I brought my 2017 Honda Civic to an authorized dealership in Phoenix, AZ in June 2025 for A/C issues. Honda has issued an extended warranty on A/C compressors and condensers due to known defects, and my compressor was found to be leaking and covered under that warranty. However, the dealership refused to perform the warranty repair unless I agreed to pay $2,311 out of pocket to replace the evaporator, citing signs of dye in the evaporator case. I declined, and the compressor repair was denied. When I picked up the vehicle, the A/C system was worse than before. Before the inspection, the driver side blew 90°F air and the passenger side blew 68°F. After the inspection, both sides blow extremely hot air and there is a loud hissing noise coming from the dash. I now cannot operate the vehicle safely in 110°F+ Arizona heat. This is not just an inconvenience — it’s a potential safety hazard, particularly in a state like Arizona where cabin temperatures can become dangerous. Honda’s refusal to honor the warranty and deterioration of system function following the inspection suggest bad faith and put driver and passenger health at risk. I am filing this report to document the issue and to add to any investigation into this widespread A/C defect on 2016–2018 Honda Civics.

The air conditioning system failed—specifically, the A/C evaporator developed a leak and stopped functioning. This is part of the same system that previously experienced failures in the compressor and condenser, both of which were replaced under warranty. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Loss of air conditioning, especially in hot weather, presents a heat-related safety risk, including reduced driver alertness and potential heat exhaustion—particularly for long drives or when transporting vulnerable passengers (e.g. children, elderly). Additionally, a non-functioning defogger (which relies on the A/C system) can impair visibility in humid or rainy conditions, increasing the risk of an accident.

I'm filing this complaint regarding my 2017 Honda Civic Touring (VIN: [XXX] , ~75,000 miles). The AC condenser failed, which Honda covered under an extended warranty (TSB 19-091). However, the AC compressor also failed, and Honda denied coverage, even for goodwill. I believe the compressor failure is a direct result of the leaking condenser with a possible compressor seal leak. Refrigerant loss causes the compressor to overwork and lose lubrication, leading to premature failure. The car mechanic had noted how low our refrigerant fluid was. A compressor should last well beyond 73,000 miles, typically 100,000-150,000+. This early failure, linked to a known condenser defect, points to a systemic manufacturing flaw. Furthermore, the dealership's "blue light" test for leaks might have been inadequate. Honda's TSB 23-012 specifically requires a "calibrated sniffer" for compressor shaft seal leaks, a more rigorous diagnostic that may have been overlooked. This means a compressor seal leak, caused by the condenser issue, could have been missed. Widespread AC component failures (condensers and compressors) in 10th-gen Civics are well-documented, leading to class-action lawsuits. This is not an isolated incident but a pervasive defect. A sudden AC failure affects driver comfort and can be a safety concern, especially in extreme heat, by potentially causing distraction. I urge NHTSA to investigate this systemic issue and compel Honda to cover the compressor replacement, acknowledging the direct link and apparent manufacturing defect. Over the last few months I’ve noticed my 2017 Civic SI steering feeling delayed or episodically unresponsive while driving on the interstate. The best way to describe it is as momentarily sticking where it doesn’t respond when making small steering movements requiring an over correction then correction to the over correction. I’m reading this a known issue with civics but aren’t seeing the 2017s included. The car feels unsafe when this happens. Is it possible to include this model as well?

This vehicle has a defect in the steering rack, specifically the gearbox. Symptoms include sticky or glitchy steering movements of the steering wheel. This cases jerky adjustments in steering the car. Honda has known about this issue with 10th generation civics but has only addressed models 2022-2025 with a recalls. This car is an effort to drive at highway speeds.

My steering wheel kept jerking and pulling my car while driving and I was told my steering gearbox needs replaced. I find it odd that this was a recall on all 2017 Honda Civic but not with mine. I would think if the recall is there and a vehicle the same year has the problem, there would be an issue to resolve

Sticky steering wheel. It gets worse to steer above 50 to 60 miles an hour. Noise when it is turned. The steering has once locked when turned to an extreme angle.

While driving my Honda civic 2017, a loud static noise suddenly started coming from the vehicle’s audio system or speakers. The noise is persistent and does not stop unless I turn off the vehicle completely. This creates a significant distraction and could interfere with hearing emergency vehicles or other road sounds. This issue occurs randomly and is a serious safety concern.

About a week ago my car began going into accessory mode on its own leaving my interior and exterior lights, my dash board lights and my head unit on until i noticed so my car couldve been dead if i wouldnt have seen. also since the car is locked and it goes into accessory mode on its own the alarm starts going off due to the security system thinking its being broken into. ive done my research trying to figure out what the issue is and ive found a huge amount of other people are also dealing with this issue. during my research i found that the cause for the car going into accessory mode and the alarms going off is the body control module. so many people are saying they filed complaints and tried to get a hold of honda to try and get a recall started but nothing has come of it and im hoping that you guys can change that. i looked into the body control module and you cant even get the part right now due to very high demand and the part being on back order indefinitely due to so many people dealing with this issue. i hope something can come of this thank you.

BCM module in the 2017 Civics seem to have constant Parasitic Battery Drain issues that are not being addressed by Honda. My battery died and was replaced, drain continue on a daily basis. Was able to trace to BCM module. checked online to find numerous other people having the same exact issue.

My vehicles Body Control Module has malfunctioned and now I have to get a new one. When driving my car will begin to flash all of the warning lights including the power steering, break system, TMPS system and the immobilizer light. This is distracting while driving and it makes me feel like I am going to crash and I could injure myself or others on the road when these lights are distracting and I am not in a safe place to pull over. Honda Marysville has inspected the vehicle and has confirmed that the Body Control Module has failed. A bunch of alerts began to pop up and I was unsure of which ones to fix. I checked all my tires and they were within normal range so I was confused why my car was showing me the warning light. There were no other warnings that were shown. My car alarm would go off and the lights on the dash would flash when I turned my car off.

My paint has been coming off for a while now and now I have serious rust issues. I have gone in for inspection at the local Honda dealership and they recommended for me to contact Honda of America. I contacted them and they said that there was nothing that they could do. I shouldn't have to fork out money for a bad paint job. My car is rusting. Please help me.

Paint is coming off the car down to the metal. The paint has been recalled on other Honda vehicles. Paint #NH788P. . Several areas where paint has come off when driving on highways behind other vehicles.

Paint and finish bubbling and peeling on hood, roof, some on trunk. In the worst spots paint is worn away down to the metal, creating rusting hazard. On hood, peeled paint can blow onto the windshield, interfering with vision and distracting the driver. Vehicle has been inspected by a USAA insurance adjuster and by Rudolf Body and Paint in El Paso, TX.

I have noticed that the paint on my Honda Civic 2017 is flaking and peeling off. The issue is most apparent on the side of the rear view glass and near the right-side tail light which seems to be worsening over time. It was my sister’s car before she gave it to me. She took care of it before she passed away and now I’ll continue to take good care of her car and have not had any repainting or significant damage in the affected areas that I know of. This seems to be an issue with the paint adhering properly, and I am concerned about further damage, including potential rust which I’m starting to notice. I kindly request that Honda evaluate this as a possible manufacturing defect and let me know if it can be addressed under warranty. Attached are photos of the affected areas for your review. Please let me know the next steps to resolve this issue.

Had to get the fuel injectors replaced after faulty emissions notifications. Now the car stalls from start at a stop light or stop sign. The car also stalled in stop and go traffic on the highway. We have not been driving it over the winter. It's dangerous!

Cold start up issue where VTC Actuator is rattling and or grinding. This could potentially cause engine failure while starting or driving the vehicle. No check engine light or oil light. VTC Rattle/Grind occurred for 3-4 seconds and then stopped.

The chain stretched and camshaft tensioner had to be replaced. The tech said this could only happen with low or insufficient oil, but every oil change on this car was done on time. There was a previous settlement because this engine has a known defect where fuel gets into the oil. Honda refused to honor the extended warranty agreed to in the settlement because the error codes that came up were PO341 CMP Sensor A and CKP Sensor Incorrect Phase Detected) and we had to pay $2,348.30 for repair of parts (chain, camshaft tensioner) that should have lasted the life of the vehicle without replacement.

2017 Hatchbacks with the 1.5 liter engine 4 cylinder didn’t get an extended warranty yet all other Hondas with this engine did because of problems but not the hatchback when same parts and same problems I never want to buy a new Honda again . Had to get a coolant flush not soon after I bought it because car was over heating yet that’s all they did never looked by into why and then problem after problem . A night mare buying a new Honda . Seen many videos and read many threads of people with same year and sa b me complaints and I’ve contacted a lot of people and no place knows why the hatchbacks weren’t covered but other cars same engine same problem was. Had to rebuild engine and replace turbo at 103,00 miles after having to replace spark plugs every 7 thousand miles the whole time I owned it and adding coolant to it when dealership said it want a problem and did nothing about it and now at 130000 some miles car just keeps over heating and dealership just told me I need a new engine and wouldn’t tell me why and dealership never been helpful at all. Just look at my car and engine online and all the complaints. Then being told issue is fixed with an ECU update just don’t drive the car short distances with a lot of stop and goes only drive long distances and don’t drive in winter time . I lost it because how is that the problem being fixed . And all the carbon build up is insane. And the oil dilution problem still exists. All these defects and problems with a new car is insane . I figured a new car would be better but of course first new vehicle I buy is a Lemon and all these problems and Honda won’t do right by it . Car also going into what I call limo dick mode in middle of 4 lane high way is dangerous and doing that when car was under 20,000 miles and always has . Also parking brake still messes up even though it was recalled the problem still exists . Him screen occasionally freezes or goes blank or don’t work . Just non stop problems since bought new

My Honda recently has had 10 warning lights pop up went in for oil change they couldn’t tell me the issue came back for another diagnosis and they are saying the engine has oil dilution. This is a known issue for this engine. But why does it affect abs, traction control, wiper sensor, auto high beam detection. , all of the lane assist , cruise control, early warning crash detection? This can be dangerous when you can’t quickly get the car into a dealership. And if it’s know issue they need a recall or free fix.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated that a gasoline smell was detected in and around the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the closest independent repair shop and diagnosed with a fuel pump crack/failure. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) but the VIN was not included. The local dealership was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 88,000.

The Civic idles low after coming to a stop. Idles approximately 500 rpm’s. Periodically it will drop below 500 and stall. About 3 occurrences so far. Once at 500, there is no throttle response. The pedal can be fully depressed and the motor will continue to idle. Throttle response will occur anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds later. My work around is to take the car out of DRIVE and put it back. This solves problem. Mostly. I may have to do that a second time. Reverse is different. The car doesn’t move at all 100% of the time. And it takes me to move in and out of Reverse to get it to move. There are occasions that the throttle will activate. But, if you lift off the throttle…. It won’t engage. Below asks when this happens. It began over a year ago. I would depress the throttle and could count to 3 before going. Now it’s longer than 10. But, since I’ve learned about taking the car out of gear.

Fuel injectors failing before 65,000 miles, causing cylinder 1, 2, and 3 misfires consistently. This problem is known by Honda, but was never recalled. This is on all of the 1.5L engine models sold after 2016. They have even created a new part with the necessary flex joints to correct the issue, but charge out of pocket for inevitable and completely unavoidable replacement. This is nearly a $1400 repair from an OEM part that is guaranteed to fail around 60-70k miles. Multiple cylinder misfires have cause complete loss of throttle power and acceleration while driving on multiple occasions, and should provide cause for concern as an inoperable vehicle due to manufacturer quality failure is completely unsafe and should not be pinned on the owner of the vehicle. I have been left with no choice but to save up money, while living paycheck to paycheck in capitalist America, to replace these DEALERSHIP ONLY injectors while risking a flooding of catalytic converter with raw fuel due to system failure. Multiple safety features, including traction control and power steering assistance, are completely inoperable due to these misfires caused by faulty OEM fuel injectors. This issue is a SAFETY concern and also a vehicular health concern. I should not be given the “destroy your vehicle and risk your safety or replace a $1300 part out of pocket” dilemma because of quality failure at production levels.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the screeching sound stopped. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,646.

The issue I’m having is that the break red light in the orange brake system just appears randomly without me activating the break. on one occasion I parked the car without seeing any of those signals, then upon me coming out of the store, both signals appeared on the dashboard. my car was stuck in break four hours. After continuously, activating the electronic brake and inactivating it I was able to drive home. I am currently driving day two with both signals flashing on my dashboard. The wheels are rolling and not dragging so I’m not sure what’s going on. This is a safety hazard for not only myself or family, but for other drivers on the road because if this decides to just stop in the middle of the road activating the brakes I’m going to be in trouble and hopefully not life threatening trouble.

When braking at 30mph +, brake is very stiff. I also noticed that my brake rotors on the front right(passenger side) were clean or smooth, but on the brake rotors on the left side(driver side) were still rusted, because of water during the car washing. i knew that the front left brake arent braking. Did a proper brake bleeding on all four, and only the Front left had no fluid at all and the brake fluid was filled to full.

POWER TRAIN

Sudden loss of acceleration. CVT Transmission failure. Vehicle has been single owner and properly maintained, only 72K miles on it. There have been no issues with the transmission up to this incident. Pulling out of a parking lot the car revved and seemed like it wasn't going into gear. Car came to a complete stop in the middle of the road and could not move in any gear. We had it towed to the garage and they confirmed that the transmission oil was completely burnt and that the transmission needed replaced, which they agreed was completely premature.

The passenger side CVC axle is too short and everything that it calls for is 36 in and 1/8 the original is 38 and 5/16 it don't make no sense I've been talking to everyone

Suddenly loss of acceleration. Transmission failure. The vehicle is at Stonecrest Honda. If not for my quick action and low traffic this could have caused a serious accident had I been at highway speed in heavy traffic. Stone rest Honda has confirmed transmission failure. Only warning lamps were unrelated. Intermittent lamps for the brake system and O2 sensor. Both rarely come on. Have had codes ran multiple times no one is ever able to fix the O2 code even the Honda dealership the vehicle was purchased from. Break system lights have been addressed and updates have been done previously and had only re-appeared just before the incident. I have had no issues with my transmission or I would have had the vehicle serviced. No slipping no strange sounds. This came out of nowhere leaving a parking lot from work not even 20 mph. I buy Hondas for the reliability and to have my transmission go at not even 100k miles is almost unheard of. My last Honda was 250K+ and still ran great when I traded it in for this one. This CVT is a problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated while pulling into the drive way, the vehicle stalled and the the steering wheel lost power steering. Several messages indicating a transmission, parking brake, hill assist, fuel gauge, steering, braking , traction control, charging system failures were displayed. The vehicle hit the garage door. The contact attempted to reverse but the gear shifter remained stuck into park (P) position. The contact manually disengaged the transmission linkage located in the AC system. The contact then pushed the vehicle backwards. An independent mechanic came to the contact's residence and diagnosed that the transmission control module (TCM) had failed and had affected the computer system, which led to the failure. The independent mechanic associated the failure with Honda Technical Service Bulletin Number: 17-012. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his own expense as the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The Passenger side Air Bag Inflator failure

My husband hit a deer on the highway. The seatbelts locked up but the air bags did not physically engage. We took it into the repair shop today and they said that the airbag system DID in fact tell them to engage, but the air bags did not physically come out. The side by each seat belt opened up but the airbags did not come out, nor did the front air bags come out. If this would have been a worse accident, the occupants of the car would have been injured due to no airbags going off. An independent service center has confirmed that this is what happened. Insurance still has to go out an inspect the vehicle but it is planned to be done. There were no warning messages prior to the failure.

GUNN HONDA (14610 I-10, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78249) WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER, HOWEVER, DISCONNECTED THE SENSOR CABLE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND RECONNECTED IT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. AC compressor is not working causing the defroster not to work and front wind shield will not defrost during wet /humid weather. Honda's extended warranty bulletin only applies to the condenser not the compressor

This is a general concern, not a particular incident. My 2017 Civic SI (as well as my friend's nearly identical 2019 Civic SI and others I'm aware of) has backup camera issues at night. Daytime is fine, but at night the image is so "speckled" and unclear that it is often nearly useless. 2015 Civics did not have this problem (I had one and my wife currently still does).

FRONT WINDSHIELD CAME DEFECTIVE FROM FACTORY WITH AIR BUBBLES BETWEEN THE GLASS AND THE RUBBER AFFECTING THE INTEGRITY OF IT, THAT ALSO MAKES THE GLASS WEAK AND IT CRACKS TOO EASY. MY PROBLEM WITH THE GLASS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED INSIDE MY GARAGE WITH JUST LETTING THE WIPER FALL ON IT WHILE I WAS WASHING IT. IT REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AND SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

The Body Control Module (BCM) is faulty and causes the alarm to go off on its own, lights inside the cluster glitch turning on by itself and drains the battery even with the key fob nowhere near its vicinity when off. Sometimes does not recognize the key fob.

I drove home from work today like normal. Pushed the engine start/stop button before getting out of the car. The radio was still on, and the dash was still on, with Accessory Mode, push "start/stop" twice to turn off, or something similar to that. I pushed the button twice. It went to accessory mode. I started the engine, drove the car out of the drive way, came back, pushed the button to turn off the car... accessory mode. turned the car on, turned the car off.... accessory mode. Moved the keys all away from the car. Started the car (which i could do because it WAS STILL IN ACCESSORY MODE) and drove the car, meanwhile there was a big warning saying there was no key fob in the proximity. Parked the car, pushed the on/off button.... accessory mode. I have tried everything I can think of, the car wont lock. It wont exit accessory mode unless its in full on start. Someone could come along and steal my car because I cant turn it off. all i can do is disconnect the battery and after 2-3 days i connect it and it works just temporarily. This is not ok and unsafe especially when i have a new born and stranded in the middle of the wors place due to this issue.

My apologies, I just filled out a form (Your Complaint Number: 11563943) and forgot to add problems with AC with my 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan. My AC went out, went to local dealership, they recharged this around August 2023 I believe. Good now, but my point is I'd ask how long this will last. They said they don't know. I'm like a day, week, month(s)? Again they couldn't say. I live in a very warm area during the Summer, need AC and I need a cool AC environment when driving. I think I deserve to be comfortable. At the dealership, I had mentioned about a Honda recall letter I received about AC. It was either the Compressor or Condenser that is recalled, I forget. Well, they stated after looking at my car, that it was the item that isn't covered. Bill would be close to $1,000.00, I believe. Come on. I find this shady, confusing and concerning with Honda. Thank you again for your help!!! Yes my Life is at risk with this as well. Again, my Life matters also! This is my 4th Honda and I never had so many things go sideways with the last three Hondas as I'm experiencing now with this 2017 Civic EX. This is just ridiculous. Just about fed up with Honda.

My 2017 Honda Civic Touring, has had two major issues in the past two months. So far, I have put about $3,000 in these issues. Issue 1:Two months ago, they found a leak in the front seal of the compressor, and it had to be replaced. There is no extended warranty on the compressor (only the condenser), though it seems to be a big issue for the Civic. This expense was approximately $2000. Issue 2:Long story short, a few weeks ago, my car alarm started going off about every four hours and had killed my battery by the next morning. During this time, my key fabs no longer worked and we had to jump the car to take it to the shop. The Body Control Module had gone out with no pervious warnings. Honda told my mechanic they’re on backorder and it will be nine months to a year before they could get a replacement. They located a used one and installed it. Though they were told it was a match, it was missing certain elements that my car had – back seat windows, auto lock when you exit your car, and front led blinkers. My front blinkers no longer work, and the previous Honda was probably bulbs. Needless to say, this can only be a temporary fix because it’s dangerous and won’t pass inspection. So far this expense has cost approximately $900. I’ve emailed Honda, and my issue has been ignored. They haven’t offered to help for either case. These things should not be happening to civics with this low mileage and age. So I now have a new BCM on backorder with a Honda dealer, and some time down the road, I will be paying for this expense again.

The board control module failed and replacements are not available. Available for inspection upon request. Due to the component failing, the vehicle goes to accessory mode randomly or even to its on without engine mode. The wireless key will not grant access during these times or remote start. Without constantly charging the battery, the vehicle will completely discharge its battery. This issue has been verified with the dealership and component inspected. No warning lamps gave away the process of the failure. warning lights only appear now after jumping the vehicle from a depleted battery due to the failure.

SAFETY CONCERN > while driving on a local roadway, the right front tire went flat but the OEM TPMS ( this Civic model uses a indirect system ) never alerted ( due to traffic & road conditions was unable to pull off road ) & had to drive to nearest tire dealer, where a associate confirmed no TPMS warnings were displayed. after repair work completed, contacted a local Honda dealer service dept. , where a advisor stated there is no repair possible on Honda's indirect TPMS. he suggested installing a aftermarket direct TPMS ( tire pressure sensors are installed in each tire & a display unit fitted somewhere on dash ) at owner's cost. this is a safety concern.

FRONT DRIVER WHEEL BEARING. MY CIVICS FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED AT ONLY 15,000 MILES. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE FACTORY WHEEL BEARING HAD NO GREESE OR LUBERCATION INSIDE OF IT CAUSING IT TO WEAR DOWN PREMATURELY. I HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES FOR HONDA TO ACTUALLY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD MULTIPLE TIMES IT WAS 'ROAD NOISE'. THE WHEEL BEARING WOULD MAKE A LOUD 'BUFFERING' SOUND BETWEEN 30-70MPH. THE NOISE WOULD ALSO GET WORSE WHEN GOING AROUND CORNERS.

These cars have horrendous AC issues. A spotlight needs to be on put on it. Broken AC can subject drivers to dangerously high temperatures in the cabin, even if the windows are rolled down in some climates. Honda, the maker of these vehicles, is still answerable for the supplier of the compressor/ac system, Keihin's, failures. There are many of us, but we haven't been able to connect the dots to see how many have truly been affected. I nearly suffered heatstroke driving this car. Was dizzy the night of at home, with outdoor temperatures reaching triple digits (Fahrenheit).

SOMETIMES, WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WILL NOT CRANK AND START. THE ELECTRIC POWER WILL COME ON (DASH BOARD ICONS, HEADLIGHTS, ETC.), BUT IT WILL NOT CRANK. IT TAKES FROM 2 TO 7 TURNS OF THE KEY, BEFORE IT CRANKS AND STARTS. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS SOMETIMES ONCE A WEEK, SOMETIMES 2 OR 3 TIMES. I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIR. HOWEVER, ON THE DAY I TOOK IT IN, OF COURSE, IT WAS WORKING FINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEIR COMPUTER COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS IT, UNLESS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE IT WAS HOOKED TO THE COMPUTER. HE TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK WHEN THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE, OR THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL. I HAVE NOT RETURNED TO THE DEALER YET. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN IN EARLY JULY OF THIS YEAR. LUCKILY WE PULLED OVER JUST IN TIME TO WATCH THE CAR GO UP IN FLAMES AND EXPLODE. I HAVE CONTACTED 3 DEALERSHIPS, INCLUDING THEIR SERVICE TEAM, HONDA FINANCIAL, HONDA GENERAL, AND THE HONDA PLANT IN INDIANA. Fuel getting into oil

10.55% fuel was found in the oil according to a sample that was taken. Took to dealer and called honda. Dealer was told to perform Bulletin 18-137 I think. Dealer said was done and changed the oil also. Took a sample at 30% oil life after the fix and now there is 13.72% fuel in the oil. Took back to dealer they called Honda Engineers and was told it was normal and that was on the Low side 13.72%. Was not able to do anything. This is a coverup. You can smell fuel in the oil and oil is high on the dipstick when you check it and you can smell when driving.

I bought my 2017 Civic 2.0L brand new. A few years later my A/C stops working in the middle of summer. Due to the cost of what it was going to cost me to have this fixed I had to delay getting my car fixed and having to drive a car with no A/C with my infant and toddler in the back. Eventually I was able to get this fixed and had to pay over $700. For this being a brand new vehicle when purchased I don't think that an issue like this should have occurred if the vehicle was manufactured properly. Unfortunately, no light came on in the vehicle to tell me that something was wrong or needed fixed.

Ac blowing hot out of driver side only. Repaired under extended warranty in 2020 due to faulty ac condenser that Honda now admits was a problem. Now that the car is out of extended warranty (by 4 months) the ac evaporator goes out and they want me to pay $2,000 to fix cause it wasn’t listed on the service bulletin. So ridiculous the entire system is faulty and There is no telling when it will go out again. Honda needs recall or extend the service bulletin to cover the entire system.. absolutely ridiculous!!!

The NH-788P White Orchid Pearl Paint that was given an extended warranty due to a "paint peeling problem" on the Fit and HR-V models is now affecting Civics. I currently own a 2017 Civic Hatchback with the same paint, from the same country of manufacturing origin, within the same time frame, and was never given an extension warranty and currently am being denied help. The worst paint peeling, under the trunk, is actually protected from weather ... this is easily a defect that originated from Honda. Honda is denying any responsibility at the moment, refuses to help me via phone calls or email defaulting to the response of "Your car isn't under warranty." even though they have acknowledged issues and provided coverage for different models AND Canada covers my situation unlike the USA: [XXX] Had I know about this defect with my car with an official statement from Honda, it would have impacted my choices back in 2020 and 2021. I would of sold it around 2021 or contacted Honda earlier to settle these issues that would of happened under the extended warranty if I was given one. Honda's constant inaction once again damages consumers everywhere where the repair for paint is roughly 60% of the value of the car itself ... The paint on my Honda Civic 2017 began peeling off the back window of my vehicle starting in 2022. I've since then paid to have it repaired, but now peeling is starting to occur on other places of the vehicle, such as the front hood, the fender, and the bumper. Honda has already admitted that a manufacturing issue involving the paint on the back window has been reported. This peeling problem is becoming too expensive to handle and Honda will not extend the paint warranty beyond the 3-year time frame. This is a serious issue as having too much of the car body exposed with lead to rusting.

This vehicle was purchased in May 2017 and in April of 2021 the paint started peeling off the exterior around the rear window. This does not put my safety at risk but I do see that Honda has had this problem with many of their vehicles in recent years. This problem was reported to American Service Honda on June 4 2021, but because I am days past the expiration date of warranty Honda refuses to diagnose the issue without cost to me. I did not immediately report it when first noticed because I had not realized how recent this car was purchased. But like stated prior, Honda has confirmed the same issue for other of their models in recent years. I have owned other vehicles like toyotas and other brands to which do not have the same issue so it is not due to sun damage nor wear. Another issue is that the window trims on all passenger and driver windows are breaking shrinking and falling apart. Again this is also known problem with honda cars in consumer reports.org all throughout the U.S . This may be of safety concern if they fall off while driving I wouldn't want it to land on another cars front window or perhaps the windows can be damaged or cracked. One last thing that is also a common issue for hondas, that is an issue for mine is that the front bumper is very low it gets stuck on parking bumpers this causes the sides to start breaking and if it were to fall off it would be a major safety concern.

I have oil dilution in my 2015 Honda Civic EX-T VIN [XXX]. Dealer performed the fixes. The Next time I had the oil sample checked it was worse. The oil smells like a weedeater. I am at 13.72% fuel in the oil. Very Rich. I live in Alabama where it is hot. I only drive long distances to and from work on the interstate. I need help. Honda is doing nothing. They are not telling the dealer anything or sharing any specs as acceptable percentage fuel in the oil. It is a coverup. TSBs have been done and engine checked and injectors are good. Please advise. AT COLD START, THE IDLING ENGINE SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL, DASHBOARD, AND MUCH OF THE CABIN. IT FEELS LIKE A POORLY SEATED MOTOR MOUNT. Keep receiving LKAS, Adaptive Cruise Control and collision mitigation errors on my car. Started once every few months and would reset after the car would be turned off and on. Now, the warning stays on. Both sensor areas are clean and unobstructed.

Basically the whole driver assisted system no longer works I took it to be fixed by shop they cleared codes but problem still exists.

The abs speed sensor on honda vehicles are placed in such a way that is breaks often. And when it breaks, it leads to multiple sensors going off which may cause the abs to lock up while braking normally, car accelerating unexpectedly.For me the speed sensor on the right wheel was broken. This lead the car to accelerate unexpectedly and then the sensors would go off. Car accelerating and braking in a weird way would definitely lead to some issues. And when you go to the dealership for this issue, first they won't be able to diagnose it. They will simple reset the codes and say uts an intermittent failure and charge you 100 dollars for nothing. Then you have to go again the other day with the same issue and then they tell you its speed sensor. I think that's a bad service and since honda knows of this beong common issue with how they have placed the sensor it should be recalled.

I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT, APPROACHING A GATE WITH AN INDUCTIVE-LOOP TRAFFIC DETECTOR, WHICH CAN DETECT VEHICLES PASSING OR ARRIVING AT A CERTAIN POINT, ONCE A VEHICLE IS DETECTED THE GATE WOULD OPEN. I WAS APPROACHING, MAYBE 50 FEET FROM THE GATE, AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE OF MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC REVVED UP AND ACCELERATED FORWARD TOWARDS THE GATE. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, AS I WAS APPROACHING THE GATE WHICH WAS STILL CLOSED. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE FLOOR BOARD OR ANYTHING OBSTRUCTING THE PEDALS THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO ABRUPTLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID STRIKING THE GATE. MY HONDA IS EQUIPPED WITH HONDA SENSING AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE OCCURRED, MAY BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE SENSOR BECAUSE THE "BRAKE" WARNING WAS ON, IT OBSERVED THE GATE.

BLACK SCREEN OF EARTH). I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 30-35 MPH . DROVE ANOTHER'S ANOTHER MILE (APPROX) WITH NO DIGITAL SPEED DISPLAY AT ALL- COMPLETELY BLACK INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MAIN DISPLAY WHICH NORMALLY SHOWS DIGITAL MILES PER HOUR, TEMP GAUGE, ETC) AND TURNED ON RIGHT HAND SIGNAL TO MAKE RIGHT TURN AND ABOUT FIVE SECONDS LATER RIGHT SIDE CAMERA TURNED ON MEDIA DISPLAY TO RIGHT AND EVENTUALLY DIGITAL DASHBOARD SPEEDOMETER BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED BACK ON. EVERYTHING ON THE CAR IS COMPUTER CONTROLLED. THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS. NOT SURE HOW F CAR HAS A BAD CPU OR ECU. CALLED DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AS I HAS JUST DRIVEN AWAY 15 MINUTES BEFORE AND THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL. I AM VERY CONCERNED.

The seatbelt in our Civic became entangled around our child and locked. The more we tried to get her out, the tighter it became. It was so tight around her waist that it left marks. She unbuckled the seatbelt and let a little more back into the retractor, hoping it would unlock but it only got tighter. We were on vacation and had to find a hardware store to buy a socket set to disconnect the seatbelt from the frame of the car, so at this point has to drive on I-70 with a kid tangled in an unbuckled seatbelt. Once we purchased a socket set, there was plastic obstructing access to the bolt, so we had to then purchase a knife to cut away the plastic to access the bolt. All the while, our kid was tangled up tightly in the seatbelt, squeezing her abdomen. There needs to be an emergency seatbelt lock release button. Had this became tangled around her neck, she could have been seriously hurt or killed.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

MY SON AND I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2017 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN ON DEC 3RD FROM HONDA OF LISLE IL. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH 22,100 MILES. MY SON WAS DRIVING ON DEC 10TH AND STOPPED FOR GAS FOR THE FIRST TIME. HE GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP. HE NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE IMMEDIATELY CAM HOME AND CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER. AS HE WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER HE GOT ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BLACK SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CAR FROZE UP AND IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES. THANKFULLY IT HAPPENED ON A SIDE STREET AS HE WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A LAW THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE IT BACK WITHIN 15 DAYS OR LESS THAN 500 MILES, THEY ESSENTIALLY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND I NEEDED TO GET MY INSURANCE INVOLVED. A FIRE INSPECTOR HIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOOKED AT THE TOTALED VEHICLE AND SUSPECTED THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE BATTERY. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A FIRE ENGINEER INSPECT IT AT A COST OF $5,000 THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT PURSUE FURTHER. Pre-incident.... Improper weather stripping around both front and back windshield hold water on seams around installed windows. This results in air bubbles separating the glass from the glue seam and rubber seats. If too many occur for a long enough period, windshield can crack, shatter or break completely free during normal driving. This is happening on a less than 5 year old car. Honda Dealership has inspected and taken pictures of bubble areas that are occurring between the entire seal. Bubbles started occurring 3 years ago and got significantly worse over time. No warning lamps.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and the dangerous issue related to its air conditioning (A/C) system — a problem affecting many Civic owners nationwide. I initially brought my vehicle to Honda City Chicago for a Honda “campaign” repair (a term they use instead of calling it a recall) in 2023 and again this year, related to the A/C system. I was told the issue would be resolved. However, after agreeing to an optional transmission oil change they recommended, I was later told the A/C still wasn’t fixed — and that I now needed to pay $400 for a diagnostic. That diagnostic revealed the actual problem: a locked A/C compressor. (Which they knew they just wanted the money) This defect is not just an inconvenience — it’s a serious safety hazard. When the A/C is turned on, the locked compressor causes the engine to shake violently and stall completely. This happened to me at a red light; the car shut off, became unresponsive, and I was stuck blocking traffic. If this had occurred while driving at higher speeds, the consequences could have been catastrophic. Many Civic owners have reported similar compressor failures leading to engine stalls and unsafe driving conditions. Honda is aware of this issue but continues to treat it as isolated rather than a systemic defect. I urge the NHTSA to open a formal investigation into this widespread and dangerous issue involving locked A/C compressors in 2016–2020 Honda Civics. A safety recall is warranted before more drivers are put at risk or harmed due to this known defect.

I bought a pair of Bridgestone Weatherpeak tires 006055 Weatherpeak BL215/55R16 93H 70,000 Mile Limited warranty tires from Firestone Complete Autocare in Medina OH Store # 755785 located at 5131 Buehlers Drive Medina OH 44256. The shop manager Alvin told me that these tires were not recalled for safety but that they have abnormal wear. This truly needs looked into because I had to buy an entire new set of tires early due to these tires wearing out early. I came in under the 70,000 mile warranty.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 9/17/2017. LESS THAN THREE WEEKS LATER, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT BACK WAS DEFORMED, CAUSING BACK PAIN AND DISCOMFORT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY MANIPULATED THE CUSHIONS TO GET THE SEAT BACK TO A MORE COMFORTABLE SHAPE, HOWEVER IT DIDN'T LOOK THE SAME AS WHEN IT WAS BRAND NEW. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER THAT THE CUSHIONS BECAME DISPLACED AGAIN. THERE ARE TWO CUSHIONS FORMING THE SIDE BOLSTER, AND THE SIDE AIRBAG IS DESIGNED TO DEPLOY BETWEEN THE CUSHIONS. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET THE CUSHIONS BACK INTO PLACE AND DON'T LIVE CLOSE TO MY DEALERSHIP SO IT IS INCONVENIENT TO TAKE IT BACK IN. NOW I HAVE BACK PAIN IN THE AREA WHERE THE SEAT IS DEFORMED AND PUSHING INTO MY BACK. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER NEXT WEEK HOWEVER I AM AFRAID EVEN IF THEY REPLACE THE SEAT THIS PROBLEM WILL KEEP OCCURRING. 1. Driving on the freeway with multiple lanes. I driver cuts across multiple lanes and even though they only stayed 1 second in front of me and jumped into another lane, Honda thinks it's time to apply the brake after they have merged over to next lane. Applying the brakes when nobody is in front of me! 35mph 2. I can be 25 feet behind a car. That car happens to be making a turn at an intersection. It clears my path, but it's stuck just at the corner of the other street because traffic isn't flowing for them. I have 100% clear of path. And guess what, Honda decides to slam on the brakes because it saw the vehicle is about a foot away from my lane stopped. Honda can't tell the difference if I'm going straight or following the car that turned so it thinks it's better to slam on the brakes when in question. Very dangerous! 40mph 3. When on a multi lane freeway. I have no car in front of me but there is a vehicle in another lane. As I try to pass the vehicle, my Civic applies the brakes when the road isn't straight but very slightly curved. In my opinion it's not calculating at all that we are in a curve. It seems like Honda is not using vision from camera to tell the lanes and lane markers and also the steering wheel. But it only detects that somehow we will collide. 65mph A dangerous system and shouldn't be allowed until the bug is fixed with software update. So far Honda hasn't acknowledged anything. I have to gather all my footage and share it with you, maybe through youtube? There are no warnings, no problems with the car. This is clearly a software issue. Honda dealer told me there is no software update for this when I question Honda Serramonte Colma CA when I brought my vehicle in for failed AC. Service writer said "these things can happen, just try to drive more cautiously"

It has done that to me on the freeway. With the lane keep assist it’ll say I’m drifting out of my lane but I’m not in the car will start to pull itself back into a lame but I’ve never left lane and then but almost take you off the road if you don’t intervene

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WILL FAIL TO TURN ON. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TURN ON, ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL HAVE .5-1 SECOND DELAY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM STOP/IDLE CAUSING NEAR COLLISIONS. SINCE PURCHASE, THERE HAVE BEEN 10-15 EPISODES WHERE I ATTEMPT TO TURN ON ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE ON THE FREEWAY BUT THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ENGAGE. I ONLY GET 3 BEEPS AND AN "ACC OFF" INDICATION ON THE DASH. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, FOR THE REST OF THAT DRIVE, THERE IS A PEDAL DEAD ZONE/SEVERE ACCELERATION DELAY WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THIS DELAY IN ACCELERATION HAS CAUSED SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN PULLING OUT WITH OBSTRUCTED VIEWS AS I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL BUT GET NO RESPONSE FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE 1 SECOND WHILE ANOTHER CAR COMES INTO VIEW AND IS FAST APPROACHING. ONCE THE INITIAL ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE OCCURS, ACC AND TRADITIONAL CRUISE CONTROL WILL BOTH FAIL TO START ACROSS MULTIPLE DRIVES AND ENGINE STARTS. THE SEVERE PEDAL DELAY WILL RETURN ACROSS ENGINE STARTS AS SOON AS THE ACC BUTTON IS PRESSED. THE ONLY WAY TO RECOVER THE FUNCTIONALITY OF ACC AND NORMAL CRUISE CONTROL ONCE IN THIS STATE IS TO REMOVE POWER FROM THE BATTERY AND WAIT A MINUTE, THEN POWER ON THE ENGINE AND LET SYSTEMS RESTART. APPEARS TO BE SOME KIND OF SOFTWARE BUG IN ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM THAT CAUSES SYSTEM TO CRASH AND NOT WORK AGAIN UNTIL ENGINE COMPUTER RESET. I'D GLADLY WORK DIRECTLY WITH HONDA FOR TROUBLESHOOTING, I'M 3-4 PEOPLE REMOVED WHEN WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND I FEEL LIKE ALL MY INFO IS NOT BEING COMMUNICATED CORRECTLY.

WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHILE ENTERING A TUNNEL WITH NO CARS IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF IT, THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM(PART OF HONDA SENSING SUITE OF SAFETY FEATURES) ACTIVATED AND SIGNIFICANTLY BRAKED THE CAR, NEARLY TO A STOP, WITH CARS AT HIGHWAY SPEED BEHIND ME. THERE WERE PAVEMENT MARKINGS THAT APPEARED TO BE GROUND OFF AS A RESULT OF RECENT CONSTRUCTION THAT PERHAPS THE CAR'S SENSING SYSTEM MISTOOK FOR AN OBJECT THAT IT THOUGHT IT COULD HIT, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THE CAR'S PATH. NO CARS WERE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THAT THIS SYSTEM HAS OPERATED ODDLY, BUT IT IS THE FIRST TIME THAT IT APPLIED THE BRAKES. IT HAS MISTOOK SHADOWS AND SUN GLARE AS BEING OBJECTS AND WARNED ME TO BRAKE (ALBEIT MOMENTARILY) BUT THE CAR DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY APPLY BRAKING IN THOSE SITUATIONS.

IN AUGUST 2019 , HONDA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE A/C CONDENSER AS THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS MANUFACTURED TO STANDARDS AND WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE A/C CONDENSER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN ISSUED. HOWEVER, THE A/C COMPRESS IS NOT UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR IS OUT OF THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY (3 YEARS/36,000 MILES) PERIOD BY 4,000 MILES - NOT YEARS. I PURCHASED A 2017 HONDA CIVIC IN NOVEMBER 2017. IN AUGUST 2018 THE AC WENT OUT. (I KNOW IN AUGUST RIGHT!). THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT HONDA REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR THE O-RING. THE SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER MY CAR WARRANTY. NINE MONTHS LATER (MAY 2019) THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE A/C WENT OUT. THIS TIME THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE CONDENSER. On a few occasions I came out to a dead battery or have been woken up more than once to my alarm blaring in the middle of the nite and when I came out to check my vehicle it was usually turned on to accessory mode upon researching the internet I found that many owners with the 2016 and 2017 have the same problem which is a result of a faulty Body Control Module within the keyless entry system. The Power Steering Rack Assembly had to be replaced on my vehicle because the sensors that notify the safety systems of the direction the steering wheel is pointing failed while I was driving my son to school. The result of this failure caused a multiple system failure resulting in an inability to steer the car at speed. The Lane Keep Assist system was actively fighting against my driver input as I was driving, effectively locking the steering wheel in a stationary position. This failure not only put my and my son's life in danger but other drivers on the road as well. This could have very easily caused a severe collision considering the ability to steer a motor vehicle is arguably the most integral part of operating one. The car has decently low mileage for being 7 years old and is well-maintained. This issue occurred suddenly without any prior warning lamps, messages, etc.

The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), the TPMS and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed. The warning lights were no longer illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to continue driving by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that he arrived at the residence, parked, and turned off the vehicle; however, upon restarting the vehicle approximately 6 hours later, the failure persisted. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), and the TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. check engine lights display periodically. The main one involves the fuel injectors. It has been an on going problem for 6-8 months. When I contacted the dealership I was told the part is not available Nationwide at this time and not sure when it will become available. While driving the car can go into "limp" mode where it doesn't let you go above 30 MPH. This problem first started approximately October 2022 after having the vehicle just over 7 months. When I contact the Dealership I was told there was nothing they could do but wait for the part to come in. Meanwhile I am paying for a vehicle that is not safe to drive , yet has no recalls on it. I was told by the Dealership that they have several vehicles at the auto auction that have the same issue that are not selling. I don't understand why Honda has not had a recall on this part. I am stuck with a vehicle ,my only means of transportation, still making payments, and it sits in the garage. Please let me know if there's anything else you need from me.

I am having a problem with my 2017 Honda civic SI, it has been to a Honda service center twice now and continues to have the same problem after having the transmission speed sensor replaced twice now, there was a recall that did not affect my specific VIN but I am having the same problems listed in the recall, the service bulletin number is 18-102, I also have videos showing how the EPS (Electronic Power Steering) light appears on the cluster along with the speed displaying as 0 even though the vehicle is in motion. When the problem occurs initially the steering goes “limp” and is extremely easy to turn as if the steering assist is working too hard then after a few seconds the vehicle proceeds to jerk extremely hard to the left followed up by the speedometer displaying 0 mph, this is extremely frustrating as the car only has around 84k miles and I have only been in ownership of the vehicle for 3-4 weeks as of now (almost 3,000 miles have been put on the car.

On February 5th I was taking my car out to the grocery store. All of a sudden my lights turned on and as soon as I'm going up the hill, going back home the car starts to shake uncrontrollably. I check my car under the hood toes what is going on, all of my wiring had been damaged, even the battery was damaged. I later bought the new wiring and and battery and had it replaced. After a few days at the mechanic I was able to get my car back but the mechanic said that due to the fact of the material that Honda is making their wiring which is the soy bean material, animal love to eat from that it has been something that he has seen for quite some time. Anyway I thought it might've been from the location of where I parked the night before when I had to go outside of town because I always park right in front of my house and its the first time. February 17th, I was pulling out of my parking spot and noticed that my car wasn't breaking as it should be so therefore I stopped the car and opened my door and immediately when I look under the hood I knew animals had gotten into from the pile of leaves and sticks on top of of everything and afterwards the car just turned off all by itself. I am now experiencing the exact same thing which puts my life at risk because the car just stops working mid ride and I could be on a whole highway and cause a collision. If they know that this is something that animals look for to eat I think that it is not safe to use for a car cause I could have been in danger for both these events if I were to be on the highway and my car just decided to stop functioning I could've been in a different circumstances,

Key-less start system problem.... Car has 55000 miles and has been serviced at local Honda dealer on time every time. Car will start up in accessory mode after being turned off and goes into alarm. To turn off alarm I have to use door key. Keyless Remote does not work during the alarm stage and will work after restarting car. I have to unhook battery to keep car from alarming. I have already had remote replaced and reprogrammed. I have to go through a new system reset every time I use the car. Honda could not find a code error. I am concerned this is a major and dangerous problem with the electrical system, possibly control module or push start button. I have read numerous complaints of this issue online from many different Honda models including mine.

MY CAR ALARM RANDOMLY STARTED GOING OFF WHILE PARKED FOR THREE DAYS, THREE DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED BACK TO BACK AT 2AM WHILE PARKED. I TRIED TURNING IT OFF WITH MY KEY FOB AND IT WOULD NOT REGISTER. I OPENED THE CAR WITH THE KEY IN THE FOB AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON, THE ENGINE STARTED AND I REMAINED PARKED. THEN I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF, INSTEAD THE LIGHTS FLICKERED ON THE DASH AND THE CAR STAYED ON. I TRIED IT 2 MORE TIMES AND IT FINALLY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE DASH. ALL THE WARNING SIGNS CAME ON THE CAR INCLUDING A BREAK SYSTEMS ERROR AND A TIRE PRESSURE ERROR. AFTER THIS, I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT OF MY FOB AND NOW THE CAR BATTERY IS DEAD. I POWERED UP THE BATTERY TODAY BUT THE CAR WON'T START. THE DASH TURNS ON BUT THEN IT JUST FLICKERS AND GIVES ME ALL THE SAME WARNING SIGNS. I FOUND THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE ON 2016 CIVICS AND THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO 2017 AND 2018 CIVIC AS WELL. LANE MONITORING SYSTEM PROVIDES INCONSISTENT WARNINGS. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHILE I DRIVE THROUGH THE CITY AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAYS. IT SOMETIMES WITHOUT WARNING ADJUSTS THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. BRAKE MONITORING SYSTEM, WHEN IT DOES PROVIDE WARNING, PROVIDES WARNINGS SO LATE THAT A COLLISION WOULD BE UNAVOIDABLE. TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DOES NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE INFORMATION TO ALLOW FOR AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE OF THE DRIVER. NO FEEDBACK FROM THE CALIBRATION MODE OF THE TPMS. ONCE THE SYSTEM PROVIDES ITS FIRST ALARM, DOESN'T RESPOND WELL TO CALIBRATION. MY SYSTEM NOW ALARMS ABOUT EVERY 60-100 MILES. THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL IS SCARY. WHILE IT IS EXPECTED THAT IN ESPECIALLY HILLY TERRAIN THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD VARY A BIT (A COUPLE OF MPH EITHER DIRECTION), THE SYSTEM SOMETIMES DOES NOT ENGAGE, SOMETIMES TURNS ITSELF OFF WITHOUT WARNING, PROVIDES INCONSISTENT WARNING OF WHEN THE VEHICLE INTERVAL IS NOT MAINTAINED, BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT IT DOES NOT MAINTAIN THE SET POINT. FOR EXAMPLE YESTERDAY, ACC SET AT 42 MPH. SPEED LIMIT WAS 40 MPH. I WAS DESCENDING A HILL AND MANUALLY DISENGAGED THE ACC WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED EXCEEDED 57 MPH. SAME TRIP -- ACC SET AT 67 MPH, SPEED LIMIT AT 65 MPH; ACC DISENGAGED MANUALLY WHEN VEHICLE SPEED APPROACHED 76 MPH. THIRD INSTANCE, ACC SET AT 56 MPH, SPEED LIMIT WAS 55 MPH, ACC MANUALLY DISENGAGED AT 63 MPH. WHEN ACC FIRST ENGAGED, SPEED IS AT THE SET POINT. THEN THE SYSTEM CAN'T MAINTAIN THE SPEED AND CONSISTENTLY RUNS 1-2 MPH BELOW THE SET POINT. HENCE, ME SETTING THE ACC 1-2 MPH ABOVE THE SPEED LIMIT. BELIEVE THAT THESE ARE ALL PART OF THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM WHICH WAS PART OF THE TOURING PACKAGE, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE. THE 2017 CR-V MODELS WITH THE SAME SYSTEM HAVE A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I WENT TO GO START MY VEHICLE AFTER LEAVING WORK AT 4 AM, 5/9/2019. UPON TRYING TO START MY VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STIFF. I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. MY CAR'S LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, WITH A WEIRD CLICKING NOISE BEING MADE. ON THE DASHBOARD, THE SYSTEM STARTED STATING "ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM". "MANUAL BRAKE PROBLEM", "STABILITY PROBLEM", AND A COUPLE OTHER ERRORS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AND UPON DOING RESEARCH, THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH 2016-2018 HONDA CIVICS. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ON, AND I HAVE NEVER USED THAT FEATURE. AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT, MY VEHICLE IS SITTING IN MY WORK'S FULL PARKING LOT, AND I AM STRANDED.

UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. ETC. ETC. HONDA REFUSES TO DEAL WITH THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE & SERVICING HONDA DEALERS DO NOT WANT THIS PIECE OF CRAP HONDA IN THEIR SHOPS. HONDA CLAIMS THEY HAVE LEGAL RIGHT TO CANCEL ALL NEW VEHICLE WARRANTIES ON THIS VEHICLE & OWNER CANNOT DO ANYTHING LEGALLY ABOUT THIS. NO US FEDERAL AGENCY HAS ANY CONTROL WHAT HONDA DOES IN THE US. I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-30 MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY. I PUT IT IN SPORT MODE AND TRY TO GET UP TO SPEED BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN CAR GOES TO LIMP MODE. THEN WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF FROM THE ROAD TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. CLEARED ALL ISSUES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY AND NO CEL WAS STORED.

IJULY 2017 IS WHEN I FIRST NOTICED MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY RE-SETTING WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AT LEGAL SPEED OF 70 MILES AN HOUR! ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR'S DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED WITH EVERY COLORED WARNING LIGHT & A SPINNING-DOTED CIRCLE LIGHT AS IF CAR COMPUTER WAS SEARCHING FOR A SIGNAL OR BEING REMOTELY RESET! THE RADIO TURNED OFF, THE SCREEN WENT BLACK, THE COMPUTER DASHBOARD FLASHED UNTIL FINALLY THE 'H' HONDA LOGO APPEARED ON THE RADIO SCREEN RESETTING ITSELF. SCARING ME TO BELIEVE THE CAR WAS SHUTTING DOWN OR ABOUT TO MALFUNCTION WHILE I WAS DRIVING! THREE MONTHS LATER THE RADIO, SATELLITE, SIDE MIRROR CAMERA, REAR BACKUP CAMERA EVERY THING ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMPUTER BRAIN OF THIS CAR COMPLETELY WENT OUT! NOTHING CAN BE RESET THROUGH THE RADIO AS IT'S JUST STUCK. HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS NO EXPLANATION OTHER REPLACEMENT FOR SAFETY! DEALERSHIP REACHED OUT TO HONDA FOR ASSISTANCE AS I'VE EXCEEDED 36,000 MILE COMPLEMENTARY WARRANTY. HONDA ACTUALLY TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MALFUNCTION AT FIRST, STATING THEY WOULD PAY/COVER MAJORITY OF COST LEAVING BALACE OF $300. I FOUND THIS TO BE CRAZY, AS THIS ELECTICAL MALFUNCTION WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN & SHOULD INITIATE RECALL! AS I NOW HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF ALL SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS ARE ERROR OR ACTUAL SAFETY WARNINGS! I HAVE NO REAR CAMERA OR SIDE MIRROR CAMERA DUE TO THIS RADIO/COMPUTER MALFUNCTION! THIS IS A DANGER DRIVING THIS CAR SO I CONTACTED HONDA AND EXPLAINED I WAS WILLING TO PAY THE $300 FOR REPLACEMENT. POTENTIAL TAKETA RECALL. JULY 14, 2018. I HAD MADE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A LOCAL CONVENIENCE STORE. TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 7 P.M.AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPOT, THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE BUMPED THE CURB.THE DRIVERS SIDE CENTER AIRBAG, LOCATED IN THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT DEPLOY. IT EXPLODED! I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD RAMMED INTO MY CAR. WHEN THE AIRBAG BLEW, IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HAD FIRED A COUPLE OF 12 GUAGE SHOTGUNS IN THE VEHICLE.SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT FROM THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN. IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL WAS ON FIRE. THE IMPACT FROM THE EXPLODING AIRBAG WAS NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE TO SAY THE LEAST. BY THE TIME I UNBUCKLED MY SEAT BELT TO EXIT THE CAR, THE SMOKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE WAS SO THICK I COULD NOT SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. MY CHEST AND HAND ARE SORE, BUT NOTHING APPEARS TO BE BROKEN. I LEFT THE VEHICLE WHERE IT WAS PARKED AND HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIOP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, SO THAT A COMPLETE EVALUATION CAN BE DONE TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE THAT RESULTED FROM THE EXPLODING AIRBAG. WHEN I CHECKED THE VIN ON THIS WEBSITE, IT DID NOT COME UP AS BEING ON THE AIRBAG RECALL. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE ASAP. THANK GOODNESS I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE. I SHUDDER TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THERE WERE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THAT AIRBAG BLEW!

THIS DISABLES ALL AUDIO, BLUETOOTH, CLIMATE CONTROLS, BACK-UP CAMERA, & LANEWATCH. "CHECK TUNER" SHOWS BRIEFLY OFTEN. OCCURS EVEN WHEN DRIVING. DEALER UNABLE TO DUPLICATE, BECAUSE OF THIS HONDA REFUSES REPAIR. TPMS ALERT DISPLAYS FREQUENTLY, AFTER A TIRE EVEN A WHEEL REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. I HAVE AN 8 MONTH OLD 2017 HONDA CIVIC EX-T AND MY COMPLAINT IS WITH THE QUALITY OF THE GLASS USED FOR THE WINDSHIELD. CURRENTLY, I HAVE SEVERAL CHIPS AND GASHES IN IT. THIS IS JUST CITY DRIVING AS WELL. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER POSTS ONLINE OF OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS WELL AS THE WINDSHIELD EASILY CRACKING. HECK, I WAS READING A REVIEW ON THE CAR FROM A VERY PROMINENT COMPANY AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DURING THE REVIEW. ANYWAYS, IT SEEMS LIKE THE QUALITY OR MAYBE THE DESIGN IS VERY MUCH AN ISSUE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED AN AUTOMOBILE WHOSE GLASS WAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE.

SINCE THE FIRST DAY DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MILES HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL, A C AND DRIVE TRAIN OR WHEEL PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TRANSFERRED.FROM A SANTA BARBARA CA DEALERSHIP TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN SAN LUIS OBISPO CA. THEY CALLED ME ON A SUNDAY TO SAY THE CAR WAS THERE IT WAS RAINING AND DARK. CAR HAD 400+ MILES ONE IT AND SAFETY CHECK HAD NOT BEEN DONE SINCE IT WAS ORIGINALLY RECEIVED WHEN IS WAS 0. ON THE 7TH OF A 10 MILE RIDE HOME THE WHOLE.ENTIRE DASHBOARD FIRST SIZZLED OUT LIKE AN OLD COMPUTER.MONITOR GOING BAD THEN.COMPLETELY WENT BLANK. I COULD NOT TELL HOW FAST I WAS GOING. AT THAT POINT I HAD NOT YET HOOKED UP MY PHONE.TO APPLE.PLAY WHICH IS A WHOLE NOTHER SOFTWARE ENDLESS.GLITCH BAG OF ISSUES. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR. IT POPPED THE HOOD AND ALMOST BURNED MY HANDS ON THE HOOD ARM. THE DIGITAL DASH TURNS BLACK AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A MONTH (NO MILES.PER HOUR, ETC). AT LEAST ONE TIME A WEEK THE CAR WON'T UNLOCK BY TOUCH EVEN THO I HAVE THE KEY ON ME. SINCE DAY ONE THE CLIMATE CONTROL WILL RANDOMLY TURN ON FULL BLAST. SINCE DAY ONE RIGHT FRONT LOUD BEARING NOISE NEAR TIE ROD ARM AND LOUD KNOCK/BEARING/BUMP NOISR IN DRIVE TRAIN AREA; UNDER DASH AND IN AND INSIDE DOORS AND SUN ROOF RATTLE SO LOUD I HAVE TO TURN UP THE MUSIC NOT TO HEAR IT LIKE PARTS ARE LOOSE, AT 9 MONTHS HOT FULL BLAST 90+ DEGREE HEAT COMES ON WHEN THE A C IS TURNED ON (STUCK.IN HEAT MODE) EVENTUALLY AFTER BEING TURNED OFF WILL RESET ITSELF THEN WORK NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TUNER AND ANTENNA NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE REARVIEW AND PASSENGER SIDE CAMERAS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONSOLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,900.
