RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS 2003 EXPEDITION WITH THE 5.4L ENGINE. PURCHASED ON 12/20/2011. SINCE OWNING SAID VEHICLE I HAVE HAD TWO SPARK PLUG FAILURES. ON CYL 8 AND CYL 3. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH. THE SECOND AND RECENT HAPPENED DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED, CRUISE SET TO 65 MPH. THE PLUG EJECTS FROM THE CYL CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE COIL, AND POSSIBLY CREATING A FIRE HAZARD. THERE WAS NO RECENT TUNE UP TO MY KNOWLEDGE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF WHEN HE NOTICED FLAMES ERUPTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 103,000.

A MONTH OR SO AGO THE TRUCK STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT TURNS OUT IT WAS SPARK PLUG #4 MISFIRING. REPLACED IT AND ALL WAS GOLDEN UNTIL YESTERDAY (4/3/12) WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP UPON STARTING THE TRUCK AND THEN IT WAS IDLING ROUGH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND SPARK PLUG #4 IS MISFIRING AGAIN. WE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED AND IT'S BEEN ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER. SO DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN INSPECTION HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED AS A RESULT OF EXCESSIVE RUST CORROSION IN THE CORE RADIATOR SUPPORT BRACKET. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. Faulty fuse panel. This is a known issue. It is ALL over the internet. There has never been a recall. The vehicle will stall while driving. On attempting restart or crank, there is a buzzing noise from the fuse panel. The pcm #203 I believe, corrodes or melts through the board on the panel causing the fault. Replacing the fuse/relay will correct, but for a time. Panel replacement is required. First incident at 165k. Second incident at about 205k. After the last panel replacement, the vehicle continued to stall. Another faulty fuse, for the day running lamps, caused a fault, which melted the housing between the panel and the wiring harness. The screw attachment is "crunchy" because of the melted elements. The smell is noticeable, and the panel requires replacement again. Third incident about 246k. This is a fire hazard. The wiring harness is hot to the touch. Being a KNOWN issue, having discussed on various socials and with ford dealer techs, this should have been recalled ages ago.

AS MY FIANCE WAS COMING FROM WORK THE CAR SUDDENLY JUST QUIT ON HIM WHILE DOING 75 MPH. HE GUIDED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. HE TRIED TO CRANK THE CAR AGAIN TO ONLY HEARING A BUZZING SOUND. THE FIRST MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER SO HE CHANGED IT OUT. THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START BUT KEPT MAKING THE BUZZING SOUND. THE MECHANIC CAME OUT AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS TOLD ME TO CHANGE MY RELAY SWITCH I DID STILL HASN'T STARTED UP YET. WHILE DRIVING 85 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED, AND THE FUSE BOX MADE A BUZZING SOUND. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, REACHED UNDER THE DASHBOARD, AND PULLED THE RELAY FUSE TO STOP THE BUZZING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BURNED. ANOTHER MECHANIC CAME ALSO CAME TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND INFORMED HER THAT THE FUSE RELAY AND THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED ANDERSON FORD (3900 CLEMSON BLVD, ANDERSON, SC 29621, (864) 225-4151) AND WAS PROVIDED WITH A QUOTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE FUEL PUMP/FILTER, 402 SENSORS, AND FUSE RELAYS WERE REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 I HEARD A LOUD POP, MY SEATBELT TIGHTENED AND BOTH SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, WITH A LOT OF SMOKE. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THIS JUST HAPPENED YESTERDAY SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THEM.

SIDE AIRBAGS SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE SAFELY AND NO APPARENT INJURY TO MYSELF OR PASSENGER EXCEPT FOR POSSIBLE HEARING LOSS DUE TO THE LOUD BANG ON DEPLOYMENT. I USED A KNIFE TO CUT THE BAGS AWAY FROM THE FRONT SIDE WINDOWS THEN CONTINUED DRIVING.

DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD IN A SCHOOL ZONE WHEN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 PM, WHEN SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE BAGS DEPLOYED DEFLATED. I WAS NEAR A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT HIT NOR DID I HIT ANYONE TO CAUSE THE BAGS TO DEPLOY.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TREAD ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE SEPARATED AND DESTROYED THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BIGH TIRE AND MUFFLER, 1695 SOUTH VOLUSIA AVE, ORANGE CITY, FL 32763) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEEL CORD IN THE FRONT TIRE FAILED AND FRACTURED THE CORD IN THE REAR TIRE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. SIX WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE TREAD AND THE WIRE SEPARATED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 274,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.

BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND LEAKED CAUSING SUDDEN LOSS OF MOST BRAKING. I BOUGHT THIS FORD NEW IN JULY OF 2003. AFTER THE BRAKE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. I HAD ALL BRAKE LINES REPLACED, AND STILL HAVE THE PIECE WHICH LEAKED. THE SHOP SAID IT IS BECAUSE THE BRAKE LINES ARE ROUTED ON TOP OF THE FRAME RAILS, AND SALT BUILDS UP. MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION HAD A SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE WHILE MY SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. LUCKILY SHE WAS NOT HURT WHEN THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE. I FOUND THE BRAKE RESERVOIR TO BE COMPLETELY EMPTY AND REFILLED IT IMMEDIATELY. THEN I DISCOVERED THE REAL PROBLEM. THE REAR FACTORY BRAKE LINES WERE CONSTANTLY RUBBING AGAINST THE REAR SPRINGS OF THE CAR , THUS WEARING A HOLE IN THE BRAKE LINE. THIS RESULTED IN RAPID LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID , WHICH ALSO LED TO SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. MY BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL AROUND 50K. THIS IS THE FIRST BRAKE SERVICING REQUIRED ON THIS VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY A NUMBER OF MECHANICS THAT THE FRONT ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE WORN DOWN TOO MUCH. I WAS SURPRISED ABOUT THIS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 FORD EXPEDITIONS. APPARENTLY, THESE ROTORS ARE NOT "DEFECTIVE" IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP OTHERWISE THERE WOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF POOR DESIGN AND ENGINEERING. IT IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS TO EXPECT ANYONE TO BELIEVE IT IS NORMAL TO REPLACE BRAKE ROTORS ON EACH BRAKE PAD CHANGE. I HAVE BOUGHT AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES MY ENTIRE LIFE. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT THE FOREIGN CARS WERE JUNK AND COST A LOT OF MONEY TO MAINTAIN. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE SPENT MUCH MONEY AND TIME REPAIRING MY AMERICAN MADE CARS. I HAD BOUGHT THE CHEAPEST CAR I COULD FIND BACK IN 2000. A HYUNDAI ELANTRA. I HAVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS. NOT A SINGLE ONE. THE MILEAGE IS OVER 100K AND I HAVEN'T EVEN NEEDED TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS. THIS CAR WAS THE ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST CAR I COULD FIND ON THE MARKET IN 2000. I WILL TAKE THIS AS AN ILLUSTRATION OF HOW POORLY THE FORD LINE OF PRODUCTS ARE EITHER DESIGNED OR BACKED UP BY THE MANUFACTURER. *JB

I HAVE A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION AND I HAVE THE AUTOMATIC MIRRORS THAT ROTATE IN AND DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE RIGHT MIRROR WOULD CONTINUE TO MOVE IN AND DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO REVERSE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN DRIVE THE MIRROR WAS SUPPOSE TO GO BACK TO THE PRE-SERT POSITION BUT IT WOULD NOT. THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE SAME PROBLEM RECURRED AND THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH LT AND RT MIRROR MOTORS. NOW THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED AGAIN WITH A LITTLE DIFFERENCE. NOW WHEN I UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE REMOTE BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE MIRRORS ROTATE IN AND DOWN AS IF THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE BUT THAT IS EVEN BEFORE THE DOORS AR OPEN. I HAVE A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION AND I HAVE THE AUTOMATIC MIRRORS THAT ROTATE IN AND DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE. ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE SAME PROBLEM RECURRED AND THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH LT AND RT MIRROR MOTORS. NOW THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED AGAIN WITH LITTLE DIFFERENCE. REAR HEATING/AC AIR BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR HAS FAILED. A DRIVE GEAR INSIDE THE ACTUATOR HAS STRIPPED AND IS MISSING TWO TEETH. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS THAT THE MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL CAUSES THE ACTUATOR TO REACH ONE END OF IT'S INTERNAL TRAVEL LIMIT PREMATURELY, STRAINING THE INTERNAL GEAR DRIVE. ALSO, THE AIR BLEND DOOR TRAVEL LIMITS ARE REACHED BEFORE THE ACTUATOR LIMITS, STRAINING THE INTERNAL GEAR DRIVE FURTHER AT BOTH ENDS OF TRAVEL. THE TWO ISSUES CAUSE THE EFFECTIVE ROTATION RANGE OF THE MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL TO BE REDUCED FROM 300 DEGREES OF ROTATION TO 135 DEGREES OF ROTATION, AND ANY POSITIONING OF THE CONTROL OUTSIDE THE EFFECTIVE RANGE STRAINS AND STRIPS THE GEARS OF THE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated and the front end of the vehicle was shaking abnormally, vibrating, and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, there was a loud booming sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the spark plug had ejected from the engine cylinder. The engine cylinder was rethreaded, and the spark plug was installed; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 230,000.

This vehicle has a faulty engine. The aluminum that Ford used to create the top end is too thin to support the pressure of the engine. As a result spark plugs explode from the engine at random with no warning. This has happened 5 times even after replacing all spark plugs, numerous coils and having kits installed by a mechanic sold by Ford to address the issue. $475 per kit from Ford. This is an enormous safety issue. The last one that blew out was on the highway with my two toddlers in the car.

ENGINE SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING ALONG A MODEST SPEED SURFACE STREET WHILE ACCELERATING AWAY FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT. SUDDENTY THERE WAS A LOUD REPEATED POPPLING SOUND ALONG WITH ROUGH ENGINE PERFORMANCE. I PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY TO A CONVENIENT SPOT. INITIAL INSPECTION (HAVE NOT HAD IT TOWED OR REPAIRED YET, IT JUST HAPPENED TODAY) APPEARS TO BE A PLUG BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE OPEN PLUG HOLE WILL ALLOW EXPLOSIVE GAS VAPORS INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE DISLOCATED COIL IS STILL OPERATING.

IT APPEARS THAT DUE TO THE DESIGN AND THE MATERIALS USED WATER REMAINS TRAPPED ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. ALSO POOR WORKMANSHIP OR POOR MATERIALS ARE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS UNFORESEEN ISSUES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE HOOD CAN BECOME WEAK IN THE AREAS AFFECTED BY THE CORROSION, THEREFORE I AM SEEKING GUIDANCE. I DID REACH OF TO THE FORD COMPANY WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS, THEY ONLY ADVISE THAT THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. I HAD TO CALL SOMEONE TO COME AND PICK MY GRANDCHILDREN UP AND CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY ARRANGED FOR A TOW. THE FRAME OF MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRAME IS ABOUT TO SELF DESTRUCT. ONE OF THE STRAPS THAT HOLDS THE GAS TANK TO THE FRAME HAS RUSTED. REPLACEMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ALONG THE FRAME ARE ALSO RUSTED. I HAVE HAD ONE REPLACED ALREADY. THE AREA BELOW ALL 4 DOORS IS MISSING DUE TO RUST. YOU CAN SEE THE FRAME THROUGH THE MISSING STEEL. IT APPEARS THAT FORD USES NOTHING TO KEEP THEIR VEHICLES FROM RUSTING! THIS IS A DISGRACE. FORD HAS BEEN MANUFACTURING VEHICLES FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS AND STILL CANT MAKE ONE THAT DOES NOT RUST. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, SEVERAL TIMES, IT STALLED. IT BEGAN TO STALL EVERY FEW MONTHS. IT LATER STALLED WEEKLY AND LATER DAILY. EACH TIME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED (IT DID NOT APPEAR EACH AND EVERY TIME), I WOULD HAVE IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. I ALWAYS GOT THE P0231 ERROR CODE. I HAVE HAD MY FUEL PUMP, FUEL RELAY, FUEL FILTERS, TRANSMISSION AND SEVERAL OTHER THINGS REPLACED. NONE OF THE PREVIOUS LISTED REPAIRS FIXED THE ISSUE. RECENTLY ON 09/07/2015, I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH. MY VEHICLE STALLED ON A TRAIN TRACK. IT DID NOT START RIGHT AWAY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT GOING FOR A FEW SECONDS, LONG ENOUGH TO MOVE IT. I WAS TERRIFIED. IT HAS BEEN PARKED EVER SINCE. MY MECHANIC WILLINGLY DID A HOUSE CALL AND EXPLAINED THE REAL ISSUE. HE STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS A FAULTY FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THE KICK PANEL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. HE STATED THAT IF I GET IT REPAIRED, IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN, DUE TO THE FAULTY DESIGN OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE LOCATION OF THE BOX. HE ALSO STATED THAT IF I GET IT REPLACED, I WOULD NEED TO GET IT FROM THE DEALER. REPLACING IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER SELLING THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY TO INCLUDE FUSES AND RELAYS. I AM NOT SURE HOW FAR THIS COMPLAINT WOULD GO, BUT IT'S WORTH COMPLAINING ABOUT.

PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR 30 MINUTES, AND UPON BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. PARKED THE CAR AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. FOUND BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH ON THE CROSS SUPPORT UNDER THE ENGINE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AND MAJOR INJURY HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE DRIVE IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAS 113000 MILES ON IT. WE HAVE HAD OTHER MANUFACTURERS VEHICLES WITH OVER 200000 MILES AND NO BRAKE LINE ISSUES. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE PART/DESIGN ISSUE AND DUE TO THE SAFETY RISK, FORD SHOULD TAKE ACTION. WE HAD A 1990 F150 THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE IN 2002 AT 100000 MILES. WE WILL BE CHECKING OUR 2004 F150 VERY CAREFULLY.

THE BRAKE LINE THAT IS ROUTED TO THE REAR BRAKES RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH, CAUSING ME TO LOSE ALL BRAKING FUNCTION HENCE, CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO RUN OFF INTO A DITCH TO MISS A SLOWING VEHICLE. AFTER I HAD COME TO REST IN THE DITCH THERE WAS AN ENGINE FIRE CAUSED BY BRAKE FLUID SPRAYING ONTO THE HOT ENGINE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. FORTUNATELY, I HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON BOARD, SO I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE. THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS INCIDENT IS THAT THERE IS ANOTHER LINE THAT RUNS PARALLEL WITH THE DEFECTIVE LINE THAT SHOWS ZERO EVIDENCE OF CORROSION.

MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE AS I APPROACHED A FOUR-WAY STOP INTERSECTION ON A RURAL COUNTY HIGHWAY. INSPECTION BY AUTO REPAIR TECHNICIANS REVEALED MY BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERAL RUPTURES. THE TECHNICIANS SAID THE RUST WAS THE RESULT OF FORD'S DECISION TO INSTALL STEEL BRAKE LINES IN THE VEHICLE, RATHER THAN ALUMINUM. WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SALT PREVALENT ON LOCAL ROADWAYS IN THE WINTER, THEY EASILY RUST OUT LONG BEFORE THE VEHICLE EVEN APPROACHES THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF ITS LIFE.

WHEN DRIVING ON I-10 WEST AT 65 MPH MY FORD EXPEDITION SHUT DOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE APPOINTMENT I WAS IN THE LEFT TURNING LANE AND THE VEHICLE DIED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD SOMEONE BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. AT THIS TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP (SHAMALEY FORD). THEY INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. I RETRIEVED MY VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN DRIVING TO ENSURE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL IT DIED AGAIN ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A ONE LANE STREET WHICH NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SOMEONE HELPED ME PUSH MY VEHICLE AROUND THE CORNER SO THAT TRAFFIC COULD PROCEED. I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND TRIED TO START ME VEHICLE AND IT STARTED. I HURRIED AND PLACED IT IN MY PARKING SPACE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND REMOVED THE TOP COVER TO THE ENGINE TO DISCOVER A SPARK PLUG LAYING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND THE COIL THAT WAS ONCE ATTACHED BLOWN OFF OF THE PLUG AND DAMAGED OFF TO THE SIDE STILL CONNECTED TO ITS ELECTRICAL SOURCE. I HAVE AN 2003 FORD EXPEDITION SUV, THE SPARK PLUG IN THE #3 CYLINDER HEAD POPS OUT EVERY 5-8K MILES. RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER, PER THE 3 DEALERSHIPS I HAVE SPOKEN TO AS WELL AS THE B.A.R FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO FIX IT. PER THE B.A.R. IT IS AN CASTING/MANUFACTURING DEFECT. BRAKING SYSTEM DEGREDATION, ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 27K MILES. DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF DRIVING THE NEW VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM PERFORMED WORSE THAN THE 2000 EXPEDITION I HAD JUST TRADED IN. AFTER EXPLAINING THIS TO THE DEALER, THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS DURING THE FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. AFTER A ROUNTINE MAINTANENCE AT 26K MILES, I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS HAD 10% LIFE LEFT AND ALL FOUR ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ROTORS WERE BEYOND SPECIFICATIONS FOR TURNING. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS WORK AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. WE HAD EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST AND THEN AT 29,000 MILES WHEN WE WOULD TURN RIGHT IT BEGAN SQUEEKING. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED WE NEEDED BRAKE PADS (FIRST TIME CHANGING AND THEY WERE NOT EVEN TO THE METAL CLIP) AND THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE WORE DOWN BELOW THE SAFTEY LEVEL. DEALER MADE MANY EXCUSES LIKE TIRE SIZE, RIMS (THEY SALE EXACT RIMS AT DEALER) AND FINALLY STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW. WHEN CONTACTING FORD CUSTOMER CARE REP STATED THAT IT IS TOO SOON TO CHANGE BUT THAT THE REGIONAL MANAGER SAID IT IS MAINTANCE ISSUE AND THAT WE MUST PAY FOR THEM. THEY STATE THAT TECHNICAL BULLETIN (WHICH THEY HAVE ON PADS AND ROTORS) ARE NOT RECALLS SO EVEN IF THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY THE PRICE UNTIL THEY ARE FORCED TO DO AN OFFICIAL RECALL. ON DECEMBER 9, 2004, I DELIVERED MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION TO THE ASPEN TIRE AND AUTO CENTER IN CASTLE ROCK, CO FOR THE BRAKE REPAIRS UPON COMPLETION OF THE 30,000 MILE SERVICE AT THE MEDVED FORD DEALERSHIP IN CASTLE ROCK, CO. I HAD REPORTED TO FORD THAT THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING THAT MORNING AND CONTINUED TO SQUEAK FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. FORD ADVISED IT NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS, BUT I OPTED TO TAKE IT ELSEWHERE FOR THE REPAIRS. I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE ASPEN TIRE AND AUTO CENTER, 4978 FRONT STREET, CASTLE ROCK, CO 80104 AFTER MEDVED COMPLETED THE INITIAL WORK. WHEN THE ASPEN TIRE AND AUTO SERVICE TECHNICIANS EXAMINED THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THEY REPORTED TO ME THAT BOTH ROTORS WERE UNEVENLY WORN AND WARPED. ADDITIONALLY, THE LEFT CALIPER WAS NOT RELEASING PROPERLY. I WAS IN THE VICINITY AND WAS ABLE TO INSPECT THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM IN THEIR SERVICE CENTER. THE ASPEN TIRE AND AUTO CENTER BROUGHT THE RIGHT ROTOR TO MINIMUM SAFETY SPECIFICATIONS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO SALVAGE THE LEFT ROTOR. THEIR TECHNICIANS CLEANED THE BRAKE SYSTEM, WHICH ALLOWED BOTH CALIPERS TO PERFORM NORMALLY. BOTH ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. AS A FORD OWNER FOR THE PAST EIGHT YEARS, I NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A SIGNIFICANT AND UNSAFE DETERIORATION OF A BRAKING SYSTEM. IF THE REPAIRS TO THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS HAD NOT BEEN ADDRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DELIVER OPTIMAL BRAKING PERFORMANCE, ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY, OTHER MOTORIST, AND MYSELF. THIS VEHICLE NEVER PERFORMED ANY DRIVING ACTIVITIES THAT WOULD GREATLY ALTER THE NORMAL WEAR ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM. IT IS USED PRIMARILY AS A TRANSPORT VEHICLE TO AND FROM WORK, ON A RELATIVELY EVEN DRIVING SURFACE. THERE IS NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON WHY THIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THESE PROBLEMS WITH ONLY 33,131 MILES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT BRAKES ON THEIR VEHICLES.

AFTER A TECHNICIAN TOOK A TEST DRIVE WITH MY HUSBAND, THE TECHNICIAN DID NOTICE A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. My Ford Expedition started randomly stalling and it stalled in the highway. The engine just shut down in the middle of the highway and it was such a scary a life endangering experience. This total loss of power in the middle of the highway when vehicles are traveling at highway speeds can cause death very, very easily to the occupants of the Ford Expeditions suffering this defect. I have been reading in many forums ( I have included the link to one of many forums) this is a common defect [XXX] ) many have Ford Expedition owners have experienced and have been very concerned and shocked that there was not recall. The issue is that the R303 relay (non serviceable fuel pump relay) fails very commonly on Ford Expeditions. In my Ford Expedition, the relay was melted. The fuel pump relay fails and cuts all current going to the fuel pump causing the engine to stall. This is a life-threatening risk caused by a defective fuse box with a defective fuel pump relay (R303). There were no warnings, the Ford Expedition just stalled randomly. WAS DRIVING THE 2003 EXPEDITION ON INTERSTATE 10 NEAR PENSACOLA, WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP, LUCKILY I DID NOT CAUSE A WRECK AND MY FAMILY AND I WAS SAFE. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AT LEAST 10 SO FAR. WE HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH, THE FUEL FILTER, HAD THE INJECTORS INSPECTED AND IT STILL DOES IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH INTO THE PROBLEM AND IT TURNS OUT THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW LEAKS DOWN ONTO THE INTERIOR FUSE PANEL AND IS CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO SHORT OUT. IN ALL CASES ONCE THE VEHICLE COOLS DOWN, THE CAR STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 4 GARAGES AND NOW I HAVE IT AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN PENSACOLA. WHERE THEY ARE LOOKING AT IT. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE P0231 CODE KEEPS RE-APPEARING IN THE SYSTEM (FUEL PUMP RELAY CIRCUITRY) WHICH SHOWS THE PROBLEM COULD BE THE FUSE PANEL SINCE THE FUSES ARE SOLDERED TO THE BOARD AND NOT PLUGGED IN. 2003 FORD EXPEDITION HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM TO DRIVE SAFELY. HUSBAND HAS RETURNED VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER AND HAD THEM CHECKED, NOT LONG AFTER WE BOUGHT IT NEW. SERVICE DEPT SAYS HEADLIGHTS ARE FINE. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I FEEL THAT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE WITH THE DIMS ON, BECAUSE WE CAN'T SEE FAR ENOUGH IN FRONT OF US. THE BRGHTS ARE FINE, JUST THE DIMS SEEM TO BE FAULTY. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE LIKE THAT WHEN THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW, SO IT ISN'T SOMETHING THAT STARTED DETERIORATING WITH AGE. HUSBAND THOUGHT MAYBE THEY WERE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, AND HAD THEM CHECKED, BUT WAS TOLD THEY WERE FINE. WE OWN A FORD ECONOLINE VAN AND A FORD F-150 PICKUP AND BOTH OF THE OTHER FORD VEHICLES HAVE MUCH BETTER VISIBILITY THAN OUR 2003 EXPEDITION. DUE TO MOUNTAIN DRIVING IN A RURAL AREA IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, WE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SEE FAR ENOUGH IN FRONT OF US TO AVOID HITTING ANIMALS. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH TO SEE FAR ENOUGH IN FRONT OF US TO AVOID ROCKS IN THE ROAD OR EVEN DEER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN NIGHT DRIVING HERE. THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70+ IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND ENGAGED THE FLASHERS. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE MANEUVERING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AVOIDING MULTIPLE CLOSE CALLS. ONCE STOPPED, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE AUTOZONE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY FAULT CODES. ONE CODE INDICATED THE FUEL PUMP WAS AN ISSUE. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND DIRECTED ME TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT LOOK AT IT IMMEDIATELY SO I HAD MY SON PICK ME UP WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTICS ($95 FEE THAT WAS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY SINCE THIS IS A WELL KNOW FAILURE) ON THE CAR AND INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE FAULTY CENTRAL JUNCTION FUSE BOX LOCATED INSIDE THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE FEET. PN 3L1Z-14-A068-AA-A11 @$517. INSTALLATION COSTS $215. WHEN I GOT HOME I SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE BLOGS AND COMMENTS ARE OF MULTIPLE NEAR MISSED COLLISIONS AMONG OTHER THINGS. THIS PART FAILURE HAPPENED ON VEHICLES THAT WERE LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD. IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME TO ANY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. THIS PART WAS REDESIGNED FOR LATER FORD EXPEDITIONS BECAUSE FORD KNEW OF THE PROBLEM. THE ENGINE WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, OTHER TIMES WOULD SHUT OFF AT A STOP LIGHT. THE ISSUE HAPPENED 10 TIMES OVER A 3 DAY PERIOD. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT CRASH AS THE ENGINE DIED ONCE WHILE MAKING A TURN ON A BUSY ROAD. ONCE IT DIED, SO DID THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES - VERY SCARY. THERE WERE NO ENGINE CODES THAT CAME UP AND NO INDICATION ANYTHING WAS WRONG, THE ENGINE WOULD SIMPLY SHUT OFF. WHILE DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH THAT INDICATED IT COULD BE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS A NON-SERVICEABLE RELAY THAT IS SOLDERED TO THE MAIN FUSE BOX CIRCUIT BOARD. I REMOVED THE FUSE BOX AND DISASSEMBLED IT REVEALING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS GETTING HOT AND HAD MELTED THE SOLDER ON THE BOARD. WHEN THE RELAY COOLED, THE SOLDER MADE CONTACT AND THE ENGINE WOULD START RIGHT UP. WHEN DRIVING THE SOLDER WOULD WARM UP AND BREAK CONTACT. THIS WOULD SHUT THE FUEL PUMP OFF AND THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. THERE ARE REPORTS OF THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE ONLY REPAIR FOR THIS ITEM WAS TO REPLACE THE MAIN CIRCUIT BOARD AS THE RELAY CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT SOLDERING TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD. ONCE THE FUSE BOX WAS REPLACED, THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WE CHANGED THE BATTERY NEXT TIME I AM COMING TO A STOP AND THE CAR STOPS. NO BATTERY LIGHT, NO SERVICE LIGHT NOTHING. AGAIN I PULL OVER AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK INTO FORD. THIS TIME I GAVE THEM A THREAD OF EMAIL ABOUT OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. A LADY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF OUR 2003 FORD EXPEDITION CAUSING AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. THE DAY WAS CLEAR, THE WEATHER WAS WARM. MY WIFE HIT HER MONTE CARLO DOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED TO MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE, FOLLOWED BY CONTINUOUS POPPING LOUD POPPING NOISE LIKE A BROKEN EXHAUST MUFFLER, SOUNDED LIKE A MOTORCYCLE. AFTER INVESTIGATING, FOUND OUT THAT THE #3 SPARK PLUG POPPED OUT (EJECTED) OF THE HEAD CYLINDER, BROKE THE SPARK IGNITION COIL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I SMELLED FUEL, AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, SO I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR AND TOWED THE CAR HOME. I HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG AND REINSTALLED THE SPARK PLUG BUT IT SEEMED TO BE STILL LOOSE, SO I TOOK IT OUT AND PUT THREAD LOCK AND REINSTALLED IT BUT DID NOT TIGHTEN IT TO THE MAX AND DID NOT START THE CAR TILL AFTER 24 HOURS SO THE THREAD LOCK WILL HOLD IT IN PLACE. YESTERDAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO #8 SPARK PLUG, IT ALSO BROKE THE COIL, AND WHEN I TRIED TO INSTALL THE NEW SPARK PLUG, FOUND OUT THAT THE THREADS ON THE HEAD CYLINDER WILL NOT GRAB THE SPARK PLUG, AND NOW I AM STUCK WITHOUT A CAR. WHEN I ASKED AROUND, PEOPLE SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE FORD EXPEDTION. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD KILL SOMEONE IF THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE, BECAUSE I SMELLED GAS AND SMOKE. The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the engine was misfiring, and the contact smelled a burning odor inside the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on five occasions where it was diagnosed that water was leaking into the ignition coil. The independent mechanic installed silicon around the boot to prevent water from leaking into the coils; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact it was not a known failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 196,000.

bought truck 3/2/22 from Gold cAuto In troy NY. 3/7/22 went to take kids to school 2.5 inches of water set in my weather guard mats. seats soaked console everything in front cab reversed to pull out spot and water starting pouring on my and my kids from sides in pass sides front and the front windshield area omgand the sun roof was worst.kids had to go in myslef too it was snow still out.so that dayi oh sunroof needs to be blown out i said well that right frontdoor sounds open when its shut . same night i picked it up said all was good to go and his guy didn't hear any issues with door. the next snow it was worst this was about toward end of march. i called back around 3/15 said its still leaking dude i just want my money back for real and we are good, he said no doesnt work liek that said all his winshield guy he would take a lok at it and tell hijm ihe sent me. did that talked to the guy said he woudl call me the next day week went by so i called him back long story short he said he wasnt fixing it josh the dealer never pays him , i understood. called talked joshgoldstien told him he said well u just have to bring it in and let me have it for a few days he knows i could NOT NOT do that .leave because by now im having to leave apt and in hotel w/2 kids and im not even from here i know nobody. kids have to bev icked up ad dropped off no buses. i didnt and dont trust his people by this time so i didnt it comes out now the truck is dangerous the airbag on right side light has been von since i bought he said it was old truck it was fine no its busted the air bag. the right front seatbelt now is broke it would have to be completely replaced this in 2.5 months. then find truck is like flintstones the front cab from yrs i guess leaking is gone LITERALLY my 5 yr old fits the cab from underneath its should have never been inspec. the day i bought vthe refused to trade or give refund cussed and screamed at me whenever i came lights turnoff at night form damage nooil

WHILE PULLING INTO THE REST STOP THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN AND RESULTED IN A COLLISION BECAUSE OF NO STEERING OR BRAKES. THE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED 8 TIMES THAT DAY. WHILE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, I FOUND ON THE NHTSB WEBSITE THAT OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUSE BLOCK. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY SAID IT WAS A FUEL PUMP ISSUE. THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO DID FIND THAT IT WAS INDEED A FAULTY FUSE BLOCK. THE SAME MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD COME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS RUNNING WELL AND SUDDENLY IT DIE. NO LIGHTS IN DASH BOARD, NO SHAKES, NO ANY PREVIOUS SIGN OF TROUBLE. SIMPLY IT DIE. I PUMPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE CAR CONTINUE RUNNING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON 7/27/12 TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER BACK TO HER MOTHER, AS I HAD MY DAUGHTER DURING SUMMER VISITATION. HALF-WAY INTO MY TRIP (525 MILES ONE-WAY) IT STARTED TO RAIN AND I HYDRO-PLANED, RESULTING IN A ONE-CAR ACCIDENT. I SLID FROM THE INNER LANE (PASSING LANE), ACROSS THE OUTER LANE, INTO THE SHOULDER AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD-RAIL. IF NOT FOR THE GUARD-RAIL, MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE FALLEN ABOUT 30-FEET FROM THE INTERSTATE TO THE ELEVATION BELOW. AFTER THE RESPONDING DEPARTMENT ARRIVED (HIGHWAY PATROL AND LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS), WE EVALUATED THAT MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE OK PHYSICALLY. ONCE I STARTED TO EVALUATE THE DAMAGE, I LOOKED AT THE FRONT TIRES AND THEY ARE SEVERELY WARPED!! I'M NOT AN AUTOMOBILE AFICIONADO, BUT MY FRONT TIRES (BOTH) ARE COMPLETELY BALD ON THE OUTER PORTION OF THE TIRES, WHILE THE INNER THREADS ON THE TIRES SHOW LITTLE WEAR (THE TIRES ARE ONLY 2 YEARS OLD). FROM WHAT I HAVE GATHERED, THE "CUPPING" THE TIRES EXPERIENCED ARE FROM A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE FRONT END ALIGNMENT. I NOTICED SHORTLY INTO MY TRIP, THAT MY STEERING WHEEL HAD A MODERATE VIBRATION. I HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WHEN I USED TO OWN A 1997 FORD EXPLORER (IT ALWAYS NEED A FRONT END ALIGNMENT/ADJUSTMENT). WHY IS THERE NO WARNING LIGHT,OR SIGNAL OF ANY KIND WHEN THE PCM FAILS? OUR PCM FAILED, WHICH CAUSED OUR CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, 02 SENSORS, & FUEL PUMP TO FAIL. OUR IGNITION COILS HAD TO BE REPLACED. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. THIS HAS CAUSED OUR EXPEDITION ENGINE TO RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING COUNTLESS TIMES! I HAVE MIRACULOUSLY BEEN ABLE TO MANEUVER MY EXPEDITION TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY &HAVE IT TOWED EIGHT TIMES WITHOUT KILLING MYSELF, MY FAMILY OR ANY ONE ELSE! WE HAVE HAD ODD ELECTRICAL AND PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS SINCE AUGUST OF 2002 WHEN WE PURCHASED IT. NOT ONE FORD MECHANIC (3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS) COULD EVER DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR ISSUES. FORD DEALERSHIP "REPAIRED" OUR EXPEDITION BY REPLACING THE PCM ($1,300.00). 48 HOURS AFTER THEY REPLACED THE PCM, AND 18 MILES AFTER WE DROVE EXPEDITION OFF THE FORD LOT, THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD -FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! WE DROVE BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND HE SAID FOR $3,400 PLUS TAX HE COULD REPLACE OUR NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS IN "BANK ONE" THAT WERE DESTROYED AGAIN, & THE "BANK TWO" CONVERTERS WHICH ARE NOW VERY WEAK, NOT UP TO SPEC. THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOTOR THAT HAS BEEN FICKLE SINCE AUG OF 2002, STOPPED WORKING WHEN WE WENT TO PICK IT UP, SO I CAN'T DRIVE IT, BECAUSE I CAN'T REACH THE GAS OR BRAKE PEDALS. $800 WILL FIX THAT, FORD SAYS. FORD BUILD THIS JEEP THIS WAY SO PEOPLE CAN ONLY RETURN TO FORD FOR THE REPAIRS WHICH COST A LOT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY LOST TIRE PRESSURE. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED AN IDENTICAL FAILURE WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. A LOCAL TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THE VALVE STEM AS BEING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THEY MADE THE REPLACEMENT. AFTERWARDS, THE FAILURE RECURRED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE NEW SET OF VALVE STEMS WERE CORRODED AND DEFECTIVE. SHE CURRENTLY HAS POSSESSION OF THE VALVE STEMS. THE VALVE STEM INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 33,000.

BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED CONSTANTLY. PADS WEAR VERY FAST. ROTORS WEAR EASILY AND NEED REPLACEMENT WITH PADS EACH TIME. WHEN BROUGHT TO HAVE ROTORS TURN, WAS TOLD THEY ARE MANUFACTURED WITH VERY LITTLE TOLERANCE AND COULD NOT BE TURNED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS MINIMAL VISIBLE WEAR. WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT "MIC" WITH ENOUGH RANGE TO TOLERATE THE CUT WHEN TURNING. ROTORS SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACEMENT WITH EACH BRAKE CHANGE. EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST. BRAKE DUST HAS EATEN AWAY AT FINISH ON RIMS. AFTER LAST BRAKE REPAIR, FRONT END NOW HAS A CLICKING SOUND. BRAKE PEDAL HAS ALWAYS FELT SPONGY. ON TWO OCCASIONS WITH AGGRESSIVE BRAKING CONDITIONS, BRAKES LOCKED UP. TOLD DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THIS IS NORMAL WITH THE FORD BRAKING SYSTEMS. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE FOG LAMP NOT STAYING LIT AND THE METAL REFLECTOR PIECE IN THE FOG LAMPS COMING LOOSE. FIRST, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I CONTINUED TO GO AROUND THE VEHICLE OPENING AND SHUTTING THE DOORS AND THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. CONSUMER COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE SINCE THE LIGHT CAME ON, AND HAD TO GET A JUMP TO START IT. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF THIS THE BATTERY WAS FINALLY RUINED, AND I WAS FORCED TO BUY A NEW ONE. I USED LUBRICANTS TO TRY AND CLEAR DEBRIS FROM THE DOOR SENSORS AND THIS WORKED FOR 3 MONTHS. NOW IT WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. TALKED TO DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE 600 DOLLARS PER SENSORS. NOTHING WRONG WITH SENSOR ITS JUST DIRTY. SECOND, THE REAR AC IS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND WILL NOT CONTROL TEMPERATURE. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY THIS TIME, THE RADIO WOULD NOT TURN OFF (KEY OUT OF IGNITION AND DOORS OPEN) THE CHIME KEPT GOING OFF AND THE BATTERY WENT DEAD BECAUSE I DID NOT DISCONNECT IT. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD LEAKS, FROM THE FACTORY, AND WATER DRIPS DOWN ONTO THE COMPUTER MODULE AND FUSE BOX. I CHECKED MY FUSE BOX AND I DID HAVE DRIPPING WATER IN IT ALONG WITH CORRODED CONNECTORS, INSIDE THE VEHICLE, INDICATION LONG TERM INTRUSION OF WATER. THIS CAUSES ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. UPON INSPECTING MY OEM WINDSHIELD I FOUND IT COMPLETELY SEPARATED AT THE TOP AND I COULD SEE LIGHT BETWEEN THE GLASS AND SEAL. I NOW HAVE TO BUY A NEW WINDSHIELD ALONG WITH FUSE BLOCK AND COMPUTER CRAP. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THAT THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, AS MENTIONED, IS NOT SEALED. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD INTEGRITY IS A HUGE PART OF THE STRENGTH OF THE VEHICLE AND THE WINDSHIELD IS USED TO SUPPORT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IN CASE OF DEPLOYMENT. ON AUGUST 26,2006 TOOK MY SUV TO DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE THE FRONT END WAS SHAKING REALLY BAD. ON SEPT 8, 2006 TOOK BACK TO DEALER BECAUSE I HEARD A WHINNING NOISE THOUGHT IT WAS THE POWER STEERING FLUID LOW. IT CHECKED OUT OKAY DEALER CHECK IT AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD HAD IT REPLACE. PICKED UP MY SUV AND IT WAS STILL MAKING THE SAME NOISE. I OWN A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION THAT HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS SINCE DAY ONE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO MORE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND THAT NO EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT. IT IS CONSIDERED TO BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A FAULTY LATCH AND SWITCH COULD END UP BEING MY FAULT. I HAVE AUTHORIZED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR NEEDLESS TO SAY IT IS NOT WORTH THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN, BUT I AM STILL UNSURE HOW A FAULTY PART IS DEEMED THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER. I PURCHASED THE 2003 EXPLORER IN NOV 2003. ON 6/16/04, 8/17/04,AND FINALLY ON 8/20/04, I COMPLAINED REGARDING THE FUEL GUAGE NOT REGISTERING A FULL TANK. FORD FINALLY REPLACED FUEL TANK. ON DEC 10, 2004, I BROUGHT THE CAR IN BECAUSE WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, A WHINING AND CLUNKING NOICE COULD BE HEARD. ALSO, BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE CAR DOESN'T START. PASSENGER-FRONT TIRE RECEIVED AN IMPACT IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HIT WAS A "SIDE-CRASH" WHERE ONLY THE TIRE AND A SMALL AREA OF THE OUTSIDE FRAMING ABOVE THE WHEEL WERE DAMAGED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE TRUCK SPARKED AND IGNITED ON IMPACT. THE TRUCK WAS IN FULL FLAMES IN THE TIRE AND ENGINE AREA WITHIN 9-11 MINUTES. SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THIS 2003 EXPEDITION WE HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED DUE TO NOISE AND LOOSE STRIPPING, THEN, THE CONTRACTING PERSON PUT IN THE WRONG YEARS WINDSHIELD. THE EMISSIONS CANISTER WAS CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED. THE MUFFLER WOULD POP AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, BUT COULDN'T BE FIXED UNTIL VERIFIED BY FORD. I WAITED FOR 3-4 HOURS ONE DAY WITH 3 CHILDREN WHILE THEY LET MY CAR RUN AND SHUT OFF. WE FINALLY CALLED AHEAD, AND HAD THEM WAIT OUTSIDE ON US UNTIL WE KILLED THE ENGINE TO HEAR IT POP. IT WAS A POOR MUFFLER WELD AND WAS REPAIRED. THE SIDE MOLDING RATTLED BADLY, AND WAS TERRIBLY FADED, AND THAT WAS REPLACED. THE DOOR GETS A LOT OF WIND NOISE , AND A WHISTLE IN THE WINDOW. THEY SAID WINDOW PASSED THE DOLLAR BILL TEST AND WAS FINE BUT IT STILL WHISTLES. THEY, PUT A CLEAR STRIP ALONG INSIDE OF DOOR TO HELP NOISE. IT DOESN'T. THEN ,THE REAR CONTINENTAL TIRE HAD SUCH HORRIBLE, UNEVEN WEAR, IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. BOUGHT NEW TIRES FOR $600. THEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL MALFUNCTIONED, AND WOULD MAKE A GRINDING ON TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THEY FIXED THAT IN MARCH 2005, AND IT JUST STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. NOW, THERE IS A STRANGE NOISE WHEN REVVING THE ENGINE TO DRIVE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. IT IS GOING IN TOMORROW FOR THE NOISE AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL.
