Several attempts have been made to attain an appointment to remedy this recall with a local dealership (Long-Lewis) in Corinth, MS. As of today, I have made six attempts to talk with service about this recall, no response has yet been offered. My concern is that I have been driving this vehicle since I purchased new in February 2008 with a potential grenade imitating an air bag and Ford Motor company and or their dealerships do not seem to take this concern seriously. Why is the Federal government (NHSTA) so passive about safety?

Recently purchased this truck and apparetly the passeenger air bag was missing or had previosly failed by imploding. I do not now the history of vehicle. I Carried the truck to Rockwall Ford in Rockwall, Texas to have the air bag recall taken care off. After being there for a week the service manager called me and said Ford would not pay for this since passenger air bag was missing. Ford said I would need to pay for the service myself. I have a major problem with Ford now because they are obligated by law to repace the air bags regardless any of prior events. Priors are totally irrevelant and meaningless. End result I want Ford Motor Company to replace the 2 air bags a no cost to me the consumer. Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Ranger. The contact received a notification for NHTSA campaign number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. Several dealers including AutoNation Ford Littleton (8252 S Broadway, Littleton, CO 80122), Schomp Ford (150 S Havana St, Aurora, CO 80012), O'Meara Ford (400 W 104th Ave, Northglenn, CO 80234), Larry H. Miller Ford Lakewood (11595 W 6th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215) and Phil Long Ford (1114 Motor City Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80905) were contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The rear frame is rotted I am a retired ASA certified in 5 categories Mechanic and I have my ranger apart now but I need new rear frame where the spring hangers rotted out and the bracket that runs the top of the gas tank is rotted out that holds the 2 frame rails is rotted out. THESE PIECES CANNOT BE WELDED. Needs a new frame.

REAR END OF TRUCK IS ROTTING AWAY SPARE TIRE HOLDER BROKE WHILE DRIVING SPARE WAS HANGING DOWN HAD TO BE REMOVED LUCKILY IT STAYED ATTACHED TO THE TRUCK WITH THE CABLE AND DIDN'T HIT ANY VEHICLE'S THE BED IS EXTREMELY RUSTED IF I GET IN THE BACK OF THE BED IT CRACKS AND FEELS LIKE YOUR GOING TO FALL THROUGH BED IS BECOMING LOOSE AND LEANING TO ONE SIDE. Upon inspection, the contact became aware that the rear spring hangers had detached. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. MONDAY 6/3/13 WENT TO START CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. YOU HEAR CLICKING IN THE FUSE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PUT KEY TO JUST BEFORE START OR ACCESSORIES AND THE LIGHTS COME ON AND RADIO TURNS ON BUT IF YOU TOUCH THE BREAKS IT ALL SHORTS OUT. THE FAILURE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN COMING OFF A DOWN HILL RAMP CURVING TO THE RIGHT WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AS WELL AS MOVING . THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL JUST QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING SAME WITH HIGH BEAMS. I NOTIFIED AND ASKED FORD TODAY IF THIS WAS NORMAL .

I HAVE NOTICED THE WHOLE SPINDLE (THE PART THAT THE BRAKES ARE BOLTED TO AND THE WHEEL IS CONNECTED TO) HAS EXCESSIVE RUST SO BAD IF IS COMING OFF IN LARGE PIECES. THE TRUCK WAS NEVER IN WATER OR EXPOSED TO EXCESSIVE SALT ON THE ROADS, ALWAYS KEEP IN A GARAGE OR CARPORT. FROM WHERE THE TOP BALL JOINT BOLTS ON, TO WHERE THE BOTTOM BALL JOINT BOLTS ON, ITS NOTHING BUT RUST. SO MUCH RUST HAS COME OFF THAT IT IS ACTUALLY GETTING SMALLER, ESPECIALLY UP WHERE THE TOP BALL JOINT BOLTS ON BECAUSE IT IS SMALLER IN SIZE. I HAVE SPRAYED RUST KILLER ON IT BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IT BREAKING FROM GETTING WEAK BECAUSE OF SO MUCH OF THE METAL TURNING TO RUST AND FALLING OFF! IF IT SHOULD BREAK THE WHOLE WHEEL WOULD COME OFF! THIS IS THE ONLY METAL PART ON THE TRUCK THAT IS DOING THIS AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I THINK FORD BOUGHT SOME BAD PARTS FROM SOMEWHERE THAT WAS MADE OF CHEAP METAL. I THINK YOU ARE GOING TO SEE MANY MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AS PEOPLE NOTICE IT. THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD BLINK INTERMEDIATELY AND IF THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF WHILE THAT IS HAPPENING, THE ENGINE IMMOBILIZER WOULD ENGAGE AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I DROVE THE TRUCK THIS WAY FOR A WHILE AND JUST LET IT RUN AND NOT SHUT IT OFF. FORD DIDN;T KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. EVENTUALLY I FOUND OUT THAT THE WIRING HARNESS THAT CAME TOGETHER IN A Y SHAPE, AND WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SECURELY TAPED ONLY HAD ONE STRAND OF TAPE WRAPPED AROUND THE WIRES. THE METAL, WHERE THE WIRES WENT THROUGH HAD RUBBED THROUGH THE ONE STRAND OF ELECTRICAL TAPE AND INTO ONE OF THE WIRES OCCASIONALLY SHORTING IT OUT, THUS SETTING OFF THE ENGINE IMMOBILIZER. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW SO IT HAD TO HAVE CAME FROM THE FACTORY THAT WAY. IT HAD LESS THAN 50 THOUSAND MILES WHEN IT STARTED AND YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WAS GOING TO DO IT, SITTING, DRIVING, CITY, HIGHWAY, BUT USUALLY ALWAYS RUNNING, UNLESS IT WAS SHUT OFF WHILE IT WAS DOING IT AND THEN TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN. IT WOULD NOT CRANK OVER , JUST LIKE THERE WAS NO BATTERY IN IT. IT WAS MY FIRST NEW VEHICLE AND WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. THE TRUCK WAS WIRED FOR FOG LIGHTS BUT NO LIGHTS THEMSELVES IN IT, JUST PLASTIC COVERS. THE SHORT WAS ON THE FOG LIGHT WIRE WHERE THE WIRES WENT THROUGH THE FRONT METAL PANNEL THE RADIATOR WAS BOLTED ON. I WROTE IN BEFORE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS BUT HAD NOT FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS THEN. FORD SAID IT MAY BE THE CLUSTER, BUT IT WASN'T. THEY ALSO SAID THEY DIDNT KNOW FOR SURE WHAT IT WAS. IT WENT ON LAST YEAR TILL I FIXED IT THIS YEAR WITH A ROLL OF ELECTRICAL TAPE THAT FORD WAS EITHER TOO CHEAP TO USE OR POOR WORKMANSHIP. IT STARTED LAST YEAR AND TOOK ME TILL THIS YEAR TO FIX IT.

WHILST DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON I APPROACHED A LARGE HILL. I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH TO DOWN SHIFT & DRIVE UP THE HILL TO DRIVE UP THE HIL IN A LOWER GEAR AND WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL ON. WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED THE THROTTLE STUCK DOWN/THE CRUISE CONTROL CLUTCH DISCONNECT SWITCH FAILED CAUSING A SPIKE IN ENGINE RPM WHILE IN NEUTRAL. THE RPM RACED PAST 6500 BEFORE I MANAGED TO CONTROL IT. THIS BRIEF SPIKE CAUSED A PROBABLE BLOWN HEADGASKET AND PRESSURE IN MY COOLANT SYSTEM BLOWING MY COOLANT OUT OF A STRIPPED BLOCK HEATER VENTING MY COOLANT OVERBOARD AND CAUSING AN OVER TEMP SITUATION. I MANAGED TO GET IT TO A SHOP IN SLAVE LAKE AND AFTER $520 IN REPAIRS I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK HOME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION AT MY MECHANICS, HE DETERMINED THE HEAD GASKETS WERE NOT THE FAILURE POINT. DUE TO THE REMOTENESS OF MY TOWN AND A LACK OF CYLINDER HEAD TESTING FACILITIES, I OPTED TO GET A ENGINE PULLED FROM A SIMILAR RANGER PUT IN TO MY RANGER. NOW I HAVE OXYGEN SENSOR ISSUES I HAVE REPLACED THEM ONCE ALREADY AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME CHECK ENGINE CODE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP. 2008 FORD RANGER. HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW (6) TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE RPM'S GO UP, THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER, AND STALLS. SOME TIMES WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I'M IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE RPM'S GO UP SO HIGH, THAT I HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH TIME, TRYING TO GET THE THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 5949 MILES ON IT. THIS TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR (8) DAYS. FORD EVEN SENT THERE ENGINEERS OUT TO REPLACE THE DASH CLUSTER HARNESS. DIDN'T WORK. FORD ENGINEERS CAME BACK OUT , AND CHANGED THE FUEL SENSOR. THAT DIDN'T WORK. FORD ENGINEERS CHANGED THE 4022 AND THE 2022 PINS. STILL DIDN'T WORK. THEY HAVE RETESTED THE SYSTEM. SAME PROBLEM TIME AFTER TIME. THEY NOW REFUSE TO LEMON LAW THE TRUCK. HOW MUCH MORE OF THIS, SHOULD I HAVE TO TAKE, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ROTATE THE TIRES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE TREAD WAS "CHOPPING" OR UNEVEN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRE WEAR WAS A RESULT OF PULLING HIS TRAILER ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING THE TRAILER PULLING DEVICE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CARRY BETWEEN 3,000-3,500 LBS. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES, WHICH WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS INSTRUCTED BY FORD TO ADJUST THE TORSION BAR. THE FAILURE WAS DISCOVERED TO BE A MECHANICAL ISSUE, RATHER THAN A TIRE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR MAKES A LOUD RATTLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. AFTER CAREFUL INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DOOR MOVES AS IF IT IS NOT PROPERLY LATCHED. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR DURING THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,200.

THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY, 750-850 MILES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS , THE TRUCKS (RPMS) GOES UP, 1200 RPMS. IF THERE IS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER SHIP (4) TIMES NOW. FORD HAS HAD THEIR ENGINEERS, COME OUT AND TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. FORD HAS EVEN REPLACED THE DASH WIRE HARNESS, AND THE TRUCK HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT THE TRUCK, CAN CAUSE A CRASH. THE FIRST TIME WAS 3-21-08 , SECOND TIME 4-07-08, THIRD TIME 4-24-08, FOURTH TIME 6-02-08. THE SAID TRUCK ONLY HAS 44,43 MILES. NO INCIDENT YET. I'M FEARFUL THAT THERE WILL BE AN INCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE SIDE DOORS ARE DAMAGED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE OCCUPANTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL LATCH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THERE HAS BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. UPDATED 06/23/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CAN NO SEAT 3 PEOPLE IN THE FRONT BECAUSE THE CENTER SEAT'S FOOT SPACE IS FIILLED BY A PLASTIC TRY ON THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE REAR HALF DOORS WERE DESOGNED TO NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE.
