1. 1995 HONDA ODYSSEY OCCASIONALLY STALLED BUT WOULD START AGAIN. 2. MOLTEN SOLDER CAME OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH AND FELL ON DRIVER'S FOOT. 3. PAIN AND SURPRISE NEARLY CAUSED ACCIDENT. 4. CAR STALLED AND WOULD START BUT STOP IMMEDIATELY WHEN KEY WAS RELEASED FROM "START" POSITION. 5. AM CURRENTLY REPLACING IGNITION SWITCH WHICH WAS THE SOURCE OF HOT METAL. *TR

VEHICLE, 1995 HONDA ODYSSEY, RANDOMLY AND SUDDENLY STALLED--ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT AND DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART, THEN WOULD START BUT IMMEDIATELY QUIT WHEN IGNITION KEY WAS RELEASED FROM START POSITION. ALSO, DASH LIGHTS BEHAVED ABNORMALLY WHEN TRYING TO RESTART-- THEY ALL BLINKED TOGETHER IN RANDOM FASHION, OR TOGETHER DIMMED AND WENT OUT, OR SIMPLY WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL. THIS STALL, OR FAILURE TO START AND RUN, HAS OCCURRED WHETHER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WARM AND RUNNING FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE, OR HAS BEEN PARKED AND COLD OVERNIGHT. THIS RANDOM STALL HAS NOW HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGH SPEED HEAVY TRAFFIC. BUT FOR A FORTUNATE OPENING AND QUICK MANEUVER TO A SAFETY LANE, WE AND PROBABLY OTHER MOTORISTS WOULD HAVE CRASHED, BURNED AND DIED. WE ARE NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT WITH TRAGIC RESULTS. WE HAVE JUST LEARNED THERE HAVE BEEN SEPARATE GOVERNMENT ORDERED RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM YEARS AGO IN AUSTRALIA AND IN CANADA. WHERE HAS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BEEN? PROBLEM RETURNED IN A FEW WEEKS AND REPEATED VISITS TO DEALER RESULTED IN SAME REMEDY. EVENTUALLY, DEALER ADVISED REPLACEMENT OF OUT-OF-WARRANTY ACCUMULATOR FOR $498.98. 1995 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 56,000 MILES. ABS LIGHT WENT ON INTERMITENTLY. TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA DEALER. WAS TOLD THERE IS A LEAK ON MODULATOR AND ACCUMULATOR. WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE MODULATOR ACCUMULATOR AT $1365. THIS HAS ACCOUNTED FOR OVER 20% OF THE COMPLAINS ON 1995 HONDA ODYSSEY ON NHTSA SITE. THERE WAS ALSO A SIMILAR DEFECT INVESTIGATION ON 1995 HONDA ACORD ABS. CALL FOR AN DEFECT INVESTIGATION ON HONDA ODESSEY.

FIRST PURCHASED FOUR PEPBOY TIRES (SE P205/65R15) ON 05-17-2002, WITH A 80,000 MILE WARRANTY. ON 03-29-2004, WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES ON THE TIRES, THE TOP LAYER OF RUBBER LIFTED FROM THE TIRE AND PEELED OFF, ALMOST CREATING AN ACCIDENT. 6,000 MILES LATER, THE OTHER TIRES BEGAN TO BUBBLE LIKE THE FIRST AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. TODAY, 02-27-2006 WITH REPLACED TIRES 30,000 MILES ON THEM, THE FIRST TIRE IS STARTING TO BUBBLE AND SEPARATE. I BELIEVE THESE TIRES ARE INTENTIONALLY MADE TO ONLY WITHSTAND ABOUT THIRTY-THOUSAND MILES OF WEAR AND THEY BEGIN TO SEPARATE, WHICH CAN CREATE A FATAL ACCIDENT. THESE TIRES PEPBOYS "FUTURA PLUS TOUR SE," WITH THE 80,000 MILE WARRANTY NEED TO BE RECALLED AND PEPBOYS BE FINED FOR FALSE ADVERTISING AND CREATING A DANGEROUS TIRE. WHILE TRAVELING 80 MPH ON INT 95 BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND BALTIMORE RIGHT LOWER BALL JOINT FAILED. THIS RESULTED IN THE ENTIRE WHEEL ASSEMBLY, INCLUDING THE AXLE TO COME OUT AND FOLD UNDER THE CAR, CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR HOME AT AROUND 20 MPH IN A SPEED BUMP AREA. I SUDDENLY BECAME AWARE OF A STRONG BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE CAR. I SLOWED, PULLED OVER AND REALIZED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING. SECONDS LATER AN EXPLOSIVE SOUND ERUPTED. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATED. IT COLLIDED WITH AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD, BROKE THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR MOUNT AND THREW PLASTIC CHUNKS AROUND THE CAR. SOME PLASTIC STRUCK ME. IT TOOK A FEW MINUTES FOR THE POWDERY SMOKE TO DIMINISH. ON INSPECTION I FOUND DAMAGE TO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR AND TO THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NOBODY BESIDES MYSELF WAS IN THE CAR, FORTUNATELY. THERE WAS ONLY A HAT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER TAKING SOME PHONE PICTURES I TURNED THE CAR AROUND, DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED.

WE TURNED ON THE IGNITION TO WARM THE ENGINE A BIT AT ABOUT 9:50 ON THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, AUGUST 6, 2015. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG COMPLETELY EXPLODED. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION, IT WAS PARKED, SO THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. WE SUPPOSE THAT IT MUST BE DEFECTIVE. THE SHEER FORCE OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT RESULTED IN A LARGE, CIRCULAR CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD, WITH SMALLER HAIRLINE FRACTURES. FRAGMENTS OF BLACK PLASTIC WERE PROPELLED THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. A STRONG SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC ENSUED AND FILLED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. WE WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY INSPECTED, AS WE FEAR THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG MIGHT ALSO BE DEFECTIVE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE HONDA DEALERSHIP OUR INSURANCE COMPANY DIRECTED US TO WILL NOT BE OPEN UNTIL TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING SITUATION. THANKFULLY, WE WERE NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, AND SO NOBODY SUFFERED PERSONAL INJURY - BUT THIS AIRBAG MALFUNCTION MIGHT WELL HAVE CAUSED WOUNDS FROM THE FLYING MATERIALS AND SHARDS OF PLASTIC, AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT - PERHAPS WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE INVOLVED - OR SEVERE INJURY, POSSIBLY EVEN DEATH. THOUGH WE FEEL GRATEFUL TO HAVE AVOIDED THE WORST, WE ARE STILL WITHOUT A VEHICLE DUE TO A MECHANICAL DEFECT NOT CAUSED BY US.

1995 HONDA ODYSSEY : IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM: I WROTE HONDA MOTORS AND ADVISED THEM THAT MY HONDA DEALER BELIEVES I HAVE AN IGNITION SWITCH THAT SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NO 02V120000 DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE. I RECEIVED A LETTER BACK FROM HONDA ON MAY 20, 2003 STATING THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND "WE WILL BE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE". DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE OF MY IGNITION SWITCH BEING THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN YOUR RECALL CAMPAIGN, I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE ME THE $170.63 THAT I PERSONALLY SPENT TO REPLACE MY FAULTY SWITCH. I HAVE THE OLD PART AND THE CONTACTS ON THE SWITCH ARE MELTED. THE ENGINE STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. I HAVE THE OLD PART AS PROOF OF THE INCIDENT AND WOULD BE WILLING TO MAIL IT TO YOU FOR ANALYSIS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE IGNITION SWITCH, TALKING WITH MY HONDA SERVICE MECHANIC AND READING YOUR RECALL BULLETIN, I BELIEVE YOU WILL AGREE THAT MY IGNITION SWITCH SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. AS OF THIS LETTER, I HAVE SPENT $3,388.30 ON MY HONDA IN REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE COST. I'M NOT ASKING HONDA TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NORMAL REPAIRS; HOWEVER, I AM ASKING THEM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS THAT ARE PERHAPS MFG. DEFECTS THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH DUE TO THE PARTS FAILURE. THE VERY FACT THAT A RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS IMPLEMENTED TELL ME THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT PROBLEMS EXISTS. I ONLY WANT MY SWITCH TO BE EXAMINED AND A FAIR DETERMINATION MADE. I KNOW THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR 1997 HONDA'S AND MY HONDA IS A 1995; HOWEVER, I PURCHASED IT USED AND THE ORIGINAL SWITCH COULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN 1997 WITH THE RECALLED IGNITION SWITCH. THE AIRBAG SRS CONTROL UNIT FAILED. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT NOTIFIED US OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE UNIT; THE TOTAL COST WAS $666.95. THE CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD AND MANY OWNERS WOULD NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE UNIT. NO WARRANTY COVERAGE EXTENDS TO SAFETY EQUIPMENT AS A LENGTHY TEN YEAR WARRANTY COVERS POLLUTION SYSTEMS. 1) ABS SYSTEM: THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I HAVE ADDED BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESEVOIR, ALTHOUGH THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM ONLY TEMPORARILY. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR. 2) AIR CONDITIONER: THE AC MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE, WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VIBRATION BEING FELT QUITE STRONGLY WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE PROBLEM DIMINSHES WHEN THE REAR AC IS TURNED OFF, AND DISSIPATES COMPLETELY WHEN THE AC AS A WHOLE IS SHUT DOWN.*AK
