until today, 4/3/2022, no issues with 2004 Honda Odyssey transmission. today after driving 5 minutes from home the engine roared and forward drive was lost. the car was balky getting it home and would not climb a moderate hill. after a 30 minute rest the car would move forward and was able to reach home shifting from D1 to D2 made no difference shifting into Low made no difference trans fluid is at normal level but its dark, not burnt, just dark 2nd hand car purchased 5 years ago with 80,000 miles trans serviced at 125,000 miles [XXX], (220,000 miles). The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the contact moved the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V176000 (Power Train) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. There was assistance offered. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 202,000.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURED WHEN DRIVING IN RT 5 FREEWAY PAST GLENDALE AND 134 JUNCTION, CAR WAS RUNNING IN ABOUT 60 MILES SPEED AND CAME ABRUPT STOP (LOSS OF DRIVE/PULL IN A VERY DANGEROUS WAY). MANAGED TO PUSH IT TO BREAKDOWN LANE. THEN UPON TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER A WHILE I COULD DRIVE A BIT TO PARK IN INTERNAL ROAD. I THEN TOWED THE CAR. LATER, I DROVE IN INTERNAL ROAD. SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. WHEN PLACED IN AUTOMATIC DRIVE (D) VEHICLE RUNS FOR FEW MILES AND SUDDENLY FAILS TO RUN AND STOPS. CHANGING GEAR DOESN'T HELP. WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND ON BACK AGAIN, IT WORKS AGAIN FOR A MILE OR TWO AND SHOWS SAME PROBLEM. WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS, IT DOESN'T MOVE IN ANY GEARS. RESEARCHING IN INTERNET, HONDA 2004 ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRING AT 117,000 MILES WAS REPORTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. AS IF IT WAS PROGRAMMED BY HONDA, THIS MINI VAN TOO FAILED AT 117K MILES. SOME OWNERS HAVE CLAIMED (INCLUDING YOUTUBE VIDEOS) THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE REPAIR AT NO COST. SOME ALSO CLAIM THAT HONDA HAS SECRET WARRANTY TO COVER THIS PROBLEM AND HAD AVAILED THE REPAIR FREE OF COST .THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM TO HONDA. HONDA MUST REPAIR FOR FREE AND DO THE JUSTICE TO CONSUMERS. THIS IS INDEED FATAL TOO.

GOOD EVENING, I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. LAST YEAR, THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO REMEDY THE ONGOING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RECALL 04V-176. BRAMAN HONDA IN MIAMI, FLORIDA DID NOT INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION AS REQUIRED AND LIED ON THEIR WORK ORDER THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOOK 7 HOURS WITH MY VAN. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED. MY TRANSMISSION WAS IN WORKING CONDITION WHEN IT TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LAST YEAR. I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES THAT THE RECALL WARNS THAT MAY HAPPEN DUE TO THE ONGOING GEAR ISSUES. LAST WEEK, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY VAN'S TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME SAFELY. I RELY ON MY VAN FOR WORK THEREFORE THIS MATTER IS AFFECTING US FINANCIALLY. MY WIFE RECENTLY CALLED THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL HOTLINE AND SPOKE WITH LISA. THE REP ADVISED THAT I WILL HAVE TO TOW MY VAN AND PAY OUT OF POCKET, FOR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO EVALUATE THIS ISSUE. SINCE THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO REMEDY THIS RECALL LAST YEAR, I AM REQUESTING THE FOLLOWING: I WOULD LIKE FOR AN ENGINEER OR MECHANIC TO BE DISPATCHED TO OUR HOME AND CHECK THE TRANSMISSION. ONCE THE MATTER IS ASSESSED, THEN I CAN PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE TOWED TO A NEARBY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER FOR SERVICE. LISA EXPLAINED TO MY WIFE THAT THERE IS A 50/50 CHANCE THAT THIS TRANSMISSIONRECALL ISSUE WILL ACTUALLY BE REPAIRED WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE. I CURRENTLY LIVE IN FLORIDA WHICH IS THE THIRD STATE WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNT OF COVID-19 CASES THEREFORE THIS WOULD BE THE MOST FEASIBLE OPTION. LAST YEAR'S CASE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WAS CLOSED PREMATURELY EVEN THOUGH MY WIFE ADVISED IT WAS STILL ONGOING. As the result of a recall, my driver airbag inflator was replaced. Soon afterwards, my horn started honking when hitting, bumps or moving the steering wheel. I returned the vehicle to the dealership, and they said they adjusted something that seem to help for a short period of time. However, the problem returned upon taking the car to another dealership. I found that the automotive repairman stated that the wrong part for the inflator had been installed. I returned it to the original dealership and they refused to address the problem. The dealer is persons Honda at 15525 Frederick Rd., Rockville, MD 20855.

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH the driver-side front air bag deploy on its own without any impact, causing the contact to drive off the road and struck a tree and causing damages to the front end of the vehicle. No one was injured. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed, but the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 168,000.

The vehicle was taken to Honda to have the airbag replaced. They said that the work couldn’t be completed because the airbag had already been deployed. They said that they needed to work with corporate to determine what the costs were going to be. I kept making calls to find out what the status was but I never heard back. I did speak to a couple of reps but they never got back to me. Also, I became very frustrated because they kept telling they would get back to me and never did. Basically, I kept having to chase someone down to no avail. Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION INFORMING ME OF THE RECALL, AND STATING IN THE LETTER "FREE RENTAL CARS ARE AVAILABLE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER FOR THE DAY OF THE RECALL REPAIR, OR LONGER IF A REPLACEMENT PART IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE." I CALLED A LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO ARRANGE THE RECALL REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED THEY DON'T OFFER THE FREE RENTAL CAR SERVICE. I CALLED HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION TO ENQUIRER ABOUT THIS SERVICE. THEY TOOK MY INFORMATION AND WILL HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME WITHIN 24-48 HOURS I CAN EXPECT A CALLBACK WITH AN AUTHORIZATION SERVICE. THE WAY THE LETTER IS WORDED IMPLIES A FREE RENTAL IS AVAILABLE, NO WHERE IN THE LETTER DOES IT STIPULATE UPON DEALER APPROVAL, OR ANY FINE PRINT INDICATING ANY STIPULATIONS AROUND THE FREE CAR RENTAL. FROM THE LETTER, I EXPECT A LOANER WHILE REPAIRS ARE PERFORMED, YET HONDA HAS TO AUTHORIZE THIS. THE DEALER INFORMED ME TO BRING THE LETTER IN WITH ME BUT I CAN'T TAKE THE TIME TO TRAVEL THERE IN CASE I'LL BE DENIED A RENTAL. MY JOB REQUIRES I TRAVEL PERIODICALLY, AND IF SUCH ARISES WHILE MY VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL, I WILL NEED A LOANER. THE SLIDING PASSENGER DOORS CONTINUE TO FAIL TO OPEN ELECTRONICALLY AND ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPEN IF THEY DO NOT OPEN ELECTRONICALLY. THIS CAN BE AN ISSUE FOR PASSENGERS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AS EVERYONE WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OUT THE FRONT DOORS. THE DOORS CAN ONLY BE OPENED ELECTRONICALLY WHEN STATIONARY. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN MANUALLY, DOORS CAN ONLY BE OPENED A FEW INCHES.

PAINT BEGAN PEELING SOMETIME BUT NOT NOTICEABLY UNTIL A YEAR AGO. WHEN SERVICED AT A HONDA DEALER, THEY SHRUGGED AND SAID THEY DIDN'T HANDLE PAINT. THE DAMAGE HAS INCREASED GREATLY (SEE PHOTOS) AND RUST IS BEGINNING TO BE VISIBLE. THE PAINT FLAKES OFF WHILE I DRIVE. I CANNOT SELL THE CAR IN THIS SHAPE. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BUMPERS RUSTING AWAY WITH NO WAY OF KNOWING. MY FAMILY RODE AROUND IN THIS CAR FOR MAYBE 2-3 YEARS WITH A BUMPER THAT HAD RUSTED SO BADLY IT WAS LITERALLY FALLING APART, BUT REMAINED INSIDE OF THE BUMPER COVER, SO WE DID NOT KNOW IT. FINALLY IT RUSTED SO BADLY THAT IT BEGAN TO LEAVE RUST STAINS ON THE DRIVEWAY AND I TRACED IT TO THIS PROBLEM. BY THIS TIME THE BUMPER WAS ALMOST GONE. IT PROBABLY PAST THE POINT OF PROVIDING ANY PROTECTION MAYBE 2 YEARS AGO. THIS CAR HAS A REAR FACING SEAT AND IS USED OFTEN. IT TERRIFIES ME TO KNOW A REAR END COLLISION AT PRACTICALLY ANY SPEED WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR WORSE THEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND PROBABLY IMPACTED THE FUEL TANK, AGAIN, AT FAR LOWER SPEEDS THAN IT WOULD NORMALLY. MY SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. IN MY OPINION THIS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OUT ON ALL ODYSSEY'S. PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AROUND THINKING THEY ARE PROTECTED AND PROBABLY AREN'T. A REAR COLLISION COULD RESULT IN DEATH DUE TO THE GAS TANK BEING LEFT UNPROTECTED AND REAR PASSENGERS EXPOSED TO SERIOUS INJURIES AT MUCH LOWER SPEEDS. I DO NOT LIVE IN AN AREA WITH LOTS OF SALT WATER OR SALTED ROADS, THERE IS NOT A RUST ISSUE ANYWHERE ELSE, THIS SEEMS TO BE ISOLATED TO JUST THE REAR BUMPER.

We were driving and was at a stop, when we went to go, our van wouldn't move. We shut it off then restarted it and it was ok for about a mile then started shaking a little & we could only go about 10 mph on a highway. We got home after it being off restarted it it goes into gear but won't go anywhere no warning lights came on at all we keep up on maintenance too.

ON 8/25/2016 I TOOK MY 2004 ODYSSEY TO ANDERSON HONDA AT PALO ALTO FOR NORMAL OIL CHANGE. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE THEY SHOWED ME THAT THE OIL DRAIN PLUG WOULD NOT TORQUE DOWN TO SPECS (JUST SPINS). THE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL PAN. ANDERSON HONDA'S SERVICE ADVISOR DENIED THAT THEY OVER-TORQUED THE PLUG. THE MILEAGE WAS ONLY 67637, THE PLUG HAD BEEN TAKEN OFF AND PUT ON FOR ONLY ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES AND IT'S THE ORIGINAL HONDA PART IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. BEFORE THE OIL CHANGE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND DURING THE LAST TIME MAINTENANCE AT ANOTHER HONDA DEALER THE CAR WAS CHECKED WITH EVERYTHING OK. ON 8/29/2016 I TOOK MY CAR TO VICTORY HONDA AT SAN BRUNO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE OIL PAN WAS REPLACED. THE OLD OIL PAN SHOWED THE SCREW IN THE OIL PAN WAS DAMAGED BY THE STEEL PLUG. THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM COULD BE: 1 ANDERSON HONDA'S TECHNICIAN OVER-TORQUED THE PLUG AND DAMAGED THE OIL PAN. BUT THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY ARE HONDA OFFICIAL DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T OVER-TORQUED IT. 2. HONDA'S PARTS OR DESIGNS HAVE DEFECT. THEY SHOULD NOT PUT STEEL PLUG ONTO A SOFT METAL PAN DIRECTLY. I THINK THE COST OF REPLACING DAMAGED OIL PAN SHOULD BE PAID EITHER BY ANDERSON HONDA OR HONDA OF AMERICA. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT PAY FOR THEIR FAULT. I PURCHASED A HONDA ODYSSEY FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER MARCH 2012 WITH 122,000 MILES ON IT AND WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. NOVEMBER 2014 I DROVE THE CAR TO MY GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE 5 HOURS AWAY FOR THANKSGIVING AND THE DAY AFTER THE RETURN TRIP THE CAR BEGAN SLIPPING GEARS. HONDA WANTS $5,100 TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS IN IT NOW IF THEY INDEED PUT A NEW ONE IN IT IS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT!! THAT IS RIDICULOUS!! OUR 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY DRIVER SIDE SEAT BROKE FROM THE BRACKET. THE WELDS THAT HOLD THE SEAT TO THE BRACKET BROKE CAUSING THE SEAT TO START TILTING AND WOBBLING WHILE WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING INCREASING RISK OF COLLISIONS.

I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPOT AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME. WHEN I WAS MORE THAN HALFWAY IN THE SPOT, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE CAR PLUNGED FORWARD GOING OVER THE CONCRETE BARRIER AND INTO A POLE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THANKFULLY EVERYONE WAS OK. THE OFFICER INVESTIGATING THE CRASH INSISTED THAT MY FOOT MUST HAVE SLIPPED OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT I AM POSITIVELY SURE THAT MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME AS IT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AFTER HITTING THE POLE. WITNESSES TO THE CRASH CONFIRMED THAT I WAS TRAVELING VERY SLOW AS I PULLED IN THE PARKING SPOT AND THAT THEY HEARD THE ENGINE REV AND THE CAR ACCELERATED VERY FAST OVER THE BARRIER AND INTO THE POLE.

AUTO REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT TWO MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BROKEN. NOT REPAIRING THEM COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE DROPPING AND PULLING RADIATOR DOWN WHICH WOULD BE DANGEROUS AND RESULT IN A MORE EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MOTOR MOUNTS ARE NOT A MAINTENANCE ITEM, LIKE BELTS, FOR EXAMPLE. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. OUR 2004 ODYSSEY WENT IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TODAY AND THE TECHNICIAN REPORTED BOTH A FRONT AND A REAR MOTOR MOUNT WAS BAD. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES AND IS USED FOR HAULING KIDS AND GETTING GROCERIES, NOT EXTREME DRIVING AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION, DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION, AND CAUSE HOSES AND WIRES TO COME LOSE. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE EXPECTED LIFE OF SUCH AN ESSENTIAL PART CANNOT POSSIBLY BE LESS THAN 150,000 MILES. IT IS NOT A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PROBLEM, IT IS NOT A CONSUMABLE PART LIKE BRAKES AND HOSES, AND IT'S NOT A MOVING PART LIKE THE TRANSMISSION OR A PULLEY. MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY KEYS HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO OPEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FOR ALMOST A YEAR. A FEW WEEKS AGO I STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY IGNITION. IT'S GETTING HARDER EVERY DAY AND TAKING MORE TIME TO TRICK MY KEY INTO THE IGNITION LOCK. IF I DON'T WIGGLE IT IN PERFECTLY IT WILL GET STUCK HALF WAY IN AND I HAVE TO TRICK IT BACK OUT OF THE LOCK. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an unknown speed and turning a corner, the front driver's side tire suddenly blew out, causing the vehicle to roll a few times, then flip, crashing into a tree where it came to a stop. The air bags did deploy. The driver sustained a fracture to the neck, and he was declared deceased on the scene. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

On 6-14-2022, I installed a full set of these tires - from Costco, Florence, KY ( all four tiers have been installed in Costco ), to prepare to travel with my family from Kentucky to Louisiana. Early morning on 6-22-2022, while driving on the highway with my family, suddenly we lost control of the vehicle, and it started to swing. fortunately, the vehicle stopped on the left shoulder without hitting anything. when we looked outside the vehicle, we found everything is good except the flat tire on the front driver's side. 911 and AAA have been called.

5/6/14 TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL SERVICE STATION FOR DIAGNOSIS OF CLUNKING ENGINE NOISE. HAD TO PAY $1400 TO REPLACE BOTH MOTOR MOUNTS THAT WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT . ALSO HAS TO REPLACE THE OUTER TIE RODS THAT WERE WORN OUT CREATING A COMPLETELY UNSAFE VEHICLE. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, THE D LIGHT WENT BLACK. SUDDENLY IT CAME BACK ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO THE SERVICE STATION AND THEY NOW DIAGNOSED IT WITH THE P0740 CODE TCC LOCKUP SOLENOID. CALLED SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS THAT TOLD ME THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $3500 AND UP. THIS IS VERY DISCERNING THAT THE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T LAST LONGER AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND HONDA REFUSES TO ISSUE THE RECALL ON ALL 2004 TRANSMISSIONS. THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS OUT THERE REFERRING TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST STATING THE VEHICLE IS WAY OUT OF WARRANTY TO ASSIST FINANCIALLY. I HAVE HAD ALL THE SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALER UNTIL THERE WAS AN ISSUE LAST YEAR WITH THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONER THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY FIX AFTER 6 VISITS AND NUMEROUS COOLANT FLUSHES. I AM VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE TREATMENT I HAVE RECEIVED AS A HONDA OWNER. I OWN A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SEATBELT RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT UNDER THE LIFETIME WARRANTY. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING HONDAS MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE. CORPORATE MADE ME JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GATHER MY REGISTRATION INFORMATION FROM 2000! THEY SAID IF I COULD SHOW LOYALTY TO THE BRAND THEY WOULD FIX IT UNDER THE "GOOD WILL PROGRAM." I’ve seen several recalls on the transmission for Honda odysseys that are 2004 just like mine . My transmission has been horrible for the entire time Ive had it. When accelerating, it jumps super hard from 1st into 2nd gear. switching from first gear to 2nd. Sometimes I have to manually switch it into D3 just to get the vehicle moving again. I’ve found this to be pretty scary at times . I’ve searched and searched to see if I had a recall for the transmission and I haven’t but It did show the SRS system recall which I did have serviced. I’m making this complaint because I feel like my vehicle has been affected and overlooked

THE DRIVE (D) LIGHT ON THE GEAR SHIFT STARTED BLINKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I PULLED OVER AND SHIFTED TO PARK, BUT THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO BLINK. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE BLINKING HAD STOPPED. AMERICAN HONDA HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO A 2004 TRANSMISSION-RELATED RECALL, AND THAT IF SO HONDA WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. HOWEVER, IT MUST BE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER, AND HONDA DEALERS CHARGE A $115 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. BOTH THE DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA HAVE TOLD ME THEY CANNOT WAIVE THE FEE. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT THE FEE SHOULD BE WAIVED AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS TO DETERMINE WHETHER HONDA WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE PAINT CONTINUES TO FLAKE OFF EVEN AFTER HONDA OF CONCORD, NC REPAINTED HALF OF THE VEHICLE. 2 YEARS AGO. VEHICLE HAS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED ON DOZENS OF OCCASIONS ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S 9TH BATTERY SINCE 2004. SELLING THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AN OPTION BUT REPLACING IT IS. I OWN HONDA ODESSY SINCE 09/ 2017. I REPLACED TIMING BELT WITH ONE YEAR WARRANTY, BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT DO IT. 12/09/16 I TOOK MY HONDA ODESSY 2004 TO MANHATTAN HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL. I ASKED TO HONDA REPRESENTATIVE TO CHECK AND TELL ME WHAT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE OR REPAIR. I KNEW THAT TRANSMISSION RECALL FOR HONDA ODESSY 2004 WAS OPEN AND TOLD THEM TO CHECK AND REPAIR IT IF IT IS NECESSARY, BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO IT THEY TOLD ME THAT MY HONDA HAS MANY ISSUES AND REPAIR ALL NECESSARY THINGS WILL COST ME $10000. THE FUEL PUMP, TIMING BELT, WHICH I ALREADY REPLACED, AND TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS INCLUDED IN THE REPAIR LIST. LAST MONTH I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR. I CAME HOME AND STARTED RESEARCH AND FOUND THE RECALL FOR HONDA ODESSY FUEL PUMP, FOR HONDA ODESSY THAT WAS BUILT ON AND AFTER 06/21/04 IS ON RECALL FOR FUEL PUMP REPAIR OR REPLACE. MY HONDA ODESSY WAS BUILT 06/2004 I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND CAR IS RUNNING VERY GOOD NOW AND I DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. BECAUSE I HAD THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM AFTER MY CAR WAS ON RECALL, AND BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT FUEL PUMP REPLACE WAS INCLUDED IN RECALL, AND THEY KNEW THAT MY CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM AND DID NOT FIXED IT I AM HEREBY ASKING THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO REIMBURSE MONEY THAT I SPENT ON FUEL PUMP REPAIR $653.03. THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP CAN ILLUMINATE, INDICATING A LOW BRAKE FLUID CONDITION, ALTHOUGH NO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID IS VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. A WORN REAR MASTER CYLINDER SEAL CAN CAUSE FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH WILL CAUSE DIMINISHED BRAKE PERFORMANCE OVER TIME. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE ON 2005-2007 ODYSSEYS, BUT I BELIEVE IT ALSO APPLIES TO 2004 ODYSSEYS.

THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE VAN RESPONDS TO BRAKING. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROCEDURES DONE ON THE BRAKES BY SEVERAL MECHANICS AND IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I USUALLY PUMP THE BRAKES WHEN I AM STOPPING BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND BY DOING THIS, THE BRAKING SYSTEM RESPONDS BETTER. IT HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME LATE AT NIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TCS LIGHT COME ON IN HER 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VAN BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL IT WILL GO NO FASTER THAN 5 MPH. PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHE TURNED OFF THE VAN THEN RESTARTED IT. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE LAST FEW MILES BACK TO OUR HOUSE LUCKILY, AND WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP JUST UP THE STREET SINCE IT COULD NOT MAKE IT MUCH FURTHER. IT TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SHOP CALLED HONDA, KNOWING THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE 2004 ODYSSEY TRANSMISSIONS, BUT HONDA CLAIMED THAT IT DID THE WORK FOR THE RECALL AND HAD NO FURTHER RESPONSIBILITY. I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS. TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH A TRANSMISSION, "FIX" IT WITH A RECALL, AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT ON A VEHICLE WITH UNDER 100,000 MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE. I'VE OWNED HONDAS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. MATTER OF FACT, I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH ANY CAR I'VE OWNED, NO MATTER THE MANUFACTURER. Good Morning, On Monday, September 19, 2022. I talked with Chris from Honda. com. He told me to take the vehicle back to the same repair dealership where I had issues with repairing the vehicle. I said trusting them is hard for me because they had the vehicle 3 different times and the airbags and vehicle are still not repaired. Chris told me " I will call you back later, by the end of this week". As of yet, I have not heard back from Chris at Honda.com thank you. John Phillips. Ps. receipts were previously submitted.

CORROSION WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP WIRING CONNECTOR AND THE FUEL PUMP RETAINING NUT WAS CRACKED / BROKEN. CUSTOMER COMPLAINT WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING, NO START CONDITION. TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE INDICATED THE FUEL PUMP WIRING CONNECTOR WAS FAULTY THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE CONNECTOR WAS CORRODED APPARENTLY FROM MOISTURE. THIS ISSUE IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING THE FAULTY CONNECTION CAN CAUSE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER -> LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP NUT CAN CAUSE GASOLINE FUMES TO ESCAPE CONTAINMENT WHICH MAY LEAD TO AN EXPLOSION / FIRE. IF THE CONNECTOR WAS JIGGLED THE FUEL PUMP WOULD INTERMITTENTLY OPERATE AND OR FAIL. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE THE SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN # 04V42000 OR THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN #04-049, AND REFUSED TO MITIGATE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT OFFERING THE OPTION TO REPAIR THE ISSUE OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL WHICH WOULD COST THE CUSTOMER $454.32 FOR THE FUEL PUMP REPAIR KIT IN ADDITION TO SERVICE FEES OF AT LEAST $374.00. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED-IN AND PRESENTED FOR SERVICE ON JUNE OF 2018. THE HONDA DEALER IS PROVIDING WIRING HARNESS, RETAINING NUT AND GASKET AT A COST TO THE CUSTOMER.

A PASSENGER IN THE CAR WAS BRINGING THE WINDOW DOWN. THE PASSENGER WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR, JUST FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD NOISE. IT WAS THURSDAY, EARLY EVENING, AND I WAS DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD, APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, WHEN THE 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN'S POWER CUT OUT. THE ENGINE WENT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT JUST SUDDENLY CUT OFF FOR NO REASON. I WAS ABLE WITH DIFFICULTY TO STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE IGNITION "OFF" AND CALLED MY HUSBAND THINKING I MIGHT NEED AAA TO COME TOW THE CAR. AFTER THE VAN SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START AGAIN, BUT IT SOUNDED TERRIBLE AND THE ENGINE'S ENGAGEMENT FELT WEAK. I WAS A FEW MILES FROM AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND DECIDED TO SLOWLY DRIVE IT THERE AND LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND THE MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON MY VAN OF WHICH I WAS UNAWARE. I LOOKED UP THE RECALLS ON THE NHTSA SITE THAT HONDA AND ISSUED AND NOTICED THAT MY VAN'S VIN NUMBER WAS IN THE RANGE THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I CALLED LOCAL HONDA DEALERS ABOUT THIS AS WELL AS THE HONDA CORPORATE NUMBER. EACH SAID THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VAN'S VIN WAS IN THE BATCH THAT WAS RECALLED AND EVEN THOUGH THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED WAS THE REASON FOR THE RECALL, THEY DID NOT FEEL OBLIGED TO ASSIST WITH THE VAN'S REPAIR. NEITHER THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER NOR HONDA CORPORATE WOULD GIVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THEY FELT THEY DID NOT NEED TO SHOULDER ANY OF THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT COSTS. ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, THE WINDOW ACTUATOR FAILED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, I PAID TO REPAIR THIS. OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS, ANOTHER 4 ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. ONE OF THEM IS THE LOCK ACTUATOR ON PASSENGER SIDE, SECOND IS THE LOCK ACTUATOR ON LEFT SLIDING DOOR, ANOTHER IS THE WINDOW ACTUATOR ON DRIVER SIDE AND THE ACTUATOR FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK. THE PROBLEMS OF THIS MAGNITUDE ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE WINDOW ACTUATOR ON DRIVER SIDE SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND WAS SCARY AS THE WINDOW JUST FELL INTO THE DOOR. 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURN SIGNAL SWITCH FAIL TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE RELAY SWITCH IN THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD BEGIN TO ACTIVATE WHILE DRIVING PRODUCING AN ELECTRIC ODOR. THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY SWITCH WAS REPLACED AT APPROX 110,000 MILES. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS NOW BEING REPLACED BECAUSE THE IGNITION KEY CANNOT BE INSERTED TO START THE CAR ROUTINELY WITHOUT BEING MANIPULATED. WHEN THIS CAR WAS RELATIVELY NEW AND UNDER WARRANTY THE FAN SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR NOW HAS 150,000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THE STEERING COLUMN ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY SWITCH HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BURN; AND THE IGNITION SWITCH COULD FAIL DURING OPERATION OF THE CAR. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS A DEFECTIVE PART, OR THE PART IS FROM AN A PRIOR RECALL OF 1999 TO 2003 IGNITION SWITCH'S RECALLED BY HONDA THAT WERE USED IN LATER YEAR MODELS. POTENTIALLY, THE 2004 MODELS SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS OF THE IGNITION SWITCHES. *TR

2004 HONDA ODYSSEY ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE LOOSE AND WERE IN DANGER OF COMING OFF THE VEHICLE. *DT THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD SERVICE PERFORMED ON HIS VEHICLE WHERE ALL FOUR WHEELS HAD TO BE REMOVED. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE WHEELS BEING LOOSE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE PEDAL OF THE VEHICLE STARTED ROCKING LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN DEPRESSED, EVEN IF THE VEHICLE WAS IMMOBILE OR AT ANY SPEED. NO WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKE PEDAL ROCKING MOVEMENT WAS NORMAL. PASSENGER AIR BAG IS TURNING OFF FREQUENTLY. THERE IS ALWAYS A STRONG CRACK WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE. THERE IS A DECOLORING PASSENGER AIR BAG PLACE. 1MONTH AGO I OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR ON MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY AND IT PINNED A PUBLIX BAGGER AND SHOPPING CART BETWEEN MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VECHILE. THE DOOR DID NOT STOP AND CONTINIUED TO RAM ITSELF OPEN. THANKFULLY, THE BAGGER WAS NOT INJURED, BUT THE MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT DENTS AND SCRAPES. IN DEC. 2004, WE HAD TAKEN THE VAN IN FOR DOOR PROBLEMS; NOT SHUTTING PROPERLY, STOPPING DURING CLOSING FOR NO REASON ETC. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DOOR'S SAFETY FEATURES, ESPECIALLY REGARDING MY 2 Y/O. THE DEALERSHIP 12/04 & 7/25/05, STATES THAT NO ABNORMALITIES WERE FOUND. I'M VERY CONCERNED AND WILL SEEK LEGAL ADVICE.

MULTIPLE FAILURES. BRAKES PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION, ROUGH IDLE & ENGINE SURGING, STEERING COLUMN CONTROLS AND OTHERS. *BF THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
