The manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The approximate failure mileage was 159,086.

I got in an accident with a car who ran a stop sign when I didn't have one. I was going approximately 15-20mph and my entire front end collided with their passenger side. My air bags did not go off at all.

We received the enclosed NHTSA notice about a vehicle repair that is need for a recall. However we no longer own this vehicle. We sold the vehicle in 2018 or 2019 and transferred the pink slip to the new owner. We have no way to contact him and he is responsible for the vehicle now. So we are just notifying you that we cannot take any action on this.

SUDDEN VEHICLE ACCELERATION: THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THIS CAR. THE FIRST TIME IT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THAT WAS REPORTED IN NHTS COMPLAINT # 10405593 ON 6/ 6/ 11. THE SECOND TIME AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED(ALSO HAPPENED WHILE PARKING) IN 2013. THIS THIRD TIME I WAS AGAIN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT BOTH OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN UNINTENDED INCREASE IN RPMS AND ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO BREAK BUT NOT BEFORE HITTING HARD AND GOING OVER THE PARKING BUMPER IN THE PARKING GARAGE. AS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA AND THEY TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY AND SAID ALL WAS OK(ON 12/12/14). I WANT TO DOCUMENT THIS INCIDENT IN CASE A FUTURE INCIDENT RESULTS IN A FATALITY OR SERIOUS INCIDENT FOR WHICH TOYOTA WOULD BE LIABLE.

MY 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA SUDDENLY HAD ENGINE PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING, MAKING A HORRIBLE METALLIC CLANKING AS THE CAR STALLED. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT PIECES OF THE ENGINE LITERALLY BROKE APART AS IF THE METAL WAS FATIGUED. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT EXPLAIN HOW THIS HAPPENED WITH ONLY 117,000 MILES ON THE CAR. IT TOOK OVER A MONTH TO FIND A USED ENGINE AND SCRAPE TOGETHER THE MONEY NEEDED FOR REPAIRS. CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY. VERY SUDDENLY IT STARTED MAKING THIS HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE. I WENT TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED. I DID NOT HIT THE BRAKES YET AND WAS GLAD I WAS GOING SLOW. TRANSMISSION IS BLOWN WITH NO WARNING, NO LEAKS, AND NO NOISE EXCEPT AT THE LAST FEW MINUTES. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED.

MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION FAILED THIS EVENING. FORTUNATELY I WAS ONLY AN EIGHTH OF A MILE FROM HOME AND WAS ABLE TO USE MY MOMENTUM TO SAFELY GET OFF THE ROAD. I HEARD A LOUD POP, THEN THE CLUTCH BEGAN TO GRIND HORRIFICALLY. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP, BUT UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF NEUTRAL. THE FRONT AXLE IS COMPLETELY SIEZED, AND THE CAR IS INOPERABLE. I HAD THE CAR FLATBEDED TO MY MECHANIC, THE FLAT BED DRIVER HAD TO WINCH THE VEHICLE ON TO THE TRUCK. MY MECHANIC TOOK ONE LOOK AND INFORMED ME THAT I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND MANUEL TRANSMISSION AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2003 AND 2004 TOYOTA COROLLAS. WHY WAS NO RECALL OR CONSUMER NOTICE ISSUED FOR THIS MANUAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE? I HAD MY COWORKER IN THE CAR AS WELL.

THE CAR WAS A 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH STANDARD TRANSMISSION THAT HAD ~138,500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING SOUND AS I SWITCHED INTO 4TH GEAR. THE RATTLING SOUND GOT WORSE AS I DROVE HOME FROM WORK, SO I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT MORNING. HE DROVE IT HIMSELF AND SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO A LOOSENED BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS NOT WORTH REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION ON A CAR THAT OLD SO I HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE. THE CAR WAS 10 YEARS OLD WITH SIGNIFICANT MILEAGE, BUT TOYOTA COROLLAS SHOULD LAST FOR MUCH LONGER THAN THIS. ALSO, I READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY 2004 TOYOTAS WERE HAVING TRANSMISSIONS FAIL PREMATURELY BECAUSE OF BEARINGS COMING LOOSE. *TR

THE 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL FILLER NECK. THE METAL USED BY TOYOTA FOR THIS FUEL FILLER NECK IS CORRODING, CAUSING LEAKAGE OF GAS VAPORS AT THE GAS CAP. THE LEAKAGE CAUSES THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" TO COME ON, AND PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO PAY TOYOTA $400 FOR REPAIRS IN ORDER TO PASS EPA MANDATED EMISSIONS TESTING IN ORDER TO RENEW THE CAR'S REGISTRATION. IT IS CLEAR THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK IS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT THE REPLACEMENT ONES HAVE BETTER QUALITY METAL AND WON'T CORRODE. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO PRESSURE TOYOTA TO RECALL THE COROLLAS AND TO REIMBURSE THE OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PAY FOR THIS DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL FILLER NECKS. THE SERPENTINE BELT CAME OUT FROM THE PULLEYS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ALTERNATOR BROKE LOOSE FROM THE TOP ANCHOR BOLT. UPON EXAMINATION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS ANCHORED AND FASTENED ONLY BY ONE TOP BOLT. THE SECOND ANCHORING BOLT (LOWER END) WAS NOT PLACED THROUGH THE BOLT HOLE BECAUSE OF AN INTERFERENCE OF 0.11". THE LOOSENED SERPENTINE BELT CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO CEASE ITS FUNCTION AND CAN POTENTIALLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I have been unable to have my dealer repair the recalls on this car despite repeated times calling up Toyota and dealing with Larry H Miller Toyota dealership. They refuse to give me a replacement car while they fix it and won't say how long it will take. I also discovered that there are no child seat anchors in the back. I was told this is unlawful given the date of this car's manufacture. I hope NHTSA will help force Toyota to fix these recalls and install car seat anchors and give em a replacement vehicle to drive to work and for children while they fix it.

SOMETIMES, DRIVER-SIDE SEAT BELT GETS STUCK WHILE RETRACTING IT FROM THE ANCHOR POINT. I HAD TO TRY TWICE OR THRICE BEFORE THE SEAT BELT RETRACT SMOOTHLY FROM THE ANCHOR POINT. MY TOYOTA COROLLA LE (CAR) COMPLETELY LOSES POWER AND SHUTS DOWN RANDOMLY. IT HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. DURING ONE OCCASION IT SHUT DOWN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS INCIDENT ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE AS WELL AS TWO OF MY CHILDREN (WHO ARE ADULTS). IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A LOT OF TRAFFIC CAUSING A SEMI TRUCK TO MISS US BY INCHES. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS ON STREETS AND IN PARKING LOTS. THE CAR IS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR'S ENGINE TESTED (THE BUSINESS THAT TESTED IT IS NOW OUT OF BUSINESS). THE TEST REVEALED THAT IT WAS A COIL PACK THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I HAD THE COIL PACK REPLACED BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT IT IS STILL UNKNOWN WHY MY VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN RANDOMLY. BELOW IT ASKS FOR A DATE WHEN THIS OCCURS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP KING AUTOMALL IN MASON, OH FOR AN AIRBAG RECALL AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY CAR UP ON THE LIFT RUSTING THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM OFF OF MY CAR ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS VEHICLES. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHY WAS THEY UNDER MY CAR THE DEALERSHIP REPLIED THAT IT WAS SOMEONE'S ELSE CAR. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT IT WAS MY CAR BECAUSE IT HAD MY LICENSE PLATE. A 205/55/R16 tire exploded when I was driving on the freeway at 9:15 am. I had driven less than 3 miles. The tire that exploded had less than 16,000 miles. I didn't run over an object or I would have also punctured my front tire too. At the time of the explosion I didn't know what happened, but heard a loud noise that I thought was from a car next to me. Once both cars moved ahead of me, I realized the loud noise was coming from under my car. I then was able to pull to the side of the freeway. Once I pulled over I saw the tire had exploded. I took photos of the tire and took both parts to the tire shop where my tires are under warranty. I had inspected my tires the prior Monday, two days prior and didn't see an issue with any of the tires. I've never had a tire blowout before. The tire shop threw the tire away even though I asked for a report of the incident to appropriate entities. The tire shop told me the tire was under inflated or that I hit a road hazard but couldn't prove that's what caused the explosion. Also the tire shop did not show me where a road hazard penetrated the tire. In the past if a tire had run over an object this tire shop would show me the object. I have 3 of the same tires on my car which I don't trust because my tire exploded without warning.

This complaint concerns two separate incidents, both involving defective interior door handles. First, in 2023, the driver side driver door handle broke abruptly when the driver attempted to exit the vehicle. As a result, the driver, [XXX] , was trapped in the vehicle and required someone else to let him out from the outside. This was repaired privately at substantial cost to the owner. Then, the exact same thing happened to the passenger side front seat interior door handle in January 2025. The handle mechanism seems to be made of cheap plastic and seems to have broken, preventing the passenger from exiting the vehicle at all and leaving them effectively trapped in the front seat. This has been a major issue recently when transporting family members to the hospital, as time was lost when they tried to get out of the driver side passenger door and found that the door handle mechanism was inoperable. THE FRAME ALONG THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OBSTRUCTS VISION, CAUSING THE DRIVER NOT TO SEE WELL. THE DRIVER WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK THE VIEW WAS OBSTRUCTED FOR VEHICLES TO THE RIGHT, THE REAR SEAT HEADRESTS BLOCKED THE VIEW IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AS WELL AS WHEN LOOKING BACK TO CHANGE LANES OR BACK UP. THE CONSUMER HAD TO REMOVE THE REAR HEADRESTS TO AVOID PROBLEMS. WHEN THE REAR WINDOWS WERE OPENED 1/2 TO FULL, THERE WAS A TUNNEL TYPE OF SENSATION AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WOULD BE AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN NEEDING TO TURN LEFT, THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO GET A CLEAR VIEW OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WAS A SPAN OF TIME WHEN THE VEHICLES WERE COMPLETELY BLOCKED BY THE FRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT AND DISTANCE OF THE SEAT POSITION, BUT WAS LIMITED DUE TO HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS. OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY 45 DAYS AGO (AUG. 27, 2003) I PURCHASED A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRAY SOLARA. THE AUTO IS EQUIPPED WITH A LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM. ON DAY ONE, THE SYSTEM ALERTED ME OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT IT WAS FIXED. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, I NOTICED MOISTURE CONDENSATION ON THE INSIDE. I TURNED ON THE AC AND IT DISAPPEARED. FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE LOW PRESSURE INDICATOR WAS ON AND I AGAIN RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED THE TIRES, INFORMED ME THAT ALL THE TIRES MUST HAVE THE SAME PRESSURE, AND SHOWED ME THE RESET SWITCH UNDER THE DASH. A WEEK LATER, AFTER A RAIN STORM, THE CAR CARPETS WERE WET. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND AFTER A DAY, THE CAR WAS RETURNED AND I WAS ADMONISHED TO ENSURE THAT I DIDN'T LEAVE THE CAR WINDOWS OPEN. AT THE END OF THAT WEEK, THERE WAS ANOTHER HEAVY RAIN STORM AND MY CAR REMAINED PARKED FOR THAT ENTIRE WEEKEND, "WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED." ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, I ENTERED THE CAR AND ONCE AGAIN, THE FLOOR MATS WERE SOAKED AND THERE WAS A MUSTY/MOLDY SMELL IN THE CAR. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY (9/15) I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME, AFTER A DAY, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A REPORTED PROBLEM OF WATER LEAKING AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO RETURN THE CAR LATER IN THE WEEK TO HAVE THE DASHBOARD REMOVED AND THE LEAKING PART REPLACED/REPAIRED. I have repaired all the safety recalls on my 2004 Toyota Corolla S. However, I just had another warning signal for the seatbelt/airbag today. Since this has been a recall previously, can I have the dealer look at the car and repair again? I wouldn't think the airbags/seatbelt warning would come back so fast after being repaired for the recall. Please advise. Thank you.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAS MADE NOISE WHEN LOWERED AND RAISED SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN 2004. IN 2008, WE HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL ON 2003-04 MATRIX VEHICLES FOR DEFECTS WITH THE FRONT DOOR GLASS BOLT (WE ALSO HAVE A 2003 COROLLA, AND RECOGNIZED THAT THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED FOR THE COROLLA MATCHED THE PROBLEM WE WERE HAVING WITH THE MATRIX). WE TOOK OUR CAR IN 2008 TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DISTRIBUTOR, WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW, BUT WERE TOLD THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO OUR MATRIX, BECAUSE THE MATRIX VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE NOISE WHEN USING THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW CONTINUED TO BECOME MORE PRONOUNCED SINCE 2008, AND NOW THE NOISE HAS BECOME SO LOUD THAT WE ARE CONCERNED THE WINDOW WILL BREAK IF LOWERED. I'VE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER, AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN/WILL DO, BECAUSE THE CAR'S VIN INDICATES THAT IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. IF WE WANT TOYOTA TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PROBLEM TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT MIGHT BE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER SAID THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TOYOTA FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE WINDOW MAKES THE LOUD CLUNKING SOUND AT ALL TIMES WHEN BEING LOWERED, WHETHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. THE WINDOW NOISE HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR AT LEAST 7 YEARS, AND HAS WORSENED OVER TIME. SINCE THE SYMPTOMS MATCH THOSE DESCRIBED IN THE 2008 RECALL NOTICE, IT SEEMS VERY LIKELY THAT THE WINDOW BOLTS ON OUR 2004 MATRIX ARE SUFFERING FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AS DESCRIBED IN THAT RECALL.

FOR ALMOST 9 MONTHS, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FUEL MY 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA WITHOUT THE GAS PUMP STOPPING DESPITE MY GAS TANK NOT BEING COMPLETELY FULL. THIS OCCURS ON A WEEKLY BASIS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE CAUSE FOR THIS IS A FAULTY CHARCOAL CANISTER. AT FIRST I NOTICED THE GAS TANK WOULD NOT FILL PROPERLY. I THOUGHT IT WAS NOT VENTING PROPERLY, BUT I HAD A TECHNICIAN CHECK IT OVER. EVENTUALLY, THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILL GAUGE (TO NO AVAIL, MIGHT I ADD). THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, AND I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AGAIN. FINALLY, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CHARCOAL FILTER. UNFORTUNATELY, I REPORTED THE INCIDENT BEFORE MY WARRANTY WAS UP, BUT THE DEALER'S SERVICE STATION DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT UNTIL AFTERWARDS. ALL IN ALL, BETWEEN SERVICE AND PARTS, THIS HAS COST ME ABOUT $500. THE OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, AND I WILL SEE TOMORROW MORNING IF THIS CHARCOAL FILTER MALFUNCTION IS REALLY THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE LETTER FURTHER STATES THAT THERE IS "NO REMEDY AVAILABLE" AND IT FURTHER STATES THAT YOU SHOULD NOT USE YOUR VEHICLE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THIS IS AN OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT ON THE PART OF TOYOTA. THE VEHICLE I BELIEVE HAS AN ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) PROBLEM. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT WHERE THE VEHICLE WANTED TO SHUT OFF AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ERRATIC RPM FLUCTUATION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP OR HESITATES WHEN TAKING OFF. TOYOTA HAS DONE A RECALL ON SOME OF THE 2005 THRU 2008 MODELS AND I BELIEVE THIS MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED SINCE IT USES THE SAME ECM AND HAS THE SAME ENGINE AS THE OTHER MODELS

MY CAR ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS WILL NOT START AS WELL.....THERE IS NO CRANKING WHATSOEVER. ALTHOUGH UPON TURNING THE KEY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHT UP IN A NORMAL MANNER, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER EITHER A FEW TRIES OR ROLL STARTING THE VEHICLE (MANUAL TRANSMISSION)....IT WILL START. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER ONCE AND THEY ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY, THEN THE STARTER *WHICH THEY PROCEEDED TO REPLACE, THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN....I AM BRINGING IT BACK TO THE DEALER. *JB

MARCH 24, 2010, I STARTED MY CAR FROM DEWDNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MISSION, BC PARKING LOT HEADING HOME IN ABBOTSFORD, BC. ABOUT 15 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY 11 HEADING ABBOTSFORD DIRECTION, I FOUND THAT I COULD NOT BRAKE THE CAR TO STOP. LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO STOP. THEN I SAW SMOKE CAME OUT FROM THE BACK WHEELS, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER WAS HIGH UP, WHICH IT HAD NOT BEEN RELEASED BEFORE I STARTED TO DRIVE. I WAS SCARED AND CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, SUNRISE TOYOTA IN ABBOTSFORD TO TOW THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING, THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME THAT I HAD TO PAY ABOUT $1200.00 TO FIX THE CAR MYSELF AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT DUE THE FAULT I MADE MYSELF. THEY CLAIMED THAT I SHOULD HAVE NOT UNRELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, WHICH WHY IT BURNED THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT I FORGOT TO RELEASE THE EMERGENCY HAND BRAKE BEFORE I DROVE. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED TWO AND A HALF YEARS AGO THAT I REALIZED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT RELEASED IMMEDIATELY, AS I FELT THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO MOVE. MY CONCERN IS THAT I DID NOT FEEL ANY DIFFICULTY OR RESTRICTION TO MOVE THE CAR WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT RELEASED THIS TIME, AS I DID NOT REMEMBER IF THE RED LIGHT OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ON. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR MOVED SMOOTHLY EVEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS UP HIGH. THAT WAS WHY I DID NOT REALIZE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT RELEASED. MY CAR IS ONLY SIX YEARS OLD, WITH 80,000KM, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. I THOUGHT THAT I WAS GOING TO DIE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WHEN I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, AS THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS BURNING OFF WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT BEING RELEASED. IT IS NOT A REASONABLE TIME FRAME FOR AN EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP FUNCTION IN FIVE OR SIX YEARS. IN OTHER WORDS, TOYOTA INC. SHOULD HAVE WARNED ALL THE DRIVERS WHO DRIVE TOYOTA COROLLA 2004 MODEL TO REPLACE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES OF THEIR CARS IN FIVE OR SIX YEARS, OTHERWISE THEY WILL RISK THEIR LIVES.

ON JANUARY 12, 2010, MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA WAS PARKED AND RUNNING, WHILE I BROUGHT GROCERIES INTO MY HOME. WHEN I WENT BACK OUT, I DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A DITCH CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE AND MUFFLER. This safety problem pertains to all vehicles sold in the U.S., not only my make and model. I was horrified to learn that the crash ratings are inaccurate for most women and all short people, because they were developed only for average sized men. It should be no surprise that when collisions occur, more women than men are seriously injured. More women than men are injured when air bags deploy. More women than men are injured by their shoulder belts. I am afraid to purchase a new car, because the crash ratings that I have relied on in the past are unreliable for me as a short woman. I am very disappointed that my own government, to which I pay taxes, has been so misleading to the public on important safety issues. Please develop and implement collision ratings for various height groups. In the meantime, please include notices with crash ratings that explain which height ranges the ratings are most accurate for.

My daughter was driving as usual when she went to apply the brakes about 5 car lengths back and the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably despite braking. Her foot was not on the accelerator, she does not have floor mats that would cause anything to hit the accelerator. This has happened on 5-6 occasions which almost resulted in an accident. She barely got stopped mere inches away from the car in front of her despite braking earlier than normal because she encountered this once already during her trip. No check engine codes, the brakes are good, the car idles high. That is really it. This is a serious issue that seemingly cannot be diagnosed. After doing research to see what the problem may be, I have seen countless complaints of a similar nature. My daughters life is invaluable. This needs to be addressed.

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION CROSS-MEMBER (PART # 51206-12190) IN MY 2004 TOYOTA MATRIX IS ABOUT TO FAIL DUE TO RUST. WHILE DOING SOMETHING ELSE MY MECHANIC HAPPENED TO NOTICE THE ISSUE. HE SHOWED ME THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE FOR BEING 16 YEARS OLD (ABOUT 8K A YEAR). THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN CANADA AND SOLD IN NEW YORK STATE SO IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO TAKE MANY YEARS OF WET/WINTER ROAD CONDITIONS. IF MY CAR HAD 16K MILES PER YEAR IT WOULD ONLY BE 8 YEARS OLD. SHOULD A PART THAT HOLDS THE DIFFERENTIAL UP (NOT LET IT DROP TO THE ROAD) GO BAD IN EVEN 20 YEARS ON THE ROAD? I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BY CHANCE. OTHERWISE I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND POSSIBLY HAD A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO THE REAR PARTS OF THE DRIVE TRAIN DROPPING TO THE ROAD. THE CAR LOOKS FINE OTHERWISE. SO HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWN THE SAME CAR THAT IS THE SAME AGE, OR NEWER OR A BIT OLDER, HAVE NO IDEA THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS? IF EVEN ONE OWNER OF THIS CAR HAS AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM AND IS HURT OR KILLED THAT WOULD BE VERY BAD! AND THAT PERSON COULD HAVE BEEN ME - BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED INTENDED TO CHECK FOR THIS POTENTIAL FAILURE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME I AM ON MY OWN, THAT THEY COULDN'T/WOULDN'T HELP ME. THEN FEBRUARY 2019 WAS TOLD THEY HAD AIRBAG WENT TWICE WAS TOLD THEY HAD IT WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN AND SAT THERE FOR THREE HOURS FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN. GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THEM TELLING ME THEY MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF MARCH BUT SURE THEY WOULDN'T I ASKED ABOUT THE BUY BACK AND ABOUT THE TOYOTA LEMON LAW I KEEP GETTING THE RUN AROUND AND I'M TRIED OF IT THIS IS MY ONLY WAY OF GOING I HAVE PUT OFF DR APPT IN NORTHPORT AL DUE WITH THE FACT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AND ALSO WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE IT.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT AT LESS THAN 50000 MILES AND TOYOTA REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER THE STANDARD WARRANTY. I HAVE GONE BACK AND WORTH WITH THESE PEOPLE, BUT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT FEDERAL OR STATE LAW. THEN THE DEALERSHIP CALLS AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AGAIN. I HAVE GIVEN UP ON THE SAFETY RECALL FOR THE TIME BEING. I DON'T HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF BUYING ANOTHER CAR AND SO I FEEL THAT MY LIFE IS IN DANGER AS WELL. ON 04-13-15 A NEW CASE WAS OPENED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE (CASE#1504132776). I LATER FOLLOWED UP AND SPOKE TO SABRINA (MANAGER AT THE TOYOTA LOCATED IN WEST COLUMBIA, SC IN JULY 2015. SHE ALSO SAID THAT NO REMEDY HAS BEEN RELEASED YET. IN ADDITION, MY SPEEDOMETER WAS STUCK ON 50 (I JUST GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE & WAS GOING RESIDENTIAL SPEED), MY GAS GAUGE REFLECTED I HAD A FULL TANK (I ACTUALLY HAD A HALF OF A TANK) AND MY TEMP GAUGE SAID MY ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY COOL. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN, BUT I'M LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN TO ME WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE! LET ME CLARIFY THE FACTS HERE- TOTAL POWER LOSS WHILE DRIVING, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, GAUGES - INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER- WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP WERE STUCK ON INACCURATE READINGS, NO INDICATION OF AN ISSUE PRIOR TO IT STALLING! A WEEK BEFORE THE LATEST (ABOVE): THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND RUNNING, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, TRIED STARTING THE CAR AND SAME SCENARIO AS ABOVE, WE LET THE CAR REST OVERNIGHT AND THE NEXT MORNING IT STARTED UP. (WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR). HAND BRAKE DOESN'T HOLD WELL. ALSO, WHEN THE HAND BRAKE IS ON AND YOU OR YOUR PASSENGER GETS OUT OF THE CAR IT MAKES A NOISE LIKE YOU WEIGHT 5000 POUNDS A VERY LOUD SQUEAK. IT'S NOT EXACTLY A SQUEAK, IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY FORGOT TO GREASE THE SUSPENSION ITS THAT KIND OF NOISE. OR IF YOU PUT A LITTLE WEIGHT ON THE FENDER WHEN THE HAND BRAKE IS ON IT DOES THE SAME THING. NOT A LOT OF WEIGHT JUST YOUR HAND PUSHING DOWN GENTLY..THIS SHOULD BE AN EMBARRASSMENT FOR TOYOTA. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. I BEG TO DIFFER! I BOUGHT A TOYOTA COROLLA 2004 SEDAN FROM GORDIE BOUCHER NISSAN, 10606 W. ARTHUR AVENUE, WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN, PHONE NO. 414-543-1234 ON SEPT. 27TH. THE CAR WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, AND BOTH MY HUSBAND, JOY JOSEPH AND I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT THE HEAD RESTS FOR THE BACK SEATS WERE MISSING. WHEN WE FOUND THAT WE BROGHT THIS TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO GET US TWO HEAD RESTS FOR THE BACK. MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AS WE STILL HAVE THE FULL WARRANTY FROM TOYOTA, AND THEY ARE ALSO NOT WILLING TO PROVIDE US WITH THE HEAD RESTS. I KNOW THAT IN A COLLISSION IT WILL BE DANGEROUS TO HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT WHERE THEY WILL HAVE SEVERE NECK INJURIES. BEFORE SOMETHING SEVERE HAPPENS, I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE HEAD RESTS IN PLACE. PLEASE HELP ME IN GETTING THIS RESOLVED.

APPEARS THAT THE DRL SYSTEM MANDATED BY DOT CAN NOT BE DEACTIVATED. ALL MILITARY INSTALLATIONS MADATE THAT A VEHICLE'S HEADLIGHTS BE TURNED OFF WHEN OING THROUGH THE SECURITY CHECK POINTS. CURRENTLY ON A 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. CAN NOT FIND A DEALER WHO WILL MODIFY THE SYSTEM DUE TO DOT REGULATIONS. DOT, DOD, AND HOMELAND SECURITY NEED TO INVOKE A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT THAT ALL VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S PROVIDE AN OVERRIDE SWITCH. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA LE FROM BOB PAGAN/SAND DOLLAR TOYOTA, 7626 BROADWAY, GALVESTON, TX 77551 ON MAY 13, 2004 WITH 14 MILES ON ODOMETER AND DROVE IT ALL THE WAY TO PLANO, TX. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT TO PLANO, I FELT ITS RIDE ABNORMAL, EXCESSIVE BOUNCING, VERY BUMPY AND ROUGH SIMILAR TO TURBULENCES IN A PLANE. TOYOTA BOASTS ITSELF OF TOTAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. THESE ARE JUST SLOGANS. THEY PROVIDE SHODDY CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR CAR, REFUSED TO REFUND FULL MONEY TOWARDS BUYING ANOTHER TOYOTA AND REFUSED TO HELP BY SAYING THAT THE CAR IS DESIGNED THIS WAY. THE STEERING ALSO FELT STIFF AND TIGHT. THIS HIGHLY EXCESSIVE BOUNCING, BUMPY, SHAKY, JOLTING, TURBULENCE, VIBRATING RIDE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. TOYOTA NEEDS TO FULFILL ITS PLEDGE, OBLIGATION AND COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS CAR. I WROTE LETTERS TO TOYOTA CHAIRMAN IN JAPAN AND ALSO WROTE TO TOYOTA PRESIDENT IN THE US. TOYOTA PRESIDENT CALLED ME BUT OFFERED NO HELP AT ALL AND REFUSED TO TAKE CAR BACK AND REFUSED TO REPAIR IT TOO. THERE IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT AND IT COULD BE ASSEMBLY LINE RELATED OR SHOCK/STRUTS RELATED/ OR COULD BE TIRE RELATED. TOYOTA SUCKS AND THEIR SERVICE SUCKS. THEY MISLEAD PEOPLE IN THEIR ADS.
