The contact stated that the transmission, on occasion, did not shift into second and third gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed clutch pad. The contact was informed that the clutch pad needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and did not assist. The contact was informed to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

The contact stated while the vehicle was parked the contact wife who was in the passenger heard a loud noise coming from the vehicle, when she noticed that the vehicle had shifted into driver and was rolling frontwards crashing into a boulder cause the vehicle to stop completely. No one was injured, a police report was filed. The dealer was contacted, and they stated there was nothing they could. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 68,000. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS WIFE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND TWO HERNIATED DISCS; IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE OTHER DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED (#159951319-M). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNDER INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN ONE YEAR SINCE IT BROKE DOWN LAST AND NOW I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM. THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER HAS FAILED AND LEAD TO SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN FAILURE BROKEN ROCKER ARM AND MAYBE DAMAGE TO THE PISTON IT HAS BEEN PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AND INTERSECTION AND MY CAR STALLED LUCKILY IT STARTED ONCE MORE JUST LONG ENOUGH TO GET IT OFF THE BUSY ROAD. THERE WAS BOLTS ON THE VALVE COVER THAT'S WEREN'T EVEN DRILLED THROUGH THE PLASTIC VALVE COVER. THERE IS NO REASON A FAIRLY NEW MOTOR SHOULD HAVE MALFUNCTIONED LIKE THIS.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD MUSTANG (WITH A V6 ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AT 40MPH ON A LOCAL STREET, I EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY LOSING POWER AND A FAULT LIGHT IN THE FORM OF A WRENCH APPEARING ON THE DASHBOARD. THE ENGINE SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO IDLE AND DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY GAS PEDAL OPERATION. THE CARS ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE RAN ROUGHLY AS EVIDENCE OF IT SHAKING THE ENTIRE CAR. THE INCIDENT PLACED MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME IN DANGER, AS I HAD TO MOVE QUICKLY TO GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE MOVING TRAFFIC AND INTO A SAFE PLACE OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

The mechanic later informed the contact that the steering box was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. WHILE TURNING IN A PARKING LOT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN AND THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED TO THE RIGHT. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. I WENT INTO A STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THREE RESTARTS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I FINALLY MANUALLY CRANKED THE WHEEL UNTIL I HEARD A LOUD THUD AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AGAIN AT WHICH POINT THE ISSUE RESOLVED. I DRIVE 110 MILES EACH WAY TO WORK. THE MUSTANG HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN GET PEOPLE KILLED. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS IN THE SAME YEAR BY FORD WITH THE SAME SYSTEM. I WILL BE TRADING THE CAR ASAP. THESE CARS ARE DEATH TRAPS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES.

INTERMITTENT STEERING ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC STEERING, WHICH CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIOLENTLY JERK OUT OF YOUR HANDS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IT FAILS, ITS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS - DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, STUCK IN TRAFFIC, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, ETC. IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY, AND RIDICULOUS FORD HASN'T ISSUED A WARRANTY FOR THEIR STEERING ISSUE.

I DECIDED TO DROP THE CONVERTIBLE TOP OF MY 2011 FORD MUSTANG WHEN THE WEATHER DECIDED TO CHANGE I WAS PRESSING THE BUTTON TO LET THE TOP UP. NOTHING IS HAPPENING ALL FUEL'S ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BATTERY IS GOOD THE PUMP UNDER THE BACK SEAT IS AT IT'S RITE LEVEL. I HAD TO PARK FOR HOURS UNDER SHEAD UNTIL THE RAIN STOPS AN WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO A FRIEND HOUSE WHO WAS GLADLY TO LET ME PARK THE CAR IN HIS GARAGE. I WAS PARK AT A GAS STATION.

WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY AS WELL AS MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT AND I HAVE NO POWER IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. IT STARTS TO WORK AND WILL GO OFF FOR A BIT BUT DOES THE SAME AGAIN. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A CUSTOMER SATIS. PROGRAM 16B23 LETTER THAT WENT OUT TO FIX THIS THAT I NEVER RECEIVED. FORD NOW WILL NOT HONOR IT TO BE FIXED D/T THE LETTER EXPIRED 9/30/17. THE LETTER I NEVER RECEIVED.

WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 IN FT. LAUDERDALE, FLDURING RUSH HOUR I REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT, SPEED APPROXIMATELY 30MPH OR LESS BEFORE APPLYING BRAKES. CAR NOSE DIVED AND HIT REAR OF OTHER CAR GOING UNDER THE REAR BUMPER. MY CAR SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE OF BOTH FENDERS, HEADLIGHTS, RADIATOR. FRONT BUMPER WAS UNTOUCHED, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I TURNED IGNITION OFF, PUT CAR IN PARK, STEPPED OUT OF CAR AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 - 5 MINUTES FIRE WAS VISIBLE BELOW BUMPER THAT RAPIDLY TURNED INTO A FULL FLEDGED FIRE ENGULFING THE ENTIRE CAR. THE COLLISION CAUSED NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR PAST THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE, FLYWHEELS UNTOUCHED. FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED TO PUT OUT FIRE. NO EXPLOSION OCCURRED. THE COLLISION SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED A FIRE

6/22/2015: I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY CAR SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. IT IS VERY SUBTLE WHEN IT HAPPENED; NO JERKY MOVEMENT NOTICED. I REALIZED WHAT HAVE HAPPENED AFTER MY FAILED ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE CAR'S MOMENTUM TO MAKE IT TO A PARKING LOT. I STEP OUT AND EXAMINED MY CAR BUT NOTHING WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY. AFTER 10 MINUTES, I ATTEMPTED TO START IT UP (FIRST ATTEMPT AFTER INCIDENT) AND IT STARTED UP NORMALLY. EVERYTHING FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL AND EVEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS GONE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE INCIDENT SO I DROVE HOME AND FORGOT ABOUT IT. 6/30/2015: I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY ENGINE CUT OFF AGAIN. I WAS VERY SCARED BECAUSE I WAS ON THE CALIFORNIA 91 FREEWAY AND IT WAS DURING TRAFFIC HOURS. I WAS ABLE TO DRAW EXPERIENCE FROM THE LAST INCIDENT AND CRUISED MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE A 2011 MUSTANG THAT I KEEP COVERED AND CLEAN ALWAYS. THIS MONTH THE PAINT ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD STARTED BUBBLING. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAVE DONE NOTHING AND WOULD DO NOTHING TO FIX IT. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL FORD. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WRITE A LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO FORD. NOTHING IS RESOLVED. IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS MATTER, PLEASE ADD MY NAME TO THE LIST OF CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE BEEN WRONGED. I NOTICED A YEAR AND A HALF AGO THE PAINT ON THE HOOD WAS BUBBLING UP SO I WENT TO 2 DEALERSHIPS AND ASKED WHAT CAN BE DONE. BOTH SAID NOTHING. IT HAS TO RUST BEFORE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE. NOW, HALF OF THE FRONT OF THE HOOD'S PAINT HAS BUBBLED UP AND PEELED OFF. THIS CHEAP PAINT ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR FORD.

THERE IS BUBBLING PAINT ON THE ALUMINUM HOOD OF MY CAR. THE CORROSION AND BLISTERING IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS. THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT SHOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE. THIS IS NO FAULT OF MINE. GARAGED AND ONLY 32,500 MILES. SMALL AMOUNTS OF BUBBLING HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR A WHILE, AND RECENTLY SPREAD TO A LARGER AREA. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE HOOD.

THERE WERE MANY INCIDENTS WITH MY MUSTANG 5.0 BUT THIS WAS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT. THE PROBLEM IS AS I FOUND OUT TWO YEARS LATER IS THAT THE WIDTH OF THE OEM TIRES AND WHEELS ARE TOO NARROW FOR THE WEIGHT AND POWER OF THIS VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON EL CAMINO REAL AND I HAD TO STOP SUDDENLY BECAUSE A CAR CAME ON THE ROAD UNEXPECTEDLY AND THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME HIT THE BRAKES AND SO I DID BUT MY CAR JUST KEPT SLIDING FORWARD, IT LOST GRIP WITH THE ASPHALT COMPLETELY. I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS MANY TIMES WHEN TAKING TURNS WHERE MY REAR WOULD SPIN AROUND THE FRONT WHICH RENDERS THE CAR OUT OF CONTROL SWINGING LEFT AND RIGHT IN BOTH LANES ON THE ROAD. WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 V6 MUSTANG THE CAR WILL COMPLETELY LOOSE POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON SIDE STREETS. THERE IS NO WARNING. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR IS FORCED TO IDLE. NO RESPONSE AT ALL TO THROTTLE INPUT. ERROR CODE READ IS P2111 WHICH INDICATES "THROTTLE ACTUATOR "A" CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN". IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IN THIS VEHICLE IS THE SAME AS USED IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THOSE OTHER VEHICLES BUT EVERYONE SUFFERING FROM THIS ON THE V6 MUSTANG IS ON THEIR OWN. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE LEFT LANE OF THE SAWGRASS EXPRESSWAY, A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY BETWEEN FT. LAUDERDALE AND MIAMI, I LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND I WENT FROM 60 MPH DOWN TO NOTHING BY THE TIME I WAS OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CARS BEHIND ME WERE OBVIOUSLY BRAKING HARD TO AVOID SMASHING INTO ME. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL AAA, BUT THE HEAT INDEX THAT DAY WAS AROUND A MILLION DEGREES SO I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. I WAS TRAVELING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT THE SPEED LIMIT (75 MPH IN THIS AREA OF TEXAS) AND HAD JUST CHANGED LANES WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT GO, I KEPT PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. TAKING OFF FROM A STOP SIGN AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR, RESULTED IN ONLY BEING ABLE TO SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO NEUTRAL. ONCE THE SHIFTER MOVED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER ABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING WITH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COMING ON. PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TURNED OFF CAR AND RAN FINE AFTERWARDS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ABS INDEPENDENTLY ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR FAILED AND THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK AND NOTICED SOME COOLANT LEAKING OUT OF MY CAR. I POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW COOLANT SEEPING FROM THE WEEP HOLE. WHEN I CRANKED THE CAR BACK UP, COOLANT STARTED POURING OUT UNDERNEATH THE CAR, BAD WATER PUMP. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP TODAY AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THE HOSE LEADING TO WATER PUMP BECAUSE IT ALLOWS AIR IN AND CAUSES THE WATER PUMP TO FAIL. THE ENTIRE AREA HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW HOSE THAT INCLUDES A CHECK VALVE, SO IT DOESN'T CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I WAS TOLD ANY CAR THAT CAME IN WITHOUT A CHECK VALVE HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH THE NEW HOSE INCLUDING A CHECK VALVE AND THAT I HAVE TO INCUR THE ENTIRE EXPENSE $486 PLUS TAX BECAUSE HOSES ARE NOT COVERED BY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD DUE TO NO RECALL, I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS SERVICE. EVEN THOUGH, HE ALSO ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ISSUED BY FORD REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE MUSTANG FORUMS. FORD IS REFUSING TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. LUCKILY, I WAS AT HOME WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND NOT OUT TRAVELING THE HIGHWAY. DRIVING UP HILL GOING ABOUT 20. ORANGE WRENCH ICON COMES ON AND I LOSE ALL ACCELERATION. HAD TO PULL OVER GOING UP A HILL LOSING ACCELERATION FAST WHEN CARS ARE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BARELY MADE IT TO A TURN AND PARKED MY CAR. HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A MINUTE AND TURN IT BACK ON. TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED WHAT COULD BE THE ISSUE. LOOKING OVER THE INTERNET, IT IS CLEAR THAT 2011 MUSTANGS WHERE BUILT WITH THE SAME TYPE OF ETB AS THE MODELS COVERED UNDER THE PROGRAM (FUSION, ESCAPE, MERCURY MARINER AND MERCURY MILAN). THE PROGRAM EXTENDS THE WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY TO A TOTAL OF 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES FROM THE WARRANTY START DATE, WHICH EVER OCCURS FIRST. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE ABOUT 70 MPH. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR SPEED DROPPED SLOWLY UNTIL IT REACHED ABOUT 20 MPH WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD NOT PICK SPEED BACK UP. THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND I PULLED OVER. WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK IT WOULD NOT REV AT ALL. ONCE THE CAR WAS BACK IN MOTION IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 15MPH. AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THE BATTERY RESET THE CAR WAS WORKING LIKE NORMAL FOR A FEW DAYS. THE CAR STOPPED TAKING GAS ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO STOP, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART. WITHIN 2 WEEKS IT HAPPEND SEVERAL TIMES, 1 WEEK AFTER THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED 7 TIMES IN ONE HOUR. THE FORD GARAGE SENT US HOME AFTER THE FIRST TIME, WE SHOULD WATCH. THEN WE SHOULD WAIT 4 WEEKS FOR A REPAIR (MISSING PARTS). FINALLY THEY REPAIRED IT 1 DAY PRIOR TO OUR DEPARTURE BACK HOME. IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH HAD TO BE EXCHANGED. BUT WE DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY SUPPORT FROM FORD OR FROM THE DEALER (GALLOWAY IN FT.MYERS). WE PAID OVER 1000$. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 42000 MILES.

THE HEAD RESTRAINT DESIGN ON THE 2011 FORD MUSTANG IS DEFECTIVE FOR TALLER DRIVERS. I AM 6' 1" BUT MY 5' 8" WIFE ALSO COMPLAINS. EVEN AT ITS TALLEST ADJUSTMENT, I MUST HOLD MY HEAD FORWARD IN AN UNNATURAL AND FATIGUING POSITION. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS COMPLAINT, AS THE MUSTANG FORUMS ARE FILLED WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DRIVERS -- MANY OF WHOM REPORT SIMPLY REMOVING THE HEAD RESTRAINT ALTOGETHER. ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS, FORD SAYS TO INCREASE THE ANGLE OF THE SEATBACK, BUT THEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TOO FAR AWAY -- AND I DO NOT HAVE SHORT ARMS (35" SLEEVE LENGTH). MY CURRENT SOLUTION IS TO RAISE THE HEAD RESTRAINT ABOUT 2" HIGHER THAN THE HIGHEST DETENT PROVIDED BY FORD. EVEN THOUGH THE UNIT IS STILL IN PLACE, AND SEEMS SECURE WHEN I PUSH ON IT, I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HOW IT WILL PERFORM IN A CRASH BECAUSE IT IS NOT LATCHED INTO PLACE AND THERE'S LESS OF THE RODS DOWN IN THE SEATBACK FOR SUPPORT. THE OTHER ALTERNATIVE IS TO REMOVE THE UNIT ALTOGETHER, AS SOME OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS HAVE REPORTED DOING. FORD'S DESIGN FORCES TALLER DRIVERS INTO ONE OF THREE UNSAFE MODES: 1. I have a beautiful 2011 Ford Mustang that has been rendered useless because the brake lights and turn signals continually blow a fuse. The car cannot be repaired because Ford quit making the needed part after the car was 8 years old. This not only creates an unnecessary expense of purchasing a new car it is also a safety hazard. After extensively searching for the part on the internet I found many cases of people needing that part with no luck finding it. As info the part number is AR3Z13C788F. How many people will be driving around without brake lights and turn signals because Ford decided brake lights aren't necessary after a car is 8 years old.

WITH NO WARNING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WILL FAIL CAUSING THE CAR TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE TO ITS IDLE SPEED. IN MY CASE IT HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE MOTORIST BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR-ENDED MY CAR, AND SEVERAL OTHER HAD TO COME TO A SCREECHING HALT. THE PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS, SINCE IT CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME IN TRAFFIC. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON. SINCE THE ISSUE IS KNOWN IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR RANGE, THE COMPANY SHOULD BE COMMUNICATING THE ISSUE TO CUSTOMERS AND PROACTIVELY REPLACING THE FAULTY PART.

WHEN THE CAR WAS ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD, I STARTED TO FEEL A QUICK LOSS OF POWER IN THE STEERING WHEN MAKING A TURN. STILL DOING THE DANCE TO CRANK CAR. WORKS MOST OF THE TIME SOMETIMES HAVE TO DO IT TWICE. I CHANGE IT AND DRAINED THE WATER MYSELF. MY CAR AC RAN BETTER THAN EVER UP TO YESTERDAY. MY AC IS NOT BLOWING THE ICE COLD AIR AND THEIR IS LOTS OF WATER ON THE BACK FLOOR. I HAVE HEATED SEATS. THIS BEGAN AS OF LAST THURSDAY. I HAVE A 2011 FORD MUSTANG THAT I BOUGHT JUST LAST AUGUST. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR SEEMED TO HAVE STALLED ON ME. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS POURING DOWN RAINING SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT SINCE I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AFTER IT SEEMED TO VIBRATE A BIT, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS, TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT SEEMED FINE. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AND PARK IT ONLY A FEW MILES FROM WHERE IT HAPPENED. I HAD A DOC APPOINTMENT LATER THAT DAY AND WAS ABLE TO GET THERE. IT WAS WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY HOME THAT IT HAPPENED AGAIN, ON THE FREEWAY! IT OCCURRED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY (FRIDAY) AS I WAS LEAVING FROM WORK. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN IN BUSY TRAFFIC AND IT HAPPENED TWICE EXCEPT THE SECOND TIME, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY DAD TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, IT WAS HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER AND NO CODE CAME BACK. COOLANT WAS PUT IN IT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED. EVERYTHING WAS FINE AFTERWARDS. TODAY, I'M DRIVING TO WORK AND IT GOES INTO LIMP MODE TWICE ON THE FREEWAY WHILE DRIVERS ARE SWERVING AROUND ME! THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL! I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR SO THIS IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE FIXED ASAP. TO ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE BE CAREFUL. I RESET THE COMPUTER WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ABOUT $170.00 ANDTHERE WAS ABOUT A 50% CHANCE THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM SO I KEPT MY MONEY AND LEFT. DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND MANY DIFFERENT FORUMS WHERE PEOPLE WITH MUSTANGS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR ETB ( ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY) ON THEIR VEHICLE BUT FORD SAYS THERE IS NO ISSUE. WHILE DOING MY RESEARCH I FOUND WHERE FORD ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM NO. 13N03 ON FUSIONS, ESCAPES, AND MILIANS FOR A DEFECTIVE EBT BUT THE MUSTANG IS NOT COVERED OR ACKNOWLEDGED EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THAT IM HAVING. TWICE WHILE ACCELERATING TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ON CLEAR, FLAT, DRY, AND SMOOTH PAVEMENT THE ADVANCTRAC SYSTEM ACTIVATED FOR NO REASON. IT STARTS BY VERY AGGRESSIVELY PULSING THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR LEFT BRAKE, THEN ALTERNATING BRAKES ALL THE WAY AROUND CAUSING THE CAR TO SWERVE ALMOST OUT OF CONTROL, AT HIGHER SPEEDS LIKE 65-70 IT PROBABLY WOULD CAUSE TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. THE ADVANCTRAC ALSO CUTS ENGINE POWER ALONG WITH THE HARD SWERVING MAKES IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO AVOID A CRASH IN MULTIPLE LANE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THIS LAST FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS, BUT IT IS 15 SECONDS OF OUT OF CONTROL HIGHWAY TERROR. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR ON THE 2 OCCASIONS IT THEN DRIVES FOR A WHILE LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. WHEN THE FORD DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND IT DOES NOT RECORD ANY ERROR OR DIAGNOSTIC CODES IN THE CARS COMPUTER SYSTEM. SO FORD SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. TALKING WITH OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS I FOUND OUT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH ADVANCTRAC, AND ONE OTHER THAT I KNOW OF SAID HE ALSO FILLED A COMPLAINT ON HERE, HE SAID IT WAS COMPLAINT NUMBER - 10430166. HE ALSO SAID THAT FORD COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND HE ALSO HAD NO CODES, SO FORD WOULD NOT FIX HIS PROBLEM. AFTER SEVERAL MILES UPHILL, THE VEHICLE HAD BEGUN TO TRAVEL DOWNHILL. AFTER LESS THAN ONE MILE, THE STEERING WAS UNRESPONSIVE; DRIVER'S INPUT ASSUMED HYDRAULIC RESPONSE. THERE WAS NONE. THE VEHICLE HIT THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN; VERY NARROW SHOULDER DIDN'T ALLOW FOR ERROR. THE CAR OVERTURNED. THE 'BLACK BOX' LOCATED IN THE STEERING WHEEL COLLECTS A VOLUME OF DATA EXCEPT ONE IMPORTANT FACT: STEERING WHEEL ANGLE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS POSITIONED TO MISS THE MOUNTAIN BUT NOT TO ENTER THE ON-COMING LANE. THE STEERING DIDN'T REACT. WHY WAS THIS ESSENTIAL DATA NOT RECORDED WHEN MANY OTHER TRIVIAL COMPUTATIONS ARE PRESENT? I BELIEVE FORD UNDERSTANDS THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND OMITS THE STEERING WHEEL ANGLE BECAUSE OF LIABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS RENTED FROM HERTZ. THEY FAILED TO ADVISE THE CUSTOMER OF THE SLOW RESPONSE OF ELECTRONIC STEERING. SECOND: PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS POSITIONED HIGH AND THE HEADREST PROTRUDES, MAKING AN OCCUPANT OF AVERAGE SIZE 'SLOUCH' TO AVOID THE UNCOMFORTABLE STRAP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE AFTER MARKET PROGRAMMER AND AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE EXHIBITED AN INTERNAL MOTOR FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AND VOIDED THE WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7, 800.
