While driving at highway speeds very quickly the speedometer went to 0 , the fuel low warning came on , the transmission locked up dragging the rear wheels and engine goes to high rpm , this has happened numerous times , I’ve checked with local ford dealership and they tell me there are no updates for my vehicle , when this situation happens I pull over to the side of the road and shut vehicle off , count to ten and restart , drive away and wait for the next instance. I have read where earlier ford products have had this same issue. One additional item on this unit , it has a sporadic 1.5 amp drain that will kill the battery sometimes , very sporadic. Myself and two others have tried to find this drain but unsuccessfully , took to dealership and $500 later still same issue so I found a electronic battery shutoff with a key fob that disconnects the battery to prevent battery draw , but doing this prevents codes from storing , I have recently started leaving vehicle hooked up to automatic tricle charger to prevent battery from being drained so I can get codes stored up for dealership to troubleshoot at a cost to me off $150 to plug up and read codes. Does that come with lube or will that cost extra ?

While traveling at 40 mph the car suddenly shifted into first gear. At that time the speedometer, trip odometer, and gas mileage indicator all quit working and the service wrench appeared on the reader. The rear tires locked up sending the car into a skid that took the vehicle into the on coming lane luckily not resulting in an accident thanks to the quick reaction of the driver occupying that line. The car was pulled over and shutdown and the system went into limp mode on start up. After taking it to an independent mechanic I was informed that the code P0720 indicating a fault in the Output Speed Sensor, popped when hooked up to computer by the head mechanic. They directed me to Ford as their is a current recall on this model of transmission for 2014 Ford F-150s and 2013 Ford Expeditions and that I should submit an incident to the NHTSA so they are aware that this issue is present in more vehicles with the 6R80 transmission than those currently on the Ford recall.

The key to start/stop the vehicle engine could not be removed from the ignition steering column due to a problem with the gear shifter. The gear shifter (on the floor, not the column) thought the car was not in park even though the engine was off and IN park. The auto is available for inspection and I took it to Christian Brothers and they are replacing the shift assembly, FORD part number BL1Z-7210-CA. The vehicle only has 75,500 miles on it and I am the original owner and bought it new. The key not being able to be removed when the car is off and in park causes confusion for the driver and concern that the car could be stolen, even with a spare key to access the locked vehicle with the other key in the ignition. Two days prior to the key being locked in the steering column, the shifter began to have a mushy feel to it. My other concerns were the steering wheel to be placed in a locked position while driving the car due to problems with the shifter. The vehicle has not be inspected by the manufacturer or insurance company, just Christian Brothers who is replacing the entire shift assembly, with a cost around $945.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the transmission downshifted to first gear unexpectedly, causing the rear tires to lock-up. The vehicle drove off the road into a ditch. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had not sustained any injury and was able to drive to the nearby residence. The contact is an independent mechanic. The contact scanned the vehicle and retrieved DTC code: P1500, indicating a rear output speed sensor failure. The contact determined that the TCM needed to be replaced. The contact purchased the TCM from the dealer and replaced the TCM. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

While driving it would hard downshift and speedometer would glitch, speedometer wouldn't work, all power would go out. I had the work fixed at Ford. They have confirmed that it is the same part that was recalled on the 2014 F150s but the Ford Expeditions are not included. This almost killed me and my daughter driving on icy roads.

TRAVELING APROX 45-50 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN A SUBURBAN PULL OUT IN FRONT OF WITH ABOUT 55 FEET AND I HIT THE TRAILER THEY WERE PULLING HEAD ON AND THEN IT SPUN ME SIDEWAYS AND INTO A 5 FT DEEP DITCH AND CAME TO ABRUPT STOP FROM THE FRONT NOSE DOWN. NONE OF OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, FOR EITHER MYSELF OR MY PASSENGER. WE WERE BOTH TAKEN BY AMBULANCE AND SUSTAIN CONTUSIONS, BACK AND NECK INJURIES.BOTH VEHICLES WER EIN MOTION AND IT OCCURED ON A HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 55 AND I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, THEY PULLED OUT FROM A SIDE ROAD.

TRAFFIC ON HWY CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP FROM AROUND 60 MPH. I APPLIED THE BRAKES VERY HARD AND CAME TO A SAFE STOP. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME DID NOT STOP AND REAR ENDED ME AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THERE WERE 3 PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE, ALL WEARING SEATBELTS, AND NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG WENT OFF!!! THE SENSORS TO PREVENT CAR FROM STARTING AFTER AN ACCIDENT ACTIVATED AND CAR WOULD NOT START. BECAUSE MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE STILL AT TIME OF IMPACT, THERE WERE NO LIFE THREATENING INJURIES, BUT WERE SOME INJURY. THE NYS POLICE AT THE SCENE WERE SURPRISED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF.

THIS VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A SEMI TRUCK ON A SURFACE STREET. BOTH VEHICLES WERE IN MOTION; THE SEMI TURNED INTO OUR VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE DRIVER SIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL AND A PILLAR WERE DESTROYED, THE FRONT BUMPER SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE, AND THE B AND C PILLARS ON THE DRIVER SIDE ALONG WITH PARTS OF THE DOORS WERE IMPACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS, MY WIFE REQUIRED EMERGENCY CARE, AND THE EXPEDITION SUSTAINED OVER 25K IN DAMAGE BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. NONE OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS COULD UNDERSTAND WHY BASED ON THEIR EXPERIENCE RESPONDING TO ACCIDENTS. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated while his father was driving 60 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver pulled over to the side of the road temporarily. The driver was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The contact who is an independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle. The contact determined that the failure was related to an unstated recall. The contact stated that the failure fractured the rocker arms, causing the needle bearings to intrude into engine. The contact determined that the engine needed to be replaced. Air conditioner stopped working; we pulled to side of street and shut engine off. Restarted engine and smoke started coming out of air conditioner vent on passenger side then out of front dash. Shut engine off again and called AAA for tow truck. Tow truck came about an hour and a half later. Tow truck driver turned ignition key to put car in neutral and began pulling it up onto flat bed. Smoke started coming from front area of dash and out through vents at bottom of windshield. Tow truck driver rolled car back down onto street. Smoke got extremely thick. My husband opened front passenger door and saw fire in the floor under the glove box. He tried to pick up this piece of equipment to throw it out of the car thinking it would save the rest of the vehicle, and this is how he got burned fingers. The fire quickly started spreading and we tried to get some belongings out of car while tow truck driver called 911. Fire Department came and put out fire. Vehicle was totally burned up. There were no warnings of any kind before the incident. Husband had third degree burns on fingers of right hand. If we hadn't been stopped and engine shut off, we possibly could have been killed because the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames within three minutes after fire began.

THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL KEEPS CORRODING CAUSING THE TERMINAL TO MELT. THE TERMINAL MELTS AND VEHICLE DOESN'T CRANK. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TERMINAL SYSTEM TWICE WHICH IS VERY COSTLY.

My A/C went out, but began coming on and shutting off. I drove from my home to work, approximately 6 miles, and parked in the parking lot. In the parking lot, I began to smell burning and my SUV began smoking. I turned my SUV off and got out of the car. As I got out, coolant was pouring onto the pavement. When the hood was popped, we noted the coolant boiling which caused the cap to pop off and the coolant to pour out. I had my vehicle towed to Coconut Point Ford to be diagnosed. I was told there was a fuse blown, the control unit and wire harness was melted and the interior blower motor needed to be replaced. Upon research, I noted the 2015-2017 blower motors were recalled for this exact reason. I thought my truck was going to catch fire. I have videos of everything as it was happening and will share if needed.

2014 FORD EXPEDITION EL KING RANCH V8 5.4L 3V - 90,000 MILES VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT MIMICKING A STALL. SHAKING BECAME MORE INTENSE AS WE SLOWED SPEED INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND AGAIN BECAME MORE INTENSE UPON SHIFTING INTO PARK. CODE SCANNER BROUGHT UP A CYLINDER 8 MISFIRE. REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS(BECAUSE 90K IS ABOUT WHEN YOU SHOULD) AND CYLINDER 8 COIL, NO POSITIVE RESULTS. CODE SCANNER NOW THROWS OUT A RANDOM MISFIRE CODE, CYLINDER 3, AND CYLINDER 8 MISFIRE. BROUGHT TO A GARAGE AND THE DIAGNOSTIC THEY RAN SHOWED THE CAM PHASER HSA FAILED. THIS MUST BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM TO FORD AS THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF INFORMATION EASILY FOUND ONLINE AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE ISSUE FOR 5.4L ENGINES FOR 2008-2012.

Both my third row seat belts, driver and passenger side, have come unstitched. Luckily we were not needing them, my son was buckling up at the time of failure. I have an extended warranty on the car from Ford and was told they cover the second row seat belts but not the third row.

The contact stated that the seat belt warning light failed to illuminate with a passenger seated in the front passenger’s seat without the seat belt securely fastened. The driver's side seat belt alarm operated correctly. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who could not duplicate the failure with the alarm. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not equipped with a front passenger’s side seat belt sensor alarm. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,519.

IN 2015 LEFT FRONT STRUT FOUND TO BE LEAKING AT 3/3/2015 AT APPROX 10,00 MILES REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT ONLY THAT STRUT.. IN 2016 BOTH REAR STRUTS FOUND LEAKING AT 25,000 MILES. BOTH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. 3/3/2019 AT 45,00 MILES RIGHT FRONT STRUT FOUND LEAKING. MECHANIC NOTED OK TO GO TO NEXT OIL CHANGE. (/16/20 RT FRONT STRUT STILL FOUND LEAKING BUT LITTLE PROGRESSION. DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL 20121 AS NO ACCELERATED TIRE WEAR NOTED OVER THE LAST YEAR. FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED ALL STRUTS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE LEFT FRONT AND BOTH REARS WERE FOUND LEAKING.. PHOTOS NOT CLEAR TO ME.

OUR 2014 FORD EXPEDITION HAS DEFECTIVE SHOCK ABSORBERS WHICH LEAK OIL. ON 4/21/17, WITH 21,132 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER, WHICH WAS LEAKING OIL, UNDER WARRANTY. ON 11/17/17 THE FORD DEALER, WITH 27,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS WHICH WERE BOTH LEAKING OIL. THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS VIRGINIA SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS ALSO DONE UNDER WARRANTY. NOW, ON 4/30/20 WITH 49,851 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER, WHICH WAS REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALER AT 27,000 MILES, IS LEAKING OIL. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, A LOCAL GARAGE IS REPLACING THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER. THE FORD MOTORCRAFT SHOCK ABSORBERS USED ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN USED HIGHWAY USE ONLY AND NEVER FOR ANY OFF-ROAD USE

ALL 4 OF OUR STRUTS HAVE A SLOW LEAK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NEVER ONCE OWNED A VEHICLE THAT ALL 4 STRUTS LEAKED AT THE SAME TIME.. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ONLY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY. JUST FOUND OUT TODAY

My mother in law contacted me and stated her 2014 ford expedition’s transmission felt like it was failing. I drove same the next day. As I was test driving the vehicle at approximately 60mph down a U.S. highway, I hear a “clunk” noise and then immediately the RPMs went up and the vehicle downshifted into 1st gear causing the vehicles’s wheel to lock up. I went sliding down the highway and luckily didn’t not collide with another vehicle. I had the vehicle scanned and same displayed PO722 output speed sensor codes. After further research, I discovered that her transmission is the same model and design as the 6R80 transmissions that were installed from 2011-2017. The 6R80 transmission lead frames were recalled for years 2011-2013 for the exact same safety issue that I encountered. For some reason Ford has done nothing for the 2014 models. This is a huge safety concern. Myself as well as my child could have been seriously hurt or worse as well as the other innocent motorists that were driving around me. Now we are forced to pay $1500 to have a safety issue fixed that in my opinion should be covered due to the safety concern as well as the fact that Ford is already aware of this lead frame issue that occurs in the previous year model. I understand that things happen and parts break but there is no excuse for a vehicle to downshift into 1st gear while traveling 60 and 70mph down the highway and nothing be done to fix the issue from the manufacturer.

As I was driving on the freeway my transmission downshifted and my rear wheels locked up and I lost control of my vehicle with all 4 of my children in the car with me! After this happened the check engine light came on and I had the code read at my local auto parts store and the error code was P0720 for the output shaft sensor which is located on the lead frame inside my transmission. I called my Ford dealer to get a quote to fix my car and was told based on my VIN the part number for the faulty part is AL3Z7G276D. When I looked up this part number on the internet I found that this part was recalled for the same exact thing that happened to me except that the current recall didn’t include my model year and build. I’m confused as to why if the recalled part number is in my truck and I almost died along with all 4 of my children because of it that my car is not covered in this safety recall.

ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2020, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK FROM CHURCH, APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES. IT WAS PARKED ON A GRAVEL DRIVE WAY, IN PARK, AND THE KEY REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS EXITED AT APPROXIMATELY 12:35PM. AT 2:46PM IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UP AGAINST A TOWABLE MAN-LIFT WITH THE TONGUE OF IT INSIDE THE FRONT GRILL OF THE VEHICLE. THE KEYS WERE RETRIEVED FROM THE HOME'S DINING ROOM TABLE A SHORT TIME LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF OF THE MAN-LIFT AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET TO ASSURE THAT IT DID NOT ROLL AGAIN. IT WAS NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED, IN 'PARK', AND EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL. AT THIS POINT IT WAS REALIZED THAT A RING CAMERA WAS OBSERVING THE AREA. THE VIDEO WAS RETRIEVED TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THE VIDEO SHOWS THAT AT 12:41PM, SIX MINUTES AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN ROLLING UNATTENDED, AND CAME TO RESET AGAINST THE MAN-LIFT. SHORTLY THEREAFTER ALL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE BY ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE KEYS WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN PARK, ETC. THE INCIDENT COULD NOT BE RECREATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REYNOLDS FORD OKC THE NEXT MORNING. THE VIDEO OF THE EVENT HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO REYNOLDS FORD OKC. I HAVE WORKED WITH THE SERVICING DEALER TO NOTIFY FORD CORP. OF THIS EVENT. THEIR COUNSEL HAS ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY IN THE EVENT. I BEG TO DISAGREE. NO VEHICLE SHOULD EVER ROLL WHEN IN PARK, THE KEYS REMOVED AND THE DOORS LOCKED. I HAVE A RING CAMERA VIDEO OF THE EVENT THAT WAS SHARED WITH REYNOLDS FORD AND FORD CORP. I WILL BE HAPPY TO SHARE IT WITH YOU BUT YOUR DOCUMENTATION FORMAT WILL NOT ACCEPT VIDEOS.

THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT ALWAYS CLOSE AND SECURE. THE DOOR LATCH SOMETIMES STAYS IN THE OPEN OR CLOSED POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. UNSAFE AS YOU WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR UNSECURED.ALSO THE SHIFTING LEVER WILL OCCASIONALLY STICK IN PARK AND WILL NOT COME OUT EVEN AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKE. UNSAFE IF YOU HAVE TO STOP AND PUT IN PARK ON SIDE OF ROAD OR HIGHWAY YOU CAN'T TAKE IT OUT OF PARK WHEN CLEAR TO DO SO. DEALER SAID THEY CAN NOT REPAIR BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN MOTION WAS TO DRIVE WITH DRIVERS DOOR NOT SECURED.

WHEEL NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. JUST A WEEK PRIOR I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND THE NUTS WERE REMOVED WITHOUT INCIDENCE. HAD THEY BEEN SWOLLEN AT THE TIME I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF TOWN FROM FAMILY/FRIENDS ALONE. THE TOW COMPANY, DUE TO COVID, COULD NOT TAKE ME TO WHERE MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN TOWED. LUCKILY, THE NUTS WERE ABLE TO BE REMOVED AT THE TIME OF FLAT.

LOW TIRE SENSOR KEPT GOING OFF. KEPT TAKING VEHICLE TO NORTH CASCADE FORD AND LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTERS TO HAVE SENSORS RESET AND TIRES CHECKED. DIFFERENT TIRES AT DIFFERENT TIMES WERE LOW. STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 41000 MILES. ON OCTOBER 7,2017 FRONT DRIVER TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. AIRED IT UP AND WENT TO LES SCHWAB. AFTER CHECKING ALL 4 TIRES AND NOT FINDING ANY PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES, WHICH WERE PURCHASED AT LES SCHWAB THE TIRE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS THAT CAME ON THE VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED (PURCHASED NEW FROM NORTH CASCADE FORD) WERE CRACKED AND ALLOWING AIR FROM THE TIRES TO LEAK OUT. CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT NORTH CASCADE FORD AND THE ONLY RESPONSE WAS THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, SUGGESTED A CALL TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH RESULTED IN A CONVERSATION WITH A PERSON WHO DID NOT DPEAK ENGLISH VERY UNDERSTANDABLY SAYING THEY WOULD FOCUMENT THE PHONE CALL. LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTER DID DOCUMENT THE CRACKED WHEELS ON THE INVOICE OF THE NEW WHEELS THAT WERE PURCHASED FROM THEM.

Was driving 80MPH down the highway when instantly the rear wheels locked up, green wrench came on dashboard and my car came to a screeching halt. Complete loss of power, and am VERY lucky it did not create a major pile up on the highway! Had to "bunny" hop it over 4 lanes of traffic and barely survived the most terrifying experience of my life. Had it towed and the mechanic shop said the throttle body/actuator had magnetic problem which is VERY common, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! But there are no recalls on it, and they had to replace the entire unit, and now I am scared to death to drive the vehicle ever again. I am also very lucky it did not happen on snow, ice, or rain!!!!! SO DANGEROUS and SO SCARY!!!! And I could barely hop it out of oncoming traffic.... How can a vehicle go from 80MPH to ZERO in .02 seconds due to a faulty part and there is no recall???? SO GRATEFUL TO BE ALIVE!!!! Ford needs to take some responsibility before there are deaths from a very simple preventative measure due to a part completely failing. After looking it up online I read hundred's of people having the same issue.

My MPH gauge is getting stuck while driving causing my vehicle to not shift properly along with not being able to continue to go. This is dangerous I have to pull over immediately and restart the vehicle on the side of the road with my kids and can get hit by an incoming vehicle. I done replaced my pcm and timingchain and still having this issue.

After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the wheel speed sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 106,000.

Two incidents resulting in minor collision. No injuries. Approaching traffic light applying brakes and accelerator is also engaged. I could not stop the vehicle. Repair man denied it could happen after first incident. No inspections made as far as i know. There is usually no warning lights or indicators on with this vehicle. I am terrified of this vehicle now. I have owned it for less than 2 months. I understand it was in a major (front and rear) accident in Atlanta area by a previous owner. Police report to be filed Monday morning. Both parties have Geico insurance. 1st incident at 46th and Division, Kentwood, MI doing test drive. 2nd incident at corner of Perryville and State, Rockford, IL returning to hotel.

WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR WE NOTICED THAT THE CARPET IN THE DRIVER WHEEL WELL WAS CUT SHORT. AT THAT TIME IT DID NOT CAUSE A HAZARD BUT OVER TIME AND MANY VISITS TO THE DEALER IT HAS FOLDED OVER IT ITSELF AND IS BECOMING DANGEROUS. FORD HAS LOOKED AT IT SEVERAL TIMES AND ACKNOWLEDGED IT AS A PROBLEM BUT SAID THAT SINCE IT IS AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THIS CAN POSE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ASKING THAT FORD MAKE THE REPAIR. ALSO THE PANEL ON THE SIDE OF THE CHAR IS FALLING OFF AND IS POSING A HAZARD TOO. THE DEALER SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS OFTEN AND SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO FIX IT EITHER.
