the fuel gauge, mileage don't show until the car is warmed up. this happens on a cold weather.
Jan 19, 2026
The dashboard light don't turn on on a cold weather day until the car is warm. The dealer charged me $215.97 in late October but it started again. Dealer says right software cluster must be replaced now.
Jan 18, 2026
Odometer and fuel gauge cluster on dashboard only working intermittently. Started in November 2025 in the cold weather the display would get blurry, then not work. Honda dealership confirmed problem but did not offer a recall or TSB. Only offered to replace that gauge cluster for $2,365. Safety concern as driver cannot know the amount of fuel left in the vehicle. If vehicle runs out of fuel, can cause crash.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that the fuel gauge reading was intermittently inoperable. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while starting the vehicle, with the fuel gauge reading being displayed after driving for an extended period. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that it was an instrument cluster failure, and there would be a charge for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The instrument panel with the odometer and gas gauge goes out completely at random times. Before the panel goes dark, the display flickers chaotically. I always note the issue to the dealership when I service my car. On the 2nd occasion, I was told the entire panel would have to be replaced at a cost of $1800. I told the service tech that I could not afford that expense. His recommendation was to bang on an area close to the display with my fist to get it to reappear. He actually demonstrated how to do it. The Honda Dealerships are aware of the problem and admit it’s a manufacturing design flaw. I have tolerated this for several years thinking Honda would offer compensation for the problem. However, yesterday when it was working, an alert appeared in the middle of the display about an issue with my fuel cap. I’m aware that the fuel cap issue is related to a recall, but if the display had not been working I wouldn’t have seen the alert because I wasn’t aware that alerts appear on that display and I realize now that I can miss an urgent alert. To me that’s a huge safety issue! I’ve seen hundreds of complaints online about this, and I know it’s caused by cracks in the solder. I would like for Honda to be accountable and let customers have this repaired at no charge.

The instrument cluster within the dashboard cuts out in cold temperature preventing you from seeing your fuel, mileage, as well as oil life. It was inspected by 2 different dealerships and was told its a common problem with the Hrv's This is a common occurrence with this vehicle.

On the driver's dashboard, the right side gauge of the dash blinks out and shows unreadable letters/characters. This makes it impossible to read this gauge and see how much fuel is remaining in the car. It is most problematic in colder months.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a severe and widespread paint peeling/delamination defect on my 2018 Honda HR-V, which is painted in the White Orchid Pearl (NH-788P) color. Nature of the Defect: The exterior clear coat and base coat are separating from the underlying primer, resulting in large, unsightly patches of paint peeling and flaking off the vehicle's body panels. This is a clear manufacturing adhesion failure, not damage due to wear, tear, or external environmental factors. Manufacturer Acknowledgment: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. previously acknowledged this defect by issuing a Warranty Extension (Technical Service Bulletin 19-064, issued August 29, 2019) for specific models, including the 2016-2018 HR-V, extending the warranty coverage for this specific paint problem to 7 years from the original date of purchase with no mileage limit. The Current Issue: My vehicle has recently begun exhibiting this peeling condition, which is consistent with the defect covered under TSB 19-064. However, I have been informed by the dealer/Honda Customer Service that the 7-year warranty extension period has expired as of 2024, and they are refusing to cover the cost of the necessary repainting, which can cost thousands of dollars. Request for Action: The underlying problem is a manufacturing defect that exists for the life of the vehicle and is only now manifesting due to premature failure. Limiting the remedy to a seven-year period is inadequate for a defect that is inherent to the production process and directly affects the vehicle's structural integrity over time (potential for rust exposure). I respectfully request that the Office of Defects Investigation review the data related to this known manufacturing defect (Honda White Pearl Paint Peeling, TSB 19-064) and consider the following actions: Re-open or Extend the Investigation: Investigate the ongoing nature of this failure and the adequacy of Honda’s limited remedy. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a defect in my 2018 Honda HR-V, specifically with the White Orchid Pearl paint (paint code NH-788P). This issue appears to be widespread, as evidenced by a previous warranty extension issued by Honda in 2019 and ongoing class action lawsuits related to paint delamination on affected models. I purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V in June 2020, unaware of any pre-existing paint defects. Recently, I have noticed significant peeling of the paint on the roof in four distinct places. The affected paint is the White Orchid Pearl color with code NH-788P, which matches the vehicles covered under Honda's 2019 warranty extension for paint delamination issues. This extension was issued following reports of the clear coat and paint layers separating, leading to peeling, flaking, and exposure of the underlying primer or metal. This defect is not due to any fault of my own, such as improper maintenance or environmental damage beyond normal use. The vehicle has been garaged and maintained according to Honda's recommendations. Despite this, the paint failure has resulted in an estimated devaluation of my vehicle by up to $5,000, based on comparable market values for similar models without this issue. I have no recourse through Honda, leaving me with significant financial loss and a vehicle that is aesthetically compromised and potentially prone to further deterioration, such as rust if the peeling exposes metal. While paint peeling may not immediately present as a safety hazard, it could lead to other issues and Honda should be accountable for their vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter, review the existing warranty extension and TSB, and consider mandating a recall or further extension to cover repairs for affected owners like myself. Please contact me at [XXX] or [XXX] for any additional information.. Thank you for your attention to this complaint. I look forward to your response. White pearl paint has started peeling off the roof of my car. It is not a safety issue. Honda is declining to cover the extended warranty on the paint although I brought it to the dealer before the warranty was up. The dealer took photos and informed me they would be contacting Honda Corporate. Honda Corporate states the dealer did not contact them.

We initially chose this Honda vehicle as we are Honda owners and valued their reliability. While driving with my six year old son in the car our HRV it started shaking anytime I accelerated. No check engine lights or other lights came on but I turned back home and drove my husbands car before taking my car into the shop where they diagnosed it as a CVT transmission failure. There was a recall issued for this vehicle due to transmission issues tied to the CVT and in 2022 we did have the software update that was supposed to resolve this issue. It did not and this transmission failed, our case for good will assistance was denied and we are left with a $9,000.00 problem in addition to the nearly $7,000.00 still owed on this vehicle that we purchased in 2021 (we are second . Any Honda owners looking to purchase the 2018 HRV should consider their probability of failure due to the CVT transmission that no longer falls under their extended recall warranty. It really is a disappointment to know that Honda does not standby their product seeing as their customers invest thousands of dollars into these purchases. In summary Honda acknowledged this CVT defect, extended coverage, and even performed their product update on my vehicle. Despite that, my CVT failed prematurely from the same issue, only months outside the time window but far under the mileage limit. Honda denied assistance for reasons unrelated to the defect itself (service history and number of Hondas in their system), refused to provide a written denial, and blocked escalation to higher review. My case number is 15868599.

2018 Honda HRV EX AWD premature CVT transmission failure at 68,314 miles. Problem diagnosed and confirmed by an independent mechanic on July 10th and by a Honda Dealership on July15th. I had to pay the Honda dealership to replace the transmission. I do not know where the old transmission was sent or if it was inspected, could contact Honda Dealership for further information. Safety of myself, passengers and other vehicles were at risk due to sluggish excelaration, jerky movements and at times unable to get the vehicle to move at all. These actions could have caused a rear end crash, front end crash or side crashes due to other vehicles not knowing what was happening. I did not have the control or the ability to move the vehicle off the road. July 3, 2025 dash lights unexpedtedly came on with no prior warning. Dashboard lights were a yellow P(parking) with an exclamation point, Red PARK light, yellow brake system light and a yellow check engine light. All lights led me to believe there was a problem with the braking system or the emergency brake was engaged. No lights indicating a transmission problem.

The contact purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V for his daughter. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The driver became aware of several unknown warning lights illuminated before the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 15 MPH. The driver was able to pull over and stop the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a mechanic. The contact stated that the mechanic advised that there was a known issue with the CVT transmission and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that there were metal shavings found inside the transmission fluid. The contact called the manufacturer about a warranty coverage program for the CVT transmission. The contact was advised that his daughter's vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure and filed a case for the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

I was driving on the highway and suddenly my 2018 Honda HRV had a power failure, with the dash flashing and loss of acceleration. Luckily, I was able to coast off the highway with hazards on. After numerous power cycles, I was able to get the car into limp mode but could not go over 30mph. I took it to the dealer and was diagnosed to be the known Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) issue. My car is in great condition, with only 97k miles. I was at the dealership only a week before for the fuel injector recall, and this transmission issue was not mentioned. According to Service Bulletin 21-0467, the extended warranty to cover the CVT defect covers 7 years and 150k miles -- unfortunately, my car was is an 7 years and 1 month old according to the "delivery date" in Honda's system. I am still trying to verify this claim. I was denied all warranty and goodwill from Honda and quoted over $10,000 for the repair. I called the corporate contact (America Honda Motor Co.) to no avail. Both the dealer and corporate offices deny any liability for a known defect, after having brought the car to their service center just days before the warranty allegedly ended.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,861.

I just want to get my recall done. It’s almost 2 years since the recall was announced and no one is able to do my car. I called Open Road Honda a bunch of times, last year they told me parts are not available. I have been following up since then every few months since honda sent a letter that parts are available. I just get sent to voicemail and no one calls back. I tried to call Honda to report but they just tell me to call local Honda dealerships. Something needs to be done with this before my car breaks.

I left my car in the Fort Lauderdale airport parking garage for one week. When I came back from vacation the car started, pulled out of the spot and then refused to move. I had to have it towed for $700 all the way to my home in palm beach gardens. 52 miles at 7pm. This happened in July of 2023 and there is still no parts available to replace the faulty fuel pump.

I am writing to report a serious issue with the paint on my white pearl Honda HR-V. The roof paint began peeling in 2023, and I initially attempted a minor repair using a paint pen from AutoZone. However, the problem has worsened significantly over the past six months. Recently, I took the vehicle to Maaco for an estimate, and they quoted approximately $2,400 to repaint the roof and side panels. I also contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and they confirmed that I had purchased an extended warranty which expired in October 2024. After researching the issue, I discovered that paint peeling is a common and widely reported problem for white pearl Honda models. I spoke with both American Honda and the dealership on July 2025, and while the Honda representative acknowledged that they are receiving many similar complaints, they stated that the company is still investigating the root cause and does not currently offer compensation. They classified the issue as normal wear and tear. I keep my vehicle well maintained, and it is only 8 years old. I strongly believe this is a manufacturing defect, not a result of neglect or environmental wear. I would like to formally file a complaint and request that Honda take responsibility for this issue. Thank you for your time and attention. I can provide additional photographs, repair estimates, and additional documentation upon request.

I SEE ONLINE THAT THERE ARE PAINT PROBLEMS WITH THE 2018 HRV, FIT, & ACCORD. THE RECALL THAT I SAW WAS FOR A DIFFERENT COLOR THAN MY VEHICLE. WHAT I ALSO SAW WAS THAT THE MANUFACTURER PUT TOO THIN OF A CLEAR COAT ON THE VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT MY PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE...TREE SAP OR BIRD DROPPINGS, WHICH IS THE OUT THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THEM. GUESSING THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS TOLD THEM TO USE THIS TO DISALLOW CLAIMS. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT HAS DONE THIS BECAUSE OF BIRD DROPPINGS OR TREE SAP. I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE VEHICLE THAT A MAKER VOLUNTEERED TO FIX... THAT WAS A TOYOTA VEHICLE. The rear camera produces distorted images during and after rain, snow, dust or other road or atmospheric conditions. The defect in the camera's design creates significant safety risks because the driver cannot see obstacles, including people, behind the car when backing up. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police or insurance representative. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms (other than the distorted images) of the problem. Also, there does not appear to be a way to change the brightness of the video screen, which makes it difficult to see images at night.

Dangerous image quality of backup camera: The red arrow in the attached picture (taken at night and in light rain) points to the wheel of a vehicle. Looking only the camera's image, you would never know that it was there. Making matters worse, the display emits a very bright, white, low contrast image that blinds you. This prevents you from seeing anything in the side-view mirrors. While in REVERSE the brightness setting of the display has no effect, its always full brightness. The display cannot be turned off while in REVERSE. When backing up in the rain, you are only guessing where you are headed. Camera image in dry, daylight conditions is poor as well . It's been this way since I purchased the car in 2022. Back then, dealer said that it looked normal to them. I've backed into a car on one occasion doing only minimal damage.

On 8/10/2023, around 9:25 AM, at the parking lot of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, CA, I was pulling into a parking spot, moving very slowly. I was about to stop when the car suddenly took off in full speed, went over the concrete barrier toward hilly area covered with shrubs. That impact stopped the car, but half of my car was in the shrubs. It happened so fast that I didn't have a chance to break or anything. The car went into the shrub where nobody or no other car was around. Please see the attached photos. The bumper on the drive side is damaged and the car suffered some scratches and small broken parts. Prior to this incident, we experienced some minor incidents such as : - Car would not start at the first try and we had to try multiple times. We took the car to the dealer we purchased the vehicle and they replaced battery. Even after the replacement of the battery, it occurred couple more times. - Speaker announced to release the parking break when it was released and I was driving the car already. We took the car to the dealer and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything. - The window on the front driver side gets sticky sometimes if left overnight. We took the car to the dealer and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything. We took the car to the dealer again this morning (8/11/2023) and talked to the service representative. She looked at our record and we found out some of or complaints were not recorded. The contact stated that the dealer found that the electronic brake switch was turned on with no indication that it was on. The disc brake pads were also replaced since they were worn out.

Multiple times per week recently, the car will not turn over when starting the car, while all dash lights light up like a Christmas tree. There is no pattern when it just decides to act up…recently 2-3 times a week, in the past 2-3 times a month, it seems random. Sometimes, after it will not start and I leave it alone for some time I.e.: 30-60 minutes, and try to start it again, the car starts right up with no issue. This has left this female driver of this 2018 HR-V stranded numerous times. Several times it happened while driving, the car shuts off at low speed, and won’t start again. It has become a major concern that it can become a death trap. This car has just over 10k miles on it… it’s barely broken in….And with brand new battery just replaced !!!!!!

On March 11, 2025 I took my car to Gardena Honda for a fuel pump recall for my 2018 Honda HR-v ex. On September 17, 2025 I had a system malfunction where the doors were locking and unlocking the dashboard went black and a car symbol with doors opened appear on the dash, the car shut off and I tried to brake but they did not work, I hit a car in front of me and when the airbags did not deploy I hit my mouth on the steering wheel and knock out 3 of 4 teeth that I had work done on. A scan tool was put on my vehicle when I got it home and there was two codes showing B00D5 occupant classification sensor fault and U0416 invalid data received from vehicle dynamic control module. I came to this website because i wanted to know was there any other recalls and found out there was 3 on the make model and year of my vehicle. # 135 Vehicle Brake System, low pressure fuel pump, and the fuel pump inside the fuel tank

While driving my Honda HR-V under normal conditions around noon on Saturday on NC Highway 54, the vehicle suddenly illuminated multiple dashboard lights and began to decelerate despite pressing the accelerator. The steering became extremely hard to maneuver, the brakes did not respond, and I was unable to activate the hazard lights due to an electrical malfunction—putting my life and the lives of others in jeopardy. My car gave me no prior warning signs of this issue. It had been serviced at Autopark Honda Service Center on September 19, 2025, including a transmission service, and nothing abnormal (such as debris or metal) was noted or communicated to me. After the incident and I had my car towed to Autopark Honda, I was informed that the transmission had failed. I later learned of Honda Service Bulletin #21-047 (April 27, 2021) concerning premature CVT belt deterioration in 2016–2020 HR-V models. Despite this known issue, Honda has refused responsibility because my vehicle is about 10 months beyond the 7-year warranty extension. This sudden failure caused complete loss of power, steering, braking, and hazard functions, representing a serious safety risk that warrants investigation.

I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my vehicle. The car has exhibited repeated instances of unintended activation while parked and left untouched. Specifically, the entire electrical system—including the dashboard, infotainment, and other electronic components—powers on and off spontaneously without any user interaction. This behavior raises significant safety and reliability concerns, especially when the vehicle is unattended. I am requested for a thorough investigation into this issue to determine the root cause and to ensure that appropriate corrective measures are taken to prevent potential hazards. Honda service center identified the issue is caused by 'Body Control Module'. They even indicated that the fault is in the software and the unit and user has nothing to do with it and asked me to check with Honda company. When i asked the company they said no recalls for this VIN and asked me to file a complaint here. My car has driven only 36K miles and its like a brand new car still. This is not even my fault and its a big safety issue. I ended up paying $1400 for the whole thing since i am in need of a car right now for all the doctor appointments and i didn't even got a rental car while the repair is going on which is like 4 days. This costed me so much money and headache. Also i have seen the same issue reported online by many folks using Honda at that year. Please take the ticket forward as this is a major safety issue. Please help in recall and reimburse my money

While driving the car to work the instrument cluster LCD display began to glitch showing garbled information on the fuel as well as effecting the speedometer reading. Having inaccurate speedometer reading due to a faulty instrument cluster can put others at risk due to not knowing your exact speed. There were no indications of a problem prior to this incident. Upon discussion with several HRV owners and forums this issue is likely caused by cracked solder joints on the board for the instrument cluster. The leadfree solder used appears to fail causing connection issues for the pins on the board and erratic read outs and displays. I plan to have the dealer look at the vehicle shortly. This problem is known and reported prolifically on discussion boards. Honda has released several service notices internally related to this issue for CRVs and Civics, but no recalls and not for HRVs.

Every honda I have had, civic, accord, Hrv, have had issues with the driver side sun visor. It will not stay up and it makes seeing out the windshield an issue. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -YES. [XXX] Burbank, CA, intersection [XXX] and [XXX] [XXX] ) There was a huge rainfall this evening. I was heading east on [XXX] and was about to make a "U" going back opposite direction. Making sure there is no on going or opposite traffic, safely i made a "U" turn on a parking lot, the first parking spot..and some of a sudden i realised that my car was touched some obstacle. It was a street light pole but from that pole there was a supporting 45 degrees angle metal wire going across a parking spot! I was not able to see a metal wire because of a light reflection and working windshield wipers.! This metal wire went through my front of a car and cracked the front bumper, left fender i was not able to open my driver door. My speed by doing "U" turn was about 5 miles per hour.. I called to my insurance took a picture of an incident location they came up to me with an estimate $1.553.00... This is insane and might be definitely dangerous for motorcycles and scooters. I have all the pictures, and video as well. Thank you! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The differential broke. I was unable to accelerate on the road; it froze up. I had to pull over and couldn't drive it. I was just outside of the HOnda dealer when it happened. I took it to the Honda Dealer Service Center in MD and this was their diagnosis.I didn't take it anywhere else. There were no warnings except I heard rattling when I was at a lower speed the same afternoon about 3 hours earlier. Otherwise, I had just completed a 100k service literally 2 weeks beforehand at Honda Service and the Honda Service Center didn't report anything wrong with the car.

1. The dealership assembled a new engine and pulse control module. 2. 1st issue was the car wasn’t in safe condition to drive due to knocking noise. 2nd issue is that the pedal wasn’t working properly as had to pull over to the shoulder and then the car wouldn’t leave from a parked state, brake light was on, and engine overheating. 3rd issue got car back with a smoke/cigarette/burn odor and jittering / stuttering when put in a stopped state transitioning to a moving state. 3. Yes, Bill Page Honda in Falls Church. 4. Yes 5. No warning prior to failure 07/28/22: car experienced loud knocking noise upon being turned on and got it towed to dealership on 07/29/22. Dealership got a new engine for the 1st issue and I picked up the car in September 2022 but upon driving it for the first time since the 1st issue, experienced pedal not functioning to accelerate and engine overheating causing me to get car towed back to dealership on 09/20/22. 10/02/22 picked up the car from the dealership and I noticed a burn / smoke odor left on the car. Let me be clear that neither I nor anyone who has stepped foot in my vehicle smokes so this was quire alarming. Also, while driving it I noticed my car started to jerk / stutter / hesitate whenever it was in a non-moving position transitioning to a moving position. 10/10/22 I returned my car back to the dealership due to the 3rd issue regarding the odor and jittering / stuttering issue. 11/30/22 picked up the car as the dealership informed me the car was ready with the issues resolved, however upon getting the car back and driving it back home I experienced the same issues and they didn’t resolve the odor problem. Even after the fact of bringing it to the dealership for the past 4 months, more issues keep surfacing making it more and more dangerous to handle my vehicle and I’m not trustworthy of it nor my dealership that’s been attempting to resolve issues under my active car warranty.

I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 4,500 MILES IN IT IN MARCH 2019. I STARTED DRIVING IT IN MID APRIL ON HIGHWAY I 71, SINCE I HAVE TO COMMUTE TO MY WORK EVERYDAY FROM MILE 169 TO 119. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 14,000 AND HAD TO GET IT SERVICED AND THE TIRES WERE ROTATED TWO DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT WAS JULY 26TH 2019. I WAS DRIVING IN I 71 IN THE CENTRAL LANE WHEN THE SIGN OF LOW PRESSURE IN TIRES AND THEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR, I TRIED TO USE THE BREAKS WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE UNSTEADY. WITHOUT USING BREAKS, I MADE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT LANE AS BEST AS POSSIBLE AND WAITED UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED BY ITSELF. WHEN THE SPEED WAS SLOW ENOUGH, I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAIT UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. THIS WAS IN MILE 140.0 GOING SOUTH. AS SOON AS I PARKED TWO MORE CARS STOPPED IN ORDER TO FIGURE OUT IF I WAS OK. AND BOTH MENTIONED THAT MY TIRE FLEW AWAY AND HIT THEIR CARS, BUT DID NOT DAMAGE THEM. WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT I WAS MISSING THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE (PASSENGER SIDE) TIRE COMPLETELY BUT THE RIM WAS INTACT SINCE PART OF THE RUBBER OF THE TIRE REMAINED. TIRE WAS MICHELIN RADIAL X TUBELESS M+S 215/55R17. I MADE A COMPLAINT TO MICHELIN WHICH ONLY WERE WILLING TO PAY 75% FOR A NEW TIRE. MY FINAL DECISION WAS TO CHANGE ALL THE TIRES AND SWITCH TO GOODYEAR BRAND SINCE MICHELIN COULD NOT WARRANTY THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AND WILL NOT ASSURE THAT THE OTHER 3 TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE

ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE I TOOK MY FAMILY (WIFE AND KIDS) ON A WEEKEND TRIP. IT WAS ABOUT AN 8-HOUR DRIVE THERE AND 8 HOURS BACK. ABOUT 3 HOURS INTO THE TRIP MY LEFT LEG STARTED ACHING WHERE IT MEETS THE SEAT CUSHION. I MADE MENTION OF IT TO MY WIFE AND DECIDED TO PUSH ON WITH OUR JOURNEY. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE PAIN HAD RADIATED INTO MY LEFT HIP, AND LOWER BACK. LUCKILY I HAD A PILLOW IN THE CAR THAT WAS BROUGHT FOR THE KIDS TO LEAN ON AS THEY USUALLY NAP ON THESE LONG TRIPS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER AND HONDA CORPORATE. CORPORATE WANTS A REPAIR ESTIMATE TO MOVE FORWARD, AND THE DEALER WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ONE BECAUSE AFTER A LENGTHY TEST WITH ANOTHER HR-V IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE ISSUE EXISTS IN ALL HR-V MODELS AND THEREFORE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT/ISSUE. THIS PUTS ME BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE. I WISH I COULD DO WHAT OTHERS HAVE AND JUST TRADE THIS THING IN LEAVING HONDA AND LOOKING AT IT AS THE WORST DECISION I EVER MADE AND MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE, BUT I DO NOT HAVE THAT OPTION AT THE MOMENT.

I WAS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH A BRAND NEW LEASE I ACQUIRED 3 MONTHS AGO. THE SENORS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. I PHONED HONDA AROUND 10 AM AND AFTER BEING TRANSFERRED SEVERAL TIMES WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ACCOMMODATE ME UNTIL THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WHICH WAS UNDERSTANDABLE. 3 DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD RODENTS CHEWED THROUGH MY WIRES IN THE ENGINE HARNESS AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY MY 3-MONTH-OLD WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I WAS UNAWARE THAT HONDA WRAPS ALL OF ITS WIRES WITH A SOY-BASED PRODUCT THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS BUT HONDA WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE NOR WILL THEY RE-WRAP THE WIRES WITH A REPELLANT THAT THEY SELL UNLESS YOU PURCHASE IT FIRST.
