAID HALF OF THE DEDUCTIBLE. SO SOME MONTHS LATER I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH TURNING CORNERS AND INTO MY PARKING LOT. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID BEFORE I TALK WITH SOMEONE I HAVE TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO A DEALER AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY AT THIS TIME FOR THE POWER STEERING ONLY FOR THE 2 RECALLS. I THINK WE SHOULD FILE A CLASS ACTION AGAINST CHEVROLET. OUR 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE LTZ IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP REFERENCE HEATER/DEFROSTER NOT WORKING AND ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES THIS YEAR FOR AC PROBLEMS, FLUID LEAKS AND NUMEROUS SENSORS FAILING. THE STEERING PROBLEM WAS DISCUSSED WITH REPAIR FACILITY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. WE HAD TO ASK THE DEALERSHIP PERSONAL TO PHYSICALLY SET IN THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP AND RETURN HOSE WAS REPLACED TOTAL COST $658.93. AT PRESENT THIS HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. APPROXIMATE TOTAL COST THIS YEAR FOR REPAIRS $3100.00. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A GM CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE IN LATE DECEMBER 2010. NOV26'11 @ 37,395 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. IN MAY 2012, I WAS REAR ENDED AT STOP LIGHT AND A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, I STARTED EXPERIENCING SHAKING WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE WHEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR. JUN15'12 THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. NOV30'12 VEHICLE TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE ONCE MORE WITH SAME COMPLAINT OF SHAKING WHEN APPLYING BRAKES OR WHEN COASTING - FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND GAS PEDAL STUCK AT ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGIN TRYING TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE. AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY. WHILE KEEPING BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV RPMS AT THE EQUIVALENT OF ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR. I USED MY RIGHT HAND TO PULL THE ACCELERATOR UP AND THE ENGINE RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE. THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS FOR THE FRONT AND REAR TIRES ARE REVERSED. FOR EXAMPLE, THE WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN TELLING ME FOR A WEEK THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW (PSI 15 OR LESS). I HAVE PUT AIR IN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED BY THE WARNING LIGHT, AND THE TIRE GAUGE WOULD READ ABOVE 35.
