The contact owns a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unintendedly shifted into gear. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was included in four unrepaired recalls. The contact informed the dealer that she was afraid to drive the vehicle due to the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission and the motor mounts were replaced in May 2025. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V176000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 251,599.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter, clutch, and hydraulic control system were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

While exceeding 60 mph on the highway with my two young children. The vehicle began to loose power. I tried accelerating the van would regain then bog down again. This happens suddenly. This could of been a horrible accident. The van just loosng all power without warning.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND LOST POWER WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WAITED FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, WHERE THE VEHICLE RESUMED BACK TO NORMAL. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE RESIDENCE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL NOISE APPEARED WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GERMAIN HONDA OF BEAVERCREEK (2300 HELLER DR, BEAVERCREEK, OH 45434, (855) 798-3158) TO BE REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN AIR BAG RECALL. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WE DISPOSED OF THE VEHICLE AND YET STILL GET MESSAGES FROM HONDA. THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD AS SCRAP. PLEASE ADVISE HONDA TO CEASE AND DESIST ALL FURTHER CONTACT/NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THE RECALL(S). WE HAVE NOTIFIED THEM MANY TIMES YET THEY PERSIST. THIS IS A DISCREDIT TO THE RECALL SYSTEM WHEN OBVIOUSLY FALSE AND ERRONEOUS MESSAGES ARE PERSISTENTLY SENT, IN ERROR. THIS CAUSES THE USER TO DISREGARD POTENTIALLY SERIOUS INFORMATION. HONDA MUST HAVE A METHOD OF ACCOUNTABILITY ADDED TO THEIR SYSTEM TO ALLLOW THE REMOVAL FROM THEIR RECALL DATABASE OF A VEHICLE WHICH HAS BEEN SOLD/TRANSFERRED/DESTROYED. HONDA HAS AN 'F' RATING WITH THE BBB ON THIS ISSUE. HONDA APPARENTLY DOES NOT TAKE RECALLS SERIOUSLY.

IGNITION SWITCH FAILS TO ACCEPT KEY. KEY CANNOT BE INSERTED. THE PROBLEM BEGINS INTERMITTENTLY AND BECOMES PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. DIFFERENT KEYS DON'T HELP. PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY LOCKSMITH TWICE IN DRIVEWAY. LOCKSMITH DISASSEMBLES, REPLACES BENT TUMBLER AND REASSEMBLES. FIX ONLY LASTS 1 -2 YEARS OF VERY LIGHT USAGE. PROBLEM HAS RE-OCCURRED FOR A THIRD TIME IN 6 YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH DOESN'T WANT TO TURN. IT TAKES BETWEEN 5 TO 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO FINALLY TURN SO I HAVE TO LEAVE A KEY IN THE VAN AND NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK. ONCE I TAKE IT OUT I SPEND ANOTHER 5 TO 10 MINUTES TURNING UNTIL IT FINALLY TURNS OVER.

2003 ODYSSEY APPROXIMATELY 67K MILES DEVELOPED FLUID LEAK IN PAST WEEK. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. WHILE DRIVING WITH FAMILY COOLANT LEAKED ONTO EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSING SMOKE AND HAD TO PULL OFF INTERSTATE. ENGINE HAD OPERATED NORMALLY AND THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS OR ABNORMAL TEMPERATURE GAGE READINGS. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER. DIAGNOSED AS LEAKING HEAD GASKET. UPON REMOVAL OF THE CYLINDER HEAD, THE HEAD BOLTS PULL FROM THE BLOCK PORTS WITH THE BOLT THREADS. APPARENTLY HEAD BOLTS HAD BECOME LOOSE GIVEN THE THREAD FAILURE IN THE BLOCK AND ALLOWED LEAKAGE OF FLUIDS IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. HONDA STATED THAT THE ENGINE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 3K++. APPARENTLY THIS SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TO SEVERAL OTHER 2003 ODYSSEY OWNERS ACCORDING TO ON-LINE SEARCH. THE DEALER WAS AT A LOSS TO EXPLAIN THE FAILURE OF THE BOLTS AT THE GIVEN MILEAGE. IT APPEARS THAT THIS COULD BE A DEFECT IN THE BLOCK DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE AND COULD LEAD TO PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE. HONDA SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND EGR VALVE DEFECTS WHICH HAVE ALSO BEEN A CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 ODYSSEY. KNOWN TRANSMISSION FAILURE FOR 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. NOTED AND CASCADED BY AMERICAN HONDA. REPAIRS COULD BE DONE UNDER GOODWILL AT HONDAS DISCRETION. COVERAGE WAS EXTENDED TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. IT APPEARS THAT INTERNAL DAMAGE COULD HAPPEN BEYOND THE SAID YEARS/MILEAGE RANGE FOR WARRANTY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. FROM A CONSUMERS PERSPECTIVE, IT IS A CLAUSE OR LANGUAGE USED TO LEVERAGE HONDAS GOODWILL DISCRETION. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN MADE PUBLIC BY THE NHTSA, WHILE HONDA SETTLED OUT OF COURT, YET DID NOT TAKE FULL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE KNOWN AND VALIDATED TRANSMISSION DEFICIENCY. GEAR SLIPS BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR IN THE RANGE OF 20-30MPH. ENGINE LIGHT AND TCS LIGHT TURNS ON, AS WELL AS THE DRIVE LIGHT FLASHING (INSTEAD OF BEING SOLID LIGHT). ACCELERATING AFTER A COMPLETE STOP IS VERY DIFFICULT WHEN CROSSING THE INTERSECTIONS. REPAIRING THE PRESSURE SWITCH ON 11/2/11 DID NOT RECTIFY THE SITUATION.

THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR GLASS SEPARATED FROM ITS FRAMEWORK/BRACKET AND FELL INTO THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT THE TIME - MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT I BELIEVE ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE WE WERE GETTING THE VERY COSTLY REPAIR DONE, ANOTHER WOMAN WAS THERE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE - I JUST HAPPENED TO OVERHEAR HER - RIGHT AFTER THE MAINTENANCE REP INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT HAPPENING. I AM SUBMITTING IT NOW BECAUSE I REALIZE IF PEOPLE DON'T SPEAK UP, NOTHING WILL BE INVESTIGATED. WE NO LONGER OWN THIS VEHICLE AND WE GAVE ALL THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS TO THE GAL WE SOLD IT TO. IT WAS REPAIRED BY PARK HONDA IN AKRON OHIO AND WE CAN ONLY ESTIMATE THE TIMEFRAME AND THE MILEAGE. IF NEEDED, I COULD TRY TO FIND OLD CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS THAT MIGHT NARROW IT DOWN.

HONDA ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE, SERVICE BULLETIN:08-031 " WARRANTY EXTENSION: PAINT PEELING ON DARK BLUE 2003-2005 ODYSSEYS". I AM ATTACHING THE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR YOUR REF. MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS AFFECTED AND ITS BLUE COLOR WAS PEELING OFF OF PLACES. ON FEB 24TH 2010, COLONIAL HONDA OF DARTMOUTH, MA REPAINTED THE AREAS OF CAR AS PER THE BULLETIN: WHICH WERE ROOF, HOOD, TOP HALF QUARTER PANELS, AND TOP HALF FENDERS. MY CONCERN WAS THAT HONDA CHOSE TO JUST PAINT THE FEW AREAS AND IF OTHER AREAS STARTS TO PEEL OFF AS WELL BUT I WAS TOLD BY COLONIAL DARTMOUTH DEALER THAT TO KEEP COST DOWN, HONDA IS ONLY WILLING TO RE-PAINT THE AFFECTED AREAS AND SHOULD ANY OTHER BE AFFECTED AT A LATER POINT, THOSE WILL BE DONE AT THAT POINT. WITH THAT SAID, I AGREED AND LET THE DEALER DO THE WORK. SOME TIME LATER I NOTICED THE PAINT IS PEELING FROM OTHER AREAS. IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY IT IS PEELING, LIKE IT DID BEFORE AND MATCHES PICTURES SHOWN IN THE BULLETIN ATTACHED. SO, I WENT BACK TO COLONIAL HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO CALL HONDA I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT THEY HAD PROMISED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM AT A LATER POINT IF PEELING SHOULD OCCURS BUT NOW THEY ARE NOT HONORING THEIR WORD AND LOOKING THE OTHER WAY AND ALSO MADE DEROGATORY REMARKS ABOUT MY CAR, THAT " YOUR CAR IS 13 YEARS OLD" !!! SUBSEQUENTLY, I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED CASE# N012015-04-2100738. AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN OF KEEPING ME ON HOLD, HONDA CUSTOMER REP, MATTHEW TOLD ME THE SAME THING THE DEALER SAID, THAT IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. IF HONDA WOULD HAVE DONE THE RECALL PROPERLY THE 1ST TIME, BY PAINTING THE CAR ON ALL AREAS I WOULD NOT BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A RECALL THAT WAS NOT DONE IN ITS ENTIRETY.

2003 HONDA ODYSSEY EX WAS TAPPED IN THE REAR BY A LARGE PICKUP TRUCK WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT, CREASING THE LIFT GATE AND SLIGHTLY PUNCTURING THE BUMPER COVER. JEFF'S BODY SHOP IN CHESTER MD IS THE REPAIR SHOP. UPON REMOVING THE REAR BUMPER COVER, THEY DISCOVERED THE STEEL FRAME TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED, WITH OVER HALF OF THE BOTTOM OF THE BEAM MISSING. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE STEEL FRAME MEMBER FROM THE ACCIDENT. HAD THIS BEEN A MORE SERIOUS COLLISION, THE BEAM COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY FAILED AT ITS INTENDED PURPOSE. THIS VAN WAS GARAGE KEPT FROM 2003-2010, WELL CARED FOR AND GENERALLY NOT DRIVEN WHEN IT SNOWED AND ROADS SALTED, AND IN TEMPERATE MARYLAND THE ENTIRE TIME. THE REPAIR SHOP WILL BE CUTTING OUT AND WELDING IN A NEW FRAME MEMBER. PHOTOS OF THE RUSTED PART ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. I'VE ALSO ASKED THE BODY SHOP TO SAVE THE PART FOR INSPECTION.

INTERLOCK SHIFT ISSUE. YOU CAN REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE IN DRIVE. THE ISSUE WAS INITIALLY CORRECTED VIA A RECALL. THE ISSUE IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. DEALERSHIP/ HONDA IS NOT WILLING TO FIX IT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DUPLICATE ON A LEVEL SURFACE. IT REPEATEDLY HAPPENS WHEN I PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON A SLANT. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE CAR STARTED ROLLING WHILE MY KIDS WERE GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT I CANNOT GET ADDRESSED. THIS ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN LIKE THEY SAY IT SHOULD. THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT THE TIME OF ISSUE. IT OCCURS DURING THE PROCESS OF TURNING OFF THE CAR AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. DATES IT OCCURS SINCE JUNE OF 2017. MILEAGE WAS A LITTLE LESS THAN 159000 WHEN IT STARTED AGAIN.

MY IGNITION LOCKED UP LADT YEAR AFTER YEAR IF IT HANGING UP HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY FIXED THE RECALL IN THE IGNITION BUT STATED THE LOCKING UP WAS UNRELATED. IT IS LESS THAN A YEAR AND IT IS HANGING UP AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT INTERMITTINGLY WILL NOT CATCH TO START LIIKE A DEAD BATTERY IF YOU TRY ABT 3 TIMES IT STARTS. CALLED DEALER THEY DO NOT CARE AND NEITHER DOES HINDA CASE MANAGER THEY JUST WANT YOU TO GET PASS AIR BAGS FIXED. I WANT ALL FIXED AT ONCE. THIS WILL BE THIRD TRIP FOR AIRBAGS. DEALERS SO FAR AWAY AS HAVE TO RENT CAR . TOLD THEM I WAS NOT RENTING CAR AGAIN AS I FOUND OUT THEY GAVE SOME PEOPLE LOANERS. ANYWAY I NEED IGNITION FIXED AND I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT TIL IT HAS TO BE TOWED. I THINK IT IS A BAD PART RELATED TO THE OTHER IGNITION RECALL SND SO FORS MY MECHAUV. TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING BADLY AT UNDER 140,000 MILES. I AM ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE ALWAYS USED DEALER AS THE MECHANIC AND FOR RECALLS OR SERVICES. I HAD HIGHER EXPECTATIONS FROM HONDA CARS, TO GO LONGER. THE PRICE THEY QUOTED ME FOR REPAIR WAS OVER 5000$ JUST FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE WAS POOR AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED! THEY EVEN CHARGED ME 115$ JUST TO TELL ME MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING (WHICH I ALREADY KNEW)! THE CAR STARTED SLIPPING ON A MONDAY NIGHT. IT WAS LATE. I USED THE CAR TO DRIVE MY SON TO SCHOOL AT 7:30 IN THE AM ( 1.5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE) AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO IN GEAR AFTER STOPPING TO LET MY SON OUT. I WAS BLOCKING THE SCHOOL DRIVE AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO HONDA. IT WAS CLEARLY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER SERVICE WAS NOT GREAT, EVEN AFTER GOING THERE AND BUYING MY CAR THERE ALL THESE YEARS. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION AND I FEEL THAT IT WAS NOT PROPERLY RESOLVED!

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER FOR THE DOOR TO LATCH CLOSED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS NOT A MANUAL OVERRIDE WHICH ALLOWED THE DOOR TO LATCH CLOSED. HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE RISK INCLUDING HIS SMALL CHILDREN POTENTIALLY FALLING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS IN MOTION. THERE WERE NO RECALLS PERTAINING TO THE TYPE OF FAILURE. CRASH ALMOST OCCURRED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY TWICE. HAVE TWO DEALER CHECKED UP AND BOTH SAID NEED A REPLACEMENT. CALL HONDA AND GOT VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HONDA DENIED RESPONSIBILITY, BUT OFFERED 25% REPLACEMENT COST. 02-04 ODYSSEY HAD TRANSMISSION RECALL IN 04. MY VAN WAS OVER 20K AND ONLY GOT AN OIL INJET KITS INSTALLED. I BELIEVED THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION HAS ALREADY BEEN DAMAGED AT THAT TIME. THE RECALL IS A SCAM FROM HONDA TO CHEAT, TO DELAY THE PROBLEM AND TO SAVE COST. We have had issues with our drivers side seatbelt since we purchased the vehicle new. First it had retraction issues, then the plastic stop button that keeps the buckle from sliding down failed, disintegrated. We asked the dealer to replace the belt which they refused to do. We have brought it to the dealer before, even generating a case number from Honda, but Honda refused to repair the belt. Over the years it has gotten progressively worse, where the belt is seriously frayed, and there are retraction issues. In August 2022, I contacted our local dealer, Piazza Honda in Springfield, PA. It took almost a month for them to take the car, make some photographs, and then to leave out of the notes that we had an ongoing retraction issue. Two months later, Honda Corporate informed me that they are denying the claim for the defective seatbelt. The warranty as stated in the handbook states a lifetime warranty for seatbelts. All aspects of the car pass State of PA Inspection requirements, all other aspects of the SRS systems are fully functional, with the exception of the drivers seatbelt. We believe that Honda's determination of non-liability is a ruse, a cynical attempt to exploit their customers in a critical safety component. We deserve a replacement seatbelt, and Honda customers need to be reminded that Honda is legally required to stand by the mandated Lifetime Warranty for Seatbelts. We feel that our only recourse to request that your agency look into this issue, and remind Honda of their responsibility. Honda's unconscionable conduct should not be condoned, not tolerated. This is not the first time Honda has tried to harm it's customers. The Federal government forced Honda to extend the warranty for its automatic transmissions, and repair defective ones. Our vehicle suffered from the same transmission issue, but we fell just outside the extended warranty period. The cost of the part (Honda 04818-S0X-A02ZH) is quite high from Honda, in excess of $667.73 without labor.

LATER ON AFTER A MINOR IMPACT, FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS LOCKED AND SRS BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE IMPACT. THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK DURING THE IMPACT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY LATER EITHER, BUT THE SEATBELTS LOCKED. ALSO, THERE IS A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE AT THE SCENE AND ONE TAKEN WELL AFTERWARD. THE BELTS LOCKED AND LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT THE SAME TIME I OBSERVED THAT THE GAP HAD FORMED IN THE BUMPER.

A BRACKET (HONDA P/N 507688 R10) THAT CONNECTS A DRIVER POWER SEAT ADJUSTING MOTOR TO THE SEAT FRAME FAILED AT ONE (TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE) OF TWO RIVET HOLES. THE BRACKET IS PART OF THE SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY 81630-S0X-A21. THE BRACKET IS A STAMPED STEEL PIECE ATTACHED TO A PRIMARY SEAT SUPPORT BRACE WITH TWO COMPRESSED RIVETS APPROXIMATELY 1/4" IN DIAMETER. NUMEROUS CRACKS WERE EXHIBITED RADIATING FROM THE REMAINING RIVET HOLE AND REMAINDER OF THE FAILED RIVET HOLE. THE INITIAL HALF OF THE FRACTURE EXHIBITS TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A FATIGUE FRACTURE WITH THE LAST PART OF FRACTURE SHOWING DUCTILE FRACTURE ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH LOAD. I SPENT 10 YEARS AS A PRACTICING METALLURGIST PERFORMING HUNDREDS OF FAILURE ANALYZES. BRACKET FAILURE RENDERS THE DRIVER SEAT AS A SERIOUS DANGER TO THE DRIVER IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AS THE SEAT IS ESSENTIALLY NOW ONLY ATTACHED FROM THE REAR TWO POINTS. THE FRONT ATTACHMENTS ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL UPON BRACKET FAILURE THUS TURNING THE DRIVER INTO A BOBBLE HEAD PERSON. ADDITIONAL CRACKS RADIATING FROM THE BRACKET RIVET HOLES INDICATE A POTENTIAL DESIGN LOAD ISSUE, A POSSIBLE MATERIAL DEFECT IN THE BRACKET, OR AN OVER-ZEALOUS RIVET COMPRESSION ISSUE. IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT SIMILAR CRACKS EXIST IN BRACKETS UTILIZING THE SAME DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING BATCH. I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY FROM THE ON-RAMP. THE CAR FAILED TO SHIFT AT AROUND 38 MPH. THE ENGINE REVVED TO THE RED LINE BUT, THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE. I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED BY THE GUY WHO HAS SERVICED MY THREE PREVIOUS HONDAS. Van has open recalls on driver and passenger side airbags. Van also has a defective driver front seat belt tensioner that Honda claims has a lifetime warranty, but Hendrick Honda of Bradenton FL refuses to perform the recalls or replace the defective seatbelt tensioner. Even after advising them that they are required by law to perform any open recalls and are not allowed to charge anything for said recalls, Service Writer "Tammy" was uncooperative and kept alluding to things like she couldn't guarantee we would not be charged up to $1500 for these repairs which honestly should ALL be recalls as they are life safety issues. Due to their refusal to perform even the NHTSA recalls even after being given the documentation of the required recall, we have to find another dealership and hope they will perform the recalls.

THE SRS LIGHT IN MY VEHICLE IS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. HONDA DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SWITCH IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT. PAGE 53 OF MY VEHICLE OWNERS MANUAL CLEARLY STATES THE FOLLOWING: "HONDA PROVIDES A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON SEAT BELTS. HONDA WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY SEAT BELT COMPONENT THAT FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING NORMAL USE." AS SUCH, THE AFOREMENTIONED SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH IS A COMPONENT OF THE SEAT BELT. HOWEVER, HONDA REFUSES TO COVER REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, AS ACCORDING TO MY MANUAL, AN SRS INDICATOR LIGHT MAY CAUSE CERTAIN AIRBAGS NOT TO DEPLOY DURING A COLLISION. SUCH AN EVENT WOULD SURELY CAUSE CLEARLY PREVENTABLE BODILY HARM IF THEY WOULD JUST HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. I STOP ENGINE; AFTER SOMETIME I STARTED AND IT WAS RUNNING AGAIN AND AFTER 20 MINUTES IT STOPPED ON THE ROAD AGAIN. I DROVE TO A NEARBY HONDA SERVICE CENTER FOR CHECKING AND THEY GAVE ME DOCUMENTS THAT SAID A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT NEEDED THAT COST MORE THAN 6,000. I DROVE BACK IN MY PARKING LOT AND PARK THERE AND DID NOT DRIVE ON THE ROAD AGAIN. I TRIED IN THE PARKING LOT AND FOUND IT RUNS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, BUT WHEN IT HEATED IT STOP, BUT AFTER SOMETIMES IT RUN AGAIN. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AND DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR ON THE ROAD. SOME OF MY FRIENDS ALSO BROUGHT THE SAME CAR AND THEY FACED THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER 100,000-180,000. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 20 MPH AND I HAD TO USE THE BRAKES, MY CAR JERKED SUDDENLY TWICE WHILE I WAS GENTLY PUSHING THE BRAKES (AS IF I SLAMMED ON THEM TWICE). I ACCELERATED SLOWLY AND ONCE I GOT BACK INTO SECOND GEAR MY CAR WOULDN'T CATCH AND STARTED TO MAKE A WHIRRING NOISE. ONCE IT GOT PAST SECOND GEAR IT DRIVES SLOWER THAN USUAL FOR THE AMOUNT OF RPMS BEING USED. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IT'S ONLY ON THE SECOND GEAR THAT IT GLITCHES UP. I KNOW THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES BUT IT HAS A NEWER MOTOR AND WE HAVE KEPT UP ON THE FLUIDS FOR THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD NOT BE ACTING THIS WAY AND I EXPECT A RECALL ON THIS PROMPTLY. A SCRAPING NOISE IN THE FRONT BRAKES AS WELL AS POOR BRAKING PROMPTED REMOVAL OF THE TIRES FOR INSPECTION. I FOUND THAT THE INSIDE BRAKE PADS ON BOTH WHEELS WERE WORN DOWN TO 1MM WHILE THE OUTSIDE PADS STILL HAD 5-6 MILLIMETERS OF PAD MATERIAL LEFT. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE I HAD WITH MY REAR BRAKES A WHILE AGO. EVER SINCE WE HAVE HAD THIS VAN, WE HAVE HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS OF GLAZED PADS AND BAD ROTORS. WELL, THE WEAR INDICATORS ARE ON THE INSIDE PADS, BUT THEY WERE SILENT BECAUSE THE WEAR INDICATORS HAD BROKEN OFF ON BOTH INSIDE PADS, LEAVING NO INDICATION THAT THE INSIDE PADS WERE WORN OUT. I NOW HAVE 44,000 MILES ON MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD LX, AND THE BRAKES/ROTORS HAVE BEEN SERVICED 9 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. GAS FUMES LEAKED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. GAS SMELL BECAME OVERWHELMING WHEN VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR AWHILE WITH ALL WINDOWS DOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN REFERENCE TO A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS DO NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR CLOSES BUT NOT QUITE ALL THE WAY, IT WILL NOT "ENGAGE", OR "CATCH". THEREFORE, THE VAN THINKS THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN (OPEN DOOR LIGHT IS ON, BUZZES CONTINUALLY WHEN PUT INTO GEAR, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON). HOWEVER, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT ON, SO THE VAN THINKS THE DOOR IS FINE, BUT STILL OPEN. I HAVE TO GET OUT, WALK AROUND, AND PHYSICALLY BUMP THE REAR OF THE DOOR THE FINAL CENTIMETER OR SO TO GET IT FLUSH. FOR SOME REASON THE BACK LOCK PART ISN'T "CATCHING." THIS OCCURS ALMOST EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS SHUT. THIS IS A DANGER FOR ANY CHILDREN RIDING IN THE CAR IF THE DOOR IS NOT ENGAGED. All recalls have been completed on this 2003 Honda Odyssey Van but every now and then the warning light for the supplemental restraint system comes on and will stay on for a long time. the next trip it will be fine. Just wondering if this is something to be concerned about. It is a car we keep at our beach house and only use on a limited basis but I need to know it is safe. I recently had vehicle scanned and had all old codes cleared. If the air bag situation is the cause of this I don't want to be driving it. East Coast Honda in Myrtle Beach, SC. SERVICE SAFETY RECALL REGARDING SRS MALFUNCTION WAS PERFORMED ON MY VAN BY PAUL MILLER HONDA IN CALDWELL, NJ ON 12/21/2013. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, THE SRS MALFUNCTION LIGHT COMES ON AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING. NOTIFIED DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. AMERICAN HONDA OPENED A CASE FOR THIS, N012014-01-0200225. WAS ADVISED FOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT FROM THE DEALER. WENT BACK TO DEALER FOR TEST ON 1/4/14 AND A DTC CODE 53-31, INTERNAL FAILURE OF SRS UNIT, WAS CALLED OUT ON TEST. WANTS SRS UNIT REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. ADVISED BY DEALER THAT THIS NOT RELATED TO RECALL. THE RECALL WAS ADDING WIRES ON THE HARNESS WIRES SET TO THE SRS UNIT. I WAS ADVISED BY AMERICAN HONDA TO SEEK DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO OTHER DEALER. WENT TO GARDEN STATE HONDA IN PASSAIC, NJ ON 1/22/14 FOR A MORE THOROUGH TEST. THE DEALER INSIST ON REPLACING 2 YEAR BATTERY AS THIS MIGHT CAUSES DTC 53-31. CCA ON BATTERY WAS 450, RECOMMENDED IS 550. TOLD ADVISOR THAT CCA IS FOR COLD CRANKING/STARTING OF VAN AND IRRELEVANT TO THE PROBLEM AS LONG AS OUTPUT IS A SUSTAINED 12 VDC AND I DO NOT HAVE PROBLEM WHEN STARTING THE VAN. FORCED TO COMPLY AT MY OWN EXPENSE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH NEW BATTERY. ON 2/6/14 AND AFTER 3 TRIPS, DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF SRS UNIT ON MY OWN EXPENSE AND NOT RELATED TO RECALL LIKE THE FIRST DEALER. THE DEALER IS UNCERTAIN IF THIS WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUES. SUMMARY: WIRING PROBLEM THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. THE WIRING INSIDE THE CABLE REEL ASSEMBLY IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY CAME APART INSIDE. THIS WIRING INCLUDE SRS WIRING AS WELL AS HORN, LIGHTING, AND CRUISE CONTROL WIRING. UPON REMOVAL OF THIS PART ALL COPPER CONTACTS TO ALL WIRES WERE EXPOSED AND ANY WIRE COULD HAVE SHORTED TO ANY OTHER WIRE -- THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL SRS/AIR BAG TO BE DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. CONTACTS WERE CONSTANTLY BEING TUGGED AT WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 42,000 MILES AND HONDA WOULD NOT SAY THEY WOULD PAY TO FIX IT, I REPAIRED THIS MYSELF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HONDA SERVICE MANUAL. TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE TRAVELING 40MPH AT 130000 MILES. IT WAS REPLACED. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING 2003 TRANSMISSIONS, BUT THE WINDOW HAD CLOSED, SO I HAD TO PAY FOR IT FULLY. NOVEMBER 20, 2011, WHILE DRIVING 45MPH, DASH LIGHTS FLASH, RADIO LOSES POWER. WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OFF, THE CAR IS DEAD. RESTARTS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, AFTER LOTS OF CLICKING IN THE DASH. AT VARYING SPEEDS THE DASH LIGHTS WILL FLASH, AND THE CLOCK AND RADIO GO DEAD BRIEFLY. SOMETIMES THE DOOR LOCK AND THE SLIDING DOOR BUTTONS DON'T WORK, BUT IF I WAIT 2 MINUTES, I HEAR THE CLICKING IN THE DASH, AND SUDDENLY THERE IS POWER. I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH THE TOWING PACKAGE. THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THAT MY REAR SUSPENSION CANNOT SUPPORT THE TONGUE WEIGHT OF MY POP UP TRAILER. ALSO THERE IS NO MANUFACTURER THAT MAKES HEAVY DUTY SHOCKS FOR THE ODYSSEY. MY MANUAL SAYS THAT THE ODYSSEY CAN TOW UP TO 3500 LBS. MY POP UP IS ONLY 2000LBS. EVEN WITH A WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION HITCH MY ODYSSEY STILL DIPS DOWN IN THE REAR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING. HONDA SHOULD OFFER AS PART OF THE TOWING PACKAGE HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION. LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER WE BOUGHT OUR VAN, THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE PROPERLY. IT WAS FIXED PRIOR TO US BUYING THE VAN. ABOVE 15K MILES NEEDS TO BE EXAMINED BY THE DEALER FOR DISCOLORATION OF THE CLUTCHE PLATES INSIDE THE GEAR BOX. HONDA STATED THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH A RETURN LINE, BUT IN FACT IF THE 2ND GEAR HAD THIS ISSUE, THIS IS NOT A FIX, BUT JUST A WORK AROUND TO SAVE REPAIR COST FOR HONDA. HOW DID NHTSA APPROVE SUCH A TEMP REMEDIATION, WHEN THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAULTY. OPENED UP A CASE WITH HONDA AND I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE TRANNY HAS AN ISSUES BUT IS OPERATIONAL, IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AS FAULTY. ON THE FREEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING SLIPPED AND LOST POWER. VERY SCARY WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WAS BARLEY ABLE TO MAKE IT OFF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD DID WE MAKE IT SAFELY OFF THE FREEWAY. HONDA DEALER SAID WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 106,000. JUST A FEW THOUSAND MILES OVER WARRANTY AND HONDA WOULD ONLY GRANT %50 COVERAGE. STILL COST ME $2797.00. HONDA OF AMERICA KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT STILL DOES NOT COMPENSATE LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMERS. I PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY TO PICK UP MY 4 YR GRANDSON. I LEFT THE CAR, WITH KEYS IN HAND, BUT LEFT THE CAR DOOR OPEN. I TURNED MY BACK TO THE DOOR TO WALK AROUND THE BACK OF THE CAR, AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS TOWARD THE STREET. I TURNED QUICKLY IN THE DIRECTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL ATTEMPTING TO INSERT MY RIGHT LEG TO PRESS THE BRAKE. I HOPPED A FEW TIMES ON MY LEFT LEG, AS THE CAR DOOR WAS PUSHING ME BACKWARDS. UNABLE TO REACH THE BRAKE, THE FORCE OF THE CAR DOOR SLAMMED ME TO THE GROUND ON MY RIGHT BUTTOCK AND RIGHT SIDE. THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR SCRAPED OVER MY LEFT KNEE, LEAVING TWO GASHES AND BRUISED KNEE, SCRAPED UP OVER MY LEFT ARM AND SHOULDER, COMPRESSING MY SHOULDERS, CLAVICLE, CHEST CAVITY AND BASE OF SKULL (SHOULDER TO SHOULDER MEASURING 19") SO THEY WOULD FIT BENEATH THE DOOR (12" CLEARANCE).THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR DOOR IS CRIMPED WHERE "IT GAVE" INTO THE PRESSURE OF PUSHING MY BODY INTO THE GROUND. MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY'S TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN FALL OF 2010. I AM A CAREFUL DRIVER, TAKEN CARE TO MAINTAIN MY CAR ACCORDING TO SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. THE TRANSMISSION FELT A LITTLE LOOSE FOR A FEW DAYS, AND THEN ONE DAY ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK IT COMPLETELY FAILED. I COULDN'T GET INTO ANY GEAR. I CALLED HONDA AND ASKED FOR HELP AND THEY SAID MY CAR WAS TOO OLD AND IT WAS NORMAL FOR TRANSMISSIONS TO FAIL. THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR WAS 134760. THE TOP BRACKET HOLDING THE ALTERNATOR TO THE ENGINE BLOCK FAILED AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VAN. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE OF THE TOP BRACKET, THE STRESS ON THE MAIN SERPENTINE BELT CAUSED THE BOLT HOLDING THE ALTERNATOR IN PLACE TO SNAP OFF AT THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS CAUSED THE ALTERNATOR TO BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSED A BURNING SMELL TO COME INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR LOOSE AND UN-ATTACHED POSES A POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WITH THE PULLY SYSTEM AND THE POWER STEERING WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I REPORTED THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON OCTOBER 25TH, 2010. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF AND NOT CORRECTING WITH A RECALL AND ADDITION OF A RE ENGINEERED AND STRENGTHENED TOP ALTERNATOR BRACKET. I AM ALSO VERY CONCERNED THAT FAILURE OF THIS PART/SYSTEM WHILE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE DRIVING THE VAN WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY OR DEATH TO MY FAMILY. I HAVE CALLED HONDA AND THEIR SOLUTION OR RECOMMENDATION IS TO REPLACE THE PART AND USE PROPER TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. THIS HAS NOT WORKED 2 TIMES SO FAR AND MY MECHANIC TRIED TO WELD AND ADDITIONAL PIECE OF METAL TO THE OEM BRACKET TO MAKE THE BRACKET STRONGER, AND THIS DID NOT WORK.

ON FIRST FAILURE AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHTS BECAME VERY DIM WHILE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING CAUSING DANGER TO OCCUPANTS AND OTHER MOTORISTS. ON SECOND FAILURE VEHICLE WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND NO IMMEDIATE HAZARD TO DRIVER OR OTHER MOTORISTS. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A KNOWN COMPONENT FAILURE TO HONDA AND NHTSB.

2003 HONDA ODYSSEY - AS WE WERE DRIVING ON HWY I-24 W, TCS AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS LIGHTED UP. WE CHECKED THE HANDBOOK GIVEN BY HONDA IN WHICH IT WAS SAID THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN EVEN WHEN THESE LIGHTS ARE ON. WE DROVE FOR 30 MILES WHEN THERE WAS A SMELL LIKE GAS AND IT GOT STRONGER IN COUPLE OF MINUTES. I ASKED MY HUSBAND TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE AFTER THAT. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AT HOME. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND TRIED FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE PERSONNEL WAS SO BURNT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER QUOTED $3750.00 FOR REPLACING THE PART. CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO REPORT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE SINCE WE WERE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I never had issues with my van when I bought it but On Monday got all the fluids drove to Phoenix and the transmission got hot the TCL light and ABs light turned on as well as the SRS light no check engine the floor on the driver side and passenger side was super hot. The transmission on 1st gear start hitting hard 2nd gear started slipping we pulled over right away let the car cool down but the transmission level where normal motor oil was at normal we did the oil service transmission service the dealer I bought it from has did Amazon service I don’t really drive it only to visit my kids. I looked up the recall and my van has a lot of them I’m worried of driving home to California I’m in Phoenix so I hope the dealer will fix the recall when u put the year of the 2003 honda odyssey my vin switch to a different one on your site please help

I HAVE HAD TWO DEALER SERVICE MANAGERS CONFIRM THIS PROBLEM AND BOTH HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY OR RECALL. BOTH HAVE WARNED ME THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IF THE LAST MOUNT FAILS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE CONDITION OF THE ROADS AND FREEWAYS MAKE IT VERY HARD TO AVOID POT HOLES AND I HOLD MY BREATH EVERY TIME I HIT ONE TO SEE IF THE MOTOR IS OK. ELECTRICAL: 1. AFTER I HAD THE AIR BAGS THAT WERE RECALLED REPLACED THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ?? PROBLEM THAT TURNS THE RADIO ON AND OFF (I CAN USUALLY CHANGE IT BY BEATING ON THE STEERING WHEEL BUT THAT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK.) 2. OCCASIONALLY WHEN I REMOVE THE KEY IT CONTINUES TO BEEP UNTIL I BEAT ON THE STEERING WHEEL. 3. OFTEN WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THERE IS A LOUD ELECTRICAL (CRACKING LIKE A SHORT) SOUND IN THE SPEAKERS THAT SOMETIMES I CAN STOP BY BEATING ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IF IT DOESN'T STOP I PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. 4, THE DOOR AND SLIDER LOCKS DO NOT WORK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH THE REMOTE OR THE LOCKS ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN SO A PASSENGER CAN UNLOCK THE DOOR OR SLIDER MANUALLY. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 2+ YEARS. I CAN TAKE MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WHILE IN DRIVE. HONDA DOES HAVE LIMITED RECALLS ON TRANNYS BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED (ONLY IF 2ND SHAFT IS BROKEN & SCORED AND BURNT/ BLUISH COLOR) THIS WILL DOCUMENTED TRANNY PROBLEM WITH 2ND GENERATION ODYSSEY IS VERY UPSETTING AND I BLAME IT ON A POOR DESIGN BY HONDA ENGINEERS (UNDER SIZED TRANNY PAIRED WITH A POWER V6 240HP HEAVY 4500LBS VAN HAS BEEN A RECIPE FOR PREMATURE FAILURE). THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS REQUIRED RE-GROUNDING AFTER WARPING HAD OCCURRED WHICH CAUSED A PULSATING SENSATION WHEN BRAKING. THE ROTORS WERE RE-GROUND AT 34K, BUT THE PULSATING BEHAVIOR BEGAN SOMEWHERE AROUND AN ESTIMATED 28K. THE TIRES HAD ONLY BEEN ROTATED TWICE AND BOTH TIMES WERE SECURED USING FACTORY TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS, SO INCORRECT LUG NUT SETTINGS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A FACTOR. NO EVIDENCE OF GLAZING FROM RIDING THE BRAKES WAS PRESENT, NOR HAS THE CAR EVER BEEN DRIVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DEPLOYED. THE CAR IS BELIEVED TO BE DRIVEN WITHIN NORMAL TOLERANCES SINCE WE PURCHASED NEW IN 6/03 AND HAS BEEN USED MORE FOR COMMUTING MODE RATHER THAN A LOT OF STOP AND GO USEAGE. THE FACTORY REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 10% REMAINING (WEAR TAB JUST STARTED WARNING 10 MILES EARLIER), WHILE THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE NEARLY 70% ORIGINAL MATERIAL REMAINING. I HAVE INSTALLED RAYBESTOS CERAMIC PADS ON THE REAR, BUT MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW AND NOT DRIVEN MIS-USE/ABUSE AND THAT I'LL LIKELY HAVE TO REPAY FOR THIS REPEATEDLY IF I'M TYPICAL OF OTHERS WHO'VE COMPLAINED OF WARPED ROTORS ON THE 03 ACCORD EX - 6 CYL.

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION WITH TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE STOPPED AHEAD. THE DRIVER HAD TO FORCE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED TOTALED. *JB *SC

PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION AND AIR CONDITIONER.*MR OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDED THE PASSENGER SEAT MOVING WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS OR STARTS. TRANSMISSION SURGED ON OCCASIONS. THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED AS A RESULT OF A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER WHICH COULD'VE BEEN CAUSED BY DEBRIS. THIS REPAIR WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THE SEATS WERE CHECKED, THE MECHANIC STATED IT WAS NORMAL DUE TO OTHER ODYSSEY VEHICLE'S ON THE LOT WITH MOVING SEATS. AFTER THE FACT, THE CONSUMER FELT AS THOUGH ALL PROBLEMS OR CONCERNS WERE NOT REPAIRED. *PH *JB

AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE JUST 6 WEEKS THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: 1. BRAKES BEGAN TO GET SOFTER AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE TILL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR 2. WHILE WAITING AT A SIGNAL THE CAR ENGINE APPEARS TO BE REVVING UP AND SHAKING 3. RATTLING NOISE EMANATING FROM THE MUFFLER LINKAGE 4. LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN GAGE IS STILL AT TANK. OF GRAVE CONCERN IS AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED LAST FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 2003 WHILE MY WIFE WAS TAKING MY SON TO CELEBRATE HIS 6TH BIRTHDAY AT SUMMER CAMP. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED: AFTER MAKING A TURN ON A STEEP HILL MY WIFE PROCEEDED DOWN THE HILL. WHILE GOING DOWN THE HILL THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE FOLLOWING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON THE DASH , BATTERY, OIL, DOOR OPEN WARNING LIGHTS. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND SHE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GOING FAST AND WE WERE ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED AND UPSET BY THE INCIDENT. SHE WAS ALMOST IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT! WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BEAVERTON HONDA WHO ADVISES US THUS FAR THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. YOU CAN SURELY UNDERSTAND OUR CONCERNS WITH THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE APPEARS TO BE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.
