Vehicle will shift in and out of gears randomly while driving I’m concerned about driving on the highway and getting into or causing an accident because it happens at random and then stops No lights on dashboard and vehicle just passed inspection I believe it is a problem with the TCM and there has been an extended warranty issues for the same part in different models for ford including the fiesta and focus I believe

I was driving and going around 45mph when the wrench warning light came on and I lost the ability to accelerate. The car could only coast. I was able to coast to a parking lot. I turned off the car and restarted it. It seemed fine so I drove home. The same thing happened again a couple of days later. We checked the codes and it had a p2112 error code. We replaced the throttle body and it seems fine now. However this is the second time we have had to replace the throttle body. The same thing happened in 2018 with about 74000 miles on the car. We replaced the throttle body then also. From internet searches this seems to be a common problem. It is a big safety issue since the car loses the ability to accelerate unexpectedly. I was lucky I was able to coast out of the way each time without causing an accident.

Vehicle was placed in park and rolled down a driveway. Vehicle almost crashed through a house across the street if the owner did not jump in the vehicle and slam the brake. Problem has not yet been reproduced by a dealer. The part has not yet been evaluated by the dealer. Although, the dealer has done improper inspections of broken parts on the vehicle when it was under warranty in an attempt to get out of replacing them, so I do not trust the dealer to do a proper assessment.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and shifted into park(P) and the contact exited the vehicle to run errands; however, upon returning to where the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the vehicle had rolled away. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and had started engaging the parking brake whenever the vehicle was parked. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

I was towing a trailer on a freeway when I suddenly got a "wrench" light stating my engine was cutting power due to heat and before I knew what to do there my vehicle was coasting, and so I quickly as I could changed lanes and came to a stop just a foot from the white line on the right. Cars and trucks are whizzing by me at highway speeds and was luckily off the road enough not to get hit. I had three other passengers at the time in my vehicle. what failed: after getting my passengers safely in other vehicles at the next rest stop, the trailer that I was towing was hooked up by another person on the same trip, I had my vehicle brought home on a flatbed. Fast forward to this week when it was finally diagnosed at a transmission shop. I was informed a transmission cooling line had ruptured, sending all the transmission oil out of the case and bringing me to an abrupt end on the freeway. Had I not been able to get over I would have come to a halt on the freeway, putting myself and my passengers as well as others behind me at risk. The transmission shop confirmed the issue. Since we were going at highway speeds when the transmission coolant line ruptures the oil gushes out and i have very little time before the transmission will not work. The only warning was from the engine as the transmission oil got pumped out, I'm assuming the engine revved to compensate, creating more heat, then the warning light which only happened seconds before I had no way to move. I was pretty scared, but I had other passengers in the vehicle, so I had to remain calm. At the time I had no idea what happened. I asked the transmission shop manager if that was a serviceable item (I'm pretty sure it's not) and he confirmed transmission coolant lines should last the life of the vehicle. My vehicle is only 8 years old--that is a catastrophic failure of a non-moving part leading to almost instant transmission failure. I asked if debris could have broken the line--he said no.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Purchased 12/2023 2015 Ford Expedition April of 2024 we began to have issues with the Sync System and Climate Control. We took it back to the original dealer and a second Ford dealer and neither was able to diagnose the issue. As they could not get it to duplicate while there. However it has happened numerous times since. The symptoms seem to have no rhyme or reason as to when they will happen, but they do follow the same pattern each time. The Sync screen will turn itself off completely and randomly. Screen goes Black System shuts down as if the power button was pushed. When you do push the power button to turn the system back on the temperature display in the left hand corner will no longer be displayed. This is the indication the system is still not working properly. The Air Conditioner will then turn itself off. Then the blower will switch to defrost and high heat, all in its own. You cannot adjust the setting or turn the heat off. It continues to blow on high heat in defrost mode until it decides to switch back to AC. This could last 2 seconds could be 20 minutes It will also read the gas gauge wrong, registering 20 miles left of gas even if you just filled up. This has all happened in the summer months causing extreme heat in the vehicle even with all the windows down. We replaced the Blower motor resistor and its wiring harness. Checked the blower at the same time, it is running smoothly. We also replaced the relay #3 responsible for climate control. We attempted the replace the intake manifold temperature sensor, but have been sent the wrong sensor twice, and it does not fit correctly. Now we have a fan running so loudly it sounds like out engine is idling high when it is not. We also now have no heat at all in the vehicle. When I checked the recalls the dates for the 2023 (22S56) are within the recall years but our vin says it's not. Manufactured 9/2014 Recall is for 1/2014-6/2017 No heat in the winter and extreme uncontrollable heat in the summer

Current recall reference# 22S56 front blower motor on some 2015–2017 Expedition SUVs and have issued a recall for affected vehicles. The front blower motor in certain vehicles may experience overheating and risk of interior fire. So my vehicle has gone thru 2 fixes for recall. But the issue caused by the blower motor was the actual risk of fire were the Wiring Harness. Which were burnt and original from the first repair that were already defaulted. So brand new motor and modular install but no new wiring harness that are already burnt. They just went ahead and plugged them back in with notice or even a heads up that you are still in danger of potential fire

The backup camera intermittently won't turn on when shifting into reverse and instead says to contact the dealer for service.
Nov 16, 2024
There was an open recall on our 2015 Ford Expedition for Blower Motor overheating. After fix a week later we took back in as the issue of no fan was still present and told no longer an open recall as it was marked complete, and would need to pay to have resistor and wiring harness for the blower motor replaced.

Smelled smoke, then a small amount of dark smoke was noted to be coming from A/C vents I pulled over & turned off car The smoke stopped. I exited the car & called my husband. I opened the car hood to inspect. There was nothing suspicious. No source of the smell or smoke was identified. I re-entered the car, turned on the engine, and lots of dark smoke exuded from of A/C Vents & the engine. I turned off the engine, left the car & moved away. I called 911. A passer by went into the Post office, returned with a fire extinguisher & sprayed the engine. This seemed to temporize things for a very short time. while on the phone with 911 the car fire started and rather quickly the car became nearly totally engulfed in flames. Then the Police arrived first, followed by the Fire engine. Essentially, "everything that could burn did" (except the gas tank). Known recall (manufacturer #22S56, NHTSA #22V648

Engine lack of power and excessive noise during acceleration.
Dec 08, 2024
Driving 45mph the stuttered quickly and the wrench symbol appeared on the dashboard. I had to put the car in Neutral and tranisted to the shoulder of the road, stopped and turned the vehicle off. This is not the first time this has happened. It happened to my wife and my daughter at separate times also.
Nov 12, 2024
During cold starts the engine has a loud rattling sound. The sound goes away after about a minute.
Nov 04, 2024
The mechanic assessing my vehicle stated that the vehicle has a coolant leak which cause the vehicle to run hot and ruin the head gaskets and requiring a new engine to repair at a significantly high cost. I explained to him that a check engine light only came on a day before and he stated that he has seen this a common problem in Ford Truck (F150 and expedition engines) with the 3.5 L turbo. The coolant sensor doesn’t pick up the leak because the coolant evaporates before the sensor can detect and only has cooler air passing over it thus not notifying the driver of the vehicle. I have maintained this vehicle properly since purchased in 2018. The risk was the engine could’ve overheated potentially causing fire or harm at high speeds.

When accelerating from a complete stop making a left turn vehicle starting shaking and I could not accelerate. I was not on a safe road to pull out of the roadway. Recall - There is a recall for 2015 Ford Expeditions for a coolant leak due to faulty water pump and or other related issues, recall was called in 2017. I just had my 2015 Ford Expedition in the shop for a coolant leak (same issue as recall) and paid $1800 plus $2300 to have it repaired. I had the dealership check my vin to see about the recall and they said my vehicle is not included. I would like to know why my vehicle has the same issue as the recall but it not included in the recall. My vehicle would go begin to overheat and go into a fail safe midst driving. It would stop in the middle of the road while I was driving. I just want to know why my vehicle is not included in this recall when it is having the same problem as the ones that were recalled.

I had parked the vehicle in grocery store lot. I had been shopping for 20-30 minutes when I was called to the service desk and was told to go to the parking lot. My car had rolled back across the parking lot aisle and had hit another vehicle. I verified that the car was in park. No one was in the vehicle at the time. It just slipped out of park and rolled. I called Ford Motor Company and they are not going to do anything about it, even though this is a documented problem they have had, just not on my particular year and model combination. They are the ones who suggested I file this report.

For the second time the front brake calipers on my 2015 Ford Expedition have locked up causing premature brake pad and rotor failures, causing the rotors to turn blue because they got so hot, therefore causing my brakes to fade and coast into the intersection. (No accidents yet). First repair was done at a reputable shop under an extended warranty, it is now back in the same shop for the same issue.

Brake master cylinder is leaking and brake fluid into brake booster and low warning light came on. Refill the Reservoir and it leaks into brake booster over night.
May 14, 2022
I started my vehicle and the brake warning light and alarm came on. I checked to see if the E-brake was disengaged, which it was not engaged. I pressed the brake pedal and it immediately went to the floor. I checked under the hood for leaks and found the brake fluid level as extremely low. There were no leaks present. I refilled the brake fluid reservoir and checked the brake pedal. The pedal held, but it would slowly press down to the floorboard again. As I researched this issue, it was apparent the same issue was present that caused me to crash and total a 2015 Ford Edge. The 2015 and above Ford Eco-Boost engines either has a faulty brake line, or the brake fluid disappears into the Master Cylinder. To say this issue is a huge safety issue is big understatement. To crash and total a 2015 Ford Edge because Ford does not have the necessary parts available is just dangerous. To have a different Ford vehicle with the same dangerous issue is negligent in an extremely dangerous form. This is a known issue with Ford and yet Ford does not feel the need to cover such dangerous matters before someone is seriously injured or killed. How can I proceed with a complaint against Ford for the brakes failing on my 2015 Ford Edge, and causing a crash that totaled my vehicle? And, for the brakes failing on my 2015 Ford Expedition? Somehow this has to be stopped before someone really gets injured.

OUR VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL FAILURE OF THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER AND BREAK BOOSTER. THIS WAS DUE TO BREAK FLUID LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER, DEPLETING THE BREAK FLUID RESERVOIR RENDERING THE BREAK SYSTEM COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS BEFORE THIS TOOK PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE FAILURE TOOK PLACE. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL ON THE FORD F-150 WHICH USES THE SAME PARTS AS THE EXPEDITION. OUR 2015 FORD EXPEDITION WITH 20,000 MILES IN CALIFORNIA HAS ALUMINUM BODY CORROSION ON THE FRONT HOOD AND REAR TAILGATE DOOR. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS "IRON CONTAMINATION" PROBLEM SINCE THE YEAR 2000 AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT, DOCUMENTED IN THREE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS 2004 TSB 04-25-1, 2006 TSB 06-25-15 AND 2016 TSB 16-0028. 2015 FORD EXPEDITION WITH 20,000 MILES HAS GALVANIC CORROSION ON ALUMINUM HOOD AND ALUMINUM REAR HATCH DOOR AND ROOF WELD CRACKS. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE YEAR 2000 NOTED IN TSB 16-0028. DEALERS ARE AWARE, BUT DO NOT DISCLOSE MANUFACTURING DEFECT PRIOR TO SALE, WHICH IS FRAUD. NOT PROPERLY SEPARATING THE OUTER ALUMINUM FROM THE STEEL INSIDE CAUSES EXTREME CORROSION. THIS LEADS TO HOOD AND DOOR LATCH METAL FAILING WITH HOODS OR DOORS OPENING DURING DRIVING CAUSING ACCIDENTS OR DEATH.

ON TODAY'S DATE, APRIL 9, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:20PM CDT, I WAS ENTERING FREEWAY ACCELERATING TO 40 MPH WHEN POWER WAS LOST AND QUICKLY DECELERATED TO UNDER 5MPH. ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WENT INTO 'LIMP HOME' MODE, NO FASTER THAN 5MPH. WAS ABLE TO GET TO DISTRESS LANE. WRENCH SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND CHECKED OWNERS MANUAL...SYMBOL INDICATED POWER TRAIN TROUBLE. TURNED ON STARTED OK, AND CONTINUED TO FREEWAY SPEED. ABOUT 1 MILE LATER, LOST POWER AGAIN, SLOWING TO 'LIMP' MODE. THIS TIME CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS CAME ON AND ENGINE NOTICEABLY ROUGH RUNNING. TURNED OFF/ON STARTED OK, EXITED FREEWAY AND DROVE CITY STREETS HOME, ABOUT 3 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF. WRENCH LIGHT DID GO OFF AFTER 2ND RE-START. MANUAL RECOMMENDS HAVING FORD DEALER CHECK IT OUT. THAT'S WHAT I'LL BE DOING TOMORROW. THIS SPONTANEOUS LOSS OF POWER HAS RISK OF CAUSING A CRASH FROM OTHER DRIVER'S AS SUDDEN DECELERATIONS WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHT WARNING IS VERY DANGEROUS.

TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR AND ENGINE WOULD NOT REV ABOVE IDLE. PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF TRUCK. RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME WAS ON A CITY STREET (20MPH) AND TRANS WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR.

I WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFT GATE, THE WINDOW DID WORK FINE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY NOW AND THEN NON PREDICTABLE.. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LATCH AND WAS AMAZED THE ELECTRIC KEY FOB DID NOT WORK OF THE MANUAL LIFT GATE. THERE IS NO EMERGENCY OVERRIDE!!!! IF SOME WAS IN THE 3RD ROAD SEAT, AND SOMETHING HAPPENED THEY COULD NOT GET OUT. AUGUST 1, 2015 I WENT TO THE VET WITH MY DOG IN HER KENNEL IN THE BACK. OUTSIDE AIR TEMP WAS 93 DEGREES. I COULD NOT OPEN THE BACK HATCH TO GET MY DOG OUT. I HAD TO LOWER ALL THE MIDDLE SEATS, OPEN HER KENNEL, AND "CONVINCE " HER TO COME OUT AND WALK AROUND . I HAD TO LIFT HER UP AND PUT HER ON THE GROUND. BEING HANDICAPPED THIS WAS NOT FUN.. OF COURSE AFTER THE VETS VISIT, THE DARN THING WORKED IT IS DANGERSOUS!!!

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to an independent mechanic, who again diagnosed a failure with the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 145,781.

While driving through a busy intersection, the vehicle seemed as if it had shifted into neutral rendering the accelerator powerless. I was able to coast into a parking lot and noticed the wrench warning light being on. The engine was also shaking very noticeably. I turned off the engine and read up on the warning light to learn it indicated a powertrain failure. Called a mechanic who stated it could be the throttle body and/or throttle body actuator. It was suggested the engine should be turned off (already done) and restarted. I did as instructed and the engine began running smoothly again. Wrench warning light was no longer on. Without having control of the powertrain, this situation could have caused an accident as I had no ability to control the vehicle's power and could not navigate through the intersection in a safe manner. I feel like my safety and others was put at risk. I have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who is also an Auto Mechanic Instructor at the local high school. I await his diagnostic result. There were no earlier symptoms or wrench warning light previous to this incident.

Dealer has diagnosed Throttle Body Failure which is well documented with these vehicles and known the the NHTSA even though there is no recall and no extended warranty for this particular vehicle (though there is for others). This a major safety issue as the vehicle looses all throttle response and puts its occupants at risk for a collision.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the rearview camera failed to activate while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle, especially during hot weather. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the running boards moved independently. Occasionally, while exiting the vehicle, the running boards opened halfway. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

Rear backup camera works periodically, there is a recall on the 2015 Expedition for this problem, but I’m being told my vehicle (VIN) is not included. The repair cost is over $1000. Why ins’t my Expedition included in the recall - I’m having the exact problem as documented in the recall. How many others are being affected by this problem but being excluded in the recall. Please investigate, this problem seems to be larger then the current recall.

My 2015 Ford Expedition needs to added to the recall 22S56. I just paid $1,200 to have that part fixed cause it burnt up. Replaced the front blower motor assembly. My husband burnt his hand on the wire exposed under the dash then the mechanic said the blower motor has burnt up the components around it. The fan, motor, control, and wire assembly all was burnt up. Ford needs to be made to include my vehicle in their recall as that vehicle year, model, plant made in and date made all match.

HAD TO FIGHT TO GET CELLA FORD TO COMPLY WITH RECALL ON FRONT BLOWER FAN. FIRST HAD TO FIGHT TO GET APPOINTMENT AND THEM NOT CANCEL DUE TO PARTS NOT AVAILABLE WHEN COULD HAVE FIXED WITH AFTERMARKET PART. WHEN PART IS REPLACED, BAD HUM AND DASH/STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING AND UNIT IS SURGING. CELLA ADMITS TO FAULTY REPLACEMENT PART AND REPLACES AGAIN TO HAVE THE SAME THING CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AND STATE THAT THE SURGING IS NOT THEIR FAULT. SO, RECALL NOT COMPLETE, SAFETY HAZARD STILL ALIVE IN THIS VEHICLE DUE TO NO AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WORKING AND UNABLE TO DEFOG WINDSHIELD. IN THE PAST WEEK, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY 2015 FORD EXPEDITION HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. FIRST INSTANCE, WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH ON SMALL COUNTRY ROAD AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED AND CAME TO A ROLLING STOP, WITH SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT AND "SEE MANUAL" ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. ONCE STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. SECOND INSTANCE (APPROX. 2 DAYS LATER), WHILE ENTERING INTERSTATE FROM ON RAMP, APPROX. 45MPH AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER PRIOR TO COMING TO COMPLETE STOP. ONCE SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. FORD SERVICE TOLD US THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, AND WILL COST NEARLY $700 TO REPLACE. I'VE DONE SOME ONLINE RESEARCH OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS, THE THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BE ONE OF, IF NOT THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINTS BY 2015 EXPEDITION OWNERS. IF THIS HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, PEOPLE COULD GET KILLED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

After doing research it seems like this is a super common issue and Ford Needs to issue a recall to give its customers answers. THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED HAD 78,000 MILES ON IT WE WERE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE ROAD ABOUT 60MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT PUT ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL. THE GAS PEDDLE WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AFTER WE TURN IT OFF AND ON A COUPLE TIMES WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT. WE BOUGHT IT 4 MONTHS AGO. ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM A 3 HOUR DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH DOWN A HILL AND IT WAS UNDER POWERED BUT STILL DRIVABLE. WE HAD ONE TURBO REPLACED HOWEVER THE LIGHT HAS COME ON AGAIN BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CLEARED AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. LAST WEEK WE WERE DRIVING IN TOWN THANKFULLY UNDER 30MPH AND THE BREAK PEDDLE GOT HARD AND COULDN'T BE PRESSED DOWN. A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID BREAK FAILURE WE HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP. WE HAD IT TOWED NO LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN IT GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY PUT 30 MILES ON IT TRYING TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND COULDN'T GET IT TO DO IT AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT EITHER SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY OR THE BREAKS WON'T WORK AND CRASHES INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. WE HAVE A VEHICLE NOW THAT WE CANNOT DRIVE AND CANNOT FIX AND IF WE TRADE IT IN WE WILL BE OUT A LOT OF MONEY AND THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE WILL BE PUT BACK ON THE LOT.
