I have 2017 Ford Focus that is experiencing transmission issues related to the DPS6 Powershift transmission and TCM recall but my VIN number is [XXX] was not included. I am experiencing issues with the car shifting into 1st and 2nd gears, it will revv up at a stop but not accelerate immediately. I have been to a mechanic multiple times and had the lower actuator replaced, new radiator fan installed, clutches scrubbed, and TCM reprogrammed. Multiple mechanics have recommended replacing the transmission as a solution. I called my local ford dealership who denied to service my vehicle under any recall or warranty, I spoke with a manufacturer representative who also told me that Ford is unwilling to do anything for my vehicle. Bought this car last June of this year and ever since then. First gear will buck sometime and second gear too. After I gotten to thrird gear it goes away. My local Tires Plus says that's with all Ford focus'es he think I'm crazy but I have let a friend drive it when I there and he says the same thing as me. It bucks..

Transmission is overheating is the warning I keep getting on the dashboard read out. The transmission is shifting very hard and you can hear it grinding and winding up when it is trying to shift. I had the car put on a computer at a shop and the codes were reading that the clutch was not releasing and he tried to reset it and it kept failing. I googled my car and saw that this is a known problem with them and that Ford hasn't acknowledged the problem yet.

Transmission actuator A and actuator B making the Transmission not able to shift. Happened after new battery installed and was told it could have been a surge sent to Transmission control module breaking the actuators.

After recall Campaign 23S64 and the engine being replaced with G1FG-6006-DA and traceability Code [XXX] . Incident Description On Saturday [XXX], while driving on the freeway, my vehicle began sputtering and lost power. The RPMs increased but the speed did not. The check engine light illuminated briefly and then went out. This created an Immediate serious safety hazard to me my passenger and other drivers on the road as I was unable to maintain speed in traffic and had to leave the freeway Immediately. Diagnostic Findings •Initial AutoZone OBD-II scan revealed P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire). •Dealer’s own diagnostic later reported P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire), with carbon tracking on all spark plugs and ignition coil boots. •Dealer noted the locking tab on Cylinder 3 ignition coil connector was broken, requiring a new pigtail. •Dealer also identified a broken front motor mount, but is attempting to charge me for replacement despite the fact that the mount must be removed and reinstalled during an engine swap. I purchased this vehicle 4 days ago. On the second day I noticed a shutter when accelerating, going uphill and often continuous. I have been told that it is the clutch. I am aware that the same issue on the 2017 focus has been recalled. I do not understand why it is just certain vehicles. Especially, since it is the same year and issue as the recalled ones. I am a police officer that has had some health issues with my heart. My parents gave me the money to buy this car. They do not have the money to repair it and neither do I. I called two Ford dealerships as well as the Ford manufacturer. Nobody was willing to help. I discovered that this is the place to file a complaint all on my own. Please try and help me.

dual clutch on automatic transmission failure purchase vehicle in 2017 and has had to be replaced 4 times and it is going on its 5th time While driving the vehicle slowed down, check engine came on and off then I lost power completely. I had to pull to side of busy hwy on way home from work. When tried to turn back on again it jerked on and off. I had to figure out how to make it home. The dealership McRee Ford has replaced the clutch on various occasions. No signs prior until the day of when the check engine light flashed on and off.

Clutch needs to be replaced at 77,000 miles. This is a related issue with Ford Focus vehicles’ transmission. I was never told that the transmissions were an issue when I purchased this vehicle. I took it to ford and they said it’s wear and tear instead of addressing the issue that the transmission is bad. They wanted $4000 for repairs. I paid $17k cash for this car. The car does not switch gears and makes grinding noises when driving or coming to a stop.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Received recall notice 24N07 from Ford in December 2024, stating that we should get the canister purge valve replaced if the vehicle ever displayed any of the listed symptoms. The vehicle started displaying symptoms in April 2025. Brought the vehicle to Kruse Motors, Ford Service dealership in Marshall, MN. They replaced the canister purge valve. Shortly after this, the vehicle was still displaying symptoms of running out of gas, even though the gauge said it had 3/4 tank still. Continued to drive it for a few months, but continued to get worse and the car almost died a couple of times while driving at highway speeds. This could have caused an accident because the engine was stalling while still in gear, causing the vehicle to suddenly jerk and decrease speed rapidly. Brought the vehicle back to Kruse Motors, Ford Service dealership and they found that the fuel tank was collapsing. The technician stated that this was most likely caused by the canister purge valve malfunction that was part of the recall. Because of this, they submitted a request to Ford to replace the tank and any necessary parts and labor as a result of this damage. Ford responded saying that they will not cover this as it is not part of the recall. I appealed to Ford customer service explaining that the damage was caused by the recall but they still refused to do anything about it. The dealership gave me a quote for $2600 to repair the issue. Ford has created an unsafe situation by not replacing the necessary parts caused by the malfunctioning canister purge system.

I am the owner of a 2017 Ford Focus vehicle. Recently, I have encountered multiple occurrences of stalling while driving on the highway. In two of these instances, I was in the process of passing a semi-truck and fortunately had no other vehicle behind me, or my safety and that of others may have been put at great risk. After the first incident, the check engine light appeared and was addressed by a mechanic who believed it was likely the result of a vapor lock. The issue later reoccurred and left me stranded on the interstate in a rural location where I had to wait for several hours before being transported to a nearby hotel. The vehicle started again the following morning, and I was able to finish the trip. After conducting some research, I discovered two separate recalls (identified by the NHTSA Campaign IDs 18V735000 and 19V515000) that had been issued for cars of this model and encompassing the year of my vehicle’s construction. The malfunction, as issued by a mechanic, fit the exact specifications of the recall; that is, malfunction of the canister purge valve, causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management systems, that can result in an engine stall while driving and without warning. I was surprised to learn that my vehicle’s VIN was not associated with any such recall; however, I was informed by my mechanic that a software update (18s32) had occurred on June 6, 2019, possibly removing association of the recall statement with my vehicle’s VIN. I am unsure at this time of the extent of damage to the carbon canister, fuel tank, and fuel delivery module. The only issue visible from the exterior is a slight depression of the fuel tank caused by excessive vacuum. The canister purge valve was replaced on September 10, at a cost of $270.03. Due to the nature of the incident and its exact resemblance of the recall issued, I would like to seek compensation for the replacement of the defective purge valve and further inspection of the carbon canister, fuel tank, a

After filling up the car with gasoline, the car would not start. Once the car started, after several tries, it was shifted into drive. The car would not move, the pedals were all locked up. You could not push on the brake, gas, none of the pedals would work. The car is available to be looked at. It has been looked at by an independent mechanic who determined there was excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system. The check engine light is on, returning the EVAP code. My [XXX] daughter was stranded at night alone with a car that wouldn't start. This issue has happened multiple times. There is a recall in place for the 2017 ford focus that covers this exact issue, but excludes my car. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My rear view camera only works about 15% of the time. I get a little dust on it and it's useless. You recalled a bunch of older Ford models today but not on my vehicle despite it being the exact same camera as on the fusion model. My check engine light came on. I stopped at Auto Zone and had the check engine light read. The code came back as P1450 (Canister Purge Valve). Upon checking the Ford Website to run my VIN for recalls, nothing came back for my vehicle. I checked NHTSA and learned there have been 6 recalls, and 2 of those 6 seem to fit the issue I am having. My 2017 ford focus engine has failed because of the oil system parts in the safety recall 23S64. While I was driving I got the hazard notification and a red oil notification shortly before the engine failed. No accident was caused but the car no longer runs. This happened back in February of this year and it has been 4 months since then. I have lost my job because of no longer being able to drive. I’m living below my means due to having no vehicle. When I have called them they refuse to give me a rental and only tell me that I need to wait. I need a car for work and they have offered no assistance.

Catastrophic engine failure, engine died and was unable to shift into gear My 16 year old daughter was driving on a busy highway when the engine died, causing her to stop completely on a 55 MPH road. She was unable to get the car into a gear to have it pushed to the side of the road and had to sit in the car with traffic flying by her until we could get a tow truck (approximately 30 minutes). She was unable to get out due to the traffic being so heavy. The vehicle had a limited warranty left on it, and it was towed to a facility where they diagnosed with blown head gasket and/or cracked cylinder head. It was towed to a dealership where it was discovered the car had an active recall that caused the engine failure. There was no warning signs previously.

I was headed back home for thanksgiving, traveling down I20 from Birmingham to Anniston AL, when the oil light suddenly came on, then 2 minutes later a "default Engine-service now" warning appeared. The car immediately started making a loud rattling noise, sputtered and stopped accelerating. I almost got rear-ended and was terrified! I managed to exit the interstate and pulled into a gas station. Checked oil levels, which were fine. Got back on I20 and drove slowly (with hazard lights flashing) back to previous exit, where there was an express oil change. They could not identify the exact problem, but mechanic speculated it was the oil pump since he just fixed another ford vehicle with the same issue. I had my car towed back to Pep Boys in [XXX] (where I live). After inspecting my vehicle, I was informed that the oil pump had completely malfunctioned. The whole thing, including belts and tensioner had to be replaced. I'm still waiting to find out if any further damage was caused to the engine. So far, the bill is up to $4000 and I have been without a vehicle for 6 days. I would like to note that I completed regular oil changes and maintenance on this vehicle. Upon searching online, I have seen many other reports of this same issue on Ford Focus models, yet there has been no recall or action taken by ford and no action taken by the NHTSA. My vehicle has had some trouble turning over recently and my check engine light came on shortly after. I ran a diagnostic and was given the code P1450 and who's symptoms were in line with what my car has experienced. I see that there was a recall for other 2012-2018 Ford Focuses with identical problems with my car also having a 2.0 liter GDI engine and was manufactured in the Michigan Ford plant prior to February 2 2018 (the Ford employee I spoke to confirmed that my Focus was built in January of 2017). My car has yet to stall or fail to turn over completely but the problem is becoming more frequent and I believe that my vehicle is one that should have been part of the recall as I'm experiencing identical problems and my vehicle meets the criteria for other vehicles that were part of the recall.

This regards my 2017 Ford Focus. The car is 6 years old, I am still making payments on it, has a little over 50,000 miles on it, has been maintained by Ford every year since I bought it, and the transmission and extended warranty had just expired about 2 months ago. A few weeks ago, I'm driving down the freeway around 1pm Pacific, traveling about 60mph when the engine seemed to 'seize up', the engine light came ON, the car jerked several times creating a severely dangerous driving hazard as I tried to keep it under control. It slowly began losing speed, so I made my way off the freeway and made my way to the Ford dealer who had been maintaining the car. It felt like the car was going to stall any minute so I'm lucky I got to the dealer. It took them a few days to get back to me, and they then told me the entire engine and 'boost system' needed to be replaced at a cost of approx. $7,000 (probably just to get another defective engine). They tried to work with Ford to get some financial assistance since this is obviously a defective car, but Ford refused. The dealer suggested I call Ford, so I did, and spoke with a rep and a supervisor on May 22, told them their car was defective and my life had been put in danger, and they both told me they wouldn't help in any way. As I write this, the dealer has ordered parts and am awaiting repairs. I will have been without a car for 3 weeks, paying for Lyft and borrowing cars to get to work. I understand there's a class action lawsuit (Barnes et al vs Ford, US District Court of Delaware Case 1:22-cv-00823). Ford should buy my car back.

The vehicle shakes, stalls shuts off when filling up with gas. Once gas is added, you have to keep the feet on the gas (reveing up to ensure it starts), then drive to get the gas flowing into the engine. The vehicle was taken for diagnostic with an Auto Zone and a mechanic and the codes pulled (more than once) was...P1450 and P2196. This was brought to the attention of dealer at time of purchase and requested another vehicle. They ensured it could be fixed; after another yr. or more now the codes are appearing again. I have dates for repair, but will have to get copies of work completed from the dealer.

2017 Ford Focus with only 6400 miles on it - Power steering without warning turned off, and the dash displayed a "Power Steering Assist Failure - Service Required" message. The steering was difficult to manage. Was in the neighborhood when this happened, so was able to get the vehicle back to the driveway however, if this occurred in an intersection, freeway, etc risk of an accident would have been high. Rpm going to high and irregular shifting .This happened after I replaced the part for the 24n07 campaign
Jan 31, 2025
Yes it is available for inspection if you choose to do so. Roughly a month ago my transmission shifted into neutral while trying to merge onto the interstate. It bucked around and eventually caught the right gear, and the problem persisted the next 15 miles to my destination, as well as the 15 miles home. I couldn't afford to take it to the shop, so I didn't drive it for a couple weeks. I then had some responsibilities to take care of, and the car was so much worse this time. Trying to accelerate from 0mph was hit or miss, and any time I went over 10 mph it would shift back and forth from neutral to a lower gear than it should have for the speed I was going, then back to neutral. It loses power or shifts into neutral driving down the interstate sometimes, or going up hills. I almost slid down a hill backwards the other day because I was in neutral (even tho my gear shift was in Drive). Sometimes when trying to stop, the car lunges forward while my foot is on the brake. It felt like I was driving a standard again - not safe at all. My check engine light has been on for a month or two due to an O2 sensor issue, but otherwise I had no warning lights displayed. I had a mechanic hook up a code reader a few days ago and the code that popped up is P07A3. I have yet to take it in for repairs, as I cannot afford to pay thousands of dollars for Ford's intentional manufacture of faulty machinery. I still owe $11,000 on this car, there is no way I can afford to buy another one, or to fix this piece of junk. Happy 2024.

I pulled out of my brothers driveway as I pulled out the car failed to go over 10mph and started to lurch back and forth. I almost got in an accident because of this. There was a car coming down the road and they had to swerve to miss me because I couldn’t get the car to go over 10. I promptly pulled the car over after that. The car also would go into reverse but would not move. I had the car towed to a local Ford dealer because I did not feel it was safe to drive. There were no warning lights on the car at the time of the incident. The check engine light did come on later though. The dealership said the TCM had failed and would need to be replaced but I would need to wait for the part because it’s on national factory back order. After waiting 4 months and calling Ford to complain multiple times the part finally came in. They installed the part and told me it did not fix the issue and I would need a replacement transmission. The car has not been fixed, failure date was at 87,300 miles. The car is no longer safe to drive and costs way too much for me to fix.
Apr 02, 2023
Car was at highway speed and was given light input to change lanes. With light input, the engine accelerated in an uncontrolled manner, revving to maybe 5000 rpm. The driver had to slam on the brakes to counteract. Result was a rear-end collision with the car in front (Route 95 near Laurel, MD). For what it is worth, the car also gave an "overheating" alarm for the Powershift DCT transmission even though no such alarm had ever appeared previously. So first time alarm on the transmission and the following day this incident with the unintended acceleration. These could be unrelated, but could also be related. With the overheating transmission issue, the car was left sit for 10 minutes and then drove normally. Car also drove normally after the accident. No further abnormal acceleration issues.

My mother, [XXX], purchased this car in 2017 with only 2 miles on it. Shortly after purchasing it, the steering went out. She had it repaired. Then the clutch on the transmission went out. She had to fight with dealership and Ford to get it replaced. Since this, we have had to have six clutches put in. We have also had to have another steering column put in and two purge valves. The car is now back in the shop having the seventh clutch put in. We have contacted Ford several times asking them to do a buyback and they refuse. My mom is a retired 72 year disabled vet and has to have reliable transportation due to her health. Please assist her in getting this issue resolved. Car lost power in the middle of the road, pulled over and it seemed fine when I checked it but as I drove off again the engine fault light came on and it started overheating and said to pull over immediately to not damage the engine. I was recently in an accident where at a speed of approximately 50 mph I rear ended someone who was stopped on the highway. At this time my airbags did not deploy, which I believe to be a manufacturing failure. I hit my head on the steering wheel and since the accident have been experiencing major neck and back pain, for which I am seeing a chiropractor. I believe that I should be granted compensation for the physical, emotional, and financial burdens that this total loss accident has put me under.

At 31,500 miles, the Ford dealer said the lug nuts were swollen and had to be replaced, because the wheels would not be safe to drive. No warning lights of signals prior to this problem.
Dec 08, 2022
Ford owners have been plagued with the issue of poorly designed lug nuts that expand with age. My service center just informed me that most or all of my lug nuts need to be replaced, so I have authorized that to complete the service. I have read that the problem is caused partly because of improper tightening. When I purchased my Ford in 2018(a one year leftover) the Ford dealer had to resurface the rotors twice because of pulsation. I've since had oil changes done at another Ford dealer that supposedly included tire rotation, so it seems that Ford could be at fault for bad lug nuts and reinstalling them as well. I think that a recall is justified. What is odd is that this issue has been around for quite some time, but they are still selling the same part. How is that?
Aug 05, 2022
Lug nuts are expanding and the two different metals are seperating. This is a saftey issue. It was brought to my attention by Discount Tire when I was having my tires rotated.

Swollen lug nuts and had to pay $120 to replace them. The lug nuts were defected from Ford.
Jan 01, 2022
I got a flat tire and the lug nuts were swollen. I was stranded on the side of the road and had to leave the car in traffic on the shoulder. We had to wait a full day to get the proper tool (a special lug nut wrench) to remove the wheel. The wrench that came with the car and the one I had at home would not fit over the swollen lug nuts.

GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK WHEN MOVING FORWARD. I HAVE TO GET UNDERNEATH THE PEDAL AND RETURN IT BACK TO NEUTRAL SPOT WITH MY TOES. ENGINE JERKS WHEN FUEL GETS TO 1/4 TANK. ONCE AFTER A TRIP TO THE GROCERY STORE, GAS PEDAL STAYED STUCK AFTER PLACING IT IN PARK. RPM'S WERE ABOVE 2000. *TR
May 15, 2020
I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO GO FORWARD, THE RPMS JUST IDLED AS THE ENGINE REVVED BUT I COULDN'T DRIVE FORWARD, THEN THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD, AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. AFTER IT JUMPED FORWARD IT BEGAN MAKING A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND LOST CONTROL, ALMOST DRIVING STRAIGHT INTO ANOTHER CAR. I THEN PROCEEDED TO PULL OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, THEN IT MADE THESE LOUD CLICKING NOISES AND THE EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION LIGHT FLASHED RED AND SAID 'TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, STOP AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE.' I LEFT THE CAR SIT FOR 2 AM HOUR, THEN WENT TO TURN IT ON AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT ONLY MADE THE TICKING NOISE AGAIN. AFTER TRYING TO START IT 3 TIMES, IT FINALLY TURNED ON, BUT CONTINUED TO GET STUCK AS THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT AS I LEFT MY HOUSE AND GOT ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS ON THE INCLINED ON-RAMP EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. ONCOMING TRAFFIC SWERVED AROUND MY IMMOBILE CAR AS I PANICKED AND FLOORED THE GAS PETAL. IT FINALLY LUNGED FORWARD, SECONDS BEFORE A SEMI CAME BARRELING THROUGH THE LANE. I GOT IT TO THE DEALER AS IT FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING LIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL EACH TIME. THE CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN SERVICED 4 TIMES PRIOR TO THIS, FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND MULTIPLE RECALLS. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED, IT GOT WORSE. WHEN I FINALLY PICKED IT UP, I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT HOME BECAUSE IT BROKE DOWN HALF A MILE AWAY. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEARLY KILLED ME. THEY PRINTED ME THE PAPERS STATING THE CLUTCH, ACTUATORS A & B, THE T/O BEARING, AND ANOTHER PART NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL COST ME $1800. IN OTHER WORDS, I HAVE TO PAY THEM JUST SO I DON'T DIE IN FORDS FAULTY CAR
Mar 17, 2020
A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE (IN A JERKING, FORWARD AND BACK MOTION), AND STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD MAKE THIS NOISE, LIKE GEARS GRINDING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. FOR ABOUT A WEEK, IT WAS FINE. THEN IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. IT WILL JERK BACK AND FORTH WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP (AT A STOPLIGHT FOR EXAMPLE). RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN LOSING GAS VERY QUICKLY BECAUSE IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY PAST 4RPMS JUST TO GET FROM 0-20MPH. I'M NOT SURE IF THE WARRANTY IS STILL ON IT, BUT IT ONLY HAS 12,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ONLY MADE ONE VERY BIG TRIP WITH IT, TO KANSAS AND BACK TO VIRGINIA. IT DOES THIS OFF AND ON EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE ANYWHERE FROM 25 MINUTES TO AN HOUR FOR WORK, SO THIS IS REALLY NOT CONVENIENT TO HAVE. MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS WORRIED IT WOULD BREAK DOWN AS I STRUGGLED TO KEEP IT FROM OVERDOING ITSELF WHILE ACCELERATING. A FEW TIMES, I COULD SMELL SOMETHING LIKE EXHAUST IN THE VENTS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS AND HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE, EVEN AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND HAVING THEM TELL ME IT WAS "FIXED."
Feb 03, 2020
I HAVE A 2017 FOCUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION THATS SLUGGISH/SLIPPING. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND AT 13,000 I ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR A CLICKING/STALLING/SLIPPING. WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN AND EXPLAINED THE REASON ITS LIKE THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. HAD TO WAIT ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE PART GOT CHANGED. NOW AT 15,000 THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH BEFORE SWITCHING GEARS. IT SLUGGISH WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. EVEN WHEN NEEDING THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA POWER GOING UP A HILL, IT BOGS DOWN AND I HAVE TO MOVE OVER IN LANES MAKE SURE NO ONE BEHIND ME GETS STUCK. I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT TAKING MY CAR BACK IN AGAIN BEFORE MY 30,000 MILE WARRANTY HITS TO TRY AND GET IT REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNRELIABLE AND NOT EFFECTIVE. I WISH I DIDNT BUY THIS CAR AND WENT WITH A NISSAN OR TOYOTA. BUT IM STUCK WITH THIS UNRELIABLE CAR.

I was on my way home from work when my oil light came on and I began losing acceleration on a busy highway. It wouldn't let me go above 20 mph which was definitely unsafe due to the nature of traffic on the highway. I managed to pull over and get my car towed to the most recent place I had an oil change. After a few days, they stated that the vehicle had sustained a loss of engine oil pressure and that there was a recall for this issue. They also stated to contact Ford and that the vehicle was undriveable. When I checked the open recalls, I confirmed that there was indeed a recall open for this issue concerning the oil pump, however, Ford Motors state that they will not have the parts available until 1st Quarter 2025. This is puts the timeframe on a remedy at roughly 3-7 months, which is unacceptable as this is my only vehicle and the only way I am able to get to work.

The recall that Ford has out on Focus’s between 2012-2018 is exactly the problems my 2017 ford focus is having, where it stalls constantly and won’t turn on after. I’ve tried filing with only premium gas, keeping my tank full and it is still happening. I’ve had my vehicle towed multiple times. I’ve had the canister purge valve replaced and am still having issues.

2017 Ford Focus; CNP valve issues; previous Safety Recall 19S22 was issued in 2019. The dealership where car was purchased performed recall; deformation of tank in Nov 2019. The 2017 Ford Focus never really idled very well even after recall was performed by dealership in 2019, as well as; increased RPM and sluggish at acceleration. Then early June 2023 fuel gauge was reading 44 miles to empty; so stopped to fill gas tank. Turned car off completely had keys in pocket; immediately after filling the gas tank the Ford Focus would not start; eventually able to start vehicle by continuous attempts and then finally punching the gas pedal once car was started kept car running for at least 40 minutes. Performed OBD scan shortly after which gave error code PO456. Recall 19S22 clearly states that a OBD scan of PO456 could very well be a CNP valve issue. Contacted dealership and made appt for 6/20/2023; at which time the dealership stated that recall has already been performed for the 2017 Ford Focus in Nov 2019. Contacted Ford Motor Company; who then stated that they are aware of the CNP issue but since there is no current recall that they are not liable and to contact NHTSA.

11/23/21 With 1/2 tank of gas and auto start/stop engaged vehicle died while stopped at traffic light. Filled tank at station on corner of said traffic light. Car started rough after refueling. Drove 1/4 mile, car died again at traffic light. Drove about one mile, car died while stopped at light. Went another 1/4 mile, stopped at light car died. Each time the battery and other usual icons lit up on dashboard so it was not the auto stop. Disengaged the auto start/stop and car did not die the rest of the way home. This is the second separate stalling issue in less than a week. The code P1450, unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum / purge valve canister was diagnosed. Car to be repaired on 11/29/21. This is a recall for Ford with 2.0 engines but not 1.0 engines. As this is the exact fuel issue in recalls and nothing to do with engine this should be covered in the recall.

Ever since purchasing this vehicle 2nd hand, it has had "Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low" and "Lost Communication with Fuel Pump Control Module" intermittently. Attempted to fix with a mechanic, had fuel control module replaced. It occurred again, so had fuel pump replaced. It still randomly stalls out, leaving us in danger on the roadway. Pulling into traffic can be dangerous, since a stall-out would guarantee a collision with on-coming traffic. Engine light stays on when it stalls, eventually will start again, and light disappears. This has been an ongoing problem over the last 2 years. Vehicle can only be used for local driving in the event of being stranded, sometimes on a monthly basis. Recently now, the Transmission Control Module has stopped working and needs to be replaced (as of 3/6/23). Mechanic says these parts are on backorder for 1+ years.

MY CAR HAS A HARD TIME SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY AND MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. IT ALSO FALLS OUT OF PARK A LOT WHEN ON AN INCLINE AND STARTS TO ROLL BACKWARD. I NEARLY HIT A CAR BEHIND ME BECAUSE OF THIS AND THE INCLINE WASN'T STEEP. I FOUND OUT THAT THE 2016 MODELS HAD THE SAME ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE DSP6 TRANSMISSION. I ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE EVAP CANISTER NOW WHICH IS CAUSING MY CAR FUEL EMISSION ISSUES AND PERFORMANCE.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 40-45 MPH with the cruise control engaged and making a turn, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact applied the brake pedal for 30 minutes. The contact called the local dealer and was informed there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact then called Crain Ford of Little Rock (4601 Colonel Glenn Plaza Dr, Little Rock, AR 72210, (501) 436-0341) however, the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact researched the failure and stated that when she placed her foot underneath the accelerator pedal it stopped the vehicle from accelerating. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 23,054. Consumer stated battery corroded and has been replaced.*JB

1. CAR WILL MAINTAIN SPEED/RPM AFTER YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. 2. CAR WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHEN YOUR DRIVING AND YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. 3. CAR WILL ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. 4. RPM WILL INCREASE WHEN AT A STOP, THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU FROM MOVING IS KEEPING YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL OR PARK. ISSUES STARTED SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAS CONTINUED AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SAME ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SO EACH TIME WE ARE TOLD THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING' AS DESIGNED.'

PURCHASED CAR NEW FROM DEALERSHIP. AT 14,500 MILES (APPROX.) GOING DOWN FREEWAY CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF AND WOULD NOT IDLE DOWN. WHEN IN PARK, RPM'S WERE BETWEEN 3000 AND 4000 AND REMAINED THAT WAY. PARKED CAR AT DEALERSHIP, WHEN THEY CHECKED IT, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. RECEIVED CAR BACK AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL 29015 MILES AND SAME THING HAPPENED. GOING DOWN FREEWAY, THE CAR ACCELERATED UP TO 85 MPH ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT IDLE DOWN. WHEN IN PARK, RPM'S WERE BETWEEN 3000 AND 4000 AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. EXITED FREEWAY NEVER PUTTING MY FOOT ON GAS PEDDLE. WAS GOING DOWN 5 LANE HWY. AT 55 MPH WITH FOOT ON BRAKE CONSTANTLY. PULLED INTO PARKING LOT A POLICEMAN WAS STANDING THERE. I ASKED HIM TO COME OVER TO LOOK AT ISSUE. HE THOUGHT MY FOOT WAS ON GAS. I THEN OPENED MY DOOR AND HUNG MY FEET OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. HIS STATEMENT WAS "'THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS''. I TOOK VIDEO SHOWING RPM'S AT 3500 AND SPEED ODOMETER AT ZERO. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, DROPPED OFF FOR WEEKEND. WHEN THEY CHECKED THE CAR ON MONDAY MORNING THEY COULD AGAIN NOT DUPLICATE IT. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR FIVE DAYS, NUMEROUS PEOPLE DRIVING THE CAR BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT. THEY TELL ME IF THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE VIDEO. I LOVE THE CAR BUT I TAKE MY LIFE IN MY HANDS WHEN I DRIVE IT AND I STILL OWE QUITE A BIT OF MONEY ON IT. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE...PLEASE HELP!

I bought my car in early 2022 or 2023 and almost immediately the car started shuddering when accelerating. I took the vehicle in to the place I bought it from and one other Ford Dealer. Neither places could "duplicate the problem." Bith times I had to pay money just to have it looked at, and nothing was ever fixed. My horn keeps quitting and the shuddering has gotten so bad and now there are new issues like loss of power when accelerating. This car is starting to become a safety issue for me as I live in Washington State and the traffic here is very fast. I have almost been hit due to trying to pull out or merge and the car loses power or winds way out. I am a [XXX] who can't afford automotive bills. They will only give me $2700.00 as a trade in and I owe $12,000. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Driving 75mph down the frontage road. The car just stopped. No warning no lights just a violent stop. If there were cars behind us or we were on the highway we could be dead right now!! It stopped no lights took us 2 hrs to get the car home with a no service area. It was clicking in the engine. After it was parked for hrs. This is the second time in 7 months this car has had a serious manufacturer problem! It is unsafe and I will never drive it again!!! Bad for having only 63,000 miles on it!! I got it with 52,000 miles and it broke down instantly with a transmission problem. Was in the shop for 4 months and now this. Dangerous

Driving on 2 lane, car suddenly went dead at 60 mph . Able to get off road. Cranked back up. Checked for code and fuel tank had vacuum lock. Checked with ford. There is a recall on that but not my vin number. Took to Ford garage x4 paid eval. Fee of $159 twice to diagnose. No success. They replace fuel door and clutch total bills approx $500. Last failed attempt to fix the problem revealed more trouble... back end was swerving and jerking.. felt out of control. Somehow when the clutch wS changed out the rear shocks and front struts were busted. And No I didn't take it back after that. Why does mt car show recall code is problem yet vin not covered and garage tries to fix everything but the recall prob and makes everything worse. I do not have the money to throw into these "fixes" I an disabled on tight budget. This is a problem that began on the assembly line at time vehicle was manufactured. I bought I n good faith and ended up with a lemon.

USER HAD A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS BEFORE HEADING HOME. SHORTLY AFTER, USER STARTED THE CAR AND IT STALLED. USER DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT. USER SHUT IT DOWN AND TURNED KEY TO THE "ON" POSITION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CAR TURNED OVER AND WORKED. SHORTLY AFTER, USER WAS DRIVING CAR DOWN THE ROAD TOWARDS HIS HOUSE AND THE ENGINE STALLED. SYSTEMS AND ELECTRONICS SCREEN WERE ON, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE GLITCHED AND NOTHING REALLY WORKED, THE CAR TORQUE STEERED THE USER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. USER HAD TO USE E-BRAKE TO PROPERLY SLOW DOWN AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURN KEY ALL THE WAY OFF INTO THE "OFF" POSITION. USER WAITED 5 MINUTES TO ENSURE ALL SYSTEMS WERE SHUT DOWN, AND STARTED CAR BACK UP AGAIN TO SAFELY DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. USER HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WILL IMMEDIATELY HAVE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT VEHICLE.

I started driving and the car seemed to act rough. I went up a small hill and I had almost no power halfway up. The car showed the symbol of the little car that looks like it is sliding. I had to chug up the rest of the hill fighting the car itself because there was no where else to go. It kept revving but went no more than about ten mph. Once I got over the top I pulled into someone's driveway so I could get back home. I was unable to reverse. The car just revved. I had to turn off the car, put it in neutral, and push the car backwards out of the driveway. I was able to start the car and nurse it home, but it jumped and revved the entire time. I tried to use down hills to my advantage and barely paused at stop signs for fear of getting stuck on the road. I got to my house and parked. Now the car only starts when it wants to. I checked codes and got P287A for the clutch. I haven't called Ford for service options yet because I really don't know what to do and have no idea how I'd get there. I think this car should have been included in the powertrain recall because this came out of nowhere.

I went to pull into traffic and when I pushed on the gas to hurry it just did a jumping stuttering type of thing. I almost got hit, it’s like it just doesn’t want to engage right away and I don’t know if it’s the clutch or transmission. Hills are also an issue, just jerks and jumps trying to go into a gear. I was told this car would not have the same problem as the previous years but I am very upset and lucky I didn’t get killed. Thank you my number is [XXX]. WHEN POWERTRAIN IS WARM AND VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND, VEHICLE SHUDDERING AND VIBRATION, AND RESULTING ENGINE HESITATION AS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. OCCASIONALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55-65 MPH) THERE IS A NOTICEABLE VIBRATION AND SHUDDERING AS THE VEHICLE MOVES INTO AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE GEARS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT TO ME TWICE WITH CONCERN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE SERVICE TECH SAYS THEY ARE WAITING FOR FORD TO RECALL THE FAULTY COMPONENTS, AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT.

MY FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK IS A AUTOMATIC AND CAN SHIFT INTO SUPER AUTO/MANUAL ARE AVAILABLE. MY VEHICLE STAGGERS, SHUTTERS, AND SHAKES ONCE IN DRIVE MODE. MY VEHICLE ALSO ROLLS BACKWARDS WHEN ON A INCLINE IF I DO NOT PRESS THE BREAK PEDAL, AND IF I DO NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL OR TOUCH THE BREAKS IT WILL LOSE MOMENTUM AND BEGIN TO ROLL BACKWARDS IF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICAL IS INCLINED. THIS ISSUE IS NOT SOLELY THE MANUAL MODELS MY 2017 FORD FOCUS FWD AUTOMATIC SHUTTERS WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID ALL LEVELS WERE GOOD THERE. MY ELECTRONIC 'ANTICIPATION' SCORE IN MY CARS ECO FAQS DASHBOARD IS 5/5. 5/5 IS THE BEST YOUR SCORE CAN BE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR NOT JUST 2014-2016 BUT 2017 AUTOMATICS AND MANUALS BOTH! IF YOU CAN'T ACCELERATE YOUR VEHICLE WITHOUT TRANSMISSION STAGGERING, SHUTTERING, SHAKING AND RELATED ISSUES WITH DRIVING NEW TO PREOWNED 60K-100K AND UNDER VEHICLES THIS IS VERY CONCERNING. MY VEHICLE IS UNDER 52K MILES I GOT IT AROUND 49K. IT WAS BRAND NEW ONE OWNER BEFORE ME AND THE CAR FACS REPORT WAS DETAILED ON ITS SERVICE HISTORY AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. IF MY VEHIC IS AUTOMATIC WITH ECO AND TECHNOLOGY AS WELL AS UP TO DATE SYNC UPDATES THENT ELECTRONICALLY MY VEHICLE IS COMPUTING INCORRECTLY AND THIS FLEX FUEL IS CAUSING SOME COMPUTER ISSUE WITH MY TRANSMISSION. IF MY UP TO DATE VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY IS CAUSING ISSUES THEN I CAN'T TRUST MY VEHICLE TO KNOW HOW TO KEEP ME SAFE. IF I NEED TO ACCELERATE BUT HAVE TO PRESS THE BREAKS OR LET OFF THE GAS UNTIL THE SHUTTERING/STAGGERING/SHAKING COMPLETELY GOES AWAY THEN HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID SOMETHING, TO MERGE AND GET UP TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC SPEED? MY ANTICIPATION IS 5 OUT OF 5 FOR MY ACCELERATION RATINGS TO BE THE BEST POSSIBLE. MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR AVOIDING SAFETY HAZARDS AND DRIVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP INTO 1ST, AND 2ND GEAR. THE STEERING IS GREAT.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AS I PULLED OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD MY RPMS BEGAN BEGAN DO RAPIDLY BOUNCE BETWEEN 0-6 AND THE GAS PEDAL DIDN'T RESPOND TO ANYTHING LIKE THE ENGINE WAS NOT RECEIVING ENOUGH FUEL. I STOPPED THE CAR, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, PUT IN PARK AND THE ENGINE RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE. I BEGAN TO CONTINUE DRIVING TO TURN AROUND COME BACK HOME WORRIED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ABOUT A HALF MILE LATER THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WOULD CRANK WITH NO START. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AT BEACH FORD IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. AFTER THEIR TESTING I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE (FPDM) NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT THE PART IS BACKORDERED WITH AN ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE 2 WEEKS OUT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 23,500 MILES ON IT. THERE'S NO RECALL AT THIS TIME FOR FORD FOCUS STALLING ISSUE WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR A VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A ROAD/HIGHWAY. THAT FACT DISGUSTS ME BECAUSE IT IS A KNOWN AND REOCCURRING PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS CAME OF IT. I ALSO FIND IT INTERESTING THAT PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES HERE WERE RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE DIFFERENT PARTS. I'M CURIOUS TO SEE IF THIS FPDM WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.

I have a recall on my 2017 ford focus that is for the gas tank deformation , this happens because the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system. It jerks , excels and dies when low on or getting gas mostly . Recently it wouldn’t reverse or go over 15 miles and would limp only , not drivable . Codes say it’s clutch b stuck engaged . I took it to the ford dealership and they gave me a 8000 repair bill when I told them I mainly wanted the recall fixed on it and I’d figure out the rest later . They said the recall is not a safety issue and doesn’t have anything to do with the car having issues or driving at all and they are charging me half of the bill for things related to the recall , claiming it isn’t part of the recall (canister purge valve , canister vent , fuel injection cleaning , check engine light being on) . They said they had to redo my appointment for me over the phone because I didn’t put it under the recall appointments and they didn’t include anything about the recall in it . The other half of the bill is them claiming they need to replace the entire clutch .

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW AND WITHIN A WEEK IT BEGAN SHUDDERING, STUDDERING, JERKING DURING ACCELERATION. FOR A WHILE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME GETTING USED TO THE CAR AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL ODDLY. OVER THE YEARS THE PROBLEM HAS BECAME WORSE AND APPROXIMATELY 12-15 MONTHS AGO I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT. I HAD TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE WAY MY CAR WAS DRIVING NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THEY ALLOWED ME TO BRING IT IN. I CANNOT REMEMBER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION OR IF THE "REPAIR" WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. EITHER WAY, THE DEALERSHIP TRIED EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO AVOID ME- SO MUCH THAT I PASSED THE MAXIMUM MILES COVERED IN THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BEFORE I WAS ALLOWED TO BRING IT IN BUT THEY DID STILL HONOR IT, CONSIDERING MY COMPLAINT WAS WELL BEFORE THE THRESHOLD WAS SURPASSED. WHEN I PICKED MY CAR UP I WAS TOLD A NEW ELECTRONIC COMPONENT WAS INSTALLED IN(?) THE TRANSMISSION THAT WOULD RECORD AND ADAPT TO MY DRIVING STYLE, ALLOWING A MUCH SMOOTHER TRANSITION BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS, SOLVING THE SHUDDERING. WHATEVER THEY DID WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK, JUST LONG ENOUGH TO ENSURE THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED. NOW IT IS WORSE THAN EVER- SEVER SHUDDERING AND JERKING BETWEEN GEARS, TAKING LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO SHIFT GEARS, EVEN SLIPPING GEARS SOMETIMES, OCCASIONAL UNINITIATED ENGINE REVVING AND BOGGING DOWN, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE- BOTH AT A STOP AND WHILE IN MOTION, ROLLING BACKWARDS ON AN INCLINE WHILE IN DRIVE. I'M AFRAID TO PULL OUT ONTO A ROAD IF THERE'S ANY TRAFFIC COMING, AFRAID TO CROSS AT A MEDIAN, MERGE INTO TRAFFIC FROM AN OFF RAMP. I'VE KNOWN FROM THE BEGINNING THAT SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT WITH THIS CAR, AND READING THROUGH THE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR THIS SAME MODEL CAR YEARS 2012-2016, I BELIEVE FORD KNOWS, TOO.

ANYTIME I TRY TO MAKE ANY SORT OF TURN IN THIS VEHICLE, TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TURN I ESSENTIALLY GET STALLED OUT EVEN THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL IS ENGAGED AND TRYING TO POWER THE VEHICLE TO MAKE THE TURN. IT BECOMES A DANGEROUS ASPECT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT STARTS TO BECOME BUSY ON A MAIN CITY STREET AND THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO WHILE TRYING TO MAKE THE TURN. MY VEHICLE CAN START TO MAKE THE TURN AND THEN START TO STALL OUT AS I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN, AND THEN IT WILL SIT THERE FOR A SECOND UNTIL THERE ARE INBOUND CARS COMING AND THEN IT'LL CONTINUE TO MAKE THE TURN AFTER STALLING FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. IT'S BECOME A CONCERN BECAUSE IT NOW COMES DOWN TO WAITING UNTIL THE ROADWAY IS EMPTY AND FULL TO MAKE A SAFE TURN. ON TOP OF THAT, IF I'M GOING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 8 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR, MY CAR STARTS TO STUTTER AT LOW SPEEDS. NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THE CASES FOR THAT, BUT IT HAS RAISED SOME EYEBROWS AND SOME CONCERNS TO MYSELF WITH THAT BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IF IT STARTS TO STUTTER AND STALLS OUT COMPLETELY OR DISABLES THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND HATCHBACK I'VE PURCHASED THROUGH FORD, AND IT'S THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER HAD ANY SORT OF ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I JUST DON'T WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING OR TRYING TO MAKE ANY SORT OF TURNS FROM A MAIN STREET TO A SIDE STREET INSTALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY AND POSSIBLY GET HIT FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ESPECIALLY GOING THROUGH ANY SORT OF SCHOOL ZONES WHEN IT'S CLEARLY MARKED TO GO 15 MILES AN HOUR OR BELOW. I WOULD RECOMMEND LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS HAPPENED VERY FREQUENTLY WITH A FEW OTHER 2017 FOCUS'S.
Jun 09, 2019
AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES, ACCELERATOR PRESSURE RESULTS ONLY IN ENGINE REVVING. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF CURRENT SPEED, WHEN TURNING AT ANY SPEED OR WHEN MOVING FORWARD. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. WHEN IT DOES FINALLY ENGAGE, IT WILL DO SO IN A BURST OF ACCELERATION. THESE CONDITIONS CREATE PROBLEMS IN WHICH ROUTINE TRAFFIC MANEUVERS BECOME UNSAFE.

I was driving home from my mother's home and the car swerved and was hard to keep control of. The next day I was headed to work and the warning came on that the transmission was too hot. I let it cool down for 15 minutes and the message said it was safe to drive, but the process repeated 4 times.i called for tow to the mechanic and he said it was a transmission control module. The part was on backorder for se eral weeks. When they tried to do the repair it did not work.

CAR HAS ABOUT 13,000 MILES. SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. 'STOP SAFELY NOW' WARNING SHOWED ON DASHBOARD. TRIED FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO RESTART, FINALLY RESTARTED AND COMPLETED COMMUTE TO WORK. DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER SAME DAY. AFTER ONE WEEK, DEALER HAS NO DIAGNOSIS AND HAS MADE NO REPAIR. I CANNOT DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR ON MY DAILY COMMUTE, WHICH INCLUDES HIGHWAY DRIVING. FORD IS OBVIOUSLY ON NOTICE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that since purchasing the vehicle, the check engine light had remained on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective engine hose. The contact was unable to repair the vehicle. Since the initial failure, the contact stated the engine Auto Stop/Start feature had failed to operate as needed and the engine failed to start as designed while at a stop light. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was jerking upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle had been towed to several dealers where multiple repairs were performed; however, the failure returned after each repair. The vehicle was eventually diagnosed with engine failure and the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE 2ND CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AT 30,000 MILES, IT WAS ON A STREET NOT HIGHWAY, THE CARS ELECTRONIC DASH DISPLAYED "TRANSMISSION FAULT FIX NOW". THE CAR THEN SLOWED DOWN A BIT LOSING POWER, THEN SEVERAL OTHER SIGNALS APPEARED ON SCREEN, BRAKES AND A FEW OTHERS, THEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND POWER WENT OUT. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SO AAA CALLED TO TOW IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED SUNDAY JULY 28, 2019. MONDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER THEY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME THAT THE "ALTERNATOR " WAS FAULTY AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE NEXT DAY. THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS MY WIFE HAD BEEN 110 MILES AWAY AND HAD DROVE HOME SATURDAY JULY 27. IF THAT HAD LET GO WHILE SHE WAS TRAVELING THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF FORD DEALERSHIP 5-6 TIMES FOR SAFETY RELATED ISSUES

BRAND NEW FOCUS ELECTRIC, LESS THAN 3 DAYS OLD FROM DEALER ON 8/17/2017. FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS, I HAVE DRIVEN LESS THAN 100 MILES. CAR WAS CHARGED OVERNIGHT AND SHOWS FULL CHARGE THIS MORNING. I DROVE THE CAR LESS THAN 30 MILES TODAY. IN THE EVENING, WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STOPPED SUDDENLY ON THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS IN STEADY SPEED ON A CITY STREET IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I WAS NOT ACCELERATING. I WAS NOT BRAKING. ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. BATTERY STILL SHOW 80 MILES CHARGE. INDICATOR WARNING SHOWS: "STOP SAFELY WARNING LAMP" AND "ELECTRIC MOTOR WARNING LAMP". ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE BRIGHT WHEN THE CAR DOOR IS OPENED, IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THE BATTERY CHARGE IS LOW. ALSO THERE IS NO WARNING OF "LOW BATTERY" BEFORE THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN I TURN OFF THE "POWER/START BUTTON", THE "INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT DISPLAY/GPS" STAYED ON. EVEN AFTER I HAVE CLICKED THE "LOCK" BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL KEY. AFTER PRESSING THE "POWER/START/STOP" QUITE A NUMBER OF TIME AND SWITCHING BETWEEN THE TWO KEYS, THEN THE "DISPLAY CENTER" FINALLY TURN OFF. WE HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE CAR TOWED.

BESIDE THE TWO SAFETY RECALLS 18V-735 AND 19V-515 THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR WHICH WHEN IT RAINS ALL THE RAIN WATER PENETRATES THE BACK DOOR OF THE CAR AND IT STAYS THERE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND ITS NEGLIGEANCE AND FRAUD. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MIGHT BE A SAFETY RISK AND IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. AFTER THE RECALLS AND THE POOR REPAIRS THE CAR STILL UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEM IS IRREPARABLE WHICH MEANS THIS CAR WILL NEVER BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND EVERYDAY I DRIVE IT TO WORK WHENEVER I STOP IN A HILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN I HEAR NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND IF IT HAPPENED THAT I STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HILL DUE TO TRAFFIC THE CAR LOSSES ITS POWER AND BARELY MOVES FORWARD ( LOSS OF POWER DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSION)THIS ISSUE CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT EARLY THIS YEAR WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER UP HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD . THE CONCLUSION IS MY CAR AND ALL 2017 FORD FOCUS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE . I BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THIS GARBAGE CAR DECEIVED ALL OF US AND COMMITTED A BIG FRAUD . I THINK IT IS TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO OPEN AN INVESTIGATION AND FORCE THEM BY LAW TO BUY THEIR GARBAGE CARS BACK . UNTIL THIS MOMENT I STILL BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO ONE ABOVE THE LAW. ON 3/21/19 WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. THE DOOR JUST POPPED OPEN, I WAS DRIVING IN AN INTERSECTION OF A BUSY STREET AND ABOUT TO MAKE A TURN WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND I BARELY MISSED AN ACCIDENT. LUCKILY I WAS RIGHT BY A GAS STATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I REQUESTED THAT THE DEALERSHIP EXAMINE ALL 4 DOORS AS I WAS AFRAID THIS MIGHT RECUR. ON 4/14/19 THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED, ONLY THIS TIME IT WAS THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER SEAT. THE DOOR POPPED OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT SHUT. I TOOK THE CAR STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I WAS TOLD THIS COULD BE A CHILD SAFETY LOCK ISSUE, YET I DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE, AS I DO NOT HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT ALL LATCHES ON ALL DOORS BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I ALSO HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES (STALLING) WHICH DEALER STATES IS RESOLVED, AND AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK THAT I WAS TOLD WAS A RECALL THEN NOT? WHAT IS IT? IS THE GAS TANK A RECALL OR NOT? ID MY CAR DEFECTIVE & SAFE TO DRIVE?

I am reporting a dealership conduct issue that directly affected vehicle safety and caused financial loss. Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio told me by phone that a specific safety-related part for my vehicle was in stock and available. Based on that representation, I traveled to the dealership and took time away from work. When I arrived, I was told the part was not available and had not been there. Shortly after this, I went out of town. During that time, Valley Ford stated they were unable to reach me. After returning, I again contacted Valley Ford and was once more told that the same safety-related part was available. I again traveled to the dealership, taking additional time off work, and once again was told upon arrival that the part was not available. This resulted in the same situation happening twice. Because of this repeated misinformation, I lost wages and hard-earned paid time off (PTO), was delayed in repairing my vehicle, and had to continue driving while waiting for a safety-related component I was told was available. I use my vehicle for work every day for approximately eight hours per day. Being forced to continue operating my vehicle without this safety-related repair places myself and other motorists at risk. After these incidents, I contacted Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio in an effort to resolve the issue. I was informed that the same safety-related part could take up to eight weeks to become available. This extended delay has further prolonged my inability to complete necessary safety-related repairs and has continued to place me in a potentially unsafe driving situation. I believe this repeated misinformation and prolonged unavailability of a safety-related vehicle component is dangerous and unacceptable. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA is aware of the actions of Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio and the ongoing delay reported by Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio.

THE LEFT REAR TIRE LEANS IN AT TOP 2-3 DEGREES. DEALER CHECKED, IT SHOWED OUT OF CAMBER/ALIGNMENT, BUT WAS "WITHIN SPECS". AT UNDER 1200-MILES, TIRE IS ALREADY SHOWING UNEVEN INSIDE TREAD WEAR. DEALER KNOWS BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT IT UNLESS FORD AUTHORIZE. I FOUND THIS ON FORD WORLD; "FORD MOTOR COMPANY TOLD DEALERS THAT THEY MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON FORD FOCUS MODELS. THE MODELS INCLUDE: FOCUS SEDAN SE SERIES, WAGON, ZX3 AND ZX5 SERIES. ACCORDING TO FORD, CONSUMERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MORE THAN NORMAL WEAR TO THE INSIDE OF THE REAR TIRE(S). SHOULD OWNERS EXPERIENCE SUCH A CONDITION, THEN THEY SHOULD BRING THEIR VEHICLE IN TO A FORD OR LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERSHIP FOR A POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENT. FORD WILL CHECK THE REAR CAMBER AND, IF POSSIBLE, MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT. IF AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE VEHICLE'S REAR CAMBER IS NECESSARY BEYOND THE NEGATIVE END OF SPECIFICATION, THEN THE DEALERSHIP WILL NEED TO SOURCE REPLACEMENT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM(S)." THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY PARTS SERVICE KIT REQUIRED FOR THIS REPLACEMENT IS 3S4Z-1A154-AA. FORD WILL PERFORM THE REPLACEMENT OF PARTS UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY UNDER TSB T31305. THIS IS CONSIDERED A "SILENT RECALL" WHERE UPON FORD MAY NOT NOTIFY OWNERS OF THIS CONDITION. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while stopped at the bank drive-thru line, the vehicle stalled. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The failure was progressively worsening. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the fuel pump, AX Sender, and pump assembly, AA gasket, B sensor, and fuel injector pressure parts were replaced. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving in heavy traffic at 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that several months ago, on a separate occasion, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart, and the contact waited for approximately an hour before the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to several dealers to be repaired. While an employee from one of the dealers was test-driving the vehicle, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that there were fuel vapors in the line, and that the high side sensor pressure dropped, and low side sensor pressure dropped. The vehicle was repaired. Most recently, the contact stated that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

I was moving my car in a gas station parking lot and went to stop the car to go in reverse and the breaks went to the floor and I pushed them about five times and still no breaks. I hit a concrete column and air bags didn't deploy and the airbag lights were blinking on and off and speedometer needle was going crazy. Officer went to assist with moving the car to a curbside and in neutral the car was trying to go forward then when it was put in park it continued to try to go forward. We were not on a hill, it was flat in the parking lot. If this would have happened on the main roads my son, nephew and myself could have been hurt and if I had hit someone else they could have been hurt as well. I know have a adjusting checking the vehicle and a mechanics shop as well. Before this happened I had absolutely no warning.

The vehicle has an intermittent problem that causes it to lose power, become unresponsive, and leave the occupants vulnerable to a collision if it becomes necessary to accelerate from cross traffic or to be rear ended due to rapid deceleration. At random intervals usually daily the check engine light will begin to flash and pressing the throttle the driver will find that the vehicle will not accelerate. This condition last typically 30 seconds, during that time the vehicle is essentially coasting along under simple inertia. Then as suddenly as it began the light turns off and the car returns to normal. My vehicle experienced catastrophic failure during one such episode resulting in a thrown rod in cylinder number 3, the vehicle had the engine replaced under warranty at a cost of $12,000. After the car was returned I found that it continued to experience the same problem, returned to the place that installed the engine and they weren't able to repair the problem. Was directed to take to Temecula Ford, they required I allow their technician to drive the vehicle home nightly over 40 miles each direction and after 2 weeks weren't able to supposedly recreate the problem. I picked the car up with nothing to show but extra miles. Immediately the problem once again began, I scanned the ecu and took screen shots and data recordings to provide the dealer. Directed to return the car, they had it another week and despite having the provided information stated they couldn't duplicate the issue. Decided to take it to another local dealership, they had it a week and stated the problem was caused by using NGK spark plugs instead of MotorCraft plugs. I informed them they were installed with the new engine and they required I purchase their spark plugs. I paid $400 for plugs and picked the vehicle up, the problem persisted. I was however given a refund. Still can't use the car, Ford corporation refused to do anything for me.

THE REGENERATIVE BRAKE SYSTEM OCCASIONALLY CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN ON BUMPY, SLIPPERY, OR UNEVEN PAVEMENT. THE BRAKES APPEAR TO LOCK-UP, OR "SKIP" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE FORWARD ABRUPTLY. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT CAUSATION, HOWEVER I THINK IT MAY BE DUE TO THE CAR SWITCHING FROM REGENERATIVE TO FRICTION BRAKING. THIS FORM REQUIRES A DATE AND MILEAGE ENTRY, HOWEVER I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I AM BRAKING ON LESS THAN PERFECT PAVEMENT.

Current Ford recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 only includes VINs with automatic transmissions. However, the oil pump belt & timing belt are the same used on the automatic transmissions that are subject of the recall. These components are just as likely to fail on manual transmission VINs but are not included in the current campaign.

Cruise control fails constantly, has trouble picking up speed going up hills. Can't maintain speed on hills and sloaps. Gave to dealership for two months said it was fine only for them to tell me they had no mechanic. Engine continues to fail and they won't check for new recall for free on my car. My check ending light is currently on, I believe it is the same issue with the other Ford Focus recall.

While driving around [XXX] PM on Thursday, [XXX], the Focus Electric displayed a "Stop Safely Now" message and proceeded to cut power going to the electric motor, allowing the car only to coast as if it was in neutral. Luckily no vehicles were around in my lanes, as that easily could've caused an accident. Electric steering, regen braking, and air conditioning were all disabled. I was able to coast it into a nearby FireHouse Subs parking lot, and directly into a parking spot. Had to disconnect the 12 Volt battery for 5 minutes and reconnect to hopefully reset the computers in the car. Still displayed SSN message after reconnection. I let the car sit for another 30 minutes and was able to start it up like nothing happened. Drove it home and read the stored DTCs, which were the following: ===BECM DTC P0AA2:00-08=== Code: P0AA2 - Hybrid/EV Battery Positive Contactor 'A' Stuck Open ===TCM DTC P0AF8:16-08=== Code: P0AF8 - Hybrid/EV Battery System Voltage ===GFM DTC U0111:00-08=== Code: U0111 - Lost Communication With Battery Energy Control Module A It will be going to Thomasville Ford on Wednesday [XXX]. Transmission problems. I’ve almost wrecked a few times from my car stalling in intersections. First it had a delay in shifting where it would stall out before jolting into gear. Now it will not switch gears at all and is not driveable. I’ve been told that it is probably the TCM malfunctioning, but Ford did not extend the warranty on my test vehicle. They stopped it at 2016 models, claiming that 2017 onward the issue was fixed. Wrong. Countless searches online will tell you countless drivers have issues with their TCM going out. I was almost in a few different wrecks due to this problem(almost being hit in an intersection bc I couldn’t move) and now my car isn’t driveable and I cannot afford to replace the TCM right now. I feel scammed by Ford making such a crappy transmission system that is dangerous and unreliable. Problem confirmed by local transmission shop. I received no warnings on dash leading up to these issues.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that after the vehicle was refueled at a local gas station, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle then restarted after several attempts. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred after refueling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed purge valve canister and that the purge valve canister needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact previously received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 19V515000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the contact stated that only parts of the recall repairs were completed. The contact stated that the PCM was flashed; however, the purge valve canister was not replaced as per the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

On MANY multiple occasions the vehicle has undergone a transmission/clutch failure. The worst of which was when passing a vehicle on a busy section of interstate and the car effectively put itself in neutral, unable to accelerate, at which point the vehicle behind us had to swerve to not collide with us or cause an accident. After the third time bringing it back to the dealership for repairs, I looked into it. We have only been able to drive this car LITERALLY HALF of the time we’ve owned it, and poured thousands in repairs for obvious and negligent manufacturing defects that YOU KNOW ABOUT. This is a well known issue, and FAR FAR beyond the reasonable requirements for a recall. I am stuck with this vehicle and am mounting debt because I cannot afford another car. The NHTSA has outright failed in its duties to protect people from Fords clear fraud and negligence. I’m unsure if it’s political pressure to not oust them, or because you’re corrupt. Either way, I’ve decided to mount a campaign to bring light to this issue, and your complete lack of response. Ford is at fault for fraud and endangerment. YOU are at fault for willfully ignoring an issue that has, ON THOUSANDS OF WELL DOCUMENTED OCCASIONS, caused real financial and/or physical harm. Which is literally the exact opposite of your institution’s purpose. I will not be including the paperwork or screenshots of our (currently) 10+ shop visits and bills, because you already have thousands (if not literal millions) of examples. You make me a sick as Ford. Shame on you.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who scanned the vehicle who informed her there was small leak in the fuel line. The local dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the RPM’s started fluctuating before lowering and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to regain motive power by excessively depressing the accelerator. The contact was able to drive approximately 5-10 minutes however, while coming to a stop light the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle drove normal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact, a certified mechanic, retrieved a diagnostic trouble code for a malfunctioning EVAP system and that the O2 sensor had malfunctioned. Additionally, the fuel level was elevated. The dealer was contacted and confirmed the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,500.

All lights came on and vehicle immediately slowed down, brakes became hard and it eventually just stalled out. Would not restart. Towed to repair shop . Vehicle has approx 66,000 miles on it and manual says this piece if equipment should last until 150,000. Upon research, this is a common occurrence in the 2017, 2018 Ford focus.

My 2017 Focus RS (build date 20 March 2017, purchase date 16 June 2017; 30234 miles) had the SRS light illuminated on the dashboard. This started as an intermittent issue about a year ago, and progressed to the point that recently the light is always illuminated. Ford provides for a "Safety Restraint System" warranty period of 5 years/60 k miles; my car is still within this coverage period. I decided to bring in the car to my local dealership Gosch Ford Escondido in Escondido, CA to have it inspected and repaired. A technician evaluated the issue and provided the following diagnosis on the service report: "VERIFIED AIRBAG LIGHT, CHECKED CODES, FOUND B0061:13 IN OSCM FOR PASSENGER PRETENSIONER, PERFORMED PPT, FOUND PRETENSIONER TO BE INTERNALLY OPEN. NEED TO REPLACE PRETENSIONER." However, the service department contacted me to inform that the repair would not be covered under warranty and that repairs would be at my cost. I have contacted Ford corporate customer service to escalate and am awaiting a response.

SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR. I NOTICED ORIGINALLY LAST OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION AND LATER IT WOULD DO A COMBINATION OF LAST OF POWER AT TIMES AND LUNGING WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT GEARS(AUTOMATICALLY). EVENTUALLY, FRONTIER FORD(DEALERSHIP) REPLACED THE CLUTCH N A FEW OTHER MINOR ITEMS RELATED TO THE CLUTCH. THE PROBLEMS THE SAME ISSUES CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I FINALLY FILED A COMPLAIN WITH THE BBB, IT APPEARS THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY NEVER RETURNED THEIR CALLS OR EMAILS AND THAT CASE WAS CLOSED. NEXT I CONTACTED THE SJ BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR. THEIR DETERMINATION WAS THAT FORD FIESTAS AND FOCUS MODELS WERE NOTORIOUS FOR SERIOUS TRASMITION PROBLEMS. IT IMPLIED THAT IT WAS A FEATURE NOT A BUG BECAUSE EVENTHOUGH THE SJ BAR KNEW OF THESE SERIOUS ISSUES THEY TOOK NO ACTION. I STARTED NOT DRIVING THE CAR AS MUCH LOOKING INTO HOW I COULD GET THE MANUFACTURER TO BUY BACK THIS UNRELIABLE DANGEROUS CAR. I AM EN EXPERIENCED DRIVER SO I AVOIDED ACCIDENTS WHEN THE CAR WOULD MALFUNCTION, HOWEVER THE NIGH OF 11/06/19 AT ABOUT MIDNIGHT MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR WITHOUT PERMITION AND WHEN THE CAR LUNGED FOWARD (AS IT WOULD DO WHILE SHIFTING GEARS AUTOMATICALLY) DURING A STREET TURN, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CRASHED INTO 2 PARKED CARS. THE AIRBAGS DIDNT DEPLOY AND THE SEATBEALT DIDNT LOCK RESULTING IN HER GETTING A CONCUSION AND A PRETTY BLOODY MOUTH AS HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL(THESE 2 DEFECTS WERE UNKNOWN TO ME PREVIOUSLY). HAVING TO DO MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THIS UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE CAR HAD LOTS OF NEGATIVE RIPPLE EFFECTS IN MY FAMILY'S LIFE CULMINATING IN MY DAUGHTER BEING INJURED BY WELL KNOWN DEFECTS BY FORD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS EVEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS FOR FIESTA AND FOCUS CARS BUT I TRUELY DONT KNOW HOW ANY OF THAT WORKS. MY HOPE HERE IS THAT AT A MINIMUM THESE COMPLAINS CAN HELP GET THESE DANGEROUS CARS OFF THE ROAD.
