Safety recall for the LCM was repaired by lameroux Ford in Brookfield but the bypass was not preformed and the lcm is still acting up. Called and they want to charge me to look at the work they failed to do properly. Brought it to another mechanic who verified the LCM was not bypassed.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front headlights became inoperable creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure might not be related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V861000 (Exterior Lighting). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.

OUR VEHICLE, A 2005 CROWN VICTORIA USED TO TRANSPORT BLIND AND ELDERLY. VEHICLE WAS RECALLED UNDER CAMPAIGN #15S39 TO REPAIR A POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE. LIGHTS WERE WORKING PERFECTLY AT TIME OF RECALL. FORD DID NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE MODULE, BUT THEY INSTEAD BYPASSED A FUNCTION OF THE MODULE BY HACKING/SPLICING INTO THE ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS AND ADDING AN EXTERNAL RELAY. TRULY A BAND-AID. NOW, LESS THEN A YEAR LATER. LIGHTS HAVE FAILED COMPLETELY. FORD TECHNICIANS BLAME FAULTY LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE MODULE, STATING THAT THE WARRANTY PART IS WORKING CORRECTLY, ONLY THE ORIGINAL (SUBJECT OF THE RECALL) PART HAS FAILED. AGAIN, FORD DID NOT ACTUALLY REPAIR THE CAR THE FIRST TIME, THEY ONLY BYPASSED THE LIGHTING MODULE. THERE IS ANOTHER RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE INVOLVING THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FOR THE STEERING COLUMN. I ASKED IF THEY PLAN TO 'FIX' IT BY SPLINTING WITH TWO POPSICLE STICKS AND RUBBER BANDS, THEN REFUSE TO HONOR THE REPAIR WHEN THE ORIGINAL SHAFT FAILS. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FAILED TO RESPOND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD CROWN VICTORIA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAMEY FORD PRINCETON (304-425-2128, LOCATED AT 498 COURTHOUSE RD, PRINCETON, WV 24740) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIGHT CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 164,000.

DESPITE HAVING SUBJECT VEHICLE SERVICED BY A DEALERSHIP UNDER RECALL 13V385, THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT DEVELOPED A CORROSION DEFECT AFTER FOUR YEARS WHEREIN IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOWER SPEEDS AND A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WAS AUDIBLE FROM WITHIN THE CABIN EVERY TIME THE TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL PASSED THE 6 O'CLOCK POSITION. OWNER INVESTIGATED: UPPER UNIVERSAL JOINT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS BEGINNING TO SEPARATE, SHIFTING OUT OF PLACE APPROXIMATELY 3/16THS OF AN INCH WHEN STEERING WHEEL WAS IN THE 6 O'CLOCK POSITION BEFORE SLAMMING BACK INTO PLACE CAUSING A LOUD 'CLICK' WHICH REVERBERATED INTO THE CABIN THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN AND SOUNDING MUCH WORSE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RECALL SERVICING DEALERSHIP; RECALL 13V385 WAS ONLY WARRANTIED FOR 3 MONTHS OR 5000 KILOMETRES (3125 MILES). OWNER WAS CHARGED $888.31 CAD ($675.95 USD) FOR REPAIRS ON A RECALL PART EXPERIENCING THE SAME CONDITIONS FOR WHICH THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. OWNER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT TO INQUIRE ABOUT RECALLED PARTS EXPERIENCING RECALL CONDITIONS, WAS ADVISED OF THE RECALL WARRANTY AND THAT PAID SERVICE RESULTS IN 2-YEAR, UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY.

LIGHTS FAILED WHEN DRIVING DOWN DARK FREEWAY, NEARLY DROVE OFF ROAD, STOPPED CAR, HEARD CLICK AND LIGHTS CAME BACK ON, BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER, WENT OFF AGAIN. AS I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD I HEAR A CLICK AND THEN THEY COME BACK ON, BUT MORE MINUTES THEY GO OFF AGAIN, CONTINUAL INTERMITTENT ON/OFF. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE IN HEADLAMP SETTING, OR AUTOLAMP CONTROL, LIGHTS DON'T WORK WHEN IN THIS CONDITION IN HIGH BEAMS. FORTUNATELY THEY ARE WORKING WHEN HELD TOWARD STEERING WHEEL IN FLASH-TO-PASS, SO HAVE BEEN HOLDING THE LIGHTS ON THIS WAY FOR MONTHS. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THIS IS AN ONGOING CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. 2005 FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE INTERCEPTOR WITH 47,410 MILES BEGAN HAVING REAR AXLE NOISE. UPON SERVICE IN OUR SHOP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS HAD FAILED AND WORN INTO THE AXLE SHAFT. CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THERE WAS NO WARRANTY LEFT. WE THEN STARTED CHECKING THE OTHER 10, 2005 CROWN VICTORIAS FOR THIS ISSUE. SO FAR OUT OF THE ENTIRE 11 CARS WE HAVE CHECKED 6 AND THEY ALL ARE SHOWING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT WHEN THESE CARS GET BETWEEN 45,000 TO 50,000 MILES IT SHOWS THE WEAR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED AND THEY DIDN'T OFFER BUT $100 ASSISTANCE, JUST THE PARTS IS OVER $450 EXCLUDING LABOR. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $750 TO REPAIR IN THEIR SHOP. Safety Recall 19S35b Processor Lighting cont was done on 3/22/2021on my working part. The original module was working fine. Now the new light module is faulty. Dealership took out part and tested it. Determined that is was faulty causing my lights to fail. Dealership and Ford has denied covering a replacement of the failed part. It would seem that the part should be still covered since it is a part that was part of a recall.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the exterior lights became inoperable. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the Lighting Control Module (LCM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign number 15V861000 (Exterior Lighting). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

ON JULY 24, 2006 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:15 PM I PICKED UP MY CAR, A 2005 CROWN VICTORIA FROM DON BOHN AUTOPLEX LOCATED AT 3737 LAPALCO BLVD, HARVEY, LA. 70058. I HAD DROPPED OFF MY CAR ON SATURDAY, JULY 15, 2006 TO HAVE THE AC CONTROL SWITCH REPLACED, LEFT FRONT TIRE REPAIRED AND RIGHT FRONT DOOR RATTLE DIAGNOSED. AFTER LEAVING THE FORD DEALERSHIP, I PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD TO MEET A FRIEND FOR LUNCH. THE RESTAURANT WAS JUST A FEW MILES FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I PULLED INTO THE ENTRANCE TO THE CASINO/RESTAURANT AND STOPPED AT A 4 WAY STOP. AFTER REMOVING MY RIGHT FOOD FROM THE BRAKE AND BEGINNING TO PROCEED, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AT A VERY HIGH RATE. I AGAIN THREW THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I NOTICED DURING THIS SECOND INCIDENT THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS LIGHTED SYMBOLS THAT CAME ON THE DASH. IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC AND INTO A AREA FREE OF PEDESTRIANS, I STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED A THIRD TIME. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND MANAGED TO GET THE CAR PARKED. I WENT INTO THE CASINO AND WAS ASSISTED BY AN EMPLOYEE IN CALLING THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE INCIDENTS. THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, WHICH I DID. FOUR HOURS LATER A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND TOWED MY CAR TO DON BOHN FORD. THE SPARK PLUGS HAVE BEEN EJECTING THEMSELVES FROM THE ENGINE, TAKING PART OF THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH THEM MAKING REPAIRS DANGEROUS AND COSTLY. SOMETIMES THE SPARK PLUG STAYS ATTACHED TO THE COIL, CAUSING FUEL VAPORS TO IGNOTE, BUT MOST OF THE TIME THEY RIP THE COIL PACK AND BOOT OUT WITH THEM. PAINT DEFECT: BUBBLING AND PEELING. PAINT APPLIED WITHOUT APPLYING PRIMER TO ADHERE PAINT. THE 2005 LX MODEL WAS PURCHASED IN 2006. THE VEHICLE STANDS CURRENTLY AT 71,000 MILES. STRUCTURE PAINT BEGINS TO BUBBLE AND PEEL OFF. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND NEITHER HAS IT INCURRED ANY STRUCTURAL DAMAGES. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO THERE WAS A NOTICE PAINT MISSING, THE SHAPE WAS ROUND AND DIME SIZE ON THE HOOD AND ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION INDICATED THAT THE PAINT HELD NO PRIMER UNDERNEATH IT TO ADHERE PAINT TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. DURING NORMAL BRAKING, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY FATHER AND I BOTH EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE BRAKING. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE FACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ON OUR RENTED FORD CROWN VICTORIA IS TOO CLOSE TO, AND AT THE SAME LEVEL AS, THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING BOTH PEDALS TO EASILY BE PRESSED AT THE SAME TIME. In October 2022 a mechanic successfully replaced a dark gray-colored "seat belt retractor assembly and buckle" on the passenger side of my Ford Crown Victoria in response to an Air Bag dashboard light Lamp Fault Code of "3-4" and a Diagnostic Trouble Code of "B2292" ("Restraint System Seatbelt Pretensioner Error"). Such an error renders the entire supplemental restraint system inoperative and necessitates immediate repair service for safe vehicle operation. In September 2023 the Air Bag light displayed a "3-3" LFC with the "B2292" DTC indicating Restraint System Seatbelt Pretensioner Error on the driver's side. The mechanic and I contacted a Ford dealership for a replacement dark gray-colored seat belt retractor assembly and buckle and were advised that Ford had discontinued manufacture of the part in dark gray and other colors! Ford only offered a tan seat belt assembly. It seemed irresponsible that Ford would discontinue production of such a vital safety part for a vehicle that is used as a personal vehicle, as well as a fleet vehicle for law enforcement organizations, and for state and municipal governments. Without a replacement I could not even pass the state safety inspection to sell the vehicle. To continue to operate the vehicle safely I have no choice but to have a tan seat belt and its accompanying tan interior components installed in a vehicle with a dark gray interior. Please exert whatever influence you have to compel the Ford Motor Company to resume production of the dark gray and other colors of the seat belt retractor assembly and buckle. Thanks.

I WAS RESPONDING AS A VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE EMT FROM MY RESIDENCE TO THE FIRE STATION FOR AN EMERGENCY CALL WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP. UPON COMPLETION OF THE CALL I LIFTED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED THE LOWER JOINTS OF THE STEERING SHAFT WERE RUSTY AND CORRODED. I SPRAYED THE JOINT WITH WD-40 AND TURNED THE STEERING BACK AND FORTH. IN PREPARATION FOR A TRIP TWO DAYS LATER I WAS CHECKING THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE "EXHAUST HEAT SHIELD" LYING ON THE FRAME BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND FRAME. IT WAS THEN I FIGURED THE PART HAD COME OFF AND JAMMED BETWEEN THE STEERING SHAFT AND THE FRAME CAUSING A MOMENTARY LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I HAVE NOT REPLACED THE HEAT SHIELD. AFTER A FACTORY RECALL REPLACEMENT OF THE LOWER SHAFT RESULTED IN THE CAR STEERING LIKE NEW WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT FOR A MONTH OR SO. I THEN NOTICED THE STEERING SEEMED TO BIND AGAIN AT TIMES. I LOOKED AND THE UPPER STEERING SHAFT IS CORRODED SO I SPRAYED THE U JOINT CONTAINED IN THE UPPER SHAFT WITH LUBRICANT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SAID THE UPPER SHAFT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL SO I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. THE UPPER SHAFT JOINT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS THE LOWER SHAFT. CORROSION IN THE U JOINT IS CAUSING THE NEEDLE BEARINGS TO NOT OPERATE PROPERLY RESULTING IN MORE DIFFICULT TURNING OF THE STEERING. I LUBRICATE THE JOINT AT TIMES. I BELIEVE THE "UPPER STEERING SHAFT" SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL DUE TO CORROSION EFFECTING THE PARTS DUE TO DESIGN NOT SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT CONTAMINATES FROM ENTERING THE STEERING U JOINTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES HARD SO THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RUN AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. UPDATED 8/30/11 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE AT A STOP, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, HE EXPERIENCED A HIGH ENGINE ACCELERATION WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKES WOULD HARDLY HOLD THE CAR IN PLACE. I BOUGHT FORD VICTORIA CROWN MODEL 2005 FROM AN INDIVIDUAL ON DEC. 2009. IT WAS POLICE CAR. AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WITHIN A MONTHS TIME I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I LOST CONTROL AND THE BRAKE DIDN'T WORK. IT DIDN'T STOP BY HITTING ONCE, IT WAS AMAZING HITTING BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN. MY CAR OR EVEN THE OTHER CAR DIDN'T HAVE ANY BODY DAMAGE AND AFTER 1 HOUR I STARTED DRIVING AND ON MY WAY HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I GOT OUT OF THE ROAD BUT NO ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GARAGE AND I PAID $800.00 FOR THE MAINTENANCE. I USED THE CAR FOR A TAXI CAB. AGAIN I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I HAD TO TAKE A CUSTOMER TO THE AIRPORT AND BEFORE I GOT THERE, SMOKE WAS COMING OUT AND I STOPPED THE CAR IN THE AIRPORT GARAGE. THIS TIME IT BECAME COMPLETELY OUT OF SERVICE AND I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THE RESULT AS THE MECHANIC TESTED SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS TOTALLY OUT OF USE AND NEED ANOTHER ONE. AGAIN TWO MONTHS BACK WHILE DRIVING I LOST CONTROL OF THE BRAKE AND STOP OUT OF THE ROAD. RECENTLY ON SUNDAY DEC. 19, 2010 MAJOR ACCIDENT HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING I COULDN'T CONTROL THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. SO, I HIT THE FENCE ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GARAGE AND WHEN THE MECHANIC TESTED HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, EVEN HE DID A ROAD TEST. I WAS ADVISED THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS IF I START DRIVING . HE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE#07V079000, WHEELS, HOWEVER, DURING INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AN ACTIVE POLICE FORD/CVPI THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL NOTICE. THE WHEELS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.

THE DRIVER WAS INJURED AND FLOWN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED CAUSING THE ACCIDENT. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROAD. THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR EAGLE WITH 6000 MILES. SHE FUSED AND THEN THEY REPLACED IT WITH A CHEAP BATTERY THAT DID NOT FIT THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE ON THE PASSENGER BACK SIDE HAD NO TREAD, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SKID WHEN GOING UP HILL. UPDATED 1/31/2007 - THE REAR DEFROST WAS INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE GRID WAS BAD AND SUSPECTED A BAD CONNECTION AT THE GLASS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE HORN WAS NOT WORKING. THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE HORN, AND REPROGRAMMED THE CCM TO THE LATEST CALIBRATION. SINCE THE REPAIR SHE HAD TO PRESS FIRMLY, IN THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE HORN SYMBOLS. SOMETIMES SHE HAS TO PRESS ON BOTH HORN SYMBOLS TO GET THE HORN TO WORK. THE DEALER SAID AFTER TIME AND USE THE HORN SHOULD BECOME EASIER TO USE. ANOTHER CONCERN SHE HAD WAS WITH THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN.
