Was driving on populated road when all of a sudden car when in to neutral and almost rear-ended if not for quick thinking. Had to have it towed and now don't have any money to fix it so I lost my job cause could not get to work please have this problem recalled like the earlier years..

Driving down the road vehicle experiences total loss of acceleration it’s like it’s in neutral in every won’t go forward or backwards towed home looked up problem seems that it’s the same as recall for 04-05 models torch converter had I been on highway in St. Louis mo could have been killed as they aren’t known for being the safest drivers it’s my opinion Ford should have to recall every vehicle that had the parts that are faulty in them regardless of the model year if the parts are junk on 04-05 they used the same in 06 models you know they are gonna have same problems

I HAVE MY 2 GRANDCHILDREN WHO HAVE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY. I BOUGHT THIS VAN TO GET THEM TO DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS, ETC WITH WHEEL CHAIR. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME AND STOPPED AT THE LIGHT. AS SOON AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED THOUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. THE VEHICLE JUST WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD CHILDREN IN THIS VAN AND WAS ALMOST HIT BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE. WHY WOULD FORD NOT STEP UP AND DO A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. WHEN WILL SOMEONE TAKE NOTICE THAT THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A ACCIDENT, HURTING INNOCENT CHILDREN. THESE VANS ARE MOSTLY USED AS A FAMILY VAN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REVERSE INDICATORS FAILED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT AFTER OPENING THE LIFT GATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START IMMEDIATELY AND THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ERRONEOUSLY. MY 2006 FORD FREE STAR, LOST IT GEARS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON A BUSY HWY. I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVE WAY ON TO THE HWY AND WENT TO GO INTO D AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE IT WOULD ONLY GO INTO FIRST GEAR. I THINK THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT POOR DESIGN. ME AND MY CHILDREN COULD OF BEEN HURT OR EVEN WORSE KILLED. THE HWY IS 65 MPH AN I'M STUCK ACROSS THE TWO LANES. BECAUSE THE VAN WONT SHIFT. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. AND IT NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE LOST POWER WELL DRIVING ON THE HWY IN THIS VAN DUE TO POOR DESIGN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

I WENT THROUGH AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH AROUND 315PM. THE VAN WAS DRIVING FINE UP TO THIS POINT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT THE CARWASH, THE VAN STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING. I'VE HAD ONE OTHER SITUATION LIKE THIS WITH THIS VAN WHEN WE WENT AWAY FOR A WEEKEND AND IT RAINED A LOT WHERE WE WERE STAYING. THE VAN ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL BUT WE HAD NO IDEA WHY. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VAN THAT WAS ATTRIBUTED TO WATER. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. I ALSO FOUND AN INVESTIGATION THAT STATED THERE IS A DEFECT AND IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN BUT THAT THEY WEREN'T GOING TO ISSUE ANY RECALLS AT THIS TIME BECAUSE THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS. THE DIAGNOSIS FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS AS FOLLOWS-WATER HAS LEAKED INTO THE PCM. THEY WOULD NEED TO CLEAN THAT OUT AND SEAL IT SO WATER CAN'T LEAK INTO IT ANYMORE. WATER HAS ALSO LEAKED INTO MY SPARK PLUGS AND CORRODED THEM. THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRING. WATER HAS ALSO LEAKED INTO MY FUEL LINES SO THEY WANT TO CLEAN OUT MY FUEL LINE. ALL OF THIS FOR OVER $700.00. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD MOTORS BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T HELP ME BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY RECALLS. I CAN'T SAY I'M SURPRISED BY THAT SINCE THEY HAVEN'T TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT WITH OTHERS AND DON'T SOUND LIKE THEY EVER WILL. I'M NOT PAYING FORD TO FIX IT BECAUSE THIS ISN'T NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND IT'S NOT CAUSED BY ANYTHING THAT I HAVE DONE. I'M GOING TO TAKE MY CHANCES WITH THE VEHICLE WHILE I TRY TO PURSUE THIS ANOTHER WAY. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, I ACCELERATED TO PROCEED, AND AS MY VEHICLE STARTED TO GO IT JUST AS QUICKLY DIED. WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND COMING AT ME FROM THE LEFT AND RIGHT, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT THOSE CARS WERE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME AND NOT BROADSIDE ME OR REAR END ME, AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LONG STORY SHORT, IT WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER! I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 04 AND 05 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2006. HAVING RESEARCHED THOROUGHLY ONLINE FOR THIS PROBLEM, CLEARLY, MINE IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER 2006 FORD FREESTAR OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE BETWEEN 120K AND 150K MILES, COMPLAINTS STATED IN MANY FORD FORUMS AND OTHER INTERNET VENUES. OF THE 75+ I READ, ABOUT 50% HAD REGISTERED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE IN THE 06 FREESTARS WITH NHTSA. CLEARLY, FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2006 AS WELL. WE RENTED A FORD FREESTAR FROM A LOCAL RENTAL COMPANY. TODAY, MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO IS 59 INCHES TALL AND WEIGHS 71 LBS., WAS SITTING IN THE MIDDLE ROW BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SHE WAS APPROPRIATELY RESTRAINED IN THE LAP-SHOULDER BELT ONLY. I HAD TO STOP SUDDENLY. WHILE I WOULD CHARACTERIZE IT AS AN ABRUPT STOP, IT WAS NOT SEVERE AND THERE WAS NO IMPACT. I HEARD A "BREAKING" SOUND. MY DAUGHTER EXCLAIMED THAT HER SEAT BELT HAD BROKEN. I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT IT; AND FOUND THAT THE UPPER SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR HAD BECOME DETACHED (UNBOLTED) FROM THE VEHICLE. I COULD NOT FIND EVIDENCE OF BREAKAGE. THE BOLT SEEMS TO HAVE SIMPLY COME OUT. OF COURSE, THIS FAILURE CREATED CONSIDERABLE SLACK IN THE SHOULDER BELT WHICH I BELIEVE WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO EXCEED NHTSA'S HEAD EXCURSION LIMITS. THE FREESTAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN OCTOBER, 2005. BY THE WAY, NO ONE WAS HURT AND I PLAN TO CONTACT FORD TOMORROW. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,098 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,168.

My Ford Freestar without warning or anything just wouldn’t go after stopping at a stop sign. It was like it was stuck in neutral. But it was in drive. In 2003 and 2004 there was a recall on the transmission. My van is a 2005 but the transmission was manufactured in 2004. Which is one of the years that was recalled so why is my 2005 Ford Freestar van not one of the ones under that recall. Is it cause it’s a 2005 cause the transmission was manufactured in 2004. WHILE DRIVING, THE VAN SUDDENLY CEASED TO RESPOND TO APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL. THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO RESPOND, RPMS RISE WITH ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS BUT THE VAN WILL NOT MOVE. NO GEAR (INCLUDING REVERSE) RESPONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO BE TOWED. AT THIS TIME, REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE, BUT THERE IS SIGNIFICANT INDICATION THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER MAY BE THE ISSUE. WE ARE DISTURBED BECAUSE THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER 2006 FREESTAR OWNERS, AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED OR APPARENT RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN ON THE PART OF THE MANUFACTURER. IT IS CLEAR THAT THE SAME PARTS ARE BEING AFFECTED AS THOSE RECALLED FROM THE 2005 MODELS. I HADE BEEN DRIVING THE VAN FOR APPROXIMATLY 125 MILES, CAME TO A STOPLIGHT CLOSE TO MY HOME. STOPPED AT THE LIGHT, AND WHEN I TRYED TO GO FORWARD EHRN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THERE WAS NO POWER TO THEE TRANSMISSION, THE ENGINE ONLY REVED UP. I WAS FACING DOWNHILL, AND ROLLED INTO A STORE PARKING LOT. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE. DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND VERY SIMILAR CERCUMSTANCES WITH MANY OTHER FREESTARS. FORD HAD ISSUED A RECALL ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER FOR THE 2004-05 FREESTARS, BUT NOT THE 2006, WHICH HAS THE SAME PART. WHILE IN DRIVE (IN A RAINY NIGHT) VEHICLE JUST COASTED TO A STOP. I HAD NO WORKING GEARS - VEHICLE ACTED LIKE BEING IN 'NEUTRAL' NO MATTER WHAT WAS SELECTED. TOWED TO PUNDMANN FORD AND DIAGNOSED AS A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM THAT ALSO RUINED THE TRANSMISSION. DEALER QUOTE "DIAG REMOVED TRANS ASSY REPLACED TORQUE CONVERTER O/D DRUM FORWARD CLUTCH AND O/D BAND ALL PISTONS AND SEALS ROAD TEST". SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX. FOUND OUT RECALL IN 2004 AND 2005 MODELS FOR SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS SAME PROBLEM AND 2006S SHOULD BE INCLUDED. SHOCKING THAT A TRANSMISSION GOES COMPLETELY OUT AT 47,000 MILES.

During rush hour I was pulling out of a Walgreens parking lot to take a left hand turn. As soon as I gave it gas it went forward about 7 feet and then it seemed as though my van went into neutral on its own. I looked on the dash and saw it was still in drive. I was stuck in the middle of traffic in the middle of my left turn. My car was sideways with traffic coming toward me from both sides I tried to put it in 3rd ,1nd, reverse. The shifter moved to those gears but all that happened when I gave it gas was revve up the rpm. I'm EXTREMELY lucky that the on coming traffic didn't side swipe me. I was able to get help pushing it to a side street. Where I turned it off for 30 min and tried again, still no vehicle movement, checked transmission fluid... It was good. I was not getting any transmission engagement. There was no warning lights illuminated prior to this incident and there is currently no warning lights illuminated now. I would absolutely LOVE if someone could inspect my vehicle and I'm available anytime for someone to do so. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because I was unable to complete my left turn my vehicle was stuck sideways during rush hour with on coming traffic coming from both ways. I haven't taken the vehicle to the ford dealer or any other independent service center. Thankfully there was no accident, so I didn't have the need to call the police.

WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE, WE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP (EITHER AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT OR PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY). THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH, AND THE VAN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 10-15 MPH DESPITE DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WAS TO SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND START IT AGAIN WHICH CLEARS THE COMPUTER. THERE WERE SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN WE LOST POWER WHILE ENTERING AN INTERSECTION AND WERE ALMOST HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS, NEITHER OF WHICH FOUND AN ERROR CODE OR COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN OR WHERE THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR. IT MAY HAPPEN TWICE IN ONE WEEK OR SIX MONTHS COULD PASS WITHOUT AN ISSUE. WE WERE FINALLY FORCED TO SUE FORD UNDER PENNSYLVANIA LEMON LAW. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AFTER THE VAN WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THE VAN FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DAUGHTER'S DAYCARE. I DROVE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT 10 MPH AND LEFT IT RUNNING. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED FOR ONCE, AND A MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO PULL AN ERROR CODE FOR A FAULTY ABS SENSOR. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEM PULL UP THE VEHICLE RECORDS. TO THEIR CREDIT, THEY AGREED TO PAY THE $1200 BILL FOR THE ABS SENSOR AND ANOTHER PART RELATED TO THE PROBLEM. I DROVE THE VAN FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND A HALF WITH NO OTHER ABS PROBLEMS. AN EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT WHEN NO ERROR CODES APPEAR DURING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, FORD WILL NOT PAY THE DEALERSHIP TO TROUBLESHOOT. MY FAMILY HAD STOPPED TO LET PEDESTRIANS CROSS AND WHEN MY HUSBAND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO ACCELERATE BUT IT DID NOT IN GAUGE THE DRIVE. THE VAN ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING AND MY RPM'S SHOT UP TO 5000. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE I WAS REFERRED TO COTTMAN TRANSMISSION TO GET IT EVALUATED. COTTMAN TRANSMISSION SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS FULL OF WATER AND COMPLETELY BURNED UP. THEY SAID THAT THESE VANS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WATER LEAKING THROUGH THE WIPER VENTS ONTO THE TOP OF THE PCM AND WATER ENTERING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. UPON MORE INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAS EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND STILL HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. MY FORD FREESTAR HAD BEEN OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT AND THE WINDOWS WERE ICY AS THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROX 30 DEGREES. I STARTED THE CAR AND PUT THE REAR DEFROSTER ON HIGH FOR ABOUT 10 MIN BEFORE LEAVING FOR WORK. SOON AFTER, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD IMPLOSION AS THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AND MOST FELL IN! STUNNED AND NOT KNOWING INITIALLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND QUICKLY REALIZED THAT I NEEDED ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION TO WORK AND RETURNED HOME TO FURTHER ASSESS MY NEWLY 'AIR CONDITIONED' VAN. I CONTACTED MY DEALER SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND GOT THE REAR WINDOW REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE. DESPITE A COUPLE OF MECHANICS SUGGESTING THAT THE COMBINATION OF THE ICY CONDENSATION ON THE WINDOW AND THE DEFROSTER RUNNING ON HIGH CAUSED THE WINDOW TO SHATTER, FORD MOTORS WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ANY OF THE EXPENSE ($260) FOR REPAIRS. THIS VAN HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND FORTUNATELY HAS OTHERWISE BEEN RELIABLE. THE FACTORY ISSUED WIPER BLADES ON THE 2004 AND 2006 FORD FREESTAR MINIVAN DO NOT WORK WELL. WHEN WIPING THEY LEAVE MAJOR STREAKS ACROSS MY LINE OF VISION. IN SOME CASES I HAVE HAD TO NARROWLY DODGE ACCIDENTS BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEIR IS LITTLE, OR A LOT OF RAIN OR SNOW. IF IT IS BAD WEATHER IT IS PRETTY MUCH A GUARANTEE THAT THE WIPERS WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE TRIED CHANGING THEM TO DIFFERENT STYLE BLADES BUT IT DOES NO GOOD. DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS IT IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKING. I HAVE A 2006 FREESTAR SEL IN 2008. I PURCHASED IT USED AT 57000 KM MILEAGE (CANADA). ABOUT A YEAR AFTER, A RECURRING ISSUE WAS THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON WITHOUT WARNING EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE NET EFFECT IS THAT IT QUICKLY LIMITS THE SPEED TO ABOUT 40 KPH. ONCE, DRIVING AT 100 KPH, IT CAME ON AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I GOT THE TXN FIXED BUT IT STILL OCCURS OCCASIONALLY/RANDOMLY. I GOT IN TOUCH WITH FORD CANADA AND THEY DENY THERE IS SUCH A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET FOUND SEVERAL OWNERS OF FREESTAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DOING JUST OVER 55 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN DIED AN I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY FORD DEALER (SCHULTS FORD OF HARMARVILLE, PA), WHERE TECHNICIAN PAT SAND INDICATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD FREESTARS, AND SAID A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATES THAT BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM (INCORRECT SEALER APPLICATION TO THE PCM AND POOR POSITION OF PCM IN RELATION TO WINDSHIELD RUN-OFF) WATER LEAKAGE INTO THE PROGRAM CONTROL MODULE CAUSES IT TO ISSUE RANDOM COMMANDS AND ERRORS. THEY FOLLOWED THE FORD BULLETIN AND BY SIMPLY BETTER SEALING AGAINST MOISTURE / BLOCKING THE WATER FLOW, RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR

I OWN A 2006 FORD FREESTAR AND AS OF JAN 9 2012 THEY HAVE RECALLED 04-05 FOR THE TRANSMISSION BLOWING UP! TORQUE CONVERTER ,PUMP AND OUTPUT SHAFT TO GIVE YOU THE PATS! MY FAMILY WAS IN THE VAN ON THE 400 HWY DRIVING ON JAN 22 2012 WITH TWO CHILDREN AND MY VAN SHOUTS DOWN NO CONTROL,DRIVING 105-110 IN THE MIDDLE LANE.. BOUGHT THE 2006 FORD FREESTAR ON 9/14/11. 5 MINUTES AFTER THE PURCHASE, I CAME TO A LIGHT AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. TURNED RIGHT AROUND AND WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASSUMED IT WAS FROM SITTING IN THE LOT THROUGH A MASSIVE SNOW STORM. IN THE 18 WEEKS THAT I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE, IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK TO THE SHOP 4 TIMES TOTALING 12 FULL WEEKS. WE HAVE CONSTANT LOSS OF POWER. WE ALSO EXPERIENCE A JERKING/BUCKING WHICH RESULTS IN THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AND AS SOON AS THE CAR SLOWS DOWN ENOUGH, IT WILL LOSE POWER. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER RAIN. ON NOV. 18, 2011 WHILE ON A TRIP OF APPROXIMATELY 600 MILES ROUND TRIP THIS 2006 FORD FREESTAR SHUDDERED A FEW TIMES WHICH WAS PRESUMED TO BE ROUGH ROAD. ON NOV. 23 THE VAN DID NOT GO INTO REVERSE. AFTER A FEW TRIES IT DID SLIP INTO REVERSE. THE FOLLOWING DAY NOV. 24 THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE VAN WAS IN ANOTHER TOWN ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY, MY DAUGHTER HAD BORROWED IT, SO ON DEC.06, 2011 SHE TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME A PAPER STATING THE OSS WAS BAD. I PICKED UP THE VAN (AFTER THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT COULD BE DRIVEN HOME), AND ON THE WAY HOME IT STARTED TO JERK WHEN CHANGING GEARS WHILE GOING UP OR DOWN HILLS. THE LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUT WENT OUT ALSO. I TOOK THE VAN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND AFTER THEY CHECKED IT OVER IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OSS SENSOR. A WASHER HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, THE FLUID WAS FULL OF METAL, BUSHINGS WERE WORN, AND GEARS NEEDED REPLACING. I TRUST THIS TRANSMISSION PLACE TOTALLY AND SINCE I HAD EXPERIENCED THE REVERSE AND GEAR JERK PROBLEMS MYSELF I FELT THIS WAS THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED. NOW, THIS MAY BE REASONABLE FOR SOME 2006 VEHICLES WHICH MAY HAD BEEN DRIVEN HARD, HOWEVER.. THIS VAN HAD 56683 MILES WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS VEHICLE IS USED MOSTLY FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR A DISABLED PERSON. WHICH MAKES IT TWICE AS FRIGHTENING ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. I KEEP THINKING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES OF BREAKING DOWN MILES AWAY FROM HOME. WHEN IS IT ACCEPTABLE FOR A BOUGHT NEW, GENTLY TREATED VEHICLE WITH 56683 MILES ON IT HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER PENETRATED THE HOOD, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT WATER DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION, INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER, AND SMART MODULE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER AND SMART MODULE WERE NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS REPLACED 105,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I HAVE A 2006 FORD FREESTAR AND TODAY IT DECIDED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT MY FOOT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 25 MPH. TURNED OFF TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON AND RAN FINE. HAVE OWNED THIS 2006 FREESTAR SINCE NEW. SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES. STEREO SYSTEM - INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE PRESETS RESETTING AND THE CLOCK SETTING BACK TO 12:00. ALSO THE VOLUME FLUCTUATING UP AND DOWN ON ITS OWN WHEN USING THE REAR CONTROLS. THE STEREO HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. REAR DRIVER SIDE TURN SIGNAL LAMP - HAS BURNED OUT AND BEEN REPLACED 7 TIMES. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE PROBE - IS NOT READING PROPERLY. STARTER - HAVE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS STARTING THE VEHICLE. HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESOLUTION FROM SEVERAL DEALERS. THE PCM WAS NOT FOUND TO BE WET OR DAMAGED. ARE CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS MAJOR WIRING ISSUES AND IS A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. ALSO, THE REAR AC BLOWER SQUEALS INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AS WELL. STILL DOING IT. THERE IS A MUFFLED THUMP SOUND COMING FROM THE AIR CLEANER BOX AREA.
