2015 Ford Focus with DPS6 automatic transmission failure. 109,### miles only. Symptoms: No reverse gear, severe clutch slip (high RPM but car barely moves), strong burnt clutch smell, check engine light on. DTC codes: P07A3, P07A5, P087A, P087B, P090C. Ford dealer (Camelback Ford, Phoenix AZ) diagnosed the issue but quoted $3,175 just for labor to open the transmission for inspection, refusing any goodwill assistance after 14M02 program expired in August 2025, despite low mileage and known widespread DPS6 problems covered by TSB 16-0129. Note : "November 20, 2025 – Date I purchased the vehicle. The transmission problem (no reverse, clutch slip, burnt smell) was present immediately upon purchase." Requesting NHTSA investigate Ford's refusal to offer reasonable post-warranty assistance for this well-documented safety-related transmission defect.

The contact's son owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while her son was driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the mechanic could not diagnose the failure because there were no active warning lights illuminated. The contact's son had received a message from the Ford App that there was a Customer Satisfaction Program for the TCM (Transmission Control Module). The failure persisted, and the dealer was notified of the program, and the contact was informed that the Customer Satisfaction Program had expired. The contact was referred to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer informed the contact that there was a warranty on the vehicle for the purge valve. The contact was instructed by the manufacturer to inform the dealer to have the purge valve replaced under the warranty. The contact informed the dealer about the purge valve warranty, and the dealer informed the contact that the failure was not related to the purge valve and insisted that the failure was related to the TCM. After several disputes between the dealer and the manufacturer about the issue, the contact was informed that no assistance for the repair would be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

Vehicle was checked by local dealer and stated repair code 14M02 needed to be completed. 10 year extended warranty was concluded in June, 2025, but this is a safety concern. The car stopped in the road, right off the interstate, because the transmission quit working properly. Gears shifted very hard when transmission started working again. After parking, the car would not go back into reverse.

I’m writing about my 2015 Ford Focus (VIN: [XXX] ), which has under 38,500 miles. While heading to work, I suddenly lost power steering—no warning, just stiff steering out of nowhere. The repair cost me over $5,000 to replace the electric power steering rack, which only a Ford dealer could handle due to software restrictions. This follows a TCM replacement that Ford covered under recall. I contacted Ford for goodwill assistance, but they refused. At this mileage, these failures are unacceptable. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the steering wheel, the steering wheel was sticking and jerked abnormally, making it more difficult to maneuver the vehicle. The contact experienced resistance while turning the steering wheel to the left or the right. The contact stated that there was a rubbing, grinding, and scratching sound coming from the steering wheel. The contact stated that the jerking had gotten progressively worse and occurred while accelerating from being idle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear and rack and pinion had failed. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V514000 (Steering); that was related to the 2014 model vehicles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

Car is stalling at low speed and losing power. Does not do it at high speed. Occasional check engine light. Will start surging. This is a know issue with the Ford Focus and Ford has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program 24N07. They refuse to honor the program unless you keep paying them for diagnostic work until the code shows up for it. I have ran the codes myself on it and it is fuel related to the Canister Purge Valve. This issue is very dangerous in that the car does stall out on the road with no warning. I have had this issue with the car for several years and have received the CSP letter but cannot get the work done. The issue happened 3 times yesterday, 11-5-2025.

To Whom It May ConcernI am writing regarding the fuel system recall on my 2015 Ford Focus (VIN: [XXX] ), specifically related to Recall Number 18S32 / NHTSA Campaign Number 18V735000, which involves the canister purge valve, a required PCM software update, and inspection of the gas tank. This recall was started at a Ford dealership in Two Harbors Minnesota which I paid cash in December 2022. The problem consisted with many inconveniences in side of the road break downs. I had the recall serviced again in 2024 in Blythe CA at Ford where the purge valve was supposedly replaced, but the software update was never completed by that Ford because they claimed that the update was done in Parker AZ around 2022. The gas tank was not inspected for damage. My car is stalling in the middle of driving leaving me in grave danger since this happens on the freeway in Las Vegas, in the middle of nowhere in the desert and has done so in below zero degree in Minnesota all while I have my two small children in the car with me. This jeopardizes myself and children’s lives by stranding us in unknown places and weather elements that are harass or stalling on freeway not allowing me enough warning to get to the side of the road which could cause someone to hit my car from behind at a high rate. The full recall has not been performed. I bought this faulty car in Parker AZ which it should have never been sold with this problem jeapordizong my family’s life. The fuel tank has never been inspected either. Recent: The car keeps dying in traffic in Las Vegas traffic. I paid to have it towed to a dealership which is harassing me and not fixing the car with excuse after excuse such as the car isn’t under recall and the battery terminal needs to be cleaned. Their excuses are petty when it comes to my vehicle, continuously stalling in the middle of traffic in Las Vegas on a busy freeway due to your recall that has not been completed. This vehicle stalls while driving due to a faulty purge solenoid inspected by Pep Boys mechanic. There was a recall on the ford focus in 2018 18V735000(recall number) I purchased this vehicle in 2023 with no known recalls. This issue occurred September 2024 I paid for the repair two weeks ago and now the same issue is existing. There were no warning lights displayed when the car stalled while driving. My safety and the safety of my child is at risk being that the vehicle stalls while driving which is could be the cause for accidents and or collisions

This car has had repeated issues rough idle after fueling for years. Replacing the oxygen sensor did not resolve the problem. The dealer resetting the car's computer did not resolve the problem. I recently had to replace the canister purge valve (CPV) after the car began stalling after fueling. This resolved the idle issue. I noticed Ford recalled CPVs on Ford Focuses built in Michigan (as mine was) between 2012-2018 (GDI) and before 2017 (GTDI); however, my car was excluded from this recall. Can you please investigate to determine if there are additional vehicles which also received defective parts for which the cost to replace them should be covered? Thank you.

The EVAP system has failed and has resulted in drivability issues. It is available for inspection if needed. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service provider with a full diagnostic exam. There is a P0420 and P1450 code on the car. There have been issues with the distance to empty on the car. Sometimes it says I have 290 miles to empty or 400 miles to empty when I fully fill up my car with gas. *There is a Ford Focus recall (Recall #[XXX]) which covers the exact issues I’m having with this car, but the car is not included in this recall. The driver’s side door will not latch and the door cannot close. This is the same defect covered by Ford recalls 16S30 and 20S30, but my VIN was excluded. Ford CRC opened case number CXH05284452-Z8X6J1, but denied coverage. I have had to rent a vehicle while my car is unsafe to drive. This is a major safety hazard as the door can open while driving.

The transmission system, specifically the clutch assembly, failed or malfunctioned. The Ford dealership conducted a diagnostic test and determined that the clutch assembly needed repair. To manage costs, I had the repair performed at AAMCO. Despite this repair, the issue was not resolved, and AAMCO later found metal shavings in the transmission fluid, suggesting internal transmission damage. Yes, the vehicle and its transmission system are available for inspection upon request. The malfunctioning clutch and potential transmission damage pose significant safety risks. A failing clutch can lead to the inability to change gears properly, which can cause the vehicle to stall or lose power unexpectedly while driving. This could result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of an accident, especially in high-traffic situations or on highways. Furthermore, the presence of metal in the transmission fluid suggests that there might be further internal damage that could lead to sudden transmission failure, further endangering the driver, passengers, and other road users. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by two different service centers. Initially, the Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as a stuck clutch and replaced the clutch assembly, but this did not fix the problem. Subsequently, AAMCO inspected the vehicle and identified metal in the transmission fluid, indicating a more severe transmission issue. Both these findings confirm that there is a persistent problem with the vehicle’s transmission system. Yes, the vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership (the manufacturer’s representative), who diagnosed the clutch issue and performed the initial repair. Additionally, the vehicle was inspected by an independent service center (AAMCO), which identified metal in the transmission fluid, indicating internal transmission damage. There has been no inspection by the police or insurance representatives at this time.

I bought a brand new Ford Fusion in 2015 at Planet Ford Dallas. Since then, I have had my car maintained regularly at this dealership. However, my car has recently showed symptoms of intermittent loss of transmission. Then, I made an appointment on Aug. 19, 2024 and showed the recall letter to the dealership to request an inspection, but the rep refused to take a look at it, saying there were 20 people ahead of me and said the wait time for fixing TCM (the transmission control module) problem was at least three or four months. On Aug. 20, 2024, I called Ford Customer Relationship Center but could not fix this issue. I am very angry and frustrated because I trust Ford and its dealership will take good care of my car whenever I have my car maintained there. I believe fixing recalls is mandatory, so Planet Ford Dallas should fix it for me voluntarily. Why did they not notify me about this TCM problem and fixed it for me in the first place whenever they serviced my car in the past 9 years? If they had found this problem, I would not have to worry about the possibility of my car breaking down in the middle of the road anytime, not to mention the possibility of a car accident. Ford company should monitor its dealerships whether they fix Ford Recalls and if Ford customers still experience some problems because this is an issue of passenger's safety. Also, Ford company should notify Planet Ford Dallas about its poor performance and poor customer's satisfaction. If all dealerships work like this one, no customer will want to buy any Ford cars any more just like me.

While sitting in my driveway my car just killed and wouldn't start again. Towed it to osseo ford and there is no compression in engine. They said the timing belt is in the oil and disintegrated and broke causing the engine to fail. I've got documentation from dealer. They have a recall on 2016.. why not 2015s? My car has 163,000 on it and its junk now because of the belt design and it being a common issue. Why does there have to be a law suit filled for ford to admit this and why only 2016 and newer.. why not all 1.0 ecoboosts with this issue. For this reason I will never buy ford again. Nor will my friends and family. Stand behind your issues ford!

What happened: My 2015 Ford Focus has significant safety defects Ford has refused to address, despite these issues being covered under their Customer Satisfaction Programs (CSPs). These defects include engine stalling, power loss, and transmission issues, which pose serious risks to my safety and that of others. Ford’s inaction has exacerbated these problems. Key Issues: Engine Stalling and Hesitation (CSP 24N07 - Canister Purge Valve): The car stalls unpredictably at low speeds, especially during turns or stops, with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp. This has led to dangerous situations, including near-accidents at intersections. Transmission Problems (CSP 14M02 - Transmission Control Module): The vehicle experiences intermittent power loss, failure to start without gas application, and a "Service Engine Soon" light. These issues have worsened over time. Clutch Defects (CSP 19N08 - PowerShift Dual-Clutch Transmission): The car exhibits jerking, shuddering, and slipping during normal operation, compromising control and safety. Timeline of Events: June 2020: I reported clutch issues under CSP 19N08, but Ford dismissed them as "not severe enough." January 2025: I returned to address worsening CSP issues, but Ford denied repairs, claiming the mileage cap had been exceeded. They demanded $4,000 for clutch replacement and $190 for diagnostics—fees I consider unjustified since these problems are related to acknowledged defects. While driving down the highway the vehicle all of a sudden made a long depleted noise and then the vehicle shifted into 1st gear and wouldn't come go faster then 5 or 10mph. Check engine light came on and had to immediately put hazard lights on and get onto feeder to then drive the vehicle home at a very slow pace. Vehicle no longer shifts into higher gears. Got home and had family member test drive vehicle and vehicle would only go into 1st but with issues. Then tried reverse and the vehicle wouldn't shift into reverse, sounded like it was in neutral, would rev but not shift into Reverse gear. Managed to turn around and parked it back in driveway. Found in glove compartment the last inspection performed on the vehicle on September 24, 2023 which was done by the dealership I bought the car from. On the back of the inspection report it lists 2 recalls for power train issues on clutch shudder and clutch control module. However, both say something about warranty, and when I took the paper to the ford dealership I was told that's not a recall it's an extended warranty and it expired in 2022 for the clutch shudder issue but the module one they would replace for free. I would like to understand about the first one regarding clutch shudder and the warranty part. The ford dealer service tech was very unconcerned about this and pretty much says it's only a 7 year warranty on that issue so it would have needed to happen or be brought in 2022. Basically saying I'm out of luck with my problem. This seems like a very dangerous problem with this car and I would think was an actual recall item not just an extended dealer warranty item. I also had a auto mechanic test drive and look at the vehicle and they also confirmed this was a clutch issue. Can someone explain and verify this information?

Ford Focus 2015 w Select Shift. The warranty is in effect for 10 yr 100,000 drivetrain. TCM - AE8Z7Z369F The car began sputtering in the middle of August when pressing on the gas. The car would jump when hitting about 12-15 mph and again at 28-35 mph. At this point the engine light was on I took the car to a local certified auto shop where it was diagnosed that the TCM module was having problems and I would need to take it to a dealership. Late august I took it to the Beacon Healey Ford Dealership to get it fixed and they confirmed it was the TCM and that it could be a few weeks because the part was on backorder. I called every few weeks and it has been the same status since then. Luckily this part and the labor will be covered under warranty but this has left me in a very difficult situation that the dealership or ford are not doing much to help with. I was not offered a loaner/rental car and have been using a relative's car which they will be needing back soon. It has been 3 months and they still do not have a loaner for me or any updates at all on an estimated time for resolution or when the part will at least become available.

My car shut off randomly in the middle of lane and on the highway too. My car show "system fault". Didn't start until I put a new battery. The next day it happened again it show again "system fault". So I change a wire sensor that connects to the battery. It work then while you are driving it stop or when you are parked too. I really don't want to drive I'm afraid I get into a accident while on the road.

There was already a recall performed on the vehicle for the purge valve being stuck open and a gas tank deformation. fast forward a few years and now the same issue is happening to the "repaired" parts. What are my options to have this recall correctly repaired?

We are experiencing the fuel tank evaporate issue where car shuts off while driving. We were not recalled specifically but now have car in shop waiting on the recall to be reopened as the conditions match the issue under the recall. We have had 3 incidents that could have ended up in a collision as car abruptly shuts down. This is related to the evap fuel tank and sensor issues reported in the original recall. Our vehicle apparently had the programming updated during a past service visit but obviously has not corrected this issue. This vehicle has also had the transmission recall done shortly after purchase and transmission still acts up on occasion. Not happy with the current issue as it is a potential death trap when car shuts off for no reason.

On August 14th at approximately 2 pm my Ford Focus came to a complete stall at the intersection of Seymour Hwy and Brookes Ave in Wichita Falls, Texas. After several failed attempts to restart the vehicle it was pushed into a saver location and towed by Mike's Towing in WF to Quality Lube on Pearlie Drive also in WF. Fuel gauge was sitting at a little over 1/4 tank and panel was reading 78 miles to empty. I ran the VIN and pulled up a recall from 10/22/2018 that Ford neglected to contact me the owner of. The mechanic at Quality Lube would not touch it because of the recall. On August 15th I put gas in and the vehicle started right up, I drove the vehicle from Quality Lube straight to Pruitt Ford (location of purchase) located in Burkburnett, Texas. Left the vehicle and my mother called the next day and explained the problem and dangers improper vacuum through the fuel tank could cause and recall was pulled up. Pruitt Ford failed to run diagnostic to insure their fix actually fixed the issues, stating that they performed the recall and the check engine light was no longer on so they were done on their end. Picked up the vehicle from Pruitt Ford midafternoon on August 18th. August 24th the Check Engine Light came back on, Pruitt Ford was called and stated I would be responsible for $135 to run a diagnostic. I had the code pulled up and it stated P1450 Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum. Pruitt Ford failed to repair the vehicle to a safe condition. On the 25th the vehicle was taken back to them after being supplied a case number to get the vehicle properly repaired through Ford Motor. CAS-38298302-J2R8C6 This morning I get a call from Pruitt Ford stating that Ford Motor will not honor the recall due to the mileages on the vehicle. This is a 2015 with 65,844 miles on it, there is no mileage limit on a recall and recalls have no expiration date. Ford Motor states it is not a warranty problem therefore the dealership is responsible recall repairs.

Vehicle looses all power while driving on freeway. Gas guage inaccurate, after filling gas and driving 150 miles it is out of gas without warning and will loose power under any operating condition. This has happened numerous times.

Ford has been fully aware of its DPS6 transmission design flaws and failures for many years. A formal recall was appropriate and they have not done so all this time; therefore, a consumer is not warned of the problem through the tried and true channels of BMV lookups during new registrations, dealer records resulting in notices sent, or other lookup tools. This causes the problem to present itself unexpectedly and progressively, and it causes quite a bad hazard by affecting the ability of the vehicle to accelerate and decelerate as expected. These transmissions slip into neutral unexpectedly as well, and it shouldn't be accepted that that is considered not a hazardous situation. Especially on the interstate, it can cause a crash. Support and responsibility by Ford is very bad. An auto transmission that isn't a flawed design may cost $2,000 to fully replace. The dual-dry clutch in Ford's PowerShift design is prone to failure. Even despite that Ford says it extended coverage for PowerShift transmissions, this can result in a $3600 repair bill, promises to cover it defaulted on, and factory warranty dishonored. I've been told by Ford it will make the defect right, but the repair estimate was $6800, twice what the car is valued for and impossible to afford to fix.

Car will start surging and then will stall out. First noticed when car was purchased, but was told it was normal for the car to do. I will start the car and it'll run for a few seconds then die. Sometimes for only a couple times and then the car will run okay. There are times it'll surge then die up to 7 times in a row. Only a couple times it has surged and died while out driving. The car would die in the middle of the road. Car started up with issues almost 3 weeks ago and is progressively getting worse. Sometimes the engine light comes on then it will turn off. 2 different dealerships, Jess Ford, in Pullman Washington and Joe Hall Ford in Lewiston Idaho, both have done inspections and claimed to have fixed the transmission, but the issue has continued to be an issue. It has happened over 15 plus times of stalling and surging in the last week. TCM replaced, clutch replaced, fuel purge valve has been replaced. We were told it was a one-time fix, but it has been a nonstop issue since. The technicians informed us that it would fail again, and it did. Car is a 2015 Ford Focus, under 94k miles.

Stopped to get gas. Turned off engine. After filling up gas tank, car would not start, or crank/turn over. No check engine light has been on, no warning lights. Disconnected battery for about fifteen min. Car started up. Took it to shop, they changed out the evap Purge system. It failed when they tested it so they changed that out. Car did not stall when they test drove it. Car stalled two more times. Once when accelerating from a red light, and second time when just sitting in idle. Car just shuts itself off but the radio stays on. This is such a safety hazard because of the fact that not only does it stall in the middle of me driving But I’m very lucky I didn’t get rear ended or T boned because of this. So I thought this issue was fixed but obviously not. After the last time it stalled after getting it fixed, I then had it towed to a Ford dealership. I know this has been a recall on other Ford focuses. For some reason not mine which is a 2015 Focus. Last year I had to have the TCM fixed which was a recall so that was free however then they tell me that my clutch went bad at 60k miles? I shelled out almost $3k for that nonsense. Now This stalling it constantly Day after day at 75k miles? Thanks a lot FORD. Take your piece of [XXX] back and issue this a recall. The power train control module & transmission control module has failed since I bought the Focus 2016 at 660 m on it. I’ve had this serviced 8 times @ Ford. Check engine light is on. Code P060A Was shown @ Ford. Mileage now is 72000. TCM & PCM were recall several times. Ford is charging me to fix it. Please tell me how this is NOT covered 10 yr. 150 k mile warranty OR by the 8th time being “serviced” & UNRESOLVED?

When driving in stop and go traffic 0=5 mph for about 30 mins the car began to act as if was slipping and revenge up without moving and engine light came on and would sometimes slam into gear. I placed vehicle in sport mode and it idled irratically to the point I felt it was going to shut down. Upon arrival home I realized that now reverse had went out when attempting to put car in driveway. I will be taking it into Ford today for the 1 recall on the fuel canister software but I feel that it is not related and hope they will make some discovery and fix it accordingly.

Car is available for inspection if needed. This could have been a fatal crash without air bag deployment. Car is currently being inspected by insurance company. Police were at the accident scene. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms that anything was wrong with air bags. There are no current recalls for air bags according to Ford manufacturer. Ford manufacturer was contacted regarding issue and they stated that they won't do anything about it, they won't look at car or investigate, only to follow up with our insurance company.

The car would not shift into a gear, would not shift gear to propel itself in traffic causing a safety issue. A warning light would come on saying the transmission was getting overheated. Ford of Glenwood Springs Colorado refused to look at the car because of its age despite the recall on the clutch for the year, make and model of the car. A NAPA shop determined the clutches were out. NAPA quoted $4,253 to fix the problem. I called Ken Garff Ford in Fort Collins Colorado at 4809 S. College Avenue to get this fixed under the recall. They said my VIN number wasn't covered, and the cost would be $6,000. I called Ford 1-866-436-7332 spoke to Ron employee #2192738 and was told he would document the call but could not do anything. Ford is aware of the safety issue we simply want them to standby their product and fix the problem or reimbursing us for the repairs to avoid a further hardship to get to work. It was mainly the clutch, apparently, but the work order includes a lot more. Yes, it is available for inspection. The car was difficult to control. It was slipping and was having trouble getting into gear. I was driving on a winding mountainess road, parts of it are along a cliff with a reservoir/lake below. Just my usual drive to work here in the Sierras. It go's without saying that others were put at risk since the car was difficult to handle. Yes, the car needs a new clutch and other stuff to the tune of $5,000 up. The car has less than 80,000 miles on it and has had two transmission replacements and a prior clutch replaced a little over a year and a half ago. I was unaware of these prior problems as the car was purchased by me one year and a month ago. The Ford Corporation was part of a class action suit and it was settled a few years ago, unfortunately, I did not own this 2015 Ford Focus at the time. No, the car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative. But, yes, by a Ford Dealership mechanic here in Sonora, California. The extended warranty for the clutch has expired on this car not that long ago. The extended warranty for the transmission has not expired. I wonder if the problem is the transmission since the transmission light came on but then I would'nt have to pay them anything. The independant garages around here won't work on this car. The first time the car engine light came on the car died. I went to the nearest repair shop and they put in a new battery but that was not the problem. So, the next day I'm driving to work on the winding mountainous road and a light came on, it said transmission overheating.

Car will not go in reverse and shakes vigorously when shifting gears. We think it is an issue with the transmission. I called multiple ford dealerships as focuses have known transmission issues with these exact symptoms, but they said they cannot take a look for weeks. They have a policy where they will give rental cars for these transmission issues, but they are pretending they are not sure what the issue is and will not take a look for weeks, leaving me without a car for weeks because ford sold me a defective car.

What happened? I purchased a 2015 Ford Focus from Carvana in November 2022 with about 70,000 miles on it. Since then, the vehicle has experienced numerous and severe mechanical failures. The engine mount and transmission mount have both failed and required replacement. Check engine light went on 2 minutes later a notification came on dash saying transmission hot safety pull over for 5 mins. Sat there for an hour scared to drive it cause I didn't want to make worse. When I went to drive home it struggles shifting into 1st and not even 3 mins after it shakes into 2nd gear it notifies me that transmission is hot to pull over. I will not drive it afraid it could catch fire and won't shift Car in a shopping plaza waiting to tow to house. Called 2 shops in Canton Ohio and they both said not a shop in town would touch the dual clutch transmission to take it to ford.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated that on various occasions after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle would not immediately restart and required multiple attempts. The contact also stated that when she was able to restart the vehicle soon after refueling, the vehicle stalled and then lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure was reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the canister purge valve (CPV) needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V479000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in either recalls. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. Upon entering Interstate highway 66, my car started jerking and the RPM gage was fluctuating and loosing power. A tractor trailer swerved and blew the horn. My car shut off on me in the right lane. I was able to restart and drive toward the shoulder and a warning light states “Transmission Overheating Stop Safely”. I took it to my certified mechanic and it read code P0460. When he lift the car, the gas tank is sunk in. Back in summer 2019 there was a recall on the “purge valve” and we notified them in 2020 that the car stared jerking and acting like it wanted to shut off. Again the code #P0460 same part and they said the warranty on the valve expired they can not reopen the recall. Now my gas tank is caved in and the car is stalling out on the highway getting worse. Ford Motor company keeps brushing us off and not concerned about the safety of their vehicle.

Cannot change my tires due to swollen lug nuts. Because of this my tires have not been able to be rotated and will need to be replaced because of too much wear. Several mechanics have had difficulty getting them off and on and have said that I need to purchase replacements because Ford lug nuts are notoriously bad. If I were to get a flat tire, I would be stranded.

Two part lug nuts experience swelling over time and make removal of the lugs very difficult and may result in the lugs not being adequately tight when the wheel is put back on. The dealer confirmed that this is a known problem and when they repair this issue, they use an after market lug that is not a two part lug, and therefore doesn't have the swelling issue. I was not aware of this problem till my most recent annual inspection and when I expressed surprise, the dealer mechanic stated that even though Ford is well aware of this issue, Ford will not cover this item and its the owner's problem.

THE LUG WRENCH THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE IS 3/14' AND FITS THE WHEEL LOCK ADAPTER THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE.

When moving forward from a stopped position, the front tires shake/stutter which requires you to let up on the accelerator and move forward at a lesser speed to stop the shaking/stuttering. Also while the engine is warming up, the transmission is slow in changing gears, and in some cases it doesn't feel as if they change at all.

While driving to work, my transmission started to slip. On the freeway, if I pressed the gas pedal, my car would NOT go faster. Instead, my engine would rev to almost redline and my car would continue to coast, but loose momentum. Once the transmission downshifted to a lower gear, then the transmission would begin to work. Once I got into the City, I almost rear ended someone when the transmission surged. I was pushing the gas through an intersection, and suddenly my car lurched forward, the tires squealed, etc. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid slamming into the car in front of me.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH THE PART FOR THE CLUTCH WAS PUT IN AND IT GOT WORSE! NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TOOK BACK TO MERTZ FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT'S FINE NO FURTHER ACTION TAKEN

AS I WAS GETTING MY FIRST GEAR READY TO GO MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AND I T-BONED THE PERSON TURNING. I HAD MY CHILDREN WITH ME AND AFTER THIS ACCIDENT I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN MY CAR, I LOST TRUST IN FORD KEEPING ME AND MY FAMILY SAFE. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF THIS HAPPENING AND IM TOLD ITS NOT BAD ENOUGH FOR FORD TO COVER IT UNDER MY WARRANTY BECAUSE IT DOESNT MEET THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR A REPAIR. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE CLUTCH AS WELL AS TCM. A TOTAL OF 3 TRANSMISSION REPAIRS AND NOW IM PASSED MY WARRANTY SO THEY WONT COVER THE DIAGNOSIS. IVE HAD IT LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS TOLD ITS NOT BAD ENOUGH OR THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AT ALL. AND MY VIDEOS ARENT PROOF ENOUGH EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN SEE MY CRUISE IS SET AND MY SPEED DOESNT CHANGE BUT MY RPMS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE, NOR IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO MAKE MY RPMS STAY CONSISTANT AT A RATE. I was getting ready to leave the grocery store and I crank up my car and I had a light come on stating that my car was overheating transmission turn off the car and as I tried to pull out of the parking lot, the car would barely accelerate it would barely go to mountain and it was stuttering up the heels I had to turn off the vehicle. Let it sit for five minutes to let it cool off and then I had to crank the car back up and then it started to drive again, but I did get a indication on my front dash stating that it was transmission

Radio and speakers have not worked for over a year- making loud popping and screeching sounds. Automotive center #1 stated it was a computer system fail and they could not fix it because they did not have the proper software. Then I went to get a new fuse for the cigarette lighter and was told something is leaking. Took it to Firestone automotive center to be told nothing is leaking and I should go to Ford because it is most likely a sensor issue. Car says it is overheating when it is in idle. And no one I go to seems to care to help me get things fix. Ford can't help for 2 weeks due to availability. This has been the worst experience with a car I have encountered with trying to figure out the problem.

VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS. INSIDE DASH LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF. CANNOT HAVE INSIDE DOME LIGHT ON (THE LIGHT THAT COMES ON WHEN DOORS OPEN) OR IT DRAINS THE BATTERY. SETTINGS FOR RADIO/HEATER/CLOCK/ETC. CHANGE ON THEIR OWN. NOTHING EVER STAYS SET. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP A COUPLE TIMES NOW AND THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING. THEY KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS THE LAST TIME. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN I HAVE THE STARTING PROBLEM. Regrettably, the 2015 Ford Focus hatchback I purchased has been plagued by a series of critical issues. These include recurring starting problems, erratic gear behavior, such as hesitating to move in Drive and unexpectedly moving forward in Reverse, sudden and dangerous deceleration while on highways, and an incessantly illuminated tire pressure warning light. These issues have left me profoundly concerned about the overall safety and reliability of this car. Over the past four months of ownership, the last two have been marred by stress and anxiety. A harrowing incident almost transpired when the car inexplicably slowed down to a mere 15 miles per hour on a highway, placing me at great risk, with a truck narrowly avoiding a collision. What's particularly distressing is that these problems aren't unique to my vehicle alone. Numerous other owners of 2013, 2014, and 2015 Ford Focus models are grappling with similar issues, suggesting the existence of potential systemic flaws within these vehicles.

The front windshield wipers will slow after only a few minutes of use, in a heavy or light rain, and eventually come to a stop after about 30 more seconds. This happens every time I use the wipers in the rain. I have had it looked at by a Ford service tech at a dealership on at least 3 occasions, but they claim either that they cannot recreate the problem, or that they are designed to work that way to avoid burning out the wiper motors. Wipers should not be designed to stop working when it is raining, that is just ridiculous. Despite Ford's position that this is all new to them, or that it is how they are designed to work (depending on whom you talk to at Ford), the fact the wipers stop working during rain...heavy, moderate, or light rain...it is a well-known issue across the Ford Focus ST enthusiast community. A simply Google search will uncover many identical reports. When the wipers stop working during a rain, you obviously cannot see clearly ahead. You can turn the wipers off then back on to get them working again, but they stop all the same soon after.

THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS. TO GET THE WIPERS WORKING AGAIN, I USUALLY HAVE TO TURN THE WIPER CONTROL OFF AND THEN BACK ON. DURING THIS TIME, RAIN IS ACCUMULATING ON THE WINDSHIELD, REDUCING VISIBILITY. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. I REPORTED THE WIPER PROBLEM TO THE DEALER, BOB THOMAS FORD, 2215 DIXWELL AVENUE, HAMDEN, CONNECTICUT 06514, ON AUGUST 15, 2018, WHEN THE CAR HAD 11,122 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE DEALER DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. RECEIPT FROM THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTION STATED: "REFER TO SSM 45753." REPAIR TECHNICIAN SAID HE COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. SINCE THAT TIME, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE CONTINUED TO STOP, UNPREDICTABLY, IN A VERTICAL OR OTHER POSITION ON THE WINDSHIELD.

I REPLACED THE BLADES WITH GENUINE FORD BLADES AT THE DEALER'S QUICK LANE, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE SERVICE DEPT. COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM ON TWO VISITS, AND SAID IT HAS AN ADVANCED SENSOR SYSTEM AND "IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO THAT." I AM AFRAID THE WIPERS WILL GIVE OUT IN A STORM. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SNAPPED AT ME "IF YOU KEEP COMING BACK, WE MAY HAVE TO CHARGE YOU," EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TIME LEFT ON THE FULL WARRANTY. SO IN APRIL OF 2019 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AT CARMEN FORD IN NEWCASTLE, DE WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM. WHEN I TOOK IT THERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR THE RECALL HAD CAME ON AND IT WAS JERKING. THEY CLAIM THEY FIXED IT. WELL IN THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER 2019 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE SAME CODE AND WAS JERKING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO CARMEN FORD. THEY HAD MY CAR THREE WEEKS AND THEY SAID ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS RESET TWO THINGS THAT WEREN'T MATCHING UP. THE SAME DAY I PICKED IT UP I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK BECAUSE IT WAS STILL JERKING. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY RESET MY TRANSMISSION AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE. IT STILL HAS BEEN DOING IT. HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE. IT DOES WELL ON THE HIGHWAY BUT ON THE STREET OR REGULAR TRAFFIC IT DOES IT EVERY TIME. IT BOTHERS ME BECAUSE IVE BEEN ALMOST HIT A COUPLE TIMES BECAUSE IT SHAKES AND THEN GOES.

Service engine soon light came on, repair shop said I needed a tune up and could still drive ok. Broke down. Got that done and still engine light on so transmission fluid changed too. Now repair shop says it’s the transmission and clutch assembly that the dealer recalled and fixed a few years ago. I’m stuck with payments still and no way to get the $5000 the dealer days it will cost to fix this. Car value is the same. Everyone I’ve talked to has said this is a bad year’s model and will continue to break down even after fixing. Can you offer any advice? Thank you!

THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO THE FORD FOCUS/FIESTA DPS6 TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DUE TO THE DRY DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM ISSUE, THE VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD SHAKE AND RUMBLE VIOLENTLY WHILE MOVING. THIS MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN THE SUPPOSEDLY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM THE FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE FIRST TIME I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH WHICH STOPPED THE RUMBLE ISSUE UNTIL FEW MONTHS LATER, THE RUMBLE RETURNED. AGAIN I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THIS TIME THEY BLAMED IT ON THE PURGE VALVE IN THE GAS TANK WHICH THEY REPLACED. THIS DID NOT FIX THE RUMBLE ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT TRY TO VERIFY THE RUMBLE. THEY SIMPLY DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT BY STATING THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FEW MONTHS LATER WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, THE RUMBLE OCCURRED AGAIN BUT WORSE THAN BEFORE. IMMEDIATELY MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AS IF IT'S STUCK AT FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DROPPED TREMENDOUSLY WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND EVERYONE WAS GOING 60+ MPH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WITHOUT GETTING HIT. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT RAN CONTINUE TO RUMBLE BUT NOT AS VIOLENTLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I QUICKLY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, THE WARRANTY COMPANY REFUSE TO COVER THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR BECAUSE THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM IS TECHNICALLY A MANUAL CLUTCH. FOR THAT REASON THEY DO NOT COVER IT. AS A CONSUMER, WE HAVE NO IDEA EXACTLY WHAT TYPE OF PARTS THE VEHICLE CONTAINS. THE VEHICLE WAS ADVERTISED AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHICH IN COMMON SENSE, IT DOES NOT CONTAIN A MANUAL CLUTCH. THE DEALERSHIP WAS REQUESTING $2000+ FEE TO REPLACE THIS CLUTCH. AT THE SAME TIME OF THIS INSPECTION, THE PURGE VALVE IN THE GAS TANK WAS ALSO DEFECTED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

While driving vehicle on highway the Ford Focus started down shifting while accelerating. This caused the car to not be able to reach sufficient speeds on the road and could have caused an accident. With my family in the car I exited the highway and drove the vehicle home, with the car continuously down shifting and not being able to accelerate as designed. The transmission has known problems and model recalls. I brought it to the dealer for repair but the dealer would not honor the recall. I also called Ford customer care and they were of no help in covering this known issue.

A BOUGHT A USED FORD CAR FROM TOYOTA, THE CAR UNKNOWINGLY HAD A RECALL ON IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN SEEN 10 TIMES, UNDER WARRANTY, THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH HAS GONE OUT, FORD AND TOYOTA HAVE REFUSED TO BY BACK THE CAR. CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR 31 DAYS AS OF NOW. AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RENTAL, FORD WILL NOT OPEN THE RECALL BACK OPEN. HENDRICKS WON'T LOOK AT THE CAR THEY TELL ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO FORD. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR WOULD NOT EXELORATE PASS 40-55 MILES PER HOUR. THE RADIO, BLUETOOTH PORTS STOPPED WORKING. THE AUTO START AND STOP STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD COMPANY MORE THAN 10 TIMES WITH 6 CASE NUMBERS. The dealer researched and confirmed that the recall repair was not completed. The dealer stated the vehicle was only inspected. The dealer advised the contact to contact the manufacturer for approval to reopen the recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to see if there could be an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.

In August 2023 Focus would not accelerate smoothly while in traffic. Check engine light turned on. Vehicle would not go into reverse. Diagnostic scan negative with personal scanner. Took to transmission shop. Actuators replaced per diagnostic check $880. TCM ok. Slipping on acceleration continued with RPM to between 5-6 on acceleration. Took vehicle back to shop and actuators resynched with TCM. I received Ford Recall for defective TCM module dated September 2023. Ford evaluated by local Ford repair shop. Diagnostics performed. Recommendation was to replace clutch assembly $4100. Was charged $200 for diagnostics. Ford diagnostic report states: Description-U0073 Control module communication bus A off Failure type-88 Bus off Status-28 (Not current DTC) *Fault previously detected, not currently present* My concern with this info is if the fault was detected there is still fault! Am concerned that the faulty TCM and actuators caused issues with the clutch assembly and do not feel safe operating my 8 year old Ford due to skipping while accelerating in traffic. Vehicle one owner with 70,000 miles. No accidents and am young senior driver-age [XXX] . I can forward repair shop documentation. Thank you for your review and look forward to your recommendation. My oil pressure pump and tensioner are the issues . I need a new engine replacement. Everything that 23s64 ford describes on there engine replacement claims is what the issue im going through now with my 1.0 ford focus 2015 . I took it to ford to get it diagnosed already and they are the ones that told me and as well got a second opinion through repairpal and they said the same. I have everything documented. Due to this issue I almost lost my life and my child's while driving my ford focus. Lost all pressure while driving with her in the car. Now she's nervous and scared when we get in any car . Due to she saw the car coming rite into her side on passenger side. No warning lights came on till after the issue had already happened . My brake pedal won't go down . Please help me this is my only form of transportation to work and to pick up my daughter. I dont have money to buy a new engine. Thank you so much for any assistance with this issue. This car has been nothing but problems. When my car was first bought from carmax it started having issues 6 months down the line. Under warranty.at the time carmax didn't want to help me and ford dealership didn't assist me with any help. Under warranty keep in mind . Then it's been issue after issue . 1. MY car shuts off while driving and I don't understand why because my battery is new and all other components don't seem to be the issue i.e.: battery, starter, alternator. 2. My safety and the safety of my passengers were at risk because the car shuts off with no warning while driving. 3 I currently have the vehicle being inspected by my local Ford dealership but the problem has happened several times before taking the car to the dealership. 4. The problem is currently being inspected by the Ford dealership. 5. There were no warning's before the car shut off.

2015 Ford Focus, 67,000 miles would jerk , shudder & shut off completely , it would not accelerate or reverse half of the time. Stops in the middle of no wear.. the engine light would come on for a few days then go off and come up again.. the music stopped working& the RPM’s would go pass the 6,7 or 8 at only 10-15 miles & jerk while goin forward .. a safety problem would pop up “ transmission overheating stop safety “ my air would blow hot some days and it would smell like something burning.. confirmed by dealership it’s the clutch .. no warnings for these problems besides jerking / not accelerating at a reasonable speed and safety problem stating to “ stop safely transmission overheating “ &a burning smell & 2 safety recalls for the clutch & TCM with extended warranty. Warranty would not cover for the clutch problem they stated.

UNKNOWN. Power steering assist fault message appeared. After driving the car on the road and stopping to fuel up and turning off the car the error message appeared. The power steering was not working making the steering wheel hard to turn. No warnings or errors prior and as well no error codes found via OBD reader. Safety was put at risk as I was not able to turn the wheel when trying to take off after stopping. Several people have complained online already about this same issue.

I am having issues with the company Ford in regards to my vehicle. It has been at Dowling Ford, in Cheshire, Connecticut for 5 weeks. I believe I am one of the unlucky 2015 Ford Focus owners who was sold a one of the cars that has a faulty transmission. After doing some research, I discovered that Ford has a lawsuit against them for unloading Ford Focus' with faulty transmissions. I will attach the link to the article stating this information. Ford is trying to charge me $5900.00 to fix the car that wasn't even brought in for the reasons that they are trying to charge me with. I bought the car for just under 7,000. It is only a 2015 and has 106,000 miles on it and should not be running into these problems. I have contacted the corporate office of Ford multiple times and they refuse to offer any help what so ever. I have only had the car for two years. My car was only brought in because the wipers weren't working properly and it was overheating while only in idle. It was diagnosed that the transmission module needed to be replaced which was covered under the warranty. Well, the bad news began there when I had to wait 2 weeks for that part to come in because it was "back ordered". Once that was replaced, they tried to tell me now that something else needs to be replaced which was the clutches on the transmission and it would cost $3200. Then once they fixed that which took 4 more days, they now are saying something else is wrong which is the transmission case and would be an additional $2700. My car was not brought in for any of these issues and now all of a sudden, my car needs them all replaced. Ford, hasn't even offered me a loaner during the last 5 weeks. I don't feel safe in this vehicle, and I know that I am driving an unsafe vehicle that shouldn't have even been sold to anyone.

I just bought this car 2 months ago after saving for a whole year. I’ve been having problems week into the purchase due to the transmission. My car has been overheating with the transmission (almost every 4 miles), going on limp mode (when pressing the gas), jerking (while driving), not reversing and not starting right away. Im trying my hardest to get on my feet after a being in a domestic abuse relationship that affected my and my daughters life. I just want to get my baby back and fourth from school. So I BEG you to approve the transmission recall for Ford Focus. PLEASE!!!

I GOT THE CLUTCH FIXED UNDER WARRANTY A FEW WEEKS AGO NOW THE CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH KEEPS HAPPENING IT HAPPENED BEFORE I KEEP TAKING IT IN TOO GET FIXED AND THE PROBLEM KEEPS GETTING WORSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS NOW. I’ve been having issues with my automatic clutch transmission since I’ve bought this vehicle. There has been numerous repairs done but the company tells me they aren’t responsive on covering another. It causes the car to jerk when accelerating aggressively and has almost caused a wreck. It has been confirmed by the dealership. No warning signs with this. First started to appear a few months after buying the vehicle and then upon repair the issue would return I few months after the fact and the dealership would not help.

When driving my car the first day I bought it, the wrench icon illuminated, telling me to check the manual. I figured I would do so after work, but as I tried to start the car to leave work, I received a "Stop Safely Now" message and could not start the car. It had at least 30% charge, being electric, so that had nothing to do with it not starting. I am glad this did not happen when I was driving, as I have seen other instances of earlier years of the Ford Focus electric with this same issue. In other cases, it came in while the owner was driving, causing all power to the accelerator to stop. It was recently serviced since I just bought it, so I know there shouldn't have been any outlying service to be done. I am calling a tow service in the morning to have it taken to a dealer, so hopefully they can figure out the issue. I just wanted to let others know that this item that has had a recall on earlier years still persists with the 2015 model.

DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN NORMAL CONDITIONS WITH OVER 30 MILES LEFT TO A CHARGE ON A SUBURBAN STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR, SUDDENLY A RED TRIANGLE WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH STATING STOP SAFELY NOW. 60 SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND I LOST ALL POWER LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE DARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PROCEED HOME. THERE IS NEVER ANY PRIOR WARNING TO THIS HAPPENING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO ME WITHIN A 2 MONTH PERIOD AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALERSHIP TWICE WITH NO RESULTS. I DRIVE 40 MILES TO WORK ONE WAY ON VERY BUSY PHOENIX FREEWAYS AND AM PETRIFIED THIS WILL HAPPEN IN THE HOV LANE AND I END UP IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I had a ford certified tech work on my Ford Focus and after my recalls were supposedly repaired my car is doing worse than ever, if I stop on a hill I will sometimes roll backwards due to apparent engagement issue, and after a new tcm to fix that my car now displays “transmission overheating stop safely” after a few miles on the highway. it shifts really rough and I haven’t ran the risk of stopping on a hill. Not what I would expect coming from a family who has over 100 years put into working at ford motor company.

I was driving down the highway and my door locking latch and cable failed. The door came open going 75 MPH.The defective dealership part I found out is the subject of recalls on other Ford Focus year models but my model was left off the recall. This is a huge safety concern as my door is unable to lock at all times including highway driving.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated while reversing out of her driveway, the “Contact Dealership” appeared on the rearview camera of the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rearview camera module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

ON THURSDAY EVENING, 11/22/2018, I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT ON A CITY STREET (SPEED LIMIT 35) WHEN MY CAR STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. MOVING AT MOST 25 MPH WHEN IT OCCURRED, THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON AS I SLOWED. I TRIED ACCELERATING SLIGHTLY TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO THE LEFT TURN LANE (MOSTLY OUT OF TRAFFIC) BUT FOUND MY POWER STEERING WAS COMPROMISED. I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS, PARKED, AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED 5 SECONDS, AND RESTARTED THE CAR WITH NO TROUBLE. I WAS SHAKEN, BUT THANKFULLY NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR OR INJURIES TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE STALL, I HAD MY TRANSMISSION SERVICED, AND I WAS MADE AWARE OF FORD MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 18S32 AND THAT MY CAR WAS ONE OF THE AFFECTED. WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A WEEK AFTER SERVICE, ERROR CODE P2195 (BANK 1/SENSOR 1 LEAN) CAME UP, AND THEN WENT AWAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE AND CONTINUED TO DO SO. MY INITIAL COMPLAINT WAS POSTED ON 06/19/2015, THE DAY OF MY TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. MISTAKENLY, I FILED THE COMPLAINT UNDER THE REGULAR FOCUS MODEL AND NOT THE ELECTRIC. LAST FRIDAY, I JUST CHARGED MY CAR TO 100% AT WORK. LATER, I WAS DRIVING HOME AT 40 MPH WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL I WAS ABOUT TO HIT MY FIRST RIGHT TURN. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON THE STREET LEADING ME TO THE 210 W FREEWAY. WHILE TURNING RIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED AND FROZE UP AND DID NOT ALLOW ME TO MAKE A FULL TURN. I WAS FORCED TO MAKE THE WIDEST TURN POSSIBLE, THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO CARS OR IT COULD'VE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR STRAIGHTENED OUT SMOOTHLY AGAIN. HOWEVER, BECAUSE I AM 8 1/2 MONTHS PREGNANT I FELT SCARED TO GET ON THE FREEWAY. I NEARLY DROVE STRAIGHT THROUGH A METAL FENCE TRYING TO MAKE THE TURN TO GET OFF THE ROAD. NOW WHEN I TURN MY KEY FORWARD MY CARS COMPUTER SENDS A MESSAGE SAYING "STEERING LOSS, SAFELY PARK VEHICLE" THE ISSUE I AM REFERRING TO BY CHECKING "UNKNOWN/OTHER" IS A SHUDDERING TRANSMISSION. AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE INTERSECTION I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO TURN THE WHEEL AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND TRIED APPLYING MY BRAKES, ALL THIS RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ME GOING OVER A CURB DOWN A DITCH INTO A RESERVOIR AND THEN I GOT BOUNCED BACK UP THE DITCH AND HIT A TREE WHICH FINALLY STOPPED MY CAR. MY CAR IS NOW TOTALED I'VE ONLY HAD OT FOR 17 MONTHS AND BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT I COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES TO FORD AND THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WASNT A FIX AVAILABLE, NOW I'M OUT OF MY ONLY CAR I STILL OWE MONEY ON IT DUE TO IT BEING FINANCED, AND STILL FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX. SINCE PURCHASING MY 2015 FORD FOCUS BRAND NEW IN JULY 2015, I WAS STONEWALLED BY TWO DEALERSHIPS OVER THE CLUTCH SHUDDERING/JERKING/JUMPING ISSUE BEFORE A THIRD DEALERSHIP (IN ANOTHER STATE!) FINALLY REPLACED IT. SHORTLY AFTER I HAD A FRONT COVER OIL LEAK THAT WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THEN, ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS ON THE VISOR AND RADIO CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING, THEY FIXED MOST OF IT BUT THE PASSENGER VISOR LIGHT STILL DOESN'T WORK. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I STARTED HEARING A POPPING SOUND IN THE RADIO, THEN THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. TODAY AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK THE TRANSMISSION BLEW WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE, THEN THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN. I OWN A 2015 FORD FOCUS AND A 2016 FORD FOCUS BOTH WERE IN AN ACCIDENT. THE 2015 FORD FOCUS WAS T-BONED. I GOT INJURED AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAGS. THE 2016 FORD FOCUS WAS REAR - ENDED AND I SUSTAINED ADDITIONAL INJURIES AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. THE T-BONE I WAS ENTERING THE INTERSECTION ON A GREEN LIGHT. THE 2016 I WAS STOPPED AND A CAR IN FRONT OF ME MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN SOMEONE SLAMMED INTO ME DOING 35 MILES PER HOUR. BOTH TIMES NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. 2015 FORD FOCUS. DRIVING HOME, ALMOST CRASHED HEAD ON DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING IN MY VEHICLE. PURCHASED NEW 3 MILES IN JUNE 2015. A major electrical issue has occurred in this car since June 1, 2025. The Traction Control System dashboard indicator (the skidding car) comes on even though I am not using the TCS. When this happens, I get a message saying "Hill start assist not available," and am unable to manipulate my headlights, use turn signals, or lock/unlock my doors (I need to use the physical key to lock/unlock the driver's side door). If this "Hill start assist" issue occurs and I turn off my car (or if it occurs when the car is off), then I am unable to start my car. I get a new message saying "No Key Detected," and the ignition does nothing. I have a physical key, and not a fob. If the TCS light goes away, then I am able to start up my car. However, this is unpredictable; there appears to be no way to force the TCS light to disappear, and sometimes it will stay on for over an hour with my key in the "on" position. As of late, it hasn't gone away at all, making the car unusable. This causes obvious safety issues when on the road, as I cannot use turn signals or change my lights as it gets darker or it begins to rain/snow. When not on the road, I cannot use my car at all. A dealer recently confirmed the problem with the Body Control Module, but was unable to fix it. They managed to turn the car on, but the problems returned after 24 hours. As I was driving home on July 18, 2025, the TCS light came on and suddenly I could not use turn signals or change my lights. I still had over an hour to drive home. I did arrive home safely, but have not been able to use my car since.

Vehicle stalls & shuts off during use with zero warning, both while in park and while car is running and stopped with foot on brake at a stoplight, and also seems sluggish and straining during active driving as if it wants to stall and shut down. When car stalls, a warning displays (System Start Fault) when attempt is made to restart vehicle and the vehicle WILL NOT restart for anywhere between 45 minutes to 4 hours (so far). The vehicle will then go through varied reactions to attempts to restart when ignition key is turned ... ranging from the dashboard warning of System Start Fault with no success at restart to absolutely NO response of dashboard or other lights/warnings/electrical (completely dead). When this stall/complete shut down occurs, it also becomes locked in whatever gear it was in (Park or Drive) when the stall & immediate shutdown occurs and the gearshift locks in place and you're unable to shift into park or neutral as needed for tow or to move the vehicle off the roadway without the tow driver or other person dismantling the area covering the gearshift to access the hidden pin to shift into neutral to move the vehicle from the roadway. After the first complete shutdown during use occurred, it was taken to a local Ford dealership who was "unable to find the cause" at that time. Since that time, this complete shutdown while in use has occurred another four times within the 3 months following, resulting in either towing the vehicle or waiting 1-4 hours where the vehicle stalls/dies (parking lot, stoplight, etc) until the vehicle decides to restart. I have become terrified of driving this only means of transportation as I don't know when or where this vehicle is going to shut down without warning and fear I will be struck and killed by another vehicle or someone else killed when it shuts down again on the active roadway.

I went to the Ford dealership for 18S32 Recall and I was charged over $ 400 for recall to be performed. I did show them the Safety Recall Notice-18S32. There was not a crash but I went from Middle lane on GSP to right most lane and a nice lady slowed down to let me pull over to the shoulder. This could have been an accident. How can Ford dealership refuse to perform this recall and charge customers over $ 400? I will have to scan and upload the bill tomorrow.

There have been several instances, while driving highway speed limits and when braking, the car accelerates for a few seconds before the vehicle brakes and slows down. This can be very dangerous especially if traffic stops unexpectedly. I have a couple close calls. There weren't any warning lamps given and I have not taken it in to dealership to examine. I have not inquired with dealership mechanic if this was an occurrence they have encountered.

UPON ENTERING MY DRIVEWAY, CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND STOPPED WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY. THE FORD FOCUS RECALL FOR THE FUEL TANK DEFORMATION IS NOT ACCURATE. THE RECALL LETTER WE RECEIVED SAID TO MAINTAIN AT LEAST 1/2 TANK OF FUEL, BUT MY CAR HAS SHUT DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AT TURNAROUNDS DESPITE HAVING A FULL TANK. THE SOLUTION TO THIS WAS PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED FOR DECEMBER 2018 AND HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2019. FORD NEEDS TO BE FURTHER PRESSURED TO FIND A SOLUTION NOW AS THIS POSES A MAJOR CRASH RISK. IN ADDITION TO THIS, I'VE BEGUN NOTICING ISSUES WITH THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING A NOISE. I RENTED A VEHICLE FROM ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR. I DID NOT RECEIVE THE VEHICLE I RESERVED AND PAID FOR. I TRIED TO ASK FOR A REFUND AND WAS TOLD I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE RENTAL AND WAS LOCKED INTO THE AGREEMENT AS AN UBER DRIVER. WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION IS STUTTERING, GRINDING AND PERFORMING POORLY. FORD SAID THAT THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE "I DRIVE TOO CAREFULLY, THE TRANSMISSION IS DESIGNED TO BE DRIVEN AGGRESSIVELY AND WILL GET STUCK BETWEEN GEARS UNLESS YOU 'FLOOR IT'".

I TRADED THIS VEHICLE IN FROM A 2012 FORD FIESTA, WHICH AFTER THREE YEARS HAD BECOME A ROLLING DISASTER, FROM THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION TO THE ALWAYS-DYING BATTERY AND TWO RECALLS. THE DEALER ASSURED ME THE 2015 FOCUS WAS REDESIGNED AND MUCH BETTER. I'LL ADMIT IT DRIVES MUCH BETTER, IS ROOMIER, AND NO JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION LIKE THE FIESTA'S "AUTOMATED MANUAL" TRANSMISSION DID. BUT NOW WHEN THE VEHICLE GETS HOT, I SMELL AN OVERWHELMING SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING, ALMOST LIKE A GASKET, RUBBERY TYPE SMELL. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BRAKES, ENGINE OIL, WHAT. I TOLD THE SERVICE DEPT. ABOUT IT, BUT THEY SAID WITH JULY THEY WERE SHORT OF HELP WITH VACATIONS, AND SINCE THE CAR ONLY HAD 500 MILES ON IT, I HAD "PLENTY OF TIME" ON THE WARRANTY, NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. THEY SAID TO LET IT BREAK IN AT LEAST ANOTHER 500 MILES. SO FAR I'VE NOT HAD SMOKE, STARTING OR STALLING PROBLEMS LIKE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. I HAVE BROKEN IN LOTS OF BRAND NEW CARS IN MY LIFETIME, AND NEVER, EVER HAD A BURNING SMELL. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT THE USUAL NONSENSE OF "WE'LL ESCALATE THIS ISSUE WITH YOUR LOCAL DEALER," AND LIKE THE FIESTA, NOTHING. ....UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF THE COMPLAINT HAS SINCE BEEN RESOLVED. THE LOCAL FOR DEALER PERFORMED A THOROUGH CHECK OF THE VEHICLE AND ADJUSTED THE CLIMATE CONTROL. UPDATED 11/17/15. *JB
