IN 2011, MY INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE STOPPED OPENING THE DOOR BUT DIDN'T COME OFF. I THOUGHT IT JUST BROKE AND WOULD GET IT FIXED WHEN I COULD AFFORD TO. BUT THEN IN 2012, THE BACK INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF IN MY SON'S HAND BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR AND GET OUT AND IT WOULDN'T UNLATCH. NOT TOO LONG AFTER, THE DRIVER SIDE BACK INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF IN MY HAND. NOW I WAS POSITIVE THERE HAD TO BE RECALL OF SOME SORT. SO I WENT SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ONLINE. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH [XXX]. I EVEN TOOK MY CAR IN AND HE SAID MY VIN WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH HANDLE RECALL. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT CONSIDERING I HAD MULTIPLE HANDLES THAT BROKE OFF WITHOUT ANY FORCE AT ALL. AS THE DRIVER, I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR OPENING ALL PASSENGER DOORS TO LET PEOPLE OUT OF MY CAR. TODAY, JANUARY 20TH, 2017, THE DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF RIGHT IN MY HANDS. NOW, NOT EVEN I AS THE DRIVER CAN GET OUT WITHOUT THE WINDOW BEING DOWN TO ACCESS THE EXTERIOR HANDLE. The brake is so far left, it is unsafe to drive. It is in the position the clutch would in an a Manual transmission and my right foot has trouble moving that far over and its unsafe to use my left as i'm never braked with my left foot.

DRIVING VEHICLE BRAKE FUNCTION SEEMS NORMAL, BUT RANDOMLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL DEPRESS FAR LOWER IN ORDER TO BRAKE. AFTER A FEW PUMPS IT RISES AND BRAKES AT A HIGHER POSITION. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG, ALSO DURING WEEK LONG TEST DRIVE MECHANIC DID NOT HAVE SAME EXPERIENCE. I HAVE HAD THE EXPERIENCE 5-6 TIMES, AND SPOUSE HAS ALSO HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL GO TOO FAR DOWN BEFORE IT BRAKES. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH & LO SPEEDS STREET & HIGHWAY. IT IS VERY RANDOM TOO, DOES NOT HAPPEN ON EVERY VEHICLE USE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH MY VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE BY ITSELF. I WOULD BRAKE HARD AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV HIGH. I RAN TWO STOP SIGNS. I TRIED TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO GO. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO SHUT IT OFF WHILE DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 2 MILES I SWUNG THE VEHICLE INTO A VACANT LOT BRAKED HARD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS TOOK PLACE ON A TWO WAY CITY STREET.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY COMING TO A RED LIGHT AND I LEFT OFF THE PEDAL AND MY VEHICLE KEPT GOING IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. THE RPMS FINALLY CAME DOWN AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP. THEN I WENT HOME AND PUT IT IN PARK AND THE RPMS WENT UP ON ITS ON. ALL THE WAY UP TO 3K RPM. I HAD TO PUT MY FOOT UNDER THE PEDAL AND PULL UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BOTH NOTED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD BECOME JAMMED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE BATTERY WAS THEN DISCONNECTED SO THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IGNITE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 99,000.

MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE COMING INTO A CUB TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MADE A SUDDEN STOP IN AN EMERGENCY PANIC I HIT MY BRAKES AND MY EXPEDITION NEVER ATTEMPTED TO STOP. AS I EXPLAINED TO TWO OF OFFICERS ON THE SCENE I WAS STANDING ON MY BRAKES AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY I WAS GIVEN INFORMATION FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY THERE WAS A RASH OF PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. FOLLOWING THE REPAIRS THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BRAKE AND DISCOVERED FROM THE COMPUTER THERE WAS A PROBLEM PRIOR TO ME HAVING THE ACCIDENT. THE DAY I WENT TO PICK IT UP AFTER THREE WEEKS IN THE SHOP FOR BRAKES ALONE AGAIN I WAS PUT INTO MY FOURTH RENTAL VEHICLE BECAUSE THE TRUCK NEVER LEFT THE SHOP. TODAY MY BRAKES STILL WILL NOT STOP PROPERLY AND TO TOP IT OFF AFTER GIVING FORD A COPY OF THE RECALL FOR THE BRAKES, SENSORS, AND TRANSMISSION BY THE WAY OF WHICH THE DEALERSHIP HAS SUPPOSEDLY ADJUSTED PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT I STILL GOT STUCK WITH THE REPAIR BILLS. I TALKED WITH A CERTIFIED FORD BRAKE SPECIALIST THE DAY I GOT MY VEHICLE FROM THE SHOP AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED, WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID AND DID AS WELL AS MY BRAKES STILL GO TO FLOOR BUT NOT TO MY SURPRISE HE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT RIGHT AND NEEDED TO GO BACK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STILL IN NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BUT THE DEALERSHIP INSIST THESE BRAKE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE SOFT AND SQUISHY AS THE SHOP FOREMAN TOLD ME. ON SEPTEMBER 4, 2011 ATTEMPTING TO APPLY MY BRAKES DUE TO A VEHICLE THAT ABRUPTLY STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP FEELING AS IF THE BRAKES WERE NOT GRIPPING I HIT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE FORD DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE REAR BRAKE TO INCLUDE INSTALLING A NEW REAR BRAKE LINE KIT STATING THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FRONT AS THEY HAD NOT WORN DOWN YET. NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT ABS I INQUIRED ABOUT WHY THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN AND THE FRONT BRAKES WERE STILL GOOD, I CANNOT REMEMBER THE EXPLANATION THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE GAVE BUT I FELT IT WAS NOT RIGHT. SIX MONTHS LATER MY BRAKES DON''T ALLOW ME TO STOP WHEN AN EMERGENCY ARISES PUTTING MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN DANGER ALONG WITH THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF US HAD WE ALREADY BEEN ON THE FREEWAY. I CAN''T SAY FOR SURE IF IT WAS THE FRONT OR THE REAR BRAKES THAT SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN BUT IT DID NOT ATTEMPT TO STOP COMING INTO A DOWNHILL CURVE UNTO THE FREEWAY. THERE WAS NO HESITATION IN THE BRAKES NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED THEM TO STOP. MY TRUCK WAS PUT IN PARK AND I COULDN'T PUT THE CAR IN GEAR. I WAS STRANDED WITH MY FAMILY FOR 1 1/2 . I HAD TO DO RESEARCH SO I WENT TO THE INTERNET ON MY CELL PHONE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH. I ALSO READ THE MANUAL AND IT SAID TO REPLACE THE FUSE . I DID THAT AND IT STILL WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. I HAD MY WIFE STAND IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WHILE I DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE LIGHT WOULDN'T GO ON. Since I have owned this vehicle when ever you fill up with fuel when the gas pump clicks off fuel spews back out the filler tube. I have asked dealers if anyone else has this problem and am told no. I believe this is a safety hazzard when gasoline runs down the side of vehicle and onto the ground. Ford does not acknowlege and problem. I'm sure there are other vehicles with the same problem.

When filling the gas tank, even at the slowest setting on the gas pump, when the pump clicks to indicate the tank is full, 5 seconds later the tank burps fuel everywhere and the tank is only 3/4 full. The fumes are a safety risk to people, the fuel on the ground is bad for the environment, and there have been instances when I have been sprayed with fuel. I took the vehicle to my local mechanic and they were not able to find anything wrong. I took the vehicle to the local Ford dealership and they indicated everything was working properly. I took the vehicle back to Ford again and I was told the only other possible thing to do would be to replace the fuel tank, but the fuel tank is not produced anymore and is obsolete. There are no warning indicators to this problem with the vehicle.

I received a 2008 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition as a birthday gift last October. By January, the passenger window completely quit working. One warm, sunny day, we decided to open the sunroof. We have never had issues with the sunroof malfunctions. A storm moved in and temperatures quickly dropped (we are on the TN/AL stateline, we get all four seasons in one day sometimes). The sunroof would NOT close. It would move forward maybe halfway and then back to completely open. We struggled for HOURS, had to purchase bags, duct tape, and several other items to close the opening. I had to purchase a hotel room for the night because there was no way it would stay in place for another 100 miles. The next day driving home, we stopped at a Co-Op and a gentleman helped us FORCE the sunroof closed. Since then, we have disconnected the button that cracks the rear two windows and sunroof. My truck interior was soaked. My twin girls were cold and miserable, as I was too. We could not afford that hotel room but had no other option.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH downhill, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle spun out of control. The rear-end of the vehicle clipped a telephone pole and spun around in the other direction, the vehicle then went down an embankment and crashed into a rock wall. The contact stated that the air bags deployed as needed. The contact stated that she had a fractured ankle but was unsure whether the injury was from the crash or prior to the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and then towed to the contact’s grandmother’s home. The vehicle was not repaired. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.

IN THESE BLOGS THE INDIVIDUALS STATED THAT THE FORD DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM IN EACH BLOG THAT I FOUND WITH THIS PROBLEM. MANY OF THESE BLOGS WERE SEVERAL YEARS OLD SO I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER WHO INDICATED HE KNEW NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE SINCE THE TRACTION CONTROL DOES NOT RETAIN FAULTS. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND COULD ONLY ADVISE ME TO TAKE IT TO A FORD SERVICE LOCATION TO CHECK OUT. I’m currently in the process of selling and found out through a car history report that my vehicle passed an emission inspection at 230,000 miles in February 2023 and was also purchased from an auction, a month before I purchased it. The owner did not give any of this information and tampered with the odometer. I ran a vehicle history report today August 20, 2025 and retrieved all of this information that was not presented to me during this transaction.

WHILE DRIVING MY EXPEDITION EL ON THE HIGHWAY AND ROUNDING A CURVE AT 65 MPH, THE ENGINE DIED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND COAST TO A STOP IN A SAFE LOCATION. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, BUT THEN STARTED AND RAN NORMALLY. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AND DROPPED IT OFF. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FUEL PUMP FAILURE, AND INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER AND THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE A DELIVERY DATE. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR 5 WEEKS, AND HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. AFTER FIRST OFFERING TO HELP WITH CAR RENTAL EXPENSES, I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH RENTAL EXPENSES. DRIVER FIRST NOTICED THE SMELL OF BURNING BRAKES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, ALL AT LOW SPEEDS (SPEED LIMIT WAS 35MPH OR LESS). AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION, DRIVER NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. DRIVER GOT OUT TO INSPECT THE WHEEL, AND NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER AND BRAKE ROTOR WERE EXTREMELY HOT AND SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THEM. OTHER THREE WHEELS WERE COOL (NORMAL). THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, ETC. TURNED OFF CAR, BACK ON, IN THE HOPE OF E.G. RESETTING THE ABS CONTROLLER -- NO CHANGES. BRAKES WERE SO HOT THAT DRIVER DECIDED TO DRIVE SOME NEARBY FRONTAGE ROADS AT LOW SPEEDS, WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES, IN AN ATTEMPT TO COOL THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE. MADE LITTLE DIFFERENCE. EVENTUALLY PARKED THE VEHICLE (BRAKING CONTINUED TO BE IMPAIRED), CAME BACK AROUND 1 HOUR LATER, BRAKE HAD COOLED DOWN, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. SIMILAR INSTANCE RECURRED ON 2012-12-18 -- AGAIN, RIGHT FRONT BRAKE, THIS TIME IN CITY DRIVING, ROTOR WAS GLOWING ORANGE (NOT YET ON FIRE) ON A COLD NIGHT WHEN DRIVER STOPPED TO LOOK AT IT AND PARK THE VEHICLE. THIS IS OF COURSE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF LIFE DUE TO FRONT BRAKE FAILURE. DRIVER IS AWARE THAT THERE IS A RECALL ( 07E105000) ASSOCIATED WITH THIS YEAR OF THE VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED THIS 2008 EXPEDITION LAST FALL WITH THE INTENSION OF TOWING A TRAILER ACROSS COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY CAME WITH HIGH REVIEWS AND COMFORT. WE FIRST NOTICED THE DRIFTING WHEN WE PICKED UP THE TRAILER. THE TRAILER FULLY LOADED IS ABOUT 6,200 POUNDS. WE HAVE A STABILIZER HITCH THAT WE USED TO TOW WITH. WE TOOK THE SUV INTO A DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. A MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THEY CHECK THE CAMBER'S. THE DEALER SAID ALL WAS FINE. WE TOOK IT ON A 7,000 MILE TRIP TOWING THE TRAILER AND IMMEDIATELY DISCOVERED THAT THE TOWING ABILITY WAS DANGEROUS. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. IN ALL CASES, NO WIND OR WITH EVER THE SLIGHTEST WIND, THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND THE TRAILER WOULD WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH MAKING IT EXHAUSTING TO STEER. WITH HIGH GUSTS IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER EVEN AT 45 MPH, IT WOULD DRIFT FROM SIDE TO SIDE MAKING IT EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL, AND THE TRAILER FISH-TAILING BEHIND US. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS. WE COULD NOT GO OVER 55-60 MPH ON A WIND FREE DAY AND FEEL ANYWHERE SAFE. WE TOOK IT INTO THE SAME DEALER WHEN WE GOT BACK HOME AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. WE TOOK IT INTO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY ALSO TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND SAID THEY COULD NOT SEE ANY PROBLEMS.
