I HAVE HAD SIX OCCURRENCES OF A SPARK PLUG BLOWING OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. EACH TIME, IT BLEW THE COIL OFF ALSO. THE DANGEROUS POPPING AND VAPORS THAT BLOW FROM THE NOW OPEN HEAD ARE A SERIOUS IGNITION HAZARD IN THE ENGINE BAY. IT IS NOT ALWAYS THE SAME PLUG THAT HAS BLOWN OUT. THREE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE THREADS THAT THE PLUG GOES INTO ARE STRIPPED. THROUGH RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND ALTHOUGH I DID NOT ENCOUNTER A FIRE DUE TO THE VAPORS UNDER THE HOOD, IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS BEFORE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT AND IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. EACH TIME THE REPAIR IS EXPENSIVE AND THE UNCERTAINTY OF IF/WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

I'M NOT SURE THIS IS GOING TO DO ANY GOOD, BECAUSE I AM NOT THE FIRST TO LODGE THIS COMPLAINT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THAT THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THE MOST RECENT WAS YESTERDAY 2/29/2012. I AM VERY GRATEFUL THAT I WAS DRIVING EACH TIME AND NOT MY WIFE OR KIDS. I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXPEDITION AND ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER A TWO YEAR PERIOD, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD, THE SPARK PLUGS HAVE BLOWN OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEADS. IT HAS NOT ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME PLUG. ON 3 OF THE OCCASIONS THE COILS BROKE OFF. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ME OR ANYONE ELSE AS CONSUMERS HAS TO PAY FOR THE MISTAKES OF FORD'S POOR DESIGN FLAWS. THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ITEM. IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THEY CAN RECALL A RUNNING BOARD LIGHT, THEN WHY HAVE THEY NOT BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THIS ITEM? WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY (I-75) HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A SHOP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE. IN JANUARY 2012 THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT START UP AGAIN IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE. FEBRUARY 2012 (TODAY) APPARENTLY THE SAME HAS OCCURRED WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY (I-75), I HAVE NOT HAD A SHOP LOOK AT IT YET. Cruise control deactivation switch. I was getting in my truck on my way to work in the early morning. as I walked by the hood I could smell what seemed like burning wire, so I opened the hood & right as I got it all the way up flames started shooting up. I put the fire out and had to wait to call my mechanic he came and told me it was definitely the deactivation switch that had caught fire.

I WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE I WAS TOLD BY WORKER AT SHOP THAT EVERYTHING UNDER HOOD WAS RUSTY AND CHANCES ARE THAT THIS TRUCK WAS IN THE NEW ORLEANS FLOOD (KATRINA) IT WAS DOWN HILL FROM THEN. EVERYTHING STARTED TO MALFUNCTION.

THIS IS ABOUT A BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUG. THE BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUG (#4 ON PASSENGER SIDE)) HAPPENED WHEN MY FAMILY & I WERE TRAVELING IN HIGHWAY NEAR STOCKTON CA AT AROUND 5 PM. THERE WAS NO SHOP OPEN AND I HAD TO CALL AAA TO TOW THE 2002 FORD EXPEDITION TO OUR FRIEND'S HOUSE ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY. IT WAS ALSO A VERY COLD NIGHT AND WE WAITED FOR ABOUT 1 HR FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. IT WAS INCREDIBLY INCONVENIENT FOR THIS INCIDENT TO HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY/HIGHWAY. I HEARD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE OLDER EXPEDITION WITH TRITON ENGINE. I LOVE FORD TRUCKS/SUVS AND I HOPE THEY CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. I WOULD RATHER WANT TO SEE A RECALL THAN A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN THE FUTURE.

JUST WANT TO ADD MY CAR TO THE LIST OF FORD EXPEDITION 5.6L ENGINES THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SPARK PLUG EJECTION ISSUE. THANKFULLY, THIS OCCURED WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, SO IT DID NOT CAUSE ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY. THIS IS OUR SON'S CAR AND WE INTENDED IT TO BE THE VEHICLE OUR 15 YEAR OLD USED AS WELL. HOWEVER, NOW THAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE SPARK PLUG PROBLEM, WE NO LONGER FEEL IT'S SAFE AND HOPE TO TRADE IT IN. IT'S EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING AND DISHEARTENING TO KNOW THAT FORD HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. OUR VEHICLE HAD ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY-INSTALLED SPARK PLUGS.

MY 2002 FORD EXPEDITION HAS ALWAYS HAD TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEMS. OVER THE YEARS, IT WILL SOMETIMES NOT GO OUT OF 4X4 WITHOUT SOME GENTLE COAXING. JUST THE OTHER DAY, IT SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I STARTED TO HEAR A SOUND LIKE I WAS DRAGGING SOMETHING. WHEN I STOPPED, I HAD TO DRIVE IT IN MANUAL 2 JUST TO GET IT HOME. AT HOME, IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND WAS ACTING LIKE THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOCKED UP WHEN I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. TAKATA RECALL DURING AN INSPECTION OF MY SUSPENSION FOR WORN BUSHINGS, I NOTED SEVERE CORROSION ON MY REAR TRAILING ARMS FOR THE REAR AXLE. THE LOWER ARM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTUALLY HAD A QUARTER SIZE HOLE IN THE INBOARD SIDE OF THE WEB. 2002 FORD WINDSTAR REAR AXLE PROBLEM WE WERE DRIVING ON 78E AND WERE APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES BEFORE ALLENTOWN. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEARD A CRACK, SMELLED SMOKE, AND HEARD METAL SCRAPING. THE CAR STARTED FISHTAILING AND MY HUSBAND VIRTUALLY HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR AS THE WINDSTAR REPEATEDLY CROSSED 2 LANES AND ALMOST HIT THE MIDDLE BARRIER AND THEN FISHTAILED TOWARD THE OTHER SIDE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS OR TRUCKS IN FRONT OR IN BACK OF US AND WE WERE AT A SLIGHT UPHILL. FINALLY, MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VAN AND PULL OVER TO THE SMALL SHOULDER WHICH WAS BARELY BIG ENOUGH TO FIT THE VAN. WE CALLED 911 AND AAA. WHILE WE WAITED ON THE SIDE, WE FEARED THAT WE COULD GET HIT IN THE EVENT THAT A TRUCK OR CAR SWERVED TO THE SIDE. WE WERE SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS CRACKED AND THE REAR TIRES WERE CAVED IN. MY AUTO DEALER GILBOY IN WHITEHALL OFFERED TO TOW AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM, BUT ONLY AT MY EXPENSE. FORD EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS NO COVERAGE FOR THIS SITUATION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND THERE CURRENTLY IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. BOTH GILBOY AND FORD TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE REAR AXLE. I HAD 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR, 2 OF WHICH WERE MY OWN. THIS WAS THE SCARIEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE AS I FEARED WHAT POTENTIALLY COULD HAPPEN. LUCKILY, SOMEONE FROM ABOVE WAS LOOKING AFTER US BUT I FEAR THE NEXT FORD WINDSTAR OWNER MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. SPECIAL MESSAGE #15773. IF FORD IS ALREADY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY ADMIT THEY ARE AWARE OF IT IN SO MANY YEARS OF MODELS, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS? The contact's fiancée owns a 2002 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the driver's side front end of the vehicle. The contact stated that while his fiancée was attempting to drive the vehicle the following day, the brake pedal was depressed but was firm, requiring the contact's fiancée to step on the brake pedal to drive. The brake pedal remained on the floorboard and was inoperable, causing the contact's fiancée to shift to park(P) to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the speed control deactivation switch (SCDS) connectors had burned, and the brake fluid had leaked from the brake fluid reservoir. The dealer replaced the SCDS sensor and harness under NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V388000 (Vehicle Speed Control). The dealer declined to perform repairs for collateral damages. The contact stated that he was an auto-electrician mechanic who owned an auto shop. The vehicle was then towed to the contact's auto repair shop, where mechanics replaced the brake master cylinder and cleaned brake fluid off the engine bay. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 163,745.

MY 2002 EXPEDITION WAS RECALLED IN 2005 TO REPLACE THE CRUISE CONTROL WIRING HARNESS. A FUSED WIRING HARNESS WAS INSTALLED TO PROTECT THE LIVE CRUISE CONTROL CIRCUIT FROM INITIATING A FIRE IF THE BRAKE SENSING SWITCH MEMBRANE LEAKED BRAKE FLUID. YESTERDAY, 17 SEP 07, MY CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKE SENSING SWITCH AT THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WIRING HARNESS COMING OUT OF THE SWITCH WERE SOAKED WITH BRAKE FLUID. BRAKE FLUID WAS ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DISCONNECTED THE WIRING HARNESS THE AREA OF THE SWITCH INTO WHICH THE WIRING HARNESS WAS PLUGGED WAS FULL OF BRAKE FLUID. BRAKE APPLICATION CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE SWITCH. THE SWITCH MEMBRANE WAS INDEED BROKEN. I ASSUMED (WRONGLY) THAT THE NEW FUSED CRUISE CONTROL BUNDLE HAD PROBABLY SPARED ME A FIRE. I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD TODAY. THEY CALLED CORPORATE REGARDING PAYMENT ISSUES. I WAS INFORMED THAT FORD WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR BILL. THIS SPECIFIC COMPLAINT IS NOT ABOUT THE BILL PER SE, BUT ABOUT MY CONCERN FOR SAFETY. AS IT TURNED OUT, THE NEW FUSED HARNESS DID NOT BLOW THE FUSE--FORD DID NOT REPLACE THE HARNESS. I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THE "HOT" FUSED WIRING HARNESS WAS ATTACHED TO THE BRAKE SENSOR WHILE IT WAS COMPLETELY IMMERSED IN BRAKE FLUID. THERE IS STILL A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF FIRE. BRAKE LINE RUPTURED IN REAR OF VEHICLE WHEN PULLING INTO SERVICE STATION HAULING MY TRAVEL TRAILER. WAS TOLD THE LINE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. I FIND TOTALLY CRAZY TO FIND BRAKE LINES RUSTING ON A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE REAR CONTROL ARMS NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE RUST. I KNOW THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON THE WINDSTARS AND IT WAS RECALLED FORD NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS. THANK GOD IT HAPPENED AT THE STATION AND NOT HAULING MY KIDS TO THE CAMPGROUND. 2 - ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THE FIRST PROBLEM RESULTED IN ABOUT $800 WORTH OF REPAIRS - A WIRE UNDERNEATH THE DASH GROUNDED ITSELF ON THE FRAME OF THE AUTOMOBILE. THIS SHOWED ITSELF BY BLOWING SEVERAL FUSES AS WELL A SHUTTING DOWN THE ABILITY TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR ONCE STARTED. IT TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO REALIZE THE EXACT PROBLEM. REPLACING FUSES HELPED, BUT BLOW SEVERAL DAYS LATER. MANY OPTIONS SUCH AS THE POWER WINDOWS, RADIO, REAR WIPERS, RUNNING BOARD LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, ETC. WOULD NOT WORK. THE SECOND INSTANCE IS EVEN MORE ALARMING - THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH CAUGHT FIRE WHILE IN THE GARAGE. MY WIFE WAS AT HOME AT THE TIME. SHE NEEDED SOMETHING OUT OF THE CAR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUSE BOX, GEAR MODULE, REAR WIPER MOTOR. MY 2002 FORD EXPEDITION EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION DUE TO A LIQUID BUILD UP IN ITS SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW THE MOISTURE WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE AUDIO SYSTEM AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT OPERATE IN THE REVERSE OR DRIVE POSITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, ON THE LAST OCCASION, A SMALL FIRE STARTED, RESULTING IN THE STARTER BEING BURNED UP. NO INJURIES OCCURRED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $1065.70 ON THE FIRST REPAIR BILL, AND 335.00 ON THE SECOND REPAIR BILL. 1. WHEN IT RAINS MY 2002 FORD EXPEDITION HAS WATER COMING INSIDE OF IT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. CONSEQUENTLY CAUSING MY GEM AND FUSE BOX TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND REPLACED THE GEM AND RESEALED MY WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT DAY AFTER RECEIVING MY VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER IT RAINED AGAIN AND HAD TO TAKE IT BACK FOR THE SAME SYMPTOM. THEY DRIED OUT THE MODULE AND MADE SURE THE WINDSHIELD WAS SEALED GOOD BUT UNTIL THIS DAY RAIN STILL COMES IN. I ALSO REPLACED THE DOOR SEAL AND TOOK THE LUGGAGE RACK OFF AND PUT SEALANT UNDER IT AND IT STILL GETS WATER IN MY VEHICLE. *TR

MY 2002 FORD EXPEDITION'S WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND AUDIO SYSTEM WOULD NOT FUNCTION IN ANY POSITION EXCEPT PARK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN ON JAN. 24 AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE AUDIO AND WIPER SYSTEM FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. I GOT A CALL LATER IN THE DAY SAYING THAT THE VEHICLE'S WIPERS AND AUDIO SYSTEM DISPLAYED THE MALFUCNTION THAT I HAD DESCRIBED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THERE WAS SEVERE CORRSION AROUND SOME OF THE ELETRICAL PARTS. THE SERVICE TECH SUSPECTED A LEAK BUT COULD NOT TELL WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CORRODED PART FOR THE AMOUNT OF $1065.70 AND RELEASED THE CAR TO ME. ON JAN. 31, MY HUSBAND NOTICED AT 5:00 A.M AS HE WAS PREPARING FOR WORK THAT THE AUDIO SYSTEM WAS BLASING AND THE DASH BOARD WAS LIT. HE ATTEMPETED TO START THE CAR, BUT IT WOULDN'T. HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AT 8:00 A.M TO REPORT THE PROBLEM. A TOWING COMPANY WAS CONTACTED AT THIS TIME. AT APPROXIMATELY 12 NOON, MY HUSBAND ATTEMTED TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS TIME IT STARTED AND MY HUSBAND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT REMAINED ON, AND THE VEHICLE DROVE "ROUGH". ON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALERSHIP, A SMALL FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE STARTER HAD BURNED (ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TECH). THE STARTER WAS REPLACED ON FEB. 6. THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN REPORTED THAT A LEAK WAS DETECTED, AND HE SUSPECTED THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD (WE TOLD THEM THAT WE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD IN JULY BECAUSE OF A SMALL WHOLE FROM A ROCK IN THE ROAD). WE PAID AN ADDITIONAL $335 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STARTER. WE CARRIED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE GLASS DELEARSHIP AND HAD THEM RUN A "WET" TEST WITH MY HUSBAND AS A WITNESS. WATER DID NOT ENTER THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. AS AN EXTRA PRECAUTION WE HAD EXTRA SEALANT PLACED AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I LEARNED THAT THE WIPERS MAY HAVE A MALFUNCTION THAT CAUSES WATER TO ENTER THE DASH AFTER RAIN OR SNOW. BOTH OCCURANCES STARTED AFTER RAIN. *NM

THE SPARK PLUG IN MY 2002 FORD EXPEDITION BLEW OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER THIS HAPPENED, I TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED AT A NON-DEALER MECHANIC. EVERY MECHANIC I CALLED SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH MY CAR BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE AND THE THREADS BEING INSUFFICIENT. AND THAT MOST OF THE REPAIRS ARE NOT LASTING SO THE SITUATION ESCALATES TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE LOSING MONEY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THAT THEY DID NOT CREATE. THE DEALER FIXED MY CAR AND SAID THAT THE FIX HAS NO WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT COST ME $1116.98 TO REPAIR. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS COMMON. AND THAT 1 IN 100 OF THE REPAIRS DO NOT HOLD. THE SPARK PLUG REPAIR IS RECOMMENDED AT THE 100K TUNE-UP MARK. MY CAR HAS HAD ALL MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURING INCLUDING THE EVERY 3K MILE OIL CHANGES. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO MY CAR. IT WAS NEAR BUT NOT OVER THE 100K MARK. AND EVEN IF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN CHANGED AS RECOMMENDED, THE COIL WOULD HAVE STILL BLOWN BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THREAD ON THE ENGINE, NOT THE PLUG ITSELF. ON 7/3/2007 I HEARD A LOUD BANGING SOUND AND SMELLED GAS COMING FROM UNDER MY ENGINE. WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO SIOUX FALLS FORD, THEY SAID A SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT. WHEN I ASKED IF THAT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PLUG MAY HAVE BEEN PUT IN INCORRECTLY. I HAVE NEVER HAD THE SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, SO I KNEW IT WAS A FACTORY PLUG, BUT THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT. I SPENT $800 TO HAVE THE IT RE-THREAD. 4 WEEKS LATER, A DIFFERENT SPARK PLUG DID THE SAME THING. AT THAT TIME, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD CHECK ALL OF THE SPARK PLUGS TO ENSURE THAT THEY WERE TIGHT. 4 WEEKS AFTER THAT, THE IGNITION COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN THAT PLUG AND THE PLUG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE ON TWO OF OUR FORD EXPLORERS. IT WAS CONCERNING THE GLASS IN THE LIFT GATE. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE GLASS COULD FALL OUT AND INJURE THE PERSON OPENNING THE WINDOW. WE HAD THE RECALL DONE ON TWO OF OUR VEHICLES. ABOUT 90 DAYS AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED THE GLASS DID FALL OUT ON ONE OF OUR DETECTIVES. WE HAD THE WINDOW FIXED AND FORD CHARGED US 1029.67 FOR THE REPAIR. OUR CONCERN IS TWO FOLD. OBVIOUSLY THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND THE SAFTY ISSUE IS A FACTOR. The contact owns a 2002 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it caught fire. The fire started from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with water. An independent mechanic came to the contact's residence and diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V017000 (Vehicle Speed Control) however, the contact did not receive notification of the recall. The mechanic informed the contact that the speed control deactivation switch caused the fire that damaged the hydraulic control unit and the pigtail. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the failure was related to the recall. However, the dealer denied the recall repair since the recall was open for many years but was left unrepaired. The contact stated that she had owned the vehicle for a couple of months and was not aware there was a recall. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,457.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN EARLIER THAT DAY FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 MILES AND THEN IT WAS PARKED INSIDE A PRIVATE MOBILE HOME PARK. AFTER 30 TO 45 MINUTES HAD PASSED, AN EXPLOSION WAS HEARD OUTSIDE THE MOBILE HOME PARK; THE VEHICLE EXPLODED AND WAS ON FIRE. THE EXPLOSION OCCURRED IN THE HOOD AND NOW IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WHEN IT REACHED SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 TO 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP THE VEHICLE OR TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE ALSO WITH MUCH FORCE LUNGED TO THE RIGHT WHEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ACTIVATED ON IT'S OWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 42,000.

I HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES, BOTH BACK DOOR WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN OFF TRACK AND WON'T STAY UP. THIS HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 07 AND A FEW MONTHS LATER THE SECOND REAR WINDOW DID THE SAME. I HAVE TO USE CLEAR PACKAGING TAPE TO HOLD THEM UP. THE KEY TO THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN UNLESS I USE SOMETHING WITH A HARD END AND TAP IT SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE IGNITION PROBLEM FIRST HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006 I CALLED FORD ROAD SIDE SERVICE AND THEY RECOMMENDED TAPPING THE KEY SEVERAL TIMES AND SAID THEY HAD A GROWING COMPLAINT OF THIS. AIRBAGS DIDN'T DELPLOY, ALL WINDOWS WERE BUSTED OUT(XCPT 2), DRIVER DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT OPENED. MY SON & I ARE THANKFUL, I RECEIVED STAPLES TO THE BACK OF MY HEAD, I HAVE TO HAVE AN MRI ON MY HEAD & NECK, SON HAS TO HAVE HIS SHOULDER & HIP CHECKED. DRIVERS SEAT BROKE LOOSE, ENTIRE DASH WAS DESTROYED. PEOPLE IN THE OTHER CAR WERE VISITING FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY (I'M FILLED WITH SORROW & A LOT OF COUNSELING AHEAD OF ME) THEIR FAMILIES ARE IN MY PRAYERS & THOUGHTS DAILY, TWO OF THE PEOPLE IN THE OTHER CAR PASSED AWAY UPON IMPACT.
