Something wrong with the transmission the one that Ford extended warranty on and my car is a 2016 and Ford extended it 10 years and they said it ended a few months ago as well as the TCM replacement I didn't know about because I just purchased the vehicle a little over a year ago.

Fuel pump went out and caused car to stall and leave me stranded on the side of the road when dash indicator showed 23 miles left to travel. I had this fixed through the dealership Drive Time sent me to mechanic shop as was still under dealership warranty.

Went to refuel my car with gas. Got into my car and it didn’t start right away. When it finally did the check engine light came on. I took to go check it out and was told the fuel tank/canister purge valve was faulty. I tried contacting ford to see if under warranty and or recalled. But nothing has come out of it. My 2016 Ford Focus only has 67k miles on it

Kept getting my check engine light is says something about bleed up pressure in the fuel tank which when driving my throttle is not as responsive and when I fill up from Empty I have to give it some gas in. Order to start and would sit at the red light or a stop sign with the clutch pressed in and it would sputter and stall which I would have to give it gas to restart the car

The evap purge valve assembly failed. An engine warning lamp did appear. While driving down the interstate the incorrect fuel mixture caused the vehicle to stall while in motion with my wife, and at the time, [XXX] son were in vehicle. Although there was no accident, all power was lost and the vehicle had to maneuvered into the shoulder to prevent rear ending other vehicles. This was the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The vehicle was called into the Ford recall line, as there has been an open recall on the vehicle model and year. The ford recall line said the vehicle was not affected by the recall, and no recall repairs had been made the vehicle. The ford recall rep recommended to take the vehicle to a ford dealership. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership. The dealership confirmed the issue was the issue seen in previous recalls, but the dealership stated they could see a previous dealership had made the recall repaired (in contrast to the ford recall representative’s statement). So, the vehicle was either not repaired under either of the (2) active recalls (as stated by the ford dealership), or the recall fix to update the software and replace the evap purge valve is not effective, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition to operate. In the Ford 3 cylinder 1.0L Ecoboost engines there is a terrible wet belt system, there is a recall on the automatic models but nothing for the manual models, regardless of the fact that the manual models are designed far more poorly than the automatic models in the sense that the manual models have no tensioners and rely solely on the factory tension of the screws, keeping in mind that the belt is both rubber and sitting in hot oil when in use, if not a money grab, my best guess is that they hoped the wet rubber belt would simply not not stretch in good faith. 4 days after getting basic maintenance, the wet belt failed, clogging the oil pickup causing engine failure, and temporary loss of power steering, after the engine was given time to warm up, luckily the road was nearly empty, and i was driving at a slower pace. However the fact that Ford Motor Company has gone nearly a decade without dealing with the issue, and then denies having knowledge of this design flaw, is absolutely and abundantly absurd. I have all vehicle maintenance records, as well as mechanic testimony, all of which point to this incident being caused by poor engine design. In addition to the estimated cost to replace the engine is 8,500$, or about 140% the cars total value prior to the engine failure. This a NOT a minor issue, this is not even a uncommon fail point on many other manual models, this IS a major safety concern, that god forbit it, could lead to a major accident. I simply think that the Ford Motor Company should be made accountable for cheaping out for profit, at the cost of customer’s safety.

The transistor arm or tensioning arm for the wet belt, which drives the oil pump in the oil pan failed, leading to oil starvation to the engine, causing total catastrophic engine failure, and temporary loss of power steering, while driving, fortunately, I was moving at a slow pace in minimal traffic, however, this is a known fail point in Ford 1.0 L ecoboost 3 cyl engines, that Ford claims my vehicle does not have, and refuses to cover, regardless of the fact that it did happen, and I have pictures in mechanic testimony to prove this to be true, had I’ve been on a different road, or had more traffic, this could have to a fatality. The engine replacement would cost a estimated 4500-7500$

The dual clutch for the 2016 Ford Focus SE. This model is showing an open recall on active listings but not showing up in a search via VIN. Yes the vehicle is still available for inspection. The vehicle’s transmission overheats which has left us stranded, on the interstate and regular roads, maybe times. The vehicle has broken down multiple times in the middle of the road and put us at risk of a collision. I have verified with the dealer that this is a problem with these specific cars but only after I had purchased it. The problem started right away after purchase by showing on the dash that the transmission was overheating but that same message would go back off, resulting in the dealer refusing to take a look at it under warranty. I’ve seen many other customers complain of this problem and eventually end up losing a lot of money because Ford and the dealer will not do anything to fix it. They wouldn’t even look at the vehicle to confirm that this was the problem but instead gave me the 1-800 number for Ford and then Ford told me to take it back up to the dealer who refused to even take a complaint.

The rear view camera does not work most of the time. Hasn't for years. Seems Ford can't make a rear view camera that works, since I see Ford recalling all manner of other vehicles for their rear view camera. They need to do it for the Focus as well.

Was at a red light and the clutch wouldn’t work. I had to pull the clutch up with my foot. I was so afraid someone was going to hit me. Then when you drive the car sometimes the clutch sticks and you can’t put into gear. I looked on the internet to see if other people were having the same problem. There were so many people who had the problem. I called Ford Dealer up to see if a recall . The mechanic said no they haven’t had the problem. I told him to look it up cause there was all kinds of people with the problem. I called Ford up to do a complaint. At that time was told no recalls to have anything fixed on the car. I took it to my mechanic and it was what the internet people had said the problem is. plastic actuator arm to the back of the pedal is made of PLASTIC and is breaking clean off!! My car is in the shop getting fixed. I can send the bill when I pick my vehicle up. Was told anywhere from 850 to 1000.

(UNKNOWN) I am [XXX] and don't know much about cars but I will explain my issue as detailed as I've experienced it. The issue started on or about two days ago, on [XXX]. The car drives and as I'm driving it, it stalls and/or gets stuck momentarily and then begins to drive again as usual. I've been close to being hit from behind and causing an accident because the cars behind me don't expect to stop so suddenly. I've been lucky so far to have not been crashed into. It did the stalling without warning sensors alerting a problem for two days. The car now does show a yellow sensor on the right side of the dashboard which looks to me like a motor of some sort, I'm not sure. Additionally, during these two past days while the car has been having the stall/stop issue... the car does not start as it used to. I put the key in the ignition and turn the key to start the car but it won't start or make any sound as if it's gonna start. I have to turn the key two or three times for the car to start and then it finally does. Since the issue started, I've had the necessity to use the car and have used it about three times but I've not had it checked yet because the weather has been very bad in my area with on and off thunderstorms which makes it not possible for me to drive. I have very poor eyesight, I can barely see from my right eye due to the retina being detached and I don't feel safe driving under these circumstances. Additionally, the car started to make a noise; coming from under the hood the last time I started it which subsided once I drove it. Please advise me of what is best for me to do. I'm [XXX] and I do for myself without help nor do I have relatives near me at the moment to drive myself as I do to get my groceries and meet my doctors appointments and such. Thank you. Driver felt a "slipping" of gear while accelerating.The car then stalled at a stop light. Driver was able to get the car started again and drove it 1 mile up the road to Auto zone. Once the car got to Autozone and diagnostic test was ran, the car threw multiple codes for clutch system failure. The car was towed to ford for a through assessment. Once they got the vehicle started again the engine light came on. Upon being inspected Ford stated the Clutch System was stuck in place. The car was currently frozen in 2nd gear and was having a hard time starting. Ford was able to get the car started but the car would not move out of 2nd gear and was not able to be driven. Recommended service was a full clutch system replacement. Ford has had multiple cars recalled for the same issue but claimed the VIN was not included in the current recall.

I was told that the car I was buying had 83,000 miles on it. When I stepped into the car however, the odometer said that the car had 108,000 miles on it. When I asked for my money back, the used car dealership refused to refund me and told me that they don't do refunds. The name of the dealership that engaged in false advertising is Unlimited Auto Group in Marietta Georgia.

The clutch had to be replaced a second time and the engine became disabled while driving due to parts failure and it blowing up. This is all happening with 60,000 miles on the vehicle. My safety came into question with both failures disabling my car while I was driving on the interstate. The clutch was replaced and paid for out of pocket and I have been trying to work with ford about the engine but they have not helped at all. The issues just popped up and failed immediately while driving. This engine failure issue is covered for my vehicle, but my VIN is not covered. The only explanation I have received is that it is because my car is a manual transmission, which has no link to the part that failed on the engine. I was also notified by the ford service manager that my vehicle was made in the exact location and time frame that the recall covers, but my VIN still is not covered. I have received absolutely no help or solution with my vehicles failure and have been without a vehicle for 9 months because of the large price on replacing an entire engine, right after I had to pay for a very expensive clutch replacement.

2016—2022 Ford EcoSport and Focus 1.0L Engine--- My car is experiencing the same issue as the Automatic transmission. The car is not listed on the Oil Pump Failure Recall on the Ford Website as it shows that it applies to automatic transmission, and doesn't mentioned manual transmission. Both transmission carry the same issue as it's an engine design flaw and not a transmission related issue. The car experienced a bad idle that results to lost of power and Oil light went on as I drove it to the Mechanic shop. Currently there's no parts available and ford website the part is back ordered. The reference number is 23S64 for the current recall of the 1.0L engines. Please see reference below. I've contacted Ford support about the issue and was informed to report the issue here. Check engine light illuminated followed by unresponsive throttle. Pulled over and the car immediately stalled. Would not restart. Came back with code P1450. There's an open recall for that exact code for 2015-2018 focus, however the 1.0L supposedly "not affected" so my vehicle is not eligible.

I was driving the speed limit at 65 MPH down a steep hill, I felt something "drop" and then the oil lamp and "Engine Fault Error" displayed. I was unable to drive faster than 30 mph. I was fortunate that no one was following close behind. I had to put on my hazards and drive half a mile more to find a safe place to pull off the road. I had to have my vehicle towed 60 miles to the nearest mechanic. I was informed that the problem was related to a known recall, but there are no parts to fix the problem and it will be months until they do. My vehicle cannot be driven and is sitting at the dealership until it can be repaired and they cannot tell me when that will be.

After receiving a routine oil change in December 2023, my vehicle began malfunctioning. The oil, engine, and battery lights came on abruptly. I returned to the Valvoline location (approx. 1 mile from my home) and they redid the oil change and noted that there were no signs of a leak and advised that I send the car to get a diagnostic done. My car stalled twice as I was driving it home. I then had the car towed to the dealership I purchased it from (Hyundai owned). They advised that an oil tensioner belt near the engine had shredded and pieces had lodged in the engine. Shortly after, the recall was released. Since then Ford has been zero help. I understand that the parts for the new belt are needed, however I need a new engine now due to their negligence. I've contacted Ford directly on numerous occasions as well as my local dealership and they won't release any information because it is in advance notice. I'm expected to wait until April or May for repairs. That will put me at almost six months or more without a vehicle and no viable options. That is not a timely fix for such a dangerous issue.

My car has been at Ford twice in the last six months and problem still isn't fixed. Complete engine was replaced about a year and a half ago due to recall issue which I don't want happening again. I do not feel safe driving this car. I made an appointment with Ford a month ago for tomorrow for same stalling issue. I went to drop off and explain I wanted the repairs done for the recall to see if that fixed the problem. I filled up my gas tank on Sunday. The car wouldn't start and engine light came on saying engine failure service now. I let it sit for about ten minutes and it hesitantly cranked and engine light went off but accelerates slower with loss of power. It keeps doing this intermittently and sometimes loses power, and struggles when idling. I cut off let sit and then is okay until I pump gas again. I told the service repair person what happened and handed him the key to drop off the vehicle. He said if the light was not on at the time he would not be able to fix it and they couldn't schedule my vehicle for any additional recalls that are greatly needed for the car. It is running terrible. It idles and intermittently loses power while driving. Evan at Ford (Greer) response was to wait until it got bad enough that the engine light came on and stayed on. This was at D&D Ford in Greer, SC. He said it was Ford's policy the light had to be on to replace under recall with no charge. I told him it is unsafe to drive if it gets any worse it could cause an accident. I have two children and his recommendation to wait until it gets worse was appalling. He kept backlashing Ford and stated he doesn't work for Ford he works for D&D and only represents Ford. I said to him he was not representing Ford very well and that it was highly unlikely they would agree with his statements. I asked for documation of this policy--it contradicts what he says.

Also i just replaced transmission without finding any help from ford even there was a recall now my dual clutch is going on and there was a recall i never got to be apart of when i first got the car in 2015. UNKNOWN. I believe this vehicle's engine is also impacted by the recall campaign number 18V735000, even though the engine is a 2.0L L4. The same issues that are mentioned in the recall campaign occurred with this vehicle around the 60k milage and 120k milage mark. These issues seems to happen every 60k miles. I did report this same issue with this system with this vehicle when this happened when the milage hit around 60k. The engine check light did show up each time this happened and the vehicle would stall immediately, even while driving at interstate speeds of around 70mph.

My ford focus had experienced a clutch slipping and is stuck in 2 gear. The car also had antifreeze leak during this event. This occurred on January 31,2023. My Ford dealership is quoted a $3,240 repair cost for clutch system on an automatic transmission. Ford case number CXH01481389.

Have tried repeatedly to get the CPV recall performed however all dealerships or authorized repair locations have been giving me multi month waits since it started showing the alarm code for it in Dec. 2021. Due to it being the only vehicle my family has we were out in a wait list to bring it in when they had the parts and never got called back. Now the Transaxle is not engaging 4/5/6th gear intermittently. Was informed that it would be 3K for a new transaxle even though I have not had the vehicle for that long.

While driving my car started skipping from first to second gear and then lowering acceleration. When at a complete stop car would not accelerate and just revs through first and second gear making a pinging clicking sound. Brought to dealership to be told codes p0702 and code p0734 were reading. I've had the car one year and has been maintained. Before I got the diagnosis I drove to the dealership there was no lights on even though there was the issue and then right as I pulled in the transmission light check came on. This problem has been confirmed by Ford dealership from transmission and engine diagnostic. Not being able to accelerate at a green light put my safety at risk.

My clutch and or transmission is malfunctioning. When I drive up hill the car shudders and I lose power, it's a risk when another vehicle or pedestrian is behind me. When I accelerate from a full stop, same symptoms. If in an emergency I have to move I would be at risk because then the vehicle would hesitate. The issue was confirmed with the manufacturer's dealership service center. No warning lamps, no messages just a sudden appearance of the symptoms that were progressively getting worse. I looked up two separate customer satisfaction programs which I believe I should be eligible but bought the vehicle after their expiration and even though I think the vehicle satisfies the programs' terms, the manufacturer did not include my vehicle's vin.

Check engine light P1450 fuel system vacuum. So many complaints of the same issue of the vehicle stalling and shuddering. The dealership refuses to even look at my vehicle. This is a serious safety concern. Someone needs to intervene because there are too many of us now driving dangerous vehicles because their parts don’t work properly and the dealerships are telling us there’s nothing they can do. UNACCEPTABLE Additionally, my clutch assembly WAS recalled but the dealership must have reported my vehicle fixed because the recall is no longer showing up. THIS IS FALSE! They NEVER FIXED IT! It has never actually been fixed even though I have taken it in easily 10 times.

I believe the power train and some component with the fuel system. Yes it is available for inspection. The car shut off in the middle of traffic. This has happened multiple times. It has not been confirmed by a dealership or service center. The vehicle has been inspected. No warning lamps or messages.

When driving my car all of a sudden it loses power almost like it’s struggling to go but the RPM revs up and makes a loud noise and my car kind of got stuck for a minute and there were cars behind me then it started going but every couple minutes it would do that again rev up really loud even when I barely push the gas and lose power and then go I have no idea why it was doing that I took it to get it looked at, but there was no light on then a light finally came on and it came up with P07A3. Transmission friction element A stuck on. It starts end doing that with no notice. Light came on later after I tried to get it scanned. There seems to be extended warranty satisfaction things offered on vehicles at the same time mine was made. Same vehicle. But my number is not on the vin recall. But it exhibits same symptoms. The ford customer satisfaction program 14m02 covers same issues but my vin is not listed. This is a driving hazard unsafe that I feel is issues from their manufacturing.

My vehicle started having issues with the transmission, like shifting issues while starting to accelerate , not going into gear while I am accelerating as well as going in and out of gear in current speed levels with the flow of traffic. It would go from a drive engagement to neutral and would cause me to be in dangerous situations while having passengers in my car as well as my children. I do Lyft an Uber as a current profession, and the last 10 rides that I have given people have been put in positions of compromise or danger due to the shifting issues. After googling issues online, I discovered my Transmission has had various online complaints of Same danger issues. I had 2 Mechanics also verify the issues as well. I contacted ford customer service and they have denied any issues or any recalls attached to my vin. After speaking with ford they said my vehicle was made after the cut off. My transmission DPS6 is the same model that was given extended warranty or repair or Replacement. The documents I found state that the DPS6 automatic transmission was covered under these manufacture dates: August 1, 2010 through November 5, 2015. After speaking with the Ford customer service agent she had mentioned that my car was built December 23, 2015. Which includes the same transmission as stated previously. The program where I found this information is on your website specifically. Program 14M02. Please add all transmissions affected by this situation to the timeline of the warranty extension. My vehicle would fall within the warranty extension of what is listed on the form below of up to 10 years and 150,000 miles considering it is only nine years old with 125,000 miles. Due to it being the same exact transmission, I feel that it is very unfair that it was not included in the extension of this warranty coverage. The car is shuddering on acceleration. RPM currently rises and falls in an unnatural manner. Loss of power and gas mileage. This appears to be the same issue that other 2016 ford focuses are covered by.

This is my second time reporting this the first time I reported this the person I talked to on the phone inaccurately put what I said and didn’t put what I said. I was on my way back home from a little road trip and I had approached a stop sign and had come to a full stop. When It was safe I took off and my car stuttered and had loss of power and became jerky, started to buck and would have delay and sudden burst of acceleration and it felt like the transmission was slipping. And the message transmission fault service now and my check engine light came on. I proceeded to pull over and let my car sit for a bit and turned off and on my car and the warming message went away. When I started driving again my car continued to have the same issues as well as reving high and not speeding up then randomly shifting and suddenly accelerating

So ive bee battling the same tcm issues out of my 2016 ford focus. I have othing now. My car will no longer go into gear at all. So i have spent upwards of 8 to 9 grand over last two years trying tomfix this. This vehicle per customee satifaction progrm in the parameters of 2011 to 2017 ford Focus/Fiesta w/dps6 transmission having tcm issues. To my understsndig this should be replced and reprogrammed one time regardless of the milage. But my VIN doesnt register that my vehiicle is elegible for this recall or program. Please i need help. I am out of options. No vehicle, lost my job bedcause of this and my apartment.

The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle began to experience loss of speed, the contact would depress the accelerator and the vehicle hesitated and jerked. The contact heard a grinding metal sound coming the floorboards. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to an auto parts store where the failure was diagnosed as the "transmission friction element A frozen in the on position." The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutches needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed that the Transmission Control Module (TCM) needed to be replaced. The contact purchased a non-OEM TCM and the vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred and the contact purchased another non-OEM TCM which was re-installed. The failure reoccurred and the vehicle was returned to the same dealer and had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

While attempting to change front brake pads, I couldn't get any of my sockets, of which I have multiple sets of both SAE and Metric, none would fit the lug nuts. After talking with a Ford dealership parts department, I was informed that the lug nuts swell and beating a socket onto the lug nuts was the only way to get them off the vehicle. This is unacceptable, and it was lucky that I wasn't trying to change a tire in the middle of the night. I immediately bought after-market lug nuts to replace them on the vehicle at a cost well over $100. This is unacceptable.

This is a lug nut-related complaint regarding the swelling and distorting of your tire factory installed lug nuts. I was not able to be remove lugnuts with the cars provided lug wrench. I was left stranded in a parking lot with a flat tire and had to drive the car with the flat tire to a local Firestone dealer, to have them remove and replace the damaged tire because I couldn't remove the tire after several attempts. an hour later I had several people try and help, It was a nightmare with my 90 year old mother. I should contact a lawyer, this is very unsafe if stranded on the highway. Ford needs to recall and replace all lug nuts. ASAP!

ONLINE, IT STATES THAT MODEL YEARS 2012-2016 FORD FOCUS VEHICLES HAVE THIS ISSUE. THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION IS CONSIDERED A MANUAL TRANSMISSION THAT IS CONTROLLED ELECTRONICALLY BY A COMPUTER WHILE USING A DRY CLUTCH RATHER THAN A WET ONE, MEANING OIL IS NOT SUPPLIED TO THE SHIFTING MECHANISM AND CAN RESULT IN INCREASED WEAR AND TEAR THE LONGER THE ISSUE PERSISTS. WHEN THE COMPUTER MODULE THAT OPERATES THE TRANSMISSION CAN'T HANDLE RAPID ACCELERATION OR SPEED SHIFTING, THE VEHICLE WILL SPUTTER AND MAKE AN AUDIBLE NOISE. OTHER ISSUES THAT CAN BE CAUSED ARE PROBLEMS WITH DOWNSHIFTING, LEAVING THE VEHICLE IN A HIGHER GEAR DESPITE DECELERATION AND CAUSE IT TO "LURCH". I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an ongoing mechanical issue with my 2016 Ford Focus. Although my vehicle currently shows zero active recalls, I have experienced a recurring and concerning problem. Each time I turn on the air conditioning and the air begins to blow cold, my engine temperature rises significantly and causes the vehicle to overheat. This issue occurs consistently and makes it unsafe to operate the vehicle while using the air conditioning. Overheating poses a serious safety risk and may lead to engine damage or sudden breakdowns. Given that this problem appears to be directly connected to the operation of the air conditioning system, I am concerned that this may be a known defect or design issue that has not been addressed through a recall. I am requesting that this issue be formally documented, investigated, and addressed. I would appreciate guidance on next steps, including inspection, repair options, or whether this issue has been reported by other 2016 Ford Focus owners. 2016 FORD FOCUS VIN: 1FADP3F20GL341128 Mileage: 64,750 Hello I am having problems with my 2016 Ford Focus. The vehicle is shuddering, moving forward, problems in shifting, vibrating and Ford cannot do anything about this as they have told me that you have not added this model on the recall. I got the vehicle checked over by Ford and they said it is the same issues as the other Ford Focus and Fiesta have and they said they need to replace the clutch and TCM. However this would be charable to me because you have not added this model in the recall. At the Sound Dealership in Renton WA there was 3 cars with the same issue and one being the same fuel flex model as mine. Is this something you could check as Ford will not help me at all. Thank you

I was driving the car other all of a sudden died on me and told me to put it in park I put it in park and then turned the key off and tried to restart it. It did not restart and would not turn of kept popping up a warning saying starter system failure. Could not turn my wheel or pit it in neutral to get it out of te middle of the road.

[XXX] daughter was driving her car on I87 in Albany NY when oil pressure light went on and car speed dropped from 65 to less than 30 while in middle lane of interstate forcing her to cross over lanes onto shoulder roadway and exit ramp where it lost all power. Have learned that the oil belt system failed without any warning or notice causing incident. Have since learned that vehicle motor has been damaged beyond repair and needs replacement. Contact with 4 separate representatives of FORD Customer Service has resulted in FORD denying our requests for assistance to replace the motor. Car is a 2016 Ford Focus SE with the 1.0 liter motor with 81,000 miles. Well maintained with records as needed. Transmission Fault Service Now warning light keeps coming on and off. I’ve taken it to multiple places to have it checked out and nobody can find and actual issues that would cause the transmission to fail. I got stuck in the middle of an intersection because the transmission randomly stopped. I’ve had to have it towed.

In the last 6 months my car has been to Rottet Ford in Tamaqua. My car Failed to start after driven had towed to dealer, replaced TCM, paid $200. 2nd time car system shut off everything and engine while driving. Started after hour, dealer replaced TCM paid $200 3rd time car failed to start after driven, even within 24hours from leaving dealership being fixed, waiting to see WHY. But assuming TCM again. Ford customer experience specialist [XXX] ext [XXX] [XXX] Recall on 2016 ford focus, but not her VIN. All 3repairs were the TCM (transmission control module) Ford customer service told me to report this and ask it be added to recall list. Bought brand new off stevens creek ford frontier, after just 45,000 miles it showed serious transmission issues. At first it would stall and pop up a transmission overheat warning and it would jolt when just trying to step on gas lightly. I brought it in to the dealer service and they said it needed a new clutch and once I got it back it doesn’t start unless I have it in neutral and doesn’t backup. The car is extremely unsafe and stalls on the freeway in front of other cars

2016 Ford Focus with 53,000 miles, driven less than 150 miles per week on average just getting back and forth to work and running errands. Check engine light came on on November 2, 2023. I got a P0344 code from my mechanic who is 5 minutes away from when the check engine light came on. He advised me not to drive the vehicle until he could get my car in on November 7. When I started the car to take it to the mechanic on the evening of November 6 for him to look at the next day, the oil light came on. It was a 5 minute drive from my home to the auto shop. He immediately said Oh, Oh, that's the bad oil light not the low oil light. I have routinely kept up with the recommended maintenance schedule and the car was last serviced on June 7, 2023 with no problems. I was told on the morning of November 7 after he had looked at the car that the engine was shot and the car would need a brand new engine. One of the employees at the shop is a former employee of a Ford dealership and was not at all surprised as he began running down a list of all the times that he had seen this problem. "It always happens right after the warranty expires' were his exact words. I now have to wait for a new engine, which is on back order for up to 2-3 months, which is an indication of how rampant this problem is with this Ford engine, and I will have to figure out how I'm going to get to work as we head into the winter months. One of the last things that the mechanic said to me before I signed the $5400 work order, was how lucky I was that the car didn't die on the road leaving me stranded. I can only attribute that to the short distances that I drive. Please do something for those of us that purchased this vehicle in good faith and are now being told that there is nothing that Ford can do for us because the warranty is expired.

HAD A FEW INCIDENTS WHERE IF YOU FORGET TO HIT THE SHUT OFF BUTTON TO THE ECOBOOST THAT WILL SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF DURING A STOP LIGHT/TRAFFIC STOP TO SAVE GAS, IT WOULD COMPLETELY STALL THE ENGINE OUT WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. ONLY HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF THIS,OF COURSE I'VE ALWAYS CHOSE TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO SAVE THE STARTER. BUT THEN RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, THE ENGINE STARTED TO LEAK COOLANT MAKING ONE THINK IT WAS A BLOWN GASKET BY THE WHITE SMOKE. AS I RESEARCHED I'VE FOUND FORUMS THAT STATED THAT IT WAS COMMON. BUT ONLY THE RS SERIES HAD A RECALL AND NOT THE STANDARD. BUT IF IT'S THE SAME COMPONENTS THEN WHY AM I TOLD ONLY THE RS SHOULD HAVE THE RECALL? BUT ANYWAYS MY ENGINE IS UNREPAIRABLE, CAUSE AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR IT DID THE SAME THING. The contact stated that after fueling the vehicle, the vehicle consumed three quarts of fuel within 20-30 miles. The contact stated while his girlfriend’s daughter was driving 65 MPH, she either drove over a pothole or a rock on the roadway and the vehicle started jerking. The driver veered to the side of the roadway to inspect the vehicle and noticed damage to the front driver’s side bumper that was detached from the subframe. The contact stated that the hood release hinges on the driver’s and passenger’s side of the vehicle fractured causing the hood to inadvertently, smashing into the windshield shattering the windshield. The driver called the contact to the scene for assistance. The contact was able to secure the hood with bungee cords for the driver to drive the vehicle to the residence. The car failed to start, it did not recognize it was in park. After trying to start my car with the keys it failed. My safety is put at risk, my car failing to recognize which gear shift it is in causes malfunctions while I am on the road, especially since I drive long distances at high speeds. I had a Master Technician review and preform a diagnostic on my vehicle and the codes formed for this test matched hand in hand with TCM issues under the TSB. After this, I went to the dealership to discuss this issue and the only thing that came of it was informing me that I was not eligible for a recall due to my VIN, even if I have all the symptoms under the TSB for my Ford Focus 2016. Since my car failed to start I was not able to bring it to Ford and have it tested, especially after asking if it is eligible and they insisted that it was not. No warning signs from the dashboard appeared on my vehicle to inform me of this issue. I travelled to meet with family and did not end up using my vehicle for a few days and when I tried to start my car, it would not engage. The only warning sounds I would consider a correlation before the problem would be a clicking from the starter pre-firing when I opened the door, and while the car was off.

I’m having a very difficult time with ford dealership there is a lot of information about this 2016 ford focus automatic transmission that has problems with either its dry clutch or the tcm transmission control module. It is revving high when you stop it doesn’t shift gears properly it jerks hard it won’t go into higher gears it will start reversing out of no were that’s a very very terrifying situation especially that me and my fiancé have a little boy in this vehicle. We were so happy to buy this vehicle and ended up having huge problems for only having 100k miles on the odometer. This is are only vehicle spent are taxes on this vehicle to get us around for a few years go on vacations all that. To call ford and be told basically if this vehicle wasn’t involved in the lawsuit against ford about this certain situation then it wouldn’t be included in the recall. I think I should file a lawsuit against ford for this why would they have on the web that every 2016 ford focus has a recall for the tcm transmission control module one time free replacement until June 2025 it says. I want something done this is not right and illegal. Organization at its finest.

The transmission slips and jerks at 4000 rpm's from acceleration and transmission does not go into reverse sometimes and over heats after 2 minutes of driving. It's available to be looked at. The car would not accelerate in the middle of driving on the highway. Just revs over 5000 rpm's. I took it to a transmission shop and they said it was the clutch which was going to be $3,000 to fix. My husband and my children have to experience the whiplash it gives you from the hard shifting. Also have to push it backward in neutral just to go anywhere because it has no reverse most of the time. There is a warning message on the dash that says transmission overheating wait 5 minutes and the check engine light is always on. They first appeared at 87,000 miles and it is horrible on gas I need to pay 20 dollars every 2 days just to go to work and back which I'm only work 15 minutes away. I have called my dealer no call back. I have called ford no call back. I even called the warranty place cause they sent me a notice and they said to call my dealer but they never called back

Yes, I was on my way to school and as I pulled out into the first busy road along my way my car hesitated, jerked and was very erratic and eventually died completely, all power lost. I just barely missed being hit by another vehicle and somehow I made it within the Double suicide lane. I was extremely terrified because I don’t know anything about vehicles and this is my first car so I called my mother. And from there she had it towed and repaired. And then due to further research I stumbled across where my car might fall within a recall that has something to do with a component on my transmission. This Effect has put my mother out $4000 for a faulty transmission component sold by Ford. I would love for her to be reimbursed for that. Thank you.

2016 Ford Focus, VIN: [XXX] Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Control Module (TCM) This complaint details a recurring and severe safety defect in our 2016 Ford Focus. The vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM) has failed twice, resulting in sudden, complete loss of power and dangerous stalling incidents at highway speeds. In January 2023, at approximately 8,000 miles, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion while traveling on a highway. We were forced to execute a dangerous emergency maneuver across lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. A Ford dealership diagnosed a failed TCM which had, in turn, caused the clutch to burn out. In July 2025, after only 7,000 additional miles (total vehicle mileage ~15,000), the identical, catastrophic failure occurred again. The vehicle once more stalled without warning on a major highway, creating another life-threatening situation. The diagnostic codes confirmed the same TCM and clutch failure, proving the issue is a persistent, underlying defect and not a random occurrence. This failure is entirely consistent with the widely-documented defect in Ford's Powershift (DPS6) transmission. This problem has been the subject of multiple national class-action lawsuits and is detailed in thousands of other consumer complaints filed. The repeated failure in our low-mileage vehicle underscores that this is a predictable and systemic design flaw that makes the vehicle inherently unsafe. We attempted to address this critical safety failure directly with Ford Motor Company. Our concerns were met with dismissal, and despite being issued a case number, Ford has failed to respond to our calls registered letter. This vehicle is unsafe to operate. We are filing this complaint to implore the NHTSA to launch a formal investigation into this defect. The repeated, sudden loss of power presents an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death to occupants and other motorists. We believe a mandatory recall is urgently required. I am experiencing two significant issues with my 2016 Ford Focus, both of which closely match known recall problems documented for this model and year. However, my vehicle’s VIN does not currently show an active recall, and Ford has not covered the repairs. Canister Purge Valve (Error Code P1450): The canister purge valve in my vehicle is malfunctioning, leading to rough idling, poor fuel economy, and difficulties starting the engine. This issue also triggered the check engine light. My research shows that similar problems were included in a Ford recall for the 2016 Ford Focus, where a defective purge valve could cause stalling and inaccurate fuel readings. Despite these similarities, my VIN is not covered under this recall. Transmission Control Module (TCM) Issues: My vehicle also has transmission performance problems linked to the Transmission Control Module (TCM), causing hard shifting, irregular transmission behavior, and occasional failure to engage properly. The TCM issues are well-documented among 2016 Ford Focus vehicles, some of which were included in recalls and extended warranty programs, but my vehicle is excluded from this coverage. Given that these issues directly impact the vehicle's drivability and safety, I am requesting an investigation into why vehicles with similar symptoms are not covered by these recalls. PURCHASED VEHICLE IN AUG 2018. VEHICLE HAS STALL ON ME 4 TIMES SINCE I HAD IT ALSO, WENT TO THE FORD HOMESTEAD DEALER FOR RECALL ISSUES BUT CAR SEEM TO STILL STALL. ENDED UP TAKING THE VEHICLE ON 05/17/19 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND DIAGNOSTIC DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEP BOYS AND WAS THERE ALL WEEKEND. EARLIER IN JANUARY, I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 70 FROM KANSAS CITY TO ST. LOUIS AT THE RATE OF 77 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR DINGS AND SENDS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH "ENGINE FAILURE" AND THE CAR LITERALLY SHUTS DOWN. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR, NO LIGHTS, NO BRAKES, NOTHING! LUCKILY I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY OFF. STILL NOTHING... I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THANKFULLY IT STARTED. I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST PLACE TO HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTHING CAME UP. FINALLY GOT IT HOME. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the steering wheel locked inadvertently. The message "Transmission Failure" was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned on the hazard lights. The contact stated that the vehicle continuously lost and regained electrical power independently. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the transmission was malfunctioning, and the contact was referred to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the TCM was replaced. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under Ford Campaign Number: 19N08. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 97,069.

THE DEALER FOUND THE FOLLOWING CODES U1013:00:68 & U0101:00:68 REPLACED THE TCM ALL CODES WERE CLEARED. THEY ROAD TESTED IT TO VERIFY IT WAS FINE. A WEEK LATER THIS ALL HAPPENED AGAIN, EXCEPT I WAS STOPPED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, IT WOULD NOT START A NEW MESSAGE IGNITION FAILURE CAME ON. Vehicle hesitates, stutters and stalls when accelerating at any speed. The dealership told us it is either a transmission module or fuel module problem. They don’t have parts to fix it. There’s been a recall and a lawsuit about this same year, make and model, but they tell us our Vin is not included in any of this. it continues to do this to this day. The dealership wants us to drop it off and leave it for 3 to 4 weeks. We can’t be without a car so we are struggling with it. We wrote Ford Motor Company a letter and they told us to contact you. The lawsuit that they lost, gave us an extended warranty, but they refuse to honor it.

My car has become hard to start after I fill up with gas. It also randomly loses all power. While driving everything in the car stops. It displays a message that says transmission is not in park, like I turned the key off but I did not. After this it won't start and displays a message on the dash that says "system start up fault". If I wait a few minutes it starts again . This has happened 3 times. I had a mechanic pull any codes. The only code is for a gasket in the evap system. The mechanic told me that Ford had a recall for this problem so I had the car towed to a Ford service center. The Ford dealer told me that my car is not included in the recall. I looked up Ford recalls and my car exhibits all of the problems described in the recall.

The transmission started failing in 2020 and part of it was repaired on a recall and part we had to pay out of pocket. The entire steering rack failed in July of 2022 requiring replacement. Reports suggest this is a known issue yet Ford offered nothing. Now the transmission is slipping and failing again less than two years since being repaired by Ford. This is a critical safety issue and they can't diagnose the car for 4-6 weeks and are offering no rental assistance for a known factory defect. These cars are dangerous and the fact that Ford won't do anything to jump on the problem when it happens means more liability for the drivers of these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking noise coming from the engine. The engine lost oil pressure. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle was slow to respond, and the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the tensioner arm was fractured, and the fuel pump was not providing power to the engine. My 2016 Ford Focus SE is stalling at higher temperatures while driving at high speeds, which is very dangerous. This issue occurs primarily during hotter daily temperatures. I have previously taken the vehicle in for the recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000) related to the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) malfunction, which was supposed to address excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system. However, this did not resolve the stalling issue. This has stalled my car out at interstate highway speeds (75 MPH) which makes me lose power steering and acceleration and has nearly ended in accidents numerous of times due to this.

Electrical power steering goes in and out and the dash displays “steering assist fault” warning, and the power steering goes out entirely. You can still turn, but it takes a lot more physical effort to do so. Since it goes in and out, it can happen at any time and is very hard to get diagnosed through a diagnostic if the mechanic or dealer cannot replicate the issue.

Car turned off while driving three times. Once when put in park it locked on a busy road. Replaced fuse to battery, still turned off while driving. Lights stay on and its a pretty new battery so thats nit the issue, when turning the key there is no noise, no clicking or grinding. Main issue is the fact it turns off while driving and the fact it locks up when put in park. That's helpful to no one. Windows can't be rolled up either which meant being trapped guarding a vehicle in 92 degree weather. Anti theft is literally so dumb and in annoying. Great thought, terrible in practice. Am currently waiting on tow truck. Open invention on what caused this now.

My car idles up high often and the car will speed up on it's own. When at a complete stop it struggles to stay on. Sometimes it will cut off. It has shut off while driving as well. It jerks when taking off from a complete stop. After putting gas in the car it will not start immediately. I have to pump the gas pedal for a few seconds. It eventually starts. At Autozone I had a code test ran on it and it suggested EVAP system needed replacing. So, I took it to have it fixed. Precision Tune ran an additional test on my car, but there were no errors. They even checked for any recalls or repair issues posted online, but my car was not listed. They suggested I call the manufacturer. It still does it. I can also hear a scrubbing sound while backing up, but my brake pads are good. The brake light continues to pop on saying I need brake fluid. I had that checked and I do not need brake fluid. The engine light stays on. I get my car tuned on a regular basis. I've only had it for a soon to be year in June 2021. Also, there are times when the gas fumes are strong inside of the car while driving. I want to go on trips but i'm afraid it will shut off in the middle of the interstate.

The speakers are making a LOUD POPPING AND CRACKING. This is now happening with the radio turned off, and no Bluetooth connected to it. It even sometimes does it when the car is completely turned off. This sounds to me like an electrical issue for one. For two, this is an extreme safety issue, especially when I am driving. The last time it happened, it sounded like gunshots going off that that’s how loud it was, when my car was turned off completely, and now I am suffering from extreme tinnitus. Next time this could actually explode my eardrums. I have heard this to be an issue for multiple of these vehicles yet there has not been a recall on whatever may be causing this?! THIS IS AN EXTREME HEALTH/AUDITORY/NEUROLOGICAL SAFETY ISSUE.

I have been having problems with ford focus for a long time. I have been told that this is normal. Recently, I had my car fixed by ford. Soon after, I was having problems with car slow start, hesitation and studdering. This is the same problems I was having before. I was told by Ford dealership that it was not the transmission. They told me that it was a crack engine head and purge valve problem. I paid for the fix even though I felt like it should have been covered in a recall. The car is not fix. I have completed 2 surveys with Ford. The department of transportation should investigate ford for its ford focuses.

You cannot see anything behind you using it. There were over 700,000 newer Ford vehicles recalled with the same issues. There are no warning lights.

Engine light came on while driving (1/14/2022), drove to a local auto parts store to check the code. Came back with code P1450: Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum. This is the first instance of this issue in this particular vehicle to my knowledge. While I am fortunate to have avoided safety issues so far, Ford has issued a recall for similar models because "the excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash" (Ford recall #18S32, NHTSA Campaign #18V735000). My vehicle is not included in the current recall, but should be due to the similar issue and therefore a similar safety concern.

CANISTER PURGE VALVE, ENGINE STALL RECALL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE SINCE I RECIEVED THE CAR FEBUARY 2017. THE ISSUES WAS WHEN I WOULD STEP ON THE GAS TO DRIVE, IT WOULD STALL SLOWLY THE SPEED FROM ITS ORIGINAL SPEED AND CAN FEEL A PULL AND PUSH FROM THE CAR TRYING TO SPEED UP EVEN WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL; THE CAR MOVES SLOW, ITS LIKE ITS TRYING TO GO UP A HILL WITH EFFORT BUT TIRELESS WHEN ITS NOT EVEN GOING UP A HILL. ITS MAKES A LOUD CLANK NOISE WHEN IT TRIES TO SPEED UP. IT DOESNT FEEL SMOOTH WHEN DRIVING. I HAD CALL THE MANUFACTURER FORD SINCE JANUARY 2019. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road, and then towed to a certified mechanic. The contact believed that the mechanic had diagnosed a failure within the transmission and had completed a repair to the transmission; however, the contact was unaware of what parts were replaced. The contact stated that after the vehicle was repaired, the vehicle started hesitating and there was an abnormal revving noise coming from the engine compartment while accelerating. The contact would depress the accelerator a second time to accelerate as intended. The failure was intermittent. The message that the engine was overheating was illuminated. All of the lugs nut have swelled likely due to rust under the chrome caps and we can not get the lug wrench provided with the car onto any of the lugs nuts. A properly sized 19mm 4 way lug wrench would not fit either. This prevents us from being able to change a flat tire which could leave us stranded during my commute or on a vacation and left in an unsafe situation on the side.of the highway. This also prevents routine maintenance such as brake wear inspections and tire rotations from being completed. The car has not been taken to a dealer or service center since the issue was noticed but they would also have the same issue and would need to hammer a socket over the lug nut with excessive force. The car has a bad wheel bearing that needs to be replaced but can't since we can not remove the tire.

The coolant/antifreeze tank melts upon the returning coolant/antifreeze where the return line meets the tank due to the high temperature of the coolant/antifreeze and causes the coolant/antifreeze to spill onto the engine. This led to a high engine temperature increase warning and immediately made the vehicle to stall to prevent overheating of the engine. I already replaced the old tank with a new one. Also, the rear passenger seat belt began to fray and it makes it almost impossible to buckle up.

•Oil pump failed to send oil to the engine causing the brakes to go out. While trying to pull out into traffic, the engine made a pop sound, and lost the ability to accelerate. Engine and oil light turned on, was then unable to accelerate past 20mph and engine sounded horrible. • Our mechanic looked at the car and said the oil vacuum pump was obliterated inside the engine. He replaced the vacuum pump and said that the timing belt is inside the engine which is causing all the issues. • No warning lamps or messages appeared before this. Had just had an oil change a month before and there were no issues.

The car worked fine in the first couple months and slowly declined. The rpm will shoot up and down causing the car to jerk and not able to surpass certain speeds. It works sometimes, so when going to work in the freeway it was fine then it started acting up again, causing other cars to almost crash into me. I had to drive with hazards and luckily i was able to safely pull to the side. Instances like this occur a lot more now because the car doesn’t act normal anymore. I took it to a mechanic and it was a gear issue and a module error. I had asked how i was to fix it, and they said only main dealerships can fix a module board. It’s making my transmission overheat and now my steering wheel is stuck and won’t move.

New clutch failing after 20000 miles about 1.5 years after factory change. Car shutters when trying to change gear. Dealership has been able to reproduce issue but doesn't want to cover it. Transmission randomly goes into neutral when driving on highway at speed. This has caused issues with maintaining control as engine power is not going to propel car while surrounded by other vehicles on highway. Dealer has not reproduced issue. Driver side door when ambient air temperature exceed 85 or 90 degrees, door not easily opened. Occurred for dealership personnel too. In none of these instances, warning lights appeared. My safety and others is at risk if the clutches fail prematurely, transmission randomly goes into neutral while in Drive at speed around others on the highway, and if the driver door is sticking closed when temperatures get hot. Car is available for inspection.

While driving on the highway my 2016 ford focus stalled without warning and would not start until after having it towed. When I go to the gas station after filling the gas tank my vehicle is either hard to start or doesn't start until after waiting a while. This happens often. My check engine light stays on and it smells like gas from the outside. The front-end apron of my vehicle has recently fallen off without warning and for no reason. I took my vehicle to San Tan Ford in Gilbert, Arizona where I purchased my 2016 Ford Focus in May of 2016. The technicians' diagnosis was engine light ml on 2pcm code p1450 p0507 fuel tank leaking replace leaking fuel tank and recommend new fuel pump possible damaged from excessive vacuum applied to tank code p1450 replace canister purge valve for code p1450 stuck open & retest. Dealership and Ford Motor Company is refusing to do repairs stating that my VIN number does not have any recalls and refused to check my front-end apron joints for recall 17S03 although my front-end apron has unattached for no reason. the technician also included that the front-end motor mount is collapsed and recommend replacing mount. Water Pump Replacement inspection found leaking recommend replacing water pump. Also, the degas bottle cracked and leaking coolant and Damaged from excessive Vacuum applied to tank The Canister Purge Valve malfunction causing excessive vacuum in the vapor management system. Stuck canister purge valves cause it to stall. If the CPV is replaced, dealers should inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. Bearing failed as the result of a sudden overload caused by vibration or imbalance compounded by rapid engine acceleration. This overloads the bearing generating a great deal of heat. Amplified through rapid acceleration and high RPM operation.

I got my 2016 Ford Focus in the summer of 2019 and from the start i had issues. The first issue was my car overheating the coolant tank kept getting a hole burned in it and the coolant would leak leaving my car to overheat I've had the tank replaced twice. The second issue was my car just kept turning off still don't know what that was about. Third issue was the vehicle not telling me the correct amount of gas i had it would say i would have a good amount of gas, but it really had little to no gas. The last issue was the Transmisson the car was stalling and gave me kick back that's the only way i can describe it I took it to my mechanic because there was no recall when i looked up my VIN, I paid almost $4000 for the transmission to be fixed to just bring it back to the mechanic because the transmission started giving me problems again. My mechanic told me that Hes having problems figuring out the programming. Today 12/08/2022 I read an article talking about how thousands of Ford Focus owners are having the same issue. I was never contacted by Ford. I called my local ford dealership, and they told me the part that my vehicle needs are on back order and they can't even look at my car until February.

Ford dealership did not inspected the parts associated for safety recall 18S32 in February 2019 and noted that our vehicle is not part of the recall. Engine light when on June 2021 related to safety recall 18S32 but Ford will not fix it.

OCTOBER 29, 2018- I RECEIVED A MASS EMAIL REMINDER FROM AUTO CITY TO CHECK IF THERE ARE ANY KNOWN RECALLS UNDER MY CAR. DECEMBER 2018- I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD VIA SNAIL MAIL AND CALLED A FORD DEALER TO SUBMIT A TICKET. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALL AND WILL BE NOTIFIED ONCE AVAILABLE. NO RESPONSE BACK REGARDING THE ISSUE TILL THIS DAY. DTC DESCRIPTION: P219A- AIR/FUEL RATIO IMBALANCE -I WAS REFERRED TO AUTOCITY TO GET IT FIX UNDER WARRANTY DECEMBER 9, 2019- I REACHED OUT TO AUTOCITY VIA EMAIL AND TELLING THEM MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN USING MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS. DECEMBER 19, 2019- I GOT AN APPOINTMENT WITH AUTOCITY AND GOT A RESOLUTION UNDER THEIR WARRANTY: PORTFOLIO SERVICE WARRANTY WHICH LEFT ME TO PAY $100 COPAY. FORD FOCUS PURCHASED NEW FOR OUR DAUGHTER IN 2016. WE ALL NOTICED A STUTTER OR JERKING MOTION UPON ACCELERATION AND ODD FEELING WHEN IT SHIFTED GEARS. . THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. THIS CARS IS ESSENTIALLY ALL MY DAUGHTERS. I ADVISED HER AS WELL AS CALLING MYSELF TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO TAKE IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR TIRE ROTATION. SHE ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE MANY TIMES,NO EVERY TIME SHE TOOK IT UP THERE. SHE WAS ALWAYS TOLD IT WAS "NORMAL" AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SO WE TRUSTED THEM THAT FOR SOME ODD REASON THIS IS NORMAL. JAN 2020. SHE WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER VERY BADLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT BEGAN TO STOP IN THE ROAD LIKE SHE WAS BREAKING . SHE DESCRIBED IT AS THE CAR WAS JUST BREAKING ON ITS OWN TYPE FEELING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. SHE BROUGHT IT SLOWLY TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE.APPARENTLY IT IS AN TRANSMISSION ISSUE. A WELL KNOWN ONE! I WILL PROVIDE THE SERVICE RECORD IN THIS FOR YOU TO SEE WHAT WAS REPLACED THE NUMBERS AND CODES ETC . IT WAS AT THE SHOP JAN 10-13TH . WELL THEY DID REPLACE SOME PARTS IT WAS STILL DOING THE JERKING STUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER THE REPAIRS. AGAIN SHE ASSUMED THAT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MANY TIMES AND WE THOUGHT MAYBE THE ACTUAL PROBLEM SHE HAD WAS FIXED. IT WAS NOT. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WILL NEVER BE FIXED FROM WHAT I AM LEARNING TODAY IN REGARDS TO THIS 2016 FOCUS IN THE NEWS . I AM REACHING OUT FOR SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO ALL OF US. IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY OF US CAN NOT SEEM TO GET OUR VEHICLES FIXED AT LEAST IF THEY CAN NOT FIX THEM TAKE THEM BACK! FOR THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, MY TRANSMISSION IN MY 2016 FORD FOCUS HAS STALLED UPON NEARLY ALL ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. ON JANUARY, 17 2020 I RETURNED TO MY CAR FROM THE LIBRARY IN IRVINE, CA TO DISCOVER THAT UPON TURNING THE IGNITION, THE CAR DID NOT START. I TRIED A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT ON ONE TIME AND STOPPED, THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD LIT UP, THE MEDIA SCREEN LIT UP AND THE INTERIOR CAR LIGHTS CAME ON. I CALLED AAA, MY INSURANCE CARRIER, DESPITE IT NOT APPEARING TO BE A BATTERY ISSUE. THE REPRESENTATIVE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH ME AFTER I EXPLAINED THE ISSUE AND TRIED TO SCHEDULE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I TRIED THE IGNITION ONE MORE TIME AND THE CAR STARTED. A NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH SCREEN APPEARED READING "TRANSMISSION SERVICE REQUIRED" AND REMAINED ON THE SCREEN FOR A SECOND BEFORE DISAPPEARING. USUALLY IF A DASH NOTIFICATION APPEARS, THE SMALL ICON LIGHT WILL REMAIN LIT WHILE I OPERATE THE VEHICLE, THIS ICON LIGHT DID NOT REMAIN ON. MY INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED THAT AN ISSUE WITH A TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED A TOW AND IT MAY BE UNSAFE TO OPERATE MY VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. I SAT IN MY CAR FOR A MINUTE AND NOTICED MY AVERAGE MPG HAD CHANGED FROM 33.3 TO 0.0. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AS I NEEDED TO LEAVE THE LOCATION TO TEND TO OTHER PARTS OF MY DAY. I ARRIVED SAFELY TO MY DESTINATION. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE EXACT SAME SITUATION OCCURRED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR AND LEAVE FOR THE DAY. TURNING THE IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES DID NOT WORK, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON ONCE, THE TRANSMISSION NOTICE APPEARED AND DISAPPEARED AND THE AVERAGE MPG WAS AT 0.0 AGAIN. HWY 17 IS A 60 MPH, TWO LANE HIGHWAY SURROUNDED BY FARMLAND. WHILE DRIVING ON THAT HIGHWAY, I MANEUVERED TO PASS A SEMI-TRUCK THAT WAS TRAVELLING AT 50MPH. IT SMELLED LIKE HOW YOU USE THE HEATER FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING COLD WEATHER. I CHECKED THE GAUGES TO MAKE SURE I WAS NOT OVER HEATING. I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS POP ON AND MY TEMP GAUGE WAS NORMAL. I THAN STARTED SEEING SMOKE COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE HOOD. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GOT OUT. THE ENTIRE CAR UNDER NEATH WAS ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY GOT AWAY FROM THE CAR AND WAITED FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE TO COME.

MOST RECENTLY THREE WEEKS AFTER SERVICING FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. ON THIS MOST RECENT OCCASION, SUNDAY, MARCH 31ST., I STOPPED TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO PARK AND BEGIN TO MOVE THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. THERE ARE CLASS ACTION SUITS OVER THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH RECALLS FOR THE FOCUS. FORD DEALERS CHAPMAN FORD, HORSHAM AND HOFFMAN FORD, HARRISBURG, PA, ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THE FORD FOCUS 2016 CLUTCH THAT IS SLIPPING (ABOUT 48,000 MILES) WITH THEIR REASON BEING THAT THE CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE. THE CAR WAS IN A MINOR ACCIDENT THAT ONLY AFFECTED THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE TRANSMISSION, AND ANY DEALER CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT ALL THE TRANSMISSION AND SURROUNDING AREAS ARE NOT DAMAGED AND ARE ORIGINAL FORD PARTS. IT WAS REALLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF BODY WORK ON THE OPPOSING SIDE. IF A CLUTCH 'BLOWS UP', THE DRIVER CAN HAVE SERIOUS LEG DAMAGE, AND ALSO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CRASH POSSIBILITY. SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT AFFECTED AT ALL IN THE BRANDED TITLE, FORD SHOULD REPAIR IT FOR FREE. THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH ISSUES ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND SINCE FORD HAS QUIT MAKING THE FOCUS, IT IS EVIDENT THAT FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE CREATED THE CLUTCH ISSUE. THIS AND THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL ARE VERY DANGEROUS.YOU WOULD NOT WANT YOUR DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIRED THIS WEEK. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION THEY KNOWINGLY CREATED. THE BRANDED TITLE HAS NOTHING TO DO AT ALL WITH THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. EVEN THE DEALERS HAVE ADMITTED THAT.
