Driver side air bag randomly deployed after hitting bump at 40 miles an hour

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that she purchased a vehicle that was not working. The contact had the engine replaced by an independent mechanic. While starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V319000 (Air Bags) and 19V001000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was repaired at the local dealer, but the failure recurred. The dealer informed the contact that a diagnostic test was needed. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 230,272.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V001000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that several local dealers declined to perform the recall repair on the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Did not sustain some sort of accident in order for me to notice thank God, I simply noticed thanks to multiple virtual methods which told me-considering how stupidly fast this car is and how important air bags are whe combined with that I thought id do this. Ford doesn't really care unless it can somehow bleed more money from something so...kinda just letting y'all know. Not much else I can do..other than drive really carefully (5-speed and I suck with Manual :()

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, WATER LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND TRAVELED TO THE BACK SEAT AREA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED UP WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WATER MAY HAVE ENTERED INTO THE CABIN FROM THE SEAM WHERE THE HOOD MET THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. WILLARD'S SERVICE CENTER (4311 MAIN STREET, GRASONVILLE, MARYLAND 21638, (410) 827-7222) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE HEATER COIL ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THERE IS BUBBLING IN THE PAINT IN THE TIP OF THE HOOD WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS CORROSION ON THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR. FORD WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF IT SAYING IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM AS THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PENDING.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On June 18, 2023, my throttle unexpectedly stuck open after intentional acceleration, causing the car to continue to accelerate uncontrollably after releasing the accelerator pedal. The engine continued to increase RPMs and speed. After using all of my leg strength to apply the brakes to fight the uncontrolled acceleration, the throttle unexpectedly eased up and returned to normal. This was the most frightening instance. On two other occasions, I noticed similar uncontrolled acceleration that seemed to correct itself immediately after shifting, where the tachometer approached 5k RPMs. I have not had the vehicle inspected, and there were no warning lamps, or other symptoms prior to this failure.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. THE ACCELERATOR WAS BEING DEPRESSED SLIGHTLY TO EITHER MAINTAIN OR SLOWLY ACCELERATE TO A SPEED BETWEEN 30-40 MPH. THE GAS PEDAL THEN PRESSED TO THE FLOOR ON ITS OWN CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV LOUDLY AND ACCELERATE TO BEYOND 50 MPH ON THE FIRST INCIDENT (NEARLY 70 ON THE SECOND MAJOR INCIDENT). WHEN THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. BRAKING ONLY SLOWED THE RATE OF ACCELERATION. PRESSING IN THE CLUTCH WAS INEFFECTIVE. THE INCIDENTS ARE RANDOM. NO IMMEDIATE CAUSE HAS BEEN DETERMINED. BOTH TIMES, THE DRIVER AND FELLOW DRIVERS WERE ENDANGERED BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF CONTROL CAUSED BY THE INCIDENT. THANKFULLY, NO CRASHES HAVE ENSUED YET. NOTHING SHORT OF TURNING OFF THE ENGINE ENTIRELY AFFECTS THE INCIDENT AS IT OCCURS WHICH CAUSES FURTHER ENDANGERMENT. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ROUGHLY 4 TIMES IN THE SPAN OF ONE MONTH'S TIME. TWO WERE MINOR CASES IN WHICH THE ACCELERATOR RIGHTED ITSELF QUICKLY. THE OTHER TWO WERE MAJOR INCIDENTS RESULTING IN LACK OF SPEED AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS BELIEVED THE ISSUE IS ARISING FROM THE MECHANICAL NATURE OF THE ACCELERATOR. WHEREAS MOST VEHICLES ARE A SINGLE PIECE PEDAL, THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR IS A TWO-PIECE MECHANISM. UPON RESEARCHING SIMILAR INCIDENTS, IT HAS BEEN MADE KNOWN THAT THIS ISSUE ARISES IN THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR OF THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS, SOME OTHERS. HOWEVER, THE COMPANY REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL TO PREVENT FURTHER INCIDENTS WHICH, QUITE FRANKLY, IS RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT ON THE PART OF THE COMPANY. NO REPAIR INVOICES, POLICE ACCIDENT REPORTS, INSURANCE CLAIM FORMS, ETC. HAVE BEEN FILED AS THESE INCIDENTS HAVE ONLY OCCURRED OVER THE COURSE OF THE MOST PREVIOUS MONTH. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED PROMPTLY BY THE COMPANY.

SOME YEARS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD CAUSE PULLING OF THE CAR. WHAT I MEAN BY THIS IS THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL FORWARD AS IF SOMEONE WERE TOWING IT FROM THE FRONT. THIS WOULD TAKE PLACE AFTER THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD BEEN USED MINUTES OR HOURS PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE BEING SHUT OFF. ONCE THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AGAIN, EVEN AN HOUR LATER, WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO MAINTAIN ITS SPEED (USUALLY 10 MPH OR 15 MPH) UNTIL THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED EVEN THOUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL WASN'T ACTIVATED. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" BY FORD THROUGH A $600 "REPAIR" OF THE "COMPUTER" THAT CONTROLS THE THROTTLE (I HAVE DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT THIS REPAIR). I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS SITE. SO NOW I AM REPORTING THE FOLLOWING TERRIFYING INCIDENT. THIS 2006 FORD MUSTANG, ABOUT 2 YEARS PRIOR, HAD ITS CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM 40 OR 50 MPH TO 60 TO 70 MPH. THE BRAKE SLOWED THE CAR BUT THE REVVING WAS OUT OF CONTROL. LUCKILY I WAS ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY AROUND 10PM BUT HAD TO DRIVE INTO A GAS STATION (LUCKILY NOTHING HAPPENED) AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AS THE ENGINE REVVED HITTING THE UPPER RPMS. I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE CAR WITH THE IGNITION (LEAVING IT IN THE PARK GEAR AND PRESSING THE BRAKE, MIND YOU!) AND WHEN TURNED ON THE CAR AGAIN (NOW IN PARK), THE CAR AGAIN, DANGEROUSLY REVVED. I THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO BLOW OUT. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AGAIN, PARKED STILL AT THE ENTRANCE OF THIS GAS STATION. I WAITED SOME MINUTES AND TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN, SWEATING PROFUSELY AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, AND THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL. I WAS CONVINCED THIS HAD TO DO WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD AAA TOW THE CAR HOME AND THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO FORD WHO CLAIMED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER AGAIN AND GAVE IT AN "UPDATE". I NEVER USED THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN AS YOU CAN IMAGINE AND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE RPMS OR ACCELERATION. *TR

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. MY GAS PEDAL HAS GOTTEN STICK TO THE FLOOR AND WILL NOT LET UP UNLESS I SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAIT ABOUT 10 SECONDS THEN START IT UP AGAIN. WAS DRIVING INTO A CONVENIENCE STORE PARKING LOT, CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE , IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, DID NO GOOD, SLAMMED THE CAR INTO PARK. FORD MUSTANG 2006 - CAN NOT PUT GAS IN GAS TANK. WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WITHOUT PUTTING GAS IN TANK -- GAS JUST SPILLS ONTO YOUR FEET -- CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. FORD KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM - THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN & MANY COMPLAINTS. FORD SAYS THERE IS "NO FIX". SUGGESTS GETTING GAS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATION. I HAVE HAD CAR TO FORD SERVICE 4 TIMES -- SO FAR SPENT $300 ON SUPPOSED FIXES. NOW THEY SAY THERE IS NO FIX. SO - I HAVE A CAR, WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT, THAT I CAN NOT DRIVE. MUST STAY CLOSE TO HOME, JUST IN CASE I CAN'T GET ANY GAS INTO IT. SO FAR HAVE FOUND ONE GAS STATION WHERE I CAN PUT IN GAS IN THE CAR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER FOUND A RESTRICTION BLOCKING THE FUEL TANK VENT LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WHEN THE DEALER CLEARED THE VENT LINE. IN MY FORD MUSTANG AND MANY OTHER FORD MUSTANG THTA IV COME ACROSS FROM THE 2005-2007 ERA THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIPPING PROBLEM. WHEN U STOP AND TRY TO CHANGE GEARS THE CAR STUTTERS AND EVEN TAKE UP TO 4 SEC TO CHANGE GEAR EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER ONLY USES THE CAR AS AN EVERYDAY COMUTE. NO RACING, DRIFTING OR HEAVE PRESSEURE PUT ON THE TRANSMISSION YET THEY STILL GO BAD AND START TO SLIP CONSISTANTLY EVEN WHEN THE CAR DOESNT HAVE ALOT OF MILES ON IT. I bought a 2006 Mustang convertible for my wife on her 40th birthday. We store the car every winter and bring the battery into the home. Car has 40k miles. 6 years ago we began experiencing amperage draw while the vehicle is off. I have went through 4 batteries, 1 alternator, several flat bed truck tows, and weeks into service at my local Ford dealer - only to have the dealership continue to tell me how difficult it is to find 'parasitic' amp draw because it is intermittent. My wife has had it being stuck and now afraid to drive the car, and contemplating to get rid of it. I work for a major tier 1 automotive supplier in engineering and know how my company pays special attention to NHTSA complaints and investigations relating to our products. I am hopeful that Ford engineering will get a hold of me and get this right before I take the Mustang to the scrap yard!

FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS, CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH WATER LEAKING ONTO MY PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD. I HAVE TO PUT PLASTIC BAGS OUTSIDE THE WINDSHIELD UNDERNEATH THE WIPERS EVERY TIME IT RAINS. THIS DOESN'T KEEP ALL THE RAIN FROM COMING IN BUT IT HELPS. I CAN NO LONGER GO THROUGH A CAR WASH BECAUSE IT FLOODS THE INSIDE OF MY CAR. I NOW HAVE A PLASTIC BUCKET ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD IN CASE IT RAINS WHILE I AM DRIVING SO THE INTERIOR DOESN'T GET FLOODED. THERE IS NOW A MILDEW SMELL IN MY CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SO IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT WE CONSUMERS HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR AN ISSUE THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME. THE LAST TIME I CHECKED WITH A DEALER A FEW YEARS AGO THEY SAID IT WOULD COST APPROX. $800-900 TO TRY TO FIX; I'M SURE SOME PEOPLE HAVE AN EXTRA GRAND LAYING AROUND BUT I SURE DON'T. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE!! IT IS A SAFETY AS WELL AS A HEALTH HAZARD, ESPECIALLY IF PEOPLE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALER WHO SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT AND WOULD BE $95.00 TO START LOOKING IN TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS PAST SATURDAY, I PARKED MY VEHICLE THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE IT SEEMS THIS ISSUE CAN BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO WATER DAMAGE. CATALYTIC CONVERTER: LONG STORY SHORT. MY CAR WAS STILL ELIGIBLE UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY. WHICH MADE IT ELIGIBLE FOR FORD TO REPAIR THE CAT. CONVERTER BY LAW. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2006 PREMIUM V6 FORD MUSTANG, AND I REGULARLY GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED. MY MOST RECENT SERVICE VISIT WAS FOR AN OIL CHANGE ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER STANDARD PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE THAT IS PERFORMED WITH THE OIL CHANGE; PERFORMED 05/20/11. UPON COMPLETION, THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME THE MECHANIC FOUND COOLANT RESIDUE ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT AND IT WAS PROBABLY NOTHING. ON 06/24 I DECIDED TO DRIVE TO NEVADA FOR THE WEEKEND, AND MY ENGINE OVERHEATED DUE TO THE COOLANT LEAK. I HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT WITH NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE AND LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC ON THE ROUTE I TOOK. IT TOOK OVER SIX HOURS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO ATTAIN HELP AND HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD SERVICE FACILITY - WHICH COSTED OVER $500 TO TOW. I WAS ADVISED THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING CRACKED AND LEAKED, POSSIBLY DUE TO IMPROPER TIGHTENING. MY ENGINE APPARENTLY IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW, SO I AM FACING A 4000+ DOLLAR SERVICE BILL FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. HAD I BEEN TOLD RESIDUE COULD BE A SIGN OF A POTENTIAL LEAK THAT COULD CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE, I WOULD HAVE PAID WHATEVER WAS NECESSARY TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. I THOUGHT I COULD CONFIDE IN MY FORD DEALERSHIP IN MAINTAINING MY VEHICLE, BUT APPARENTLY I CANNOT. I AM APPALLED WITH THIS EXPERIENCE THAT SERVICED MY VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND MY ENGINE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, BECAUSE THIS IS CLEARLY NEGLIGENCE ON FORD'S BEHALF FOR NOT ADVISING ME COOLANT WAS LEAKING AND MY ENGINE COULD POTENTIALLY FAIL. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A FAMILIAR NARROW WINDING ROAD, AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, APPROACHING A CURVE TO THE RIGHT, WHEN IT SUDDENLY UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATED. THIS SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAUSED THE CAR TO PLUNGE OFF OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, DOWN A VERY STEEP BUMPY HILL SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET BEFORE FINALLY STOPPING. I WAS FRANTICALLY APPLYING THE BRAKES, BUT THEY SEEMED NONEFFECTIVE. THE CAR IS TOTALED, THERE IS PROPERTY DAMAGE, I WAS CHARGED WITH RECKLESS OPERATION, MY BACK IS INJURED. TO WHOM IT CONCERNS, BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2013, I PURCHASED A USED, BUT VERY WELL KEPT, 2006 FORD MUSTANG GT PREMIUM. AFTER A YEAR OR SO, I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM THAT HAS LEFT ME AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. WHILE SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE TO PARK MY CAR, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, ABOUT TO SHIFT INTO PARK, WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO THROTTLE UP OVERPOWERING THE BRAKES CAUSING THE BACK WHEELS TO SPIN AND THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD. THE HARDER I PUSHED DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE MORE IT THROTTLED UP UNTIL IT SHOT ME UP AND OVER THE CEMENT WHEEL STOP IN FRONT OF THE PARKING STALL AND ONTO THE GRASS MEDIAN AT WHICH TIME I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND SLAMMED THE SHIFTER UP INTO PARK. ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OVER 10MPH RESULTED IN INTENSE WOBBLING AND UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE. IF AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND MULTIPLE OTHERS HAD SAME INCIDENT WITH UNKNOWN REASONS THE BAR BREAKS CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.THIS BAR HOLDS BETWEEN REAR WHEELS SO VEHICLE WILL STAY STRAIGHT. I AM JUST THANKFUL I WAS AT A SLOW SPEED AND NOT DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGHER RATE OF SPEED THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN LOSING MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S NOT HAVING CONTROL OF BACK PORTION OF MY VEHICLE. THIS NOW EXPLAINS SUBTLE ACCELERATIONS THAT OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY WHEN IT WAS NOT ME APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL.

A FEW WEEKENDS AGO I PURCHASED A VERY NICE LOOKING 06 MUSTANG GT WITH 87,000 (APX) MILES. CAR HAD JUST BEEN CLEANED UP VERY NICELY AND LOOKED LIKE A GOOD DEAL. ON THE WAY HOME I TOOK IT THROUGH THE CAR WASH AND CAME TO DISCOVER WHY IT HAD BEEN SO CLEANED OUT. WATER BEGAN POURING IN UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. LIKE A WATER FALL. THE WATER DIDN'T STOP UNTIL THERE WAS A GOOD 4 INCHES ON THE FLOOR. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. THE WATER SMELLED TERRIBLE. I SMELL A AWFUL MOLD/MILDEW SMELL NOW THAT WON'T GO AWAY. THERE WERE SMALL ELECTRICAL ISSUES AT THE TIME THAT SEEM TO HAVE CLEARED UP... FOR NOW. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THE DRAINAGE HOLES UNDER THE COWL WERE PLUGGED AND AN INVESTIGATION VERIFIED THE PROBLEM. CLEARING OF THE DRAINAGE HOLES TOOK ONLY A FEW MINUTES, BUT I FEAR THE DAMAGE MAY BE THERE AND WILL CAUSE SERIOUS ISSUES IN THE FUTURE IF THE WIRES SHOULD EVER RUST. AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS SCARY. ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS CONTROL.. WELL.. THE ENTIRE CAR. CRUISE CONTROL, WINDOWS, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, AIR BAGS, ETC. I'D HATE MY AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN SOMEONE FINALLY DIES FROM THIS INCIDENT WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES BY CONSUMERS BOTH ON THIS SITE AND WITH TSB'S FROM FORD ISSUED AS EARLY AS 2007 THEN SOMEONE WILL TAKE NOTICE JUST LIKE WHAT JUST HAPPENED AT GM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. THERE ARE MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FAILURES DUE TO A SERIOUS WATER LEAK AFFECTING THE ENTIRE CAR. MY 2006 FORD MUSTANG HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE FEB. 8 2014 AND WE JUST PICKED IT UP FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED ONCE BEFORE. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO REALIZE THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM HERE? THIS COMES AFTER AN EXTENSIVE WATER LEAK THAT CAUSED SERIOUS MOLD DAMAGE INSIDE THE CAR ALONG WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES,ONE OF WHICH A NEW BATTERY WAS NEEDED. THIS WAS FIRST "REPAIRED" IN 5/2013 BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE IN 12/2013 THERE WAS A MASSIVE INTERIOR FLOOD WHICH LEAD TO A MASSIVE INTERIOR MOLD PROBLEM AND THE CAR ALSO WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS. NO ONE WANTS TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY AND THERE IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF DATA OUT THERE SUPPORTING THE FACT THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS EARLY AS 2007. 2006 FORD MUSTANG-CAR BROUGHT INTO DEALERSHIP ON 5/2013 WITH C/O WATER LEAKING ON PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED.CHECK CAR ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR THE FIFTH TIME AND THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR FOR THE SECOND TIME. CAR NOW(2/14) WOULD NOT START AND THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS FULL OF MOLD SPORES! WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP, MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE REVS UP TO 3500 RPM AND RISES FROM THERE. IN ORDER TO STOP IT, I HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT. TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FORD SAID THERE IS NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM AND THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE SITUATION TO VERIFY. THEY ALSO SAID THAT I MIGHT BE TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME. TOOK DELIVERY OF MUSTANG PREMIUM CONVERTIBLE (V6) ON 1/6/2006. DROVE HOME 17 MILES. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP AND TURNING ONTO SIDE STREET, THE ENGINE APPEARED TO ACCELERATE AND THEN STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. DURING SUBSEQUENT DRIVES, ENGINE APPEARS TO ACCELERATE FROM A FULL STOP BUT THEN STALLS. IF ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED QUICKLY ENOUGH, THE ENGINE DOES NOT STOP; HOWEVER, IT MAY EXHIBIT THE STALL A SECOND TIME. DEALER INDICATES THAT NO INFORMATION IS RECORDED ON COMPUTER INDICATING REASON FOR FAILURE. THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. I DRIVE A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. I HAVE HAD A BRAKE PROBLEM SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM THAT THE TOYOTA PRIUS RECALL IS HAVING. WHEN I AM TURNING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND HIT A BUMP, THE BRAKE GIVE OUT. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT STARTING IN OCTOBER 2007, BUT THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT THE BRAKES AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN RECORD IT IN THEIR COMPUTERS. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AFTER IT HEATS UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THESE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE USED VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX. THEY REPLACED O2 SENSORS AND I GOT IT BACK LAST NIGHT AND TODAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF ON ME AGAIN AND THE RPMS DROPPED TO ZERO. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE SAFELY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. I DROVE FOR ABOUT A MINUTE OR TWO AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN, SO AGAIN I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I HAD BRAKED OFF CRUISE CONTROL AS I EXITED 94E TO 65N. AS I BEGAN TO PLAN MY MERGE ONTO 65 A GUY ALONE IN THE RIGHT LANE WOULD NOT MOVE OVER, I ROLLED INTO AND THE ACCELERATION HAPPENED AGAIN. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AT FIRST AND THE BRAKES WERE ALMOST OVERWHELMED. I TURNED OFF IGNITION AND COASTED FORWARD UNTIL I GOT A SHOULDER. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER AND A MECHANIC VISIT IT IS A TIMING CHAIN GUIDE/TENSIONER. ITS A COSTLY REPAIR AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON 05-09 MUSTANGS FORM INTERNET RESEARCH. THEY USE THE TIMING CHAIN CAUSE THEY SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR, CAUSE THEY WONT BREAK. I THINK THE GUIDES SHOULD ALSO LAST, BUT THEY ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND CAN BREAK AT ANYTIME. AS OF TODAY MY 2006 MUSTANG HAS 58,953 MILES ON IT AND IT IS ON IT'S THIRD ALTERNATOR. THE FIRST ONE FAILED AT AROUND THE 56,000 MILE MARK AND WAS REPLACED. MY FRIEND AND I HAD TRAVELED ABOUT 60 MILES N FROM SACRAMENTO TO AN AREA BETWEEN ALTA AND DUTCH FLATS AND I HAD TURNED OFF THE AC AND PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN. I HEARD A STRANGE CRACKLING SOUND AND I PULLED OVER ABOUT A HALF A MILE AFTERWARDS AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, WE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND LIFTED UP THE HOOD. AND THAT WAS THE END OF THE 2ND ALTERNATOR IT HAD LASTED ABOUT 1600 MILES. THE SPARKS THAT WERE SHOOTING OUT OF THE ALTERNATOR LOOKED LIKE A 4TH OF JULY SPARKLER, AND WE'RE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. AND I'M ON THE 3RD ALTERNATOR WITH LESS THAN 59000 MILES. TWO MONTHS LATER MAYBE 600 MORE MILES AND WATER FROM THE SPLIT IN THE WIPER COWLING RUNS INTO THE CAR WHICH WENT UNNOTICED FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT; 100,000 miles, excellent condition. While driving and when turning, at any speed, the steering wheel locks making it impossible to steer. I took it to two different mechanics who would not work on the problem as they believed it to be a defect, and they did not want the responsibility of the repair required. I then went to the Ford dealership, and the service manager said he had never heard of such a problem. It is very dangerous, and impossible to determine when it will happen again. Therefore it sits in the driveway. I want to keep the car, and don't want to sell it to an unsuspecting person. Please help if you can. Thank you. The owners manual advised and encouraged me to contact the NHTSA.

WHILE DRIVING AT 20-25 MPH GOING INTO A RIGHT HAND TURN THE CAR MADE A LOUD POP. THE LEFT REAR TIRE LOST CONTROL. THE REAR END WITH POWER ONLY ON THE GOOD WHEEL WAS LOSING CONTROL AND WITHIN A SECOND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS OFF THE WHEEL. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN 1 CITY BLOCK TO THE CLOSEST PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. BOTH LEFT FRONT AND REAR WHEELS ARE DESTROYED FROM CRUNCHING ON THE CONCRETE THE ONE BLOCK OF DRIVING TO GET SAFELY OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. ONCE STOPPED THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. HAD TO CALL 24 HR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE VEHICLE. A PRELIMINARY LOOK AT A FORD SERVICE GARAGE FOUND THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM TOTALLY SEPARATED FROM IT'S ATTACHMENT POINT. THE REAR SWAY BAR AND THE REAR AXLE HAD BEEN SHIFTED OUT OF POSITION ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC. THIS CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, AVERAGING 33 OR SO MILES A DAY ON HIGHWAY, AND STATE MAINTAINED ROADS ONLY. THERE IS NO REASON I KNOW OF FOR THIS OUTSIDE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE VEHICLE. LOOKS LIKE A RECALL OF 2006 MUSTANG GT'S WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ALIVE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. I'M OUTRAGED TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT ALSO DISAPPOINTED. AS TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE UP SLOWLY, I HAD PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE FORWARD AND WITHOUT HESITATION THE CAR JUMPS FROM 7 MPH TO FULL THROTTLE. 2006 MUSTANG GT MANUAL TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY RESULTS IN ENGINE STALLING WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON WHEN CLUTCH DEPRESSED.. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES ON REPLACING BATTERY THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO RELEARN IDLE. THIS DOES NOT WORK AT LEAST NOT IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN OVER A NUMBER OF DAYS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING AND DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH EITHER COMING TO STOP OR TURNING A CORNER THE ENGINE IDLE WILL DROP FAR ENOUGH WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES POSSIBLY CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE VEHICLE RAN CORRECTLY BEFORE THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT AND ONLY HAS 22,000 MILES. GOOGLING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET FINDS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WHICH ARE IDENTICAL OF WHICH OWNERS OF THE 4.6L FORD V8 (NOT JUST MUSTANG) ARE REPORTING IDLE AND STALLING PROBLEMS AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY AND WITH THE ISSUE NOT RESOLVING ITSELF AS THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES RESULTING IN EITHER A COMPUTER REFLASH OR THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT. THIS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN A CRASH CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. FORD SHOULD RECALL AFFECTED VEHICLES AND HAVE THE DEFAULT IDLE SETTING SET FOR A HIGHER VALUE SO THE AIR CONDITIONER WHEN ENGAGED DOES NOT RESULT IN THE ENGINE STALLING. THE IDLE OF ENGINE IS ERRATIC WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON SINCE IT IS ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING DUE TO THE LOW IDLE SPEED < 500RPM. BY NOT USING THE AIR CONDITIONER THE IDLE SPEED WILL RETURN TO ITS NORMAL SPEED OF AROUND 600 TO 700RPM BUT STILL FLUCTUATES SLIGHTLY. DURING IDLE SPEED, CAR SHUTS OFF BELOW 1,000 RPMS AND HAS TO BE RE-STARTED. DURING STARTUP, CAR DOES NOT CRANK UNTIL ABOUT THE THIRD TIME IT IS TURNED OVER. THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT THIS WAS DUE TO BAD GAS. SO I FINISHED RUNNING TANK OUT WITH HEET, FILLED IT UP WITH GAS FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY AND IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. IT IS NOT GAS. IT DOES TIE INTO THE DELIVERY OF THE FUEL OR THE IGNITION OF THE CAR WITH IS POSSIBLY A SENSOR PROBLEM. THERE ARE SENSORS THAT ARE NOT TIED INTO THE COMPUTER AND RELAYS AND DO NOT SHOW UP WITH THE CHECK SERVICE LIGHT. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED LAST MONTH, BUT THEN RE-OCCURRED DURING THIS MONTH MORE THAN ONCE AND THE MOST RECENT WAS YESTERDAY, 10/06/06. IT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE OR THE SENSORS. I HAVE GIVEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT VARIOUS IDEAS, SINCE THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON, AS TO WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT. I have had Diagnostics ran and the mechanic has no clue what’s causing this. Ford forums are full of these mustangs doing this. It is a huge safely risk!!!!

DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING NORTH ON WILMA RUDOLPH BLVD AT 45-50 MPH IN CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE AND ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN BRAKES DID NOT APPLY. UPON REAR-ENDING THE VEHICLE, SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL THEN A SPLIT SECOND LATER AS HER HEAD WAS RETURNING TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED "AFTER" AND "LATE". THIS AIRBAG WAS PART OF A FORD RECALL AND HAD BEEN REPLACED AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICED IN DECEMBER OF 2018 AND WE HAD INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP OF BRAKE SYSTEM FEELING "SPONGY". PCM MODULE/CRASH DATA REPORT SAYS THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WENT TO 100% WITH ACCELERATOR AT 60% AND THEN THE THROTTLE STAYED WIDE OPEN UNTIL ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED TO APPROX 23% PERCENT. WHY IS THERE A 40% DIFFERENCE IN THE PCM DATA FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION TO THE THROTTLE POSITION. AT THE TRIAL A GUY FROM FORD SAID THIS IS NORMAL AND THE THROTTLE IS DESIGNED THIS WAY. WHILE TRAVELING TO WORK I UNKNOWINGLY APPROACHED A PATCH OF BLACK ICE AT SPEED OF 35MPH. UPON REALIZING THE ROAD CONDITION I LIFTED THROTTLE TO COAST OVER THE ICE IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAFELY DECELERATE. THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED CAUSING AN UNCONTROLLABLE SLIDE. THE CAR ROTATED 90 DEGREES RIGHT BEFORE STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I MANEUVERED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INSPECT FOR DAMAGE AND FIND THE CAUSE. THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE DISC WAS GLOWING RED. IT HAD UNKNOWINGLY BEEN DRAGGING. WHEN I LIFTED THROTTLE, THE ICY CONDITION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DRAGGING PASSENGER REAR BRAKE CAUSED THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE TO LOCK UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CAR HAS A POSITIVE ENGAGEMENT DIFFERENTIAL, THIS CAUSED THE OPPOSITE WHEEL TO LOCK. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO BE UNCONTROLLABLE WHEN THROTTLE WAS NOT APPLIED ON ICY PATCHES OF ROAD, AT ANY SPEED. FORD DEALER IN WINSTON SALEM, NC SAID THE DRAIN BELOW THE WINDSHIELD HAS STOPPED UP AND DIVERTED THE WATER VIA THE WIRING TO THE SJB THEREBY SHORTING IT OUT. HAD NEW SJB INSTALLED AND WATER REMOVED FROM PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. TOOK 2 DAYS FOR CARPETING TO DRY OUT. COST WAS 610.38 PLUS THE SJB. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT FOR NOT HAVING BRAKE LIGHTS OR TURN SIGNALS. IT IS NOW JULY 1, 2014 AND THE SAME PART HAS FAILED AGAIN BUT WITHOUT THE WATER ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE CHILLY MORNING I COULD NOT FEEL ANY WARM AIR COMING FROM THE HEAT OR THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER. I HAD TO RETURN TO HOME BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WERE FOGGING UP AND I HAD NO HEAT. I DROVE ANOTHER CAR TO WORK THAT DAY. I LATER DISCOVERED THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING GASKET HAD A SLOW LEAK AND ALLOWED MOST OF THE ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT. THIS WAS THE REASON THE DEFROSTER WAS NOT WORKING ALSO THE THERMOSTAT IS NO LONGER IN CONTACT WITH ANY FLUID, ONLY THE PLASTIC HOUSING, AND THE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR NEVER READ MUCH ABOVE COLD WHILE MY ENGINE IS OVERHEATING INTERNALLY DUE TO LOW COOLANT. AFTER REPLACING THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND SENSOR I STILL SMELL ANTIFREEZE LEAKING FROM SOME WHERE POSSIBLY THE HEAD GASKET AND HAVE TO TOP OFF THE RADIATOR MORE FREQUENTLY. I BELIEVE THIS DESIGN, PLACING THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR IN THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING, IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I WAS STOPPED COMPLETELY. THE TRAFFIC LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN IN THE INTERSECTION. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND STAYED THERE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING, THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD BECOME STUCK IN POSITION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE BRAKE TO RELEASE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING IDLE FOR AT LEAST 15-20 MINUTES. I ATTEMPTED TO PASS TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME AND SLAMMED MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE AHEAD; HOWEVER, UPON PASSING THE TRAFFIC ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTH, WHICH HAS A SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH, MY GAS PEDAL BECAME STUCK OR JAMMED IN THE MAT AND ACCELERATED TO WHAT FELT LIKE 90-100 MPH. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL THEN ACCIDENTALLY TO REVERSE HEARING A MECHANICAL CLUNK, DURING WHICH TIME I REPEATEDLY SLAMMED MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN LUCKILY, THE GAS PEDAL RELEASED AND I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING LIKE NORMAL. LATER THAT DAY, I NOTICED THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS STUCK BEHIND THE GAS PEDAL AT WORK; IT MAY HAVE SLID UNDER THE GAS PEDAL WHEN MY FOOT LIFTED UP FROM THE FLOOR OR THE EXACT TIME I AM NOT SURE SINCE WHEN I ENTER MY CAR I DO NOT LOOK TO SEE IF MY FLOOR MAT IS STUCK BEHIND THE GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, I AM FILING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THE FLOOR MAT PROVIDED BY FORD WITH MY 2006 ROUSH STAGE II FORD MUSTANG HAD NO HOLE TO LATCH ONTO THE HOOK ON THE FLOOR OF THE CAR AS WELL AS THE ROUSH FLOOR MAT PROVIDED WITH PURCHASE OF THE CAR AND USED THAT DAY, DID HAVE A HOLE TO CONNECT TO THE HOOK ON THE FLOOR, BUT DOES NOT FIT THE HOOK. I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURERS DID NOT ENSURE 100% THAT THEIR FLOOR MATS ARE SECURED TO THE FLOOR; INSTEAD, IN THIS EXAMPLE, IT SLID ON THE FLOOR AND BECAME STUCK BEHIND MY GAS PEDAL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ON WET ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND THEN PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE. SUDDENLY, THE CONTACT HEARD WATER COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE DRIVER OBSERVED THAT THE PASSENGER FLOOR PANEL AREA AND THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT EXHIBITED WATER LEAKAGE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE IN THE JUNCTION BOX. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN FLAW WITH THE DRAINAGE. A FAN WAS USED TO DRY OUT THE JUNCTION BOX; HOWEVER, THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES STILL PERSIST. THE EXTERIOR COMPONENTS THAT WERE INOPERATIVE CONSIST OF: TAILLIGHTS, PARKING LIGHTS, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, REAR BACK UP LIGHTS, AND THE LOW BEAMS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,000.

WHEN FUELING MY 2006 MUSTANG, I FIND IT HARD TO FILL THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL IT IS OVER 1/2 TANK. DEALERSHIP ASSURES ME THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE SADDLEBAG PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK. ALSO, I HAD TO PUT A NEW CLUTCH IN MY CAR AT 17,000 MILES. I HAD THE MAINTENANCE PACKAGE SO FORD HAD TO PICK UP THE TAB FOR THIS REPAIR. I ALSO HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I WAS ABLE TO GET A LOANER BUT I SEEM TO BE DRIVING A FORD FOCUS ALLOT SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR. THIS WILL BE AN EXPENSIVE CAR IF I HAVE TO PUT A CLUTCH IN EVERY 17,000 MILES OR SO. I ALSO HAD THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION ARM REPLACED AT 19,000 MILES. AT THIS TIME I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION STARTER STICKING AND CAUSING A SCRATCHING NOISE WHEN I START MY CAR. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO DRIVE BUT MY VEHICLE WAS JERKING REALLY BAD. I PRAYED DRIVING DOWN THE ACCESS ROAD THAT I WOULD JUST MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 10 MILES AWAY. I PULLED IN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THEY KEPT MY CAR OVERNIGHT AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND WHEN THEY TURNED IT ON NO WRENCH LIGHT. ONE WEEK LATER, MY CAR DID THIS AGAIN...EXCEPT THIS TIME I LEFT MY VEHICLE ON SO THEY COULD SEE THE WRENCH LIGHT. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP...FAULTY. ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON MY 2006 MUSTANG V6. NOW IT IS NOV. AND MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS GONE. AFTER OWNING 6 STANDARD VEHICLES THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD A CLUTCH GO OUT. STARTING AT APPROX. 50MPH I EXPERIENCE A SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, MOST OF THE TIME. FROM TIME TO TIME IT WILL NOT SHIMMY WHEN I REACH THE 50MPH BUT AS SOON AS I STOP AND START AGAIN THE SHIMMY RETURNS. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT WORK THE PARKING SPACE SHE USUALLY PARKS IN WAS OCCUPIED. SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO CIRCLE A SMALL ISLAND TO RETURN TO THE ENTRANCE DRIVE WHERE THE PARKING SPACES ARE. ON THE 27TH OF MAY 2006 I TOOK MY MUSTANG GT WITH ONLY 1,069 MILES TO BRUNSWICK FORD. THE CAR WAS SHIFTING LIKE A 95 GT HARD TO SHIFT ON THE WAY MY FUEL JET PUMP WENT OUT. THEY FIXED THE JET PUMP BUT SAID THE TRANS WAS FINE. AT 3,556 MILES I TOOK IT BACK FOR THE TRANSMISSION . IT WAS MAKING A WINDING SOUND THEY REPLACED THE INTERNALS AND THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. SO THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAD TO BLEED THE CLUTCH 4 TIMES TO GET IT TO SHIFT HALF WAY RIGHT .NOW AT 5,713 MILES THE REAR CALIPER WAS STICKING. THE REPLACED THE CALIPER. AND IT LEFT ME STRANDED AT WORK WITH A STUCK CALIPER. THIS IS A MUSTANG GT NOT A PINTO AND FORD NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A PLAN TO FIX THIS CAR. *NM

ONE BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD, THE SECOND BECAUSE THERE WAS A THROTTLE VARIANCE AND A VARIANCE IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE WRENCH CAME ON IN THE VEHICLE THEN DISAPPEARED. THIS WAS CHECKED AND SUPPOSEDLY NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR, BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND NEVER CAME BACK ON. DEALER SAID IT DIDN'T DO IT THERE SO NOTHING WAS DONE. NEXT, CAR STARTED HESITATING AFTER DRIVING ON HWY COUPLE HRS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND GEAR BOX WAS HOT AND RATTLING SO THEY REPLACED IT. THEN CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN FROM 50 TO 90 MILES HR. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING THAT WAS AT 8300 MILES NOW AT 9700 MILES CAR HAS TAKING OFF AGAIN FROM 40 TO 80 WHEN OUR DAUGHTER PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD OUR DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS ARE TO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW AND ITS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP FOR 2 FULL WEEKS ALSO THE PAINT ON THE PASSENGER REAR FENDER IS BUBBLING OFF THE CAR. A 2006 FORD MUSTANG, WITH 5400 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WAS INVOLVED IN A TWO VEHICLE TRAFFIC COLLISION. THE DRIVER OF THE MUSTANG REAR ENDED A FORD RANGER PICKUP TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAG OF THE MUSTANG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK AND RESTRAIN THE DRIVER. SINCE BOTH RESTRAINT SYSTEMS FAILED, THE DRIVER OF THE MUSTANG STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL WITH HER CHEST. EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED BY THE MUSTANG. ON 5/18/06 I DROVE FROM BRANSON, MO TO KANSAS CITY, MO. I STAYED IN KANSAS CITY TILL SUNDAY ONLY DOING IN TOWN DRIVING THE FOUR DAYS THREE NIGHTS I WAS THERE. DURING THE TRIP HOME SUNDAY MID-DAY I WAS AVERAGING BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE HOME I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT. AFTER ABOUT A 45 SECOND STOP AT THE LIGHT I WENT TO ACCELERATE. AS I SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR THE CAR DROVE NORMAL FOR ABOUT 35-40 SECONDS, SUDDENLY LOST POWER THEN JOLTED FORWARD. I ENCOUNTERED THIS SPORADIC JOLTING FOUR TIMES DURING MY DRIVE HOME. TWICE IN SECOND GEAR AND TWICE IN FOURTH. THREE OUT OF FOUR TIME NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES ACCORDING TO MY PERSONAL RESEARCH. I DON'T FEEL AS THOUGH THESE VEHICLES ARE SAFE TO DRIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
