MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR 3 WEEKS. IT HAS DAMAGE RELATED TO AN ACTIVE RECALL. THE ENTIRE BACK PART OF THE FRAME IS RUSTED, TO THE POINT THERE IS NO 'MEAT' TO FIX THIS ISSUE. WE ARE NOW GETTING ZERO RESPONSE FROM HONDA OR THE DEALERSHIP, AND NEED ASSISTANCE IN A POSITIVE RESOLUTION. THE HONDA CASE # IS: 10V436000. THIS VEHICLE WHEN TOWED HAD TIRES SEPARATING FROM THE BODY, AND IS WAY BEYOND A PATCH-FIX. I FILLED UP THE TANK, APPARENTLY, THE WEIGHT CAUSED A SEPARATION IN THE FRAME. WHEN STATIONARY, A BACK TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ATTEMPTED TO LOAD THE VEHICLE. THE EXTENT OF FRAME DAMAGE RENDERS THIS UN-FIXABLE...BUT NOW OUR HONDA REP AND OUR DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER WILL NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS. PLEASE HELP!

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS BEYOND REPAIR AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

I TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC LAST WEEK BECAUSE I WAS HAVING TO PUT BRAKE FLUID IN IT. I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD A LEAK. THE MECHANIC CALLED ME BACK AND SAID I WOULDN'T DRIVE THAT CAR ANYMORE. IT HAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION UNDERNEATH. THE FRAME IS BROKE AT LEAST IN ONE SPOT AND THE BACK IS ABOUT TO BREAK INTO AND COME UP THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO DRIVE IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND. I KNOW THAT I LIVE IN A SOMEWHAT WINTRY AREA, BUT I AM FANATICAL ABOUT KEEPING MY CAR CLEANED. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 12 YEARS OLD. MY HUSBAND HAS A SUBARU THAT'S ALMOST 20 YEARS OLD AND HAS 272000 MILES ON IT. ITS NO WHERE NEAR RUSTED LIKE MINE. I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2001-2002 HONDA PASSPORTS FOR THIS REASON BUT YEAR 2000 WASN'T INVOLVED IN THAT. I DEFINITELY THINK THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I WAS TOLD ABOUT A FRAME RECALL ON MY 2000 PASSPORT, I CALLED HONDA DIRECTLY AND ASKED THEM TO END SEND ME 49.00 + TX TO HAVE MY CAR LOOKED AT. I PAID, THEY TELL ME MY CAR DOES FALL UNDER THE RECALL BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS, AND THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. COME TO FIND OUT THE PERSON THAT OWNED MY VEHICLE WAS TOLD BACK IN FEB 2012 THAT THE FRAME WAS BAD, SO THEY TURNED AROUND AND SOLD THE CAR, IT WENT TO AUCTION AND NOT DISCLOSED TO THE PERSON I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM IN MAY 2012. I TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE IT ALIGNED THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT ALIGN THE CAR BECAUSE THE FRAME IN THE FRONT WAS RUSTED AND HAS HOLES IN IT, AND NOW WE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR FRAME WAS FILLED WITH GRAPE FOAM AND COVERED OVER WITH UNDERCOATING THAT COVERED UP THE HOLES IN THE FRAME. WHAT DO I DO, HONDA WILL NOT BACK THIS VEHICLE OR HONOR THE RECALL. I DO NOT HAVE ALOT OF MONEY AND CAN NOT AFFORD TO JUST PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ENSURED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DONE ACCORDING TO THE SAFETY STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 147,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY 2000 HONDA PASSPORT STALLED ON ME ONE THURSDAY MORNING AND CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO FIND OUT IF THE PROBLEM IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I WAS INSTRUCTED BY AMERICAN HONDA TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED FOR ANY MECHANICAL FAILURE AND GIVEN A CASE# FOR THIS INCIDENT. I RECEIVED A CALL THE FOLLOWING DAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH REGARDS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'S A BROKEN TRANSMISSION SEAL THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL AND I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATED WORK ORDER OF $385. I FOLLOWED UP WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND INFORMED THEM OF THE SITUATION DOWN TO ME RENTING A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE IT'S BEING REPAIRED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY ARE GOING TO EVALUATE THE PROBLEM AND WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR IF IT FALLS WITHIN THEIR "SAID" GUIDELINES. SO I WENT AHEAD AND PAID FOR THE ORDER 2 DAYS LATER FOR $333.44 AND $13.34 OF WHICH IS THE COST OF THE PART AND THE REST IS THE DEALERSHIP'S LABOR COST (RIDICULOUS) NOT TO MENTION $27.72/DAY FOR MY CAR RENTAL FOR 2 DAYS. MONDAY CAME AND I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AMERICAN HONDA STATING THAT THEY DID A FOLLOW UP ON THE REPAIR AND THEY DECIDED THAT THE REPAIR COST WERE NOT CONSIDERED "PRE-MATURE DEFECT" THAT I DO NOT QUALIFY FOR A REIMBURSEMENT FROM AMERICAN HONDA.*AK

I BOUGHT A NEW HONDA PASSPORT 2000 IN SEPTEMBER, 2000. AFTER THREE AND A HALF YEARS, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED LEAKING AND THE CAR SHOOK WHILE AUTOMATICALLY CHANGING GEAR. I SENT IT TO A HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT IT STILL LEAKED AND SHOOK AFTER THE REPAIR. I THEN SENT IT TO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE SHOP SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MADE BY GM, AND THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION HAD A LONG HISTORY OF DEFECTIVENESS. IT NEEDED TO BE OVERHAULED. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED. I BOUGHT THE HONDA BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE OTHER BRAND OF ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, BUT HONDA PUT GMC TRANSMISSION IN THEIR CAR, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH AND SOMEONE PULLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME REQUIRING ME TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES. I HEARD SOMETHING SNAP OR BREAK IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. I HAD READ ABOUT A BUYOUT PROGRAM. THE REP SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY GOOD FOR TWO YEARS AND HAD EXPIRED, THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO TO HELP ME. I AM THE 2ND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION EVERYWHERE OTHER THAN THE REAR FRAME. I HAD NO IDEA HOW BAD THE RUST WAS UNDER THE VEHICLE IN THE REAR. I BOUGHT THE SUV 1 YEAR AGO IN AUGUST FOR $2700 WITH 121,000 MILES. I TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF IT & ON 10/3/13 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A HIGHWAY WHICH WAS A 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT. THE UNDERSIDE FRAME OF MY 2000 HONDA PASSPORT IS SO RUSTED, A SWAY BAR CONNECTED TO THE AXLE BROKE FREE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC AND BY A HONDA DEALER THAT THE RUST IS SO BAD, THERE IS NOTHING TO ATTACH THE SWAY BAR TO. THE BAR ATTACHED TO THE FRAME (WHICH THIS SWAY BAR IS ATTACHED TO) WAS FIXED IN THE RECALL 1.5 YEARS AGO. IT IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE FRAME, SO HONDA WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE OR GIVE ME COMPENSATION FOR MY CAR. I BELIEVE IT IS ALL RELATED AND THE RECALL DID NOT WORK TO FIX THE SUSPENSION ISSUES. MY HONDA DEALER BASICALLY TOLD ME I HAD TO DEAL WITH CORPORATE AND TO COME PICK UP THE CAR. I WAS SHOCKED BY THIS AS THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN MY WIFE PRESSED THE SERVICE MANAGER, HE THEN SAID THE CAR SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. AS FOR THE RECALL, MY HONDA DEALER WROTE DOWN THE WRONG VIN NUMBER ON MY INVOICE, SO THEY THOUGHT THE CAR WAS A 1999 PASSPORT. IF YOU READ THE RECALL, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE ON HOW THE DEALER SHOULD HANDLE A 10 YEAR OLD CAR VERSUS AN 11 YEAR OLD CAR. ACCORDING TO HONDA CORPORATE, THIS WOULD NOT ACTUALLY AFFECT HOW MY CAR WAS FIXED BY THE RECALL. BUT IT GETS BETTER. THE RECALL WORK WAS SUBBED OUT TO A 3RD PARTY FOR A STAGE 3 REPAIR. NO ONE AT CORPORATE OR THE DEALER WILL TELL ME IF THIS WAS AUTHORIZED BY CORPORATE, AS SOMEONE AT THE NHTSA TOLD ME WAS PROPER PROTOCOL. AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NO ONE AT THE DEALERSHIP, WHEN THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE, TOLD ME HOW BAD THE UNDERSIDE OF MY CAR WAS. DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE SRS LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL 02V080000. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEALER ON 9-30-05, AND THEY DIAGNOSED CODE 15.3 (ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE) WHICH WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE CODE WAS CLEARED. THE CONTACT WAS CHARGED $110.00. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA AGAIN AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. HONDA SAID THAT THEY WOULD OPEN UP A CASE FOR HER TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT. SYSTEM FAILURE WITH AIRBAGS. VEHICLE HAS A SELF-MONITORING SYSTEM (SRS) WHICH IDENTIFED A SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE AIRBAGS. WE WERE NOT INVLOVED IN A CRASH BUT WERE INFORMED THAT IF WE WERE THAT THE BAGS WOULD FAIL TO WORK. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO WARRANT AND I PERSONALLY HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS FOR MY OWN SAFETY CONCERNS.

HONDA CORPORATION CONTACTED/HONDA UNWILLING TO ACCEPT FAULT. SPOKE WITH ELLEN AT 1-800-999-1009. ISSUED CLAIM #N012001-11-2601219 ON 11-16-2001. ROSS AT HONDA TECH LINE STATED THAT THIS CONDITION COULD NOT HAPPEN DUE TO RUNDUNDANT SENSORS IN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. ON BOTH OCCATIONS THE VEHICLE ACCLERATED ON OWN. GAS GAUGE IS NOT READING CORRECTLY. GAS TANK HOLDS 21.2 GALLONS, YET WHEN THE GAUGE READS 1/4, IT ONLY TAKES 8 GALLONS TO FILL. DO A 360 TURN, THE GAUGE GOES FROM AN INDICATED 1/2 FULL TO EMPTY, THEN LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. AS I STRAIGHTEN OUT THE GAUGE TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO RECOVER. THE CD PLAYER IS INTERMITTENT. IT'S NOT SKIPPING LIKE A NORMAL CD-ROM SKIP, INSTEAD WE GET AN ERROR 3 OR ERROR 1 ON THE DISPLAY. WHEN THIS OCCURS DURING A SONG THE MUSIC STOPS COMING OUT OF THE SPEAKERS BUT WHEN MUSIC DOES START UP AGAIN IT IS AT THE SAME POINT IT WOULD BE IF THE SONG WERE PLAYING. FOR EXAMPLE, IF A SONG HAS JUST STARTED AND THE SPEAKERS GO QUIET FOR 15 SECONDS, THE SONG CONTINUES FROM THAT POINT ONWARD. SOME DISKS JUST STOP AND JAM. WE ARE HAVING A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA CORPORATION. I HAVE TAKEN MY 2000 HONDA PASSPORT IN FOR MANY VISITS AT LEAST 6. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING.*AK THIS WEEK ALONE I WAS ALMOST HIT THREE TIMES. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK TODAY AND WAS TURNING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND WAS ALMOST SLAMMED INTO. I HAVE BEEN CALLING TELLING THEM THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN MANY TIMES THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW THINGS DONE OR THERE WAS NOTHING FOUND. EVERY SINGLE TIME WE GET THE CAR BACK EITHER IMMEDIATELY OR SOON THEREAFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. WE SPOKE WITH THE CORPORATE OFFICE THEY TOOK DOWN THE INFORMATION HAD US BRING THE CAR IN AND THEN KEPT IT FOR A SIX DAYS. WHEN WE GOT THE CAR BACK WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUT OFF AGAIN. WE ARE IN A LEASE AGREEMENT AND AT THE END OF THE YEAR 2004 WE CAN TRY TRADE IT IN. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT BUT A CAR THAT IS GOING TO CAUSE MY DEATH IS HORRIBLE. I CALLED IN TO SHOWCASE HONDA AND SPOKE TO JAIME WHO ONLY WANTED US TO BRING THE CAR BACK. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON THE 5TH OF JULY 2013. TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND NOTICED A BADLY DEFECTIVE TIRE ON THE RIGHT REAR AND THAT THE BRAKES WERE HAVING ISSUES WHICH INCLUDED POOR STOPPING AND A VIBRATION IN THE BACK. I GOT DOWN ON MY HANDS AND KNEES TO LOOK AT THE TIRE AND THEN NOTICED LARGE ROTTED HOLES IN FRAME BY TIRES. I THEN LAID ON MY BACK AND NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS ROTTED OUT FROM FRONT TO BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE BRACKETS WERE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRAME, WHICH WAS CONNECTED TO THE BRACKETS, WAS SEVERELY RUSTED, CORRODED, AND SHOWED SIGNS OF BREAKAGE. WE PURCHASED A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY IN FEB. WE WERE DRYING IN SNOW AND ICE ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER. THE VAN SLID AROUND AND WAS FACING A DROP-OFF. I HAD TO KEEP IT IN GEAR TO KEEP IT FROM SLIDING.
