AFTER DROPPING OFF MY CHILDREN AT DAYCARE I STOPPED AT THE STORE. WHEN I GOT BACK INTO MY CAR AND STARTED IT, IT MADE A LOUD POP LIKE SOMETHING HAD CAME OFF. SO I PROCEEDED TO TURN THE IGNITION ON AND THEN SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE TOP VENTS AND THE TRUCK BEGAN MAKING A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING. I WAS SCARED AS HELL AND I THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS ABOUT TO BLOW UP FROM THE SOUND OF IT. SO I CALMED DOWN AND DROVE TO THE AUTO SHOP THANKFULLY DOWN THE STREET. WELL MY SPARK PLUG HAD BLEW OUT THE HEAD AND THAT'S WHERE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM. I HAD JUST REPLACED THE #5 COIL AND PLUG WITH FORD ON FEBRUARY 23, 2012 AND THAT WAS $340.61. I AM BARELY MAKING IT FINANCIALLY AND TO READ ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK AND FORD NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SITUATION IS DISHEARTENING. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF THREE CHILDREN AND LIVE IN AN AREA WITH NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SO I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND NO WAY TO GET TO WORK AND SUPPORT MY FAMILY, NOW WHAT DO I DO? ITS AMAZING HOW THIS DEALERSHIP CAN SWOOP YOU IN AND TAKE YOUR MONEY AND REQUIRE YOU TO MAKE YOUR PAYMENTS ON TIME BUT WON'T PROVIDE YOU WITH A SAFE VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE TO GET A CAB TO PICK MY KIDS UP FROM DAYCARE BECAUSE I CAN'T DRIVE MY TRUCK, NOT TO MENTION WHEN YOU GET INSIDE IT SMELLS LIKE PURE SMOKE WHICH MAKES IT SCARY TO EVEN WANNA TURN THE THING ON. VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE EXHIBITED A POPPING NOISE AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE NUMBER TWO SPARK PLUG. THE NUMBER TWO SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD HOLDER. THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. A FAILURE WAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED WITH THE NUMBER SEVEN SPARK PLUG, WHICH ALSO BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD HOLDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

A SPARKPLUG BLEW OUT OF MY ENGINE AND ANOTHER WAS LOOSE. THE PLUG IN QUESTION RUINED THE THREADS IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, AND WILL REQUIRE $700-$1000 FOR THE DEALER TO FIX. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH PROVES FORD HAD BEEN HAVING A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS, YET HAS DID NOTHING ABOUT IT !! *TR

MY VEHICLE SUFFERED SPARK PLUG EJECTION. UPON PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POP OR BANG AND BEGAN TO LOSE POWER IMMEDIATELY. UPON INSPECTION, THE COIL-OVER-PLUG ON THE NUMBER 3 CYLINDER WAS BROKEN FROM THE BRACKET AND A LOUD CLANKING NOISE CAME FROM THE ENGINE IN THAT SPOT. AFTER UNSUCCESSFULLY TRYING TO REPLACE THE COIL, THE SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF THE SOCKET WITHOUT AND FORCE OR TOOLS. THE SPARK PLUG CAME OUT WITH THE COIL. THE AREA HAD TO BE RETHREADED AND REPAIRED BUT WAS OUT OF SERVICE FOR CLOSE TO THREE MONTHS. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A BLOWN SPARK PLUG THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN HIS APARTMENT COMPLEX, HIS VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD HEARD A LOUD BOOM FROM INSIDE WHICH PROMPTED HIM TO CHECK ON HIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 AS THE FIRE SPREAD TO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PARKING LOT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH, A TOTAL OF FOUR VEHICLES WERE COMPLETELY BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE MARSHALS WERE ALSO CALLED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. ALL VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE FIRE REMAINED AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX PARKING LOT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT HIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN PLACED UNDER RECALL FOR NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 05V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) BUT WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS EVER A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.

WHILE MY TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I WERE SITTING IN THE VEHICLE (VEHICLE WAS OFF) A PASSERBY KNOCKED ON THE WINDOW INFORMING ME THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER HOOD AND BELOW THE CAR. COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR A FAULTY SPEED CONTROL SWITCH KNOWN TO CATCH FIRE AND EVEN THOUGH I HAD RECENTLY HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AT A FORD DEALERSHIP, IT WAS NOT ADDRESSED OR TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THIS FIRE. TOTALLY NEGLIGENT! WE COULD HAVE BURNED UP IN THE CAR WITHOUT ANY WARNING.

VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO AN INCORRECTLY INSTALLED HEAD LIGHT DUE TO A CRACKED PLUG ASSEMBLY. VEHICLE WAS IN A FAST-FOOD DRIVE THROUGH WHEN THE SMOKE AND SUBSEQUENT FLAMES WERE SEEN. DUE TO AGE OF THE VEHICLE THE TASK OF CHANGING THE LIGHT BULB WAS FARMED OUT TO LOCAL OIL CHANGE SHOP. WHILE CHANGING THE PLACING THE NEW BULB INTO THE PLUG ASSEMBLY THE THIN PLASTIC BROKE KEEPING THE BULB FROM SEATING PROPERLY. TESTED OKAY ON REASSEMBLY BUT ONCE NIGHT CAME THE LIGHT WAS ON FOR ONLY 15 MINUTES AND IGNITED THE INNER HEAD LAMP ASSEMBLY AND SUBSEQUENTLY MORE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FORTUNATELY, THE FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT CAME OUT WITH AN EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS HURT HOWEVER, HAD THE FIRE OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, IN A PARKING LOT UNATTENDED, OR IN THE HOMES GARAGE, THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR WORSE.

MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH CONTINENTAL 265/70 TIRES PURCHASED AT WAL-MART ON 8/05 STARTED VIBRATING REALLY BAD ON 5/07, WENT TO WAL-MART FOR BALANCE & ROTATE AND TIRE INSPECTION. WAL-MART SAID TIRES LOOKED FINE. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 1 TIRE SEPARATED. GOT IN REPLACED WITH THE SAME BRAND. 6/07 ANOTHER TIRE SEPARATION ON FREEWAY. *JB

1. FORD FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL: 12/2/02 ALL TIRES REPLACED AS PER RECALL REQUIREMENTS. MILEAGE: 15750. 2. FRIDAY, 4/21/2006: DURING A ROAD TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND, MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE SHREDDED. I HEARD THUDDING NOISES, PULLED OFF THE I-75, CHECKED AROUND MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER A FEW MILES LATER, I REALIZED SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG AND PULLED OFF OF THE FREEWAY. I CALLED 911 SOMETIME BETWEEN 3 AND 3:15 PM 4/21/06 FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. TIM THE TOWMAN TOWED MY VEHICLE OFF THE FREEWAY TO A NEARBY GAS STATION. THERE HE OBSERVED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD SHREDDED. THE SHREDDING PROCESS CAUSED DAMAGE AS FOLLOWS: A) RIGHT FRONT BUMPER NOW DANGLES BECAUSE SCREWS SHEARED OFF APPARENTLY; B) TIRE CASING NEEDS TO BE RESECURED, SINCE IT WAS FLAPPING. C) THERE MAY BE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE AS WELL AS CABLES. EST. MILEAGE: 47600. 3. TIM THE TOWMAN REPLACED THE SHREDDED TIRE WITH MY FULL-SIZE SPARE. HE USED TWINE TO TEMPORARILY SUPPORT THE RF BUMPER. HE TEMPORARILY SECURED THE TIRE CASING. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER NO-SERVICE. THEY SAID THAT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WOULD NEED TO CORROBORATE MY STORY BEFORE THEY COULD DETERMINE WHETHER FORD WAS LIABLE TO REPLACE THE SHREDDED TIRE (AND POSSIBLY REPLACE ALL OF THE OTHERS, AS WELL), AND TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS NEEDED ON THE FRONT BUMPER AND CASING. THE TALLAHASSEE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS A POOR REPUTATION, SO I WAS PERMITTED TO TAKE MY EXPEDITION TO THE LINCOLN-MERCURY DEALERSHIP. AFTER HEARING MY STORY AND EXAMINING MY VEHICLE, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT FORD OFFERED NO WARRANTY ON THE REPLACEMENT TIRES. EVEN IF THEY HAD REPLACED DEFECTIVE TIRES WITH DEFECTIVE TIRES, THEY DID NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. HE OFFERED TO GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON MICHELIN TIRES (FOUR) TO REPLACE THE CONTINENTAL TIRES. HE SAID THERE WAS LITTLE TREAD LEFT ON THE REMAINING TIRES. THESE TIRES HAVE SLIGHTLY OVER 30,000 MILES ON THEM. *NM

WITH ALL THE TALK ABOUT THE TOYOTA ACCELERATION PROBLEM, IT MADE ME RECALL TWO TIMES WHEN MY FORD EXPEDITION DID THE SAME THING. IT WAS ONLY MOMENTARILY THOUGH AND DID NOT SURGE UP TO HIGH SPEEDS. WITHIN MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO SPONTANEOUSLY GO INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. INITIALLY I THOUGHT I HAD HIT THE SWITCH WHICH IS NOWHERE NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT SEEMED FINE. IT BEGAN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. ON ONE OCCASION IN 2003 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND IT LOCKED UP. IT WENT INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND LUCKILY I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT BECAUSE THE FORCE WAS COMPARABLE TO SLAMMING ON MY BRAKES. I DROVE OFF THE FREEWAY AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE BUT WAS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. RELUCTANTLY I DROVE IT HOME. I WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THROUGH A PARKING LOT IT DECIDED TO GO INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I COULD NOT DRIVE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS PROBLEM WITH THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE THAT COULD BE FIXED BUT THAT MY WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT. ABOUT A THOUSAND DOLLARS LATER I DROVE OFF WITH MY VEHICLE BELIEVING THAT IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY. WITHIN LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF THE REPAIR I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN AND MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE KICKED IN. ONCE AGAIN SAVED BY THE SEATBELT, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIRS WERE ONLY COVERED FOR 1 YEAR OR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES (NOT SURE ON THE MILES ?5000). THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD WAS HAVING. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS BUT ALL THEY COULD DO WAS KEEP FIXING IT. THE DEALERSHIP EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT WHEN IT STARTS TO BIND UP TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE. VERY HELPFUL WHEN YOUR DOING 65 ON THE FREEWAY. STRUCTURE

On the second row seat, passenger side door will not open using the door handle with the child safety switch in lock or unlock position. It will open from the outside handle. This is a safety concern. In case accident happen or fire in the vehicle occurs, the second and third row passengers can not get out of the vehicle fast enough for their safety. This has not work for over a year now.

I SENT THIS REQUEST TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY-I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON BOTH REAR DOORS ON MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE DOORS LOCK BY THEMSELVES AND CANNOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE. WINDSHIELD LEAKING DUE TO FAULTY SEALANT. HAVE ALL KINDS OF SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOW. WATER LEAKS DIRECTLY INTO GEM MODULE WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING ON AND OFF ALL FUNCTIONS OF MY FORD EXPEDITION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD ILLUMINATE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARRANT, THE RADIO WOULD ENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD ACTIVATE WITHOUT THE KEYS BEING IN THE IGNITION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND THE WINDSHIELD WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR DIAGNOSE WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE WITHOUT AN ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000.

ON 3 OCCASIONS THIS YEAR,2005 ( JULY, NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER) WHEN HUMIDITY IS REALLY HIGH, AND/OR SNOW WOULD COVER MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, I WOULD HAVE UNEXPLAINABLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. EITHER MY HEADLIGHT WON'T SHUT OFF, THE BLOWER WOULD NOT SHUT WHEN TURNING ENGINE OFF, POWER WINDOWS WONT WORK, SEATED HEAT WON'T WORK, ABS LIGHT WOULD TURN ON. AN UNUSUAL TICKING SOUND UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL COULD BE HEARD INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER A DAY OR TWO, THE PROBLEM SEEM TO SELF RESOLVE. THIS THEN MAKES IT DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERS AREN'T ABLE TO HELP ME IF THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT IN DECEMBER WAS THE MOST FRUSTRATING. I CONSULTED 3 FORD DEALERS AND NON OF THEM WOULD FIX IT FOR ME. I HAVE 78,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND I DID BUY THE PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 100,000. THE DEALER SAID, WE WON'T FIX YOUR PROBLEM BECAUSE LEAKS IS NOT COVERED IN YOUR WARRANTY AND THAT IS THE CAUSE OF YOUR PROBLEM. I EVEN POINTED OUT TO THE DEALERS THAT I READ ON NHTSA WEB SITE THAT THIS WAS NOT AS UNCOMMON AS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS ( REFERRING TO NVS-212CAG EA05-015). NONE OF THEM WOULD HELP ME WITHOUT ME PAYING AT LEAST $600 JUST TO CHECK THE TRUCK ,BECAUSE THEY SAID IT REQUIRED OPENING THE DASH BOARD. *JB

ON 4/14/04, (33,500 MILES) AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING EVEN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. RADIO. CLOCK AND WINSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. APPARENT CAUSE: WATER LEAK. 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WAS BEING DRIVEN AROUND 40MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. WITH THE HELP OF MY PASSENGER, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL HARD ON STEERING WHEEL AND GET IT TO TURN OFF ROAD AND INTO PARKING LOT. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CROSS SEVERAL LANES SAFELY ONLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC CLOSE ENOUGH TO BLOCK OR CHALLENGE THIS EMERGENCY NEED. BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND WELL EITHER. ACCIDENT AND INJURY COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED. AIR CONDITIONING REMAINED RUNNING LIKE NORMAL BUT THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER INCIDENT BEGAN. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED AN INSPECTION LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE TIE RODS INSPECTED. THE CONSUMER LATER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND ASKED WHY? SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT AND WHY SHOULD THE TIE RODS BE SUSPECT TO FAILURE AT ONLY 68,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO COMMENT. BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUG FROM 2001 FORD EXPEDITION TRITON 4.6L ENGINE DURING OPERATION ON A PUBLIC ROAD. THE SECOND SPARK PLUG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE ROAD. THIS MADE A LOUD "BANG" SOUND AS IF A TIRE BLEW OUT. THE LOUD SOUND CONTINUED LIKE A LOUD EXHAUST LEAK AND GASOLINE VAPORS WERE IMMEDIATELY PRESENT IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DRIVER SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE AFTER ATTEMPTING TO SAFELY PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE AVOIDING MOVING TRAFFIC. WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE TO VIRGINIA, MY 2001 EXPEDITION POPPED A PLUG FROM ITS ENGINE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 200 MILES BECAUSE THE SMELL OF FUEL IT WAS LATE FRIDAY AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO UNTIL MONDAY. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IN DEARBORN, MI. I WAS TOLD BY THE FEMALE OPERATOR (CHARLOTTE) TO BRING MY VEHICLE TO BOWDITCH FORD AND TO HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTICS TEST. MY VEHICLE WENT OFF TO THE SHOP VIA FLATBED AS TO NOT CAUSE ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. I LATER RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER TELLING ME THAT IT WOULD COST $92.50, I OK'ED IT BECAUSE OVER THE WEEKEND I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE TRITON ENGINE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME I WAS STILL IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND HAD EVEN TALKED TO AN OPERATOR NAMED RALPH. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO NEARLY 800,000 VEHICLES AND SOME RESULTING IN DEATH. DEARBORN, MI SAID THEY WOULD KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND WOULD CONTACT ME THURSDAY. THURSDAY MORNING CAME AND I WAS CONTACTED BY DEARBORN AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES MYSELF. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY DEARBORN TO ASK THE DEALERSHIP, "WHO RECEIVES CERTAIN ALLOCATED FUNDS EACH YEAR FOR REPAIRS JUST LIKE THIS". THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED ASSISTANCE. AFTER ALL WAS DONE I WAS CHARGED FOR AN ECSD DIAGNOSE (92.50); 2 SPARK PLUGS (6.81); 1 COIL ASSEMBLY IGNITION (103.69); FUEL INGESTION CLEANER (6.47) ANOTHER VEHICLE KEY ? (30.00); MISC DRIVABILITY CHARGE (92.50); PCM REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER? (92.50); CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY (78.75); CLEAN THE INJECTORS? (65.00). THEY ALSO FIXED A SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION DEVICE OF WHICH WAS UNDER RECALL. AS A DISABLED VETERAN THAT WAS HALF MY CHECK FOR THE MONTH. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS. 1ST DAY, CHECKED ENGINE AND FOUND THE NUMBER 1 AND 4 PLUGS WERE SCREWED UP AND THAT THE INJECTORS WERE BACKWARDS. *JB

Front brake hose metal crimp completely rusted causing brake hose separation and failure. Design has rubber boot over crimp which actually retains moisture over many years. Boot may be intended to reduce stress at joint of metal to hose but actually enhanced failure mode. Drivers side came apart after minor bump during service, have photos of passenger side still intact but clearly fragile.

FYI MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SOFT BRAKE PROBLEM THAT WARRANTED THEM TO ISSUE RECALL #19S54. I HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS . FORD NEEDS TO INCLUDE THE 2001 EXPEDITIONS IN THIS RECALL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO STOP THIS HEAVY VEHICLE WITH A SOFT BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN !

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. COULD NOT SEE 2 FEET INFRONT OF ME, SO I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER ON A BUSY ROAD. WE HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS INVOLVING TWO VEHICLES IN WHICH WHEELS HAVE COME OFF OF FORD F-550 VEHICLES DUE TO SHEARED LUG BOLTS. THE WEIGHTS OF ALL OF OUR VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECORDED AND FALL BELOW THE MANUFACTURERS GVWR. PER A TIRE COMPANY'S RECOMMENDATION, WE HAVE ISSUED A MANDATE THAT ALL SIMILAR VEHICLES HAVE THEIR WHEELS RE-TORQUED, TO MEET THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS AFTER DRIVING, AFTER TRAVELING 50 MILES FOLLOWING ANY WORK DONE ON THE WHEELS. WE HAVE HAD THE WHEELS ON VEHICLE THAT DID NOT COME OFF INSPECTED AND CHECKED TO PROPER TORQUE FOLLOWING ALL INCIDENTS AND THEY HAVE BEEN TORQUED APPROPRIATELY. ON THE MORNING OF JANUARY 26, 2012 I PARKED MAY CAR AT MY EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 5:50AM. I HEAD TO WORK LIKE ANY ORDINARY DAY, AND AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30 AM, I HAD CO-WORKERS INFORMING ME THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I RAN OUT TO THE PARKING LOT AND FOUND MY CAR IN FLAMES. DT: 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE BACK DOOR HAS TWO HYDRAULIC LIFTS TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. ONE ON DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE LOOSE FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THE OTHER LIFT WAS WELDED IN SIX PLACES, AND THIS ONE WAS ONLY WELDED IN ONE PLACE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. UPON TURNING MY DIRECTIONAL ON TO MAKE THE LEFT HAND TURN IT HESSITATED TO COME ON WHILE THE DIRECTIONAL STILL STAYED DOWN TO GO LEFT. AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE DIRECTIONAL CAME ON AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN AS WELL AS A STREAM OF SMOKE OUT OF THE HAZARD LIGHTS BUTTON ON THE STEERING COLUMN. I SHUT THE DIRECTIONAL OFF AND THE SMOKE STOPPED AND CLEARED AWAY. I PROCEEDED TO MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY NOT USING THE DIRECTIONAL AGAIN. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE "TURN SIGNAL SWITCH FRIED." BEING THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY ABOUT 20 YARDS AWAY THEY CAME AND PICKED MY VEHICLE UP GIVING ME A LOANER VEHICLE TO USE. THEY TOLD ME THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST ABOUT $120.00 FOR THE PART AND LABOR. I HUNG UP WITH THEM AND WAS NOT HAPPY. THAT EVENING AFTER DISCUSSING THE MATTER WITH MY FATHER HE AND I FELT IT SHOULD NOT BE MY RESPONSIBLITY TO PAY THIS AMOUNT ON A DEFECTIVE PART THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY. THAT NEXT MORNING I PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND ASKED THE BILL TO BE BILLED AND MAILED TO MY DADS BUSINESS, HE OWNS A NAPA AUTO PARTS STORE. AFTER HAVING SHOWED MY FATHER THE BILL AND HE CALLED TWO OTHER FORD DEALERSHIPS, THAT HE KNOWS AND DOES BUSINESS WITH. HE TOLD THEM MY SITUATION AND THEY INFORMED US THAT IT IS A "COMMON PROBLEM" AND THAT THEY FIX THE PROBLEMS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AT NO EXPENSE TO THE CUSTOMER. AFTER FIGHTING TOOTH AND NAIL ALL DAY WITH MY DEALERSHIPS MANAGER AND PARTS MANAGER THE DEALERSHIPS MANAGER SAID HE WOULD THROW THE BILL OUT AND NOT CHARGE ME BECAUSE WE ARE GOOD CUSTOMERS. WHY WOULD TWO OTHER DEALERSHIPS PERFORM THIS AT NO COST AND MINE WANT TO CHARGE ME? MY FATHER HAS ALSO CONTACTED FORD AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THIS AND HE WAS GOING TO GET BACK TO US. VEHICLE WAS LEFT OUTSIDE DURING SEVERAL RAINY DAYS. UPON STARTING VEHICLE, WIPERS, FANS WOULD NOT WORK. RADIO WOULD NOT OPERATE. WE OWN A 2001 EXPEDITION THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE THE SAME TIRES RECALLED P275/60R17. I WENT TO GREENVILLE TO PICK UP MY SON ON THE WAY HOME I FELT THE VEHICLE SHAKING AND DID'NT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WE HEAR A BANG NOISE I PULLED OVER INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND CHECKED MY TIRES THE BACK RIGHT SIDE HADE A LARGE BARE SPOT ON THE TIRE SHOWING THE SEPARATION AND WIRES OF THE TIRE. MY SON WHO JUST HAD SURGERYON HIS FOOT HAD TO CHANGE THE TIRE. NO-ONE WAS HURT. SEVERAL TIMES, USUALLY AT STOP LIGHTS, WHILE IDLING WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE SURGES UP TO APPROX 1000 RPM FOR APPROX 3-5 SEC. IF FOOT WAS NOT ON THE BRAKE, THE TRUCK COULD HAVE ACCELERATED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, OR INTO THE INTERSECTION. I WAS DROPPING MY GRANDMOTHER OFF AT CHURCH. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. WHEN I WENT TO START THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISES AND I SAW AND SMELLED SMOKE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND I SAW THE ENGINE SHAKING WENT THE TRUCK WAS ON. TODAY, FORD IS RECALLING 2000 EXPEDITIONS ALONG WITH OTHER MODELS DUE TO CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEMS CAUSING FIRES UNDER THE HOOD. A RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING HAD ALREADY WORN OUT-APPARENTLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO BECOME LOOSE FROM THE AXLE. AS IT CAME LOOSE, THE BRAKE SHOE AND PISTON MECHANISM OF THE BRAKE CEASED TO FUNCTION. SHE WAS LUCKY THAT SHE HIT NO ONE ELSE AND THAT THE WHEEL DID NOT COME OFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FLIP. I gave a friend a ride to Wal mart in my 2001 Expedition to buy some power steering fluid, luckily I parked over by the automotive section. I turned it off and waited in vehicle till he returned, about 7 or 8 minutes. I started the engine, grabbed the brake and dropped it in reverse when engine revved sending us backwards completely out of control with both feet on the brakes, spinning rear wheels and I turned ignition key off as quick as possible but violently slammed into a truck semitrailer only, parked alongside Wal mart tire shop. Completely totalled out the entire rear passenger liftback, taillights, tailgate, rear hatch window, left rear luever window, left tailpipe, tow hitch package and rear bumper. With only min. coverage, I'm now w/o a vehicle after completely replacing entire front and rear suspension, steering and tires plus alignment less than 6 months prior, with 275000 miles. Thank you very much Ford Motor Co. This was NOT an issue of driver error !.. I WILL find a way to legally hold you responsible for my loss, making FORD liable for repairing or replacing my vehicle ! This happened on Aug 29th, 2022 approx. 4pm at Wal mart property, in Ukiah, CA. 95482

THUS WATER LEAKS ON THE GEM MODULE SHORTING IT OUT; AND IT WAS STATED THAT IN SEVERAL OF THE SAME VEHICLES THAT THEIR ENTIRE FUSE BOX FAILS WHICH IS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE GEM MODULE WHICH IS MOUNTED ON TOP OF THE FUSE BOX CAUSING ENTIRE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I FEEL IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE PROBLEM. ONE NIGHT DURING A VERY HEAVY RAIN STORM THE ALARM WENT OFF AND WE WERE UNABLE TO DISABLE FOR OVER 30 MINS. HAD TO REMOVE THE BATTERY FOR THE BEEPING TO STOP. WHEN WE CHECKED THE NEXT DAY, INSIDE THE VEHICLE WAS A PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE DASHBOARD & DROPLETS WERE COMING FROM THE TOP DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO NOTICED THAT WATER WAS STREAMING DOWN FROM INSIDE A HANDLE ON THE FRAME BY SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON DRIVER SIDE. THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH IS FAILING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL/COLUMN IS PUT INTO A LOWER POSITION. THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL FAILS AND GOES TO A RAPID PULSE UNLESS THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN THE HIGHEST POSITION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, SHE NOTICED A BURNING SMELL WHEN SHE ACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. ON 02/13/10 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 A.M., I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH THE 5.4 LITER V-8 DOWN US HIGHWAY 151 NORTH OF FOND DU LAC, WISCONSIN. THE THROTTLE/ACCELERATOR STUCK AND THE EXPEDITION ACCELERATED TO OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AND THE BACK TIRES SPUN ON THE ICE AND THE FRONT TIRES STOPPED AS I CAME TO A STOP UPON THE ICE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD "POPPING" NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. DISCOVERED ONE THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN "EJECTED" FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE COIL THAT SITS ABOVE THE SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN BROKEN AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUG AND TIGHTEN IT DOWN ENOUGH TO SEAL THE CYLINDER AND GET THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP. 1. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM FAILS WHEN I TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND THE REAR END LOWERS TO THE GROUND. I HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME WITH THE IGNITION ON WHEN I AM PARKED FOR THE TRUCK TO RAISE UP. TECH CONFIRMED NOISE COMING FROM THE K-H ABS MODULE, SAID PROBLEM WAS PROBABLY DUE TO WINDSHIELD LEAK INTO FUSE BOX & GEM MODULE WHICH WAS SENDING CURRENT TO ABS MODULE AND ALSO CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO TURN ON/OFF BY THEMSELVES. ON 1/18/08 DEALERSHIP SAID TECH DID PRESSURE TEST ON WINDSHIELD AND IT LEAKED AND NEEDED TO BE RESEALED. FUSE BOX AND GEM MODULE WOULD ALSO NEED REPLACED. SINCE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY WATER LEAK FORD EXT.WARRANTY WON'T COVER REPAIRS. I SPOKE TO SRV MGR,WHO SAID HE WOULD CALL ZONE MGR.AND GET BACK TO ME. DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. FIRST, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WOULD SOMETIMES SURGE FORWARD. SHE THOUGHT THE SURGING WAS RELATED TO APPARENT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SHE FINALLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. PART OF THE COST WAS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SECONDLY, THE SEAT BELT IN THE MIDDLE ROW DID NOT RETRACT CORRECTLY. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE SEAT BELT. THIRDLY, THE LEFT REAR DOOR ACTUATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE POWER LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING. FOURTHLY, THE REAR PASSENGER CHILD SAFETY LOCK DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. ONCE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS DEACTIVATED, AND THE DOOR HANDLE WAS RAISED FROM THE INSIDE, THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM BY TAKING APART THE LOCK AND CLEANING IT. SHE HAD TO PUSH VERY HARD ON THE EXTERIOR KEY PAD TO GET IT TO WORK. THE DEALER DID NOT THINK THIS WAS A PROBLEM SINCE SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK EVENTUALLY. LASTLY, THE RIGHT FRONT POWER WINDOW WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THERE WAS A HEAVY RAIN THE EXPEDITION WAS PARKED OUTSIDE. THERE WAS WATER ON THE FLOOR MAT. THE HEADLIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, RADIO WORKED WHEN THE EXPEDITION WAS OFF. TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. (NAR) *PH WHILE DRIVING A PIECE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD CAME OFF THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE. NEXT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHICH CAUSED TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THE TIRE DAMAGED THE REAR BUMPER AND WHEEL WELL. WHILE DOING RESEARCH THE CONSUMER CAME ACROSS A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE PRICE OF FIVE NEW TIRES, DAMAGE AND MENTAL ANGUISH. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ALSO HAD TO BE OVERHAULED BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED TO ALLEVIATE BUCKING WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED. *NM

COSCO EDDIE BAUER CHILD CARSEAT : MANUFACTURED 05/09/2000; MODEL # 02870EBG. RECEIVED AS A GIFT 06/2000 AND BEGAN USING APPX 11/2000. THIS SEAT HAS AN ARM/BAR THAT IS PART OF THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM. THE ARM BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY. THE RESTRAINT WAS INTACT WHEN SON PLACED IN THE SEAT. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING (1/2 WAY INTO OUR TRIP) MY OLDER SON NOTICED THE ARM WAS LOOSE. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ARM HAD SNAPPED AND WAS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO THE SEATBACK. THE JOINT IS LIKE A BALL AND SOCKET WITH A SPRING. I THOUGHT THE "BALL" OF THE ARM HAD COME OUT OF THE "SOCKET" OF THE SEATBACK, BUT IN FACT THE ARM HAD BROKEN BEFORE THE JOINT. THE PLASTIC COMPLETELY SNAPPED. MY SON THAT WAS IN THE CARSEAT IS ONLY 15 MONTHS OLD. IT AMAZES ME THAT A 15 MONTH OLD CAN BREAK PART OF A RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED HAD WE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
