ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Electrical board that controls the digital portion of the dashboard display fails in cold weather and (according to online discussion groups) appears to be progressively worse over time. My dashboard display is failing at temps below approx. 36 degrees Fahrenheit. The first failures were last winter (2024-25). The affected display includes odometer, fuel gauge, some service warnings/indicators, plus some additional but unimportant informational items (like outside temp, gas mileage, etc.). See, e.g.: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The right side gauge in the dashboard (fuel gage, odometer, mpg, etc) goes blank or shows giberish intermentently, especially when cold. Currently the display has been permanently blank for some months now. Reading in forums, this is a VERY common problem with 2015 and newer Honda Fit and Honda refuses to acknowledge its a common issue and thus no recall. Not knowing what your fuel level is a very big safety concern. Honda wants $1200 or more to fix.

My fuel gauge display malfunctions whenever the weather is too cold outside, causing the screen to go blank. It remains blank or glitches gibberish words until the screen returns to normal or stays frozen with gibberish language. I've noticed that the fuel gauge display works fine if I'm driving before 8 am during cold mornings, but it starts to malfunction or flicker until the display is frozen or blank once it's past 8 am. This problem has made it difficult for me to know when I'm low on gas as I commute a long distance for work. It's especially difficult during the cold winter months when my fuel gauge display is blank or malfunctioning 95% of the time. I've been experiencing this issue for about 3-4 years now whenever the colder seasons approach. I've been quoted $1000 to replace the entire dashboard by the Honda dealership when this issue wasn't a problem caused by me as other Honda fit owners have experienced the same concerns.

digital display with mileage, gas maintenance information intermittently fails or appears scrambled. Could possibly be connected to temperature but not consistent. It is a safety issue in that you don’t know how much gas you have and you cannot check maintenance information. This has been happening intermittently for about 2 1/2 years.

Digital odometer and fuel gague does not display, or displays scrambled letter/numbers. It appears to be related to temperature. When it is warm outside or the car warms up it will display, but id the car just started or it is cold out side it will not display at all or will be scrambled. Pounding on the dashboard sometimes causes it to turn on. This is an extremely common issue that i am seeing online from other honda fit owners and has been happening for the past 6 years from what i have found. Affecting 2015 models to the last models made. It is a safety issue to not be able to read your fuel level. And the odometer needs tor be read in order to see when oil needs to be changed and other services/maintenance.

There was a warranty extension for carbon buildup on the fuel injectors and I have taken my car to Honda twice to get the carbon removed and the software updated to fix the problem of multiple codes coming up. I took the car on Friday September 19, 2025 and I picked up the car at 3:30pm in September 20th. The person assisting me said they removed the buildup and fixed the software but at 11pm on the 20th, all the light came back on, indicating the problem was not fixed. I drove about 75 miles after getting my car back when the problem happened again. This has been incredibly unsafe for multiple reason. 1. When all the car dash indicators turn on, you can’t tell what the tire pressure is and if there are any problems. I have been having to manually check the tire pressure every few weeks because this is an ongoing problem and it causes the tire pressure gauge to not work 2. Because this is ongoing, you cannot reset the oil change maintenance indicator, so it is much harder to track when an oil change was last done. This has caused me to miss vital maintenance required to keep the car running well. 3. It is incredibly inconvenient to have to take the car to be fixed for the same problems multiple times. It costs consumers vital time, and potentially money without seeing any actual improvements. Although the diagnostics fee has been waived, having to potentially pay up to $200 in diagnostic fees makes consumers like me not want to take it for fear that may be very costly to even have them take a look at the car, thus making it less likely people will take the car in for necessary and important safety fixes. If you would like to see any records or inspection the vehicle, please feel free to reach out. The only fix I have been offered is to replace the fuel injectors for $1600, without any guarantee that it would fix the problem. I also took this matter up with Honda corporate, without any real solutions and there are multiple reports online of repeat problems.

Honda is not replacing the fuel pump on these vehicles. They are stating that the fuel pump has to fail before they replace it. If the fuel pump fails while someone is driving on the highway, there is a strong likelihood that they could crash. Honda has sent out recall flyers to take your vehicle to any local dealer and they will replace it for free. I have called every dealership within 50 miles of the D.C. area and none will replace the recalled fuel pump until the car breaks down.

Fuel injector failed and sluggish drive

Honda placed a recall for the fuel pump on my vehicle and did not notify me. I was notified by my insurance. I have had many issues caused by or related to this recall that they have refused to fix or remedy. They want me to pay out of pocket and they have completely delayed fixing my recall. They tell me the part is unavailable and they will call when available and then tell me they still don’t have it after 90+ days. They are refusing to replace the catalytic converter even though that’s the error code coming up and I am under the federal warranty for it. They are trying to charge me to fix my fuel injectors for the second time in less than a year and won’t cover the cost even though it could be a direct connection to a faulty fuel pump.

Check engine light with Code P219A. Honda dealer performed a cylinder A/F Imbalance test and recommended that the Fuel injectors be replaced. This appears to be a common problem with Honda Fits. The injectors are just as bad the recalled 30520-5R0-013 injectors. Honda claims the 2018 vehicles do not have those injectors. I beleive this vehicle has the same defective 30520-5R0-013 injectors.

I am reporting a known paint defect involving the White Orchid Pearl paint on my 2018 Honda Fit. The paint has begun to peel and delaminate, particularly on the roof and other panels, exposing bare metal. As a result, the exposed areas are now beginning to rust. Honda issued a Service Bulletin covering this issue for seven years from the original in-service date. However, I am not the original owner, and by the time I discovered the issue, the paint had already begun to deteriorate, and I was told I do not qualify for coverage under the extended paint warranty. This defect appears to be a manufacturer issue related specifically to the White Orchid Pearl paint, which has been widely reported on multiple Honda and Acura models. Honda is aware of this problem but has not offered consistent support to all affected vehicles and owners, especially those who are second-hand buyers, despite the fact that the defect originated from factory-applied paint and is unrelated to ownership. I believe this issue warrants further investigation due to the frequency of complaints, the potential for structural corrosion, and the financial burden on owners. I urge the NHTSA to formally investigate and consider action that will compel Honda to support all affected vehicles, regardless of ownership history. Photos of damage and rust progression are available upon request.

On [XXX], my Honda Fit started to jerk, and then all the warning lights started flashing on my dashboard. I didn’t know what was happening and with all this happening I could not see my speed only on the Octometer. When this first began the car also began to jerk. I immediately pulled over and stopped the car. I left it rest and restarted it and everything appeared normal again. I went about ten miles, and it started to reoccur again but not with the jerking. Warning lights continue to blink on the dashboard. I then turned around and went to the nearest Honda dealership to have it checked. They looked at the issue and said it would have to be checked by their computer and were unable to do then. They assured me it would do no damage to the car and continue to drive it and they could book me in a week. Since this was not my usual Honda dealership I decided I would call them on April 25th in the morning, which I did, and they made an appointment for that Wednesday. This continued in my car till I was able to have appointment. The appointment was set up on APRIL 30 at 1 1 am. I had friends follow me up for the appointment as that dealership was about fifty miles away. For $170 they were able to analyze the issue, this money would be put toward any amount that was needed to fix the issue. There was an issue the multipurpose camera unit (electronic failure) and a part had to be ordered and would come to the amount $1,761.42 to have this fixed. I had no choice but to have it repaired. I then asked the service manager does this happen a lot and his reply in front of one of my friends was that this had happened to six cars in the last two weeks, but they were not Honda fits but were Hondas. I left the Honda there overnight and it was repaired May 1, 2025. Many have questioned why this should have occurred and especially with the statement the service manager made. I am [XXX] and Honda was recommended to me. This is my first Honda. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. The dealership refuses to repair the fuel pump and all other issues, per the manufacturers recall. Steve Allain at Honda of Covington reported to me that the vehicle would not re-start if turned off. The leadership at the dealership (Kyle Mitchell) and Courtney Gullien communicated to me that the car was operable and the fuel pump was repaired, but will not provide service records that document this information. Tim in the parts department has communicated to me multiple times that no one from the dealership has ordered any parts related to the fuel pump recall for my vehicle. The manufacturer refuses assist with this matter and send someone from corporate to inspect the vehicle after multiple requests. The check engine light provided warning, along with a loud burning smell from the vehicle. The insurance company also refused to send a representative to inspect the vehicle. The issues with the stalling of the vehicle, not starting upon turning the key, and foul smell has been an ongoing issue since purchase. The previous dealerships claimed that they repaired the vehicle. The fuel pump is the component that has been failing. The vehicle has been inoperable and at the dealership since April 2023.

My company vehicle has fluid leaking on the floor, the check engine light constantly coming on, the rear camera is intermittently inoperable and it smells like something has died in it (mold/mildew). Since I have owned the vehicle, I have reported these issues to Honda dealerships and they have claimed to fix the problems. I paid for an extended warranty and each time the dealership forced me to pay for repeat issues that repeatedly continued to happen. The battery died more than once right after I purchased it. The car had to be towed a few times because of the electrical battery issue. The fluid that was leaking on the floor caused my leg, lungs and mental health to suffer. I am currently under doctors care for the mechanical issues the car has caused. This is my company vehicle and it has been at Honda of Covington since April 2023. American Honda has refused to help me get to the bottom of why multiple dealerships have refused to fix the vehicle.

Car is four years old and has 80,000 miles. Fuel injectors became stuck in an open position flooding the engine with fuel and frying the spark plugs. All emergency indicator lights came on and one light (the tire light) was flashing. Honda dealership confirmed fuel injectors were stuck open, but instead of admitting to failure in their parts, they blamed the problem on “bad gas.” An independent auto mechanic confirmed for me that gasoline should not be blamed on faulty fuel injectors. Unfortunately Honda charged me $2300 to replace parts that should last longer than four years.

Earlier today I paid $2,605 to have 4 fuel injectors replaced on a 2018 (75,000 miles) Honda Fit at Davis Honda in Burlington New Jersey. I see that earlier Honda Fits have a service bulletin/extended warranty on the fuel injectors that would have covered me [XXX] ). I also see that many of their other 2018 cars have service bulletins for similar fuel injector issues [XXX] ). It appears that this is a widespread issue that Honda should be addressing. At 74k miles my check engine light came on randomly. Took the car to a mechanic, who turned the light off and advised me to tighten the gas cap. A few weeks later the check engine light came back on. Auto zone said a spark plug needed replacement. About a week later the check engine light, along with many other lights came on. After a lot of research I learned that there is a recurring issue with Hondas (plural) and their fueling system due to direct injection. Leading to misdiagnosis, replacing unnecessary parts, only to be left with a check engine light. Luckily, I received a letter from honda informing me of the warranty extension for certain Fits due to carbon buildup and misfires. I took my fit to the dealer and shared my concerns with the service advisor. I took it to the experts in hopes that if it was a misfire with a DTC of P0300-P0304, they would surely get it right the first time. A few hours later I was informed they found DTC P0420, meaning the catalytic converted needed to be changed. Ignition coils were also faulty, therefore affecting the catalytic converter. CC was covered under the emissions warranty but coils were not. They could not/would not replace the CC unless I agreed to replace the coils. Despite me sharing my concerns the advisor failed to mention the DTC for the coils, which turned out to be P0304. I replaced the coils and CC, paid $885. When I read the invoice and saw DTC P0304, I got upset and asked a different advisor why the carbon cleaning wasn’t performed instead of changing the coils. I was told there wasn’t enough carbon buildup to be the root of the problem and that the technician had years of experience and I could rest assured there was no other way. Fine. I take the car, less than 48 hours later, my check engine light comes on again. I take the car back. This time I am told the car is showing DTC P2198 and they recommend replacing the fuel injectors and fuel pipe! No DTC misfire, so unable to perform carbon cleanup.

I purchased a new Honda Fit in 2018. In November 2019, at 31,000 miles several indicator lights came on. The check engine, TPMS, Vehicle Stability assist, Electric Power System. The car was running smoothly but I was told by a Honda dealer there was excessive carbon build up. The cost to clean it out would be $500. They claimed that because this was caused by an outside element and a part had not failed that the warranty would not cover this. I fought it and they did a one-time courtesy repair at no charge. June 2021, 51,000 miles and the same thing happened all over again. Car running smoothly, no hesitation, no misfires. Different Honda dealer told me it was excessive carbon build up on manifold and this time it would be $604 plus tax. I asked if there was a maintenance service that would prevent this from happening and I was told no. That the fuel system service offered does not reach the areas of the engine where the carbon builds up. This is a problem with Direct Injection engines. Clearly there is a flaw in the direct injection engine design that Honda has known about for years and does not want to take responsibility for. This is unacceptable and Honda is committing consumer fraud by knowingly selling a flawed product that jeopardizes the safety of their customers. I do not feel safe driving this car with these failures in the engine, not knowing when this problem is going to happen again and facing an expensive repair bill every time it does happen. Not to mention the inconvenience of being without a car for several days while it is being repaired. I have documentation to back all of this up.

In colder temperatures, the instrument gauge cluster begins flickering like there is a loose connection. Online research indicates there are many honda fit owners who are experiencing the same thing and the problem appears to be related to the solder joints that expand and contract in cold/warm temps, causing connectivity issues.

I am a 76 year old Minnesota woman who lives on a limited budget. I purchased a used 2018 Honda Fit from Richfield Bloomington Honda (RBH) on 04-07-21. Initially the tachometer & speedometer gauges could easily be read during both day and night driving. Within about a month, during daylight driving these gauges became dark and very difficult to read – especially while driving with sunglasses during the day to protect my eyes from UVA and UVB rays. Other Honda Fit owners have experienced the same issue. Here’s a post I found on the internet: “I traded in my 2015 Fit last year for a 2017 Fit Sport. I seem to recall that, on the 2015, when in "daylight mode", the speedo/tach/fuel gauges were automatically brightly lit at full brightness. I've noticed lately that on my 2017, only the fuel gauge lights up brightly in daylight. The tach and speedo remain completely dark and barely readable. Honda dealer says nothing is wrong. Is this normal?” RBH has implied that the illumination problem I experience with my speedometer is somehow my fault – either because I wear the wrong sunglasses or that I shouldn’t wear any sunglasses when I drive. My 2018 Honda Fit is not safe when I take my eyes off a crowded hwy for 2-3 seconds while trying to discern my speed from a dark, barely readable speedometer. This could lead to a tragic accident! I met with several RBH reps re this illumination problem and sent follow up emails which were ignored. Because pf my low income, I can’t afford to fix the gauge problem and rely on my warrantee. Today only 200 miles are left before my warrantee ends, and RBH is in no hurry to fix the gauge problem. Because this is a safety issue, I want the speedometer fixed by RBH at no cost to me even if my warrantee ends due to RBH delays. I need RBH to provide me with a free loaner car until the speedometer on my 2018 Honda Fit is fixed and deemed safe to drive by an independent auto mechanic.

Multipurpose camera stopped working in normal conditions. Dealership says the camera is faulty. Several safety functions such as lane keep assist, collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control no longer work.
Oct 02, 2025
Component/System Involved: The multi-purpose camera system on my 2018 Honda Fit has malfunctioned, disabling critical safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), and Collision Braking Warning System (CBWS). Safety Risk: The failure of these systems creates significant safety risks. Without ACC, the vehicle cannot maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. The LKAS no longer provides steering assistance to help stay in the lane, and the CBWS cannot detect or warn of potential collisions. These malfunctions increase the likelihood of accidents, especially during highway driving or in heavy traffic. Problem Reproduction and Confirmation: The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by Norm Reeves Honda Cerritos during an inspection on 8/13/25. Inspection Details: The vehicle has been inspected by a dealer/service center, which diagnosed the problem. However, the manufacturer has not offered a resolution, nor has the vehicle been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other parties. Warning Indicators: Before the failure, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts for ACC, LKAS, and CBWS system malfunctions. These warnings initially appeared on 8/12/25 and became more frequent over time. I believe this issue may be a design or manufacturing defect affecting other vehicles of the same make and model. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to determine if it represents a broader safety concern.

I have had my Honda fit for almost 7 years now and every winter I have an issue with the ADAS system. The car will throw a warning saying the sensor is obstructed and to clean off the windshield. Every time I check to make sure there's nothing obstructing the sensors. If I had to guess, the plastic covering is trapping heat from warming up the car and fogging the glass but I can't do anything about it since the plastic is not removable. It seems like a flaw in the design that operating the car with the heat on in winter can cause issues with the ADAS.

The automated braking system deployed at maximum braking without warning 3 times in 60 miles of highway driving (this was the first time I had driven this car on a highway). The road in front was completely clear of both cars and debris for several miles, it was sunny without glare, and the road was dry. The one common factor was that all 3 times occurred while passing a semi truck, as I pulled level with the cab. I was thrown forward against the seatbelt while the car slammed on its brakes while beeping and flashing the orange 'BRAKE' warning, dropping from highway speeds by about 25 mph before I was able to intervene. Thankfully there was also no traffic behind me, so I was able to recover control of the vehicle, but otherwise this would have absolutely caused a collision. Prior to this incident, there were no warning signs or indications of a problem. I had purchased the vehicle as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle less than a week before, at which point it had been thoroughly inspected by the dealership and certified as free from issues. I have reported the issue to the dealership, but from cursory searching online it appears this is a known, unremediated issue - a quote from Wilde East Towne Honda (not my dealer): "You may find that CMBS is giving you notifications and even feedback when no threat is detected. That is normal on occasions...CMBS picks up 'optical illusions' occasionally"

Two separate issues: The variable valve timing control (VTC) actuator is defective. There is a Honda service bulletin on this issue that has impacted many years of Honda Fits and has proven to be a defective unit. Service Bulletin 16-088. This repair should be covered as this defective part can cause severe damage to the engine costing the consumer thousands of dollars to repair. A simple search of Honda Fit VTC issues will show an outsized number of people having this issue. This is Honda's own service bulletin - The exterior paint on the vehicle may peel off. American Honda is extending the warranty on the paint of the affected vehicles to 7 years from the original date of purchase with no mileage limit. This warranty extension does not apply to other paint issues like rock chips, scratches, bird droppings, sap, wraps, dents, collision damage, customer-induced damage, etc. However this only covers a couple colors, Vehicles that are painted NH-788P. AHM referred to the white pearl paint as both White Orchid Pearl and Bellanova White. My car is painted red and is exhibiting the same issues as described in the Honda Service Bulletin 19-064. The same warranty extension should extend to our car as well as the paint and process was defective.

I took in my car for the fuel pump recall on October 4th at Clawson Honda Fresno. I took it home the same day and the next day my car was stalling and shut off on me. I took my car back to Clawson Honda on October 8th and they scanned it and said the fuel pressure was low. They cleared the codes that they claimed were unrelated to the recall and wanted to charge me 390 for diagnostics. I refused. My car is still stalling in the road and many of the dash lights come on. The car wont let me accelerate. I took it back to Clawson Honda October 30th because this issue was not present prior to the recall. We just received a call that the fuel pump that was replaced is making the other components work harder which is causing it to stall. This is all clearly caused by the recall but they want me to pay 1500 out of pocket to have it fixed. Which is unfair. I submitted a complaint to Honda corporate but they still say we have to pay dealership fees. My car was working fine before the recall and Im frustrated that it was returned to me in worse condition. This was all because of the recall fuel pump and the issues are all connected so I shouldnt have to pay.

Multiple systems failure simultaneously. Lane Keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, braking system failure and automatic emergency braking as well as forward collision warning. This appears to be due to some fault within the system that multiple owners experience — many mentions of this issue in online forums. When taken to Honda they cannot even determine why but just start suggesting replacement of various systems to include the camera/radar but cannot guarantee this will fix. This is a safety issue and happens through no fault of the vehicle owner it just pops on one day and remains intermittent.

VSA, power steering, engine light, and tire sensor light all came on at once. The car was not steering properly. I took the car in May 16, 2024, and they determined that a carbon buildup in the engine was the cause, and said the cylinder also had a misfire. They also said that the car needed a software update. I asked about the recall, because the recall letter I got in the mail states that if the engine light comes on, then it is eligible for repair. But they refused to repair it, claiming that the issue was only due to the carbon buildup, and said they have no parts available. However on my invoice when picking up the car, they listed the recall as if it were part of the repairs. I asked, just to verify, if they repaired it and they said no. I called the Honda number on my recall letter, and they spoke with the main manager at the dealership and told me that they determined the issue with my car wasn't due to the fuel pump recall. So do I have to drive my car until I have issues/until the engine is damaged by this safety issue? That doesn't make sense.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Fit. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and started to shake. The check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone where a diagnostic test was performed and produced DTC code: P0420 (Catalyst System Low Efficiency). Additionally, the contact stated that he independently replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, and the injectors however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that his brother was an independent mechanic and was able to use a code reader and retrieved DTC code: P0420. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I have noticed a grinding/rattling when starting my Fit from a cold engine. I have taken the car to the dealership and mentioned the noise - they recommended getting a new battery. Afterwards the noice was still happening. I took it in again and stated theres a rattling sound on a cold start. The dealer said that couldn't replicate it and probably related to the exhaust system. Now I have taken it in once again because the noise is getting worse and not just on cold starts and at this point they inform me that it's the VTC Actuator. Upon hearing this I googled the part and this is a long running issue for Hondas and there have been several service bulletins about it. The VTC Alternator has cause the timing chain to stretch in some vehicles according to this search which then can cause total engine failure. I do not feel safe driving a car that has been having issues with the VTC Actuator for years and Honda has not be held accountable for this.

The car will randomly shut off the ACC, collision warning, and lane assist. The dealership says this is due to an error with the fuel injection system and fuel injectors need replaced. There Was a similar recall on the 2015-2916 Honda fit, but was supposedly fixed on later cars. This is still the same flaw but for some reason affects these other safety systems too.

all vehicle warning lights came on specifically the check engine light for an emissions system problem. At the time the car had around 100,000 miles so it was suspected that the issue had to be with the battery, o2 sensors, or spark plug and ignition coil, so those parts were replaced. The vehicle still shows all the warning lights and reads codes for misfires in the first and second cylinder. If the issue with the fuel injectors was recalled and fixed for the 2015-2016 model Honda Fit, then it cant possibly be that the 2017-2020 honda fits also have a fuel injector problem, unless they also do and the issue has been neglected.

We have a recurring hazardous issue with our iPhoneX plugged into the USB port on our 2018 Fit EX-L Hondalink radio system. Typically after 20 seconds to hours after starting the car with the iPhone connected, an iTunes song from the phone will start playing spontaneously. And it also almost always occurs soon after using Siri on my iPhone via the Hondalink system. But sometimes it can happen just driving much later for no reason at all. This is hazardous because on occasions when it suddenly played the music the volume was so loud it scared the driver. So this is a safety issue! I found postings about similar issues online that suggested various iPhone settings changes which I tried without success. One posting though simply replaced the Honda radio with a Sony aftermarket radio and that did resolve the issue. Today I also spoke with Kenya at Hondalink support at 888-528-7876 but she said she found no information about the defect. She suggested I take the car back to the dealer (at my expense).

All the dashboard lights came on in my car. I took it to the dealer and they said they needed to clean the injectors due to carbon buildup. My car has 42,000 miles on it and is 2018 Honda Fit. They charged me 613 dollars to clean the injectors. Then they updated the computer. Two days later all the lights came on again and was throwing a fourth cylinder misfire code 304. They told me they would have to replace the injectors for 2,300 dollars. The Honda only has 42,000 miles on it, and the dealer said he would not be able to cover the cost. I thought injectors were covered under the powertrain warranty, but he said it was covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Clearly, from reading other complaints here, there is a major issue with the injectors.

A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE (NEW) IN FALL OF 2017 I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS UNCOMFORTABLY WARM. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEAT HEATER. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALER, THAT SERVICE DEPT. TOOK AN EXTENSIVE CHECK AND AGAIN I WAS TOLD ALL WAS WORKING FINE AND THEY FIXED NOTHING. HOWEVER, AFTER THAT SECOND SERVICE THE SEAT WAS COMFORTABLE AND I HAD NO COMPLAINT UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN THE SEAT AGAIN BECAME UNCOMFORTABLY WARM (WITH THE HEATER ON OFF). I TOOK IT TO THE SECOND DEALERSHIP, THE PERSON IN THE SERVICE DEPT. TOOK THE CAR FOR A DRIVE AROUND TOWN AND SAID THAT THE SEAT "RETAINED MORE HEAT THAN HIS VEHICLE OR OTHERS HE DROVE) HE DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING WAS WRONG, SO NO ONE WORKED ON CHECKING OUT THE WIRING OR ANYTHING AND IT IS STILL UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE.

I WAS ON FM529 IN THE LEFT HAND TURN LANE HEADING TOWARDS THE SOLID GREEN LIGHT, AS I WAS APPROACHING THE LIGHT I STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND NOTICED IN MY LEFT PERIPHERAL VISION A BLACK CAR WAITING TO PULL OUT. I SLOWED DOWN TO 20 MPH WHERE I PROCEEDED TO HEAD TO THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THIS BLACK CAR PULLED OUT CROSSED TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC & SIDE SWIPED MY CAR ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE FROM THE FRONT OF THE LEFT BUMPER ACROSS THE LEFT WHEEL WELL ABOVE THE LEFT TIRE, HIT PART OF MY LEFT DOOR AND COMPLETED TURNED MY LEFT MIRROR INWARD SO THAT IT WAS FLUSH WITH MY LEFT WINDOW. THIS BLACK CAR WAS MUCH BIGGER THAN MINE(2014 TOYOTA CAMRY) AND IT DID GIVE ME QUITE A JOLT UPON IMPACT. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY IN THE LEFT HAND TURN LANE WHEN SHE PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION. THE LADY THAT DID THIS WANTED TO LEAVE THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. I SAID NO, BECAUSE I WANTED A POLICE REPORT. SHE ALSO STATED SEVERAL TIMES THAT SHE NEVER SAW ME IN THE LEFT HAND TURN LANE. I CALLED 911 AND TWO POLICE OFFICERS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE. ONE SAID IT WAS NOT WORTH DOING A REPORT BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS LESS THAN $1K. HE STATED THIS WHILE HE WAS LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE TO HER CAR NOT MINE. THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR IS ROUGHLY AROUND $2K & HE ALSO STATED THAT IF HE WERE TO WRITE A REPORT UP, THAT OUR CAR INSURANCE WOULD JUMP "SKY HIGH". THERE WERE NO TICKETS GIVEN AT THE TIME. THE LADY AND I AGREED TO HANDLE THIS OUT OF POCKET. I ALSO TOLD THE OFFICERS THAT THE LADY HAD STATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT SHE NEVER SAW ME, BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 7:55 AM. THIS LADY CREATED THE PROBLEM BY NOT LOOKING TO HER RIGHT SIDE AND LOOKING STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF HER BEFORE PULLING OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I THINK MY BACK WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS DAMAGED AS IT WAS WORKING JUST FINE BEFORE THE ACCIDENT & NO LONGER WORKS. ALIGNMENT MUST BE CHECKED.

I BOUGHT THE HONDA FIT ON JANUARY 27, 2018. BY EARLY FEBRUARY I HAD DEVELOPED AN INJURY THAT I WILL DETAIL BELOW BUT WHICH WAS ENTIRELY A RESULT OF DRIVING THE CAR I HAD JUST BOUGHT. I HAVE NOW NOT DRIVEN THE FIT AT ALL SINCE APRIL 18 AND DESPITE SEVERAL MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS (DOCUMENTS ATTACHED), I REMAIN IN DAILY PAIN. MY GP HAS DIRECTED ME TO SEE AN ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALIST WHO I WILL BE SEEING THIS AFTERNOON. THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT BELT TONGUE IN THE 2018 HONDA FIT IS PARTICULARLY LARGE & HEAVY; I WAS TOLD BY HONDA SERVICE THAT THE SIZE IS A RESULT OF DRIVER-SIDE SAFETY SENSORS. THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS LOCATED HIGH ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT & WHEN BUCKLED (WHETHER STANDING STILL OR IN MOTION), THE WEIGHT & SIZE OF THE TONGUE PULLS THE ENTIRE MECHANISM AT A PARTICULARLY SHARP ANGLE TOWARD THE DRIVER. IN MY CASE, THE SEAT BELT TONGUE-&-BUCKLE HITS MY RIGHT HIP AT SUCH AN ANGLE THAT IT AGGRAVATES A NERVE AND RESULTS IN BOTH IMMEDIATE & LASTING PAIN. I BEGAN TO TRY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BY ASKING HONDA SERVICE TO ADJUST THE SEAT BELT BUT THREE GOOD-FAITH EFFORTS ON THEIR PART DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM; THE DEALERSHIP ASSOCIATED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I WENT TO SAW IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY TO UPSELL ME TO A MORE EXPENSIVE CAR; TWO SEPARATE EFFORTS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE VIA AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE RESULTED IN BEING TOLD THAT AS THE PART WAS NOT DEFECTIVE, THEY WOULD NOT BE HELPING ME (SCREENSHOT OF PRIVATE EXCHANGE ON TWITTER, ATTACHED.) FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, ALL I'VE ASKED FOR IS EITHER A DIFFERENT SEAT BELT WITH A DIFFERENT TONGUE-&-BUCKLE MECHANISM, OR A TRADE-IN FOR AN EARLIER MODEL WITH A DIFFERENT SEAT BELT, AND AT BOTH THE NATIONAL AND THE FRANCHISE LEVEL, NO ONE WAS WILLING TO WORK WITH ME IN EITHER DIRECTION.
