TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BLACK MICRO FIBERS WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE VENTS THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

ALL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN STATING THAT VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 12/19/04 HAVE THIS PROBLEM. A ENGINE CYLINDER WITH NO COMPRESSION. FORD IS AWARE BUT DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I PARKED THE CAR ALONG THE CURB AT UCLA AND SPENT THE NIGHT AT THE DORMS. THE CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE, I DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING DIFFERENT AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. WHEN I AWOKE THE FOLLOWING MORNING A FRIEND AND I WERE HUNGRY SO WE DECIDED TO GO TO MCDONALD'S. IT WAS APPROX. 1.5 - 2 MILES AWAY. WHILE WE WERE SITTING IN THE DRIVE THROUGH, I STARTED TO HEAR A LOUD NOISE, KIND OF LIKE A BELT SQUEAKING INSIDE THE HOOD. I COULDN'T TELL IF IT WAS FROM MY CAR OR THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF ME, SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE NOISE STOPPED. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON HOWEVER, THE NOISE GOT UNBEARABLY LOUD AND SOUNDED LIKE METAL ON METAL, AND WE NOTICED THE AROMA OF SOMETHING BURNING. I EXITED THE DRIVE THROUGH AND STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. I LOOKED AT THE GAUGES, AND THE OIL, BATTERY AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES WERE ALL WHERE THEY NORMALLY SHOULD BE, BOUT IN THE MIDDLE TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE HALFWAY MARK...WELL...THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AND I ASSUMED THEN THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I KNEW THERE WAS A GAS STATION UP AHEAD, SO I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN, IT HAD SOME PROBLEMS STARTING UP, BUT THEN FINALLY STARTED AND I WAS GOING TO DRIVE THE BLOCK REMAINING TO THE GAS STATION. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THERE WAS A LOUD POP UNDER THE HOOD, AND ALL THE GAUGES DROPPED AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT COAST TO THE SIDEWALK, WHEN I EXITED THE CAR, THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE GROUND, LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE AND I NOTICED THAT UNDER THE HOOD, THE PLASTIC CAP THAT WAS COVERING THE PISTONS (I ASSUME) WAS CRACKED...THERE WAS SMOKE EVERYWHERE. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME, HE SAID THAT SOMEHOW SOMETHING CAME UNLOOSE FROM THE ENGINE AND SHOT UP THROUGH THE PISTONS AND THAT'S WHAT BROKE THE PLASTIC CAP. HE SAID HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE IN HIS 30 YRS OF SERVICE. *TR

IT'S AS THOUGH YOU TRY TO PUSH IT WHILE NOT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE BUT WE ARE STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. WE TRY JIGGLING AND PUSHING AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF FIGHTING WITH IT, IT STARTS WORKING FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE IT SOMEWHERE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD FOCUS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE FROM THE PARK POSITION. IN ORDER SHIFT INTO REVERSE HE HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND ALLOW IT TO SLOWLY ROLL BACKWARDS. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE HE ALSO NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 6TH GEAR. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.

MY 03' MUSTANG SPIT THE SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE HEAD,AGAIN, TAKING ALL THE THREADS WITH IT. NOW IT IS UNABLE TO RUN DO THE FACT IT HAS A MISSING PLUG. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS OUT OF THEIR HANDS DO TO NOT BEING UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER. FORD MOTOR CO. SAID THEY WILL NOT FIX THE CAR,IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. SORRY THE SPARK PLUG WAS EJECTED OUT OF THE HEAD. WE CAN NOT FIX IT UNLESS YOU PAY FOR PARTS/LABOR OUT OF YOUR POCKET. The Belt Strap will get twists along the length. The Body Pillar clip refuses free movement. This is aggrevating for a Driver in the Seat. Driver in vain pushes Power Seat back to allow the Belt to clip into Latch at the Console. Reality. The car is 22-yrs old. Owner expects indifference by the local Ford shop. Both a neighbor & the Owner had a hard time about service. What does the Owner thinks a good solution? Late Model Restoration is this Model's best parts hope. A indy-body shop near the home of the car a repair alternative. Owner is [XXX] in a [XXX] & uses the Car as a Daily Driver. May be able to upload images of the car. I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT IF I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, THIS SLACK WILL PERMIT INJURY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING. ALL DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE AND THEFT LIGHT WAS BLINKING. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT DURING THE TIME I WAS DRIVING. I ENDED UP GETTING PUSHED OFF THE FREEWAY BY THE CHP. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALER, AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED TO ME, THAT A WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS MOUNTED ABOVE THE CAT CONVERTER, AND THE WIRE SHORTED OUT. WHATEVER WAS HOLDING THE WIRE IN PLACE MUST HAVE CAME OFF, AND THAT OVER TIME THE WIRE SHORTED OUT BECAUSE THE WIRE HARNESS WAS RESTING ON THE VERY HOT SURFACE OF THE CAT CONVERTER. THE DEALER TOOK PICTURES, AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY PUT SUCH A VITAL WIRE HARNESS DIRECTLY ABOVE SOMETHING THAT GETS EXTREMELY HOT. I WAS LUCKY, BUT SOMEONE ELSE MY NOT BE SO LUCKY. NO WARNING LIGHTS AND A CAR JUST SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I HOPE YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND NOT JUST THE YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR. I HAVE A 2003 FORD EXCURSION DIESEL TURBO 6.0 ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE THE ABOVE DATE FOR A/C PROBLEMS & SHUTTING OFF ON ME. I OWN A 2003 MACH1 MUSTANG. THERE IS SIGNIFICANT WEAR TO THE CARPET NEXT TO THE GAS PEDAL AND JUST ABOVE THE CLUTCH PEDAL. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES. THE DEALER SAYS THAT IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THE CARPET HAS FALLEN DOWN ABOVE THE GAS/BREAK/CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY AS WELL AS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD MUSTANG. THE VEHICLE HAS SUMITOMO HTRZII TIRES, SIZE 315/35/R17. THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED IN MARCH OF 2009. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT STRUCK A ROUNDED CURB. THIS CAUSED A LARGE SLIT IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRES. THE DAMAGE WAS INEXPLICABLE BASED ON THE NATURE OF THE IMPACT. SEVERAL TIRE DEALERS STATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS TYPE OF FAILURE NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THAT PARTICULAR TIRE BRAND AND MODEL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 200 MILES FOR THE TIRES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 48,000. I HAD A SIMILAR TIRE DEFECT, COINCIDENTALLY, WITH ANOTHER SET OF BFG-KD'S THAT WERE ON MY ROUSH CONVERTIBLE. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME THAT TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE I WAS ON THE ROAD FROM THE PORT IN FLORIDA TO MY NEW DUTY STATION IN TEXAS. ANYWAY, I GOT IN TOUCH WITH BF GOODRICH CORPORATE AND INITIALLY ONLY OFFERED 50% REIMBURSEMENT OF ALL FOUR TIRES. LATER THAT CHANGE TO 75% THEN THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THEM WITH 4 NEW BFG-KDS IN MY ROUSH-OEM SIZES. THEY CLAIM THAT DUE TO TREAD WEAR THEIR WARRANTY ALLOWS FOR THAT COMPENSATION. MY POSITION WAS THAT I SHOULD RECEIVE 100% REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE WHETHER OR NOT THE TIRES HAD X% OF TREAD REMAINING OR WERE NEW, THE FACT REMAINS THAT THEY WERE STILL DEFECTIVE. I WAS TURNING ON TO MY STREET WHEN I HEARD AVERY LOUD BANG AND MY CAR STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. AS I SAT THERE IN SHOCK IT APPEARED THAT MY CAR WAS TILTED DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE. WHAT COULD I DO BUT HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. I HAD TWO NEW FRONT COIL SPRINGS PUT ON (I WASN'T TAKING ANY CHANCES WITH THE OTHER SPRING), A NEW SWAY BAR, A NEW STRUT MOUNT AND BEARING PUT ON AT A COST OF $444.64. I HAD JUST COME OFF OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MPH. IF THE SPRING WOULD HAVE BROKEN THERE, I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN. I STILL HAVE THE BROKEN SPRING. I HAVE REPLACED ONE AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH IT. JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE CD PLAYER TO WORK AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK TODAY AND WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I WENT TO LET OFF THE GAS THE PEDEL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR....I DID NOT GET THE CAR TURNED OFF UNTILL ALMOST 100 MILES PER HOUR....THEN, AT THAT SPEED WITH NO POWER BRAKES AND STEERING...I ALMOST SLAMED INTO THE FOUR CARS AHEAD OF ME..( I MISSED THEM BY JUST A FEW FEET)..WITH THE E-BREAK ON AND PUSHING AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE BRAKES I MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE ABOUT 1500' DOWN THE ROAD. UPON INVESTIGATING THE CAR I FOUND THE REASON FOR THE STUCK THROTTLE WAS THAT THE PEDEL HAD STUCK UNDER THE EDGE OF THE CARPET BY THE PEDEL (BOTTOM). I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND THE WIFE MIGHT NOT HAVE THOUGHT QUICK ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT TO DO AND MY KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR. I KNOW FOR SURE IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN ALOT LONGER FOR HER TO STOP THAN ME. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. THE CARPET SHOULD BE UPDATED AND THE CARPET SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH BETTER FIT IN THE GAS/BRAKE/CLUTCH AREA. THIS IS EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE MOST THESE CARS PUT DOWN 380 HP AT THE WHEELS!

I BOUGHT A 03 FORD MUSTANG FROM BOB MCCORMICK FORD IN HUGHESVILLE PA. MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR WAS IT HAD A SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE CAR SO THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS ON THE REAR END.THIS SEEMED TO GET RID OF MOST OF THE NOISE BUT NOT ALL OF IT THEY ARE CHECKING IT OUT AFTER THEY FIX THE GAS LEAKAGE PROBLEM. NOW THIS CAR HAS 24,480 MILES ON IT AND NOW HAS A GAS LEAK PROBLEM AROUND THE NECK AND THE GAS TUBE LEADING TO THE FUEL TANK.THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE A SEAL AROUND THE NECK AND SEE IF IT STOPS THE LEAK.*AK

2003, COBRA SVT CONVERTIBLE, THE CAR STALL WHEN DECELERATING TO A STOP WHEN THE TAKEN FROM A GEAR TO NEUTRAL WITH THE CLUTCH IN/OUT AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO HAVE THIS OCCUR ON A TEST RIDE, THEY HAD NO ANSWER TO WHY THIS HAPPENS. THEY ADDED A DEVICE THAT I HAVE TO PUSH WHEN THIS OCCURS SO I CAN CAPTURE A PICTURE OF THE CARS COMPUTER IS DOING WHILE THIS OCCURS. I HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF OTHER 03 COBRA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO HAVE A TSB ON THIS SOON THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN PRODUCTION OVER A YEAR. THIS CAUSES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, LOSING POWER BRAKES AND STEERING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARK PLUG WAS MISSING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHILE TIGHTENING BOLTS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THE VEHICLE EJECTED ANOTHER SPARK PLUG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOLLINGSWORTH RICHARDS FORD WHERE THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL, THE ENGINE HEAD CYLINDER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT, DUE TO THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 167,000.

WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE I HEARD WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A POPPING SOUND AND THEN EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. I EXITED OFF THE INTERSTATE AND BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN. MY VEHICLE FELT AS IF MY TORQUE CONVERTER WAS SLIPPING AND THAT POWER WAS REDUCED FROM THE MOTOR. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL SERVICE MECHANIC WHO ADVISED ME THAT THE 3RD CYLINDER SPARK PLUG HAD SOMEHOW BACKED ITSELF OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD WHICH WAS CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER TO THAT CYLINDER. IT ALSO WAS STILL RECEIVING POWER VIA THE COIL PACK WHICH IN TURN MELTED THE RUBBER BOOT AND FRIED THE COIL PACK FOR THAT CYLINDER. THE RUBBER FROM THE BOOT RAN DOWN INTO THE SPARK PLUG AND FILLED THE HOLE. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE PUG BOOT AND COIL PACK FOR THE 3RD CYLINDER ALONG WITH THE LABOR OF REMOVING MELTED RUBBER FROM THE SPARK PLUG HOLE AND CYLINDER HEAD. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN HE FELT AS THOUGH SOMETHING HAD FALLEN ON HIS LEG. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED THAT THE WHEELS HAD DISENGAGED FROM THE TIRES AND THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT ADVISED THAT THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. 2003 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER: WHEN EXECUTING LOW SPEED TURNS IN EITHER DIRECTION, THERE IS A FEELING THAT THE TIRES ARE RUBBING THE INSIDES OF THE WHEEL WELLS. THERE IS A BINDING OR GRINDING FEELING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND NOISE OF SUCH CAN BE HEARD MOST OF THE TIME. AS I HAVE SEEN ON PREVIOUS REPORTS, THERE IS ALSO THE SAME CHATTER AND SHUDDER AND VIBRATIONS ALSO. WE TOOK IT IN TO SERVICE DEPT AND AFTER 2 DAYS THEY REPORT THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND NOR REPRODUCE WHAT WE WERE STATING. AFTER A TECHNICIAN TOOK A TEST DRIVE WITH MY HUSBAND, THE TECHNICIAN DID NOTICE A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HE SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE REAR HUMMING AND THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR END. (ALL OF THIS OCCURRING AT 29,000 MILES. AFTER THE REAR END WAS REPLACED, THE ABOVE MENTIONED CHATTER, SHUDDER, BINDING, GRINDING AND VIBRATIONS WERE GONE. HOWEVER...NOW AT 31,000 MILES THEY ARE ALL BACK AND PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. ON FEBRUARY 2007 I WAS DRIVING THE EXPEDITION IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFICWHEN I NOTICED THAT CAR BEGAN TO FEEL VERY HEAVY. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GOING DOWN DESPITE FACT THAT I WAS PRESSING DOWN THE GAS PEDAL, AND SUDDENLY ALL OF THE ENGINE LIGHTS TURNED ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND START THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM ,BUT 5 MINUTES LATER IT WILL DO THE SAME THING ALL OVER AGAIN. 1) EVERYTHING WAS RUNNING FINE, NO PROBLEMS DETECTED. MAINTENANCE ON VEHICLE WAS UP TO DATE. WAS TURNING A CORNER AND THERE WAS A POP AND AFTER THAT THE ENGINE STARTED TO MIS-FIRE. 2) WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE 2 MILES TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER. THERE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THAT THIS HAPPENS ON OCCASION. I HAD TWO OPTIONS: THE FIRST WAS TO PAY $610 TO PUT A PATCH IN THAT WASN'T PROVIDED WITH A WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME IT COULD LAST 2 YEARS OR BLOW 2 MILES DOWN FROM THE SHOP AFTER I LEFT, OR PAY $2500 AND HAVE A NEW CYLINDER PUT IN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORD VEHICLES, THAT FORD IS AWARE OF BUT IS NOT TAKING CARE OF. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT EVEN IF THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THIS AND I WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 91 IN MASS. MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION BLEW OUT A SPARK PLUG. THIS WAS A FACTORY INSTALLED ORIGINAL PLUG . THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.4 TRITON ENGINE WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM. WE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER FOR REPAIRS. RE-THREADING THE ENGINE HEAD, REPLACE THE DAMAGED COIL PACK AND A NEW SPARK PLUG. WITH LABOR MY BILL WAS OVER $700. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TOW FEE AND A NIGHT AT A LOCAL HOTEL (WE WERE TRAVELING FROM OUT OF STATE ON VACATION). UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I HAVE READ DOZENS AND DOZENS OF STORIES LIKE MINE INVOLVING THIS TRITON CLASS ENGINE BUILT BY FORD. A SPARK PLUG SHOULD NOT BE BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK PERIOD. WHEN MOVING A SLOW SPEED (10MPH TO 15MPH) A SMALL SUDDEN TAP OF THE BREAKS AND THE BRAKE SOMETIMES WILL GO DOWN FARTHER THAN MY FOOT. MY 2003 FORD FOCUS ZX3 WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ITS 20,000 MILE SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, HAD THE WORK DONE AND THEN CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE OBVIOUSLY FAULTY BRAKE ROTORS AND FORD DOES NOT CARE HOW OR IF ITS DEALERS HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. AS A SIDE NOTE, THERE WERE TWO MINOR BODYWORK ISSUES THAT THE SAME DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY, WHICH WE TAKEN CARE OF BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA.

I PURCHASED A 2003 COBRA FROM PRESTIGE FORD IN EDMOND, OK. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING A BRAKE LIGHT THAT CONTINUED TO LIGHT UP ON THE DASH. I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE CLEAR COAT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR BACK WHEN THERE WAS SOMEBODY WITH AUTHORITY AVAILABLE TO TALK TO. I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND DISCOVERED A LEAKING BRAKE CALIPER. THE DEALERSHIP KNEW THE CALIPER WAS LEAKING BECAUSE IT WAS SITTING ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. THEIR ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS TO INSTALL ANOTHER WASHER (NOT THE CORRECT ONE) ON THE CALIPER AND OVER-TORQUE THE BOLT TO THE POINT THE THREADS WERE GALLED. I REMOVED THE INCORRECT RETAINING BOLT AND WASHER, PURCHASED THE CORRECT ONES, ALONG WITH A NEW CALIPER. I CHECKED THE TORQUE ON THE OTHER THREE BOLTS AND THEY WERE TO FACTORY SPECS. TO DISCOVER THAT PRESTIGE FORD SOLD ME A $41,000 VEHICLE THAT LEAVES THE FACTORY CAPABLE OF 150+ MPH, WITH A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS BRAKE PROBLEM INFURIATES ME.*AK

Because of Mustangs heavy doors the latch mechanism malfunctioned and the door came open on the highway. I realize the car is old but I have read up on other complaints on mustangs. The door was fine and within the couple of hours of seeing the problem I was driving 70 on the highway. And I heard the door ding go off and something told me to grab the door. It was all I could do to get back home. Which has now led to other issues like the door sagging and the window is now messed up.

PUDDLE OF WATER IS FORMED IN THE "WELL" BEHIND THE BACK SEAT WHERE THE CONVERTIBLE TOP SITS WHEN LOWERED. I ALSO NOTICE MOISTURE IN THE OTHER AREAS SUCH AS REAR FLOOR MATS AND TRUNK. THIS HAPPENS AFTER RAIN OR AFTER CAR WASH. I'VE NOTICED HUNDREDS OF SAME ISSUES ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND FORUMS AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHY NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS. WHILE SLOWING DOWN, DOWNSHIFTING OR SWITCHING GEARS, THE CAR ENGINE WILL JUST FAIL AND SHUT OFF/STALL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CAR WILL NOT "BUCK" OR SHAKE, IT WILL JUST TURN OFF, CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO STOP OPERATING. I HAVE HAD TWO CLOSE INCIDENTS WHERE I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT AND ALMOST HIT A CAR BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF WHEN THE ENGINE DIED WITHOUT WARNING. I PURCHASED A NEW 2003 FORD MUSTANG COBRA ON CHRISTMAS EVE 2002. AROUND 2000 MILES, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT THE CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVABILITY. I THOUGHT THAT IT MAY BE A LITTLE QUIRK THAT WOULD WORK ITSELF OUT DURING THE BREAK-IN PERIOD. *AK NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT HASN'T. THE FIRST PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGHLY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND HAD IT INSPECTED AT 6,000 MILES. THE ENGINE BEGAN STALLING DURING DECELERATION AND ALSO HAD POWER CUTTING OFF DURING TAKE OFF. THIS HAS BEEN A DAILY OCCURRANCE SINCE THAT TIME. THE CAR NOW HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS RECURRING PROBLEM HAS HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP SIX DIFFERENT TIMES WITH SIX FAILURES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES. THE AIR CONDITIONING IS NOW CYCLING WHERE IT BLOWS NO COLD AIR FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. THE ADHESIVE SEAL FOR THE SPOILER IS COMING LOOSE AND THE REAR BUMPER COVER IS WARPING AS HAVE PREVIOUS MUSTANGS I HAVE OWNED. THE DRIVABILITY CONCERN IS A HAZARD TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE HAD NO FEWER THAN A DOZEN DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHERE I NARROWLY ESCAPED A MAJOR COLLISION DUE TO THE ENGINE BOGGING DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FORD'S REPAIR FACILITY FOR MORE THAN 4 CUMMULATIVE WEEKS FOR REPAIRS. IT IS GOING BACK IN AGAIN VERY SOON. I WENT THROUGH FORD'S ARBITRATION BOARD WHICH WAS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE AND WASTE OF MY TIME. THE BOARD CITED THAT "DRIVABILITY CONCERNS STILL EXIST, HOWEVER FORD HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED SUFFICIENT TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM". EACH TIME IT HAS BEEN IN, I HAVE SAID, I DON'T WANT THE CAR BACK UNTIL IT IS CORRECTED. FORD ALSO TRIES TO CLAIM THAT VEHICLE WAS ONLY IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIME ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAVE SEVERAL WORK ORDERS THAT SAY OTHERWISE. Date of incident....sometime over night 1/27/24. Vehicle FIRE I believe started in electrical components. Happened overnight while PARKED in front of home in parking lot Melted left side of dash (all odometer area) and center console where AC controls and radio are. Shattered front windshield which was black with soot, as well as the plastic frame around front area of convertible top. Fire has somehow extinguished itself. Whole interior car full of soot. I had actually used my key FOB to enter my car at which time I noticed what had happened & all the damage. I immediately disconnected my battery. The engine did not look damaged. The fire seemed to have stayed behind firewall. My insurance company TOTALED my car out due to the fact of it being an ELECTRICAL CAUSE TO FIRE & even if it could've been repaired, was told parts (dash, odometer area which was COMPLETELY melted) were obsolete. Regardless, the car now has posed a serious DANGER. I have photos & totaled decision by insurance company information, but have been unable to upload on your site. I believe you should REALLY SEE THE PICTURES. After incident, I searched to see if there had been any recalls. I found a couple incidents of this happening to others with their 2003 MUSTANGS & am wondering why this had never been investigated. If I had known about a problem of electrical fires, this car would NOT have been purchased in 2017. I don't understand why this problem wasn't researched. It could've been so much worse as I had a FULL TANK OF GAS.

I HAVE AN EDDIE BAUER EDITION EXPEDITION (2003) . THIS UNIT CAME WITH OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS THAT TILT DOWN AND INWARD WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO ASSIST YOU IN BACKING UP. THE ISSUE I HAVE HAD SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW IS THAT THE MIRRORS DO NOT RETURN TO THIER ORIGINAL POSITION CONSISTENTLY ONCE YOU PUT THE VENICLE BACK INTO A FORWARD GEAR. THIS ISSUE BECOMES A SAFETY ISSUE ONCE OUT ON THE ROADWAYS AS WHEN I GO TO PASS I CAN'T SEE IF THERE ARE ANY VECHICLES IN THE LANE I NEED TO GET INTO. HAROLD ZEIGLER AUTO GROUP SOLD ME THE CAR IN KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE MIRRORS AND HAVE DONE SO MORE THAN ONCE. CAN YOU HELP GET THIS RESOLVED. THE DRIVERS SEAT ALSO DOESN'T RETURN TO ITS PROGRAMED POSITION AND THIS IS AN IMTERMITTEN PROBLEM WHICH ZEIGLER HAD FIXED ONCE AND ITS STARTING TO ACT UP AGAIN! ALSO I'VE HAD REAR END WORK DONE MORE THAN TWICE AND ITS STARTING TO HOWL ONCE AGAIN. I PURCHASED THE 2003 EXPLORER IN NOV 2003. ON 6/16/04, 8/17/04,AND FINALLY ON 8/20/04, I COMPLAINED REGARDING THE FUEL GUAGE NOT REGISTERING A FULL TANK. FORD FINALLY REPLACED FUEL TANK. ON DEC 10, 2004, I BROUGHT THE CAR IN BECAUSE WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, A WHINING AND CLUNKING NOICE COULD BE HEARD. ALSO, BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE CAR DOESN'T START. AT FIRST FORD CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG REGARDING THE CLUNKING. I THEN REMINDED THEM ABOUT THE RECALLS BEING DISCUSSED IN THE NEWS REGARDING THE 2004 MODELS. THEN THEY REPLACED SOMETHING CALLED A SOLEONID. THE START PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND SO DOES THE CLUNKING NOISE. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. YESTERDAY, IT ACCELLERATED WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK, FORM REVERSE TO DRIVE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME. MY HUSBAND, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SEVERAL TIMES AS HE IS CHANGING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE NEWS JUST DESCRIBED ANOTHER FORD PROBLEM REGARDING ACCELLERATION. I THINK THIS IS WHAT IS AFFECTING MY CAR.

MY HUSBAND AND I ARE LEASING A 2003 FORD EXPIDITION OF WHICH WE RECEIVED ON 5/5/03. AS OF 10/04 THIS SUV HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, (SENSORS BURN OUT). ALSO IN 10/04 THE FRONT END BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND THE AGAIN ON 2/05, THE FRONT END BRAKES BACK BRAKES AND ALSO FRONT END ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THIS SUV SHOULD IN NO WAY NEED NEW BRAKES THIS SOON AND DEFINITLEY NOT ROTORS. THIS SUV ONLY HAVE 35,000 MILES AS OF 5/19/05. BUT WHEN THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED IT ONLY HAD 31,000 MILES. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE I HAVE SPOKEN TO NUMEROUS OF EXPIDITION OWNERS AND THEY ALL ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. I WOULD LIKE TO BE RE-INBURSED FOR THEY MONEY WE HAVE SPENT THUS FAR FOR AN ON GOING DEFECT. PASSENGER-FRONT TIRE RECEIVED AN IMPACT IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HIT WAS A "SIDE-CRASH" WHERE ONLY THE TIRE AND A SMALL AREA OF THE OUTSIDE FRAMING ABOVE THE WHEEL WERE DAMAGED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE TRUCK SPARKED AND IGNITED ON IMPACT. THE TRUCK WAS IN FULL FLAMES IN THE TIRE AND ENGINE AREA WITHIN 9-11 MINUTES. THE FIRE BURNED OUT THE CENTER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD, THE ENTIRE ENGINE AREA, THE DASHBOARD/GLOVE COMPARTMENT, AND THE TIRE AREA WITHIN THAT TIME FRAME. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY ROTATED THE TIRES. THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. COMPLETE LOSS OF TRACTION - SPIN OUT AT 30MPH WHILE OTHER CARS PASSED ME BY NORMALLY. FELT LIKE THE REAR END JUST COULD NOT STAY ON THE ROAD. CRAWLED 100 MILES TO THE AIRPORT AT 30-35MPH WITH CONSTANT LOSS OF TRACTION MOST OF THE WAY ON A MOIST HIGHWAY. CAR KEPT WANTING TO TURN SIDEWAYS. TIRES LOOKED GOOD AND STILL DO. TRIED SHUTTING THE TRAC ON/OFF, NO CHANGE EITHER WAY. COULD NOT KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AS THE REAR END KEPT SLIDING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I FEEL LIKE THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS LOCKED IN EITHER THE ON OR OFF POSITION OR, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ON. SCARY. THIS HAPPENED IN SOUTHERN OREGON, CAR WAS PURCHASED IN SOUTHER CALIFORNIA. RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 MUSTANG GT CONVERTIBLE AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT SEEM TO GET THE TOP TO STOP LEAKING. I RECENTLY FILED A REPORT WITH THE DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BOARD TO GET FORD TO REPLACE THE CAR. HOWEVER, IT RECENTLY RAINED AND I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TO CONTINUE THE WARRANTY WORK ON THE CONVERTABLE TO INCLUDE REPLACING THE FRONT SEATS DUE TO WATER SPOTS. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THEY CANT SERVICE THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS CURRENTLY WITH THE DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BOARD, FORD TELLS ME IT IS STILL MY CAR TO GET IT SERVICED. I AM AT A TOTAL LOSS, IF FORD WANTS TO DROP NEW SEATS IN THE CAR EVERY TIME IT RAINS THAT IS FINE THEY CAN WASTE THE MONEY.
