While charging my electric vehicle with this Enel X JuiceBox 40 charger, a burning plastic smell was noted. Upon examining the Enel X charger plug that was attached to my home's NEMA 14-50, it appeared partially melted and very to touch. Using a towel, the plug was removed and a small fire and sparks flew out of the NEMA outlet. The right half of the outlet's plastic shell was melted and the inner metal was charred. Same charring and melting was noted on the corresponding side of the Enel X plug. I turned the circuit breaker off and the sparks and fire subsided. Model of JuiceBox: 2JBO401RNA-PJWX-300

On [XXX], my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN [XXX] ) experienced a complete electrical failure related to its V12 battery system. The vehicle required roadside assistance twice during the same service call — first to jump the car to release the hood latch and again to restore enough power to unlock the doors. An elderly occupant was trapped inside until power was restored. After exiting, she became light-headed and fell; EMS responded and transported her to the hospital. This represents a serious safety defect because total electrical shutdown prevented door operation and normal egress. I am requesting investigation and possible recall review. The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E. The contact stated that a message was received from the Ford App to check the 12-Volt battery. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that a service appointment was needed to have the battery checked. Later, while parking the vehicle, the vehicle lost power and the vehicle shut off, and the instrument panel went black. During the failure, the doors remained locked and could not be unlocked from inside or outside the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who determined that the 12-Volt battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that the safety system occasionally became inoperable. The contact stated that the cable wires were damaged and caused the dropping of the camera after traveling over a bump in the roadway, and the safety features were not available. The camera dropped five to six times per hour. The blue cruise became inoperable, and the driver assistance was inoperable. The vehicle began to pull to the side of the road. There was no audible chime detected. There was an unknown warning light illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but declined to repair the vehicle under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

My 12-volt battery died and due to my car being an Electric Vehicle there was no way for me to get inside my car without jumper cables. The safety concern was that it happened without noticed when i stepped out the car to get my [XXX] out of the back seat. Completely locking me out the car and no way to get inside. The car doesn’t have a conventional door handle and cannot open without electricity. I had to have emergency services come and break into the car. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

The car would intermittently give an error saying pre-collision assist not available and now this error is permanent. There is a technical service bulletin for it 23-2155 Lots of people have been complaining about this in the mach e forum https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/front-camera-fault-pre-collision-assist-not-available-errors.18710/page-69#post-1026803 This causes people to drop out from the automatic driving bluecruise without notice and adaptive cruise control becomes unusable.

There are many reports of the Mustang Mach E "accelerating unexpectedly." This usually happens in parking lots or other situations involving low speed and a rapid turn of the wheel. I know exactly what the problem is, because it happened to me this morning. While parking in my parking garage, my car rapidly accelerated uphill and I only narrowly avoided hitting a wall. Here is why: There are two interconnected problems. The first is that the "cruise control on/off" button is located on the far left of the interior of the steering wheel, which makes it easy to accidentally press when doing a sharp, quick one-handed turn of the wheel (like when parking). When this happens, CC engages while in the act of parking. This is exactly what happened to me. I accidentally hit the button while doing a sharp twist of the wheel, I saw the CC engage, the car rapidly accelerated uphill without my foot on the gas pedal, and I would have hit the wall in front of me if I had been a split-second slower in hitting the brake. The second problem is that there is supposed to be a failsafe for accidentally activating CC at low speed, BUT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK. Page 224 of my manual says "Press the button to activate system. When the system activates, the set speed is equal to whichever is greater, the current vehicle speed, or 15 mph...." This part is true, and this is how the unexpected acceleration to 15mph occurs when parking. But the manual continues: "If the speed is too low, or other conditions are not correct for adaptive cruise control activation, the system enters standby mode. When you are below 15 mph ... adaptive cruise control does not activate unless you are following another vehicle." This is FALSE. This did not work. Clearly the CC mistook the wall in front of me for "following another vehicle." And so, when I accidentally activated CC while parking, it lurched forward UPHILL to 15mph toward a wall a few feet away. Ford needs to move the button and/or fix the failsafe.

Front Camera Fault Service not available. Pre-Collision Assist Not Available. These faults have been showing up for over a year. I have taken my car to the dealer about 10 times, to no avail. Every time you hit a bump it happens. As I write this my car is in the shop again. The internet is rife with people complaining about this problem.
Aug 11, 2025
The front camera system stopped working, so I lost access to Pre-Collision Assist—(e.g., Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking) as well as all other driver assistance feature. This would occur suddenly while I was driving (sometimes at highway speeds) where I'd have to swerve during a turn while using hands-free driving. Every time I start the car now, I have a permanent error message telling me the safety systems aren’t available. I’ve tried restarting the vehicle and checking for any obvious problems, but nothing has worked. The dealer told me it’s a hardware problem with the camera or its wiring, but fixing it would cost more than I can afford ($4K+). Since Pre-Collision Assist is a key safety feature, not having it working puts me—and possibly other drivers—at greater risk of an accident. This seems to be a common issue with Mustang Mach-Es, and I’m worried about the safety impact. I hope NHTSA can look into this and see if a recall or some other action is needed.

In mid-November 2023, the authorized Ford dealership Hutchinson Ford of Forsyth, located in Forsyth, Georgia, sold and installed four Toyo A23 tires (size 225/55R19 99V) on my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. After approximately 23,000 miles, the tires experienced catastrophic premature wear. Upon investigation, I discovered the dealership had installed tires with a load index of 99. The manufacturer's required specification for my vehicle is a minimum load index of 103. This incorrect fitment created an 880-pound deficit in the vehicle's total load-carrying capacity, posing a severe and constant risk of tire failure, especially at highway speeds. This is a critical safety issue for a heavy electric vehicle. The dealership's management has acknowledged the danger. When I raised this issue, the service manager stated they were "glad something bad did not happen." Despite this admission of the risk they created, they have refused to correct the safety issue, claiming the premature failure is normal wear as the tires are "nearing end of life." This constitutes a dangerous service practice by an authorized Ford dealer, which knowingly left a customer's vehicle in an unsafe condition. I am filing this complaint to document this safety issue and the dealership's refusal to rectify it.

The backup camera has failed numerous times. The camera will work and then suddenly stop creating a safety risk of hitting a pedestrian walking behind the vehicle when relying on the camera. The dealer has attempted to fix the problem by installing a new camera, new wiring harness, and a new module. The new module installed, under warranty, in February 2024 now requires a software update that only the dealer can perform at a cost of $1200. The vehicle warranty expired in July and Ford is not covering the cost of the update despite the module being new and requiring the update to work properly. It seems that if a part on a vehicle requires a software update to function properly that the part was defective and should be recalled. The dealer has inspected and advises to update the software on the module to regain proper function of the backup camera.

Tried to have this recall taken care of for the panoramic roof and windshield reseal. Ford Motor company has dictated to us (the dealer) that the glass portion of repair must be sublet to a glass company. We received a bill from glass company to follow Ford's procedure and FOrd is refusing to pay it, meaning we can no longer take care of these safety recalls because they are telling us we are responsible for the $820 difference in order to complete the safety recall as we cannot find a glass company willing to do the repairs for $350.00.

In the dark, my wife drove the car. After she had traveled about she noticed that the side mirrors were folded. Since it was dark, she did not notice this until she came to a well lit intersection. She had thought that she was seeing to the rear when changing lanes prior to discovering that the side mirrors were folded. It was a safety issue that my wife thought that she was looking to the rear through the side mirrors however they were not even positioned to see to the rear. There was no warning or indication for the side mirrors being folded. There is a button to unfold the mirrors if they are folded however it is easy to drive without realizing that they are folded in the dark.

While driving with my 1 year old in the car, there was a car in front of us turning so we slowed down. After it made its turn, the driver (my dad) accelerated to continue on our drive. During the acceleration, we heard a loud noise and the car stopped in the middle of a busy road. The notification came on the dash stating to safely stop because the battery failed. We did not even have a chance to pull over before the car completely stopped and would not move. We were stuck in the middle of a busy road. I called Ford assistance and they sent a tow truck. I had to wait in the freezing weather with my one year old baby for my father to uber home and get his car. There was no other warning prior to the failure. The car is now at Ford where they say they are getting a new battery to replace the failed one. Now i am without a car but more importantly i feared for mine and my childs safety when the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer.

Camera system that allows hands free driving, lane departure warning, collision warning and adaptive cruise control fails and all system offline. Extremely widespread on the 2021 models. Looks to be a cable route to the camera that was installed incorrectly. Went to dealership, they said they see this in almost all of the Mach E vehicles. Usually begins failing when hitting bumps -- system goes in/out. After a while, system drops out completely and all safety systems relying on them fail.

I was driving on the highway when the car gave me an error saying that the front camera is faulty and the collision warning system was giving an error. This stopped my cruise control and lane departure settings. I had just got my car back from Ford for this issue where they replaced a $7000 computer part and said it was fixed. This issue has been happening since I purchased the car in Dec 2024.

Front camera fault. Pre collision systems don’t work without it. Large online community with the same issues but ford refuses to acknowledge it’s an issue. They won’t help even if errors start happening before warranty is over. And once warranty is over they charge large amounts to fix. There is a TSB out for the issue and it seems like a pinched coaxial cable. Our safety is at stake and the number of occurrences can’t not be random. I am the owner of a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and have experienced repeated failures of the front-facing camera system, which directly impacts critical safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. When the camera fails, these safety systems become unavailable or behave unpredictably, putting my safety and that of others at risk. The issue began around 40,000 miles. It is typically preceded by dashboard warnings such as “Front Camera Fault” or “Driver Assistance Features Unavailable.” I paid out of pocket for a repair at an authorized Ford dealership, but only four months later, the exact same issue happened again. Now, Ford is requiring me to pay for the repair again, despite this being a repeated safety-related failure of the same component. The dealership confirmed the problem both times, and the front camera module is still available for inspection if needed. Ford has refused to cover the cost under warranty or acknowledge any broader defect. I am also aware that other Mustang Mach-E owners have reported similar failures online. Given the recurring nature of the issue and the impact on critical driver assistance systems, I believe this is a serious safety concern that warrants a formal recall and investigation by NHTSA.

SERVICE BRAKES

Ford had a recall on the brakes. The brakes were services 3 times in relational to this issue. Now again the front end shutters when braking especially at highway speed. The dealer says the pads need to be replaced and the rotors resurfaced .This is the 4th time in 42,000 miles. they will not warranty this on going issue. If the pads need to be replaced 4 time in 42,000 mile on a vehicle with regenerative braking there is a obvious issue. I feel this is an on going issue that was never corrected .

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle did not slow down as intended, and crashed into another vehicle. The contact sustained neck, head, and arm injuries. Medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,140.

Lack of power assist braking and power steering. Anti-lock braking, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control System, as well as Hill Start Assist and Pre-Collision Assist are disabled. The instrument cluster displays several warning lamps and text messages at vehicle startup. The dealer is recommending a replacement of the brake booster. This issue matches a recall with the same make, model, and year car, but my VIN is not associated with any unrepaired recalls.

I bought a certified pre-owned 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. The brakes always kind of made a grinding but i figured it was the brake dust on the rotor since the car had sat on the lot for a while. I took the car into Maplecrest Ford in Union, NJ for this issue and they replaced the rear brakes under warranty. Shortly after that I felt a vibrating on the highway, I figured it could be the brakes bedding in. After that it became more persistent and I took the car to the dealer on [XXX] and they told me the front brakes had to be replaced. The car was purchased with 16,500 miles, went to the dealer at 17,000 miles and has 17,500 miles right now. It is impossible to believe that brakes on an EV (where most braking is regenerative) need to be replaced down to the caliper. I read Ford TSB 22-2023: Vibration/Pulsation From Brakes - Brake Pad Material Stuck To Rotor - Built On Or Before 06-Jan-2022 that describes this very issue. Ford essentially notes that pad material will become dislodged and get attached to the rotor. That they're not replacing this under warranty and that they haven't issued a recall for brake pads they've already redesigned because they can break apart is extremely dangerous. There's notes of this happening to cars on Mach-e message boards and Ford is aware because they've issued a TSB: [XXX] (for example). I would strongly encourage the NHTSA to implore a recall before someone gets hurt. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Car gave me a warning to bring car to dealer, who told me I need to replace the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. This part was recalled on other models, but not my specific model, despite the cars using the same part. Dealer said it will cost $3,593 to replace and Ford customer service says there is no recall for it. Also, I intermittenly have gotten a warning that the front camera will not work for forward collision warning or cruise control. It often happens after a bump in the road, but also happens at other random times.

Front Camera Fault & Pre-Collision Assist Not Available Errors COLLISION WARN MALFUNCTION, COLLISION WARN NOT AVAILABLE or COLLISION WARN DISPLAY FAULT. Over 30k miles in the car so the warranty is over for bumper to bumper coverage. Dealer said an update would fix the issue. It cost 2k. Paid. The error came back within a day. Dealer says the next option is to replace all the wiring for the cameras. Which would be another 2-3k.

For over a year I got this warning that said pre collision assist not available. And it would go away after a few minutes. A few weeks ago it never left. Now I have that error as well as adaptive cruise not available. I cannot use my cruise control. I just recently had another issue and paid over 3 thousand. Now ford wants to give me another quote for 3 thousand. I searched and I'm not the only one with issue. This should he a recall problem as we are all having same issue.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front IPMA camera is faulty, not working. The dealership was able to diagnose it properly. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The camera fault means that the vehicle safety features for front collision assistance and anything else that uses the front camera will NOT work. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Bob Tomes Service center in Mckinney, TX has confirmed that the fault. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There are dashboard alerts for Front Camera Fault, and No Adapative Lane Assistance.

This car has had multiple recalls and issues with the power train. It has affected my safety on multiple instances. The cars sensors went out die to the batter overheating and it was having trouble delivering power to the sensors and other parts of the vehicle. When the sensors went out, the car would malfunction and it would think we are about to crash so it would break on its own and do other weird technical things. When the battery overheats it also does not allow effect cooling of vehicle and I live in a state that is very hot. I have reported these issues to the dealer multiple times, but Ford has not put out a remedy for this issue yet.

After reversing, I changed the gear to drive and then the car suddenly accelerated and continued doing so. I was about to crash into another car until I pressed the brake when the car came to a stop. This is the second or third time this has happened with the most recent instance being most concerning as the speed was increasing with time. I did not have my foot on the accelerator during this time nor was the car in cruise control.

I experienced the issue described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000. I had loss of power on the highway. I felt that my safety was at risk immediately after I lost power on the highway where other drivers were driving 60-80 mph. I managed to pull to the side of the road and waited in excess of 2 hours for a tow truck issued by Ford to arrive. The issue was confirmed at the dealer. The reason for my complaint is that I made an appointment with Ford for 4/16 and was told the parts would arrive in 3-5 business days. After 9 business days, the parts still had not arrived, and I experienced the issue that I was hoping to avoid.
May 08, 2024
On 9/16/23 I had no control over acceleration. When I tried to acceleration there was no response, then a slow increase in speed and then a burst of speed independent of my foot pressure on the pedal. Fortunately I was able to drive 2 miles home to get it towed away without an incident, other than terror over the potential danger. I never received the recall 22V-333 issued 5/30/2022 yet my vehicle fits the description of the cars recalled. My question: How was my car missed? Does this recall need to extend to more vehicles?

It has several error messages including "Stop safely now". This seems to be the same issue as recall 23S56 (TSB 22-2178). The vehicle is not drivable as it will not start or go into gear. Seems to be known issue with the HVBJB.

On Friday 8/18/23 I was driving down a major freeway and my Mach-E jolted violently. I then received a "Stop Safely Now" and "Service Vehicle Soon" message. The vehicle lost all power at this time. Being on a very busy freeway my safety was at risk and I was luckily able to coast over to the right shoulder. The car refused to "start" after pulling over however the 12v battery did work so I was able to use accessories. Once towed to the dealer I was able to confirm a P0AA2 TSB code that indicated that a conductor was stuck open on the high voltage junction box. This was supposed to be fixed by a previous recall software update that FORD uploaded to my car however that was not the case. I am now without a car for 2 weeks but more importantly I am concerned for the safety of other Mach-E drivers as I am reading that this can happen again even after a hardware fix.

The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contactors that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice for my vehicle 22s41. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contactors are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed more robust components that conform to higher electrical standards. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require removal of the part(s) which are KNOWN TO FAIL to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions unable to re-start my vehicle. I would like to see NHTSA strengthen the Ford recall to include both improved software AND removal/replacement of the HVBJB sub-assembly with the new more robust parts.

While returning from vacation, driving home on the highway, our car suddenly stopped working. We had been traveling at approximately 65 mph on SR 1 in Delaware when I accelerated to pass another vehicle and the car suddenly jolted forward and the engine seized. I received a warning to pull to a safe location as soon as possible. Thankfully, we were able to pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway without incident. The cars electrical system gradually shut down, limiting our ability to place the vehicle in neutral for towing. Approximately 250 miles from home and forced to wait more than 2 hours in the 90 degree weather with no AC, we were forced to bring the car to the nearest ford dealership in new castle Delaware. Since the battery and power completely failed, the dealership had to jump the 12 volt battery several times to get the car back in neutral to remove the vehicle from the tow truck. We needed to find our own car rental as neither the dealership nor ford customer service would assist with getting us back home to NY.

A KNOWN faulty camera problem for 100s of Ford EVs. Starts off as very intermediate warnings until it stops working all together. This problem doesn't allow you to use cruise control and a host of other standard safety features. This should be a recall, I can't imagine someone getting hurt or worse because ford isn't getting ahead of this thing.

The car is frequently but intermittently reporting a failure with the front camera: "Front camera fault Service required". When this happens, the adaptive cruise control and other ADAS are disabled, which is a safety hazard while driving the car, especially at highway speeds. This issue began very infrequently in March 2024 and now happens on the majority of trips when driving the vehicle. I took the car to a Ford service center for repair. They did a software update on the car and told me that they were sure that the update would fix the issue. The front camera fault re-occurred within a week after having the software update done.

I am getting a warning in the car that the front camera is failing. The warning includes an error that the front camera failed, and that the forward collision is unavailable. Each time this happens, this causes the cruise control, lane centering and lane departure systems to disengage, which means the vehicles hard brakes at highway speeds when this happens. It disabled forward collision detection when this happens. Ford has TSB for this but when I took it in for repair/replacement they said it wasn't covered by anything and charged for the fix.

Vehicle in Adaptive cruise will unintentionally accelerate when a motorcycle is lane splitting to the right of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to accelerate towards a slowing or stopped vehicle. This puts me and other motorists at risk of a crash.

The electrical system failed. Issue was it disengaged the 12 volt system as well. Vehicle seized and stopped in the middle of a high usage road with no ability to put into neutral. After speaking with Ford, they concede that there must be 12 volt battery power in order to put car in neutral. After 2 hours of blocking traffic The tow truck arrived ( was a rainy day) and within a minute hooked up a 12 volt battery and drove the vehicle off the road way. This is not acceptable and needs to be addressed. My claim number with Ford is: case [XXX]. Thank you. Feel free to contact me in any further information is needed. On October 15, 2023, with my EV battery charged at 69% and about 2 minutes after beginning my drive, I suddenly received a warning on the dashboard which stated "Stop Safely Now". Within 5 seconds, the vehicle would not accelerate and eventually came to a stop. The first episode of this occurred on Sunday, October 15. My car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX, where I purchased the car in March 2022. The vehicle was serviced by Gullo Ford's service department on October 16, 2023. The repair invoice references replacing the electronic parking brake harness connector and reprogramming the battery charge control module per recall on October 16. 2023. I picked the vehicle up from Gullo Ford on the afternoon of October 16. The car worked normally until Monday, October 30, 2023 when the same thing happened. About 2 minutes after starting and driving the car, I received the warning to "Stop Safely Now". The vehicle would not accelerate. My battery was charged over 70% when this occurred. The first time this happened on October 15, 2023, I was able to coast the car into a parking lot, out of traffic. On Monday, October 30, my car did not have enough speed to allow me to coast out of the flow of traffic which left me stranded in my car during rush hour, blocking one lane and the entry to a turn lane. This was a very unsafe circumstance as my car would not accelerate again, leaving me without a way to move out of the flow of traffic. Again, my car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX where it remains at this time. I do not feel safe driving a car which will stop accelerating with only a 5 second notice to "Stop Safely Now". I have no idea when this will happen leaving me stranded in the flow of traffic with no way to move.

Car gave me the high voltage fault that many Mach e owners have reported. Car is in the dealership now and I don’t have the car. Why weren’t these recalled?
Oct 11, 2023
I went to start the vehicle and it gave me a red warning "stop safely now". It was already stopped and would not start at all. It had plenty of charge on the battery pack. It's been at the dealer for nearly two weeks and they have had to order the HVJBC, I believe. I am fortunate that it didn't fail while driving or parked in a place which was inaccessible to a tow truck. The forum I read recommended making a report. This seems to be an all to common problem with this car and can lead to sudden acceleration or deceleration while in motion. Had had received an earlier yellow warning for "service vehicle soon" and took it to the dealership and they assured me they had updated all the software (in the hopes of preventing the "stop safely now" problem). Obviously, that didn't work.

Car reports Camera Fault; forward-facing camera no longer working and adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, emergency braking and collision avoidance systems are all no longer available.
Nov 04, 2024
When driving two errors occur randomly and repeatedly. 1) Front Camera Fault, and 2) Pre-collision Assist inoperative. If driving with using any of the ADAS features, the car immediately begins to slow rapidly although each time it has occurred there has been no obstacle present. In one instance, it was on a freeway at 75 mph speeds nearly causing a severe accident due to the unexpected rapid deceleration. Luckily this was at 10pm at night. Had it occurred during higher traffic volumes I can almost guarantee there would have been a multiple vehicle collision. Researching online, it appears that the manufacturer has issued a TSB 23-2155 acknowledging the problem exists, but they do not see this as a significant enough safety issue to warrant a recall. When the failure causes complete disconnection of all ADAS features and the vehicle to attempt unneeded, unexpected, and unpredictable evasive maneuvers, I believe this to be a significant safety issue. The warning and attempted braking by the vehicle occur on a daily basis.

I have been having Ford try to resolve the safety systems from failing while driving for over 2 years. In October 2023 I took a settlement (hush money) for my time and effort, thinking that the safety systems were fixed. The dealership currently has had my vehicle for over 7 days and will not give it back until they have found a resolution (good for them). The dealer placed a buyback request with Ford Motor Co last week because of the extensive troubles, safety concerns and inability to resolve, however Ford has denied it because of the settlement. I am not wanting money, I am not wanting anything other than for Ford to take the vehicle back and pay off the loan. I have a teenage driver and I am at a point that the safety of this vehicle is putting myself, my daughter and OTHERS at risk every time it is driven on public roads. The lemon law attorney I used for the settlement refuses too help me any further stating the case is closed. I disagree that a vehicle with safety defects is OK to keep driving and that Ford Motor Co is OK with this. There is no short term or long term resolution to this matter, they do not know what is causing the system to malfunction. In every essence this is a lemon.

I am filing this complaint regarding the potential failure of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. There have been many failures reported on the forums some experiencing multiple failures. Ford provided a software update that supposedly predicts an impending failure reducing available propulsion power. I do not feel comfortable driving a vehicle with a ticking time bomb. Losing propulsion power while driving at highway speeds could result in a serious safety senerio. I would like to see Ford provide a real fix.

On May 14, 2022, I stopped twice on a 120 mile trip to recharge my Mach E at a level 3 DC charger. Upon completing each charge, the ring around the charging port turned red and I received a default message. I plugged my car into my home level 2 charger and the car completely locked down and I was unable to reenter the car. I have since learned that this is the classic sign of a HVBJB failure. The dealerships updated the car's programming but did not replace the HVBJB. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components.? ? My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require removal of the part(s) which are KNOWN TO FAIL to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions.

My vehicle was built with under-specked high voltage battery joint assembly bracket. The failure of this connection has caused many incidents whereby the car cannot start, or suddenly stops while driving. The part is either not to original specification or was not designed correctly. In either case, providing a SW fix to simply limit the voltage does not actually prevent or correct the problem. As this fix has rolled out, there are numerous reports of the issue still happening. This is because the fix doesn't fix the original condition, it only serves to limit the scope going forward. But if the part has been in use for 2 years as mine is, then the damage has already occurred and the fix will not prevent my issue. The appropriate fix for the problem is a replacement HVBJB, which Ford is only installing AFTER the incident occurs. This is totally unacceptable and is simply an accident waiting to occur. The SW fix is analogous to the original attempt by GM to correct the Bolt battery fire situation. Eventually, the batteries were replaced, which was the correct response. I am simply demanding that Ford follow a similar path. Consumer stated number for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000.

Per your instructions I'm filling this complaint due to Ford refusing to perform recall 21S42/21V712 Issued on 09-14-2021. I have opened multiple complaints with Ford Corp regarding their dealerships refusal to perform this safety recall in which the roof of my vehicle can fly off during operation. For weeks now I've been trying to get Ford to provide me with a dealership that would perform the recall as I have been refused by 5 local dealerships. Ford tells me "we can't force the dealership to do anything" and have refused to find a dealership that will do this recall and contact me. I have been attempting to get this recall done on and off for 3 years now.

Windshield loose adhesion from paint separation from primer. The Glass windshield in my car had a small chip occur while driving at 40 mph.. about 60 seconds later a crack appeared about 18 inch long lengthwise across the windshield. after being parked will ordering a new windshield the crack grew to 90 percent the horizontal width of the windshield. Later while having the windshield removed for replacement by the owner New View glass in a cool indoor environment we examined the windshield adhesive and found that the paint was peeling off from the primer where the glass adhesive attaches to the car. The strength of the paint or clear coat bond to the primer or car metal is not sufficient to hold in the glass as a structural part of the car body. I am a car dealer so have more windshields replaced that a normal person. It is very unusual to see this condition. I am aware that some 2021 Mustang mach e had a recall for this condition but this VIN was not included in that recall. Perhaps it should have been. The glue just peels off with the clear or paint

The side mirrors in my vehicle are motorized and set to automatically fold in when I lock the car after getting out. They rarely do this (not the issue, and they’re fine mechanically). When I get back in and start the vehicle they are supposed to automatically unfold. 1/3 to 1/2 the time they do not. More than once I have started driving in a parking lot to realize I have no side view mirrors. I have to stop and press the “fold/unfold” button to make them open. With the mirrors closed I am unable to see out them to check blind spots or look for pedestrians or other cars. I have learned to be very careful to check if the mirrors failed to unfold because of this. I have asked my dealer to look at this at least twice (most recently Monday). They can never reproduce it, both auto-fold and unfold work for them perfectly from what they say. That’s quite different from my experience. There are no errors or messages anywhere about this. My car has the most recent software (except possibly 22S41), none of the major or minor updates it has received have ever made a difference.

Ford Dealers are refusing to complete recalls 21V712 and 21V711. To quote an e-mail from O'Meara Ford in the Denver metro area that summarizes my conversations with every other dealership, "I’ve been informed that we will no longer complete the glass recalls on MACH E vehicles. Long story short Ford does not reimburse us enough money to cover these Recalls with our labor and sublet invoices, this may be why other Ford dealers are refusing to do the recalls." Ford is not guaranteeing reimbursement for the new roofs and windshields that all the dealerships need to order before doing the work because there is over a 50% chance they will break upon removal. Ford tells me they can do absolutely nothing (customer service case no. CAS-37570083-G3K5V9) and I told them they could pay more and they said they can't. Meanwhile NHTSA is also doing nothing as this is my second complaint in 2-3 months with nothing being done. I've now had four cancelled appointments from three different dealerships in the Denver Metro area.

Front camera stopped working after a long period of working intermittently (started to happen after passing warranty at 30,000 miles). Without that camera many safety features are disabled, like a front collision warning, lane departure, cruise control with adoptive speed, emergency breaking. The cable and processor issue was confirmed by Ford dealership service.
Oct 10, 2024
Received intermittent warnings that the front collision warning system, cruise control and front camera were not working. The problem I think began after having my roof/windshield removed/reglued under recall. It was intermittent and I could not tell if software updates were resolving the problem, but then the problem became permanent at which time my car was out of warranty. Which does not seem fair since the problem began during the warranty period,. likely as a result of the windshield recall.

Received a front camera fault warning in the car. The fault disables the safety feature of pre-collision-collision assist. Had an independent service center check it out, they let me know there is a TSB from ford. Waiting for the a scheduled appointment.

The 2021 Mustang Mach-E has repeatedly shown these "Pre-Collision Assist" and "Front Camera Fault" errors ever since we got it 6 months ago. The errors can come and go multiple times during any drive. For my wife it is just an annoyance since she never uses Adaptive Cruise. But for me or anyone else using Adaptive Cruise, it becomes a safety concern because this error suddenly cancels the cruise and being an EV it begins regenerative breaking and slowing down much faster than other drivers expect while its driver must react as quickly as possible to return to pedal control. It's my understanding that this is starting to happen on many modern Ford vehicles at around this age and dealership service centers have been given guidance on fixing it. Ours has been in for this service and the error is still occurring.

The front camera system has failed. The cables need replacing, which was diagnosed by a Ford dealer. I have no collision assist, no cruise control, no lane keeping abilities, nothing that has to do with the camera in front. This is a known problem that Ford is not admitting to. All years of the Mach-E are having this issue, frequently. It has put myself and others on the road in danger by not being able to function as it should. Every time I turn the car on I get multiple warnings on the dash concerning these issues. This is not the only problem and safety issue I've had with this car in less than 9 months of owning it. Something must be done to hold Ford accountable.

Bricked Mach E Extended Range with 10K miles and recently completed the roof and windscreen recall the week prior. Went to brunch and then came out to a car that would not start. Warning of "Stop Safely Now" even though the vehicle was driven to the location and then sat for 2 hours and was currently parked and still gave us this message. Low voltage (12 Volt) came in slightly low at 12.6 VDC. Attempted two jumps from another vehicle and a higher amperage tow truck with no change in error code nor would the vehicle "start". We resulted in doing a tow to a dealership for potential repair. Dealership has had it now for going on the third week. They are citing the replacement of the battery bus where the Low Voltage 12 VDC interfaces with the brains and main battery system. This has been cited before in the Mustang Mach E blogs. Replacement part is on hand but the dealership has a specialist being flown in to remedy the replacement part installation. Read in Mach E forums of similar problems where the battery became low and the vehicle was then disabled from engaging the drivetrain. Overall problem gave us pause on ownership and we will qualify for the Lemon Law buyback for CA if it comes to that. Looking to see if repairs will be complete this week.

Vehicle would not start after a brief stop, with a "Stop Safely Now" error. Vehicle could not be shifted out of Park, and could only be shifted into Neutral using the Emergency Tow Mode. This is a known issue that has affected many similar vehicles of the same make, model, and year.

On April 10, 2024, my vehicle experienced a warning message to service vehicle and a sudden loss of power while I was driving on the freeway. The issue was caused by a failure in my high voltage battery junction block. Something that Ford had already issued a software update vehicle to my vehicle for a recall. However clearly the software update was not an appropriate fix for the issue and should not be considered fulfillment of the recall. In fact, Ford has an open recall for the extended battery configuration of my vehicle to proactively replace this defective part. I am reporting this issue to the NHTSA because clearly the software ‘fix’ did not resolve the safety issue AND it’s scary that standard range batteries are neglected from the overall recall that applied to the rest of the model. Ford needs to be proactively addressing this issue for all affected model years, not just certain configurations. Frankly it is wild that the NHTSA accepted a software update as an appropriate recall fix for a hardware component overheating and melting while driving. It didn’t work and should not be considered a fix.
Apr 19, 2024
We came out to our parked car and got a message that said Stop Safely Now. The vehicle would not shift into gear. The dealership had confirmed that the high voltage junction box has failed. We did not get the Service Vehicle Soon warning prior to the failure, despite having had the recall software update applied. The first sign of failure was a loss of motive power. This is a safety issue because loss of motive power while driving can result in loss of control of the vehicle. The loss of heating and cooling combined with the loss of motive power is also a significant safety risk if the failure occurs in a remote location experiencing extreme temperatures. The part has yet to be replaced, but I’m sure Ford will be retaining it for inspection.

Ford released an OTA update for the HVB issue Mach-E were having and leaving drivers stranded. I have seen that even with the update many people are still having the cars break down while driving and needing the High Voltage Battery Connector replaced. I am worried that this may happen to my car one day while driving and could cause an accident or death. Is there anyway to force Ford to fix every car that had this issue before we break down? The temporary fix of software is not good. I think FOrd should be forced to recall all Mach-E and replace the connector before there is an accident that leads to deaths on the road.

The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contactors that known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice for my vehicle 22s41. Any internal damage to contactors is not externally visibley, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, power brakes and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contactors are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships NEED equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only band aid and does not require removal of the parts KNOWN TO FAIL. These parts should be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions unable to re-start my vehicle. I suffered a failure related to this post-recall and had a sudden and permanent loss of power while driving at Texas highway speeds (70mph) in congested morning traffic. Fortunately I was able to make my way off the highway but other conditions could have ended up worse. Software "fixes" are not the solution and the actual problem of the defective parts need to be replaced in the affected models to avoid possible injuries and fatalities from these vehicles.

As the vehicle was braking to a stop at a stoplight the rear motors began chattering. The vehicle stopped and gave multiple error messages including "Shift System Fault" and "Stop Vehicle Safely." It locked the parking brake and could not be moved. It was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection on a county highway. It could not be driven or pushed out of traffic until the error cleared. It was a hazard to the occupants and other drivers on the road. 911 was called to get support with traffic. There was no indication before this failure occurred. It will be going in for service in 2 days. This is the second occurrence of the failure on this vehicle, the previous one at 2011 miles.

The car had an issue with the 12V battery which caused it to be completely disabled and unresponsive to the key fob and phone as a key. My wife had gotten out of the car without knowing this had happened and went to the rear door to let out our infant son, but the door would not open. We called emergency services and roadside assistance. AAA arrived first and tried to open the lock but were unsuccessful. I had to smash the window to open the door and rescue my son. Emergency services arrived after I had already done this. The only reason I know it was an issue with the 12V battery is because the Ford dealership told me after I had the car towed there for inspection. The only way to open the car in this situation is to use a portable jumper to jump two wires hidden in the bumper which open the Frunk. Then you need to jump the actual battery that is located in the frunk. It does not have a mechanical release for the doors. This supposed fix is highly dangerous as it requires one to have a readily available jumper and the 12V battery needs to be completely drained in this scenario. In my case, this didn’t work even when the Ford technician arrived. The only possible way to get in was to break through a laminated glass window which was incredibly difficult to break even with the correct tool to do it.

Occasional blank/inoperative info screen, typically recovers after reset or re-start, but sudden loss of visibility of ALL settings and controls for heat, navigation, and most importantly loss of the ability to enter backup Start code for keyless start can cause possible stranding in dangerous conditions. Loss of control of heating/cooling could cause loss of visibility if defrost is unavailable, or heat stroke if air conditioning is unavailable. My understanding is that re-designed console screens are available to address this known defect in vehicles built prior to June 2022, but no recall has been issued.

My vehicle had the NHTSA Recall Number 22V412 performed 2 weeks ago via an OTA update. Today while driving the vehicle I had critical failure while the vehicle was in motion rendering the vehicle unsafe. The recall should not be considered satisfactory remediation of the issue as it did nothing to prevent this safety concern with my vehicle. Software cannot fix an improperly designed piece of hardware.

When stopped at a stoplight, in unbridled mode with one pedal driving engaged, the car surged forward on it's own. The surge forward caused my vehicle to rear-end another vehicle. I would assume the failure was the one pedal driving system and it is available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected yet, but we have an appointment for a Ford dealer to evaluate the car. The only warning was the pre collision warning which did go off.

There is a software problem which was introduced in a previous OTA which causes drive modes to change. These drive modes are Whisper, Engage, and Unbridle. Each has their own acceleration/throttle response characteristics, as well as steering and suspension feel. You also have the ability to enable one-pedal drive in the drive mode menu. The software bug will randomly throw an error on the main screen that says "Drive Mode Not Available" change your drive mode from Whisper or Unbridle to Engage, affecting the throttle response that can occasionally lead to unintended acceleration. On occasion, it can also lead to disengaging of the one-pedal drive mode at the same time, which can cause the vehicle to not slow down when the foot is lifted off the accelerator. If the driver is unaware that 1PD has become disengaged unintentionally (which cannot be re-engaged without power-cycling the vehicle), it could lead to a crash as the driver is not expecting to use the brake pedal. In a moment's notice situation, it could be deadly. The vehicle has not been inspected, however, this problem has been reported by many other Mustang Mach-E owners. I will link my forum post at the end of this report which has other claims of this fault. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. It cannot be easily reproduced as it is entirely random. Yesterday (11/8/2023 @ 1:40 EST), I was pulling into a parking spot with concrete posts around it. This time, it happened as I was turning into the spot. I was in Whisper mode this time. I noticed the car SPED UP a bit as I was letting my foot off the accelerator, and I had to slam on the brakes. Sure enough, "Drive Mode Not Available" was up on the screen. I was about 1 inch away from this concrete post. If my reaction time was just a bit slower in hitting the brakes, the vehicle would have crashed itself, relatively outside of my control. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/huge-safety-issue-1pd-drive-mode-not-available.31712/

I bought this car in August of 2024. It started having issues with the door lock in September and in December I decided to sell it back to the dealer but was in a car accident on the way to the dealership. Unfortunately the door jamming issue caused repair problems and the auto repair shop could not fix the door issues. I lost the car to the repair shop in a lien sale due to the cost of repair which was over 20,000. In August of 2025 Ford issued a recall which allowed the auto repair shop was able to fix the car and sell it to a dealership. I have contacted Ford several times in relation to the issues with the car and how they caused me to loose the car, but they have not responded despite the promise to do so in 7-15 business days. Loosing this car has caused deep stresses in my life. I have lost several business clients because I'm no longer able to get around. I have had my life impacted to the point of having to relocate. I bought the car outright paying 45,000. Ford has refused to do anything to compensate for my loss.

Hood latch on vehicle failed. When opening hood to access the frunk (either thru manual hood release, or electronic release on car screen), hood unlocks halfway, and then is in a state where it can neither be opened or closed. Car has questionable safety once hood latch is in this state, as it is partially open and will not relatch. My car is currently at dealer for replacement of striker, hood latch, and actuator components under warranty.

On April 19th, I picked up dinner and when I went to leave the parking lot, my vehicle turned on, but did not allow me to move out of park, nor shift into any other gear. I turned the vehicle on and off about ten times to see whether that might allow me to shift into another gear, but to no avail. It was later in the evening, so when I called the Ford customer service line I received an after hours message, and then thereafter I received a call from a Ford customer service center caller saying that they saw I was "stranded" and would send a tow truck to take the vehicle to the nearest Ford mechanic shop. They picked the vehicle up around 11pm in the evening. While the vehicle has had numerous other recalls, (windshield, etc.) I had not received any recall notice related to a battery issue. The dashboard showed a wrench in a car symbol as well as the battery symbol and a note that said "Stop safely now," and "full accessory power active." For the two and a half weeks following, I was not told what was wrong with the vehicle, nor was I provided a courtesy car. When I requested rental coverage, I was informed I would have to call "corporate" in order for them to cover the request, and when I did reach them, I was told that until they diagnosed the vehicle, they could not tell me whether it was my fault or theirs. After weeks of going back and forth, they agreed to cover a Ford rental (that I had to find on my own,) but have still not been given my vehicle as I have been informed that there are program wide software holds on the vehicle that prevent the technician from working on it. My lease ends in another month, and I have not been provided any information as to what my options are, or whether the vehicle will be fixed. I was also informed that I was not eligible for the Ford repurchase program as the vehicle is over the allotted 2 year/24K mile period, but I am extremely frustrated by the lack of care Ford has shown for my safety and ability to get around.

Our vehicle would flash a "Front Camera fault service required" and a "Collision Warning not available" every now and then that started a few months ago. I had it diagnosed by the dealer and they said it would cost me $786.50 to do a major update on IPC, IPMA, PSCM, CCM, CMR, and perform IPMA Alignment per TSB 23-2040. We have to pay this because we are out of warranty. We thought all system upgrades are supposed to be free. Wouldn't this be a flaw on the Mach-e and should be considered a standard safety issue that needs to be corrected at no cost to the car owner? I saw that many owners also have the same issue. Our family including a [XXX] may be at risk because of this. Appreciate your help on this. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mach e standard edition shows multiple signs of a failing High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB). The vehicle was bought certified pre owned with only 12k miles on the vehicle. At 16k miles (2 months of ownership) the vehicle showed a high voltage battery warning and power train malfunction warning. Three warning lights were displayed on the dash which were: a yellow turtle, wrench, and car with exclamation. Vehicle was taken to service department where they ran updates and said the issue was a one pedal drive error and ran a standard osp for a power train update (not related to this power train issue). They made no mention of the battery and power train issue on the service record. 1-2 weeks later and about 1k miles, the same issue repeated. The vehicle was taken to a different dealership where they indicated the car had a over heating charge coupler and unbalanced battery "A". Both of these show a probable issue with the HVBJB. The dealership has been insistent that they can't do anything without a stored code. Prior OSP's updated the car to limit power when contactors in the HVBJB exceeded .5 ohms and would show all the warnings we have seen. The main 12 volt battery was replaced at 1k miles, which Ford did not realize the failure could have been from the HVBJB, as it receives charge from the primary batteries. The dealership and Ford engineers have requested that we drive the vehicle until the safety lights repeat, knowing that this puts us in danger of a larger malfunction that could result in complete loss of power while driving. They say that they cannot work on an issue unless a code is tripped. I suspect a code will not trip as the first two times nothing was stored and the OSP patch that NHSTS requested helps prevent the complete failure. The code will only be stored in a complete failure event, which could lead to an accident. There are current recalls for this HVBJB, however it is only for the higher end models. Out of space :) Thanks

My vehicle has 13,000 miles on it and I have been driving it without any problems until August 12, 2022 when I turned the vehicle on and there was "service now" and a "Battery service" message. I was aware of this problem because it was posted online and Ford has sent me mail about this problem but I thought it could be fixed by an over the air update, which I performed already. So I contacted the nearest dealer to book an appointment to remedy this issue but the next available appointment was on August 31st so it was 2 weeks from then. I decided to give it a shot and drive it and I was able to drive approximately 40 miles before the car shut down as I was turning right on a stoplight on my way to work. The propulsion did not work along with a series of multiple error messages on all systems. I was able to bring the car to the side of the road, in front of a tire service company's parking lot. I tried to start and restart it but to no avail. I called the nearest Ford dealership and they accepted my vehicle so I called a towing service to tow my vehicle to them. I decided to step out of the vehicle and inform the establishment about the situation and that I called a towing service already. When I tried to get in, the doors did not work anymore so I was not able to get in. The towing service arrived and told me to put my car to neutral gear so she can pull it up the bed of the tow truck. I said I could not get in and she stated that she might damage the vehicle if she tried to pull it while it is on park. I had no choice but to agree because I cannot get in the vehicle to change the gear. She had me sign a waiver that states that I accept any possible damages that the vehicle might incur during the towing process. She was able to get the vehicle on the tow truck and deliver it to the dealership I mentioned and now they are trying to repair it. I was aware of this issue beforehand but Ford stated that this issue can be resolved with a simple software update.

I was stranded in a parking lot in the evening when my car wouldn't start. The vehicle displayed a "STOP SAFELY NOW" message and I couldn't get the car to move on its own. This happened on April 13, 2022. My safety was at risk because I was in a parking lot at night and unable to engage my car. I had to call and wait for a tow truck. The Ford dealership, in consultation with Ford engineers, confirmed that it was due to a faulty High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) and it had to be replaced. With the faulty HVBJB, the car was undrivable. The HVBJB was inspected by Ford personnel and determined to be faulty. It was replaced under warranty. There were no other messages or warnings before my car failed to start. No prior symptoms. I drove normally to a store, parked the car, and when I returned to my car it failed to start.

The forward collision detection system failed first. Then the car suddenly would not move and gave a pull over immediately warning on the dash and also flashed a battery light. It was 15 degrees outside and my wife and son were stuck in the cold. Not a safe environment. This is inexcusable for a car to be driving fine on minute and to be completely inoperative the next.

Twice in about a week my 12V battery has died without warning. The car is inoperable and there’s no way to open the car doors or even the trunk and front trunk. We’ve been locked out entirely. Left stranded in parking lots waiting for tow trucks. The only fix is jumping the vehicle’s 12V battery. If this happened while you’re in the vehicle you’d be stuck in the car since none of the accessory functions (including locks) function when this happens.

I had my 2021 Mustang Mach-E updated with the recall software last year. In July of 2022, my High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) still failed, giving me a service vehicle soon and SEVERELY reducing power WHILE driving. I was on the freeway and my car just started reducing speed since I was trying to pass someone and I almost hit them. I received the new HVBJB from my dealer and had been fine since. Then a couple of weeks ago, I received the errors AGAIN with this "new and improved" HVBJB that Ford said is more robust and not supposed to fail. Same thing, on the same freeway I commute (73 toll road in California). I was passing someone and the car hit me with all these errors and SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my power. Like 66% reduction. I had to get back into my lane and was able to get back a safe speed but you basically have no power to pass. This is unacceptable. I received the "new" part and yet get a failure AGAIN? On a normal commute, not at the track, accelerating to show off the EV acceleration, just DRIVING! Please make them fix this for real. My dealer said there was a new bulletin that came out after my first repair that has an updated part number, but it is not a true revised part, meaning the internals are actually differnt, it is more a housekeeping part number update due to something as simple as the sticker being in a different spot, some backend thing, etc. There has been no revision to the components that fail since they "fixed" the part back in 2022.

All of the advanced safety features have stopped working in my Mach E The curse control does not work either the adaptive or the standard. The pre-collision system is not working, lane assit is not working. The absence of these working systems is a danger. The Mach E was designed from the ground up as software driven, the manufacture should be responsible to ensure that the software is up to date.

I keep receiving a fault for the front camera which seems to be a very common occurrence amongst Mach-e owners lately. After receiving this message, the cruise control abruptly kicks off. All functions of the cruise control do not work in this instance…adaptive, speed keeping, lane control, etc. This fault happens about once every couple of minutes while driving. When I’m using cruise control in ‘one-pedal’ drive mode and this fault occurs, the vehicle immediately starts braking. This happened one time as I was entering a narrow bridge in Solomons, MD, and a car behind me nearly rear ended me.

Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. I would like to see NHTSA strengthen the Ford recall to include both improved software AND removal/replacement of the HVBJB sub-assembly with the new 'beefier' parts.

* On October 16th, 2022, at about 7:00 pm, I was driving my 2021 Ford Mach-E GT when we began to change lanes (we were in the left lane heading East) as the vehicle in front of us slowed down to make a left-hand turn. There was a car behind us and two vehicles in the right lane (two-lane road in each direction) that were a few car lengths behind us as we began to change into that lane. When I turned on my signal and turned the steering wheel, I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate to get around the car in front of me to keep my distance from the vehicles in the lane I was transitioning into. Unfortunately, when I pressed the gas pedal, we experienced complete vehicle failure. I had no steering, brakes, or acceleration. Within a short time (30-45 minutes), we had no power as the lights on the vehicle, and all electrically powered devices and components were entirely out. This made it very difficult to tow the car as it is all-wheel drive, and we could not put it in Neutral to pull the vehicle. As this happened, five cars were in the area, and several had to swerve and fly off the road onto the dirt shoulder. We barely missed the car in front of us, and the car behind us had to lock up its breaks not to hit us. Our car gradually slowed down and cost off the road about 50 yards or so after losing power, as it was very difficult to get the vehicle to steer; it took everything I had to turn the wheel to get it off the road. We put on the emergency blinkers, but the vehicle lights flashed erratically inside and outside the car. We had over a dozen warnings flash on our dashboard about vehicle failure. The speakers in the car were making a thumping sound on their own as the car was flashing headlights, brake lights, and flashers on their own and very sporadically. It was like a disco club in the car as all the lights were flashing on and of at a rapid rate. The other cars stoppe and were very angry at us as the screamed at us that we almost caused an accident.

While driving around a curve, my car lost all power and went completely dark. I didn't have brakes, steering, lights or any other functions. My car was completely bricked. This happened before daylight and I didn't have emergency flashers to notify other drivers I was stopped on the side of the road. After waiting for 6 hours for a tow truck, I went and tried to find the problem myself. I found a loose connection. It was the main power feed supplying the fuse box. Once I tightened it up, I was able to start and drive the car. I've attached a picture of the connection I tightened.

The High Volt Battery (HVB) would have a fault in charging sporadically. When this happens, the vehicle can't start. All the alerts for safety features come on and says that it's in accessory mode only. It's no longer in my possession for inspection. It was approved for lemon law buy back and is now owned by Ford Motor Company. They've recognized that the 12v battery drains dead when this happens and they were attempting to replace the ECM module, Battery Control Harness, and the HVB junction box to remedy the issue. My safety was put at risk in terms of when this happened. It was between -25 to -40 when this was occurring and the heat doesn't come on in accessory mode. There was the possibility of frostbite within 5-10 minutes if I didn't seek warm shelter. The problem was reproduced by the dealership where purchased [they have all the documentation on file] as well as multiple people [more than 50+] in other states having the same problems reproduced on their Ford Mach-e vehicles as well at macheforum.com. The vehicle and components were inspected and ultimately bought back the vehicle by the manufacturer. No warnings lamps, messages, or other symptoms appear prior to the failure. They first appear when the vehicle 'decides' to not charge anymore. Since Ford has yet to announce any recalls / notices because of the increasing amount of people having the same issue. I wanted to inform NHTSA because it's just a matter of time before someone does have a risk event because of this.

Some of the driver assistance warning systems may not be operable due to multiple and frequent warning messages. Messages are: Front Camera Fault Service Required; Pre-Collision Assist Not Available; Lane Keeping System Fault Service Required. Ford is unable to correct these making it potentially unsafe. Additionally, they are not covering the attempt to fix this under the extended warranty. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of owners of the same model and year of my car, and subsequent years as well, having this issue with no resolution. There needs to be a recall.

There is a repeated front camera fault that prevents the "Pre-Collision Assist" from working, which could lead to a car accident and possible injury/fatality. It has been to the dealership many times over more than 2 years, and the issue still has not been resolved. The Ford dealer had been able to confirm and reproduce the issue. There is no consistency for when the alert appears on the car that the "Pre-Collision Assist" is not working, but it happens often.

The rear camera has malfunctioned. When the vehicle is put into reverse the area usually covered by the rear cameras is blue with white tire tracks indicating the direction the vehicle will travel. Obstructions such as people or other vehicles are covered in blue and not visible on the screen. The dealer has confirmed the problem and ordered replacements in May. In the meantime I am hesitant to drive this vehicle since there have been a couple of near misses in crowded parking lots. This vehicle is available for inspection. I have not received any communication from the dealer. With safety at risk something needs to be done

The instrument panel center display fell out of the housing today. Keep in mind this display controls things like all HVAC, defrosting, audio, rear cross traffic camera, and is the sole access to the front trunk (frunk). It looks like two seals on the top failed. When driving slightly inclined on a hill, it became detached and was dangling. This caused immediate distraction. The screen did not break. The screen fits back into the casing but there is no mechanism to attach it without complete permanent (ie superglue).

My car has repeatedly had to have rotors replaced due to warping. Between 12,000 and 36,000 miles I’ve had 7 pairs of rotors replaced. After exceeding 50 mph, when braking I decided violent steering wheel vibrations between 43-35 MPH when braking normally. I have service records and video to back up my claim. Ford is calling this “normal wear and tear” however no other 2021 mach-es vehicles in my geographic area have had this issue, in fact none have had to have rotors replaced at all. This is a serious safety issue, occurring approximately every 3,000 miles. This points to a defective vehicle, Ford refuses to cover the repairs now that the vehicle has passed 36,000 miles despite having a verified service record of 7 rotor replacements. The date below is for the most recent issue, it has been going on for a year and a half. Ford clearly doesn’t understand how to fix it, as the same fix has been recommended every time to the same result. I can’t upload the videos but happy to send for additional support of my the defective vehicle assertion, it helps to show how much of a safety issue this is.

Subject: Complaint against Ford Clermont Dealership - Delayed and Unethical Service I am writing this complaint to express my dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Clermont Ford dealership regarding the repair of my vehicle. My name is [XXX] , and on [XXX], 2024, I brought my car to your dealership in Clermont , Florida, due to faulty warning lights indicating a potential crash issue and malfunctioning mirrors. The vehicle drove fine. There was no other issues. I just wanted to get this taken care of. After inspecting my vehicle, Ford of Clermont dealership informed me that someone had backed into my car, causing minor damage that needed to be repaired. Consequently, I entrusted my vehicle to Ford of Clermont dealership for the necessary repairs. However, it has been an incredibly frustrating experience as my vehicle has now been at your dealership for almost a month and a half, with no end in sight. Throughout this period, I have made numerous visits to the dealership to check on the progress of the repairs. However, each time I arrived, the service representative assigned to my case was conveniently either on a break, out to lunch, or absent altogether. To exacerbate matters, the service representative provided me with a Google Voice phone number that he never answered, but would respond to via text message. This unprofessional behavior has left me feeling neglected and unheard as a customer. Despite my persistent efforts, I have been continuously given the runaround by your dealership. Whenever I communicate with the service representative, I am fed excuses about ordered wrong body parts or being incorrect or delayed. Additionally, my requests to speak with a supervisor have been ignored, as no supervisors have reached out to address my concerns. It is worth noting that after posting a negative review on Yelp, I was promptly contacted by the service department, claiming that there is an electrical issue with my veh INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I had my MME in to the local Ford dealership for recent work concerning Ford Recall 23S56 (HVBJB). This work was completed along with numerous other software updates needed as indicated by dealership service department. Shortly after getting car back a "1Pedal Drive Fault - Press Brake Pedal To Reduce Speed" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel and the one pedal function quit working. This feature reset it self after the car was parked overnight. Yesterday while driving over many miles this same warning message appeared to happen again and the one pedal feature quit. This happened while vehicle was traveling in an active school zone very near a crosswalk being used by students. This could have been a very bad situation if not quickly going from one pedal braking to two pedal braking which is needed to stop the car.

This vehicle has 3 outstanding recalls: 21V711, 21V712, 23V687. The car was purchased new from Orchid Isle Ford in May 2021. They are the only electric vehicle Ford Dealer on Hawaii Island (they operate another non-electric vehicle dealership on the island). On [XXX] I had the annual maintenance performed. I requested that recalls 21V711 & 21V712 be done as well. the dealership declined and stated they would call me when they could do those recalls. They have never called. I started calling the dealership every 3 months beginning in Sept 2022. They have always refused to perform those recalls w/o explanation. In February 2024 I called to schedule the 36-month service and have all 3 recalls done. I was advised that the dealership could not do any of the recalls. I was called on Feb 23 by a person identifying themselves as the owner's sister (Mary) promising they'd make things right and asking for two weeks to arrange for the glass recalls to be done. I have had no contact since and have again been told by the service department that they can not and will not perform these recalls at any time regardless of where I bought the car. On [XXX], I emailed Ford Motor Company's CEO James Farley advising his office of the problem in getting three safety recalls performed on Hawaii Island. I have received no response from him, or any of the other emails sent to other officers of the Ford Motor Company nor have I even received an acknowledgment of receipt. At this point, I can only presume that Ford does not care if recalls are done. Recall 23V687 has the potential to strand me on rural roads where there is no cell service. The two glass recalls (21V711 & 21V712) can potentially cause death or serious injury in an accident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Having completed the high voltage junction box recall with the Mach-E a week or so before, I was braking in order to complete a left-turn in one-pedal drive mode (therefore lifting my foot off the accelerator causing the vehicle to slow down). I received a notification as I did so that one pedal drive mode had a fault and was deactivated (this appeared on the screen by the steering wheel). This caused the car to lurch forwards, as it shifted from OPD to standard drive mode. Fortunately no cars were ahead of me and I was able to quickly slow the vehicle by braking, but I'm alarmed as to what would have happened had this been in traffic.

This is a follow up to ODI 11510437 that was filed via the phone in 2/2023 related to now NHTSA Recall 23V687. The vehicle in question experienced exactly the issue described in the recall notice. Our incident was part of the NHTSA investigation. The vehicle had its high voltage battery junction box replaced in +/- March 2023, but the new box was the same design as the old box that is poorly engineered. Notices sent out in Fall of 2023 indicating that there was a recall were not sent to us for this vehicle. Similarly, the notice sent in April 2024 informing Mach E owners to schedule appointments at their dealer was not sent to us for this vehicle. Upon contacting Ford, they indicated that this vehicle is not part of this recall. After insisting on speaking to a supervisor, he claimed that it was now a part of the recall but refused to provide me any written acknowledgment of this. When pressed further he then said that our vehicle was not part of the recall because the part was already replaced. When I explained that the part replace was the same defective part he told me to call the dealership or NHTSA because he would do nothing further. He went on to say that there was nothing further he would or could do, nor would it transfer me to anybody at Ford that could address our unique circumstances. Upon calling NHTSA they advised, (amongst other things), that we file a complaint via this portal.

I drove the car to work with no issues. I left work a little over 9 hours later. I was able to enter car without issues. Turned on car and didn’t notice any issues. My phone connected as usual via CarPlay and I navigated home. Leaving the work area is low speed, so I never exceeded 20 mph and just went by feeling, but once I was on a more open stretch of road, I noticed that the instrument cluster was frozen and the speed it was displaying felt too slow compared to how I felt I was going. In essence, I couldn’t tell how fast I was going. After closer examination (mind you I was driving while figuring this stuff out), I noticed that the instrument cluster would update once in say 10seconds or so (but it was variable). I tried to set cruise control to initiate blue cruise, but I couldn’t tell what speed cruise control was being set to due to this enormous lag. I also wasn’t sure if the system would also exhibit this lag. Finally, I noticed that even the lights indicator for the blinker would refresh very slowly but the audible “click” associated with the blinker was normal. The drive home was very distracted and painful due to this issue. I documented the behavior in a video if needed.

I have experienced multiple powertrain malfunctions since the original recall for this issue was completed back in 2022. Approximately 4-5 of these warnings were temporary and cleared within a few hours or after a visit to the dealer to diagnose. Most dealer visits yielded nothing as the car had cleared the errors and codes it was throwing. In 2021, I experienced a complete vehicle failure with a "Stop Safely Now" and "High-Voltage Battery Warning", right before the original recall was performed. My most recent malfunction has also caused a complete vehicle failure, exactly like what happened in 2021. I am concerned that these issues will continue and eventually happen while driving, creating a massive safety issue.

While driving on the NJ turnpike I notice a grinding noise. I was using 1 pedal drive at the time. Once I disabled the 1 pedal drive. This happened on 8/24/2023. I drove to the dealership and left the vehicle with them to look into the alerts and grinding noise. I called the dealer the next week and was told that the front motor had failed and a replacement was ordered. I reached out today 9.18.23 and learned it was an oil leak that caused the motor to fail and that a new motor was being ordered, the original part number was replaced with the new part. I was told that it will take another month. I do not know if the part was examined by the manufacture. I my odometer was at 45,000. I was concerned while driving to the dealer that I would lose all power.

The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contacts that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only AFTER the damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contacts are damaged. I would like to see NHTSA strengthen the Ford recall to include both improved software AND removal/replacement of the HVBJB sub-assembly with the new 'beefier' parts.

I was driving on the highway (12) in Mandeville, Louisiana and the car (a 2021 all electric Mustang Mach E with only 13k miles) flashed a 'Stop care safely now' sign and then proceeded to power down within 3 seconds of the message. I exited (luckily I was at my exit) and felt the car lose power on the exit ramp. Three signals came up (battery - yet I was at 100% - then a turtle mode and not sure what the third symbol was) and then the car locked up - went into park, would not move or allow me to put into neutral to pull off a very busy highway ramp. I was forced to a dead stop on the ramp (very dangerous). I put on my hazard lights but cars still pilled up all around me, beeping etc. at high rates of speed. I called 911 and the police came out (took about 10 minutes during which time I had to direct traffic around me - again very dangerous) and asked that I move the car but the car would not move or even go into neutral. A DOTD tow truck towed me to a nearby Winn Dixie and then the roadside assistance towed to the Ford Dealer. The Ford Pass app send me the message attached below that said it was forcing a software update and the car would not be able to be used during this update - while the car was in drive and while I was driving it down a four lane highway! Very unsafe considering the car was connected to WIFI at home and that update could have been done at any time - not while driving. There was no notice prior to this that a software update was needed and we have it set for updates to happen at 1 am. The car relies upon software (not firmware) to run and if that fails, the car just locks up. This car should be recalled. I am lucky no one was injured including me trying to direct traffic on a busy high speed highway ramp. The policeman was very frustrated and made me get out of the car. Then the DOTD driver confirmed it would not budge. Thank God this didn't happen while I was in the middle of a 4 lane highway. It would have been like stopping on a train track.

Here recently it has become permanent around the beginning of April 2023, and I no longer have functionality of many safety features including adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, lane assist, crash prevention warning, automatic braking, or even regular cruise control (if I try to turn off the adaptive cruise in the settings regular cruise control still does not work), automatic bright lights don't work. I have been trying to get this resolved since I purchased the car but despite a dozen or so trips to the dealership I cannot seem to get it fixed. I've attached a screenshot of some of the dozens (hundreds?) of error messages I have received through the Ford app with the car, which note pre-collision assist is not available. The hands-free steering control Does not give a loud warning or much notice as it shuts off quickly as it did to me as I switched from southbound 805 to southbound 163 in San Diego. The hands-free steering veered off of the 163 entrance ramp towards the crash barrels and I was barely able to get control and avoid a crash. About 5 miles further down the road as it was going hands-free on 163 underneath interstate 8 and there is a curve to the left but my vehicle kept going straight and I barely missed other cars in the next lane as the hands-free steering suddenly stopped with no loud notice. Luckily, I was paying very good attention which is hard to do when you’re talking to other people in the car and driving hands-free. I had less than two seconds notification to take full control and avoid a wreck. My brother was a passenger as I was taking him to the airport. In the past I have been qualified as a professional racecar driver and I have a masters in mechanical engineering and have much experience with electronics as I produce electric vehicles . I also owned a Tesla model three for a couple years and the autonomous driving was scary on it at times. My wife would not let me put it on autonomous as these vehicles are back-and-forth in their lane so much that passengers get scared. I am selling my 2021 mustang Mach-E before it kills me. I love the car and the handling and acceleration but after the dealer installed this hands-free, I am scared. The two incidents today and several other minor ones before tells me there’s a lot of development still needing to be done before these hands-free and autonomous devices are allowed on even Controlled access freeways.

You cannot get the gear cluster to turn...at all. Car will not turn off either. If this happens on a highway, it could be life endangering. First time it happened I was in Charlotte and Ford Dealer (Capital Ford) said it was 12v battery issue. Said they fixed it. I took it in to Palmetto Ford in Charleston to have it investigated further and they said it was fixed. That was two weeks ago. Now it's happened again. In second incident on May 20, I called for towing. As truck showed up, my car started normally (i had tried several other times before). I am still taking into Palnetto Ford Dealer. The Ford Motor Company needs to fix this before someone is killed. Documenting this for myself and others. This is happening to other Mustang Mach E...because I have seen the issue written about in online forums. The problem onset is sudden and catastrophic, meaning the car just dies. First time I was on a busy road traveling 30mph and managed to roll into a parking lot. Had their been traffic I could have been hit. Second time, I was in a parking lot traveling 5 mph and blocked an entire lane for 10min. To emphasize: two dealers looked at vehicle after incident 1 and said issue was fixed. Now I have to go back into Dealer again. Thank you for investigating.

While parking in a garage the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated and ran into a wall. Anyone in or around the car may have been seriously ignored. The issues has happened twice but can not be reproduced by me. There we no indicators that the event was about to take place There is a recall for this on the vehicle type but not for the date of my manufacturing.

Second time this has happened. A message will pop up saying “please stop safely now” once you stop you can not get it out of park. If your driving you are stuck wherever you are. I was stranded the first time with no heat in 20 degree weather. They fixed it after having it for a month then it just happened again today in 80 degree weather with my kids in the car. This has happened to multiple other people as well.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1 complaint
At around 600 miles my vehicle displayed "high voltage battery warning" and "powertrain malfunction" dashboard warning lights. Each light had an associated description that indicated the vehicle's power could fail at any time. This is a 1st model year all electric vehicle. The fact this occurred within 1k miles of ownership is concerning. I took it to a local Ford dealer, ultimately they replaced the high voltage battery junction box and battery electronic control module.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
1 complaint
The vehicle started saying a door was ajar without indicating which one. Sometimes we would get an intruder alert while the car was plugged in at work but nothing was open or unlocked. Occasionally the passenger door would open on its own after turning off the car. Now we get a door fault alert after starting the car. We have contacted a local dealer as well as our purchasing dealer but both indicate. Month before they can see the car due to lack of qualified techs. Today, 4/26/2022 the passenger door opened on its own while at highway speed. Only the driver was in the car. The driver had to reach over to rematch the door. A dealer appointment was set two weeks prior for 5/12/2022.

SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
1 complaint
While driving on a mountain pass, my 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicle lost all regenerative braking which, due to the downhill grade, caused a sudden and shocking increase in speed, played warning chimes, and displayed "Stop Safely Now" and "1-Pedal Drive Fault Press Brake Pedal To Reduce Speed" and lost all drive power, forcing me to coast to a stop on the side of the mountain, in an area without cellular coverage to call for help. The vehicle did not restart and would not shift out of Park in 5 attempts to restart. After 10 minutes on the side of the road, the vehicle restarted without issue and no error messages remain in the vehicle.

WHEN I START UP THE CAR, AND THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 50 DEGREES, THE "PRE-COLLISION ASSIST" IS NOT AVAILABLE, THE "PARK AID" MALFUNCTIONS AND THE "BLIND SPOT DETECTION WITH CROSS TRAFFIC" IS INOPERATIVE....THE ALERTS ARE ON THE DASH, AND COME AS ALERTS TO MY PHONE. THE CAR CAN STILL BE DRIVEN. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE "SERVICE" DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE MARCH 16, AND I HAVE NO WORD ON WHEN IT WILL BE RETURNED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2/26, 2/27, 3/2, 3/4, 3/5, 3/6,3/7,3/10 AND 3/12. AND, TWICE, WHILE DRIVING AT WARMER TEMPS., THE "FRONT COLLISION ALERT" HAS SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE DASH, AND THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME.
