I have a 2022 Ford Expedition that Ford states some of these are under recall for the backup camera but not mine. On 10/28/25, my backup camera went out with a blank blue sometimes black screen. I took it to Marler Ford where they gave me an estimate of $1000 to replace the camera. I received an oil change on the same day. When I got home I noticed from the diagnostics that my camera was loose in its setting and was able to easily remove it. I am assuming this occurred while at the dealership and will address this with them. While I contemplated what to do, I noticed a change 1 week ago when i backed up even though the camera was removed. It showed the back up lines and no longer the blank screen. I placed the camera back in and now it is working but is still loose so I removed it so it doesn’t fall out. I called Ford. My case number is CXH-XXX. In summary, Ford is still not owning up to the recalls that are a major safety issue in these vehicles and need to be held accountable. I am not confident that this issue will not return if the issue is not fixed. It has caused me stress in not allowing me to be as confident in reverse. It has not resulted in a accident at this time. Recently, the rear evaporator core failed, causing a refrigerant leak that disabled the entire A/C system. This left both the front and rear HVAC units inoperable, which not only compromises passenger comfort but also directly impacts safety by reducing the system’s ability to defrost and dehumidify the windshield in hot and humid conditions. After researching this issue, I have confirmed that rear evaporator core failures are being reported by numerous 2021–2023 Expedition owners, many of whom describe identical failures at relatively low mileage. These failures often result in costly repairs ranging from $2,000–$3,500. While Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins (e.g., TSB 22-2089) related to evaporator and sensor issues on Expeditions, there is currently no recall or extended coverage program for rear evaporator core failures. However, the pattern of owner complaints, dealer diagnoses, and additional NHTSA filings shows that this is a known defect affecting a critical vehicle system. Given: •The premature and widespread nature of these failures, •The documented safety concerns raised in NHTSA complaints, and •The high financial burden placed on customers for what appears to be a design defect, I contacted my local dealer who filed a claim with Ford customer support. My claim was immediately denied and they did not offer any financial support. The year of the vehicle was within 3yr/36,000 warranty however current mileage is ~44,000 and exceeded threshold for warranty assistance.

A-pillar/hinge integrity engineering concern. While opening my door in a parking lot, the wind caught the door before I could catch the door. The door met the hinge stop and flexed enough for the edge of the door panel to contact a bolt on the A-pillar door hinge assembly, causing a small crease in the aluminum door panel. My concern is that in 30 years of driving, I have had a door caught be wind before but never had damage to the vehicle. This was not a strong wind, just enough to catch the door. The A-pillar is now flexed slightly such that the door panel gap is larger and seems related to the actual A-pillar flex, not a hinge failure. Vehicle testing of the 22 Ford Expedition has show some poor performance in the A-pillar area and I am concerned that this door issue is due to poor engineering and strength of the A-pillar. I have had the vehicle inspected at the Ford dealership and a customer service complain with Ford is in process. I do not feel this issue can be attributed to user error or considered "accidental" but is due to structural/safety deficiency of the A-pillar structure. The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact opened the liftgate, and the liftgate failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that the liftgate struck the roof and caused the liftgate to be damaged. The contact stated that when it was cold, the liftgate failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed that there was insufficient margin between the liftgate and roof spoiler. The contact was provided with Manufacturer's Recall Number: SSM 53469. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

I am writing to formally report a significant issue with my vehicle that has resulted in damage to the roof and potential long-term integrity concerns. The liftgate spoiler is contacting the roof in freezing temperatures, which creates a hole in the roof when opening the liftgate. Upon inspection, it appears there is an insufficient margin between the liftgate spoiler and the roof area centerline. This problem is particularly concerning because a hole in the roof allows moisture to penetrate, jeopardizing the structural integrity of the roof and potentially leading to further damage, such as rust or water intrusion into the vehicle. I believe this issue may be the result of a design flaw and would like to request an immediate inspection and resolution. As this defect directly impacts the durability and safety of the vehicle, I urge you to treat this matter as a priority. Please let me know how this issue can be resolved, including any repairs, adjustments, or recalls that may apply. I am happy to provide photographs or additional documentation if needed.

Rear defrost coils have continually fallen off. Dealer fixed one in February of 2024. It fell off March 2024. They are both hanging there. Dealer won’t touch it - says rear window needs replacement. I’ve researched on ford expedition forum and many expeditions have a similar issue. Especially with dealer not covering it.

The audio system has become inoperable and instead the speakers are blasting static noise with crackling and popping sounds at high volume. Cannot stop it or use any other audio. Very unsafe to drive due to extreme noise level and lack of controls. Appears many people have this issue and there needs to be a recall to fix.

While driving the vehicle, the stereo system suddenly without warning started an unbearable loud and deafening noise. I was driving on a busy highway and was able to the the next exit. I had 2 other occupants in the vehicle. We had to exit the vehicle because the noise level from the speaker was painful and caused disorientation. I turned the vehicle off but the noise continued for at least 10 minutes then stopped. Myself and the 2 other occupants still have ear pain 24 hours later.

While the vehicle is in 2 wheel high, it operates as all the hubs are locked or there is a severe transmission issue. On turns which causes safety issues when trying to navigate corners. My wife hit a curb because of the issue. It causes a severe drag and terrible sound. It also has extremely rough shifting. We had a 2019 Navigator with the same drivetrain that had issues that eventually had to have the motor replaced with less than 10,000 miles.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
5 complaints
When the vehicle starts, two error messages appear. The first one is "Pre-Collission Assist not available" and the second one is "Front camera fault - Service required". Due to these errors, I have no collission assist and cruise control does not work and cannot be enabled. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times (Since the summer) to be repaired and they have reloaded the software each time. This has not fixed the problem and they refuse to replace any hardware. They have stated that it is a software issue and that a fix will be forthcoming but they have no fix or timeframe as to when it will be fixed.

Several incidents in which adaptive cruise control resets itself to 90mph when moving into a higher speed limit area- for example, cruising along at 70mph, pass a speed limit sign allowing 75mph, and suddenly the cruise control resets at 90mph. If you are not very consciously thinking about this you quickly find yourself going 90mph. It never resets at 80 or 85- always 90mph. Going 15 or 20 mph faster than thought or planned certainly grabs your attention and is a safety risk.

My Expedition has adaptive cruise control. I was driving on the interstate at around 65 mph with the adaptive cruise set. I was raining, so I set it to max range. It worked fine for the first few minutes of rain. As cars started to slow down, mine sped up and put me in an extremis situation where I had to forcibly apply the brakes. It was following the car in front of mine fine at around 55 mph, but then sped up despite the car getting closer as if there wasn't a car there. Only after I applied the brakes did I start getting an error that adaptive cruise and collision assist were not working due to a sensor being blocked. I've driven in rain many times and have never had this error. As far as I can tell the forward sensor failed due to moisture and instead of the adaptive cruise turning off, it actually caused the vehicle to accelerate since cruise was set to 65 mph. Sensor failed in a 5 minute rain storm. Software design does not fail safe, but rather the opposite.

General: While driving this rental vehicle over the span of three days, I noticed and confirmed over a dozen times that the vehicle's speed control would dramatically increase with NO driver input or actions. Specific: The vehicle's cruise control would be on and active, set at various speeds; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 (long, straight road with varying speed limits). In different circumstances (sometimes when being overtaken by another vehicle, or cresting a hill or when beginning to climb a hill), the speed control, while set would immediately, with no driver input other than light steering INCREASE to 15-30 mph above the speed at which the cruise control was set. Over the period of three days of rental I was able to verify this behavior many times and I was able to capture a video that shows the speed set increase from 65 mph to 90 mph immediately, and the vehicle would begin aggressive acceleration. I have a clear video of the steering wheel and gauge cluster that I cannot attach to this report, but will email upon request. In the video, the malfunction is at the 13 second mark. In this video, the speed control setting increased from 65mph immediately to 90mph and the vehicle started accelerating. Switching the speed control off, or tapping the brake ceased the acceleration, as expected. Vehicle was reported to National car rental and an attempt was made to report it to Ford. Because it was a rental, I am unaware of any corrective action or inspection that may have, or may take place.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
3 complaints
The component that failed is the left front driver side headlight of the vehicle, resulting in low visibility and inability to see or drive the vehicle in it's current condition at night. The only "warning" that could potentially have been a "warning", was the blinker began rapidly blinking the day before the headlight stopped functioning; the blinker no longer worked in the headlight but still worked on the driver mirror and back taillight. By the next day, the driver side headlight no longer functioned. It is my knowledge that Ford has a lifetime guarantee on the headlights for this make, model, and year of vehicle. Due to this not functioning, I would like to get it properly replaced under warranty or guarantee of Ford.

Rear cabin lights do not come on when doors are opened. When manually turned on, at times, rear cabin lights will turn on and not be able to be turned off. This created a hazard while driving at night/early morning. We had to cover interior lighting to be able to drive safely. I feel this is a product issue. Dealer said it’s normal working order.

SERVICE BRAKES
3 complaints
On Nov 22 I pulled over to the shoulder of a highway in the midst of a snowstorm to make a phone call. When I went to get back onto the highway, my vehicle lost all brakes...the brake pedal hit the floor...and I had a low-speed impact with a berm rising up to a driveway that intersected the shoulder. The vehicle had to be towed to a nearby dealer. The only mechanism to stop it on/off the tow truck was slamming transmission into park. Due to the storm, I had to spend the night in the vehicle in the freezing cold at the tow destination. The cause of the brake failure was determined to be a material defect of a rubber section of brake line deep in the engine compartment that burst, causing a loss of all brake fluid. It was repaired under warranty. I had just received the vehicle back from repairing the body damage to the bumper when the Ford brake line recall was issued. I believed that my incident in Nov was the result of the issue that resulted in the recall, and that surely the warranty repair would have thus resolved all related issues. That was not the case. When I brought the vehicle to Koons Ford Woodbridge four routine service, they found that it failed the brake line recall test and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. However, they are not actively repairing it. In fact, the parts needed to repair don't exist. I'm told it will be 2-3 months before a part is even available. And they have failed to provide an any vehicle that can safely transport my family of 7. I therefore believe that Ford have *failed to comply* with the NHTSA regulation that obligates them to repair the vechicle. They're not repairing it. So I am therefore left to demand that they select another option available under recall regulations, preferably a full refund of the purchase amount. At a minimum, this incident refutes Ford's published claims that there have been no collisions associated with the brake line defect that resulted in the recall.

3 complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving in the rain at 60 MPH with the windshield wipers at max speed, the driver’s side windshield wiper started hanging off the side of the windshield and failed to operate as needed. The contact pulled into the nearest gas station and attempted to move the wiper back to the original position; however, the driver’s side windshield wiper failed to move. Despite the failure, the contact continued to drive the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V250000 (Visibility), which was linked to the failure. Two dealers were notified about the failure, and both informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The dealers provided estimates for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started in the morning and the air conditioning system was activated, there was a mildew odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving the odor dissipated. The contact stated that water was accumulating in the passenger’s side wheel well and could cause a short circuit due to the electrical wires and connectors underneath the carpet. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure TSB Number: 20-2170 Water Leaking on Right Front Floor During Or After A/C Use (Visibility). The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

On 2/20/23 my spouse was driving northbound around 9:30 am. When she heard what she describes as a gun shot. She immediately called me and I told her to pull over to the closest and safest spot. She explained that it sounded like the glass sunroof exploded. She climbed up to find that was the case. There was a huge gaping hole right in the center of the sunroof. We immediately took the 2022 Expedition to a Ford dealership close by. The dealership stated that Ford has not issued a bulletin or recall and because of that could not cover the repair under warranty. They stated that the damage indicates that an object hit the glass. I feel that this could not be correct since the glass is facing outward and the manner of which the glass shattered. Further I searched the internet and found that there have been several others dealing with the same issue. I came here hoping that by submitting this complaint Ford owns up to the issues that their consumers are having. Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. See attached pdf from dealer for additional supporting information.

Bought car new last year. Current 15,000 miles. On Saturday, September 2, I turned the ignition off and then opened the drivers door. Suddenly there was a horrendous loud static noise coming from I assume the radio speakers. It was deafening, and lasted about 3 seconds. I have read about other Ford trucks having this problem, but it is the first time for me. I will take it to my Ford dealer tomorrow morning. Apparently there is a quick program update to correct the issue. If this happened while I was driving, it may have caused an accident.

On start-up, vehicle had an ear-piercing noise coming through all speakers. All of the dashboard screens were black, buttons were not responsive, but the vehicle would still move. Even after getting the vehicle to turn off, the sound persisted. I had to manually disconnect the battery to get it to stop. I have video of the incident if helpful. Ford service had no idea how to handle.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
When slowing down to turn into a parking lot my car suddenly experienced sudden “phantom braking”. I was going slowly and I wasn’t braking. My car only has automatic braking when cruise control is on. Cruise wasn’t on. The car suddenly braked hard and chimed twice. My car has a collision warning system but that doesn’t chime like this. I didn’t see any dash warning lights, it looked normal by the time I looked for warning lights. I coasted into the parking lot because I wasn’t even sure if the engine was running. I couldn’t find anything wrong and everything has seemed normal since then. When it braked, I had my foot above the brake pedal because I was getting ready to brake further as I turned. When the phantom braking happened I felt the pedal move. It suddenly depressed then and sprung back up. I believe I was going less than 20mph.

BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Since purchase in 2022, the vehicle has experienced repeated failures of multiple safety systems. These include frequent warnings that “Pre-Collision Assist is Not Available,” repeated failures of Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring warnings, and messages to “Check 12-Volt Battery.” These system malfunctions occur intermittently and unpredictably, creating unsafe driving conditions. In addition to the warning messages, the rear liftgate has failed to latch properly and on at least one occasion opened while the vehicle was in motion. This poses a serious hazard to vehicle occupants and to other drivers on the road. The safety risk is significant because these systems are designed to prevent or mitigate crashes. Their failure leaves the driver without critical safety features, and the trunk latch defect could cause loss of cargo or injury. These problems have been ongoing for years and have not been permanently corrected despite software updates and recall activity. The dealer has acknowledged the symptoms and advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive.

Magnetic Chest Clip Disassembly (October 2023) • At [XXX] old, my daughter disassembled the magnetic chest clip while seated in the car. • She placed a small part in her mouth, creating a choking hazard. • I was stranded until a replacement car seat could be brought. • I replaced the clip with a plastic version Chicco provided, but the original design posed a serious and unacceptable safety risk. 2.Child Unlocking Base Mechanism (April 2025) • My daughter is able to unlatch the seat from its base while rear-facing. • She does this repeatedly, even after being re-secured. • Chicco only sent a “lever lock” cover despite my request for a full replacement, which was ignored. • This flaw allows a toddler to disengage the seat mid-drive, rendering the product unsafe and unusable. 3.) Cup Holder Suffocation Hazard (June 2025) • My daughter easily removes the silicone cup holders. • On one occasion, she placed one over her mouth and nose, creating suction and restricting her breathing. • I have since removed the cup holders entirely, though this alters the seat’s intended use. • This presents a clear suffocation hazard. 4.) Excessive Rattling When Not in Use (Ongoing) • When installed rear-facing and unoccupied, the seat rattles loudly during travel. • The noise is so disruptive I have rotated the seat forward-facing at times to reduce it. • While less severe than the other hazards, this reflects poor product integrity and contributes to ongoing safety concerns. The vehicle stopped running while driving, my wife stopped at a stop sign after vehicle had run ~ 10 minutes. Upon entering the inter-section the vehicle started to run rough, and ultimately stalled and would not restart. She was able to coast into a parking lot entrance within On Top of World subdivision where we live and get off of main road. After multiple AAA attempts to jump start, AAA confirmed the vehicle was unable to be jump started, therefore vehicle was towed to local ford dealership for diagnostics. They tried to jump start multiple times and after 2 days, pushed it into garage. They confirmed fuel pump failure and replaced with current design. We were charged for towing, new battery, and fuel pump system replacement with current design and advised we would have to bring it back in when Ford identified remedy for current recall. No loaner vehicle provided. We are very concerned as if this event had occurred on an interstate, there is a high risk of accident/injury. After repair with existing part designs we are worried about another failure on busy road/interstate.

1) The fuel delivery system is affected — specifically, a faulty fuel pump which may fail and cause engine stalling while driving. This issue is under Ford Safety Recall 25S75 (NHTSA 25V-455). The vehicle is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. 2) The recall clearly states that the vehicle can stall unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. On a recent highway trip ([XXX]), my Expedition began shaking at high speeds, and continued shaking while parked, indicating worsening fuel system issues. I have three young children (ages [XXX] , [XXX] , and [XXX] ) who regularly ride in the vehicle. Being told to continue driving under these conditions with no available fix has placed my entire family and others on the road at risk. 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. When I called Ford customer service to report the issue and request a safe alternative, I was told there was no further action available and that I should continue driving the vehicle. I was referred to my local Ford dealership, who also said they could not take any action until a remedy is issued. 4) Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Because Ford has no remedy available, they have not performed any inspection or offered assistance. The dealership confirmed they cannot inspect or service the vehicle related to this recall until Ford issues a fix. 5) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lights or error messages, during a return trip from Texas [XXX] the vehicle began shaking noticeably at highway speeds, and continued shaking heavily while in park. These symptoms had never occurred before, and they align with the type of failure described in the recall notice. Bought [XXX] at Corwin Ford Reno Nevada. April 2023 vehicle had sporadic transmission issues - slipping randomly. Took it in and explained the issue. Told there’s no transmission person. Nothing was done and told to continue to drive it. [XXX] Vehicle ended up going into reverse on its own at a stop light. Took the car in and given the same story, were completely back logged and could not get the car in. Car also had an active recall on it, never was looked at because they stated back logged until mid 2024 and couldn’t schedule an appointment. Asked for a loaner vehicle, told that’s not available anymore. May 2024 went into reverse again on its own. Called to get it in, stated they could not make any appointments at that time. October 2024 engine intermittently began revving on its own up to 4000RPM. Told no transmission mechanic was available. We were told there’s no more loaner program, transmission mechanic is 3 months out and there’s nothing that can be done at this time. Asked us if we wanted to pay $2500 for preventative maintenance and fluid top off on the vehicle though. [XXX] the rear AC went out on the vehicle also. There is also a new recall on the vehicle for the fuel pump and a loss of fuel pressure. These are all a massive safety concern for our entire family (4 kids + 2 adults) and for the general public. Ford is refusing to take responsibility for these issues and are making it very difficult for us to work with. We have a [XXX] who has [XXX] and we need a reliable vehicle to transport him to and from doctors appointments. The vehicle has a full warranty on it also. 3rd row seat has metal frame coming through cushion. Had seat cushion replaced once. Ford technician said was design flaw in vehicle and issue will continue to happen. Just had vehicle in again for same issue but Ford will not replace cushion this time because they confirmed other like vehicles are having same issue and deeming is a normal condition. This is a huge safety issue for my children. This is not a normal condition to have a cushion fall through and the metal seat frame is exposed.

We cannot control the noise. We lose all function and use of controls (radio, climate, etc.).

vehicle has been shifting into neutral at speeds for 65 mph or more , it is constantly locking and unlocking itself when turned off. It malfuctiins during auto pilot asst( doesnt read the hands even though they are on the wheel) Today it wouldn't turned on. when I pressed the brake to turn it on, it said that the steering system fails and that the braking system failed and the screen powered down to save battery. when pressed the brake shook and then locked down. even if left on this vehicle turns off after idling for more than 10 minutes. so that makes no sense. It wouldn't even attempt to turn over.

While driving with cruise control set at 65mph the vehicle will maintain set speed for a undetermined amount of time at which point the vehicle cruise will jump to a very high setting of 88mph....forcing me to shut the system down...this happens frequently and I can't determine what sets it off. Ford Dealer can't find anything wrong . Also the lane assist will constantly warn of not holding the wheel or lane in fractions forcing me to shake the steering wheel to let the system know I'm holding the wheel.

I was driving in the express lane NB I-15 in Utah. I was at highway speeds with no one around me. I had the visor that closed on my sunroof when all of a sudden I hear a loud explosion, it scared me and I immediately slowed and pulled off the road. I first thought maybe it was a tire, I checked and all were intact, then I saw glass and looked up on my roof and noticed that the sunroof was completely blown out. I apparently lost my Panoramic portion of my sunroof, not the part that actually opens, the fixed portion. The glass is angled out like a slope up a mountain. I am lucky the visor was closed as it minimized the glass inside the vehicle and onto my kids. I just bought this vehicle from Ford on a special order and took possession of it 3-4 weeks ago. This was on a Sunday afternoon 8/21. I took it straight to the dealer Monday morning 8/22, they currently still have the vehicle. I have had no updates from the dealer. No warning lamps/lights before or after the incident.
