TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ENGINE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, ENGINE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. STEAM ROLLED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. DISCOVERED CRACK IN MANIFOLD WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THERMOSTAT HOUSING. COOLANT DRIPPING ON THE ENGINE; I DO NOT KNOW IF INTERNAL COMPONENTS ARE DAMAGED. RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL AND THAT FORD CORRECTED THIS IN SUBSEQUENT MODELS BY CHANGING MANIFOLD TO ALUMINUM FROM THE PLASTIC. FORD WILL NOT HONOR RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. THEY ARE CLAIMING THAT MY VEHICLE ISN'T ON THE RECALL DESPITE THE FACT THAT MY CAR CONTAINS THE SAME PART THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE PLASTIC TRANSITION PIECE BETWEEN THE THERMOSTAT AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILED CAUSING COOLANT TO FILL FOUR OF THE SPARK PLUG WELLS AND CAUSING THE CAR TO MISS VERY BADLY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE INTAKES AND A RECALL IS IN PLACE FOR SOME OF THEM. MINE IS THE SAME PART NUMBER AS THE RECALLED ONES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLED ONES BUT NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG GT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND STEAM WAS ESCAPING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC RISER ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE MANIFOLD AND THE HEATER HOSE WERE FRACTURED AND WATER WAS LEAKING FROM THE HEATER HOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO ATTACH THE HOSE BACK ONTO THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE INTAKE GASKET WAS LEAKING ANTI FREEZE AND WATER WHERE THE MANIFOLD WAS ATTACHED TO THE CYLINDER HEADS. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS FRACTURED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE SPARK PLUG IS POPPING OUT OF THE SOCKET , THIS WAS A PROBLEM THAT I HAVE REPLACE ONCE ALREADY WITH IN THE YEAR. ALSO THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE ROOF ON THE CAR. TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THE VEHICLE HIT A GUARD RAIL AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED A FEW DAYS AFTER THE CRASH AND THEY FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE DEALER DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE TO BE DRIVEN. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND SOMEONE OUT TO DIAGNOSE IT. NO ONE HAS GONE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER. THERE WERE MAJOR INJURIES, THE DRIVER SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND SPRAINED HIS SHOULDER. THE WINDSHIELD AND FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ON MAY 30, 2005, OUR DAUGHTER WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT IN HER 2000 FORD MUSTANG. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE EXITS WEREN''T CLEARLY MARKED, SHE DROVE OVER THE SIDEWALK, RESULTING IN APPROXIMATELY A FOUR INCH DROP OFF. AFTER WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, SHE ACCELERATED TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT AND BOTH OF HER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. SHE WAS FORTUNATE THAT A POLICE OFFICER WITNESSED THIS INCIDENT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OFFICER, I WAS ASSURED THAT SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. I ALSO REVIEWED PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE AREA TO VIEW TO SEE THE DROP-OFF AND CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A ''HIGHWAY POT-HOLE'', WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS.

SEAT BELTS

Drivers side and passenger (front) seatbelts no longer operational. They do not retract and they do not lock in place -- this is a safety issue. We attempted to get them replaced, but our Ford dealer has confirmed the drivers side belt has been discontinued. We have no recourse here.

AS MANY HAVE SAID THE PASS. SIDE SEAT BELT IS JAMMED UP, CANNOT BE USED. EVEN IF YOU SPEND RIME AND COMPLETELY STRAIGHTEN EVERY THING OUT IT WORKS MAYBE ONCE AND JAMS UP AGAIN. THE COMPLAINTS ARE LEGIT. THIS CAR HAS 80,134 MILES ON IT.

MY CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. MY FRIEND TOOK OFF HIS SEAT BELT AND AS IT WAS RETRACTING, IT LOCKED. I TRIED TO PULL ON IT TO SEE IF IT WOULD UNLOCK AND IT WILL NOT BUDGE ONE BIT. IT IS LOCKED ABOUT HALF WAYS.

The contact owns a 1965 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle unintendedly reversed on an incline of a parking lot and struck another parked unoccupied vehicle. There was no injury sustained. The contact stated that the vehicle was not designed with air bags. The vehicle sustained fenders, bumpers, and paint damage. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had unintendedly shifted from park(P) to reverse(R). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. The VIN was not available.

JUST RECENTLY I HAD TO HAVE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REBUILT & A NEW PLANETARY GEAR INSTALLED. THERE WAS NO WARNING - THE VAN JUST SIMPLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. COMPLAINT ON MY 2000 FORD MUSTANG COUPE(ORGINAL OWNER ). VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS RELATING TO THE POSITION OF THE CARPET AROUND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AFTER MINIMAL USE OF THE VEHICLE ( 5000 MILES OR AROUND 3-5 MONTHS OF USE) A LARGE HOLE DEVELOPED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IF THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED FULLY OR ALMOST FULLY THE SIDE OF YOUR SHOE CAN CATCH ON THE HOLE LONG ENOUGH TO POSE A SAFTEY HAZARD OF NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE YOUR FOOT IMMEADATLY OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND HAVE TO BE VERY CONCIOUS OF MY FOOT POSITION ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN DRIVING TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM NOW THAT I AM AWARE OF IT. I CONTACTED FORD ONCE IN JAN. '05 AND AGAIN IN FEB. '05 ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH ON MY 2000 EXPEDITION. THEY SAID I WOULD GET IT IN THE MAIL SHORTLY. ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ASAP AT THEIR COST NOT MINE.

I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO HAVE THE CATALITIC CONVERTER FIXED..AND THEY SAID THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM BUT IN TALKING IT OVER WITH MY BROTHER (WHO IS A CAR MECHANIC) HE DIDNT THINK THAT THE CATALITIC CONV. I NOTICED A FUEL LEAK WHEN I FILLED UP MY TANK. IT WAS QUITE BAD! AND WAS A DEFINITE SAFETY RISK! I CHECKED UNDER CAR AND FOUND THE FUEL NECK HAS A PLASTIC COVER TO PROTECT FROM ROAD HAZARDS?? THAT PLASTIC COVER ALLOWS DIRT AND MOISTURE TO COLLECT AROUND THE FUEL NECK. THE NECK INSIDE WAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THERE IS ESSENTIALLY A 2 INCH HOLE IN THE FUEL NECK! I HAVE WRITTEN TO FORD CONCERNING A FUEL LEAK ON MY 2000 MUSTANG. I WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO MY DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK WAS RUSTED OUT AND HAD A HOLE IN IT DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF A SHIELD ON THE TUBE. THE SHIELD HELD IN DIRT AND WATER WHICH ALLOWED IT TO RUST. IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $431.35 TO REPAIR. THIS PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A DESIGN FLAW BY FORD. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I CANNOT PUT GAS IN MY CAR WHEN MY CHILDREN ARE IN IT FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL CATCH ON FIRE. THE GAS JUST POURS OUT ONTO THE PAVEMENT. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS IMMEDIATELY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FORD?S MISTAKE. I HAVE A COPY OF THE INVOICE AS WELL AS THE REPAIR QUOTE FROM RAMEY FORD IN JOHNSON CITY,TN. I WILL FAX IT TO YOU IF YOU WISH. DURING A RAINY DAY I FOUND WATER LEAKING INTO MY EXPEDITION THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND THE TRIM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AS THE THEFT LIGHT WAS BLINKING. WHEN WE WOULD GET IT STARTED AND THEN ONCE IT WAS TURNED OFF, THE HEAT/AIR WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. ALSO, THE ODOMETER NUMBERS WOULD BLINK. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BOTH THE SUNROOF AND WINDSHIELD WERE LEAKING AND THE GEM MODULE AND FUSE BOX WERE DESTROYED. DETAILS: THE VINYL COVERING ON THE DASHBOARD IS PEELING AWAY FROM THE UNDERLYING STRUCTURE. IT HAS, OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 5 MONTHS, PEELED BACK FAR ENOUGH THAT IT OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD DEFROST VENT TRIM NO LONGER FITS INTO PLACE. THE DEFROSTER NO LONGER WORKS PROPERLY, AS THE VINYL NOW OBSTRUCTS THE AIR FLOW. THE VINYL IS ALSO IN SUCH A POSITION AS TO POTENTIALLY IMPEDE THE FUNCTION OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE DASH, FORD WILL NOT COVER THE FULL COST OF THE REPLACEMENT ($1200). THE DASH ON A 4 YEAR CAR SHOULD NOT WARP SO BADLY IT LOOKS LIKE A PRINGLES CHIP. WHEN I ARRIVED BACK TO MY VEHICLE, EVERYTHING FROM THE ENGINE TO THE DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETLY BURNT. WHAT A SURPRISE WHEN YOU COME BACK FROM DINNER. I SPOE TO THE WITNESS WHO MADE THE 911 CALL. SHE STATED THAT SHE HEARD A POPPING NOISE, BUT IGNORED IT UNTIL SHE GOT TO HER DOOR AND HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN. SHE STATED THAT WHEN SHE TURNED AND LOOKED, SHE SAW SPARKS COMING FROM THE FRONT GRILL, SO SHE WENT INSIDE TO CALL THE POLICE. THE WITNESS STATED THAT AS SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE POLICE, SHE LOOKED OUT OF THE WINDOW, TO DISCOVER THERE WERE FLAMES TO THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING. MY TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN HOURS, AND THE LAST TIME THAT IT WAS DRIVEN, IT WAS TO THE STORE ON THE CORNER. THERE ARE ABOUT 13 SMALL CRACKS IN THE PAINT ON THE ROOF WHERE IT IS PEELING, AND OTHER SPOTS ON THE HOOD AND FRONT BUMPER. I HAVE BEEN TO MY DEALER 4-5 TIMES TO ATTEMPT REPAIR AND FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT, ONLY TO GET THE RUNAROUND. A FORD REP SUPPOSEDLY LOOKED AT IT, AFTER FORD OFFERED TO PAY HALF THE $400 ESTIMATE, BUT THEY HAVE NOT MADE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT ME. THE DEALER IS MOSSY FORD IN SAN DIEGO, CA. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT FORD REPAINTED MY VEHICLE BEFORE SELLING IT TO ME AS "NEW". THE THICKNESS IS 10MM ON THE PAINT; AVERAGE IS 3-4. A REPAINTED CAR IS OBVIOUS UPON INSPECTION OF PAINT SPECIALISTS. RUST FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE HAS "POPPED UP" AND CRACKED THE PAINT COMING FROM THE INSIDE.

MY GAS TANK BEGAN LEAKING FUEL BEFORE I DROVE IT IN THE FIRST PART OF 2011. NOT ONLY WAS THE GROMMET CORRODED BUT THE FILLER PIPE WAS LEAKING. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE LEAK IN THE PIPE BECAUSE OF THE PLASTIC TUBE AROUND IT AND WAS LED TO BELIEVE IT WAS EITHER JUST THE GROMMET OR THE TANK ITSELF. I GOT THE GROMMET REPLACED AND THEN THROUGH PROCESS OF ELIMINATION FOUND THAT THE PIPE NEEDS REPLACING AS WELL. THE REPLACEMENT PROCESS WAS SO EASY BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MUSTANGS FROM '99-'04. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT BECAUSE THE GAS LEAK CAN CAUSE GAS VAPORS TO GET TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND IGNITE EASILY. GAS VAPORS ARE LIGHT BUT STILL HEAVY ENOUGH TO WHERE THEY WILL NOT DISPERSE COMPLETELY FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. GAS ALSO EVAPORATES VERY QUICKLY SO THIS COULD HAPPEN IN THE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME IT TAKES TO FUEL YOUR CAR. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED ON MAY 03, 2003 FROM RAMEY FORD IN TAZEWELL, VA AND UNDER THE TERMS THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE CLUTCH FOR VIBRATION. UPON CHECKING THE CLUTCH, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CLUTCH ROD NEEDED REPLACED AND THIS WAS COMPLETED. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK THE FIRST TIME, I HAVE GONE THROUGH AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH MAKING A VIBRATION/RATTLE TYPE NOISE THAT COMES AND GOES EVEN AFTER THE PRESSURE PLATE, THROW-OUT BEARING, AND FLY-WHEEL WERE REPLACED. ALSO, FOR 3 1/2 TO 4 MONTHS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WOULD COME ON PERIODICALLY AND START BLINKING AND THEN GO OFF, THIS HAS FINALLY STOPPED AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS AT FIXING THE PROBLEM, AFTER THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED AND A COIL PACK WAS CHANGED. FOR A CAR THAT LOOKS BRAND NEW INSIDE AND OUT, THESE CONSTANT PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN VERY TROUBLESOME AND AGGRAVATING ESPECIALLY AFTER 6 REPAIR ATTEMPTS (GOING ON 7).

MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEMS. WAS REPLACED/REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP AND RETURNED. BRAKE STILL MAKES FUNNY NOISE AND IS STILL "MUSHY" WHEN APPLIED. FUEL INJECTION HAS BE REPAIRED 4 GOING ON 5 TIMES NOW. ENGINE MAKES A PINGING/DIESEL SOUND WHEN DRIVEN AT CONSTANT RATE OF SPEED. SOMETIMES AT 30 MPH, SOMETIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, INJECTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND STILL NOT FIXED. AT IDLE/STOP CAR JUMPS FORWARD WITHOUT ACCELORATOR APPLIED.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 10/7/99 AND HAVE BEEN TAKING IT IN FOR SERVICE SINCE 10/12/99 THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT FIXED ANY OF THE PROBLEMS W/THE CAR, IN FACT MY CAR KEEPS GETTING WORSE. THE ROOF ITS SELF LEAKS AND WHILE REMOVING THE HEADLINER THE DEALERSHIP CAUSED DENTS AND CREASES IN MY ROOF. THEY STILL HAVEN'T REPAIRED THE DENTS OR THE LEAK. ALSO, THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN GOING OUT SINCE DAY 1 CAUSING A FIRE SMELL WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS THE SPARKS HITTING THE CATALITIC CONVERTER AND CAUSING PROBLEMS W/THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR SPARK KNOCKS CONSTANTLY, DIES WHILE DRIVING, SMELLS LIKE ITS ON FIRE AND HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO GEAR. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO "TRY TO FIX IT " AS THEY HAVE TRIED FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS BUT ANY REPAIRS THEY MAKE WILL NOT BE WARRANTIED. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! I HAVE CONTACTED A LOCAL TV STATION, WRITTEN A LETTER TO FORD, TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP OWNER, CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILLED OUT A FORD SURVEY. AFTER ALL OF THAT, NO ONE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ME.

WHEN I COME TO COMPLETE STOPS, (E.G. @ A RED LIGHT) THE TACHOMETER SLOWLY RISES TO 3,000 - 3,500 RPM'S AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHAKES AND ROARS AS IF I AM ACCELERATING. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 35 TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL OCCURRENCE ON 12/19/1999. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE 02/29/1999. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS SIX TIME TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED: AIR BYPASS VALVE, IAC (3 TIMES - THEY CLAIMED EACH ONE, INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL WAS FAULTY), ON BOARD COMPUTER. YET THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. FORD HAS FINALLY AGREED TO REACQUIRE MY VEHICLE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER 2000 MUSTANG GT OWNERS (ALL WITH VEHICLES BUILT IN 09/1999) THEY ALSO HAVE IDLE ISSUES. THE TWO I HAVE SPOKEN WITH HAVE A REVERSE PROBLEM. THEIRS IDLE SO LOW, THE VEHICLE STALLS. I THINK FORD SHOULD LOOK INTO THE GT'S THAT WERE BUILT EARLY IN THE MODEL YEAR. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANYTHING WITH THE GT'S BUILT LATER IN THE YEAR. *AK
