TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 INFINITI QX4. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT HOUSING WAS RUSTED AND CRACKED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ALERTED HER OF A RECALL FOR THE STRUT HOUSING AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V244000 (STEERING, SUSPENSION) AT FIELDS INFINITI GLENCOE (2100 FRONTAGE RD, GLENCOE, IL 60022 (847) 998-5200). THE DEALER STATED THAT A PLATE WAS INSTALLED ON THE STRUT HOUSING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT IT LOOKED LIKE NO REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH INDEPENDENT MECHANICS INFORMED HER THAT A PLATE NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED IN THE STRUT HOUSING, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CARFAX REPORT FAILED TO IDENTIFY THE REPAIR OR FAILURE TO THE STRUT HOUSING. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 124,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 INFINITI QX4. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT WITNESSED AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE STRUT AREA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL BANGING NOISE WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON SATURDAY. AFTER LEAVING THE SERVICE STATION AND DRIVING HOME THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I TRIED BREAKING BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER BARELY MISSING TWO VEHICLES AND UNABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, I TURNED OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND KILLED THE IGNITION. My issues are related to the SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 1997-2003 QX4 IN SALT STATES FRONT STRUT HOUSING CORROSION. I brought my car in for the recall at Infiniti of Bloomington, Minnesota and they only fixed the Driver’s side strut housing using a brace but only painted the Passenger’s side. Now the Passenger’s side strut housing shows corrosion and some perforation but repairable still under the recall. As of today 01/23/2023 The dealer and Infiniti refused to do recall on passenger’s side despite the car is not safe to drive. They knowingly know the passenger’s side will corrode but still let me drive the car with the defective which they refuse to fix.

EXTENSIVE RUST AND DECAY IS FOUND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRAME WHERE THE LOWER CONTROL ARM CONNECTS. THIS IS JUST BELOW THE STRUT HOUSING AND IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE FRONT WHEEL WELL. I HAVE ATTACHED BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE PHOTOS AS THE DEFECT ONLY APPEARS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.

I WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH ON A SUBURBAN STREET. THE POLICE OFFICER WHO ASSISTED TOLD US THAT WE WERE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. FLETCHER JONES/CHICAGO WHERE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NO LONGER HANDLES INFINITI SO THE CAR WAS INSPECTED AT INFINITI OF LISLE, ILL. ALTHOUGH THESE WHEELS ARE THE ORIGINAL WHEELS PURCHASED ON THE VEHICLE, THEY CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY AND HAVE REPORTED ALL THREE OTHER WHEELS IN DANGER OF THE SAME FAILURE. I HAVE SOUGHT THE ASSISTANCE OF INFINITI'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL SPECIALISTS AND HAVE E-MAILED THEIR CORPORATE HDQRTRS OFFERING PHOTOS AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER. BY INFINIT'S OWN ADMISSION THESE WHEELS COULD FAIL ON MY OR ANY OTHER INIFINITI VEHICLE IN THE MARKETPLACE AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEIR REGIONAL SAFETY SPECIALIST REFUSED TO REVIEW THE PHOTOS AND FELT A FINAL, INFORMED DETERMINATION HAD BEEN MADE. CONSIDERING THAT UPON INFINITI'S INSPECTION, ALL FOUR WHEELS COULD FAIL, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND MERITS THE ATTENTION OF YOUR ORGANIZATION. *TR

WHILE DRIVING OVER AN HOUR OR MORE THAN 80 MILES, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM PASS GEAR DOWN TO 3 GEAR. IT WOULD SOUND LIKE ITS SLIPPING. HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE 5,000 MILES SUV HAS 100,000 INFINITY DOESN'T WANT TO COVER IT. NOW FIRST AND 4TH DOESN'T WORK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 INFINITI QX4. ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS SHOT BACK OUT AT LEAST TWO FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2007, WHERE IT CURRENTLY REMAINS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING INTO A GARAGE AT 5-10 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE CRASHING THROUGH THE CONTACT'S HOUSE. DURING THE INCIDENT THE CONTACT HAD BRAKE FAILURE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WAS FRONTAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP FOR THE NECESSARY BODY REPAIRS.
