The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to a gas station for servicing, the contact was informed that the brake calipers were sticking, and the calipers and rotors were extremely hot. The calipers and rotors were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission axle shaft had damaged the splines. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Transmission unexpectedly malfunctions. Car lost the ability to shift into reverse and even numbered gears. rough shifting when it can shift. slipping when attempting to drive. Unable to accelerate from a stop sign. Based on simple web searches, the Ford fiesta and Focus with the DPS6 transmission are notorious for defective transmissions.

It is widely known that this vehicle has irreparable transmission problems. My car shudders, loses power, has issues shifting, etc because of known issues. It feels dangerous to drive at times. The dealer no doubt willingly sold it to me used knowing about the problem. I feel taken advantage of as I had to purchase the car during Covid when inventory was low and prices were high. I owe over twice as much on car than it’s worth. No one in their right mind would buy it. I’m on medical leave without pay and in no position to trade it. I bought it after all the class action suits were settled. It doesn’t appear to fall under lemon law. I’m basically waiting for it to completely break down. Praying nobody is hurt when it happens. I’m writing because I’m aggravated and feel I have no recourse.

AFTER A RECALL OF DOOR LATCHES THAT WERE REPLACED I HAVE HAD 3 OTHER LATCHES MALFUNCTION. MOST RECENTLY MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I HAD TALKED TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR NOW. THEY DID REPAIR ONE LATCH AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. I CURRENTLY CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE MY VEHICLE!

The door latches have a safety recall and needs to be fixed or observed to ensure proper road safety. In addition I cannot move onto my vehicle registration renewal until this recall is repaired. I do not see any visible malfunction but the doors do have to slam shut to ensure they are properly closed. No individuals have been put at risk. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center, nor inspected by any party. No warning signals, signs or lights appeared on the car telling me about the particular issue or area with issue.

Incident= on February 15, 2023 While vehicle is in drive, upon stopping going up a slight hill, the vehicle started rolling backwards.I did not do anything except slow down/stop. It failed to engage in any gear after it started sliding back, including reverse to try to get me out of traffic ( the gear shifter was just sliding without resistance) except park for almost 15 minutes. My mother and my dog were in the car with me at this time. We were also in the left lane of traffic/ during moderate traffic. The car is an automatic. The vehicle finally engaged in low gear and I was able to drive 10mph to get home. Mechanic, the next morning, stated that my transmission is slipping/not engaging properly. He also advised against driving. And, gave me a really long list of diagnostic codes pertaining to my transmission. My check engine light is also on, now. My check engine light has been going on and off for a few weeks because my catalytic converter is starting to go out, but was off until this incident. I do have the list of diagnostic codes from the mechanic. My vehicle is not driveable because I can't guarantee that it will get me from point A to point B without slipping out of gear again and putting my life and other drivers on the road in harm's way.

The contact stated that he engaged in the high-beam headlights and continued driving. The contact, who is an electrician, diagnosed that the relay that controlled the low-beam headlights was corroded in the battery junction box. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he had to pay out of pocket for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 19B22. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact mentioned that the high beam was needed to be able to see the roadway correctly. The dealer was not contacted. The contact was a mechanic and diagnosed that there was corrosion on the junction box that caused the failure of the headlamps. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

My engine light came on so I took it to Ford dealership and they told me it's the car computer not understanding when the engine is turned off and that it is not an urgent issue to keep driving it since they are backed up. A week later while driving the car just stopped the engine light started glitching. After 2 minutes it starts again. So I called Ford explained what happened they could check it a week later so I start calling around. Found Ford dealership that can check it immediately, then they told me that the issue is a wiring problem that Ford has sent them a bulletin about but it is not a recall. I told them that it should be a recall if Ford knew that a wiring issue can make your car just stop in the middle of traffic with no warning whatsoever. The issue on my invoice says EEC TEST CODES P2610 P2138, PIN POINT TEST, NEED TO PERFORM TSB 13-11-15 WIRE REPAIR BYPASS CONNECTOR C210 TO PCM, REPROGRAM PCM TO LATEST SOFTWARE. It is a safety issue if your car just stops working in the middle of traffic and Ford know but refuse to issue a recall for it.

It started with a loud thud sound while driving. It was as if something hit or fell on the car. Scary loud sounds from the car used to happen randomly at anytime. I had to stop the car, get out and check what fell or hit the car but every time I checked there was no mark or scratch or sign of something hitting. Sounds were so sudden and loud that someone could easily be shocked and lose control of the car. After such repeated incidents of loud thumping sounds I thought that it was the speakers (part of cars standard audio system) that was making the sound. I thought that the problem can be temporarily solved by turning off the audio system. But it was not so. Car kept making disturbing noises even with the audio system turned off. Over time it got worse and more frequent. It scares kids and other co-passengers. Knowing how disturbingly and dangerously sudden these noises are I absolutely cannot lend my car to any family member or friend to drive on their own. They could lose control of the car harming themselves or others. Now it does long crackling, popping and thumping sounds even when the car itself is off ignition. I am holding the car keys, am outside the car, it makes crackling sounds on simply opening and shutting the doors of the car. Upon quick search of this problem on the internet I find that a LOT of people have reported having this problem - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLx0WN23SD4. I along with lot of others who have reported this problem are surprised that there is not already a recall of this. The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that occasionally there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not restart. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the battery needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure still occurred. The contact then towed the vehicle to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

WE HAVE A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR TI SHAKES WHEN IT GOES TO CHANGE GEARS, IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. WE'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP USED TO TELL US IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. THEY HAVE CLEANED IT AND REPLACED IT. THE CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE THE ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM TO CHECK THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THEY DID AND REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SAYING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE CAR DROVE DECENT FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN WE WENT BACK TO THE PROBLEM OF LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND THEN ACCELERATING TOO FAST AFTER THE LOSS OF POWER. NOW THE CAR WILL REV UP WHEN IN PARK AND CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SHUTTERING PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SEEMS TO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.

IT HAS SLIPPED IN ALL FORMS OF MOVEMENT . WHEN I'VE BEEN BRAKING ,DRIVING URBAN OR HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT BACK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER SHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY TRANSMISSION WAS BAD.

I SAVED FOR THREE YEARS TO PURCHASE A CAR. AND TRUSTED THE FORD NAME. MY 2012 FIESTA, WITH 60,000 MILES, IS SHUTTERING AND MISSING WHEN I STOP AND GO. IT TAKES AWHILE TO GET GOING AND JUMPS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AFTER HEARING ABOUT FORD MOTOR COMPANY TELLING THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO FIX THE ISSUE. AFTER I GOT TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $120 FOR THEM TO EVEN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. AND THAT FORD MAY COVER ANYWHERE FROM NOTHING TO EVERYTHING. IT COULD BE 1/3, 2/3 OF THE COST. THEY WOULD DECIDE. I HAVEN'T HAD MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS. IT'S JUST SITTING AT THE SHOP WAITING ON FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO 'DECIDE HOW MUCH THEY WILL COVER, IF ANY'. I AM INFURIATED!

THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK ON THE LOW BEAM SETTING. FOUND THE HEADLIGHT RELAY TO HAVE HEAVY CORROSION. THE FRONT MOST TERMINAL HAS CORRODED OFF OF THE RELAY ENTIRELY AND IS NOW STUCK IN THE ELECTRICAL BOX UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I NOTICED THIS CONDITION WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE EARLY EVENING JUST BEFORE SUNSET. I WAS ABLE TO ARRIVE AT HOME BEFORE THE LACK OF LIGHT CAUSED ANY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE FUSE IS DESIGNATED R11 ON THE ELECTRICAL BOX. IMPROPER SEALING OF THE ELECTRICAL BOX HAS LED TO MOISTURE BE ALOUD IN CAUSING DAMAGES. FAULTY CONSTRUCTION FROM MANUFACTURER.

MY 2012 FORD FIESTA HAS NO FILTRATION SYSTEM TO PREVENT SALT AND MOISTURE FROM GETTING INTO THE ENGINE FUSE BOX. LAST YEAR, A MECHANIC REWIRED THE FUSE BOX LOW BEAM RELAY TO A DIFFERENT FUSE, NOW THE CORROSION HAS STARTED UP AGAIN. THIS FORCES ME TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS UNTIL I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FUSE BOX, WHICH IS EXPENSIVE AND CAUSES ME TO BE UNSAFE UNTIL I FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ONLINE.

DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THE RELAY (R11) RESPONSIBLE FOR SWITCHING ON & OFF THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAS CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT ONE OF THE PINS IS STUCK IN THE FUSE BOX & IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE BOX. INITIALLY, THIS STARTED WITH INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT FAILURE--SOMETIMES AT STARTUP & OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE & OTHER CARS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE ME WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING. I'VE HAD TO DRIVE WITH HAZARDS INSTEAD OF HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT TO ENSURE OTHERS COULD SEE ME WHILE I MOVED MY CAR FROM THE HIGHWAY TO A SAFE PARKING SPOT. I NEARLY HIT A DEER I WAS UNABLE TO SEE DUE TO MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS MAKE & MODEL HAS BEEN RECALLED IN CANADA BECAUSE THEY RECOGNIZE THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE PRESENT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS NOT RECOGNIZED IN THE UNITED STATES.

THE EXACT TIME OF THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN. I HAD NOT DRIVEN MY CAR AT NIGHT FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE I TRIED TO TURN ON MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WHEN I WAS PARKED IN A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT. MY CAR'S LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS DID NOT TURN ON. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE LIGHT BULBS WERE UNDAMAGED, BUT THE RELAY HAD BECOME CORRODED. WHEN THE RELAY WAS REMOVED THE CORRODED PRONG BROKE OFF (OR OTHERWISE REMAINED) IN THE FUSE BOX. NOW THERE IS NO WAY TO REPLACE THE RELAY, BECAUSE OF THE PRONG IN THE FUSE BOX. MY LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK. MY TURN SIGNALS AND MY HIGH BEAMS STILL FUNCTION, BUT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH ONLY HIGH BEAMS. SO, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE CORRODED RELAY PRONG IN THE FUSE BOX. THE PRONG IS BLUE/GREEN AND IS LOCATED IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND OF THE PICTURE. RECENTLY IN CANADA, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR SIMILAR FORD FIESTAS.

THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THEY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, PEDESTRIANS AND ONCOMING VEHICLES. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. IT HAPPENS IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURES. IT OCCURS BOTH DURING CITY DRIVING CONDITIONS AND HIGHWAY DRIVING CONDITIONS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHORT BETWEEN THE HEADLIGHT, THE VEHICLE FUSE BOX AND THE HEADLIGHT ON AND OFF SWITCH. THE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND FUSES HAVE BEEN CHANGED.

MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED TO ME BY THE DEALER AS POTENTIALLY BEING THE CAUSE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT ALONG WITH SHUDDERING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER REPLACED (FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 12-MONTHS) THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, THE SEALS, THE CLUTCH RELEASE LEVER AND THE CLUTCH SLAVE BUT STATED THAT WHILE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE CLUTCH NOR DID IT CONTRIBUTE TO THE CLUTCH PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED FORD WARRANTEE OF THE CLUTCH. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE SEVERAL MONTHS BACK BUT, BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME, THEY DISMISSED THE ISSUE AS NORMAL FUNCTIONING OF THE CLUTCH. THE SAME ISSUE WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE INITIAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT A YEAR AGO. I PLAN TO PURSUE THE ISSUE OF THE THROTTLE BODY WITH FORD IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THEY ARE ACKNOWLEDGING AND TAKING OWNERSHIP OF ETB ISSUES WITH 1.6M OTHER FORD MODELS IN THE SAME PRODUCTION PERIOD.

While my 16 yr old twin sons were driving on freeway, a loud pop of pressure release from motor occured, and steam blew out from under hood obscurring their visibilty. they were able to pull over safely and call me. Upon arrival, after confirming they were ok, I checked under hood to see that the intake manifold had built up to much pressure for the PCV hose and the recirculating hose that connects to top of valve cover. Oil had sprayed out everywhere and car will not start. Ive lost compression in 2 cylinders now from the fast overheat. My childrens safety was severily compromised by this chain reaction of a failed PCV valve. I TEST DROVE IT AND THOUGHT IT SOUNDED A LITTLE LOUD BUT DIDN'T REALLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS SO I IGNORED IT AND TOLD THE SALESMAN I WANTED TO START THE PURCHASE PROCESS. I ENDED UP LEASING THE CAR IN MARCH 2012. BY SEPTEMBER 2012, I MOVED TO ARIZONA AND TOOK A JOB WITH CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES. I STARTED NOTICING MY CAR JERKED A LOT AROUND 20,000 MILES (EARLY 2013). WHENEVER I WENT IN FOR MY OIL CHANGE AT EARNHARDT FORD IN CHANDLER, AZ I MENTIONED THE SHUDDERING AND JERKING OF THE CAR. IS GOING BACK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE, FOR WHAT WILL NOW BE THE 4TH TIME, TO POTENTIALLY HAVE ANOTHER CLUTCH REPLACED. THE VECHICLE "SPUTTERS" AND JERKS. My brakes on my ford fiesta are not giving me enough pressure to stop on time , which is an hazard. The master cylinder and calipers have been replaced and my brakes are still not working properly and safely. The brake pads have been replaced , the rotors as well and nothing is still working. I’ve been driving like this for more than 6 months and it’s a hazard. I’ve taken it to different mechanics , etc nothing still not working. When pressing the brakes it’s no pressure and I have to mash it all the way to the ground which still feels Iike it does not want to stop for me.

Transmission Malfunction, this is the 4th time that I am having to replace the transmission. I am taking the car back to dealership to get the transmission fixed for the 5th time. The car jerks when it comes to a stop. Hard time accelerating or does not accelerate. I put the car in R and it did not budge at all, even turned the car off and turned it back on same thing. This car should not be permitted on the road. Does not shift gears properly, the RPM run very high. I am afraid to drive this car constantly, even after I get it out of the shop because I just know that the transmission will eventually malfunction on me again. Very unsafe and unreliable to drive.

THE VEHICLE HAD AN ABNORMAL IDLE WHILE AT A STOP, AND WOULD SOMETIMES STALL. UPON ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND JERK FORWARD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MECHANIC CLEARED THE CODE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BUT THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ON A CAR THAT WAS A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS OLD. THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY. THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AT A COST TO ME OF $245.99. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, ABNORMAL IDLE, STALLING, AND HESITANT AND JERKY ACCELERATING. AGAIN, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH FRONT SEALS, INPUT SEALS, AND AXLES SEALS, CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID, ADDED 2 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE FORD 5 YEAR, 60,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. ABOUT 5 WEEKS LATER I WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, ABNORMAL IDLE, HESITANT AND JERKY ACCELERATION. AGAIN, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WITH NO CHOICE, I NEED TO GET TO WORK, I TOLD THEM TO GO AHEAD WITH THE REPAIR WHICH ONCE AGAIN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY. THE TOTAL FOR THIS REPAIR COST ME $720.26. AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 AM ON OCTOBER 2, 2017 I LEFT FOR WORK. ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD I SUDDENLY LOSS POWER STEERING. I WAS TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND WAS NEGOTIATING A CURVE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. I FAILED TO NEGOTIATE THE CURVE AND VEERED OFF THE ROAD COMING TO A STOP BEFORE HAVING A COLLISION WITH ANY TREES. I LOOKED AT MY DASH AND THERE WAS A DIGITAL MESSAGE THAT READ POWER STEERING FAULT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED SO I RETURNED HOME DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. I WAS ABOUT 1.5 MILES FROM A 9% DOWNGRADE WITH SHARP CURVES; HAD THIS FAULT HAPPENED AT THAT POINT I SURELY WOULD HAVE IMPACTED A GUARD RAIL AT BEST OR GONE OFF OVER A CLIFF AT WORST.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DETECTED A TROUBLE CODE WITHIN THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

WE BOUGHT OUR 2012 FORD FIESTA ABOUT A 2 YEARS AGO. SINCE THEN WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 MECHANICS AND THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND LURCHES FORWARD AT RANDOM. THE CAR HAS MAJOR ISSUES ACCELERATING AND HAS ALMOST GOTTEN US IN MANY ACCIDENTS. THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT GETS STUCK IN A LOWER GEAR AND WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF IT EVEN AS YOUR FOOT IS PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN.

I HAVE BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2014 JANUARY FOR A GOOD MILEAGE AND STYLISH LOOK.THE VEHICLE PERFORM WELL FOR COUPLE MONTHS. MY FIESTA NOW HAS 43K MILES AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION WORK IF I WOULD HAVE TIME I WOULD DEFINITELY BRING MY CAR TO THE SERVICE MORE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE. MY DOOR WILL NOT SHUT AND IS CURRENTLY DUCT TAPED SHUT. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE FORD SAYS THAT MY DOORS MAY OPEN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. THERE IS A NOTICE OF A RECALL OUT BUT, I CAN'T GET MY DOOR FIXED BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T HAVE THE PARTS. HOWEVER, I WAS STILL NEVER OFFERED A RENTAL OR ANY OTHER FORM OF HELP ON THIS MATTER FROM FORD. I SPOKE TO THEM ON THE PHONE AND EMAILED THEM AND MY CAR IS AT THEIR SERVICE CENTER RIGHT NOW AND I HAVE NOT BEEN OFFERED A SOLUTION. ALSO, I HAVE ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION. NOW, WITH MY DOOR NOT SHUTTING I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PERFECT TIME TO TAKE CARE OF ALL OF THESE ISSUES. MY CAR IS AT THE SERVICE CENTER NOW, BUT FORD HAS SAID THEY DON'T SEE AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT DOESN'T GRIND EVERY TIME I PUT IT INTO FIRST BUT IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND WHEN I AM AT A STOP LIGHT IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO GET IT INTO FIRST GEAR. THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE IN A SECURED POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DOOR LATCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.

SIX MONTHS AGO I HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERS FOR A FAILED DOOR LATCH ON MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND LIGHTNING STRUCK AGAIN. I WAS BEGINNING TO FEEL LIKE A PRO. WENT TO THE STORE AND LOADED THE FRONT SEAT THIS TIME WITH GROCERIES AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND IT JUST BOUNCED BACK. IN A WAY I WAS GRATEFUL BECAUSE I KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG BUT AT THE SAME TIME I WAS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING? I WAS IN A LOCATION WHERE I COULD RETRIEVE A BUNGEE CORD FROM MY PLACE OF BUSINESS AND LUCKILY IT WAS A SATURDAY AND FORD WAS STILL OPEN SO I TOOK IT IN AND THEY COULD LOCK IT UP UNTIL MONDAY. THEY OVERNIGHTED A PART FROM ANOTHER DEALER AND WERE ABLE TO INSTALL IT LATE TUESDAY NIGHT BUT AS IT SO HAPPENED PUTTING THE LATCH AND DOOR BACK TOGETHER, THE RIGHT SIDE WINDOW HANDLE REGULATOR BROKE AND THEY HAND TO REPLACE IT. I ENDED UP GETTING MY CAR BACK ON THURSDAY. SO IN A MATTER OF SIX MONTHS I HAD TWO BROKEN DOOR LATCHES ON TWO DIFFERENT DOORS. I WAS GRATEFUL TO BE CLOSE TO A FORD DEALER BUT IT CONCERNS ME FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT AND THOSE WHO MIGHT BE TRAVELING FAR DISTANCES AND THIS HAPPENS. IT CONCERNED ME THAT IT ALL THE WARRANTIES THAT MY NEW CAR HAS AND STILL HAS THAT THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR. ONLY REASON THEY PAID FOR IT WAS BECAUSE I CALLED AND RAISED A KERFUFFLE AND POINTED OUT THE SECURITY AND SAFETY CONCERNS AND IT ACTUALLY HAD TO BE ASSIGNED A WHOLE CASE NUMBER. MY RIGHT REAR DOOR THAT IS HARDLY EVER USED WILL NOT CLOSE DUE TO THE LATCH. I WAS 200 MILES FROM HOME AND IT WAS LABOR DAY WEEKEND SO COULDN'T GET TO DEALERSHIP. HAD TO BUY A BUNGEE CORD TO SECURE THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE AND IT STILL OPENED SLIGHTLY GOING AROUND CURVES AND BACKSEAT ITEMS ALMOST FELL OUT. MY VEHICLE IS A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS OLD BUT DUE TO MY JOB OF DRIVING FREQUENTLY (DRIVING CHILDREN) I AM WELL PAST THE 36K WARRANTY AND WILL HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THIS. I WAS LOADING ITEMS INTO MY BACKSEAT AFTER VACATION IN THE BACK RIGHT DOOR AND WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR WHEN IT BOUNCED BACK. IT WAS NOT LOCKING AT ALL. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE JANUARY AND HAVE MAYBE OPENED THE BACK DOORS 20 TIMES A PIECE AS I DRIVE ALONE 90% OF THE TIME AND WITH MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER WHO SITS IN THE FRONT SEAT THE OTHER 10% OF THE TIME. WE TRIED TO FIDDLE WITH THE LATCHING MECHANISM, BUT NO COMBINATION OF ADJUSTING THE LATCH WOULD YIELD CLOSURE. WE EVENTUALLY SETTLED ON TAKING A TAXI TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND GETTING 2 BUNGEE CORDS TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT ON OUR DRIVE BACK HOME. THE CURRENT ISSUE IS THAT MY DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF AND I FEAR FOR MY BATTERY IN THE TIME IT WILL TAKE ME TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AT 29,500 MILES SO I'M HOPEFUL THAT THEY WILL FIX THIS ISSUE FOR ME PROMPTLY. I was driving to work this morning; the car made a horrible "clunk" when I accelerated to around 20 then lost power and nearly crashed. The car then displayed error lights (yellow CEL, yellow wrench icon, HEAD unit showed "transmission issue service immediately" This is a direct result of the DPs6 transmission put into all 7th gen Ford Focus/Fiesta models. This DCT transmission has been replaced 3 times for this particular car and failed the same manner each time - meaning 3 near accidents have occured because this transmission fails. Across the USA; more than 50 people have been injured as a result of this transmission failing.

I TRADED MY CUBE FOR FIESTA. THERE ARE TWO RECALLS I FOUND THE ATTACHED IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK IT TO SLOAN FORD. THEY TOLD ME IF IT DOESN'T MEET THE SPECIFICATIONS OF A RECALL THEY WON'T DO THE REPAIR WORK. TUES THEY PROVIDED A SHUTTLE SERVICE. I NEED THE CAR TO WORK. THE CAR WON'T KICK IN FROM STOP TO START. IT'S A CONCERN TO ME AT A STOP LIGHT. THE WINDOW COVER IN PASSENGER SIDE DOG CHEWED ON THE HANDLE WON'T GET REPLACED. ALSO THE WINDOW SWITCH ON FRONT PASSENDER WON'T CLOSE. The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle began to vibrate violently, after which the contact observed white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The contact also stated that there was a coolant odor throughout the interior of the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The overheating and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

2012 ford fiesta check engine light on codes reading o2 sensors, catalytic intake, misfires, fuel injection, etc. I have had my fiesta at 3 mechanics all very known for there reliability all diagnosing it different issue recommending me to go to dealership which I was turned away because the recalls for the vehicle isn’t an issue for any of the possible diagnostics. Single mother of 3 now no vehicle, no money and no way of providing without transportation. Less than 150,000 Miles owned less than two years and the amount of money put into the vehicle ford should be ashamed. Shuddering and accelerating issue was told clutch and transmission issue but no help or actual known diagnosis since ford won’t diagnose the suspected diagnosis from any of the mechanics I have taken the vehicle to and they can’t for sure diagnose it until ford confirms the diagnosis since this is a known issue. They also sent me two recalls but refused to fix the recalls because I wasn’t 100% sure my vehicle needed the repair and threatened to charge me 150 diagnostic charge for the recall after I already poured my heart out to them about the issue I can’t seem to even get repaired due to there lack of care care as a manufacturer

OM SUNDAY MARCH 28,2021 MY HUSBAND AND I ATTENDED A AUTO AUCTION. WHEN THE DEALER BROUGHT OUT A 2012 FORD FIESTA. BEFORE BIDDING STARTED EVERYTHING LOOKED AND SOUNDED ALRIGHT. WE ENDED UP PAYING $3200.00 FOR A VEHICLE THAT THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE FAULTY PROBLEMS. CAR HAS A LIEN ON IT. AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT I CAME TO A RED LIGHT WHEN IT TURNED GREEN THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING LOOSING FUEL AS WELL AS ACCELERATION. I THAN PULLED INTO THE A PARKING AT THE GAS STATION TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION MAKING NOISE AS WELL AS SLIPPING, SPARK PLUGS, OIL CHANGE. I THEN DROVE BACK TO THE CAR BUT EVERYONE WAS GONE FOR THE DAY. I TRIED CALLING THE OFFICE THE NEXT DAY AND LEFT MESSAGES. NO RESPONSE WHAT SO EVER. WHEN I START THE CAR, THE 1RT GEAR WON'T GO INTO SHIFT SO THE CAR STUTTERS AND SHAKES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER BUT THEY INSISTED THAT THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED REPEATED AND FREQUENT PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE: SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON DAILY, OFTEN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR JUST AFTER I BEGIN ACCELERATING; THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY (HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE AT 97,000 MILES AT GREAT EXPENSE) AND SIMPLY STOPS WORKING AT UNEXPECTED TIMES (E.G. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL AND WON'T MOVE, SHUDDERS, ETC. I HAVE TO TURN MY FIESTA OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO MOVE).. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I READ THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE ISSUES FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE, AND HAS NOT PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED. OCTOBER 24, 2012 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. I ACCELERATED VERY GINGERLY (THE POWERSHIFT IS EFFECTIVELY TWO THREE SPEED MANUALS SO YOU CAN'T JUST JAB IT) TO PASS. THE CAR GEARED INTO A LOWER GEAR AS EXPECTED AND THE ENGINE RPM'S SPIKED AS EXPECTED. THE LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION WAS TURNING RED SO I BRAKED EASILY TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. AT THIS POINT THE CAR WAS HOLDING THE LOWER GEAR AND REVVING OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR (AS IT WAS TRYING TO OVERPOWER THE BRAKES) AND PLACE IT INTO NEUTRAL WHICH STOPPED THE PROBLEM. THE CAR THEN DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE CAR. AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE, I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION GEARED DOWN AGAIN. THE PROBLEM REPEATED. I TRIED PLACING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AGAIN, HOWEVER, THIS DID NOTHING. I CUT THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY AT 50 MPH. MY STEERING GOT REALLY HEAVY. I USED THE BRAKES AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW THE CAR AND STRONG ARM THE WHEEL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TRANSMISSION IS JUNK AND THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING MANY PARTS INCLUDING A COUPLE CLUTCHES (IT ONLY HAS TWO I BELIEVE) AND SOME OTHER INTERNALS. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WITH THE TRANSMISSION OF MY 2012 FIESTA, BEGINNING ROUGHLY IN NOVEMBER OF 2014. THE FIRST SPECIFIC INCIDENT I CAN RECALL OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 18, 2014. I WAS DRIVING FROM TOLEDO, OHIO TO THE DETROIT, MI AIRPORT AND BACK. I HAD TWO OTHER PASSENGERS IN MY CAR WHO NOTICED THE VIOLENT SHAKING/SHUDDERING PROBLEMS THAT MY VEHICLE WAS HAVING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE SHUDDERING OCCURS AT BOTH LOW SPEEDS AND HIGH SPEEDS. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE MY CAR STARTED SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY THAT IT COULD NOT MOVE FORWARD ANY MORE. AT THAT TIME A SEMI-TRUCK WAS COMING UP BEHIND ME AND HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME. THE SPEED LIMIT AT THIS BUSY INTERSECTION IS 40MPH. AT THIS POINT MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. SO FAR, THE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL AND I AM TOLD THE POTENTIAL PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE (THE CLUTCH) IS ON BACK ORDER FOR A MINUTE OF 6-8 WEEKS. I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY CAR IN THE MEAN TIME, AND THAT NO ONE CAN ASSIST ME AT THIS TIME, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE SINCE JANUARY 2015. While driving, the vehicle continued to jerk and there was smoke coming through the vents. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, there was an abnormal booming sound detected. The "Transmission Failure" message appeared on the instrument panel along with several other unknown warning lights. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission had failed, and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). The contact stated the failure reoccurred while driving and the vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD CONSISTENT TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND ENGINE RATTLE UPON ACCELERATION WHICH AFFECTS THE THE INITIAL ACCELERATION OF THE CAR. THE SPORADIC DELAY IN INITIAL ACCELERATION HAS BEEN AN ONGOING SAFETY CONCERN. MOST RECENTLY THE VEHICLE ALMOST STALLED COMPLETELY AFTER BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE INTO A MERGE. THERE WAS A FEW SECOND DELAY IN ANY MOVEMENT OR POWER TO THE CAR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE COMING AT THE TIME OR THIS VEHICLE MALFUNCTION WOULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER 5 TIMES FOR THIS COMPLAINT AND IT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT FORD KNOWINGLY REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND SEALS IN MY CAR WITH MALFUNCTIONING PARTS. APPARENTLY NEWLY ENGINEERED PARTS WERE PRODUCED AS A PATCH FOR THIS ISSUE. EITHER THE OLD PARTS WERE USED TO FIX MY CAR, WHICH WOULD BE QUITE AN EGREGIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, OR THE NEWLY ENGINEERED PARTS ARE STILL MALFUNCTIONING. I NOTICED THAT MY DISPLAY SAID THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS SIDE WAS AJAR. I THOUGHT ODD BECAUSE NOBODY USES MY DOORS. I GOT OUT, AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR ONLY TO HAVE TO BOUNCE BACK AT ME. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. FORTUNATELY, A FRIEND WAS ABLE TO LOAN ME A BUNGEE CABLE TO HOLD MY DOOR CLOSED. IT IS CURRENTLY SECURED WITH ROPE AND THE BUNGEE CABLE. 2012 FORD FIESTA: PURCHASED 12/4/12 ORIGINAL OWNER! HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION CONCERNS SINCE MY I PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT WITH, THEY TOLD ME NOTHING ABOUT THE AWARENESS OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IN FACT I RAN INTO THE SALESMAN WHO STATED HE JUST FOUND OUT HIMSELF AND IS HE HAD KNOWN HE WOULD NOT ADVISED THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. SINCE THEY HAD BEEN REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH WITH NO COST OUT OF MY POCKET, I CONTINUED TO HAVE THEM REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. BUT, I HAVE NOW SPENT MORE TIME BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE DEALER AND HAVING TO LEAVE MY CAR FOR DIAGNOSES AND REPAIR WORK AND IT IS GETTING VERY OLD. NOT TO SAY WHAT THIS DOES FOR THE RESALE OF THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIRS FOR THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH HAVE BEEN ENDLESS, REPLACING SEALS, REPROGRAMMING COMPUTERS ETC ETC. I WAS TAKING MY SON OUT ON THE TOWN BECAUSE HE WAS VISITING FROM MISAWA AFB IN JAPAN AND WE MADE A STOP AT THE CONVENIENCE STORE AROUND THE CORNER, HIS WIFE GOT OUT OF THE CAR, SHUT THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. I HAD TO HAVE HER HOLD THE DOOR SHUT AS WE DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO GET IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY MADE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE DOOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I PAID $130 FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THE LATCH AND CABLE NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CABLE IS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD TAKE 4-5 DAYS AND COST OVER $500 TO GET IT FIXED. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN JULY OF 2012 AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE MAIN ISSUE BEING THE HORRIBLE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR SPUTTERS AND SHAKES UPON TAKE OFF; THE RPMS REV UP VERY HIGH AND YET THE CARE GOES NOWHERE; THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT NEEDS TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR, BUT DOESN'T; THERE IS A HUGE DELAY WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS, THE CAR SITS THERE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY GOES ANYWHERE; THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHEN YOU ARE IN SITUATIONS LIKE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS AND THE CAR HAS HAD 3 CLUTCHES SO FAR. THE NEWEST PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS A HORRIBLE SQUEALING COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I'VE HAD TWO NEW SETS OF BRAKES AND A DEGLAZING OF THE BRAKES, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST.
