The vehicle had been diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the rear sub frame was extremely rusted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to replace the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE, IF NOT REMEDIED, WOULD CAUSE THE FUEL TANK TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 122,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

ON JUNE 18, 2015, WHILE ON THE BRAKE AND STOPPING BEHIND A VEHICLE AT AN INTERSECTION (MOVING AT A CRAWL SPEED, LESS THAN 0.5 MPH), MY HONDA PASSPORT LUNGED FORWARD HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR WAS CONTAINED THE DRIVER AND A PASSENGER. BELIEVING AT THAT TIME MY BRAKES JUST FAILED (I COULDN'T GRASP HOW ACCELERATION AND FORWARD MOVEMENT COULD OCCUR WHEN I WAS FIRMLY ON MY BRAKES), I HAD MY BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED. ON JUNE 29, 2015 IN A PARKING SPACE, WHILE I WAS AT A CRAWL SPEED (LESS THAN 0.5 MPH) AND ON THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AGAIN, GOING TO THE NEXT PARKING SPACE AND HITTING A PARKED CAR. THE VEHICLE ENGINE SURGED AS THOUGH I WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND MY FOOT WAS ONLY ON THE BRAKE. THANK GOODNESS NOBODY WAS IN THE PARKED VEHICLE, NOBODY WAS BETWEEN THE TWO VEHICLES, AND ONLY BODY DAMAGE RESULTED FROM THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.

REAR TRAILING ARM FELL OFF OF THE FRAME DUE TO MAJOR CORROSION. WE HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL #10V-436. SERVICE DEPT STATED THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH THEREFORE THEY HAD NOTHING TO ATTACH THE RECALL BRACKET TO. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE FOR THE ENTIRE FRAME NOT JUST THE BRACKET. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A FEW DAYS AGO. TODAY HE TOOK IT IN TO GET A TUNE UP AND OIL CHANGE. WHEN THE MECHANIC HAD THE CAR LIFTED HE RECOGNIZED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF CRACKS/RUST FRAME. THE PLASTIC GAS TANK IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT OF THE METAL CASING THAT SURROUNDS IT, IT IS ALMOST COMPLETELY ATE AWAY. THERE IS ALSO A FRAME CRACK DUE TO RUST ON THE PASSENGER REAR FRAME BEHIND THE REAR TIRE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT WE NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED DUE TO OUR SAFETY. I TOOK IT TO HONDA FOR THE RECALL, WHICH SERVICE BULLETIN 10-079 STATES HONDA WILL PAY FOR VEHICLES LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL (SEPT 2010)), AND THEY DETERMINED THE DAMAGE WAS SO BAD THAT THEY WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2001 HONDA, ODYSSEY IN MAY OF 2001. AS OF TODAY, MAY 2005, I AM PRESENTLY AWAITING MY 5TH TRANSMISSION TO BE PUT IN THE VAN. MY CAR MEETS ALL OF THE ELEMENTS NECESSARY TO QUALIFY AS LEMON UNDER THE CALIFORNIA CIVIL CODE, AND AMERICAN HONDA REFUSES TO BUY BACK THE CAR. THEY PREFER TO BE SUED. I PAID $32,000.00 FOR THIS VAN, AND THEY WILL NOT DO THE DECENT THING. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA AGAIN.

THE CAR HAS A "HARD SHIFT" GOING UP FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND BACK DOWN PERIODICALLY. IT IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD CLUNK, LOSS OF POWER, A JERKING OF THE CAR AND OCCASIONALLY A GROWLING SOUND IN THE FRONT END. DIAGNOSTICS ON THE COMPUTER IS NEGATIVE, ONLY ONCE HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, BUT THE CAR HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN 4 WEEKS WITH NO APPARENT LEAK. IT HAS DONE THIS ONLY ONCE FOR A MECHANIC AND THEY RECOMMENDED REMOVING AND REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION. AMERICAN HONDA-CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. IT WAS THERE TODAY BUT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, EXCEPT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LOW AGAIN. THIS CAR IS A 2001 AND HAS 40,800 MILES. WE HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AND THE SERPENTINE BELT REPLACED- BOTH VERY UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH SO FEW MILES.*AK

IN DECEMBER 2002, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SLIP INTO FIRST GEAR FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN I WOULD HAVE TO SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK WOULD JERK INTO FIRST GEAR. ALSO, WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE, ONCE I SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO DRIVE, IT WOULD TAKE 8-10 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR WOULD SLIP INTO FIRST GEAR. JANUARY 4, 2003, I TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING AND THEY SERVICED THE TRANSMISSION, TELLING ME THAT I WAS LOW ON FLUID, BUT THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY APPARENT OR VISIBLE PROBLEMS. I DID NOT HAVE ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK UNTIL FEBRUARY 5TH OR 6TH, WHEN THE JERKING BEGAN AGAIN. ON FEBRUARY 10, 2002, ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK I STARTED THE TRUCK AND IT TOOK ABOUT 20 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO SLIP INTO FIRST GEAR. THEN AS I WAS GOING 55-60 MILES AN HOUR UP AN INCLINE ON A MAJOR EXPRESSWAY, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND BEGAN TO MAKE A "MOANING" NOISE AND THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT HAD EVER COME ON. I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID BEING HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK THAT WAS BEHIND ME. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN AN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT I COULD NOT ACCELRATE OVER 20 MILES AN HOUR. I SLOWLY DROVE TO THE NEAREST EXIT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS 3 QUARTS LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THAT THE CAUSE WAS THAT THE ACCUMALATOR IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER IN SANTA ANA CALIFORNIA TO PLAN TO BRING THE CAR TO THEM ON SATURDAY WHEN I COULD BE OFF FROM THE WORK. PRIOR TO 1ST INCIDENT, NOTICED SPONGY NON-RESPONSIVE BRAKES AT ALL SPEEDS. AS THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKE DISTANCE INCREASED. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE ENGINE DIED, LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES (LOST VACUUM TO BOOSTER.) THE #1 INTAKE LIFTER BUTTON POPPED OUT AND THE CAM LOBE HAMMERED THE LIFTER AND VALVE INTO THE #1 CYLINDER CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. A FEW YEARS BACK MY TRAILING LINKAGE ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE RUSTED AWAY FROM FRAME. THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS FIRST AND I WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH. HIT POT HOLE AND DRIVERS SIDE LINKAGE BROKE OFF. 2001 HONDA PASSPORT EXL ISUZU MFG IN AUG 2000. PURCHASED USED IN NOV 2004, WAS LEASED TO 1 PERSON, THEN AT END OF LEASE AUCTIONED TO PLACE I BOUGHT FROM. FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. EXHAUST FLANGE REPLACED 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE FUEL INDICATOR GOES WACKY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON. 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE ENGINE DIES, INTERCOOLER WAS CULPRIT, ONLY 76,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION WAS FOUND TO HAVE A LEAK, THE RIGHT SERVO RUBBER SEAL WAS REPLACE. EXHUAST HAS LEAK AT OR UP TO Y PIPE AREA. SOMETHING UNDERNEATH IS CRACKED SEVERLY. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX PROBLEMS WHEN FIRST PURCHASED AND STILL REFUSES TO OFFER FINANCIAL RELIEF. WARRANTY CO. AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTE ARE JUST AS UNCARING. IT SEEMS THAT MY HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND ONLY BRIGHT WHEN I USE MY HIGH BEAMS. MY HONDA SEEMS TO CUT OFF BY ITSELF AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT SEEMS NOT TO REPLICATE ITS ACTIONS FOR THEM. IT SEEMS THAT MY CAR WILL ACT AS IF IT IS STALLING SOMETIMES AND THEN WILL NOT TURN OVER. I HAVE HAD MY STARTER CHECKED AND THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE SO THE MECHANIC STATED. IT SEEMS THAT MY DEFROSTER DOESN'T WORK AT THE NORMAL TIME THAT IT SHOULD TAKE TO DEFROST. IT TAKES AT LEAST 30 MINUTES TO CLEAR. I HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE REAR SEAT WITH PASSENGERS GETTING OUT OF THE LEFT PASSENGER SEAT BELT. IT SEEMS TO GET STUCK. AND THERE ARE NO OTHER ARTICLES IN THE SNAP TO CAUSE THAT. MY SRS AND ABS LIGHT SEEMS TO STAY ON FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. THEN WHILE DRIVING MY CAR AND APPLYING BREAKS IT SEEMS THAT THE CAR STILL CONTINUES TO SLIDE, IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON 9-13-04. I HAVE TAKEN THE BRAKES TO GET CHECKED. PROBLEMS THAT CONTINUE TO EXIST ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1- MILES PER GALLON ARE FAR BELOW WHAT WAS INDICATED. IN SUCH A SPIRALING COST PER GALLON ENVIRONMENT, USAGE OF GAS IT 30% TO 50% GREATER THAN THE MANUFACTURER SAYS. I BELIEVE THIS IS DECEPTIVE 2- THE "ENGINE WARNING LIGHT" HAS GONE ON SEVERAL TIMES. THIS LAST TIME THE HONDA DEALER SAYS IT IS A SPECIAL "BACKORDERED" ITEM THAT MAY FIX BOTH THE MPG ISSUE AS WELL AS THE "WARNING" ISSUE. THE QUESTION THAT COULD NOT BE ANSWERED WAS, IT IS HARMFUL TO THE CAR OR A DANGER TO ME DRIVING THE CAR. 3- DURING A RECENT ICE STORM MY CAR BUMPED A TELEPHONE POLE AND IT SHATTERED THE BUMPER. THE SPEED COULD NOT HAVE EXCEEDED 2 TO 3 MPH. THE ENTIRE BUMBER HAS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE EXTENSIVENESS OF THE DAMAGE....COST ~$1000.00. 4- UPON EVALUATING THE ABOVE ISSUE THE REPAIR SPECIALIST (AN INDEPENDENT CAR REPAIR PERSON) ASKED IF I KNEW THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT A HONDA BUT AN ISUZU. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS DURING MY PURCHASE!!! AN ISSUE I CONSIDER TO BE DECEPTIVE AS THIS WILL CONSTITURE MY FOURTH OR FIFTH "HONDA". I WAS LED TO BELIEVE I WAS, AGAIN, PURCHASING A "HONDA". NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ME WITH THE ABOVE ISSUES. MY WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS NOW SINCE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER.
