ON 15 NOV 2009, MY CAR STARTED SPITTING AND SPUTTERING, I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GASOLINE. ON 16 NOV 2009, I HAD MY CAR CHECKED BY MY GARAGE, WAS TOLD THAT #5 SPARK PLUG AND COIL WAS BAD DUE TO LEAKING COOLANT AT MY INTAKE MANIFOLD. AFTER CONTACTING MY LOCAL FORD DEALER THINKING I COULD JUST BUY A PART VS. A WHOLE MANIFOLD (LIKE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED), I LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY FORD FOR ONLY 7 YEARS OF AUTO'S LIFE. WELL NATURALLY, MY CAR IS 9 YRS OLD NOW AND I'M FACING A $1100.00 REPAIR BILL. I WAS TOLD THE MANIFOLD COULD RUPTURE AT ANY TIME LEAVING ME AND MY 2 YR OLD GRANDSON STRANDED AT ANY TIME. I FEEL LIKE FORD IS HOLDING ME HOSTAGE. WITH THE SPITTING AND SPUTTERING THE CAR WAS DOING, WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN FORD/MERCURY PRODUCTS, BUT I'M NOT IMPRESSED WITH WHAT'S JUST HAPPENED. I DON'T WANT TO BE "FOUND ON ROAD DEAD" (FORD).

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD CROWN VICTORIA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ACTIVATE. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SEVEN TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE. THE CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.

AFTER CAR WAS DRIVEN TO WORK APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES. MY EMPLOYERS SECURITY DEPARTMENT NOTIFIED ME THAT MY CAR HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE, WHILE PARKED ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER ARRIVING TO WORK. I CONTACTED FORD ONCE IN JAN. '05 AND AGAIN IN FEB. '05 ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH ON MY 2000 EXPEDITION. THEY SAID I WOULD GET IT IN THE MAIL SHORTLY. ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ASAP AT THEIR COST NOT MINE.

SMELLED SMOKE AFTER IGNITION. FOUND ELECTRICAL FIRE AFTER OPENING UP THE HOOD AT A SERVICE STATION. THE ATTENDANT QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. TOWED THE CAR TO PREMIER FORD. OUR INSURANCE ADJUSTER FROM TSC DIRECT INSPECTED MY VEHICLE. HIS REPORT WAS THAT THERE OIL DRIPPING FROM A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE WIRING TO HEAT UP. THUS, CAUSING THE FIRE. WE THINK THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD WARRANT A RECALL. HOWEVER, THEY DENY THE CLAIM BECAUSE WE ARE OVER THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY. Purchased 2 Cooper Endeavor tires July 2022 from a highly popular national retailer, 225/60-R16. The tires were installed professionally by a Ford Dealership. The first of the 2 tires developed a hazardous outer sidewall "egg" within a few weeks of installation (under 1k mi). Having no visible or known damage it was reluctantly replaced by the tire retailer under their provided Road Hazard warranty. Rolling forward to present, following documented tire rotation schedule and documented monthly tire pressure checks, the 2nd Cooper Endeavor "60k mi marketed tire" developed a hazardous outer sidewall egg 29 mo later with only 21.6k mi. driven. The new tire tread depth was 10.5/32 in. and remaining tread depth is 7/32 in. at it's greatest wear area. This 2nd sidewall egg tire was removed by a reputable tire dealership and inspected showing no visible damage to the inner or outer sidewall, tire tread or the rim bead.

VALVE STEM FAILURE THE STEMS WERE CRACKED ON ALL 4 TIRES MY HUSBAND HAD A BLOWOUT AND 7 DAYS LATER HE HAD A FLAT WHICH IS WHEN WE SEEN THE CRACKS. THE MANAGER OF TIRE KINGDOM KNEW OF PROBLEM WITH TR413 LOT BUT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL WHICH WE FOUND OUT ON THE INTERNET. I WAS OPERATING MY VEHICLE ON ROUTE 10 IN PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY. THERE IS NO LIGHT ON THIS ROAD. I WAS HAVING A DIFFICULT SEEING. THE HIGH BEAM SEEMED TO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD SUFFICIENTLY. THE LOW BEAMS WERE GOOD FOR CLOSE UP BUT NOT FAR AWAY. I PULLED THE HIGH BEAM SWITCH BACK TO HIGH BEAM (FLASH HIGH) AND HELD IT SO I COULD SEE BETTER. AS I WAS GOING THROUGH AN "S" CURVE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY LET GO OF THE CONTROL AND HIT THE BRAKES. I LOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR. I CAN'T REMEMBER IF THE MOTOR CUT OFF OR NOT. I ALMOST WRECKED THE CAR. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO POWER CAME BACK ON. I WAS IN THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC WITH NO LIGHTS AND THEN THEY CAME BACK ON. THE MECHANIC OFFERED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, BUT STATED THAT IT WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD TO HIM. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THESE PARTICULAR FUYAO WINDSHIELDS (PRODUCT NUMBER: AS1M848 DOT-459 SOLAR TINT DW1506). THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELDS WERE NOT FACTORY REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS, BUT WERE AFTERMARKET WINDSHIELDS. THE FORD MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THAT THE CONTACT'S WINDSHIELD WAS NOT A FACTORY AUTHORIZED WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT HAD THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD FOR THREE WEEKS AND HAD VISIBILITY ISSUES EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT A SLOW SPEED (>10MPH) WHEN THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT SEPARATED FROM THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF STEERING. *JS

WAS STEERING INTO AN ISLE OF PARKING SPOTS WHEN SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SPIN FREELY AND EFFORTLESSLY. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE CAR BECAUSE IT COULD DO NOTHING BUT GO IN THE DIRECTION THE TIRES WERE TURNED AT THE TIME OF THE STEERING FAILURE, WHICH IN MY CASE, WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT INTO THREE PARKED CARS. UPON INSPECTION, THE STEERING COLUMN HAD COME LOOSE FROM THE REST OF THE CAR, CAUSING A LOSS IN CONTROL AS FAR AS STEERING WAS CONCERNED. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, THE RESULTS MAY HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, NOT ONLY TO ME, BUT TO OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME AS WELL. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED (< 25 MPH) ON A LOCAL RURAL ROAD THAT LEADS TO MY HOUSE, I HEARD A SUDDEN SCRAPING NOISE AND HAD A DIFFICULT TIME TURNING THE VEHICLE INTO MY DRIVEWAY. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRONT WHEEL AND DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. UPON REPLACEMENT THE MECHANIC NOTED THE TIE ROD HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION AND MATERIAL LOSS. 2000 FORD CONTOUR SPORT SE. DASHBOARD HAS WARPED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS INTERFERING WITH THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING PROCESS. WHEN I ARRIVED BACK TO MY VEHICLE, EVERYTHING FROM THE ENGINE TO THE DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETLY BURNT. WHAT A SURPRISE WHEN YOU COME BACK FROM DINNER. I SPOE TO THE WITNESS WHO MADE THE 911 CALL. SHE STATED THAT SHE HEARD A POPPING NOISE, BUT IGNORED IT UNTIL SHE GOT TO HER DOOR AND HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN. SHE STATED THAT WHEN SHE TURNED AND LOOKED, SHE SAW SPARKS COMING FROM THE FRONT GRILL, SO SHE WENT INSIDE TO CALL THE POLICE. THE WITNESS STATED THAT AS SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE POLICE, SHE LOOKED OUT OF THE WINDOW, TO DISCOVER THERE WERE FLAMES TO THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING. MY TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN HOURS, AND THE LAST TIME THAT IT WAS DRIVEN, IT WAS TO THE STORE ON THE CORNER. THERE WAS NO ENGINE NOISE,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON IN THE DASH, OR ANY SIGNS THAT MY TRUCK WOULD GO UP IN FLAMES.

DURING A RAINY DAY I FOUND WATER LEAKING INTO MY EXPEDITION THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND THE TRIM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AS THE THEFT LIGHT WAS BLINKING. WHEN WE WOULD GET IT STARTED AND THEN ONCE IT WAS TURNED OFF, THE HEAT/AIR WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. ALSO, THE ODOMETER NUMBERS WOULD BLINK. DETAILS: THE VINYL COVERING ON THE DASHBOARD IS PEELING AWAY FROM THE UNDERLYING STRUCTURE. IT HAS, OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 5 MONTHS, PEELED BACK FAR ENOUGH THAT IT OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD DEFROST VENT TRIM NO LONGER FITS INTO PLACE. THE DEFROSTER NO LONGER WORKS PROPERLY, AS THE VINYL NOW OBSTRUCTS THE AIR FLOW. THE VINYL IS ALSO IN SUCH A POSITION AS TO POTENTIALLY IMPEDE THE FUNCTION OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE DASH, FORD WILL NOT COVER THE FULL COST OF THE REPLACEMENT ($1200). THE DASH ON A 4 YEAR CAR SHOULD NOT WARP SO BADLY IT LOOKS LIKE A PRINGLES CHIP. TWO DAYS AFTER A RAIN STORM, MY EXPEDITION WAS OUTSIDE TRYING TO START ITSELF. I WAS INSIDE WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE. IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE WAS OVER STARTING THEIR VEHICLE. IT WAS THAT GRINDING SOUND OF THE STARTER BEING OVER TURNED. WHEN I WENT OUT SIDE TO MY DISBELIEF IT WAS MY EXPEDITION!

WINDSHIELD WILL NOT WORK DEPENDING ON WEATHER. ALSO AIR CONDITIONER AND RADIO WILL NOT WORK DEPENDING ON WEATHER. I'VE HAD IT TAKE VEHICLE TO FORD 3 TIMES, THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. REPLACED MARGALIN AND OTHER PARTS. ACCIDENT HAS NOT ACCURRED, BUT I'M TRYING TO PREVENNT ACCIDENT. I HAVE 4 KIDS AND MARRIED. IT'S SCARY FOR WIPERS TO STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING. *AK

THE REAR OUTBOARD SEATBELTS DISENGAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. FORD HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON THE 2001 EXPEDITION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER BOTH HAVE REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. DO TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF THIS ISSUE AND THE OTHER RECALL FORD SHOULD REPLACE THESE SEATBELT LATCHES. *AK

THE ENGINE IN MY 2000 CROWN VICTORIA STALLED AT A STOP SIGN, AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE CAR TURNED INTO A TANK AND COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED. IT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY BECAUSE I COULD HAVE HIT SOME INNOCENT PEOPLE WHICH WOULD HAVE MEANT ANOTHER LAWSUIT FOR FORD. I HAD TO PUT ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ONE FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET THE CAR TO AN AUTO SERVICE CENTER. AT 38,938 MILES, THE CAR NEEDED A NEW IDLE SPEED CONTROL MOTOR, AIR FILTER, AND MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. I BELIEVE THAT THESE PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND WROTE A LETTER TO WILLIAM CLAY FORD, THE CHAIRMAN OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY. WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE OVERDRIVE SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. I FELT THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO CHARGE, BUT THE DEALER CHARGED ME $200 FOR LABOR. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR IS AN ONTARIO-BUILT MONDAY MORNING LEMON AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AUTOMOBILE.

NAR 01/15/2003. THE IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE NOT TO IDLE AND STALL IF THE CONSUME DID NOT DRIVE WITH ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE OTHER ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING THE PART, BUT NOT UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THAT IF HE TAPS ON THE COMPONET IT WILL WORK FOR AWHILE. ALSO THE LOWER TRIM ON THE WINDSHIELD VIBRATED AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO PLACE A CARD BOARD BOX BETWEEN THE TRIM AND THE WINDSHIELD TO STOP THE NOISE. THE RIGHT PASSENGER WINDOW WILL NOT OPERATE WHEN THE SUN HEATS UP AND SHINES ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THE DEALER INSPECTED AND GREASED THE TRACK, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, BECAUSE AS SOON AS THE DOOR COOLS OFF AND IS PARKED IN THE SHADE, THE WINDOW OPERATED FINE. *JB
