The transmission seized while driving no lights no warnings. I could have been killed so could other people! when no lights no check engine light or service lights are on. And your car is properly maintained there should be no reason the transmission should just seize while Driving with no warning shame on Honda shame on everyone who lets them get away with putting peoples life’s endanger. CVT transmission are not safe or the engineers have failed my lights all work too and still have no check engine light on. Car is totally underivable no lights nothing.

The CVT transmission, which is part of the vehicle’s powertrain system, experienced a premature failure. The vehicle became inoperable and was in an unsafe location, so the police had to tow it. I am not sure if a police report was issued. The tow resulted in extensive impound fees. The transmission is available for inspection upon request. The failure caused loss of power and unpredictable operation, making the vehicle unsafe to drive, especially in traffic. This created a risk of collision to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. The problem has been diagnosed and confirmed by a Honda dealership, which determined the transmission has failed and that the vehicle is not safe to operate. The vehicle has been inspected by a Honda dealership, and the manufacturer has been notified through Honda Customer Relations. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the failure. The transmission failed suddenly and without warning. The exact date of the failure is 01/15/2026 and it happened at 105,000. I’ve only had the car 10 months and started with 93,853.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a sudden and unsafe CVT transmission failure on my Honda vehicle. While driving, the vehicle began shaking violently, lost the ability to accelerate, and multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the check engine light. The vehicle was unable to be driven safely and had to be towed. A diagnostic inspection performed by an authorized Honda dealership confirmed CVT failure consistent with Honda Service Bulletin #21-047, including the presence of transmission belt material in the fluid. This failure mode is documented by Honda as a known manufacturing defect that can cause loss of power and drivability. I contacted Honda Corporate Customer Relations and opened a case on 12/3. Despite multiple communications, Honda has denied goodwill or warranty assistance solely based on warranty expiration, without addressing the documented defect or the safety implications. I specifically requested that Honda provide a written explanation detailing the technical basis for denying coverage on this safety-related failure. Driving on interstate when vehicle suddenly downshifted resulting in lurch slowdown and high engine rpms. Pulled to median. Shift indicator light flashes, dash Brake System warning light flashes, Parking system warning lights, check engine light on. Attempted to drive to nearby dealer for troubleshooting. Vehicle drives when put into gear, but must paddle shift into higher gears. After couple seconds automatically downshifts again. Paddle shifting will shift into higher gear, but returns to lower gears automatically. Shop says transmission test shows P271E, 83-16 warning error so transmission must have failed.

Transmission belt failure at 100k miles. This incident occurred after the recall repair for the software update related to the transmission. Most hazard indicators switched on, vehicle could not go over 50 miles per hour. Took vehicle into honda service center. They determined it to be a transmission failure.

My daughters 2016 Honda HRV (59k) has continual electrical issues. First it's the battery sensor $617. Then the keyless access control module $1100 but given a discount. Something is also wrong with the heated seat it burned a hole in the seat. Honda says it's 10 years old it's gonna start falling apart. Numerous complaints online with all of the electrical issues mentioned and the service manager says Honda doesn't have to issue recalls until there's class action lawsuit filed for vehicles. All of this stuff has happened in the last 8 months.

The information display panel on the instrument cluster goes blank or gibberish when it is cooler outside. The car does this when it is cold. After the car warms up it gets better. This looks to be a common problem

Instrument cluster fuel gauge become garbled or blank (lower right side). Happens more often when the outside temperature drops. This has been happening for years now but corrects itself when the engine has warmed. There are multiple complaints on the Honda forums and complaints issued with NHTSA also for this issue.

I bought this car at 2016 4 months later I'm hearing metal to metal noise at driver side wheel Then I took it to the dealer they said is the seat belt making that noise. I ask, then are you sure not from the driver side wheel. They no it's from the seat belt. Then I. Said ok but the sound through the year it becomes loader Then I look online for most common problems on honda hrv. Then I found about 5 or 6 forum for honda hrv bad bearing on front driver side. 2020 I took it back to the dealer and they said no its not the bearing is the seatbelt that there finding again second tome around. Then I took it to a tire shop. They said my bearing was bad and it's been like that for a long time they said. They said the honda dealer should at list found this problem on the second time I complain. I said no,they still said is the seat belt. The tire shop said I have to change the bearing because is worn out so bad that they don't recommend me to drive it. So I have them change it. Do I have a reason to complain at honda company about my problem

Odometer display doesn't work. It comes on only after driving a long distance. Doesn't help to know how much fuel is remaining or when I take it for emission test where they need to see odometer reading. I have seen many user complaints on the same topic. I took it to two dealers - Honda of Chantilly and Tysons and they said it's not something they can fix and asked me to find a local mechanic.

Hi, the CVT fill plug keeps coming out which cause leaks and is a safety hazard. This has happened on numerous occasions. Apparently, it affects the 2016-2018 Honda HR-V and Civic 2015-2018. May you please recall these vehicles to fix this problem because it is a hazard.

Paint recall expired. I have owned my vehicle since new, production date is 12/2015 with about 82,000 miles. It has been serviced regularly at the Honda dealership since new, my information has never changed. I have never been notified personally, phone call, text, email or regular mail that my vehicle had a recall for paint. The pictures on the NHTSA web site matches mine exactly. Honda America says that the recall covers my vehicle but it has expired. Is this fair when I have never been notified?

I had the push start button replaced approximately 2 years ago due to the part failing and the car being extremely hard to start. This was covered by Honda (not sure if it was an actual recall). Now I am having the exact same issue again. This is extremely dangerous as I leave work late at night and alone. I am tired of constantly being stranded and it taking several minutes to get my car started. Their replacement part has failed just like the original part did.

The car is a 2016 Honda HRV. The car is orchid pearl (white) and has developed extensive paint issues where the paint is peeling on the doors and potentially places on the roof. The car is an excellent overall condition with no history of auto accidents. This paint issue is common for this color HRV and impacts the value of the vehicle and will lead to body surface rust and the problem continues to worsen each month.

Faulty seams and gaskets in the rear cause water to leak into spare tire well. This causes mold & mildew issues to occur. From online research, this is an extremeley common issue for the 2016 Honda HR-V. There is evidence that the water is coming in through the rear tail lights. This has been a common failure point for many others online, which is why I think this is worthy of recall. I first had mold issues about 18 months ago. I thought it may have been from a spilled drink, so I sanitized the upholstery and moved on. Now a few weeks after some rainy weather, I found mold on the upholstery again and felt increased interior humidity in the car. My point is that this issue could remain benign for a long time and manifest as mold during heavy/rainy weather.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -while driving (Honda HRV) the sunroof exploded and shattered glass sprayed all over our family. Nothing hit or caused trauma to the glass, it simply exploded by itself. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -shattered glass sprayed all over 3 adults and an infant and could have caused facial injuries, abrasions, and more. Additionally the loud noise of the explosion and distraction of the event could have led to a car wreck on a busy highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -Unsure. I did see a class action law suit with Honda. After a rain storm, I noticed that the trunk door of my Honda HRV was filled with water. I could tell that it had a large amount of water in it because I could hear the water sloshing when driving. I also saw water slowly dripping from the trunk door when I opened it. I could tell that there was a lot more water in the door, but there was no way for me to drain it. In addition to having water in my trunk door, I found that the water had also filled in the spare tire well. Upon researching the issue, I have found that this is a common issue with my make and model as many people on a forum reported the same issue. I believe this is a safety issue because it can cause mold problems which is a health hazard. It can also cause damage to the trunk door and electrical components. In addition, water filling in the spare tire well could cause issues with the spare tire and potentially make it unusable. I took my car to the Honda service center and was told that this is a known problem for my make and model, and that the rubber around the tail light deteriorated. Their solution was to replace the tail lights, which would cost over a thousand dollars. Although I understand that rubber can deteriorate, this issue is not found on most cars and is specific to my model. The car should be designed to drain water and not have its parts fill up with water if the rubber has deteriorated.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed several times, but the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he veered to the side of the road and rubbed the tires of the vehicle against the curb and the vehicle slowed down. The contact pulled into a parking lot and switched gears to park and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to his insurance company for assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

THE ABS IN OUR 2016 HONDA HR-V DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK AT ALL. WHEN ATTEMPTING A HARD STOP, WE HAVE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES OURSELVES SINCE THE SYSTEM DOES NOT DO THAT AUTOMATICALLY. RECENTLY, I WAS TRAVELING AT 35 MPH ON A RAIN-SLICK STREET (AFTER HOURS OF RAIN), HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID A STOPPED VEHICLE AND COULD NOT STOP. I PUMPED THE BRAKES HARD, ONLY SLOWED A BIT, SWERVED AND STILL BUMPED INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME.

RIGHT REAR ROTOR HAD GROOVES IN IT AFTER ABOUT 22,000 MILES. BRAKE PADS HAVE A LOT OF MATERIAL LEFT. DON'T KNOW IF THE ROTOR OR THE PADS ARE THE PROBLEM.

CAR'S BREAKS REQUIRE HARD STEP TO FUNCTION AND SEEM TO "FAIL" WHEN BACKING UP IN THE MORNING. SEEMS TO FUNCTION NORMALLY DURING THE REST OF THE DAY. HAVE NOT TESTED FORWARD BREAKS IN MORNING SINCE WE ALWAYS BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY.

I HAVE HAD BOTH REAR CALIPERS FAIL TO INCLUDE THE EPB UNIT. THE RIGHT REAR CALIPER FAILED AT APROX 48K ALONG WITH THE EPB UNIT. THE SECOND, LEFT REAR CALIPER FAILED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH AT APROX 58K WHICH GROUND DOWN THE NEW ROTOR AND BREAK PADS CAUSING THE REPLACEMENT OF BOTH ROTORS AND BREAK PADS. THESE PARTS SHO ULD NOT FAIL AT THIS LOW MILEAGE.

Transmission failed. Left in heavy traffic with no way to move car. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected by Honda. No warnings before the failed transmission occurred. Sitting at stop light, when gas pedal depressed, no forward or backward movement.

I have replaced my catalyst converter and my check engine light and parking brake light and the safety key light has turned on. The warranty on my vehicle was over the miles before they sent me the notice on the push start button key but I had issue with this before it had passed the warranty miles. The notice was sent to late after I went over. The other lights I had a auto parts hook up the machine and its indicating the engine control module (ECM) detects a catalytic converter problem, it might record DTC P0420, defined as “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold.” I am so fed up with this and bought my Honda new and never had issues with it until I bought this Honda HRV model. I love my care but if it wasn't for this.

I have a 2016 HR-V A large amount of water gets trapped inside the rear tail light which can short out the lights if not repaired. I noticed it after hearing water sloshing around every time I opened the rear trunk. This is a manufacturing defect and a definite safety issue for Honda. Problem has been an issue since at least 2017 but nothing has been done. Others have reported this as well. Took it to Honda dealer who claimed no knowledge of any issues like this

OBSERVED HR-V PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT. CAR COMPLETELY DARK. BRAKE LIGHTS WORK NORMALLY, DRL'S APPEARED TO BE ON. I ASSUMED DRIVER FORGOT TO TURN ON LIGHTS. TWO WEEKS LATER, DRIVER PULLED OVER BY POLICE AT NIGHT FOR NO PARKING LIGHTS. TROBLESHOOTING SHOWED NORMAL BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, HAZARD FLASHERS, AND DASH LIGHTS DIM WHEN PARKING LIGHTS SELECTED. COULD NOT FIND ANY FUSE OR RELAY REFERENCED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR THE PARKING LIGHTS. FOUND A SCHEMATIC ONLINE AND ISOLATED PROBLEM TO A "TAILLIGHT RELAY" BUT COULD NOT FIND THE RELAY REFERENCED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, OR FIND LOCATION ONLINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW, AND DISCOVERED THAT I CAN'T BE DRIVING IT, BECAUSE MY BACK AND MY HIP HURTS SO BAD, THAT I CAN ONLY USE THIS CAR IF MY TRIPS ARE NO LONGER THAN FEW MILES. ANYTHING FURTHER THAN THAT, I GET SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT I CAN'T MOVE MY LEG FROM GAS TO BRAKES. IT IS DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THIS CAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY HIP PROBLEMS AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH CAR SEATS.

THE TEST DRIVE WAS VERY SHORT AND I DID NOT REALIZE THERE WAS A PROBLEM UNTIL 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. THERE IS A BIG HARD LUMP IN THE CENTER OF THE DRIVERS SEAT THAT CAUSES BAD PAIN. IT EVEN MAKES MY BACK HURT.

AFTER PURCHASING AND BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, I NOTICED A PRESSURE POINT IN MY MID-BACK. IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WOULD TAKE AS LITTLE TIME AS MY 7 MINUTE COMMUTE TO CAUSE MY BACK TO GO NUMB. THIS NUMBNESS WOULD PERSIST FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER SEAT AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER AND BACK SEATS. IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ADJUST THE SEAT, BUT NO AMOUNT OF SEAT ADJUSTMENT WOULD ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM. ONE HONDA DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS SEAT HAD NO LUMBAR SUPPORT AND I SHOULD INSTALL LEATHER OVER THE CLOTH OR TRADE FOR ANOTHER HONDA. I WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE HAD ALREADY DEPRECIATED 30%. I KNEW I WAS ALREADY AT A LOSS SO I WASN'T GOING TO SINK ANY MORE MONEY INTO HONDA. I HAD TO TRADE MY CAR AFTER 1 MONTH OF OWNERSHIP.

ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2017, WHILE DRIVING, WE DISCOVERED A NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A LOOSE SHOCK OR STRUT. WE BROUGHT OUR CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SHOCK WENT BAD. SO THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SHOCK. ON APPROXIMATELY JANUARY 7, THE SAME SOUND HAS RETURNED AND WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THAT HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THE SHOCKS FOR 2015 AND 2016 MODELS. I HAVE CONDUCTED A SEARCH FOR THIS RECALL ON (HTTP://M.OWNERS.HONDA.COM/MAINTENANCE/RECALLS) BASED ON MY VIN AND IT INDICATES THERE ARE NO RECALLS. I AM CURRENTLY REQUESTING THE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO INDICATE THAT HONDA HAS IN FACT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I BOUGHT A 2016 WHITE HRV IN FEB. WITHIN A MONTH A GIANT SECTION OF PAINT PEELED RIGHT OFF THE ROOF. I WAS JUST READY TO PAY FOR IT. TOOK TO A PROFESSIONAL CAR PAINTER AND HE SAID "ID LOVE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY, BUT THIS IS A HONDA DEFECT AND THEY REALLY SHOULD FIX IT AND ITS GOING TO KEEP COMING OFF THE REST OF THE ROOF AND OTHER PLACES". THEN HE SAID HE KNEW THAT HONDA WAS HAVING PAINT PEELING ISSUES ESPECIALLY WHITE CARS. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE 2 VERY SMALL SECTIONS OF PEELED PAINT ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNDER THE WINDOW. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND FILED A CLAIM BUT HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM CORPORATE.

The odometer cluster began flickering and froze up disallowing driver the ability to view mileage, fuel level, and other maintenance information. The safety of all involved will be severely impacted if car runs out of gas during trip. The problem is cited in a number of online posts related to this make and model. The problem is too expensive to diagnose and or repair at a dealership. The problem increases with outside environmental temperature changes. cluster works occasionally if driver taps odometer cluster screen. One online post traces the problem to a soldering failure inside the cluster.

Our 2016 Honda HR-V experienced a significant issue when the fuel pump unexpectedly failed, causing the car to stall while driving uphill over an overpass. Thankfully, this incident occurred in town. It could have happened while driving on the interstate, which would have posed a severe safety risk to our family. We promptly had the Honda HR-V towed to our local Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair, where we were presented with a bill totaling over $900, including sales tax, for replacing the fuel pump. Upon further reflection, I am concerned as to why this fuel pump failure was not included in any recalls or notifications. I am aware that certain fuel pumps in other Honda HR-Vs and models have been subject to recalls due to similar issues, and I am concerned as to why the fuel pump in this 2016 HR-V was not addressed proactively. There were no warning signs, no warning signals, and no warning symptoms before the fuel pump failure.

AT 9808/9809 MILES MY CAR DEVELOPED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A FUEL LEAK. IN CLOSE QUARTERS LIKE MY GARAGE IT IS POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS IN MY GARAGE DUE TO A PILOT LIGHT FOR THE WATER HEATER. ( EXPLOSION DANGER). THE CAR WAS PRESSURE TESTED AND WORKER SUGGESTED IT WAS AN ADDITIVE TO LAS VEGAS FUEL. MY CAR WAS SHOWING 3 BARS FILLED IN THE FUEL TANK. I FILLED THE TANK AND THE SMELL STOPPED. 2 WEEKS LATER THE SMELL IS BACK. TANK HAS BEEN FILLED AND YET THIS TIME THE SMELL HAS PERSISTED. APPARENTLY IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE AT THIS POINT WHAT THE FUEL LEVEL IS NOR THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE. I ONLY SMELL THIS WHEN I AM PARKED IN CLOSE QUARTERS. THERE ARE NO OTHER SOURCES OF FUEL IN THE GARAGE. AT THIS TIME (FEBRUARY 7, 2018)I DO NOT SMELL THIS ODOR INSIDE THE CAR.

I was driving on the interstate in cruise, the car engine started revving hard. My speed jumped up to 85mph. Then all of a sudden the vehicle jerked hard and I lost all acceleration. The car rapidly decelerated. Then, the power steering, check engine, vehicle stability assist, electric parking brake, and low tire pressure lights all came on. As well as the gear indicator was unable to show if I was in drive, park, or neutral. The vehicle became very sluggish and started stuttering I had to carefully navigate between other cars flying past me until I was able to get to the side of the road, I was almost hit 3 times, once by a semi-truck. Once I got it to the side of the road I was unable to get the car to move at all. The engine would rev but the car would not move. The car was towed to the local Honda dealer in Evansville, IN. The dealership said that the CVT transmission belt had shattered and that the transmission needed to be replaced. I asked them about the TSB Number: [XXX]. They stated that I am out of the 7-year / 150k mile extended warranty so it is going to cost $7,662 to replace it. The vehicle has only 72,000 on it. 8/1/2020: AT 65 MPH THE ENGINE STARTED VIBRATING, WHEN ACCELERATED TO 75MPH ENGINE STALLS, RPM RAPIDLY INCREASED TO ~5000 AND COLLAPSED. LOST FORWARD MOMENTUM AND OUTPUT FROM THE ENGINE. MULTIPLE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON (POWER STEERING, TIRE PRESSURE WARNING, BREAK SYSTEM LIGHTS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ETC. CAME ON). VEHICLE WAS ON THE ACTIVE LANE, PUT IN NEUTRAL AND STEERED TO THE SHOULDER. UNABLE TO GET THE CAR MOVING AGAIN AFTER TURNING OFF AND ON. AFRAID THAT I WAS GOING TO LOSE AC IN THE 108F HEAT IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT TURN ON AGAIN SO I LEFT IT AT THAT UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVES.THE CAR HAD TO BE LEFT OVERNIGHT BECAUSE DEALERSHIP CLOSE SUNDAY. 8/2/2020: THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL FROM SUPERSTITION HONDA REGARDING THE VEHICLE'S DIAGNOSIS. WAS INFORMED THAT THE DIAGNOSIS CODE OBSERVED WAS RELATED TO THE IGNITION START PUSH BUTTON THAT NEEDED REPLACING. I GAVE CONSENT TO THE SERVICE TO REPLACE THE IGNITION BUTTON. 8/3/2020: AFTER I WENT TO SUPERSTITION HONDA TO PICK UP THE CAR. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR ONTO HIGHWAY 60 AND GOT UP TO THE STATED SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH WHEN THE SAME SYMPTOMS APPEARED. VEHICLE STALLED AT SPEED, RPM RAPIDLY INCREASED TO ~5000 BEFORE COLLAPSING. I WAS IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AT THE AREA WHERE I CAME TO A STOP ON THE HIGHWAY, THEREFORE I WAS STATIONARY PARTIALLY IN THE ACTIVE LANE.THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT GAVE ANY INDICATION THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE. AFTER RETURNING TO SUPERSTITION HONDA, I LEFT THE VEHICLE ON AND HAD IT DIAGNOSE BEFORE TURNING THE CAR OFF. WAS EVENTUALLY INFORMED THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THAT THE METAL FRAGMENTS ALSO DAMAGED A PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.

ALL INDICATORS LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. BRAKES SEEMED TO LOCK AND COULD NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP UNTIL THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED FROM IT SLOWLY WIRING DOWN. CAR STOPPED MOVING WHILE ON DRIVE AND WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE SPEED INDICATOR KEPT MOVING FROM 0 TO 120 YET THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC AND IT APPEARS TO BE AN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKS GOOD YET THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING ISSUES. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES.

THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID PORT FREEZES AND DOESN'T ALLOW FLUID TO BE SQUIRTED ON THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO, THE WIPERS ARE TOO LOW ON THE WINDSHIELD TO GET DEFROSTED BY THE "DEFROST" MODE ON THE HEATER AND THEREFORE SKIP ON THE WINDSHIELD WHERE THERE IS ICE ON THE WIPERS. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION AS WELL AS WHILE STATIONARY.

WE HAD PURCHASED THE HR-V IN HUNTSVILLE, AL. DURING THE DRIVE BACK TO NEW ORLEANS AN OBJECT CAUSED A SMALL CRATER IN THE WINDSHIELD. LATER IN JUNE A CRACK FORMED ON THE UPPER, MIDDLE PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS NOT CONNECTED WITH THE ORIGINAL CRATER. THEN THIS PAST SATURDAY ANOTHER CRATER APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD AS WE WERE DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD AT 40 MPH. THIS CONCERNS ME BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD ON THIS HR-V SEEMS TO BE QUITE FRAGILE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 30+ YEARS NOW AND I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH ANY VEHICLE LIKE THIS ONE. THE WINDSHIELD WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MIGHT INDICATE A FLAW IN THE HR-V'S WINDSHIELD WHICH SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a serious safety issue affecting Honda vehicles — specifically the widespread failure of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module — and Honda's failure to issue a recall despite extensive evidence and customer reports. A recent YouTube video titled "Why Honda Hasn’t Recalled This Dangerous Problem" [XXX] ) highlights that many Honda owners are experiencing identical issues: ABS warning lights appearing on the dashboard, inconsistent braking behavior, and in some cases, total brake failure. This is a major safety hazard, especially in emergency braking scenarios or on wet or slippery roads. I personally experienced this issue with my own Honda vehicle. After taking it to a Honda dealership, I was quoted $3,000 to replace the defective ABS module — a steep and unfair out-of-pocket expense for what clearly appears to be a design or manufacturing defect. The dealership acknowledged that this is a common problem, yet I was told there is no recall, leaving me with the financial burden and a compromised vehicle. From numerous reports, it's evident that this issue spans across different Honda models and production years. Yet, Honda continues to ignore the risk, even though a faulty ABS system directly compromises vehicle control and passenger safety. I respectfully urge the NHTSA to conduct a formal investigation into these ABS module failures and compel Honda to issue a recall and reimburse affected owners. Allowing these vehicles to remain on the road in unsafe condition poses a danger not only to Honda drivers but to everyone sharing the road with them. (NEW ISSUE) 2 DAYS AGO I HAD ISSUES TRYING TO START THE CAR UP(THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE BATTERY RELATED) ALL THESE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON (BRAKE, TIRE PRESSURE, ENGINE LIGHT (TOTAL OF 6 LIGHTS) I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SO I WENT DIRECTLY TO DEALER. I WAS TOLD I HAD RODENT DAMAGE AND THE COST WAS $424. I STILL HAVE NOT PICKED THE CAR UP AS INSURANCE NEEDS TO SEE REPAIRS. I LEARNED THAT HONDA IS NOW INVOLVED W A LAWSUIT DUE TO THE CHANGE FROM PLASTIC WIRE COATING TO SOY BASED PRODUCT WHICH IS DRAWING RODENTS TO FEAST ON WIRING. I CONTACTED CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THIS UNDER WARRANTY. I.M STILL PAYING OFF A HEFTY LOAN (2 YEARS LEFT) AND I HAVE NO GUARANTEE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. I was driving the car home from work and all of the warning lights on the dashboard came on- the check engine light, tire pressure light, traction control light, brake warning light, and the park emergency brake light. The "park" sign and p/r/d light lights were flashing. The car would not accelerate past 35 miles without it kicking back. I was terrified to drive the car on the interstate due to the acceleration kick back. I had to take a longer route home. I prayed the entire way. I keep up with my car maintenance with oil changes, etc. I even had the transmission fluid changed one year prior to this event. I had no prior issues, messages, symptoms, or other problems with this car prior to this event. It happened suddenly. I took the car to the dealership who initially told me the issue was a p0793 sensor and then a week later informed me that I needed a new transmission. I bought this car brand new, and it currently has 90,000 miles on it. Honda posted a bulletin in April 2021 they are aware that this make, and model has transmission issues, but because I am one year outside of the extended warranty, they are not willing to work with me.

ON 12/28 9:00PM, WAS DRIVING AT 73MPH ON US 68 NORTH BOUND IN A CRUISE MODE SET AT 73MPH. PHYSICAL CONTACT BETWEEN DRIVER AND THE VEHICLE CONTROL COMPONENT WAS ONLY STEERING WHEEL. WHILE DRIVING, RPM SUDDENLY REVED UP TO 5.5K AND DRIVER IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN THE CRUISE MODE BY PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER THE CRUISE MODE BEING CANCELED, THE ENGINE REVED UP TO 5.5K AGAIN. DRIVER PULLED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND IDENTIFIED ALL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. THE CAR WAS SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATELY BY TAKING THE KEY OUT. THE CAR IS TOWED TO HUGH WHITE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBUS OHIO.

I was driving on a Nevada highway and getting into an off ramp with mild traffic. I attempted to break so I could stop behind another driver and realized my breaks weren't working. I then put my entire body weight on the breaks and they failed to stop or slow down my vehicle. I ended up colliding into the vehicle ahead at 50 mph. Even with an impact of 50mph not a single airbag went off. I sustained head injuries. This could have been lethal. Myself and my passenger could have died. The breaks failed resulting in a collision and the air bags did NOT go off. My vehicle was totaled on the spot and i spent over 7 hours in the hospital due to my vehicles failing to keep me safe. I did reasrch and almost every other 2016 Honda HRV has a recall for the breaks and somehow mine did not when the breaks failure could have killed me.

Tires were purchased from Discount Tires a few years back and on 6/08/2021 I went back to them due to a flat back passenger tire and they stated they are unable to patch and replaced the tire with a cost of $122. On Sunday October 31, 2021 I am driving on I-75 and the same tire explodes and takes out the wheel well and all the trim around the tire and damages the bumper of my Honda. Tire in question is Kumho Solus 215/55 r17.

I PURCHASED MY HR-V (EX-L WITH NAVIGATION) IN MAY 2015 AND HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST WEEK OF DRIVING. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA SERVICE THAT MY HR-V NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT THAT THERE IS NOT ONE AVAILABLE YET (IT HAS NOW BEEN 1 YEAR). WHEN I AM DRIVING, AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT, THE ENTIRE DISPLAY SCREEN GOES BLACK / SHUTS DOWN AND REBOOTS TO THE HONDA SCREEN. I HAVE NO NAVIGATION, RADIO, BLUETOOTH PHONE CONNECTION OR ANY DISPLAY WHATSOEVER. WHEN THE SCREEN COMES BACK ON, IT HAS REMEMBERED MY DESTINATION MOST TIMES AND ASKS IF I'D LIKE TO CONTINUE TO THE DESTINATION, BUT THIS IS VERY UNSETTLING TO SAY THE LEAST, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM IN AN UNFAMILIAR AREA. ALSO, THE RADIO FREEZES UP AND WONT PLAY ANY SOUND - USING XM RADIO, IPOD, AM OR FM, NOTHING COMES OUT OF THE SPEAKERS UNTIL I "JAR" IT BY PUTTING A CD INTO THE SLOT, THEN I GET TO HEAR THE CD. THIS PROCESS OF THE RADIO FREEZE ENDS UP LOCKING UP MY IPOD AND LEAVES IT UNABLE TO RECONNECT UNTIL THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DIES AND I RECHARGE IT AND START OVER THE NEXT DAY. I have had this car repaired and diagnosed by 5 different dealerships, I have had leak test done The check engine and parking brake light keep coming on with the word “park” flashing when I drive. The codes say purge valve which has been replaced 3 times!!! it also says fuel leak and they did a smoke test for a leak but nothing!! there is something faulty with this and it’s only a matter of time before it reacts poorly while driving and kills someone. There are SEVERAL other people online dealing with the same issues for the 2016 Honda HRV there needs to be an investigation before someone dies from whatever is faulty in this system I have been complaining about this since 2021!!! it keeps coming back

The problem started after sitting and talking on a phone with car running while waiting for groceries. About a week later, I started having on and off electrical system issues. and all the lights came on the dashboard with ABS as the main one. If I locked my trunk over and over it would go away. During this time, I got locked in my car and out of my car. The key would not work properly. The trunk would not lock properly. The brakes would get stuck and I could not release them. The car would not move. This happened on and off for about two weeks. I took it to my mechanic. He ran the diagnostic test and nothing came back. He charged the battery and the problem went away for a couple of weeks. The problem started again and was especially frightening when I could not get out of my car. I took it to the dealer. They told me I needed new locks for the trunk, the door and that the car needed a new computer for the ABS. I told them how is that possible. My mechanic did not find an issue and my car at that time didn't even have 100,000 miles and was a Honda. I switched from Nissan with transmission issues at 130,000 miles to a Honda which has great safety and performance reviews. They said there was no recall. I do not understand how a car with less than 100,000 miles has all of these safety issues that can trap me in the car and not allow me to brake properly at high speeds. I have done research online and find there are many complaints about the computer system ABS sensor online and have heard this from a second mechanic who indicated he was dealing with the same issue for another customer. He disabled my ABS system so I would not continue to have braking issues where it holds or does not seem to release properly, where there are on and off electrical issues with locks, locking, phone, etc. And the Landmark Honda dealer in Alexandria VA wants to charge 3000 for a new computer for a car that is supposed to be safe and reliable and does not even have 100,000 miles.

Push start/stop button was noting working properly (this had a recall and was replaced). However after it was repaired, I noticed the right-sided gas gauge with service repair numbers, milage etc is not working properly; the gas guage and service repair codes disappear and/or are scrambled. I took this to the Honda dealership in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and was told by the service advisor (Drew Mechley) that their mechanic said he doesn't think it is related to the start/stop button repair but this is a common probelm seen with HR-Vs. I also found multiple forums with people experiencing the same issue. Here is one of the forums [XXX] . I am concerned this is a safety issue as I cannot see when my gas is out and cannot see when a service code displays for needed maintenance that could damage the vehicle if it is not completed. Was told over the that it is likely an electrical panel issue in the dashboard display (they did not put this in the service report as they wanted additional money for further diagnostic which I did not complete). I worry that the electrical issue could eventually affect the speed gauge on the dashboard. Due to this being a common issue seen in the HR-V with both consumers and Honda mechanics, I feel a recall should be issued. On two separate occasions during February this has occurred. While at a stop sign with the brake floored the engine revved and the car started to slowly inch forward. Later in the month, at a convenience store, before shifting into park the brake was thoroughly depressed and the engine once again revved and the car started to inch forward. It only stopped when I pushed on the brake with all my might. The car had had its yearly inspection in January.

Incident happened one time. Starting car in cold weather (around 25 degrees) after it hadn't been driven in 2 days. The odometer/gas display was black at start up. After a few minutes the gauge lights came on but the digital display was gibberish. I started to drive and once the car warmed up after several minutes the digital display was working as it should and recording milage and acceleration/deceleration speed. My mechanic hooked up the car and no codes were showing a malfunction. Many other folks in the Honda forums have this exact issue. I'm driving this car on a road trip and am concerned something dangerous could occur. For now I will manually/mentally record mileage to ensure I dont run out of gas and praying this isnt a large electrical short issue

The parking brake engages on and off when the car is turned off. There are 3 lights flashing -check engine light -the word “park” - the parking brake light I have had the code read and it says it is the evap canister purge valve which has already been replaced, the light went off temporarily and it’s back on again. The transmission is noisy when accelerating. The purge valve keeps going bad for no apparent reason and the parking brake randomly engaging and disengaging when the car is turned off leads me to believe there is an issue overall with the build of the car. I am worried the emergency brake will engage when driving.

Driving smoothly 67 mph on 210 freeway in Azusa California car suddenly lost acceleration in heavy traffic..steered car 4 lanes over than exited off ramp. Car had some low acceleration all warning lights flashing on my dash..none made any indication what's wrong..had car towed to honda..said it was the transmission! Honda had recall before this..took it in..they adjusted it but when i got it back it was reving too high rpm at 65 mph took it back again and they said it was fine..i don't think so than this happened!

The contact owns a 2016 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving up an incline an abnormal scraping sound was coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted about the issue and the contact was informed of an unknown recall on the transmission. The VIN tool showed no recalls on her vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

When driving on the highway, my vehicle accelerated very suddenly despite me not having put additional pressure on the gas pedal, as I was at a cruising speed of about 65 mph. Immediately after accelerating, my vehicle began to quickly decelerate, so much so that I had to veer over to the shoulder so as not to cause a collision with other vehicles on the road. It decelerated despite my foot still pressing on the gas pedal. In addition, the lights on my dash lit up and some began flashing. I took my vehicle into the dealership to discover that the computer system required an update and my transmission belt had deteriorated so much that it needed to be replaced. I was assured by the dealership that I would not experience this issue again after these repairs had been made. Since then, I have taken my vehicle to the dealership with this same issue an additional 3 times. Even after these multiple attempts at repair, this issue still has not been resolved. I am no longer comfortable driving this vehicle as it has shut down on the highway on more than one occasion now. I cannot in good faith be on the road knowing that this could occur again at any moment, causing a safety risk not only to myself, but to others around me as well.

My Hatch has been filling up with lots of water not too long after I began leasing it and it sloshes around, it is in my rear lights, has made the inside light of my hatch no longer work. Now, water is leaking in from both rear windows and somewhere in through the fabric of the inside back roof area creating a growing water stain and mold. Spare Tire well in back also fills up with up to 2 inches of water. Mold, Rust, Electrical problems and more are the result. Honda has not yet taken care of it although I have had a diagnostic and see that it has been reported here multiple times.

The VSA modulator went out in the car making all lights on the dashboard flash and light up, and crashed the computer system for the car. The VSA modulator was not working due to an internal failure is all I was told. My VSA modulator went out while I was in Drive with the brake applied in the drive thru for food. This prevented the vehicle from being driven safely due to not knowing what was lit up on the dashboard, caused visual confusion and distraction while driving, and would cause a panic to a driver if the VSA modulator went out on them while they were driving. Plus the displays crashed, so there was no way or knowing your speed. The VSA modulator was replaced for nearly $1,500 from the Honda Dealership and there were no prior errors on this vehicle or part.

THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE MORE 20-30 TIMES NOW IN THE PAST LESS THAN ONE YEAR. I RESET THE CRUISE SPEED AGAIN AND IT AGAIN CANCELS THE SET SPEED.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY DASH LIGHTS ALL LIT AND MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND A PLUG HAD BEEN BLOWN OFF MY TRANSMISSION AND SPILLED FLUID ALL ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. GOT A TOW TO THE CLOSER HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED WITH BITS OF METAL ALL INSIDE AND MY START/STOP SWITCH WENT OUT.

A HEATED SEAT MALFUNCTION BURNED A HOLE IN MY PANTS AND MELTED MY DRIVER'S LICENSE. IT LIKELY WOULD HAVE BURNED MY SKIN IF MY WALLET HAD NOT BEEN THERE. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM A HIKE, IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, I USED THE HEATED SEAT ON THE HIGH SETTING. IT WAS A SUNNY DAY AND I AND MY CLOTHES WERE DRY. AS WE GOT CLOSE TO HOME, AFTER MAYBE 15-20 MINUTES OF USAGE, IT SUDDENLY FELT UNCOMFORTABLY HOT. I TURNED OFF THE HEATED SEAT. I DIDN'T NOTICE THE DAMAGE UNTIL LATER THAT NIGHT, WHEN I BIKED TO A NEARBY GROCERY STORE AND PULLED OUT MY WALLET TO PAY FOR GROCERIES. I NOTICED THAT MY DRIVER'S LICENSE (THE TOP OF WHICH PROTRUDES OUT FROM MY WALLET) HAD SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT HEAT DAMAGE, WITH A PEA-SIZED BROWN SPOT AND DISTORTIONS OF THE MATERIAL AROUND IT. THE DRIVER'S LICENSE WAS LIGHTLY STUCK TO THE CARD BEHIND IT (MY HEALTH INSURANCE ID CARD), WHICH ALSO SUFFERED SLIGHT DISTORTIONS IN THE MATERIAL BUT NO BROWN SPOT. I THEN NOTICED THE MATCHING DIME-SIZED HOLE BURNED IN MY PANTS' RIGHT REAR POCKET, WHERE I KEEP THE WALLET. THE EDGES OF THIS HOLE WERE SINGED. I SUSPECTED THE HEATED SEAT SINCE IT WAS THE ONLY HEAT SOURCE I HAD BEEN AROUND. UPON RETURNING HOME I INSPECTED IT AND FOUND A MATCHING DIME-SIZED HOLE BURNED THROUGH THE CUSHIONING OF THE SEAT WHERE MY RIGHT REAR POCKET WOULD BE, WITH AN EXPOSED HEATING ELEMENT NOW VISIBLE THROUGH THE HOLE.

TODAY AT 1:30PM THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON THE LIGHTS AND ELECTRONIC PANEL WAS SHOWING IN YELLOW AND FLASHED RAPIDLY. ONE WEEK AGO, I NOTICED WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE CAR SHOOK AND THE ENGINE STRUGGLED TO START, THE LIGHTS ON THE ELECTRONIC PANEL FLASHED BUT THEY STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT I NOTICED THE FLASHING LIGHTS, IN ADDITION, I NOTICED FOR A FEW MONTHS THAT DURING DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN WHEN I WAS MAKING TURNS. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR HAD NO WOWED STEERING CAPABILITIES AND IT CONTINUED UP TO THIS POINT. ALSO, I NOTICED THAT THE CAR DROVE AS IF IT WAS LOSING ITS BRAKES. IT FIRST STARTED OUT BY WHAT I THOUGHT WAS JUST A ISSUE WITH ME HAVING THREE NEW TIRES BC IT WOULD DRIVE AS IF IT WAS SCRUBBING. ONE DAY I WAS ON MY WAY BACK FROM A HAIR APPOINTMENT AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CAR WENT FROM BEING IN DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AND FLASHING WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT SO FROM THAT MOMENT ON I PULLED THE CAR OVER AND PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF AND HIT THE ELECTRICAL PARK BRAKE TO MAKE SURE THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. CRUNK BACK UP AND WAS ON MY WAY. SO TODAY 11/30 WHICH IS A WEEK LATER I WAS AT THE RED LIGHT STOPPED AND ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I RELEASED MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND GENTLY PRESSED THE GAS AND THE CAR ACTED AS IF IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO. SO AFTER STILL LIGHTLY HITTING THE GAS PRAYING IT WOULD MOVE ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD FOR ME TO PARK IT IN FRONT OF A STORE; I MADE IT DIRECTLY OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO THE STORE PARKING LOT. ONCE I GOT IT THERE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON. I THEN RIED TO PUT IT IN DRIVE AND REVERSE AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. ASSUMING IT COULD HAVE BEEN A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT NONE OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DAHS CAME ON. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN OCCURING A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW, THE MONITOR SHUTS OFF AND ON IN THE CAR AND GOES BACK TO THE ORIGINAL HONDA LINK SCREEN EVERY TIME IT RESTARTS.

MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN THE PAST YEAR, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS COOLER OUTSIDE, MY CAR SCREEN FOR MY MILEAGE, GAS TANK HAND, AND ALL OF THAT ELECTRICAL STUFF WILL COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. WHEN IT SHOWS BACK UP MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL HAVE CRAZY LETTERS AND START FLASHING. THE ICON WITH THE KEY HAS RECENTLY POPPED UP ON MY DASH WHICH STANDS FOR SOMETHING BEING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA HR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AAA ARRIVED AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FLATBED OF THEIR TRUCK, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CORAL SPRINGS HONDA (LOCATED AT 9400 W ATLANTIC BLVD, CORAL SPRINGS, FL 33071, (954) 369-4679) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE DEALER SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORAL SPRINGS HONDA WHERE A TEST DRIVE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE OF THE SALESPERSON DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE THE SALESPERSON WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,700.

I LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD. WHEN THE ROAD IS WET, THE WHEELS COLLECT MUD AROUND THE REAR SURFACE WHILE DRIVING, THEN THE MUD SETTLES TO THE BOTTOM WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY, DRIES, AND THROWS THE WHEELS OUT OF BALANCE. SOMETIMES THE WHEELS ARE SO BADLY UNBALANCED THEY SHAKE VIOLENTLY ABOVE 50 MPH AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR NEW IN 2016. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR OF THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO REMOVE, WASH AND REMOUNT THE WHEELS. THEY DID IT FOR FREE TWICE BUT THEN INFORMED ME THEY WOULD CHARGE ME EACH SUBSEQUENT TIME THIS SERVICE IS NEEDED. THIS PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY A RECURRING PROBLEM AND HAS REQUIRED REPAIR SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I STOPPED GOING TO THE DEALER, BUT THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM OR SAFETY ISSUE. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME, STATING THEIR WHEELS MEET ALL LEGAL REQUIREMENTS. AS A FORMER AUTO MECHANIC, I BELIEVE UNBALANCED, SKIPPING WHEELS ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. SO, EVERY MONTH OR TWO, OR WHENEVER I NEED TO DO FREEWAY DRIVING, I HAVE TO JACK UP THE CAR, REMOVE THE WHEELS, POWER WASH THE DRY DIRT FROM THE BACK SIDES, AND REPLACE THEM TO ACHIEVE BALANCE AND GET THE VIBRATING AND BOUNCING TO STOP. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR OR HEARD OF A CAR WHERE THIS IS A REASONABLE MAINTENANCE EXPECTATION THAT A MFR. OR DEALER EXPECTS AN OWNER TO TAKE ON. MY HONDA HR-V STARTED LEAKING WATER WHILE PARKED. THE WATER THAT ENTERED THE VEHICLE WAS SUBSTANTIAL (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES). THE WATER LEAKAGE WAS DETERMINED A THIRD PARTY CONTRACTOR THAT THE DEALERSHIP HIRED AFTER FAILING TO DETECT THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR OVER A MONTH. THE WATER WAS LEAKING IN THROUGH A FAULTY SEAL IN THE WINDSHIELD ABOVE THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR-BAG PLASTIC MOLDING AND GETTING BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THE WATER CAUSED ELECTRICAL DAMAGE IN THE CAR THAT MADE LIGHTS AND RELAYS START TRIPPING OUT, EVENTUALLY THE BATTERY DIED. THE CAR WAS PARKED DURING THE INCIDENT AND I FOUND THE DAMAGE AFTER RAIN STORM. THE CARPETS ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BEING WATER DAMAGED AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO MOLD. THE RAINSTORM THAT CAME THROUGH WAS SIGNIFICANT, HOWEVER THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN GOING ON WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE TO A LESSER EXTENT. DUE TO THE WAY THE WATER WAS GETTING INTO THE CAR IT COULD BE ALMOST UNDETECTABLE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME SINCE ALL OF THE DAMAGE IS HIDDEN BY PLASTIC MOLDING. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP, NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND NEVER HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY STOCK AS FAR AS THE AFFECTED PARTS GO.

DEC. 30, 2015 I PURCHASED A HONDA HR-V LX, ON JAN. 9, 2016 2:34 A.M. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET AND SUDDENLY THE DRIVERS SIDE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING MY VIEW TO BE OBSTRUCTED, RESULTING IN THE AUTOMOBILE LEAVING THE ROAD CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT & BACK WHEELS, TIRES, WHEEL ASSEMBLY AND UNDERCARRIAGE. A TRUCKER WITNESS THE EVENT AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE POLICE. HE STAYED WITH ME BECAUSE I QUICKLY GOT OUT OF THE CAR SINCE I THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE DUE TO A STRONG FIRE ODOR A SMOKE. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE UNTIL MY MOTHER ARRIVED. AT 2:50 A.M. 2- BIRMINGHAM POLICE OFFICERS SURVEYED THE CAR AND ISSUED AN INCIDENT REPORT FOR DAMAGE SINCE NO ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE, MEANING I DIDN'T HIT ANYONE OR ANYTHING AND NO BODY DAMAGE WAS SEEN, I WAS ABOUT 5-MINS FROM HOME. I WAS MORE SHAKEN UP THAT INJURED. MY NOSE WAS JUST SORE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. SINCE MY NEW HONDA WAS NOT DRIVE-ABLE, THE AAA ROAD SERVICE WAS CALLED, THE TOWING SERVICE ARRIVED AT 4:10 A.M. AND I HAD IT TOWED BACKS TO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL, I MUST HAVE HIT A POT HOLE IN THE ROAD THAT CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. THE ROAD IN QUESTIONED THAT I WAS ON IS A NEWLY PAVED ROAD, NO THE POT HOLE ASSUMPTION DIDN'T RING TRUE. THERE WAS THOUGHT A POTHOLE LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP DECEMBER 30, 2015 WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY THEN.
