The rear window glass suddenly broke with a huge sound. The glass brokes to pieces completely. No warning light was activated. It happened 10 minutes ago. I haven't reported to my insurance or dealer. I used defrost function. Before this accident happened, I smelled a burning flavor a little. Also, the range dropped almost 10 miles over a 2 mile distance. I am not sure if those phenomena relate or not.

The back rearview windshield shattered. I got into my parked car in the morning, turned it on and heard a pop sound. I looked back and saw a hole in the windshield, the glass fell inside the truck in pieces. I looked around to see if something dropped to crack it, but there was nothing. The pieces of the windshield kept falling in the trunk and the hole got bigger as time went on.

The rear windshield exploded while driving. I briefly turned on our defrosters and then the air before that. It is available for inspection upon request. Our safety was put at risk as the glass exploded into the car. The problem is one of the first things that pops up if you search honda hrv windshield explode. My vehicle was last inspected on June 14,2025. There were no warning signs.

I was driving my [XXX] son to daycare and my back window of the hatch shattered. I was completely shocked and had no idea what happened, so I googled to see if there have been issues with my specific car and found the following: "The rear windows of some 2023 Honda HR-Vs are shattering due to a manufacturing defect with the rear defroster. Honda is replacing the windows through a voluntary product update campaign, but has not issued a safety recall. Honda says the problem is due to a manufacturing defect that allows the sealer used to secure the rear glass on some HR-Vs to come in contact with the defroster’s heating elements. Over time, this weakens the glass as the defroster creates a “hot spot.” But the automaker advises owners to continue using the rear defroster as needed." This is a major issue to mine and my sons risk. My son was in his car seat facing the window as it shattered. There was glass everywhere. I called Honda at Honda Costa Mesa in Costa Mesa, CA and they said that my VIN does not have that recall and that I could come in "to receive a quote for the repair" and that it typically takes 2-3 weeks for the window to come in and they will not provide a rental car. They were extremely unhappy and not sympathetic to the situation. I called my insurance (Geico) and filed a claim for Safelite to make the repair. While leaving the driveway for work, without any warning the rear windshield shattered. Extremely loud almost like a gunshot. I was driving approximately 10 miles an hour. Upon research by my husband it appears there are several complaints of this happening to this make and model.
May 23, 2024
My rear windshield suddenly shattered while the car was idling. I this happened because I was using the defrost system, as from my understanding several 2023 HRVs have had their rear windshields shatter from using the defrost system. The windshield "popped" and left a sizeable hole in the corner. As I drove home, the shattered glass fell into my trunk and possibly left pieces of glass on the road. I was worried that my passengers in the rear seats would have glass showered on them. The windshield is available for inspection upon request. I have not yet been able to take it anywhere to be inspected. There were no warnings before the windshield shattered.

My rear window shattered after prolonged use of the rear defroster. It was raining in California very heavily in January 2024. I had been using my rear defroster for a long period of time. On [XXX], I got into my car and as soon as I closed the door the windshield shattered and sprayed glass on the inside of my car and all over my driveway. Woke up in the morning and discovered that my rear windshield had randomly shattered at some point during the night while it was parked. At first thought it was vandalism, but there was no specific point of impact anywhere on my windshield and it was not indented at all. If I was driving my vehicle when this occurred, it absolutely could've resulted in sudden shock and caused an accident. There was nothing wrong with my windshield in the days leading up to this.

The rear window exploded while parked at a school. I put on the rear defrost while driving to the school and when I parked and shut off the car, that's when we heard the explosion. There was no external impact to the car. I've seen several reports of other 2023 HRV owners with the same problem. The car has not been inspected, but I called my Honda Service Center and they referred me to Car Tech who repairs the windshields. The representative was unable to tell me if Honda would cover the repair. There were no warning lamps, messages or other alert to a potential problem.

I was driving to work in my 2023 HR-V on a main highway this morning, (5-15-2024) and I heard a pop sound. I looked in my rear view mirror and my back windshield was shattered. I have called my local dealer, White Plains Honda and left a message. And as of yet have not heard back. There was no warning lights or signs anything was wrong. I did see on the evening news that this is an on going issue with HR-V's. But no recall has been put out.

While I was driving back from work on January 31, 2023 the rear windshield of my car exploded for no apparent reason. The noise was so loud that flinched. If there was a car was in front of me I would have caused an accident. The windshield shattered and if I had children or anyone in the back seat they would have pieces of glasses on the back of their heads. I was thankful that I did not have any broken glasses on the back of my head. I dropped the car off at a Honda dealership on January 31 st. I still do not have a car, nor will they give me a loaner to get to work. They were no warning messages that alerted me prior to the incident. I brought the car new and it's only a year old. I believe this is a defect on Honda's manufacturing. I hope no one get hurts by this, because I know it's causing me a lot of inconveniences.

Me and my grandkids had a scary experience sitting in my 2023 Honda HRV in parking lot with the vehicle off. The back window exploded around the perimeter. The window started making a crackling sound then completely shattered. I have owned the vehicle for just about a year. I took the car to the dealership in regards to this issue and spoke with a manager who approved repairing the window and having an electrical inspection. He advised the window would be ordered and to check back in a few days for repair and inspection. When I reached back out to the dealership I was advised by a tech that the rear glass had NOT been ordered. The rear glass has now been ordered, however, now I'm being told that the glass is on backorder with 149 orders before me. When I asked tech how long it would take to get repaired he didn't have an answer and told me to check every week. In the mean time I asked if the inspection can be done; I'm still pending getting an appointment for the electrical inspection.
Feb 18, 2025
The Back window blew up and dispersed glass at least 5 ft into my driveway while I was standing behind it. It was very scary and frightening. Fortunately, I did not get hit with any debris. The windows continued to make a crackling sound for several minutes. I had just got a safety recall a few days before and was planning on taking it in but the notification should have been much sooner and marked urgent, for example: Do not drive your car, it may blow up. When I researched, I can see that the issue was known as early as Jan 2024 and I was just notified in September 2024. Also, Honda is not offering loners for the fix even though we have to wait for the window to come in and have no transportation. They should be very accommodating considering the situation - people could really get hurt.

After a 20 minute drive back to house, a smell of something burning became present inside the car. Rolled windows down to let smoke filled cabin escape. Upon arrival inside the garage and after parking car. As I was exiting car, the rear window exploded with my daughter a few feet from back of car. It was loud and recorded on video. Back of window was hot to touch. Honda dealer was quick to blame an impact from a foreign object, along with outside smell of fire entering the cabin while driving to explain away the damages. Also, the window being hot was blamed on a hot sun. Reached out to Honda, and I put in complaint. 3 days later, Honda dealer has been approved to fix problem. No warning lights. Just a strong smell of an electrical short that needs to be found. Glass was everywhere.

Rear windshield exploded. Windshield was hot after the explosion. Defroster was off.
Nov 28, 2023
On July 22, 2023, I was pulling out of a parking spot when the back window/windshield exploded without cause. There were no objects nearby or any other cause for the problem. The only other possible cause would've been the pneumatics failing to protect the glass or the rear defrost heating the glass until it exploded. I took the car to the dealership (Coggin Honda Orlando, 11051 S Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL 32837) and they refused to fix it under the warranty of the vehicle, which at the time was just over 10K miles and less than 6 months of ownership. A quick google search shows at least dozens of reports of the same issue happening to other owners. This is very dangerous because it can injure a backseat passenger. I was forced to pay for the repair with my Insurance for something that Honda should acknowledge as a problem and provide a recall.

Back in mid January, there was a winter storm in our area that hit overnight. Mild snow, but predominantly ice. Heading into work the next morning, I needed to use my defroster (both front and rear) to allow visibility with my windshields. I was able the clear the ice off my window and arrived safely to work. 8 hours later I headed home and again there was still some ice on my rear-windshield which prompted the use of my rear defroster. On my way home (less than 15mins from work) I did not notice any changes in visibility. Once I arrived home, I discovered that my entire rear-windshield was uniformly shattered, still intact, but shattered. Seems as though my window shattered sometime during the work day. The next day I went to my dealership as my car is still under warranty and had only been purchased less than 15 months prior. The service advisor informed me there was nothing they could do for me. Informed them of my research, as I was not the only 2023 Honda HR-V with this issue and stated that this was something that needed to be addressed by them or American Honda. At the start of February I got a response from the service advisor that my case was approved at the district level, but there were no windows available. Unrelated to the window, I was in a separate accident which prompted removal of my broken window to fix the body. The repairs were completed within two weeks and was released with crash-wrap hoping I could immediately transfer it over to Honda, but there still was no window available. I reached out to American Honda hoping for some assistance and still have no results. While i now get weekly updates on status, there is no guarantee of product delivery. It is now end of April, I have been without a window since end of February (broken window since mid-January). While my case is classified as critical, I still have no answers as to when I can/will have a window.

I used remote start to start my 2023 HR-V SPORT, and walked outside about 5 minutes later to find the rear windshield completely shattered. I thought something may have hit the glass, but I was backed into my driveway close to the garage door, and it was mid-morning so I didn't suspect a break-in attempt, as there was absolutely nothing in the car to steal. After doing some research online, I found all the reports of the Rear Defrost malfunction being reported. I have been setting the A/C to preheat the vehicle in the mornings due to the recent cold snap, so I double checked my settings, and they were indeed set the same, with the Rear Defrost set ON. I called my local Honda Service Dept. today and the person on the phone acted surprised, and claimed to have never heard of this issue. I am still waiting on a call back from the actual Service Department to take the car in. We are currently now without transportation, and no answers from Honda.

The back windscreen of my 2023 Honda HRV spontaneously exploded causing an 8-inch diameter hole on the left side of the glass (when looking at it from the back). The vehicle was parked with engine off and was being filled with gasoline at a gas station. When the back hatch was opened to remove a bag (covered in broken glass) most of the remaining windscreen fell in to the back of the vehicle when the hatch was shut. The vehicle was not involved in an accident/collision and was not hit by any object. The rear window heater had been turned on in the previous minutes. Honda do not have a recall for this issue but they have issued a dealer communication and are investigating the general issue. This does seem to be a common issue according to Honda forums.

Outside temperature in the 70s had recently just rained and rear window was foggy. I turned on the rear defogger after about two minutes or so started smelling something burning thought it was car exhaust. I parked the car and the rear window shattered. There was a hole the size of a baseball, and when I went out to look, everything fell into the trunk area, Honda claims this is not a warranty issue and it’s not covered

I had my car parked at my place of work and the rear windsheld exploded and shattered by itself. The car was not vandalized, touched by an object/being, or had an attempt break in. This all happened after use of the rear windshield defrost component. Luckily I was not driving or in the car when this happened. I brought the car to my nearest dealership and informed them on what happened. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership and also, the police. All confirmed that it was not done by an object/being. There were no warnings or messages that were brought to my attention about this happening or could happen. Now it has to get replaced!

We have since become aware that Honda is aware of the exploding rear window phenomenon caused by the heating coil concentration in one area, creating a hot spot and weakening the glass. My 2023 Honda HR-V is now at the dealership where we purchased it for repair and was told today that Honda will cover the cost. However, the rear window for our vehicle is on back order (I wonder why). There was no warning just a loud instantaneous explosion and glass flying.

The contact stated that hours later, the contact attempted to start the vehicle with several messages displayed on the instrument panel. After several failed attempts, the contact attempted to jumpstart the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer where the contact was later informed that rodents had chewed on the wiring harnesses due to the wiring harnesses being made with soy-based, eco-friendly materials. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty and that the repair would be performed out-of-pocket. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

" I purchased a brand new 2023 Honda HRV from your facility and I'm already having problems with it. My issue is that anytime I use the rear defroster, after it cools, it causes the Paneling and Side view mirrors to brutally crack and warp. Online I saw others have the same exact issue. It starts with metal warping, every time, and ends in the back window being blown out. I don't understand why there's not a recall for this apparent issue. I went on the internet and saw that many others had the exact same issue, but no recall was set into play. This has been an ongoing issue for Honda since 2019 in their HRV line; or at least, this is where the complaints began. I recently got a recall in the mail, stating something about a seatbelt, but not for the more important Defroster issue. What can or should I do about this?" This was an email I sent to a Honda Customer service agent at the dealership I bought it from, after also contacting Customer Service by phone. To date, there have been ZERO attempts to resolve my concerns. I have not received any phone calls or emails back to even let me know they cared. Currently, I refuse to use my rear defroster on this model EVER, for fear that my rear window will explode while driving.

While at the gym one evening on 1/3, I came back to my car and noticed a shattered rear windshield. Initially my thoughts were 'did my car get broken into?' however, nothing was missing and my gym is located in a fairly safe part of town. Also, this occurred early evening, one of the busiest times at the gym and an unlikely time for a break in. I notified the police, my insurance company, and the gym. The police reviewed footage of the parking lot and didn't see anything that suggested a break it. Shortly thereafter, I became aware of many HRV owners experiencing 'spontaneous' shattering of the rear windshield. The situation was beginning to make more sense. I believe that I am a victim of this defect.

The rear window of my one year old 2023 HrV suddenly shattered, thankfully while vehicle was parked. No impact to glass or reasoning, I filed an incident report with police out of concern, they had never seen anything like it but stated it was not due to any object impact. This happened right on Christmas weekend, leaving me without a safe car to drive which ruined some of plans and dealership was unable to assist but associate did mention she’s seen another customer with same issue and there are many similar instances online. I could’ve been driving or had my boy in the backseat when this happened. There seems to be some issue with the pressure points and placement of the window, frightening this can happen again. No warning lights triggered for this particular scenario. Please issue recall.

While I was driving the rear window suddenly shattered creating a loud thud. Chunks of shattering glass fell into the back section of the car. No foreign object hit the car. This was just a spontaneous event. We often transport our grand children and it is possible that they could have been seriously injured if they would have been in the car at the time. The car is unsafe to drive at this time due to shards of glass still loose. I plan to contact the local Honda dealership and will request a representative to come inspect the damage. Our HRV is still under warranty.

In the morning of December 31, 2024, I got into my 2023 Honda HRV and as I turned on the ignition, I was shocked by the shattering sound of glass at the rear of the vehicle. To my horror, it was the rear windshield that had shattered to smithereens. I was terribly upset by this incident and while thinking of my next action, I learned through Google that it was due to a manufacturing defect with the 2023 Honda HRV model. Yet, I had not been notified by the Honda of any recall in regard to this defect. I took the car to the nearest Honda dealership where they plastered the rear of my car with a thin plastic and promised to call me as soon as they got the necessary parts. The incident could have caused serious physical and emotional injuries if I had passengers in the rear seats of the car. Even, all alone, I was emotionally traumatized by the incident.

Dear Sir/Madam While driving on [XXX] the message came on the screen 12 volt battery charging system problem. Do not drive. Time 10.54AM. The noise would start in the engine compartment while accelerating, then a smell entered the cabin of the car. I pulled over one mile after at a nearby service area and when I opened up the hood i have discovered a loose belt and a loose pulley. I towed the car to the [XXX] Honda in Reading, MA. The service didn't do much to investigate the issue and instigated that because I did not do an oil change at Honda Dealer they cannot cover the malfunction by warranty until Honda Corp approves it. I did my own investigation and found a broken off bolt laying in the bottom of the engine cover. I showed the discovery to them and then they voided a 240$ diagnostics charge. Then the real mechanic showed up by accident, saw the bolt and said that it did not surprise him at all. I think that the bolt pulleys bolts were overtightened and over the time they snap loose. Big issue is present for a new model 2023 Honda HR-V and later editions possibly. Thank You [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

TIRES
2 complaints
I am writing to report a serious tire failure incident involving a Hankook tire that came with my brand-new 2023 Honda HR-V. While driving recently — with approximately 16,500 miles on the vehicle — the rear tire suddenly blew out without any prior warning. Fortunately, I was able to maintain control and safely stop the vehicle without harm to myself or others. There were no signs or alerts from the vehicle’s tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) before or during the blowout. Strangely, the TPMS warning light only came on after I replaced the damaged tire with the spare, which raises concerns about the effectiveness or response delay of the TPMS. I would like to highlight: Tire size : 215/60R17 •The tire had no visible damage or issues before the blowout, and I follow routine servicing through my dealership. •As a result of the incident, the rear wheel drum has a very minor bend. •Unfortunately, the damaged tire is no longer in my possession ( I have changed it), but I do have clear photographs taken immediately after the incident, which I can share upon request. •The issue has not yet been evaluated by a dealer or third party, but I am open to doing so if needed. This unexpected failure poses a significant safety concern, and I believe it deserves further investigation to ensure no broader defect or issue exists.

The steering wheel will automatically jerk to the left and right while driving, particularly in cold weather. I had at first thought this was the lane assist, however I turned it off and the it was still happening. While driving on the highway it’s as if the steering wheel is making small motions left and right on its own as I am trying to keep a straight path on the road. It has not put me at any direct safety risks but it is definitely a nuisance and makes the driving experience very annoying. I have not yet taken it to a dealership to be duplicated or inspected, however I have read that there have been multiple reports made to NHTSA about this same issue. There were no warning lamps or messages associated with this issue.

Every time I am driving dusk or night, I am being flashed by oncoming drivers as if I have my high beams on. Every time this happens I am using low beams. I am not usually prepared for their brights and it is difficult on my eyes. I have only had the car since November, but it has happened ever time I drive at night. I am sure it is annoying for the oncoming traffic as well, if they think I have my brights on.

Purchased HRV new and at approximately 3900 miles all warning system lights starting flashing while I was driving. Took car home and checked oil and there was NONE at all. Put oil in and took to dealership who found the Honda manufacturer had not installed the oil filter properly and the car had sprayed oil across the undercarriage of the car while I was on the interstate. If the car had locked up while driving 70 mph due to no oil, my father, brother, and I would have been killed and may have injured/killed someone else. Since getting oil filter installed correctly and oil in the car, the Collision and lane departure warnings continue to display periodically at the initial starting of the car saying the those systems have issues and to see the dealership. I have taken car to the dealership 3 times and once they connected it to a diagnostic machine which said "I had a code" and those codes were supposedly corrected, but the same warnings remain. It is not reproduceable and I have not been able to capture a pic of the occurrance. I believe running out of oil has damaged the warning systems and needs to be replaced or Honda should provide me a new car for my current car (10,700 miles).

Almost all advanced safety features have stopped working including the ones selected and still others more such as lane keep assist, parking collision warning etc.
Apr 29, 2024
The warning signs popped up with those 2 safety features and said “see your dealer”, I took to the dealer and there was “nothing wrong”. On the dashboard warnings started to flash “Brake” with nothing in it view and has ATTEMPTED to even brake by itself with nothing in front of it or anything that could affect it. I then still had the 2 warning safety features pop up also so I took to the dealer for a second time and they said there was a problem with the battery and replaced it under warranty. The car was brand new and I had it for 6 months. After battery replacement that same week the car shut off TWICE by itself. The 6 months of owning the vehicle it has NEVER done that mind you I’ve waited about 30 minutes a day for my daughter in the school pickup line and it has never once turned off. I took to the dealer and they said “nothing” was wrong with it. They said the vehicle kept coming out as cleared.

The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss. A police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The contact did not receive medical attention on the day of the collision. However, the contact later transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for chest and abdominal pain. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The front passenger belt stop latching. I called the dealer. The part was on backorder. I have an appointment on Tuesday 1/23/24 to fix the front buckle. I also told them when riding in the car the middle back seat belt dings like someone is back there. There is no one in the car. Now the back middle seat has a green box saying that someone is latched in the buckle. Again, there is no one in the back seat. I cannot safely put my kids in this car. The only warning that the front buckle gave was the seat belt was not latched. It would not hook on so my oldest would have to sit in the back seat.

While driving, the vehicle experienced a serious steering malfunction. The right front wheel does not respond properly to steering input, while the left wheel responds normally, resulting in uneven steering and loss of directional control. The issue occurred without warning and created an immediate safety risk, especially during turns and lane changes. The vehicle became difficult to control and unsafe to operate. The problem has occurred more than once and is not consistent with normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this age and mileage. A Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and recommended replacement of the complete steering rack, including inner tie rods, boots, and clamps. The dealership also recommended replacement of the right drive axle due to a damaged outer joint. No warning lights or dashboard messages appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle required inspection and repair due to the safety risk.

In November 2022, before I even drove off the lot, when I noticed and asked about a rattling noise coming from the passenger-side front window, I was told it was normal because it’s a brand-new car. Within a few hundred miles, I began to experience issues with the car, felt the electrical problems and car felt shaky and unstable. As this continued, I’ve received a reminder from Honda about the three years of service and to schedule an appointment with a certified dealer. And I did, this is also when brought up the fact that I feel and experiences issues with the car, but it remained ignored. Fast-forward to Spring 2023, issues worsen, while driving with a minor in a rear-facing car seat, I heard a loud noise that sounded like gunfire. It took a moment to realize that the rear windshield had suddenly shattered without a warning. This incident caused severe emotional distress, especially given the presence of a minor child in the vehicle. Since May 2023, the certified dealer failed to resolve the ongoing and swishing wind noise coming from the rear. This left us and our child with no safe, no reliable transportation on forward. Then, the vehicle began to turn off its monitors and exhibit more electrical malfunctions, along with engine problems. I continued bringing the vehicle in and its complimentary services and routine maintenance, reporting the problems each time, but nothing was ever resolved. Throughout the years the issues continue to worsen. Most recently, the front windshield cracked spontaneously, and within a few weeks again heard the gunfire, at that time around the sunroof, exploded suddenly and shattered without any external impact or warning. That day I’ve re-routed from and to the local dealer, slowly with the hazard lights as the shattered glass began to spread. Same day the dealer accepted the vehicle, for warranty repairs, service, further complimentary inspection that revealed even more issues. But soon after this dealer refused... [see attached]

The contact stated the passenger front side bumper, the grill, and part of the passenger side quarter panel had been crushed by the crash. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. No injuries were reported. The contact stated that she drove the vehicle off of the highway, but had to stop due to multiple warnings illuminated on the instrument cluster including a "do not drive" warning. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The insurance provider declared the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

It has been 6 times that we have needed to jump start the car. The time that i start it before it actually needs a jump you notice the screen and ac take a minute or two to turn on after you have already turned on the car. Today it started fine and the second time it needed a jump start. I contacted AAA the first time it happened, they checked the battery at the dealer and everything looked great on the dealers end. They mentioned to record any mishaps. My friend who has a 2023 Honda H-RV Sport has reported that she is experiencing similar problems where her car also needs a jump start. Car was bought in November/December 2022. Honda was experiencing supply chain issues so had to wait to get a new 2023 model. Around November 2023, the rear windshield glass exploted and shuttered. At first I was told by Honda that they have never heard of that issue; but when I told them that I went to Google and the same situation is happening all over USA, then they said, yes, we know about the problem on this model. They fixed at no cost to me and they provided a rental car as well. I told them that prior to the explosion there was a strong burning smell - later they told me there was probably fumes leaking from the rear windshield glass that was about to explode. In addition, this new car has had a recall (something about the driver's safety belt) and I also mentioned that the steering wheel makes a noise when it goes left or right... the steering wheel feel heavy too. I was then told that that is another issue that certain Honda models are also experiencing. To repair that it will take 6 months for the replacement part to come from Asia so they were not sure if I was able to just keep driving the car (safely) after I made the decision for them to order the part OR I needed to leave my car in their dealer for the length of time until the part arrived. Too many things are happening with the new car... I just want to get a replacement vehicle.

During a short drip in August 2023 was the first time I noticed the steering "freezing" on the highway and jolting when I tried to control it. I had to use considerable force to hold and direct the steering throughout the trip and back. Still, on the trip, it sometimes felt as if the vehicle was floating and the steering had no grip. It was such a risky and exhausting trip for me because of this problem. On November 30th, 2023, I was on the highway again and experienced it. The steering felt stiff and at times, the front wheels felt like they were being magnetically pulled away in a different direction. I felt so unsafe with other fast-moving vehicles on every side as I struggled to keep the steering aligned. I had to use a good amount of force to grip and direct the steering and found myself praying for safety as I drove. It was certainly hazardous as it could endanger my life and those of others. I called the dealership to lay a complaint. They asked me to bring the car over to them, but I am in a different location and frightened to drive the car for hours to them and then more hours from there back to my base. I asked if I could take it to a nearby dealership but was told I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for diagnostics. If they could direct me to a nearby dealership to run diagnostics for free, I would be willing to do that. There have not been warning signs indicated by the vehicle so far. I got this car in March and it has less than 3000 miles on it. I don't know what to do. I feel as if I've made a mistake purchasing it.

I turned the corner into a parking space at a local business. When I was turning into the parking space, my foot was hovering over the left floor peddle (the break). All of a sudden, the vehicle lunged forward while my foot was still hovering over the break. During the incident, my foot did not touch the gas pedal when the car was accelerating towards the store window. I quickly firmly stepped on the brake when the car began to accelerate. The car went over the concrete parking stop, onto the sidewalk, crashing into the windows of the establishment. I nor any of the other patrons of the establishment were injured. Also to be noted, neither the forward collision, parking collision or automatic emergency breaking took effect. Police arrived on scene. A report was made. After the incident, the vehicle was towed away to a local Honda dealer in order for the vehicle to be assessed.
